I've watched season 1-3 of winx in less than 4 days, and I'm so glad I grew up on that instead of cocomelon. Even when the script seemed cringe and not as fleshed out as it could be, they never made the people watching the show seem stupid (they made Bloom seem stupid instead, lol (half-joke)). The dialogue could be simplefied and sometimes a bit naive, but at the same time they never made it feel very simple? Maybe I'm just blinded bc I'm a sucker for illustrated animations, but the fact that they could make a complicated storyline with a lot of character arcs, while keeping the dialogue simple enough for kids to follow, is just amazing. And as if that wasn't amazing enough, the show had good balance in the art - it was colourful, the characters were dynamic and unique with different siluettes (something i rarely see in kids shows today), while also appealing to the preteen audience: the winx girls are strong, stylish, girly girls, who can seek out love from men without needing them to save them. They show that you can be unique in your friend group, and you can still be loved and appreciated (thinking about Musa, Techna and later on Aisha/Layla, who all aren't the stereotypical sweet/soft/stylish girls, but who still find friends who love them for who they are). (More analysis beneath the read more thing - mainly a discussion on how family is represented in the show and how important it is for children to be able to look up to female figures that can represent them. + some other stuff.)
Winx also casts light on a lot of different family dynamics - something i've only really seen Bluey do well recently. Stella's parents are divorced, Bloom is adopted, Musa's relationship with her dad is strained ever since her mom died, Aisha/Layla is an only child who struggled with lonliness despite having both of her parents together (they were absent bc of their royal duties), Techna doesnt seem to have any mayor issues, nor does Flora. And the thing is - these struggles are shown in such natural ways in the show. All of these dynamics turn out to be part of their journeys - Bloom struggles as a fairy because of her unknown past, so she must resolve it and find out more to be able to become a fully fledged fairy. Stella has dealt with her divorced parents most of her life, but in season 3 the entire Valtor thing strains her relationship with her father, and she has to overcome it so she can save him from Cassandra or whatever that duchess was called (girlie practically gets banned from her home planet, don't you forget). Faragonda brings Musa's dad to her first concert, which once again strains their relationship, but then strengthens it when he sees how capable she is, both as a musician and as a fairy. Aisha/Layla displays how it is to have more traditional parents - as a child she had lots of expectations to be a proper princess, which she for a long time still had trauma from, plus that her parents wanted to pick her future husband for her (they were all lucky that the two of them matched well lol). And then we have Flora who showed off sisterhood in an amazing way - worrying over and scolding her little sister, but never doubting for a second that she'd risk her life to save her. To the point though - everyone faces difficulties that can be reflected in most people's lives, and the show makes these journeys meaningful and important. I personally never had a need to see myself represented in my family situation, but my friend had divorced parents, and she told me that Stella's viewpoint made it easier for little her to deal with it. If Stella could overcome it (reminder that she still allowed herself to feel sad about it) then so could my friend.
Now, while I'm at it, I might as well continue ranting:
Maybe I'm just not updated in modern shows, but isn't there an entire market of preteens who are missing these types of shows today? We're always talking about how clothing trends and social media is forcing younger people to grow up eariler, but let's not forget that these kids have nothing if they don't decide to grow up immediately. There's no shows, no "toys" (i'm mostly talking about merch that caters to young people - "H2O just add water" pillowcases and diaries etc) and no older teens in these shows setting appropriate clothing trends. Shows aren't cool enough nowadays for preteens to see the appeal of being young. Too many shows are changing their target audience to younger and younger children - and not only shows! Just look at the Nesquik bunny! He went from 100% drip and style, to 100% millenial.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ik this isn't anyone in particulars fault, but this is just my way of saying: go back to unique styles and outfits! Shows aren't cool anymore, and removing the illustrated style and exaggeration is absolutely part of that.
I also saw someone on TikTok critique the pace of the earlier seasons - they said everything was too slow-paced and boring, and honestly? I couldn't disagree more. Now, I don't have any difficulties concentrating, so maybe it's a bigger problem for people with ADHD or similar diagnosis, but the slower pace gave more time for me to immerse myself in the winx world. They added amazing vocals and soundtrack, that could either showcase heartbreak or joy, and these details made the show reach much higher quality, despite looking like it was made in the cheapest animation program ever.
I went off on a tangent, but I'm getting back to winx now - what I mean is that kids nowadays have no authentic way of finding shows like winx, mainly because there aren't any! Most shows are made for kids under the age of 8 or over the age of 13, and there's almost no inbetween. Shows don't do it like winx did anymore - they don't make the art appealing enough (bc the shows are never illustrated - fair enough i'll add, bc illustrated animation is too expensive to be profitable nowadays, but not even the animation is appealing anymore, they're all rapunzel-lookalikes/wannabes), they don't trust that the watchers have brains and critical thinking, so they make the stories too dumb, they don't have the guts to make scary storylines, and they try so hard to be inclusive without actually succeeding at it (making all the fairies even paler than what they were in the beginning of the show).
I'm sure everything I've said here has been said before a trillion times, but I wanted to get it off my chest. I won't blame anyone if they decide that they ain't reading allat bc i really ran with this. If u did read this though, thanks! And sorry if i spelled things wrong, I'm writing this on a Swedish computer that insists that every single word is spelled incorrectly, lol.

Musa: The Thesis
Kay so… this one involves one of the biggest spoilers of s3 due to one of the biggest changes I made there revolves around Musa and I will be discussing it after the First Things First part. So please please please if you haven’t read up until Season 3 Chapter 24: The Space Between Where Our Ends Meet, DO NOT READ PAST THE FIRST THINGS FIRST PORTION OF THIS THESIS
I’M SERIOUS PLS DON’T
First Things First
The first words I have in Musa’s character sheet are small sassy goth.
