so i took another look at this and noticed that the title is stylized differently than normal? like. here it’s listed as “映画天元突破紅蓮螺巌” (eiga tengen toppa gurren lagann if google translate isn’t lying to me) which is a bit unusual as the existing movie’s titles are “劇場版 天元突破グレンラガン 紅蓮篇” and “劇場版 天元突破グレンラガン 螺巌篇” (gekijouban tengen toppa gurren lagann gurren-hen and lagann-hen with the “gurren lagann” spelled out in kana in ttgl but in kanji in the subtitles). which may mean nothing but why change it just for one panel at an anime con? also trigger calling this their “new announcement and premiere panel” has got me thinkin bc. like. dunmeshi is obviously the premiere and i assumed panty & stocking would be the announcement? but they already announced that? so. LIKE. 🤔🙇 idk idk i’m probably overthinking but if we get new ttgl (that is big enough to announce at a panel!) i may very well die this july first LMFAO

最近暇と無気力に任せて、今までタイミングが合わず見ていなかった｢新世紀エヴァンゲリオン｣のテレビ版をネトフリで全話観るなどをした。

｢シン・エヴァンゲリオン｣がなかなか綺麗に終わったらしく、まあそれを観るなら最初から追いかけたいなと思ったので。全26話しかなかったし。

で、全話観た感想は、演出が細やかだし作中の描写もリアリティとフィクションがうまい具合に混ざり合っていて、更に毎話観るごとに続きが気になるシナリオなど、やはり一時代を築き上げた作品なんだなあと感心した。とにかく登場人物の心理描写がさりげなく、ことさら強調されているわけでもないのに自然と寄り添ってしまう演出に舌を巻いた。

ただ、これはもう先人たちが何万回何億回と言っていることだろうけど、兎に角最終三話(24話・25話・26話)が唐突過ぎて唖然としてしまった。いや、23話観終わった後の次回予告がラフみたいな紙芝居だったから若干の嫌な予感はしていたのだけど。フィフスチルドレンである渚カヲルの唐突過ぎる登場と唐突過ぎる退場が24話の30分の内に駆け足気味に終わったことで、ああこれはちゃんと終わらないな？あと二話でどうオチをつけるのだろうかとワクワクしていたら、まさか25話・26話の合わせて1時間弱を全て碇シンジという一人の少年の心象風景に終始するとは思わなかった……。合間合間に外の世界の様子がチラ見えする場面はあるけれど、基本的に碇シンジとそれをとりまく人物の回想と悔恨、そして自己の存在理由、そういったものがやや説明口調的な台詞と共に展開されていくという、なんともこう、上手く言語化できないオチだったという。

これ、本当に地上波で放送されてたんだなあと思うと、確かに伝説になったというか、確実に爪痕はガッツリ残せただろうな…。

まあしかし、それまでの話を一旦全部脇に置いておいて、25・26話の内容だけを見てみれば、自らのレゾンデートル、つまり存在理由に悩む思春期の少年が”自分”という存在と”他者”との関係とそれに伴って展開される”世界”について問答し、最終的に自分は存在して良いのだと心からの自己肯定を掴み取るという結末になっていて、まあこれはこれで中々綺麗な終わりなんじゃないか、と思わなくも…ないような……

いややっぱないな。うん。

多分そのうち旧劇場版を観ます。
