I think fans want Jason to be a good person or be becoming one. To have a character that is well meaning and compassionate but decided murder is ok and to stand against main heroes who’s beliefs and actions go against the people he cares about and wants in his life. It’s confusing for people. People want their fav characters to be happy. But Jason can’t have his family’s support and follow his moral code. He’s cares about people and Gotham, and he’s an asshole who kills. It’s messy. It’s not black and white. I don’t even think Jason cares about being a good person or in the right anymore. I think he cares about what will save the most people instead.

Oh my goodness gracious I’ve been bamboozled

Batman’s definition of Good is not synonymous with absolute good/right no matter how much dc insists it is. Torture, battery/assault, surveillance, those are all condemnable actions too. I won’t get into the exhausting and frankly dumb debate of comic book morality wrt killing because I’ve already reblogged plenty of posts from other people who explained my thoughts on the matter far better than I ever have the patience to sit down and articulate. I also just think the notion that there’s something to be done about fictional characters who kill nazis and senseless murderers is stupid. Jason’s point is that the “main” heroes’ sanitized definition of right has its unaddressed holes and flaws which ultimately result in more preventable fatalities, and that he’ll work to correct those missing spots.

He doesn’t not care about doing what’s right. What he doesn’t care about (at least during his Winick characterization) is whether Batman thinks he’s right or wrong, because he sees the flaws in Batman’s methodology (and since he has a mind of his own). Batman’s methods alone cannot address Arkham’s revolving door and the rogues that come and go through those doors who have no intention (or capability from the doylist pov) of ever changing or undergoing redemption. Jason knows that he’s minimizing the number of preventable deaths by killing his targets, typically Characters Who Simply Do Fucked Up Shit Just Because, Why The Fuck Not?

Secondly, Jason is compassionate … to a fault. That was his fatal flaw. If he wasn’t so hell-bent on saving his potential birth mother he just met from that bomb despite everything she did to him prior, he could have protected himself instead, however slim his odds of survival were. What about his relationship with his other parents? He was a caregiver during his early childhood years for Catherine, until her death. Even mature adults who are financially stable find being a caregiver to a dying parent to be extremely burdensome on their bodies and minds, but he never complained about it or resented Catherine for being unable to care for him. Despite how none of his parents have really been what he needed them to be, he doesn’t blame them for their failings, and even continues to think highly of them (Bruce included).

And post-death? Enter Lost Days. Despite being dead set on plotting his revenge on Bruce, he constantly sidelines this in order to save other victims who are helpless like he once was. His own anger, trauma, and mission don’t remain his priority. (Sound familiar? Something something my own trauma above my son’s, mission above all else, etc.). Why would he waste precious time and risk his own life to do this if he wasn’t empathetic towards these victims or didn’t care about doing the right thing. He is simultaneously horribly traumatized and full of rage, and also incapable of ignoring what’s happening to victims around him (even as he claims that it’s indeed not his priority). And in that same vein, the entire premise of his rebirth outlaws run was that he doesn’t care if the public views him as a villain, an outlaw, so long as he can protect Gotham. And anyway where is this portrayal of him not caring about being in the right anymore. Almost every modern Jason story is about him grappling with where he stands with Bruce/Batman. During the early 2000s was probably the last time he did not care (hello, tentatodd??).

Jason has very evidently been portrayed as a kind and compassionate character. He is also simultaneously a calculated killer who doesn’t hesitate to kill when he deems necessary, and does so without remorse. It’s called being a Complex Character With An Edge™ that as you said, people so often claim to love. However when he fulfills that latter part, that seems to upset people because “killing bad”, and they then try to shave off and round out all his edges and claim he shouldn’t be that angry. In that case I guess you should just stick to liking traditional one-dimensional characters instead of claiming to like Jason but then encouraging his character assassination attempt by dc. Lol.