One of the main things I focused on with Musa, especially in the first season is her struggle to be vulnerable. Musa has lived the past 5 or so years with a closed off dad and never got a real chance to truly mourn her mom due to her having to learn to pretty much take care of herself, because of this she becomes very defensive and doesn't trust many people, and it causes her to struggle with being vulnerable, making her feel weak to do so. Here we see her open up slowly to the girls and not really talk that much about her home life until s2.
This is also where the main problem in her relationship with Riven comes in, but we’ll talk about that later on.
Musa, along with Aisha was the loneliest Winx before going to Alfea, and this plays into how protective she can be over the girls, she knows what it’s like to have no one so she is more than ready to throw hands for her girls any day of the week.
Love’s a Loaded Gun, Nobody Wants to Fight
A theme we see with Musa is her not believing she’s really worth a lot of time. She worried about staying one place too long and becoming an inconvenience or sharing her hurt and becoming a weight.
We see that it really takes a lot for her to believe that she is not being selfish or ‘too much’ by expressing herself or deciding to stay in one place, namely Tecna’s home.
Musa has a lot of feelings regarding feeling like she’s being shut out.
She’s working on not shutting people out herself but when others do it to her, she could just have a breakdown since she is so sick and tired of her dad doing it to her and that’s just about the worst thing you could do to her.
She’s a tiny bit afraid of love. Not so much of love itself as just, the thought of losing someone she loves again.
Haunted
So… this is the part with the huge S3 spoiler so PLEASE TURN BACK NOW, THIS WAS ONE OF THE MOST IMPACTFUL MOMENTS OF S3 MY INBOX WAS FLOODED FOR A WEEK IF YOU HAVEN’T READ IT YET TURN BACK NOW
So, in s3 chapter 24 Musa gains her Enchantix… and kills Stormy in the process.
First off the second I decided to do s3 I knew I was gonna change how Musa got her Enchantix cause I think we can all agree she got the short end of the stick in the OG.
I also already had in mind killing off either Stormy or Darcy but Stormy just fit more.
I combined these two ideas by changing Musa’s Enchantix to be gained by taking down a building over herself and Stormy due to Stormy loosing control of a curse.
Now, this could’ve gone very differently so why did I chose Musa to be the one to kill Stormy?
Honestly? I felt like it would impact her the most.
Now, obvs any of the girls would’ve been hugely impacted by taking a life (see Tecna) but taking the life of one of the Trix who they’ve known and fought for so long is another level of personal.
And, just like Bloom, Musa can be a very angry person and she hated the Trix’s guts and maybe a tiny part of her would’ve been glad with them dead, but actually having a hand in it…
It creates very conflicting emotions and a mountain of trauma and feelings of inhumanity and just confusion for our girl which we will get to see a lot more of in s4.
Thoughts Behind her Main Relationships
Tecna
I love Tecna and Musa, they are very much a friendship between unconventional girls who don’t always come across as they mean to.
They both struggle to make friends for different reasons but the second they meet they realize that they are quite similar and so never push each other outside of their comfort zone at first and that’s what allows them to become close enough to then push one another.
Musa gets what makes Tecna tick and makes sure that she’s comfortable, she makes sure she gets her alone time and makes sure she doesn’t get overwhelmed.
Tecna gets that Musa doesn’t want to talk about herself so instead gets her to open up about her music.
And it’s through this that they start to trust one another and by s2 we see them knowing each other well enough to keep the other from spiraling.
When Tecna’s confused about her feelings for Timmy, it’s Musa who reminds her that it’s okay to not be ready for a relationship. And when Musa and Riven first kiss, it’s Tecna who suggests they take it slow since she knows how skittish they can both be.
At this point, they push one another when they need to.
They are crucial to each other’s growth.
Riven
I always loved the idea of Rivusa but hated the original execution.
I really like the idea of two kids who have been so hurt by the people that were meant to protect them figuring out how to love each other. How to be open and trusting and just how to work as a couple.
Riven and Musa fall very slowly over the course of a year and a half, they get to know each other, be friends, quite crucially: they’re able to be vulnerable with each other. Which is huge for both of them.
And, when they realize that these feelings are serious and more than just a crush, they are both terrified.
I’ll talk a bit more about Riven’s feelings on his thesis but for Musa, she’s scared of this failing, of flying till the bone crush like the queen would say. She’s scared of it going wrong and losing someone she loves so much.
The part I love about this is that this means that even after they get together we get to see them fuck up. Because just because they’re together doesn’t mean they’re just going to forget years of trauma and having their walls up.
And, in my version, once they’re together, it’s Musa who fucks up by keeping secrets and not being able to bring herself to be vulnerable.
I think my fave part about writing these two is writing about how they grow together both as individuals and as a couple, how they learn to communicate and be vulnerable and realize that they are both here to stay and that this relationship is soft and safe and everything that they have been denied for so long.
That’s what this couple is to me. Two kids learning to love and not be afraid of it.
Helia
Helia and Musa are the writers of the group, due to them both being artist and having had past or present issues with their fathers and being vulnerable, it made sense for them to be platonic soulmates.
They’re the kind of people to spill their guts out of paper and just take a pen and truly speak, word vomit comes out in prose and metaphors and long words that just make you feel serene.
That’s how they find it easier to communicate.
They bond over words and music and the crushing weight of a knot in your throat not letting you speak when it matters most. The falling feeling of everything coming out wrong when spoken but in a beautiful way when written.
Helia is the only person Musa co-writes with for her songs, because he gets her voice as a songwriter in a way that no one else does.
And Helia shared his favorite poems because he knows she’ll get them in the way few could.
