One thing that bugs me about Astarion's storyline is that you can miss most of his story if you simply don't have him in your party at the right moment. Gandrel, Raphael (in Last Light Inn), Araj, Raphael (in front of the mausoleum), his siblings in Fraygo's flophouse. (And if you don't rest enough times before going to Cazador you won't even meet his siblings). I'm watching a streamer right now and I'm screaming at the screen because he has not had Astarion with him for any of these things and it's the most frustrating thing ever.

#like I wish that Raphael would at least tell you to go get him #to be fair this streamer/youtuber sucks anyways because he's 130 episodes in and he still hasn't figured out stealth attacks #which is why he keeps Astarion in camp because according to him “Astarion isn't known for his damage output” #oh my sweet summer child #if only you knew #he also has Gale wearing armour #and he has not yet figured out that you're supposed to talk to your companions even if there's no exclamation mark above their head #he also only rested like 3 times in act 1 #this is a guy who's known for how thoroughly he explored companions/npcs stories #but he's doing none of that with bg3 for some reason #it's maddening #i don't even know why i'm watching this anymore

Linktober Day 3

Short drabble once again because my notebook has decided to give up the good fight but my phone isn't down for the count yet.

Showcasing how I'm not over the fact that Fi and Shadow Link (specially the Four Swords Manga iteration) are technically the One constant all of the Links all but share and how people don't talk about it enough. And also my way to cope over rereading the Four Swords Adventures Manga again and my denial over Shadow being gone.

In the late hours of the night, you liked to talk to Fi and Shadow.

You weren’t sure if they could listen, not really, Sky said she fell asleep after his journey and First confirmed it soon after he joined the Chain, with the most heartbreakingly saddest smile, not quite grieving, but not quite ready to let go as -out of perhaps Legend- they were the ones who handled it with the most care. An echo and reflection of the way Four couldn’t quite look at mirrors without the rainbow in his eyes becoming more visible, almost gray in the shared grief in his mind and would say naught when questioned about it, choosing to deflect rather than clarify.

‘An eternal dream.’ was how vaguely how it had been described should anyone ask, ‘Not death in a way that matters, but... Close, almost enough to count.’

So over time, as you remained awake for your shifts once you’ve grow closer to the Chain, once you proved yourself as someone who could keep up and stand their ground, and a friend and a confidant over many, many sleepless nights and laughter and adversity, you couldn’t help but want to include them too as the rest of the Chain went to sleep and your watch time came. Usually masking it as telling stories or singing to either Wolfie or Epona.

You knew First knew, you were absolutely sure Sky was aware as the one who held the Sword that Seals Darkness the most, and that Four was onto you whenever you leaned somewhere nearby where his shade was cast.

Given as none of them called you out on it, you didn’t see any reason to stop.

(You couldn’t hear Fi the way they could, couldn’t tell the subtle shifts in the shadows under warm firelight the way Four had grown used to as Vio, but some times, you swore you could listen to an accompanying chime in duet, or catch the glimpse of the mirage of a smile

It wasn’t much, but it was enough.)

and now to reveal the true purpose of a pokemon au: giving all the characters pokemon so I can imagine cute little scenarios w/ them and their mons.

So for ‘Hikaru’ I’m feeling a Ninetales and Yanma. Ninetales was Hikaru’s; Yanma he caught in the summer. The stone for evolving Vulpix was a gift from his late father, and he had the Vulpix much earlier than was typical training age. Yoshiki can’t remember a time Hikaru didn’t have a Pokemon by his side. At the same time, Hikaru was never very good with Pokemon, so Ninetales remained the only member of his team.

Then Yoshiki has a Grimer, Teddiursa, and Murkrow. He got the Grimer as a kid while visiting Tokyo as they’re quite common in densely populated areas- less so in cleaner rural areas, making it’s an odd sight in Kubitachi. Teddiursa is a much more common pokemon, and while it is cute, its evolution is less so for how dangerous it is. Murkrow are generally despised as pests. Known pranksters, the ones on the mountains are blamed for a lot of missing people as they’re known to lead people astray. Yoshiki’s team choices are widely discussed and criticized.