Lastly, who said anything about the batfam making Jason happy? Just because he’s written nowadays to want acceptance from Bruce (a shoddy attempt at forcing a non-existent nuclear batfamily), doesn’t mean that it’s a sound decision or that it does his character justice. I certainly don’t empathize with the idea that Jason needs the family’s approval or acceptance to be happy. (And anyway he has enough outlets for angst and pain aside from the batfam hello explore his other sources of trauma and do more deep dives into how he thinks when he’s alone). I don’t want them to magically make up and become one big happy family. This is not disney Lol. Besides, there are plenty of stories from dc that have that type of “wholesome” (hate that word utilization) characterization for Jason (Li’l Gotham, Tiny Titans, wfa, and even new stuff like the brave and the bold mini) and that is sufficient imo. Jason fans who are invested in the character deserve accurate, nuanced characterization and well-written stories, whether they be from his robin days (e.g., Batman: The Cult) or as red hood.

okay quick note: this is literally something thats been in my head for like 2 or 3 days if you see consistency issues ignore them bless. also for consistency purposes shadow has a higher concentration of chaos energy (bc i dont think this is ever said in any games but is just kinda implied)

the basic premise is that maria and shadow both survived the raid on the ARK and survived the fall to earth

Maria does still get injured and, in an attempt to heal her injuries, is able to use his own chaos energy to not only heal her, but more or less reverse the effects of NIDS at the cost of keeping his black arms traits completely at bay

additionally this extreme concentration effectively ruins his regulators, causing his issues with his black arms traits to be worse than they couldve been

With the reversal of her disease, Maria's lifespan and aging process is uh. kinda messed up, extending it by a pretty significant amount by making her aging process much slower

they go into hiding best they can and the 50 year timeskip that takes place in sa2 instead becomes time where they try and figure out 1. how the world works and 2. more about their past bc they were both kept in the dark about things while on the ARK (basically wtf was going on with shadows creation and why did GUN attack in the first place)

on the other hand, shadow experiences some mutations (third eye, sharper claws, increased amount of red quills/fur) and is more prone to violent episodes

these episodes are especially bad during their first few years on mobius but after awhile hes able to keep these episodes at bay much much better

i also lied when i said i wouldnt post the art this entire post is the entire au as of right now so heres their (still kinda wip) modern designs

this is where i havent thought things out as well but uhh BASICALLY maria hears about tails and how hes a genius and goes "huh. maybe this guy can help us but i have no clue on how to contact him"

this is also where things are very muddy but more or less shadow and sonic accidentally meet, maria finds them about to beat the shit out of eachother and offers sonic a meal as an apology

during this she tells shadow about tails and sonic goes "oh hey thats my brother :D" and there is no way to describe how they react in text so heres a doodle

as an agent for GUN, rouge is more or less the only true key they have to figuring everything out, so they have tails contact her (sonic and tails arent friends with her but its tails he has his ways) and she agrees to help them and uncover their past through some good ol spy work against gun, but says that theres a hefty price behind this work, that price being the chaos emeralds (this is her idea of being absurd and telling them that theres no way in hell she would do the job without being payed shittons of money) but they go "ok lol"

sonic tells tails about shadow and maria and how they want his help, and tails agrees

he does scans on the both of them and tells them exactly what happened to them all that time ago (marias disease being reversed, shadows glorified hormone imbalance) but says that he cant help with much else because he just. doesnt know enough about either of their conditions to really give any solid insight or advice but knows someone who might . this is where rouge comes in :}

this is where things kinda leave off bc like i said i thought of this like. three days ago LOL

right around this time the black arms invasion starts and through a series of events that i also havent thought out yet shadow gets like. partially assimilated into the hivemind

he still has his own conscious thoughts but cant control his actions, making him a threat

Astrology Observations II

Note : these are based on experiences and personal observations. Observations mentioned may not accurately apply to everyone 🩷

🫀Someone's life path number could be the number which is strongly tied to that person's signature sign in their chart, either being the number of the house that originally rules their signature sign or a characteristic that is tied with that signature sign.

