It's one of my absolute favorite fics about this couple for many reasons, and I could genuinely talk about it for hours, but I remember that this scene in particular is what struck me the most when I first read it. The concept of Mario being so vulnerable was still quite foreign to me back then, and I think I can safely say that it not only greatly influenced the way I now perceive this character, but it also helped me truly appreciate how profound and earnest he can be. 

This portrayal is incredibly dear to my heart, and the best version of Mario I have ever seen.