Next few are less set in stone:

Asako: Azumarill, Flaafy

Yuuki: Ivysaur

Maki: Elekid, Magikarp (based on two in-universe baseball teams)

#I limited my options to gens 1 & 2 as well as a lvl cap of 20 for the kids #Btw none of them are like professional trainers traveling around the region. Theyve pkmn in the same way everyone in the pkmn universe does #Pets and companions. Occasionally battling for fun or to settle smth #I also didn’t want to give them too many ‘mons although I’m considering giving Asako another #Keeping Yuuki at 1. She’s the type to only be able to dedicate herself to 1 Pokemon at a time #Like she knows everything about caring for /Ivysaur/. Nothing else. Not even for a Bulbasaur. She forgot all that as soon as it evolved #But uh I also ain’t too sure about Ivysaur for her. I wanted smth with a type opposite Azumarill #Which leaves the grass/poisons; the Magnemite line; and the Houndour line #But I want Yoshiki to have the only dark type and Magnemite wouldn’t fit in w/ the rural vibe imo. so idk if i mentioned this but i got really into gardening this year. i've wanted to grow my own vegetables ever since i was a kid and now i have a garden i can actually do it. so i went all out. i grew tomatoes and strawberries and courgettes and peppers (they didn't go so well, wrong climate) and i spent weeks digging up the bamboo that the former owners planted (top tip: NEVER PLANT FUCKING BAMBOO, IT'S THE DEVIL'S PLANT) so i would have more room to grow things and it was SO FUN going out and picking my own food straight out of the garden, being like 'hmm i kinda feel like lettuce' and then just. going and grabbing some from the garden. AMAZING!!!

anyways then i went on holiday for two weeks and my family did not really take care of my garden while i was gone (fair, not their job) and the wind trashed my plants so i kinda lost enthusiasm cos it was all wrecked, and then all my tomatoes got a disease due to irregular watering because i couldn't be bothered going out there to water them every night, and THEN it was winter. so i lost interest and now i only go out into the garden to put potato peelings in the compost bin

and i was sat here like damn, i really hope that gardening wasn't just a short-lived obsession because it's easily one of the coolest hobbies i've had and also gets me away from the Horrors, aka, screens and the internet, and also let's be real, i spent way too much money on compost and plant pots, so it'd really suck if i never do that again, especially because everyone says the first year you grow your own food it's not really helpful financially cos all the supplies cost so much, it's only when you've been doing it for a year or two and figure shit out and don't have to start from scratch that it starts saving you money. so like. it would be nice to actually reap some financial benefits of what was a very expensive hobby lmao. (i bought OVER TWO HUNDRED LITRES OF COMPOST. IT SOUNDS LIKE A LOT BUT UNFORTUNATELY IT'S REALLY NOT, ESPECIALLY WHEN MOST OF YOUR GARDEN IS PATIO SO YOU HAVE TO GROW EVERYTHING IN CONTAINERS)

ANYWAY tl;dr the switch flipped in my brain again and i spent an hour today looking up different kinds of runner bean. there's a variety called firestorm, so obviously i'm gonna have to try and grow that. and i'm mentally planning out everything i'm gonna grow and now i'm chewing on the bars of my enclosure cos i can't start growing anything until april >:( boooooo

#i also really wanna grow different kinds of tomato #i had 8 cherry tomato plants this summer and it was GREAT. i never had to buy tomatoes. which was useful cos i eat a lot of them #but i wanna branch out (pun absolutely intended) and grow some of the cool-looking ones #i found some black ones. emo tomatoes!! i wanna grow them so bad!! #and i wanna see if my strawberries are more productive this year cos apparently they don't do much in their first year #i'm excited to try beans cos i've not tried those yet. and hopefully my peppers will do better this year... #and i'm also gonna try companion planting and weave some flowers in among it all for the pollinators!! I'M SO HYPED #i'm also gonna try and grow some more fruit this year cos that shit is EXPENSIVE #i'm not gonna do that from seed though. i'm gonna buy a couple of fruit trees. you can get raspberry bushes that are designed to grow in #pots. same with blueberries. my friend is gonna get me a blueberry bush for christmas!! so i just need to get the compost. they need acidic #soil. GAHHHH I CAN'T WAIT #pls brain. don't let this obsession die by the time i can actually get out there and grow things

since its impossible to watch xy without commenting on it (tho im gonna try my best) just wanna say that i dont inherently hate the idea of ash and serena being together or them being shipped in the show. in fact, it kinda makes sense that they’d choose the arc that takes place in france to give ash a blatant love interest. i actually shipped them when i was a kid and this was first airing, lol. so whatever i say about it, it’s not really coming from a place of “ugh its not the ship i wanted to have happen” because they’re ten and i dont care. 

but then the issue after that is. they’re ten and i dont care.