They are the artists who write not just because they enjoy and love it, but because it’s a crucial part of who they are, of how they process things and how to keep going.
If you wanna get to know these two, the best way to do it is to look at what they write.
And that’s why they just click.
Who is Musa in this Rewrite?
Musa is a girl who’s hurt. Who has lost and has had to almost raise herself.
She’s done the best that she could but the best she could do to protect herself at the time, back home with her father was to build walls around herself.
She’s someone who is learning to be open and vulnerable and to believe the people she loves won’t leave.
She’s someone trying to leave behind a toxic environment and mindset.
Someone who is, in one word haunted. By her past, by both her parents be it in different ways, by words, by Stormy.
But she’s learning to live with it, to still grow and to not take steps back in her journey.
She’s an artist finding her meaning and voice.

If you were the writer for Fate S3, what would you do with it? (I'm super intrigued)
You know Brian, you're not the first ask I get about this and I'll be real that I've tried sitting down and working on it many times, but I inevitably grow bored, because I already wrote various different fics covering the points I'd want addressed.
A couple things I'd for sure want would be the expansion of the world. I think we end s2 with most of the characters in a pretty bad place, but also with their own plot.
(Btw, a lot of the ideas here are a product of me and Mo spiraling, so credit where credit is due, this is as much hers as is mine @gossipqueen2000 )
So my ideal season 3 isn't in Alfea.
Secondly I wrote all of how I'd see Bloom in the Realm of Darkness in the HEX fic (A Merry Fucking Life), but that fic is heavy in the introspection, which I know wouldn't be that interesting to be watched, so I'd add more threats inside the Realm of Darkness and mysteries too. Not only Bloom's memory is slowly slipping between her fingers and she has to come to terms with the fact that Marion is not her friend and that she already has parents, but she also has to realize that she killed herself at the end of the season 2 and deal with the monsters that are out to get in the Realm of Darkness.
One idea I toyed with when writing AMFL was that the tower would be a safe haven in a hellscape. So the first time Bloom attempts to escape it, she's chased by this sand-shadow creatures, which are manifestations of hers and Marion's fears. The only safe place is the tower, but that in turn has Marion inside it, a glimpse into the future of what she's going to become if she doesn't leave fast: a relic locked in a tower, with no memories of her loved ones or herself.
Bloom aside, the second thing I'd be *dead set* on wanting in season 3 is Burned Ones. They were my favorite thing in s1 and I think it simply makes sense they'd be attracted back now that the Dragon Flame is gone. We can imply they were searching for her for years, thousands of years in the Otherworld, then baby Bloom was unlocked from stasis and taken to the First World, so they stopped attacking people, since they could sense she was no longer in this world. Then she comes back to the Otherworld in s1ep1 and they come back. Season 2 we don't see them as much because they are regrouping after Bloom demolished them in the finale of s1, also Rosalind's specialists are just fucking better.
Tumblr media
"But Jo, she's no longer in the Otheworld, so if they're attracted by Bloom, by this logic they shouldn't be in season 3!"
YES BUT- The Dragon Flame and the Shadow Guy are essentially the same thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The presence of the Shadow Guy who escapes at the finale of s2 is enough to bring forward the Burned Ones. To them, they're essentially the same thing. Same power.
Anyway and anyhow, now we have B.Os again, hurrah. Then, I'd have the characters divided. I'd put Sky, Saul, Dane, Kat, Riven and Musa in the same package [The Specialists] and have them deal with the Burned Ones.
Sky is a wreck, he's reckless and no one wants to be his partner. Riven is the only one putting up with him, but that's going to cost him too. Dane and Musa actually build a friendship. Musa refuses to use her powers, she's deadset she wants to be a specialist. This has to cost her too.
I've written it before, but I think Musa should get attacked by a B.O, an attack she could've prevented, if she had used her magic. Musa's refusal to grow and avoidance is one of the things about her character that bothers me the most, so if she won't learn via love... Then she'll learn via pain. You don't get to avoid a scar going across your face, sorry. I also just really like scars. + mini arc where she gets to go home and we see more of her father and her mom, or the space she left with her death.
(for the sake of makeup department the scar would eventually fade to a red line on the side of her face, but FIRST we need this big thing that is a testament of how much she's failing herself by avoiding half of her nature).
Riven needs a plot of his own and I guess is a little too late to tackle the gigantic glaring "Internalized homophobia" thing he's got going on. That was a season 2 issue that they did a fucking shitty job on. Time to tackle his self esteem and what future he sees for himself. If Sky already decided he'll die by the end of the season, Riven is the one who realized he'll have to live and now, for the first time, is being forced to make all this mature decisions and pick a future he's not even sure he's ready for. + the weight his own family is putting on him. Let's finally give a face to those gigantic daddy issues we all have sensed since s1.
Talking about gigantic daddy issues... Saul would be headmaster, but he's way in over his head. Not only he had trauma to get past from jail, but he's got a suicidal angry son in his hands, B.Os on the loose that he needs to send his own students to hunt and he has to deal with the loneliness he finds himself on. All of his relationships have been severed, be it by choice (Ben, Sebastian), be it by death (Farah, even Andreas). This man is incredibly tired and alone... Then we give him the new headmistress for the fairies, after ep 2 or 3. Saul cannot lead the fairies, it's obvious the Queen would appoint someone to the position, but he's not ready to allow this stranger into his school, near the kids he's meant to protect, especially not after going through Rosalind all over again. Saul vs Griselda showdown.
That's the "Alfea" people, but they're hardly at Alfea most of the time. They're in the surrounding area, Blackbridge and region to hunt the B.Os.
