LUCEMOND FIC IDEA: (Quite long)
[Canon Divergence]
So, in this fic, Lucerys apologises for taking Aemond's eye immediately after he does it. This calms people down a bit, even Aemond. He can't bring himself to resent Lucerys. Everyone can agree that they all did something wrong that night. Rhaenyra and her family don't go to Dragonstone, and instead, they return to the Red Keep with the king and Alicent's family.
Jace and Luke grow up with Aegon, Aemond and Heleana. They get on surprisingly well, Jace helps Aegon with his drinking problem before it gets too bad. Luke spends a lot of time with Heleana and genuinely enjoys listening to her talk about her interests. Jace and Aemond don't try to interact with each other. While Luke had apologized to Aemond, no one else had really apologized for what happened that night.
Aegon and Luke spend time together and bond over the fact that they want to live without the pressure or the responsibilities that their titles come with. Aemond is quite cold to most people, but he is gentle and loving to Heleana.
No one seems to notice , but he's quite fond of Lucerys following him around as well. As they grow older, they become very close, to the point where whispers can be heard at court. People gossip about the strange relationship the second sons have.
Some theorize that Aemond doesn't like his nephew and that he simply tries to ignore him. Others say that they are targaryen lovers. Many speculate the reasons as to why they seem so close when they should not be able to stand each other.
This is where Aegon comes in. He likes to think that he's become a decent person over the years. He still goes to the street of silk every do often, but he doesn't do anything bad per say. He doesn't bother the maids, he doesn't visit those horrid child fighting pits, and he's even managed to stop excessively drinking.
Aegon gets along with Jace , and he has even seen an improvement in his relationship with his mother, sister and brother. He feels closest to Lucerys though. They seem to understand each other and have deep, meaningful conversations when their together, and Luke always takes him seriously when he needs to talk.
He sees Luke as his closest friend. And as such , he believes that he (as Luke's self-appointed bff) should have the right to meddle with his nephews' love life. As much as he loves them, at the rate thier going, Lucerys and Aemond won't get together until their on their death beds. So he comes up with ridiculous plans to get them together.
It starts off small, he makes passive comments about Luke's beauty to Aemond and does the same with Lucerys. This doesn't seem to do anything other than make the two stare longingly at each other. Aegon could vomit.
Over time, Aegon comes up with the most ridiculous ideas to get these to lovebirds in odd situations. From locking them up together to tripping Luke into falling into Aemond's arms. From stealing Aemond's clothes and hiding them in Luke's chambers, to telling each one that the other is looking them . Nothing seems to work.
Aegon starts to get desperate. He doesn't know how much longer he can watch his brother and nephew eyefuck at breakfast, lunch and dinner. It gets to the point where he sends whores to Aemond's room to make luke jealous, and hires some thugs to kidnap Lucerys to get some reaction out of Aemond. Any reaction out of either of them!
His brother ends up finding Lucerys within the hour and bringing him back to the red keep safe and sound, and Lucerys never finds out about the whores(Aemond always sends them away the moment they try to enter his chambers)
Aegon believes that the old gods and the new are laughing at his misery. He's all but given up on trying to get these two idiots together. In a last attempt to get them to realise thier feelings for each other, he asks Heleana for help. She tells him that 'The black raven will split the dragons dance'. Aegon thinks that sounds ominous, but Heleana tells him not to worry as 'The two dragons will dance again as one'.
Aegon decides to let fate run it's course, If Aemond and Lucerys are meant to be together, then they will be. Over the next few months everything stays more or less the same. Aegon spends time with Jace and Heleana and even starts sending letter to Baela and Rhaena on Driftmark.
Things start to change when a new maid starts working at the castle. Her hair, as black as a ravens feather and her eyes as green as dark forest leaves. Her name, Alys Rivers. Aegon doesn't think much of her at first, just another maid of no real importance.
He starts noticing her when he sees her around Aemond everyday. He notices how Aemond smiles and actually laughs around her. He notices that Lucerys no longer trails after his uncle Aemond.
Aegon thinks about getting rid of this maid, but ultimately realises he can't do anything after he finds out that his mother has grown quite fond of her as well.
One night, while walking back to his chambers and talking to Luke , they comes across a dishevelled Alys stumbing out of Aemond's room with a smile on her face. Aegon hopes to the gods that he's wrongs in his assumptions as to what transpired behind those doors. Unfortunately, Luke seems to come up with his own conclusion as to what was going on.
After that night, Aegon barely sees Lucerys around the caste. When he asks Aemond about it, his brother seems to remember he actually has a nephew, and goes to see him. Aegon decides to be nosey and eavesdrop thier conversation. By the time he reaches Luke's room, he sees Aemond leave with a frown on his face.
Aegon enters Luke's chambers and sees Lucerys crying. He immediately goes to embrace his nephew, he asks what happened. Luke cries in his arms for what feels like hours. When he calms down, he reveals to Aegon that he knew that he was trying to set him up with Aemond.
Aegon goes to apologise, but Lucerys stops him and tells him he doesn't mind. Luke says that he had hoped that Aemond felt the same as he had. But tonight when Aemond went to visit him , he revealed that he had feelings for him and Aemond responded by saying that he had fallen in love with Alys.
