Fairy of the setting Sun rays
{🌻🌒•🧚🏼♂️•🌘🌻}
One afternoon I decided to go to the sunflower field. The weather was sunny, but not hot. It was warm, and a refreshing wind was blowing in my face, reminding me of the beginning of the end of this summer. The field was not close to my house, but I had wanted to go there for so long to admire these boundless yellow sunflowers covering a huge space and, perhaps, to sketch them in the rays of the August sun-that I simply could not miss the chance to visit there, especially in such wonderful weather. I gathered everything I needed for my little hike in a basket I had woven-a light blanket, paints, two brushes, some water and strawberries-in case I got hungry-the way was not short. When I got to the field of sunflowers, the sky was already orange, which indicated the imminent beginning of sunset. However, I still had a lot of time before dusk, and even more so before evening. I laid a blanket on a small hill, from where there was a wonderful view of the sunflower field, stretching to the borders that have no outlines and merging with the semi-orange sky. I drew this beautiful field of sunflowers and was immensely happy that I discovered a new place for my walks and drawings. Here I was awed, because this view took my breath away. I painted the landscape until the sky turned almost scarlet, and the sun spread out in a huge red semicircle at the border of the field. Then suddenly I began to notice something unusual in its expanses and began to look more closely at the phenomena taking place there. Now in one place, then in another place of the field, small, small glowing translucent balls suddenly appeared and disappeared. I also saw the movement of something clearly alive, and it moved very quickly from one place to another. The buds of the sunflowers gently swayed after it, so that it was possible-with a little effort-to track from where and where it was moving. I was not at all afraid of this, having already got used to the unusual phenomena happening to me in Paddifield, but I was so curious that I decided to go down the hill to the sunflowers and find out the whole truth. I walked for a long time through the fragrant field, and I was almost invisible-the yellow flowers were so high that they reached almost to my shoulders. I walked carefully, quietly and slowly, making my way through the green stems of plants, afraid to scare off an unusual little creature. Suddenly, I heard a soft rustle or like the fluttering of wings, and then everything abruptly quieted down. I thought it had heard me, and I stopped too, holding my breath. It worked, and someone fluttered again. "Just a butterfly," I thought and wanted to laugh at my own investigation and my initial surprise on the hill, but looking up, expecting to see a simple butterfly, I suddenly saw something completely different. In an open red sunflower bud, extremely close to me, I saw a little, little boy sitting in it and sorting something in his unusual basket.
- Ah!I suddenly exclaimed in surprise.
The boy flew up sharply over the sunflowers, uttering a ringing short exclamation, and hid at the same second in the closed bud of one of the sunny flowers. It took me a while to come to my senses-this creature was so amazing that it was, of course, difficult to believe in its existence.
- So, there is after all!I whispered happily.
"Hardly anyone will believe me, but first I have to believe myself," I concluded in my head. I suddenly felt a little ashamed that I had scared him so much. I saw in which of the flowers he hid and slowly, carefully bent down to this sunflower and said quietly: "Hey, I won't hurt you. Truth. I've just never seen... fairies? Who are you? What's your name?".
At first nothing happened, and he did not immediately respond to my words, but then I suddenly heard the rustle of petals, and moving away a little, I began to wait for what would happen next.
•••••••
Little Fairy got out carefully from his yellow house a minute later. He flew high above the sunflowers, about to fly away, but suddenly looked at me and saw that I was not chasing him, but waiting for an answer. He carefully lowered himself a little lower, but continued to flutter his transparent patterned wings in the air and suddenly said shyly in a thin ringing voice:
- My name…Isaac. I am the fairy of the rays of the setting sun. And you? Are you... a person?
- Of course I'm a person, - I smiled, - I'm sorry that I scared you so much. And yes, nice to meet you!
I was amazed that the fairies have names, but more so what I could see in his basket.
- What do you have in your basket, if not a secret?I asked him.
- This is…These are the last rays of the setting sun that I catch with these transparent balls. That's where I keep them," he concluded, pointing to his little basket.
- Rays of the setting sun! But is it possible to... catch them?!I exclaimed.
There was no need to answer this question, because everything was in front of my eyes.
- Why are you doing this?I asked Isaac curiously.
- Why am I... collecting the last rays of the sun?- He thought, -We use them to light and heat our houses, houses of insects and minks of field animals at night. Many people don't know," he added, as if in secret, covering his face with his palm, "but butterflies, they are terribly afraid to sleep without light. They should never be left without a ray of light, otherwise their wings will crack or they... they will simply die of fear!he whispered with a serious expression.
- Wow!- I exclaimed, - but how can you collect ... rays? I still don't understand it.
- That's the whole point. The sun's rays can be collected only when the sun sets, and you need to catch the moment in time and catch the sun..., -suddenly, as if remembering something, he exclaimed in fright: "My basket!" and abruptly fluttered over the sunflowers and looked at the setting scarlet sun.
- I'm sorry, I have to urgently collect the sun's rays, otherwise..trouble will happen!- he said and, saying goodbye to me, flew to finish his unusual work.
- Goodbye, fairy of the rays of the setting sun!I shouted after him and waved my hand, "Goodbye, Isaac!
A quiet and barely audible "I'll be back" came to me from afar. I smiled. "We will definitely meet again," I thought.
I reached home almost at deep dusk, and all night that day I dreamed of yellow tall sunflowers swaying in the wind, and a little fairy boy collecting the sun's rays with his transparent extraordinary, luminous balls. 🌻🧚🏼♂️

in theory thea had a great day planned. everything was in place and p e r f e c t. until bit by little bit things kept going wrong. it started with waking up late which meant being late to drop willow off with her cousin, and then being late some more when meeting emery. though she’d sent a ridiculous amount of apologies just so she didn’t think thea was ditching. and then the restaurant she’d very carefully chosen because of it’s rave reviews was closed for maintenance. and considering she’d missed out on breakfast, she was h u n g r y.
but, ever the o p t i m i s t thea found a food cart, probably some freaky sixth sense her stomach has, and ordered too much food while also paying for emery as yet another apology for the wild storm today had turned into. “ do you know what i’m so thankful for ? ” thea questions as they sit on the steps of the met to enjoy lunch, “ that, despite the d r a m a of teenage pregnancy, my life was still never as stressful as gossip girl, ” she laughs before taking a bite of her sandwich. “ even factoring in today, the day of everything going wrong...it even looks like it might rain on us....” thea notes as the sky above darkens slightly.