Meanwhile, Terra and Flora pack their bags to go get Sam and Ben back from Malacoy Academy. Malacoy has been their "enemy" school since always, but there's a difference between petty rivalry and whatever is happening there now.
Beatrix crawled out of her grave once the Shadow Guy loomed over it ominously at the finale and she went in search of her two sisters, Darcy and Isobel, only to find that they were in Malacoy. Naturally, she enrolls and tries, once again, to pull the same thing she did in season 1. Except this Beatrix is not the same from before, now she opened up to Stella, now she had the taste of doing something because she believed it was good... She craves having these two sisters, but she cannot turn a blind eye on how horrifyingly weird they are.
Because turns out that while little Bea was rescued from the Aster Dell bloodwitches (who were extremists) and raised like a fairy, she's not an actual fairy. She, just like her sisters, are the product of what Rosalind says in season 1: Sacrificing fairies to put their powers inside of Blood Witches (#fuck the season 2 B.W lore).
Beatrix was raised believing she's a fairy, but she only has the air powers. Unlike other fairies, her powers can be great but they'll not ever turn into the other elements. This she realizes in Malacoy Academy.
Meanwhile Isobel and Darcy had escaped the blast by fate and they were raised by the B.W who escaped. The extremist ones. They do believe in the ancient practices of sacrificing fairies for their powers and they've done this. Their next victim is Sam Harvey and Beatrix doesn't even like the guy, but she knows him and now she has this horrible thing called a moral compass and ugh... Fine, fuck, she'll save his life- And now Terra's and Flora's too, she guesses? Why can't these people just stay in their own castle.
Talking of the extremist Blood Witches, well... They didn't just get nuked in Aster Dell. A good number of them escaped, enough of them to indoctrinate even more Blood Witches in the future. They were living in the shadows, but Luna's declaration of war in season 2 pushes them forward. They need to take on the fairies, they need to do this in an organized manner. This means they need a leader.
They turn to Sebastian's people- Except Sebastian is no longer there. Grey is. Grey who has a moral compass and people he likes (even loves maybe?) in the fairy side, but suddenly has an entire group of people asking him to lead them. He doesn't budge easily, he's been in contact with Aisha, they're hopeful that they can get the Andros people and other mini realms to see what Luna is failing to see: the blood witches need protection from Burned Ones just as much as the fairies, not all of them are evil.
This can be done in a civilized manner.
This is why Aisha leaves Alfea alongside Stella. Stella needs to be introduced to her court, her training needs to be harder, Luna wants her there. Meanwhile Aisha believes, just like Grey, that they can build a case and being in court, talking to politically relevant people is instrumental for this.
What Aisha doesn't realize is that by going to the Solaria castle she's not just building a political network against the queen and this counts as a coup attempt, one that could put Stella's head on a platter, but also that she is, physically, in Luna's grounds. She's a hostage just as much as Stella is.
Suddenly Grey is out of moves, the things he thought he could do in a civilized manner are no longer feasible. There's a Shadow Guy going around bringing the dead back and attracting Burned Ones, there are Burned Ones attacking his people. He can't afford to let them die just because Aisha is scared for her parents or for Stella. He has to put his people's interests first.
Stella, in the other hand, knows that it was her letter that got Bloom in stasis. She was instrumental in the decline of Bloom's mental health at the last two episodes and this guilt is eating her up. Beatrix's death? Also on her. So many things are directly her fault and she needs to clean it up, she needs Bloom back- But Beatrix is back? How? The Shadow Guy.
Well what if... What if they could catch the Shadow Guy. It came through the same portal Bloom vanished, didn't it? It's the same magic.
Stella believes, furiously, that she can bring Bloom back if she catches the Shadow Guy. Beatrix's resurrection aids this belief.
Sky is angry at the whole lot of them for not making an effort on bringing Bloom back, he's angry at himself for not going with her, he's angry at Silva and Riven for wanting him to live the future that is knocking at his door - He'll do whatever Stella asks. Including lying to Riven and the others about the "burned ones" they're tracking, which is not a Burned One at all.
If only Musa wasn't wearing the cuffs and in denial about her magic, then she could sense Sky is lying to them and weaponizing Silva's and Riven's sympathies.
Beatrix wants to save the Harveys from her own sisters and this is how she gets roped into the Blood Witches fight, this is how she gets to know about the stealing magic ritual, the bidding ritual for the Shadow Guy, she has people of her own that she wants back from the dead... This is how she ends up in Grey's power, her life in his hands.
Griselda, for all that Saul hates her and wants to undermine her, used to work in Malacoy Academy. She knows the students suddenly being amazing at magic tests and tournaments isn't normal, she just needs to find out what is going on. If only Silva would let her get closer to the students, stop shielding them from her prodding, then she could get the full picture of what is happening at Malacoy, with the blood witches right under their nose.
And then they could trace it back to Grey and Aisha and Stella and the fact that Stella isn't seeing that in her insanity to save Bloom, she's falling into the same trap that Sebastian fell in. The same power from darkness that is whispering in her ear that if she sacrifices enough people, they'll be able to bring back her loved ones (in this case just one), she just has to open that portal back again for Bloom.
Surely nothing worse is coming out of it.

Hi! I love your blog! <3 Do you have any headcannons about rivusa as parents? Especially Riven? Idk why I always picture Riven as a girl dad to a little mind fairy! I’d love to hear your thoughts! :)
first of all, thank you very much, love!!! second, OMG you just opened a dangerous door because if there’s one thing that i have is for sure rivusa headcanons about everything. so lets go, headcanons for rivusa as parents:
- in my headcanon neither of them believed they would be good parents, so at first neither musa or riven would want to have kids therefore would be super careful for it not happen
- but you know… accidents happen so their first pregnancy would definitely be unplanned. musa would find out first and freak the absolute out about it, first for not believing she would be a good mom and second for being scared to tell riven, thinking he would hate it
- she decides to tell him anyway after not more than a few hours because she couldn’t bare to think about it on her own. she waits for him to get home, tell while freaking out and embraces herself for the caos of emotions she would feel from him (cause even though she can control her powers now, she’d be too nervous to focus on doing it) but for her surprise she felt nothing but calm. for the first time in their life together riven was calmer than ever. she’d say “fuck, riv im freaking out, why are you so calm? is freaking me even more…” and classic riven would chuckled an amused laugh because god she was cute.
