the doors to the church give way with a two-handed push, the creaking that follows accompanying his entrance. in comes zack: compared to the same boy that fell down and splatted on these floors all that time ago, the air about him has changed. the air and... his hair.

he lets out a slight laugh as she comments on it instantly. his arms go wide as he walks down the space between the pews, stretched by his sides as if displaying all of himself for her. “ hah! noticed that fast, huh? ” quipped casually— considering all that's happened and what's bound to happen, it feels good to be doing anything 'casually' right now, especially in aerith's soothing presence.

“ figured it was time for a little makeover now that i'm a 1st class SOLDIER 'n all. something that gives me a more cool and heroic look. well? think i nailed it? or maybe you'd like... ” he then pinches and lifts at the loose strands of hair that fall over his face. “ business in the front, ” a tilt and turn of his head to now point at his spiky mullet with his thumb, “ and party in the back? ”

his walking stops when he reaches her side, right in front of the makeshift flower garden that blooms in the midst of the church floors. ( of course he remembers not to walk on 'em. ) crouching down gives him a good look at the flowers, and a silence sets as he thinks about how the flowers are still standing tall despite being crushed and trampled by his weight the day he fell on them. sorry about that, flowers.

“ ...also, i wanted to look more mature and reliable for the other SOLDIERs. give them the look of someone they can look up to, y'know? suppose i'd be paying homage to a person that had those qualities too. someone i looked up to before... ” he goes quiet for a moment. it's a sore subject, naturally... but wallowing isn't really zack's thing.

his palms slap onto his knees before standing straight again, settling his hands on his hips and smiling at her. “ not that any of that stuff matters now! tell me what you think of it. ” he gets into proper viewing position then! arms crossed and a slight tilt to his head, a dazzling smile. “ looks good, right? ” right? right?
