pairing: bruno madrigal x male reader
req: yes | wc: 1.2k
@jooniefluff: so, m!reader, he's engaged to bruno, but sadly bruno left before they could get married, reader stays because...well that's his family now. Anyway, he left on a trip to get Toñio a gift for his gift ( see what I did there?) Not really sure what the gift is, baby animals or somthing, but he returns a few days after the Casita is rebuilt. Not knowing the bruno is back!
a/n: reader knows spanish. thereâs so many fics with this plot already (seeing bruno again after 10 years) but sure let's do it.
The Colombian cities of the outside world were a marvel you lost yourself in. Buildings towering over your head by meters, cars in sight every time you turn your head, advertisements everywhere⊠they had many things your hometown didnât. Still, Encanto was your home. Even if you were gone for a week and a half at best, you were homesick.
It was nice to be back.
Many people around Encanto greeted you as you made your way back home, to la casa de la familia Madrigal. Though they didnât dare talk about your fiance, they still honored you as a Madrigal.
(the Madrigal house.)
Many of them also inquired about the cage in your hand, covered loosely with a cloth, but you stayed quiet. It was a surprise.
You pause, for a moment, in front of the house. Casita was just like you left it; Although, due to your absence, you thought it was more breathtaking than usual.
Actually, there was something different. âAlma!â You call out, catching more than abuelaâs attention, âWhy is there a family portrait on the front door? And why am I not in it?â
The population regarded you as a Madrigal, and the Madrigals themselves were no exception.
âTĂo (y/n)!â Antonio comes running down the stairs, nearly tripping and falling if Casita didnât prevent it.
He hugs your leg and tugs you down so he can hug your upper half. Though your sobrinoâs love for you may be grand, his love for animals was bigger. He hears the chirping of an animal and instantly reaches out towards the cage youâve set down, however, his arms are much too short. âWhat is that?â
(your newphew's love)
âA gift for your gift.â
Antonio rolls his eyes, âOkay, tĂo, but whatâs in it?â
âHmm, guess.â He continues reaching out to check for himself, but you keep pushing it back everytime he gets close.
He huffs and crosses his arms, âA cat?â
âNo. You dare accuse your tĂo of bringing you such an ordinary animal?â
He first shakes his head to deny and then thinks to himself: the cage isnât super big nor super small. He can still hear the animalâs sounds (chirping, barking, meowing, snarling, he canât tell), though unfortunately theyâre drowned out by the actual words itâs speaking. Suddenly, he gets an idea. âWhat are you?â He asks the animal directly.
âYou mean,â It starts.
âwhat are,â He hears a different voice now.
âwe?â And another voice!
âMultiple?!â Antonio gasps, he shoots you an appreciative look âyou swear thereâs stars in his eyesâ then looks back down at the cage intensely as if he can see straight through the cloth. âYes! ÂżQuĂ© son?â
(What are you [plural]?)
They reply quickly, âSnakes, serpientes.â As if to prove their point, their Sâs are dragged out. (snakes.)
âTheyâre snakes, tĂo!â He exclaims. Taking advantage of your attention on him instead of his hands, he throws back the cloth on the cage. âOoh!â
Theyâre green, small snakes, not dangerous at all- âSnakes?!â
You now realize the familyâs gathered around you. A few of them seem quite scared of these little things, âOh, theyâre harmless.â
âHarmless.â The snakes agree, not that the rest of you can hear it.
âHarmless!â Antonio agrees for them.
âBesides, Antonio already has a jaguar,â (âParce!â Antonio chimes) You nod, âYes, Parce. Theyâre all harmless, so long as we have Antonio.â
âCan we keep them?â Your sobrino gives his best grin, showing off his happiness in order to convince the rest of his family. The snakes grin along, as best they can, not that it really helps as they bare their fangs. âPor favoooor?â
(Pleaaase?)
Abuela, normally the most apprehensive of them all, is the first to smile and say, âOf course weâre keeping them. We canât let (y/n)âs time away be a waste.â
Whatâs happened since you were gone?
The snakes, now that theyâve been approved, stop acting with their best behavior. One gnaws at the cageâs barsâto no avail, thankfully.