“come here…” he would hug her and say “im calm because it’s us and we will figure it out together, muse, we always do…” in his mind, he could only think of how much he loves her and that maybe it would be nice to have a mini musa love too
- overprotective riven would be at it’s finest during pregnancy which musa thought it was cutest thing ever… for about month and then it started to drive her insane because he wouldn’t let her lift a pen. “riv, this is ridiculous, opening a can of beans won’t be the end of me” she says, he gets the thing out of her hands and say dead serious: “opening cans are dangerous, love. you are creating a whole person right now, go look pretty while sitting there and let me”
- riven would talk to their baby every night, no lullaby or cute stories ofc. he’d tell about their missions together, would explain all about mommy’s powers and about every single type of sword that exists because “kid, you have badass parents so you gotta get used to it”
- towards the end musa would prank him all the time “RIVEN MY WATER JUST BROKE” and he would fall for it and freak out every time, running around to get their bags
- they wait until birth to know the gender but they were certain that it was going to be a boy… well, they were wrong. little sadie was born just as the sun was raising in the sky, healthy and perfect with a full head of dark hair and rosy cheeks just like her mom and beautiful green eyes like her dad.
- at first it was hard ‘cause sadie was the most stubborn baby ever but could you blame her? she’s her parents daughter after all… but eventually, after many sleepless nights and never ending days, they get the rang of things
- riven was such a girl’s dad, he would let her do absolutely everything to him from branding his hair, to painting his nails or reading his mind. “daddy, whats a wanker?” she would ask while he drives her to daycare after a car cuts them in traffic. “oh god, get out of my head kid.” he would answer fondly as always, looking through the review mirror to catch the green that matches his turn into purple. he absolutely loved that part, to see a piece of him turn into musa was simply magical.
- and sadie was a such a specialist’s daughter. she was fierce and fearless just like her dad, loving superhero movies and choosing every type of combat’s classes over ballet (and riven did mock musa so much for thing). she was for sure the bravest kid at any playground…
- but she was also a mindy fairy which could be confusing for a little kid. sadie cried the whole way home after the first time she felt that the other girls at school didn’t like her. neither riven nor the promise of icecream was able to make her feel better, only her mom’s hug.
“mommy, make it go away.” she pleaded in her mother’s arms. her green eyes drowning in tears while musa hugged her strongly, stroking the girl’s long black hair “it’s alright, baby, mommy is here, daddy is here… we are gonna figure it out together.”
- not taking away her daughter’s pain hurt musa more than anything in her entire life but she didn’t anyway, instead she promised herself to be a better parent than her parents ever were and she helped sadie to understand/control her powers
- they talked for years about another kid, mostly riven who was constantly in a state of baby-fever and he finally convinced musa when sadie was four but it took them two years to get pregnant again… but don’t get it wrong they were happily trying for those two years 😏
- and this time both of them were calmer from the start because they knew that no matter what happened… they’d figure it out together, as always.
come chat with me about rivusa

Thank you for your words. I think I still things to deal with relating that situation, but I try to be more open about it. Today after reading you I thought about telling my mom but due to her health I don't think it might be the right time now, so maybe one day.
"Oh, the dawn won't stop weighting a ton, I've done some things that I shouldn't have done, but I haven't stopped loving you once" that song should be 5 years old, but since the first time I heard it I knew it was about you. There's so many songs that remind me of you. Places, people, caresses. Thank you for opening up about your feelings, I do appreciate that. Thank you for your honesty and your tears of compassion.
I didn't went to school today either. I wake up at the right time but as soon as I see the sunshine through my window I just lay there, and all I do is think and don't act. I don't know what's wrong with me. But not everything was bad. I got to go to the flea market with mom today again, she bought me this cool dragon shirt and I also found something that reminds me of you. I'll give it to you when we meet, so make sure to bring something where you'll can put it inside of. It's not that big, but it isn't pocket size either. I think you'll like it once you get home and read it, it gives so much "you" vibes.
I've heard Natalia before, I like her album "musas", have you heard it? There's this song that I hold very, very close to me, "tú me acostumbraste". And it's about you. There's so many songs that remind me of you. I'll try to add them all on the playlist I shared with you. Now, be aware that most of them you'll see them and think "wait, you actually like this artist???" I can almost see your face, but yeah. I feel that some songs will have a similar connection, being that the one you explained was because of your mother listening to it, and most of the ones that I'll be adding, if not all of them, is because of my mom too. This songs are so close to my heart, the ones I thought that I would never attach to someone, but I've been lying to myself this whole time and that's because whenever I hear them, you come to mind.
I want to talk about one piece, because as you can see, I've been watching it and I love it to day, but there'll be spoilers about it so, if you plan to watch one piece one day, then let me know and I'll save my writings for another day. But is mostly about things that I've learn thanks to them so, yeah. Oh, and also if you're planning to watch OP, I think you can try and wait for the new anime: The One Piece which I think will be like a shorter version of it??? Not sure, but yeah.