Examples: My signature sign is Aquarius and I'm a life path number 9 , life Path 9 is associated with being the humanitarian and serving the collective

My mother is a life path 3 and her signature sign is Gemini , which is originally ruled by the 3rd house. My brother is a life path 6 and his signature sign is Virgo, which is Virgo’s house. I also read about life path 4 being strategists and I've known someone who's signature sign is Capricorn which corresponds with such energy

🫀Unpopular opinion but if I had to switch the signs elements, I'd put Scorpio as a fire sign and Aquarius as a water sign. With Scorpio it's probably because it was originally ruled by Mars, Scorpio always gives me such a fire energy compared to Pisces and Cancer. Not exactly Scorpio sun but dominating Scorpio energy in the chart, i think it's also the intensity they ooze and the level of confidence and also self- assertion, they have such a commanding presence which gives me fire energy too

As for Aquarius, despite having the characteristics of being quite distant at times or having difficulty with opening up, it's usually for how intense they are, it's a form of protection. I've made the mistake in the past of seeing aquas as detached until they actually unfolded which shocked me, the amount of depth and intensity of emotions they hold is a 360 and I've observed the same in my chart. It might be due to them being a fixed sign,but definitely that depth doesn't give the air sign vibe. Another reason is how they tend to be more introverted or reserved compared to Gemini and Libra, it gives me that water energy too

🫀Chiron in first is such a difficult placement in my opinion. It either puts you in a constant self - conscious state or you project your trauma on every situation and blur reality from there

TORGAL!!!!!!! the most loyal and fluffy hound in all of valisthea. so warm and cuddly. such a good boy. i enjoy feeding him lots of treats. clive’s heart always aches seeing the two of us snuggled up together napping.

yes!

technically we’ve been living in the same place together since he arrived to the hideaway but we didn’t start sharing chambers together til a short while after we starting dating.

the infirmary 😭 i was working as an apprentice under tarja at the time and aided in tending to jill when cid brought her in.

after completing my training i started going on assignments as a healer and would often join clive n co. 😌

i have!!! i’ve met joshua, jill, his uncle and his mother (unfortunately). did not get to meet his father before his passing, sadly (RIP TO A DILF 😔)

i simply do not have living family in most of my selfships 😭😭 so he has not met any of my relatives

definitely me 😔 it’s always 50/50 on whether my jokes hit or not.

clive is funny but it’s always unintentional (whereas i’ll put in effort to make people laugh) he’ll do or say something and get a giggle out of me and be like ???

😯: have you two ever taken a road trip/vacation?

not intentionally. we’ve traveled lots of places but never for leisure because we’re both such busy bees. if we’re both not out on assignments we’re usually still working. i spend most of my time in the infirmary than not.

that being said, i do make note of all the scenic places we visit to bookmark them for when more peaceful times come. the first place i’d want us to go to together is the sea. i feel the most at peace there.

😠: what’s the worst fight you’ve had?

we both have a habit of running into danger especially when the other’s life is at stake heh heh i’d say the worst outburst was during one particular scare clive gave me with his injuries.

after patching him up i became sort of passive aggressive towards him and when he calls me out on it i kind of blow up about how he can be really reckless sometimes, that i understand the importance of destroying the mother crystals but his safety will always be most important to me (as selfish as it is) and it ends up with me sobbing in his arms crying about how if anything ever happened to him i don’t know if i could go on.

obviously he’s very powerful but i can’t help but worry!!!!!!

imo, clive is big on words of affirmation. gentle reminders that he’s not actually the big bad monster he often thinks he is. just sticking by him throughout everything means a lot.

we both do! though clive is more reserved than i. i kinda get in fits where i’m overwhelmed with energy and need to melt into him like butter and crawl all over him. there’s no containing me at that point.

though most of the time in public it’s just me holding him from behind or hugs. his embrace is always really comforting and calming and he always indulges me ^_^

though he won’t initiate kisses in front of others cause it makes him embarrassed. i’m always the one pressing a chaste kiss to his lips after finishing up in the dining hall, leaving him in his flustered state with the rest of our dining companions.

depends on the day tbh. i’m the one who usually tries to go to sleep early, since i love mornings. sometimes we’re both up late working, or plagued with thoughts of the past. i usually fall asleep before he does regardless of what time it is while he keeps a watchful eye over my sleeping form.

clive and i are both chronic calling each other by their name type people 😭

but in more intimate settings, he’ll call me angel and i’ll let a baby or two slip out

first kiss!! first kiss!!!

okay so it wasn’t long before we started dating. he had gotten injured while he was out and had to visit the infirmary. tarja wasn’t in and i was the only one running things. he had a few gashes that needed to be stitched as well as a few abrasions.

after 13 long years of fighting, i was the first gentle and “loving” touch he had. we’d friends for a short while at that point, some mutual pining going on though neither of us were acting on it.

