i’m saying this, because once again I am pissed off at tiktok, i saw a post saying “the feeling when your favourite character is ruined by disgusting people”, what i have to say to that is, if you see a character you really like and you don’t wanna see sexualised and you do see them be sexualised instead of hating on that person or complaining about it block it don’t interact with it.

you are responsible for what you see online, and the way algorithms work is if you interact with stuff, even if you’re saying negative things, the algorithm will not pick that up and will show you more of that thing so if you really don’t like seeing sexualised things of characters, maybe don’t interact with it, block it block whoever made it block the tags. don’t interact with it or you’re going to see more. you and you alone are the only person who is responsible for your fandom experience and I can assure you if you just learn to curate it on your own, you will enjoy it too much better.

and also, on that note, can we not treat fictional characters like real people? like who cares if someone sexualises hatsune miku? “but shes a minor” she’s fictional she is an anime girl hologram. she is not real, who cares? fictional characters are not real people we should not treat them as such, you can sexualise them you can treat them however, you want in your writing or art or whatever, because they’re not real therefore, whatever you do to them is not going to affect anyone at all.

What does loli mean? I have seen that Loli comes from sexualized teen girls (as lolita means) but also that is just a little girl so I'm confused

(TL;DR at end because this is a long post)

Lolicon is an art genre based on erotic/suggestive depiction of anime girls that appear to be youthful. A loli is a character that could be used in this art form. The male equivalent is shotacon.

I would like to point out that not all lolis or shotas are necessarily canonical adolescents in their media, and can be any age (yes, even adult) as long as their youthful appearance and/or mannerisms are the center of attention and is shown in a somewhat suggestive way.

The art form itself is not meant to be sexual, actually. You can appreciate it without being aroused by it.

The term lolicon comes from "Lolita," a famous book about a teen character in a controlling sexual relationship, and "complex." "Lolita complex" was eventually shortened to "lolicon" as it made it easier to pronounce for Japanese speakers (the art genre was started in Japan, iirc).

The reason why lolicon isn't specific to just teenaged characters is due to how the book Lolita wasn't focused on the character's age, but rather her youthfulness and innocence.

In more modern media, loli had also described a body type of a short anime character with large eyes, a small body, and "chibi" features.

TL;DR - Loli is focused on the sexualization of innocence and youthful body type rather than age. The body types are dramatic due to it being cartoon.