âAnyway,â You clear your throat, âwhatâs up with the front-â
âTĂo (y/n)!â Antonio suddenly exclaims. âI have a gift!â
âA gift?â
âÂĄUn regalo para ti!â He turns away from you, at a dark corner you canât quite see into, and calls out, âParce! Come here!â
(A gift for you!)
The jaguar comes out of that corner, nudging a familiar person out of its concealing shadows.
âBruno.â (This isnât Camilo, the kid tends to portray him as taller than he actually is.)
Your partner canât quite decipher the emotion behind your words. Are you surprised? Delighted? Happy? His mind canât help but to drift off to negative emotions too. Are you⊠mad at him? You approach him, slowly, which doesnât help in the slightest. Youâre mad at him. Of course youâre mad at him. He left so suddenly and-
You come to a stop in front of him. Impulsively, he greets, â(Y/N).â
Thatâs the final straw. If he hadnât talked⊠you wouldnât have known if you were hallucinating or not. Heâs back. Brunoâs back.
He finds himself engulfed in your embrace. For a moment itâs one-sided as he processes the situation. So⊠you werenât mad at him. In fact, you missed him. He thought youâd come to terms with losing him, especially after ten years, even if it was something he himself didnât do. And perhaps you had come to terms with it, but seeing him again after all that timeâŠ
Emotions came rushing in as he buried his face in the crook of your neck and hugged you back. God, he missed you. Is there a tear in his eye?
You pull back, give his face a once-over as if you still canât believe it, and hug him again. âYouâre back.â
âI⊠am. Iâm back.â
âMi amor.â Thereâs a kiss on the tip of his ear, then on his cheek, the corner of his lips⊠and finally, there, where he loves it, on his lips. Itâs sweet and short, and heâd ask for more if you werenât surrounded by his family.
(My love.)
He sighs, dreamily, âI missed this.â and tucks a stray hair behind your ear.
âAy, Iâm over it.â Someone from behind you exclaims. Theyâre Camilo, you know from the voice and the attitude. No doubt he throws his hands to the side and shrugs his shoulders.
âCâmon Camilo.â
âÂżQue? Dos ancianos besandose, you think I want to s-â
(What? Two old guys kissing)
âShh!â
You burst out laughing, Bruno soon following. âItâs fine, Pepa. I canât blame the kid for not wanting to see this. Weâre old saps para los jovenes, after all.â
(to the youngins)
"Kid? I'm not a kid!" Camilo exclaims. You tune him out.
Many people leave after that, los jovenes mostly, so you turn back to Bruno. âIâm glad youâreâŠâ Something on his hand catches your attention, so you take it in yours and inspect it. âback.â
âWhat is it?â He asks. When he looks down at what youâre seeing, he realizes it too.
âYou kept it,â The ring, the engagement ring. âafter all this time.â
âPor supuesto me lo quedeâŠâ He watches your index finger trace over the band, the detail engraved into it, the large gem on top. All its crevices may be dirty âyou canât blame Bruno, theyâre absolutely tinyâ but it looks the same as it did when you put it on his finger.
(Of course I kept it...)
Bruno blushes as you bring his hand up to your lips and kiss over his knuckles, âI wouldnât forgive myself if I lost it.â He mutters.
âGood, because I wouldnât either.â
âHey!â

summary: Camiloâs bf comes over and Isabela and Dolores take advantage of it.
a/n: reader knows spanish, Isabelaâs a lesbian and he/they pronouns are used for Camilo
âCamilo, your boyfriend's here!â
The shapeshifter comes running down the stairs, shifting from you to him back and forth excitedly. Youâve been plaguing their mind constantly this morning, and itâs almost as if you knew it, because they hadnât asked you to come over or anything.
A grin spreads across his face as his eyes bask upon the sight of your fairly far away figure. Luckily youâre not there to make fun of them for it, since youâre talking to that kid who constantly drinks coffee and his friends.
Though, he does forget who is there to make fun of him. âYou look lovesick, primito.â
(little cousin)
Camilo turns to Isabela with a glare, to which she merely laughs at. âShoo, shoo!â They swat her away with their hands, âÂĄMuevete, muevete!â and push her lightly once theyâre close enough.
(Move, move!)
âHey, hey!â She snickers.