at that point he was still in the mentality of not thinking he was deserving of any kindness due to what happened in his past. so when i come around gently stitching up his and tending to his other wounds, he’s taken aback. plus i may have been chastising him on being more careful cause there’s people around the hideaway (me) who worry for his safety and bla bla bla.

basically he gets overwhelmed with feeling and doesn’t know how to deal with it other than pulling me for a kiss. (mid stitch mind you!!! he was lucky no further damage was caused)

7: favorite companions? least favorite companions?

im going to absolutely whiff this one bc i haven't gotten everyone yet and have mostly traveled alone when playing the game 😭 so its all subject to change

he's not really the sort of person to *hate* many people. he probably says he likes all of his companions equally, even if that's not fully accurate.

chip sort of picks up boone by accident, but he appreciates the hired muscle because he's quite rattled after the goodsprings incident. they mutually don't talk much about their pasts and have a very weird, sad, unspoken homoerotic cowboy tension going.

i think he really enjoys raul's company, and likely, he reminds him a bit of his family-- though chip can't remember much in detail about his past. he's probably his favorite, though less for entirely practical reasons and more because he's just really nice to have around.

he'd like lily, too, for the same reasons--she's comforting to have around and finds her situation really relatable (traumatic brain injury 🤝 nightkin mental illness)

his absolute favorites, though, are ED-E and rex, since they don't judge him for much and are pretty lovable.

10: where were they born/raised? when/why did they leave?

chip is from battle mountain, nevada:

and grew up with his mother, aunties, uncles, and grandmother on (former) res lands. they were mostly farmers/ranchers. his father was a caravaneer and visited when he could, though he disappeared sometime in chip's teenage years. not long after, chip decided to leave home to look for his father. in the process, he joined the mojave express to make some money for his travels. he's continued to look for him over the years, though he's been having a difficult time. more on that in a different question, i'm sure ;)

12: how did the bullet affect them?

chip DEFINITELY has a TBI and some personality changes and frequent mood-swings. he also has amnesia to the degree that he can't remember his own name (but he could remember the platinum chip, hence, "chip.") he's usually quite friendly and easy-going with a weirdo sort of charm; though he sometimes has depressive episodes, gets anxious or paranoid, gets overly angry at small things, and has trouble with attention and processing information. he's not very good with hacking computers anymore, for example.

another big change is his becoming very attached to a crow he's named bernard. they met in goodsprings, after bernard came up to his grave site and started pecking his fingers and following him around. he usually sits on his shoulder, hat, or sometimes lets chip hold him in his coat. chip "talks" to bernard often to cope with his stress.

28: how do they feel about killing people? do they try to avoid it?

before being shot, i think he would have objected pretty strongly to killing people and likely only carried a hand-gun on him for emergencies with wildlife.

afterwards, though, his stance is much changed. he can be a bit trigger-happy, though with his (unknowing) charisma, he's generally pretty good at talking himself out of trouble.

a few days ago someone that was into hunger/feeding stuff (kink-not-kink) interacted with me they had a cool blog and i saw alot of 🤝 with the stuff that they liked and both of my eds so i sent them a projecty headcanon i have that childe has the same kind of eds and that he have tried to match how much zhongli ate to be polite without realizing that zhongli is a dragon and eventually li notices and helps him

a few hours later i got a dm explaining that my headcanon is cute but tgey wouldnt post my ask becuz it was ed-related and theg didnt want to fetishize eds (my hc is about childe having arfid/problems with texture and the weight of food i reworded itn to be more like the fanfic and prompts on that persons blog the only ed mention was a crossed out joke that i about about myself projecting)

witch is fine!!!! its there blog they dont have to post anything and they where really nice am trying to rewright it to be "without the ed" for them!!!

the thing that am upset about is that alot of stuff on there blog was litteraly eating disorder stuff but eithout warnings the community was fine with charaters fasting randomly for 2 days or being way to hungry for just forgetting lunch or stuff like that but when i try to go like !!!🤝!!! hi!!! heres a headcanon i have thats like this stuff!!!! :D i am treated like i dropped a live grenade for mentioning that the hc came from my mental health stuff instead of kink/kink but not in a kinky way

to be clear, i do think their relationship dynamic is incredibly interesting. & whats more? i do think that being allied through all of the shit they have, as well as the whole marineford situation, has given both of them a genuine respect, care & even love for each other.

