This is partially my aesthetic. I really like it. Reminds me of the aesthetic in Architecture 101, sort of. 김의성 is in both of the films too. He’s showing up quite a bit for me.

Why do men feel so entitled? Like, damn. No one owes anyone anything even if you are in a relationship.

Lol at the zooming style in this film. Very new for me to see it done in a manner where it is not Jim looking at the camera in The Office.

Amazing how 해원 has film profs hit on her. How ideal.

Why does everyone in this film receive a compliment and return the same compliment back?

I am pretty open minded about dating circumstances but I do not think the way 해원 thinks at all. I also do not want to get married just to get married.

그런데 「해변의 여인」에서 카메라가 떠나는 인물의 뒷모습을 마지막까지 지켜보는 데 비해, 「잘 알지도 못하면서」는 그렇게 하다가 불현듯 패닝해 옆의 텅 빈 바다를 비추다가 끝난다. 동일한 숏 안에서 인물로부터 시선을 돌려 바다를 비추는 카메라의 움직임은 그에 대한 관심을 이제 그만 끊고 바다를 보아야 한다고 말하는 것과 같다. 「극장전」에서 처음으로 줌을 쓰기 시작한 이후 홍상수의 카메라는 지켜보는 방식에서 보여주는 방식으로 점점 더 바뀌어왔다. 그리고 「잘 알지도 못하면서」의 마지막 장면에 이르러서는 인간사의 야단법석으로부터 느닷없이 시선을 돌려 무심한 자연을 직접적으로 제시하며 끝맺는다. 그것은 텍스트로부터 영화가 일순간 도약하는 순간이다. 그리고 그 순간 홍상수는 마침내 관조를 만난다.