Dolores comes from around the corner, âI heard you say Camiloâs boyfriend is here.â Her soft voice is ever teasing, âIsabela has a right to say that, you know. So do I.â
âYouâve said that to us many times.â Isabela crosses her arms, leaning down to her cousinâs height âthough she wasnât much tallerâ mockingly. âWeâre just taking our payback.â
âThe ladies have a point.â Mariano says, appearing seemingly out of nowhere.
âWhere did you-â Camilo rolls his eyes, âWhatever, youâre just saying that because youâre dating mi hermana.â
(my sister.)
Mariano shrugs his shoulders as if to say the point he makes is unrelated, which it is. Even if he wasnât dating Dolores, he would have agreed with the payback they were taking on their ïżœïżœïżœpoorâ little relative. In fact, heâs rather sure you would too.
âRelĂĄjate, Ca-mi-lo.â Isabela snickers, âItâs only the beginning.â
(Relax,)
Camilo chooses to ignore that sentence and instead says, âRather funny how we havenât said âyour girlfriend's here!â, isnât it, I-sa-be-la?â They cross their arms and raise their eyebrows. His grin has turned rather smug too.
âDidnât need to remind me that Iâm single.â She huffs.
âOh, I really did.â
Just then, you arrive. Thereâs a small smile on your face, not from talking to those kids, but your partnerâs little remark. â(y/n)!â Camilo exclaims, their attention instantly turning entirely to you. He wraps an arm around your shoulder and presses a kiss to your cheek. âWhat are you doing here, cielo?â
âAnd you gag when I kiss Mariano.â Dolores remarks.
âEn los labios, hermana!â
(On the lips, sister!)
You chuckle, âCanât I pay my boyfriend a surprise visit? No necesito razĂłn, verdad?â
(I don't need a reason, right?)
âOh no, itâs a perfectly warranted visit, corazĂłn!â They shoot you another smile and peck on the cheek before turning to their family, âWeâll be leaving now. To my room.â He ignores their hoots of âOooh-â âGood- no, just bye. Chao.â
He drags you away with him, not even letting you say your goodbyes.
âGood seeing you, (y/n)!â Isabela calls. You begin to wave your goodbyes and say something along those same lines, but your partner interrupts before you can.
âNo!â Camilo shouts stubbornly. âNot good seeing you, prima! ÂĄVete de aquĂ!â
(cousin! Get out of here!)
âÂĄYo vivo aquĂ!â
(I live here!)
âÂĄYa no!â
(Not anymore!)

Camilo didnât like being alone, least of all without you. Still, he thinks now is the moment to have alone time. Thereâs a lot in his mind, like a suitcase filled to the brim, about to burst unless an item is taken away and reevaluated.
There were many things to think about, casita being broken, tĂo Bruno coming back, and above all, his gift being gone.
WhatâŠwhat was he going to do without it? Heâs had it for the majority of his conscious life, and heâs always used it, every day and damn well near every hour.
People liked him, because of his gift. They always wanted him to be a tall, strong man, a caring mother, or a kidâs playmate. They never wanted him to be himself, Camilo Madrigal; He wasnât their Camilo, he was their little chameleon. They wanted him to be someone else, someone he wasnât. For the longest time, Camilo had come to unstable terms with it, and now that he didnât have his gift, now that he couldnât masquerade as someone else, he was a nobody.
He was practically bursting at the seams.
He uses his hands to put himself back together, grasping at his face as if it could help. âThey like you, Camilo.â He tries to reassure himself. âThey like you for you.â
His breaths are raggedy, shaking now.
Who even was Camilo anyway? Was he a tall handyman? A mother to rely on? A comedian to share a laugh with? He wasnât even sure if there was enough of him to love.
He laughs. Why was he laughing?
âCamilo?â That⊠wasnât him.
âYou there?â He turns to you, which turns out to be a big mistake as he reveals his mess of a face to you. Perhaps if he looked like the perfect Isabela, you wouldnât have said the next few words, âOh, Camilo⊠are you alright?â
âY-Yeah,â He gulps back a sob, âIâm alright.â He was alright, he was just peachy. Yes, thatâs who he was, the stable Camilo.