but i really struggle to see that as romantic. in general, neither of them are really the type to love in a traditional, romantic way.

on luffy's end, he just. is like that. he loves so many people, & i do think he would be the type to get so close to his friends that outsiders could view it as "romance" (aka kissing the homies goodnight), but the second you suggested dating to him, he'd hate it. luffy would not be tied down like that, & even the idea of a label would be stifling for him, so i genuinely just can't see it ever happening.

on law's end, he is mentally ill ❤️ but jokes aside, he also values his freedom to an extent that even rivals luffy. we get glimpses of how he doesn't actually hate his time with the strawhats, & i 1000% think his portrayal of that is almost entirely an act similar to the one he puts on for the world of being a ruthless monster. but in the end he still prefers to be his own person. man even left his crew, who he's known since he was a kid, to go on a solo mission he fully expected to die doing.

relationships irl are often rewarding, of course, but they're also inherently limiting in terms of personal autonomy. to have a serious relationship you need to limit your immediate wants & desires for the sake of someone you love. you need to limit your freedom to act as you want to act & like...neither party here is really a big fan of that, imo.

tl;dr law & luffy have a lot of potential as a relationship, but i just can't bring myself to see it as a traditionally romantic one!! so thank you for feeling the same 😭 very refreshing

“It’s a fever, like any fever— it’ll kill him. Eventually.” Shorty’s been medic for like a million years by now but even he blushes as he adds, “Unless someone fucks the toxin out of him.”

Fenn pokes his head into the tent. “Did you just say—“

“Out!” Ves snaps, going for her blades. She likes Fenn, he’s practical, and a ruthless son of a bitch, but she doesn’t trust his sense of judgement— he likes to poke people when they’re weak, and he likes to prod Roche when he’s antsy, and if he gets into one of his moods about this- this— whole stupid mess? She’s not having it. “Watch the door, and send somebody to get Thirteen,” she says in her Commander voice, the one she stole from Roche. Then she turns to Shorty. “Did you just say—?”

“As far as I could ever tell, it’s nontoxic to elves,” Shorty offers uselessly. “Only humans— well, half-humans too— are affected to the point of life threatening illness, but I’m told it’s used as an aphrodisiac for elven fertility rituals.”

Ves puts her hands on her hips. “Why do you know that,” she says with a squint.

“I’ve lost patients to it before,” he says with a weary look— his whiskers hide a lot of the lines of his face, but his eyes get very tired every time he thinks about the men he’s lost. “The first, we didn’t realise what was happening— the fever didn’t get him, it was the clawing at his own belly to get at his insides that did it.”

Ves feels a cold wave of horror inside her own stomach at the thought— “The second time, I recognized the symptoms. Got one of the boys to try his hand at managing it for the lad, but… my helper couldn’t go long enough to keep the fever down and the other one died. Fever cooked his brain through.”

Roche makes a pained noise then, hunching in on himself. Ves stares blankly at his shivering, bony back, picturing him digging his fingers into his gut to carve out the pain and ache as they all watch helplessly. The little red lines of infection— are they a little longer? A little darker, coursing through Roche’s veins like Black Ones clogging up the rivers, invading and burning as they go?

“Ok. So. We fuck him,” she says, decisively.

for you: the story of conman, grifter, terrible actor Sophie Devereaux Julian Pancratz, who never went to Oxenfurt academy, stole the lute that he has the first time he meets Geralt, and makes up terrible songs in order to preserve his cover, and then keeps doing it because he wants Geralt to like him.

morally grey grifter meets unintentionally honorable witcher, somehow catches feelings. he’s in it for the long con.

gangster AU— noir is a genre i’m not much used to writing in, and urban fantasy pseudo-noir even less so 😂 but i really love all the brainstorming that this mob boss au generated on discord and i wanna write more of thisssssss

also more cowboy au, i like cowboy au

i will use the same tropes i know and love, where loyalty without morals is violence, and twisted fealty might feel like love but it’s still a power imbalance. (squishing Roche until he squeaks is my main motivation)
