you can feel him staring at you from the kitchen after he had begun to shut down your apartment for the night, but you were in the middle of a desperate housewives episode you couldn’t pull yourself away from. you hear the shuffling of his feet and you know he’s standing beside the arm of the couch when he says, “i’m going to bed.”

“congratulations,” it’s short, not very sweet, and you hadn’t intended it to be. you were still mad that he had forgotten your dinner plans and you sat alone in the restaurant for almost an hour before paying your cocktail table and coming home to find he and cam laughing about something out on the balcony. the look of realization that flashed across his features as he took in your appearance had you turning on your heel and silently going into your shared bedroom, slamming and locking the door behind you.

it was only in the last hour you had emerged for more wine and to watch your show on the big tv hanging on the wall not far from the couch.

“can i have my kiss?”

“do i look ready for bed yet?” your hair was down and you hadn’t even taken your contacts out. you were still donning your lazy clothes and not the matching pajama sets you usually slept in. he should know that you weren’t near ready for bed.

with a defeated sigh, he plops down on the opposite end of the couch and tugs on your blanket to cover his legs, “can you at least catch me up on what i missed?”

“be quiet.”

“sorry.”

please I’m suddenly in such a deep pit of sadness and I don’t know how to get out of it ?? wait let me put this under read more:

the whole entire campaign made me feel so bad, lmao. I feel like character depth, relationships between characters and the story itself were all lacking. the way they handled a main character death felt rushed and soulless, and I just—feel empty? I’m trying to find my happiness for this franchise again by browsing my old content but… ugh.

if I manage to get back to writing, prepare for a lot of angst in the upcoming days, haha. 🥲

it just frustrates me that they made this game in a year and in doing so ruined something so important to so many fans. the worst thing is that nobody is enjoying this game: those who enjoy gameplay more than the story side of the campaign are hating on the gameplay, and those who enjoy the story are hating on the story. both for a good reason, I think.

(by nobody enjoying it I don’t mean singular people. if you enjoyed it, I’m obviously very happy for you. I just mean that both the gamers and the story enjoyers are mainly upset about it, and that tells me that activision really failed at doing what they were expected to do, lol.)