âYouâreâŠâ You reach forward to grasp at his hands, but he pulls back, afraid, ânot. Youâre not alright.â Who were you to tell him how he was? âCamilo, por favor, whatâs going on?â
(please,)
âAm IâŠâ What was he saying? âwho you want me to be?â
âAmor, sĂ, sĂ, of course you are.â You say without skipping a beat. âYouâre the love of my life, I-â
(Love, yes, yes,)
But he cuts you off anyway, âWho did you fall in love with?â
âCamilo.â Madrigal, he adds in his mind. âI fell in love with Camilo, the person that caught my eye, the one with the kindest smile Iâve ever seen, laugh of an angelâsâŠâ You take his hand in yours now, and he allows it. âI fell in love with you, not anyone else.â
With him, yes, with him.
Camilo breaks down, tears flow down his cheeks freely and his breath hinders and hiccups, but youâre here. Youâre here to wipe it all away.
âEres Camilo,â You press soft kisses to the tops of his closed eyelids, âmi cielo,â the tip of his nose and the tenderness that are his lips, ây mi vida.â
(You're Camilo, my sky and my life.)
âÂżTuyo?â
(Yours?)
âSi me tendrĂĄs.â
(If you'll have me.)

pairing: bruno madrigal x male reader
req: no | wc: 657 | cw: very lighthearted, perhaps ooc?
summary: You accidentally broke something of his and heâs not particularly ecstatic about it.
a/n: reader knows spanish, theyâre also slightly hinted at being husbands. reader is also stated to be taller than bruno, with bruno being an estimated height of 5âČ 4âł or 162 cm.
âBruno,â The aforementioned Madrigal can only turn his head to catch up with you as you walk past him; still, he ends up turning it more than he thinks he would as you come to a stop behind him, not far but not close either. âmiâŠâ You pause, and he finds himself confused.
(my...)
He wonât be mad at you. Of course he wonât. He loves you too much for that.
âTu..?â
(Your..?)
âAmor,â You fill in the blank, âmi amor.â
(Love, my love.)
Bruno expects you to explain your peculiar behavior afterwards, but you donât, so he has to prod you further, âYes?â
âMi corazĂłn, mi cieloâŠâ He can just about see your hands move, heâd say sporadically, swishing in the air, as you enunciate each pet name. Quite dramatic, if anything.
(My heart, my sky...)
â(Y/N).â
Youâre pressed against his back now, in a hug, not unlike the lips on the side of his face. Under normal circumstances, he wouldâve been the slightest bit flushed from a mere kiss, even if on his cheek; but right now, you were worrying him. âMi vida.â
(My life.)
âSomething happened.â He deducts, not that it was rather hard to deduct. Husbands often came upon their⊠wives, with all the love and care in the world before stating that they did something atrocious. Forget to feed the dog? The kid? Accidentally broke something? You had no dog, no kid either, so it must be the latter.
âEl hombre mĂĄs bello que he vistoâŠâ He gives you a look, as best he can from this angle, portraying how tired he was of this drawn-out interaction. It shuts up your âmasterfulâ dodging of the point real quick. âSomething happened.â
(The most beautiful man I've ever seen...)
âAnd that is..?â You repeat to yourself: he loves you too much to get angry at you.
âAy..â Here goes nothing. âI broke one of your sets, your⊠rat telenovelas, I-â You pause, for a bit, intimidated by Brunoâs increasingly escalating stare, âLo... siento?â
(I'm... sorry?)
âYou-â He turns away from you, ripping your arms from their embrace around his torso, and sputters. In this moment, itâs almost like heâs the âalbeit smallerâ version of himself the town fears: the maniac, here to doom everyone that stands in his way.
His arms reach high in the air, grasping at empty air with a grip that would be crushing if it held onto something, then stiffly back down at his sides still in their vicious grasp of nothingness. His left leg is first to come down with a stomp, then his right. âYou did WHAT?!â And he turns back to you, a finger and nail poking at your chest, eyes narrowed and mouth agape.
