“You’re humming,” Jake whined, pressing the tiny glass plates together on the specimen he’d been charged with examining at his station.

Bradley laughed as he leaned over the tray of blood samples he was busy diluting with a pipette at an adjacent countertop. “Why does it bother you so much?”

“You know why,” Jake sulked. He carefully placed the slide beneath his microscope lens, just as Bradley began openly singing the words. “Slow ride, take it easy-“

Jake was about to complain again when he saw it. An icy chill laced up his spine. It couldn’t be possible. He must have made a mistake. Only, he didn’t. “Bradley.”

“Yeah?” The brunet chuckled.

“Come look at this.”

The tremor in Jake’s voice made Bradley look up. A moment later his stricken expression matched Jake’s own. He swallowed, a cold sweat beginning to dapple his forehead. “Who…who do we tell?”

“Everybody.”

MDZS fanfic prompt: the arm at Mo village being Wei Wuxian’s arm

I was readinh a fanfic where, when Lan Wangji arrives at Cloud Recesses after coming back from Mo village, and is talking with Lan Xichen about the fierce arm they found there, Lan Xichen asks him if he thinks that the arm might be Wei Wuxian’s. My brain automatically created a whole plot, and, since I just can’t bring myself to write anything anymore, I decided to share it here for whoever wants to use it. No need to even credit me for the plot if you use it, just send me the link of the fanfic and I’ll already be happy.

Plot idea:

When Wei Wuxian destroyed the Stygian seal, the blacklash killed him and shattered his soul, but didn’t make the fierce corpses around torn it into pieces. The Jin, in secret, took his body back to Lanling and Jin Guangshan gave it to Xue Yang for him to try finding a way to bring Wei Wuxian back as a cognant fierce corpse like Wen Ning, so they could control him and still have him cognant to create inventions and fix the Stygian seal.

Nothing none of the demonic cultivators Jin Guangshan and Jin Guangyao had under their power managed to do so, not even Xue Yang. Wei Wuxian’s spiritual cognition was no longer on his body, so they couldn’t make him a sentient fierce corpse. They tried to make him a powerful non-sentient fierce corpse, but it backfired on them, because Wei Wuxian might not have been resentful while alive, but he did hold quite the resentment towards the Jin, and he was always enduring the shit people threw at him, so the corpse became became too powerful and violent for them to control.

At the end, they had to dismember the body to safely supress it on long term. The head was kept at the secret room, side by side to where some years later Nie Mingjue’s head would be kept, and the rest of the parts were scattered throught Lanling, Qinghe, Yunmeng and Gusu so there would be no risk of the parts finding their way back to each other. 

When Nie Mingjue is killed and Nie Huaisang start ploting his revenge, he not only finds his brother’s arm, he also finds Wei Wuxian’s. Some time later, he sends both Nie Mingjue’s arm and Wei Wuxian’s arm to Mo village so that the newly resurrected Wei Wuxian could find the rest of his own body too and give it a proper burrial.

i do often forget that most people reading the locked tomb don't have a background in catholic doctrine and tradition. which is fine and the books obviously can be read without knowing the theological references, but it is an ENTIRELY different experience to read about consuming flesh as part of the lyctoral theorem and immediately be like "ah yes. Holy Communion"