You both misunderstand me
I call Bloom's outfit horrible because it's ugly
I call Musa's outfit horrible because it's completely out of character
These are two very different sins, and one matters way more to me
Bloom's outfit hurts my eyes, but it at least looks like a progression from her season 3 look. A bad and ugly progression, but I can tolerate this
Musa's s4 outfit ripped what was left of Musa's gender nonconformity and tomboy style out of her hands and then kicked her real personality into a ditch as she was replaced with Bloom lite after raiding Stella's middle school closet
If Musa dresses like in s1-3 It would have been revealed 2 seconds afterward that she was forced into the outfit, but these are her normal clothes in s4
I'm not even saying the outfit isn't cute, on any other character that would literally be my favorite outfit it looks so cute to me, it's just not something that s1-3 Musa would ever wear
Musa's fashion was always super casual compare to her friends! Her outfit for the formal dance in season 1 was a modified kimono with pants!! Might I even mention that her pant legs were so long that they could have hidden sneakers under them? Because she was definitely wearing sneakers under that outfit. Her back-to-school outfit has jeans when everyone else was dressed up. When she went to the dance with Aisha, she where's an outfit that requires tights or leggings under it. Her concert outfit was a jersey, cargo vest, baggy jeans, and a beanie!!!
For fun, let's take a look at all the times she doesn't wear anything on her legs in s1-3. S1, dance casual, her skirt looks like it was made to exercise and run in. Flirting with Riven. S2, cute red Cheongsam with fucking knee-high boots. It was the first big party since they started dating, she wore that outfit to get Riven's attention. S3, Eraklyon Formals. She is in high society for the first time in her life, I don't think she could get away with pants here. The only reason other outfit without pants is something that Stella got her designers to make with no input from the girls themselves, so why even mention it.
THEN YOU GET TO S4 AND SUDDENLY MUSA IS WEARING: A MAGENTA POKA DOT BLOUSE, A PLEATED SKIRT WITH NO LEGGINGS OR TIGHTS UNDER IT, AND FUCKING POKA DOT PINK HEELS?!
Is this a joke?? Is someone laughing at me??? Am I going insane over a cartoon for children?? Yes to all of the above.
FIVE of Musa's s4 outfits are heels, four of which are pump heels. Do you know how many times Musa wears straight-up heels in s1-3? Twice. Neither we're pumps, and both she wore for partying.
If demonia boot's we're popular when Winx was coming out in s1-3 Musa would of worn them. S4 Musa would literally never wear platforms. She dresses like a completely different character!!
Musa's original style was somewhere between e-girl and grunge, at most Musa's s4 style can be described as alt prep. And it's more prep than alt most of the time!!!! Musa was the alternative girl of the Winx!! And they made her dress like everyone but her!! Electric chair!!!
Musa's season 4 outfit is an abomination on God and I want a handwritten formal apology from whoever decided to steal what was left of my girl's personality and turn her into THIS.

It’s not easy hiding a relationship from the girls. Especially not when you’re dating the head of the army but you manage to do so for almost 8 months before they discover the truth. It happens one morning when Terra is about to go to the green house. You’d never imagine someone being up at 6am on a Saturday so you don’t do your normal check before leaving Saul’s quarters. Unfortunately, the way to the green house leads straight past there so you practically walk right into Terra.
“Was that-” You hush her checking to see if anyone else has decided to take a morning stroll. She looks like she’s about to burst from excitement but stays quiet until you’re satisfied that she’s the only one here.
“Did you just leave Mr. Silva’s room?” she whisper-yells and you’re hoping that Saul won’t come out. The last thing you need is him panicking over the fact that someone knows.
“It’s a secret. You can’t tell anyone. It would be really bad if the wrong people found out,” you warn her hoping she understands that this isn’t one of those things she can just blabber to everyone.
“How long?” she asks. Going against your gut feeling, you tell her a brief summary of how you and Saul found yourselves falling in love.
“Remember when I got promoted to be his assistant? It meant a lot of late nights and difficult discussions. We didn’t plan for this. It just happened along the way. But if Farah found out, I might get kicked out of Alfea. And Saul would definitely be banned from here.” You can’t believe that you managed to keep this a secret for so long and just days before graduation someone finds out.
“I won’t tell. Promise.” She pretends to lock her lips and throws the key away. This definitely won’t a secret tomorrow. You spend the day worrying about Terra and you don’t relax until she’s back in the suite with the other Winx girls. When she sees you, she gives you a not-so-secretive wink making you facepalm yourself.
“Did you guys want to get some dinner?” you ask looking around at the girls. You’d been their mentor when they first arrived to the school but the friendship stayed even after they’d settled in to Alfea.
“Aren’t you having dinner with Sa-”
“Terra!” you yell and she immediately covers her mouth.
“I’m so sorry, it slipped out.” But the damage is done.
“Who is she talking about?” Stella smirks starting to list names of the boys in your year. The only who stays quiet is Musa. When you lock eyes with her, you realise why.
“Don’t,” you mouth to her hoping she’ll understand and she gives you the slightest nod. She must’ve felt your anxiety at Terra almost saying his name and put two and two together. You have no doubt that she knows Terra was about to say Saul.
“There’s also Sander,” Stella says still listing the names of boys not realising she’s looking for the name of a man. Specifically, a man older than any of the students.
“It’s Saul!” you exclaim bending under pressure. You’ve wanted to tell them for so long and now that two of the girls already know, you may as well you say it. You want to be able to talk about him to someone that isn’t him.
“Have you been sneaking around with Mr. Silva?” Bloom asks making you sigh.
“Please just call him Saul,” you say but they all refuse.
“We’re not the ones sharing a bed with him. I’ll stick to Mr. Silva,” Aisha laughs and the rest of the girls nod in agreement.