âLook, mi amor, Iâm so sorry-â
âI know youâre sorry, but youâre gonna need a better apology-â You can see the moment an idea pops into his head like a lightbulb suddenly being lit, âUnless you want Hernando to come out.â
âHernandoâs already out, heâs gay-â
âTHATâS IT.â He pulls his ruana over his head, covering his eyes and making him look meaner, at least in his opinion. If it werenât for the fact he was shorter than you, you wouldâve been âshaking in your bootsâ. He grasps your shoulders with a vicious grip, which didnât turn out to be so vicious after all, and shakes you easily like a baby rattle. âAPOLOGIZE⊠please.â
"Mira, Bruno-"
(Look, Bruno-)
"BRUNO Y YO SOMOS DIFERENTES."
(BRUNO AND I ARE DIFFERENT)
âSee, mi vida, Iâve already done so twice and,â He stares again, with that look showing off how tired he is, which you can decipher even with his ruana pulled over like a hood. âokay, okay, Iâm sorry. Iâll fix it. Iâll fix the stage, and Iâll fix the little scene cards, and Iâll feed the rats-â
He cuts you off with a light peck, his ruana back to its normal position, âAnd youâll do it alone.â
âWha- alone? Mi cielo, you made those yourself, I donât even know where to start-â
âYou caused it, you fix it.â
âMi amor-â
âBye.â

@choicee: i wanna share this funny scenario i thought of lmao- okay so remember how Cami shifted into felix once? BUT SMALLER? what if YN just deals with a really mini cami at times, he just chills on their shoulder or something, just torments the hell outta them or whatever cami would do. OR would he like make himself just the slightest bit taller than YN to irritate them like, aha no idea what ur talking about iâve always been this tall
reader details: Reader is naturally taller than Camilo, with Cami being an estimated height of 5âČ 4âł or 162 cm.
a/n: reader knows spanish, he/they pronouns for Camilo. People that donât care about their height wouldnât be irritated, but Iâm not people. I take pride in my height! On the nose, there. Fic was really quick to write hm.
The first time Camilo turns into a mini human, you are understandably shocked.
âYou are the size of my finger.â
âYeah!â He hugs the finger youâve put beside him for comparison, âSo?â
âSo?â You scoff, âYouâre fine with that?â
They reply with even more enthusiasm in their squeaky little voice, âYeah!â
As much as Camilo wants to surprise you sometime by sneakily hopping onto your clothes as a mini human and popping out randomly, he really canât. They may be tiny, but you can still feel them. Heâs accepted it by now.
Whenever heâs sluggish, lazy, tired or he simply wants to chill on you, he hops onto your shoulder for a ride.
âCruisinâ along?â
âYeah.â
They have, 100%, avoided chores this way.
Heâd also like being thrown up into the air, like a makeshift trampoline. Itâs pretty fun, plus thereâs no danger to it! He can transform mid air! Okay, maybe if he lands on his back or something itâll hurt, but heâs got feet for a reason.
âTrust me, Iâm fine, Iâm like a cat! Iâll land on my feet.â
âIf you say so.â
Camilo shouts when you throw them up in the air, âWoohoo!â and his arms are high and flailing. âHey you heard about that thing that ants donât get hurt when they fall? Wanna test that?â
They turn even smaller, so small that youâve lost sight of them, âCAMILO? CAMILO I CANâT SEE YOU!â
Heâs fineee.
As for getting taller, wellâŠ
âCami.â
âWhat is it?â
âAre you taller than before?â
âPfft,â He laughs, âNo, no, of course not.â You can see through all his lies, not that he cares to drop the act. âIâve always been this tall!â
âMhm,â Your stare becomes blank as it lands on them. âreally?â
âAbsolutely.â Heâs radiating with confidence and not planning to back down any time soon.
The next time you see them that day, they seem to have grown taller again. âCami, youâre nearly my height now.â
âAm I?â He looks down at his body as if he could tell that way, âOr have you shrunk?â
You roll your eyes, âIâm not the one with shapeshifting powers.â
The next time you see him, heâs also taller; same goes for the next and the time after that. They've finally surpassed your height a noticeable amount, though only noticeable if you know this has been going on.
âCamiloooo?â
He answers smugly, with a smirk on his face, âÂżSĂ, mi amor?â
âYouâre taller than me.â
âWhaaat? Pfft,â They wave their hand at you dissmisively, âNo, thatâs ridiculous, mi cielo! ÂżSiempre he sido tan alto, mkay?â
(I've always been this tall, mkay?)
