8: common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
im gonna give two that have bugged me recently
1. i despise houses being treated as a monolith. defining and condemning a house as an “institution”? sure. but treating it as if it is a personality type, and equating every single character in it 😭. and if u wont take my word for this clearly not being the intention, take george’s:
2. a lot of ppl have a very frustrating way of engaging with how morality is being explored in the text, and project their own interpretation (which is fine to have) onto george, even when he explicitly contradicts it in interviews. it is not moral relativism for one, and it is not a psuedo intellectual “nobody’s good or bad 💔” in the way that a lot of ppl frame it. and i feel like this creates a frustrating phenomenon where people do want to combat this opinion, but they do so through shit like this lmao:
it is still meant to be complex, and i feel like some intentional moral dilemmas are engaged with in a pretty reductive way by fans despite the author’s actual intentions. also, the hero/villain dichotomy when it comes to certain protags and this genre itself is very intentionally being taken apart, and greyness is a spectrum, not a third category other than black/white, and these characters can move on it throughout the narrative. no pov is pure white or pure black, but that doesn’t mean they are in the center of the two either. if you are gonna use grrm calling certain characters villains in an interview, be aware that he also called them heroes in others, and not only in terms of “everybody is the hero of their own story.” he does seem to love the parallax when it comes to those labels specifically. he has stated before that he believes every human being is grey, and he tries to remember that when writing his characters, but ultimately it is the choices that they make that defines them: “We are all heroes, we are all villains, we all have the capacity for great good and we all have the capacity to do things that are selfish and evil and wrong. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference. In your lifetime, you can be both. And it's making choices that defines us as human beings.”
i dont care if the relationship is romantic, familial, or platonic. if they cup each other’s face in their hands with tears running down their cheeks im in
I need to know, I’ve looked for a while and can’t find anything (unless I’m just bad at looking) about what Lute’s height is. I’m just curious since she wifey and I wanna know her height. Do you have like a headcannon for her height?
I THINK SHES BETWEEN 6FT AND 7FT TALL !!!!
ok so bear with me here, but in these photos next to adam, she's roughly 2-3 heads shorter than him, so she's roughly 2-3 feet shorter. we know that adam is roughly 9-10 feet tall, so it would fit that she's probably around 6-7 ft tall.
plus, here is a comparison of vaggie and charlie's height. here, vaggie only just reaches charlie's shoulder. we know that charlie is 6,5, and vaggie is probably around a foot shorter than her.
in this photo vaggie roughly reaches lute's shoulder, putting her at about a foot shorter than lute. using this info we can assume that charlie and lute are relatively close in height. the perspective makes it appear as though vaggie is standing closer to the viewer so we can attribute that to the fact that she's slightly taller compared to lute when compared to charlie.
i sadly couldn't find a comparison of lute and charlie next to eachother, but i've overall come to the conslusion that lute is around 6 to 7 ft tall (maybe 6,5?).
my 5,2 ass would absolutely climb her like a tree btw.