“I can’t believe that you’ve robbed me of helping you with your outfits for dates, creating little meet cutes between the two of you. We could’ve helped come up with ideas for dates,” Stella pouts adding, “I’m not mad. Just disappointed.” Over the next couple of days, Stella makes it her mission to make up for lost time. She plans all of your outfits, arranged cute little moments for you and Saul all while making sure no one interrupts you. It baffles you just how good she is at this. Saul takes the news of the girls finding out surprisingly well.
“Now that we’re so close to graduation, I don’t see how it’ll make much a difference.” You’re happy he’s okay with them knowing because that makes it so much easier for you to suggest telling your parents.
“You want to what?” he asks almost choking in his food.
“I want to tell my parents. You said it yourself, it doesn’t make that much of a difference now.” You’ve always been close with your parents and it’s been killing you to have to hide this from them. He can’t argue against his own logic so the day after graduation you find yourself on the road preparing to introduce your parents to Saul.
“Are you sure it’s a good idea? Maybe we should wait.” You’ve never seen Saul nervous before and you quickly decide it’s the cutest thing you’ve ever seen.
“They will love you. Almost as much as I do,” you smile hoping you’re telling the truth, “but maybe you should wait outside and let me test the waters first.” He agrees clutching your hand in his. Seeing your parents fill you with happiness even with the knowledge of what you have to tell them.
“We are so proud of you!” your mother exclaims congratulating you on finally graduating. They’re both hold very important positions in your realm meaning they couldn’t get time off to travel all the way to Alfea but they demand to get all the details now that you’re here.
“Well, I do actually have something to tell you.” To buy yourself some time, you grab one of the cookies that your mother has put out on the table and take a few bites. They have enough common sense to let you work up the courage on your own rather than push you.
“I’m seeing someone,” you start and are quickly interrupted by your mother’s cheers.
“We have to meet them! Do you have a picture of them? Or maybe they came with you?” She’s so caught up in the fact that you’re dating someone, she doesn’t wait to hear who it is.
“Mom, I’m happy that you’re happy but you may want to wait until I tell you who it is.” You take a deep breath to calm yourself.
“I’m dating Saul Silva.”
“Saul Silva?” Your mother sits down looking a little pale.
“Wait, Saul Silva? As in Head of the Army Saul Silva? The man who’s killed 13 Burned Ones?” It’s the first time your father chimes in and you can see the confusion on his face. Of course, they both know who Saul is but they definitely didn’t expect you to be dating him.
“The Saul Silva who’s not only Headmaster for the specialists but also the fencing instructor on Alfea?”
“That’s the one,” you say trying to figure out if now is the time to bring him in. He’s probably trying to eavesdrop by the door.
“I can bring him in if you’d like,” you offer to which your mother springs up from her chair and grabbing the fancy platters.
“Why didn’t you tell us you were dating such fine company. The table is all wrong.” That’s your mother in a nutshell. She runs around using her magic to redecorate and move around furniture. Your father remains seated apparently in shock so you figure now is as good a time as any.
“Saul,” you call after opening the door. Immediately, he’s by your side his eyes asking if everyone is okay.
“I think you may be their favourite,” you laugh taking his hand to lead him inside.
“What an honour to have you,” your mother says shaking his hand. Your dad gets up to do the same but he doesn’t let go of Saul’s hand. There’s a little bit of a challenge in your father’s eyes and Saul accepts it. The testosterone is heavy in the air as they try to crack each other’s hands.
“That’s enough,” your mother says signalling for all of you to sit down by the table. They spend the next three hours questioning Saul and his intentions for you. At no point do they mention his age - the one thing you were worried they’d be upset about. It seems that all they really want is for you to be happy.
“Don’t be a stranger now,” your mother says standing in the doorway as you’re about to head home. You wave goodbye one last time before getting in the car.
“That went well,” Saul says acting as if he wasn’t worried to begin with. You roll your eyes but smile nonetheless.
“Just take me home,” you say with closed eyes. Your hand comes to rest on his thigh, a habit you’ve created after driving with him many times.
“Yes, ma’am.”

Flora & Helia Headcanons
Tumblr media
Im just gonna go ahead and do all of them cuz I need more winx content
1. Flora is definitely an early bird. She is up at 5 in the morning, watering her plants and doing yoga. Bloom can sleep through a hurricane and Flora is also pretty stealthy so she doesn't really notice. Helia gets up in the middle of night to write down random ideas that pops into his head. He usually gets obsessive once he begins a painting and he won't stop until its perfect, which means sleep is not a priority. Since Riven likes to train late, these two are always the last to go to sleep out of all the specialists.
2. Flora is the little spoon when they are going to sleep but at night Helia tends to move away to avoid all their hair getting tangled up (Stan couples with great hair). But our girl doesn't let him get away that easy and usually ends up throwing her leg over him and spooning him instead.
3. Flora hogs the covers cuz small people get cold easily and Helia lets her. The cold doesn't bother him anyway. They both love to cuddle but it quickly gets complicated with all that hair but that usually leads them to braiding each other's hair.
4. Helia is the one who does all this mushy stuff most of the time. There are times when Helia wakes her up with kisses just to inform her that he is now only going to sleep at 5 in the morning.
5. Both of them have nightmares cuz saving the universe takes it toll on your mental health. If they end up waking each other up because of the nightmares, they talk about it over a cup of tea. Flora used to get sleep terrors as a kid due to her anxiety so she makes sure to take her special brew to calm herself before she goes to bed and has passed on the habit to Helia. They are a very tea centred couple.
6. Riven or Flora usually wake up at night to find him scribbling away on his notebook with the lamplight on and at this point they are pretty used to it. Flora's the mom friend who gives great advice and often finds herself surprised by her own deep insights (in the middle of the day)
7. Flora has issues with anxiety and while she is mostly successful at hiding it from the others, Helia pays too much attention to her to not notice when she zones out or picks her nails. However, she hates it when people notice and try to help but she loves how Helia knows exactly when to give her space.