âRight. Yeah, yeah, sure. Iâll go ask Pepa.â
âMamĂĄ va decir nothingâs changed too!â
(Mom will say)
Pepa watches her son from her spot beside you. With no one to compare him to, sheâs having a hard time seeing if anythingâs off. âHmm, I donât know, (y/n).â Sheâs got her finger resting against her chin and eyes in a squint as she observes. âI canât tell.â
You groan, âFine, fine, Cami!â
âÂżSĂ, vida?â
âÂĄVen aca!â
(Come here!)
Camiloâs got that smug look on his face again as he stands next to you, âWhat is it that you need me for, hmm?â
âJust stand next to me. You know what I need you for.â
âYou need my company-?â
âNo, no, Camilo. Thatâs not it.â
Pepaâs still squinting. You stand next to each other for a few minutes, Camilo moving their head this and that way to make it even harder for their mom to think over your heights. âMamĂĄ, apurate por fa. Tengo tareas.â Here he is, acting all innocent.
(Mom, hurry up please. I have chores.)
âNo, I donât see anything.â
Camilo gives you a neat little smile before heading off on their merry way. You swear heâs got a pep in his step.
âPepa, I swear if youâre in on thisâŠâ
âWhatâs âthisâ?â

pairing: camilo madrigal x male reader
req: no | wc: 484
summary: Thereâs a pause in your conversation as Camilo distracts himself with the cat whoâs settled on his chest. You, on the other hand, are distracted by them.
a/n: reader knows spanish, he/they pronouns are used for Camilo. I orginally had this as gender neutral, because I forgot about what Camilo calls you in the end: "galante" which is usually used for men.
Your catâs taking a liking to Camilo. You donât blame her for doing so, after all you had a liking for them too, but you couldnât help but spite her for it just a tiny bit.
For one, the catâs the devil incarnate. Eat and sleep is all she does, and itâs all you would expect a cat to do, apart from accept pets; She takes offense when you pat her on the head, lightly at that. Her mood never swung to cuddle bug either, she was only ever aggressive. Had your mom not been drawn in by her beauty, you wouldnât have gotten her.
The second reason was⊠well, she had all your partnerâs attention. Were you jealous of your cat? Pfft, no! No, of course you werenât. Most definitely not.
You had to give her something, though. Camilo looked extremely pretty like this.
Thereâs a small smile on his face as he gingerly pats the cat on his chest; he was smart enough to heed your warning, though it would seem your warning didnât apply to him. His eyes are half-lidded, relaxed even in the warm sunlight, though they show focus on the cat at the same time. They lean half on their side half on the hammock, knees raised up as if to tuck the cat in a slight embrace. The golden rays of the sun pour over him like honey, adding a beautiful shine to the tips of his curls, his mellow skin, and the rest of his radiating self. It was not often that a joke wasnât spilled from their lips or that their attention on the world around them was this scarce, so you admired them for the moment that it lasted.
The cat finally shows him how evil she is, swatting the hand that reached out to pet her as if it was a fly. "Ow.â They say, though it didnât quite hurt that bad. âNo more pets?â He reaches out again, only to get rejected with another not so subtle swat.
âOkay, okay,â They laugh and put their hand up in surrender, âno more.â
Here you were, leaned over a rock like la sirenita, swooning over your lover as if it was the first time your eyes drank upon their wonderful figure in the distance. But you werenât like la sirenita on her lone rock, you had your lover at a figurative fingertipâs reach.
(like the little mermaid)
âIs there something on my face, amor?â His focus is on you now. It seems theyâve caught your staring.
âNot if you count beauty.â
He snickers, âCharmer, are we?â
âWhen it comes to you, yes.â
âMm,â They hum, pleased at your compliments, âwhatâs got you in such a mood? Ah, wait, I know the answer. Itâs me, isnât it?â
âCorrecto, corazĂłn.â
(Correct)
âAy, ven acĂĄ.â He beckons you with his arms, âDĂ©jame darte un besito, galante.â
(Ay, come here. Let me give you a kiss, ya hunk.)
You should hang out at golden hour more often.