Aegon couldn't believe his ears. He knew love when he saw it. And he knew that Aemond was smitten with Lucerys. When he looked at Alys, Aegon couldn't even see lust in his younger brother's eye. Something wasn't adding up. Something didn't make sense. Something was Wrong.
How this Alys lady had managed to gain Aemond's favour in a matter of days. How even the Queen(who hates bastards) seems to dote on her. How Aemond suddenly stopped being interested in Lucerys the moment this woman appeared. Aegon pays his sister a visit.
Heleana tells him that Alys is a witch, and that she's put an enchantment on Aemond, to make him 'love' her in a way. This made far more sense to Aegon than it should have. He asks Heleana how to break the magic spell.
Heleana tells him that he needs to make Aemond get a strong enough reaction to something while he's in Alys' presence to cancel out his fake emotions.
Aegon comes up with one last plan. And he hopes to whichever god is listening that this works. For the sake of everyone involved.
He goes to Lucerys first and explains the situation. Luke doesn't believe him at first, but when Heleana confirms what Aegon has told him, he worries for Aemond's safety. Aegon tells him to wait for him in the Dragonpit, close to Sunfyre. He sends some maids to summon everyone in the throne room.
After everyone arrives, they demand to know what's going on. Aemond is standing in an almost trance like state with Alys by his side. Rhaenyra asks why he summoned them so urgently. Aegon looks at everyone in the room and hopes that Daemon won't try to cut his head for what he's about to say.
Aegon turns to the king, who sits on the throne and says that he wishes to marry Lucerys.
Silence is the only thing that can be heard in the throne room until Daemon and Viserys start laughing. They think he's joking, good. Well, good for Aegon in the sense he's not going to die. Bad in the sense that his statement doesn't get much of a reaction from Aemond.
Aegon repeats himself, this time looking straight into his brother's eyes. Viserys asks him why he would wish to marry lucerys. Without taking his eyes away for Aemond, he simply replies:
"I love him" This seems to get a reaction out of Aemond. Aegon decides to push it.
" And I swear that I will never make him cry"
Those last words are what finally make Aemond snap. He sees to come back to himself and immediately reaches for Aegon's neck. Aemond asks what he thinks he's doing. Aegon simply laughs and tells him that if he doesn't want their nephew, he'll gladly marry him himself.
Aemond punches Aegon.
Alys tries to stop him, but Aemond recoils from her touch. He looks at her and tells the guards to take her to the dungeons for the use of witchcraft on the Royal family. Aemond turns to Aegon and demands to know where Lucerys is. Aegon decides to be a little shit and tease his little brother.
Aegon reveals that after being heartbroken, Lucerys agreed to elope with Aegon to Essos and that he was waiting for him by Sunfyre. Aemond curses at him and runs out of the throne room. Everyone else in the room is confused. Aegon and Heleana explain what has been going on these past few weeks.
Meanwhile, Aemond all but runs to the dragonpit. He spots Lucerys waiting close to Aegon's dragon and runs up to him. When Luke sees him, he stiffens up and back away from his uncle. Aemond remebers what he said to Luke, how he had hurt his sweet nephew by ignoring him for so long. The look of pain hin his eyes after declaring his love for someone other than him. Aemond feels ashamed.
He gets on his knees and apologises for all that has happened. For the pain he put Lucerys through. For not being strong enough to fight off the curse on his own. For not being brave enough to confess his feelings for him before now.
Lucerys pulls him up and tells him not to apologise. He knows that he was under a magic spell. He forgives him . Aemond asks Luke if he was really going to run off with Aegon. Lucerys laughs and answers that he might have if the curse hadn't been lifted. Aemond doesn't like the sound of that and gets on his knees again.
This time he looks up and Lucerys and asks him to marry him. Lucerys is so happy, he starts to cry again. Of course he'll marry him, After Aemond courts him properly that is. Aemond can agree to those terms. He leans up, and they share thier first kiss.
TimeSkip to 6 years later:
Aegon is walking through the gardens with a little girl in his arms. He tells her the story of two lovers. About how they had to overcome trials and witches curses to be with one another. He tells her of a wedding so magical and magnificent, a wedding that lasted for days, blessed by the gods of old Valyria.
He tells her about a handsome hero that broke the curse and who selflessly helped the lovers get their happily ever after. How the evil witch was locked up for all of eternity . The white haired child looked up at him and laughed.
Visenya Targaryen loved hearing the story of how her parents ended up together. Her uncle Aegon was a bit dramatic in her opinion but he always made the story sound fun. She told him that she wanted to marry someone like the hero in the future. Her uncle Aegon simply laughed and tells her not to worry over such things.
He sends her off to play with his and Heleana's children Jaehera and Jaeherys. Visenya left with a smile on her face, looking for her cousins to play.
Aegon watches her go with a smile on his face. He really was a hero wasn't he? He didn't think things would work out so well, but they did. And Aegon isn't one to toot his own horn but, really, would any of this have happened if it weren't for him?
No, it wouldn't have. And he's happy he meddled in Luke and Aemond's love life. He's happy with Heleana and their own kids. He's happy for Lucerys and Aemond and their own little family . He's happy about everything, really.
And that's all that really matters isn't it?
