There on that bench, she felt like an alien. Human flesh with no real spirit. The noise coming from behind her, from the lively beach, was the voice to feelings she couldn’t grasp.

Crestfallen, she kept staring at nothing, her visual swirling because of the outside heat, blurring everything in her sight. It was half past six already… probably. Mafuyu wasn’t so sure. The new phone Kanade got her told her so, at least, but the fresh air of the night kept delaying its arrival. Soon, the professors would have called the students round.

The wooden bench she was sitting on was nearly as hot as the warmth she felt spreading all over her skin. The uniform she was wearing stuck to her skin, leaving her bothered, unable to think straight. It was a literal hell, but for some reason the others kept laughing in those flames from a distance. How? How could people have fun so naively in that heat? 

She wanted to die, but she straightened her jaw and squeezed her thighs tight. ‘Kanade wouldn’t like it’, she thought to herself.
