💕 Kumiho Cookie Headcanons 💕

Kumiho's very affectionate, both verbally and physically. She loves to pay cookies compliments, as well as give them hugs.

Her hugs are super soft and comforting, considering she's a marshmallow.

When talking to a cookie, she tends to forget boundaries and will place a hand on their shoulder or arm.

The only cookies that know her secret are Vampire, Espresso, Strawberry Crepe, Sorbet Shark, Werewolf, Tiger Lily, and Moon Rabbit.

Kumiho loves playing with kids, especially in her fox form. Her favorites to hang out with are Pancake, Sorbet Shark, and Strawberry Crepe.

Each time Kumiho transforms, she's a little bit different. Sometimes her hair is longer or paler, sometimes she's taller or shorter, and sometimes something about her is just…off. This is because she still doesn't quite have a grasp on the transformation spell.

In that vein, the reason her clothes are so plain is because they're the easiest to transform into.

She likes to wear Geta-style sandals to make herself taller.

As implied in the Rice Cake Incident story, Kumiho's power doesn't mean that everyone instantly falls in love with her in the traditional sense. It works more like people are inclined to trust her, and listen to her. Then, after she's around them for a period of time, they're more likely to actually fall in love with her. Physical contact speeds up the process.

Kumiho's love spell does NOT work on kids. For kids, her spell just means that they trust and listen to her. They can't fall in love with her. (And Kumiho wouldn't want them to anyway.)

Despite so many cookies being in love with her, she's never fallen in love herself.

She grew up in the Dark Cacao Kingdom. This would explain why she knew Caramel Arrow in the Rice Cake Incident story, as well as why she wears East Asian-inspired clothes and is based on multiple East Asian folktales. (Also, it makes sense for marshmallow foxes to live in the Dark Cacao Kingdom. Their thick white fur would help them keep warm and blend into the snow.)

Kumiho is currently stuck in a sort of limbo between cookie and fox. After only eating flour and butter for 999 days, she was supposed to be able to transform into a cookie permanently. But for some reason, the spell only worked partially, leaving her only able to transform for a couple of hours at a time. Kumiho, enraged at this error after trying for so long, gave into her fox side, and tore apart a group of wandering bear jellies. After not having jam for so long, her fox side morphed and twisted into an enormous beast (her April Fools sprite). Now, seemingly at random, her beast side comes out and requires her to feast on bear jellies, or sometimes even cookies (though she doesn't particularly like to). Whenever it's not out, though, she just looks like a normal marshmallow fox. (She can also call forth her beast form whenever she wants to if she tries really hard but…she really would prefer not to.)

Her ultimate goal is to eventually be able to turn into a cookie permanently, and leave behind both her beast form and normal marshmallow fox form. To this end, she's bought many jewels and trinkets that promise to achieve a cookie's wish, but none have worked. She's also been to many fortune-tellers and wizards that promise to fulfill her wish, only to fail. Her most recent quest is attempting to track down Lotus Dragon Cookie, who's said to be able to grant any cookie's wish.
