This was a great thrift find!

So for context: Book Off buys and sells lightly used toys (among many other things) and used to be a great place to find stuff.

But in the past few years, as they shifted focus to fandom and collectors in the US, their prices have gotten outrageous. Far above ebay in many cases.

But this Belial was an exception - $3usd! And he was in beautiful condition, just dumped unceremoniously in the sofubi bins.

Dating back to 2009, this is the very first Belial toy to hit the scene - from his debut in the "Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy" film.

And it's such a great toy. Wonderful hunched little pose, stocky and menacing. Gorgeous gradient paint on the eyes. And those claws!

In the years since we've had some wonderful high end Belial toys - but there's really something special about this first vinyl. He's got a ton of charm.

Game Tips: Finding Setups on YouTube

The deeper you get into GBF, the more you'll start to realize that a lot of content demands specialized setups. As you get stronger and stronger, your toolbox increases, and it can be tough to have an idea of which tools to bring to which scenario.

I often recommend players look up setups, but beyond just glancing at Advanced Grids on the wiki, the proccess of finding them can often be nebulous and hard to understand, especially for a non-Japanese speaker.

Usually when looking for something, I begin my search on YouTube. Most good setups tend to have a reference video to go along with them, and you can often find "B-Tier" setups as well from players missing core pieces.

I also recommend you use the shown setup as inspiration. Just because someone recorded the setup and put it on youtube doesn't immediately make it good. Furthermore, no setup is immutable, and most of the time you can make reasonable facsimiles that will perform just as well. This should be your starting point, not the end goal.

Anyway, in this post I'll provide you with a small tutorial on what keywords you should be searching on YouTube to find what you need.

Generic Terms

Granblue Fantasy - グラブル

Guild War / Unite and Fight - 古戦場

Nightmare _ - _HELL (eg. Nightmare 200 = 200HELL)

Full Auto - フルオート

Magna - マグナ

Button - ポチ (skill use)

Solo - ソロ

Gacha Weapons - 課金武器

Elements

Fire - 火

Water - 水

Earth - 土

Wind - 風

Light - 光

Dark - 闇

Numericals

Japanese utilizes a numerical system grouping in the tens of thousands. The character for "ten thousand" is 万.

If, for example, you're looking for a 4 million honor setup for a raid, you'd type 400万 (400 x 10,000)

Raid Names

Proto Bahamut HL - つよばは (lit. "Strong Baha")

Ultimate Bahamut HL - アルバハHL

Grand Order HL - グランデHL

Dark Rapture (Hard) - ルシファー or ルシ (add HL for hard ver.)

Beelzebub - ベルゼバブー or バブ

Belial - ベリアル

The World HL - ワールドHL

Mugen - ムゲン

Diaspora - ディアスポラ (奥義100 for y100 setups)

Siegfried - ジークフリート

Seofon - シエテ

Cosmos - コスモス

Agastia - アガスティア

Super Ultimate Bahamut - スパバハ

Hexachromatic Hierarch - 天元

Dark Rapture Zero - スパルシ (lit. "Super Luci")

Some users will suffix HL to raids that otherwise don't have a non-HL version out of habit (eg. "コスモスHL" / "Cosmos HL").

For any othe raids, you can find the Japanese name in the respective wiki page, shown in the old TweetDeck display, as such:

Specific Items

If you're looking for setups using specific classes, characters, weapons, or summons, you can include their Japanese names in the search. To find the names, you can use the "Other Data" tab on their repsective wiki pages.

You can also "negate" by using な�� (tl. "none/without"). For example, if I was specifically looking for a setup advertised as without Aliza, I'd use アリーザなし.

Belial is a fallen angel—and one of the first primal beasts ever brought into being. He is the manifestation of cunning, earning him the sobriquet "Serpent." He plays dirty and is irreverent, and his mind swims in the gutter.

The only man he respects is his own creator, Lucilius, to whom he has given the pet name "Cilius."

After wresting the Versus Core from Beelzebub's grasp, Belial plunged it into his own body, transforming into Avatar Belial. He now wields the powers of a deity, but he is and will always be set on one thing: the resurrection of Lucilius.

But for a fallen angel, the taste of unlimited power is both more exhilarating and dangerous than any wine. Now that Belial has been intoxicated with destructive impulse, there may be nothing that can stop him from obliterating the skies—not even the decay of his own body.

At first, he was concerned about if you would make a good candidate for the exchange student program, but you proved yourself capable academics-wise

But, as you got more comfortable, you were starting to really show your personality more and more, and Diavolo grew more worried

The only guy you had respect for was your creator, who was long gone at this point and was very dangerous anyway

However, as he got to know you better, you started flirting with him, and some of the things you were saying were incredibly dirty

Then, he got to know you more and more, and that’s when the flirting began from both sides.

Oh, the others are all so flustered whenever you both go back and forth, but it doesn’t matter to either of you. Of course, you don’t do it in public.

Solomon

He has heard of you, since you were a very popular fallen angel, and he knew of your destructive and power-hungry tendencies

You both were cunning and clever, but instead of going against each other you built each other up.

Solomon honestly didn’t care if you didn’t respect the others. There was a boundary, but as long as you didn’t cross it it was actually amusing

Once the flirting starts, he does get a bit flustered. However, he is not afraid to give it to you right back.

There is no point where it gets too far between the two of you. Both of your minds are always in the gutter, so it’s a way to sooth that urge a bit

Simeon

You were one of his fellow angels in the Celestial Realm, but your creator (Lucilius) was on Lilith’s side of the war, so you followed and fell

The personalities of you both tend to clash a bit, since he remains respectful towards everyone but you don’t

Luke absolutely despises you because you always call him ‘Fido’ and ‘Chihuahua’, but this is amusing to the older archangel

Break out the flirting as you sit with Simeon while he’s writing. He will definitely mess up the word he was typing

But, be warned that now he has to punish you for making him make a mistake. If your mind is as dirty as mine, you are more than welcome to write a fic as a sequel

Quick Shot

The Sofubi Hero line is a series of vinyl minifigures - one of the longest running Ultraman toylines, in one iteration or another - sold in boxes with candy and a second figure. They're essentially impulse buy items. And they're gorgeous.

Belial Atrocious is such a great design to begin with, it's hard not to make it look fantastic. But it's still impressive what this figure pulls off on such a small scale.

Deep sculpted detail, with sharp lines and clearly defined features - all thanks to the vinyl casting process. The paint is simple, but clearly applied and very effective - a detail even some larger (and more expensive) figures miss.

It's a stunning toy for something I picked up at a grocery store checkout line. A true impulse buy, but now one of my favorite toys.

The Sofubi Hero line never misses. If you ever see them out in the wild, make sure to grab one.