8. Helia sleeps shirtless and sometimes in his jogger pants that is always covered in paint. Flora gets cold easily at night but wears thin nightdresses to bed much to Helia's confusion. She just likes being all covered up in blankets,
9. Flora is the specialist when it comes to all kinds of tea and while Helia is good at many things, cooking is not one of them. So Flora just makes little homemade tea bags for him so that it is easier.
10. Flora has a sweet tooth but they both love sour candies. They are supposed to the healthy couple so no one knows when they sneakily share candy with each other.
11. Both of them are hopeless romantics (as we all know) but prefer romantic books than movies. However, Flora is the kind of psychopath who can watch gore without flinching one bit. It scares Helia but Flora is just pretty used to blood since both her parents are in the healing profession. She loves Horror because she knows its fake but it makes Helia uncomfortable even if he doesn't admit it. They usually only watch horror movies with the whole gang while Flora nonchalantly calls out the director for his inacurrate portrayal of stabbings. It makes Helia wonder sometimes.
12. Flora is smol & Helia is tol. Once, Flora had to literally climb onto a chair during an argument with Helia but that just made him laugh and made her even angrier.
13. Flora scares easily meaning that she freaks out when Stella or Musa suddenly pop out of corners and scream at her. But she fights monsters for a living at this point and has learned to control her reactions. Helia's face is unreadable so no one can usually tell what he is feeling. But he has a deadly fear of clowns that Riven found out about and makes it a point to give Helia a small heart attack at least once a year.
14. Flora would pet a shark and Helia wrangles werewolves and dragons on a daily basis so they aren't afraid of animals, even the small ones. Both of them usually ignore the spider unless its big, then they would just safely let it outside or Flora would sometimes collect them for her potions.
15. Helia pretty much lives in the dark with only a lamplight for when he is writing. Flora did develop a fear of the dark after villains kept using spells on her that put her in darkness. So there is always a nightlight beside her when she sleeps.
16. Flora doesn't flinch when people get stabbed in movies but flinches at really loud noises. They both love the rain and kissing in the rain but once they hear thunder Flora drags Helia inside.
17. Both of them love to work at home. The house they are gonna live in is going to be huge and have all kinds of weird rooms (hehe), I mean well mostly there will be an art studio, a greenhouse and a potions lab. and another room. that is up for your imagination. if you don't get this then you are probably too young or innocent.
18. They like both dogs and cats and are definitely planning on getting a few pets together.
19. They call each other babe/baby like normal couples ( I cringe every time Helia calls Flora 'flower' in fanfics ). Helia likes to call her princess sometimes and Flora calls him papi in her mother tongue (spanish). It took Helia a while to grasp its full meaning and he loves it when she calls him that.
20. It mostly starts out with Helia as the Dom but Flora usually goes from soft sub to a brat pretty quickly.

What episode do you think is the darkest episode in Winx club?
I really want to say Date With Disaster (coincidentally also one of my favourite episodes.) The idea of someone kidnapping and impersonating one of your close friends is terrifying and seeing the sacrifice Bloom ends up having to make is surprisingly mature for a show that’s centered around fairies. Also your friend coming from a date, seemingly furious and distressed can have multiple causes and the first time I saw it, I assumed Brandon had done something terrible to Stella. I’m also a sucker for the not quite perfect impersonation trope.
I know it isn’t Death and Consequence and End of the WorldTM but it’s a legitimate and very real fear, especially for a lot of young women (sans the impersonation) and one I can see happening to myself or to my friends and that’s why it hits a little closer to home.
Honourable Mentions:
• Tecna’s death, especially after she just got her Enchantix. We knew she’d get better but seeing everyone’s reactions, especially Musa’s, always gets me. The fact that the Winx considered splitting up after it is also distressing.
• Galatea losing her wings. We don’t quite yet know the full implications of that but it is implied to be horrible and that always gets me.
• Musa giving up her mom for the water stars. The whole episode is when the Winx (or at least the three that went through that) really became heroes to me.
• Bloom returning to Domino in s1 and being faced with the ruins of the palace. Always gave me chills as a kid. It really made me feel how dire her situation was and all the expectations placed on her and I love it still, even if it no longer affects me the same way.
• Dark Bloom
• S4 was a mess but the idea of the wizards hunting every single earth fairy down is pretty horrifying

Since it's Bloom's birthday today.. how would she celebrate it, if Alfea was a normal school?
Answering late because I was saving it for Meta Monday, sorry! I love this question so much!! <33
You said “normal school”, so I’m guessing we’re in a normal AU where no powers exist. If that so, then Bloom never hurt her mom and set fire to the house, but the growing conflict between them is still present. More so now, if anything, because in the show the guilt made Bloom more lenient to her mom’s strong personality, which caused them to “bond” a little after the trauma. Silver linings in horrible situations.
So Bloom would still be clashing horribly with her mom. Vanessa would beg her to go out, party, be normal. Bloom’s plans would include staying at the garage helping Mike fix a birdhouse, going over the 100 songs of her Spotify wrapped and maybe watching her favorite Harry Potters while stuffing her face with cherry ice cream. She thinks that sounds like a solid plan, her mom disagrees, Vanessa pesters and pesters and then it escalates to “you’ll go out or I’ll just stop paying the house wifi” and FINE, Bloom will go out.
She figures she can go to the last-standing-DVD store in Gardenia, a relic really, but Bloom also happens to be one of the last people who has a DVD AND a VHS player. She’s trifty like that :))
“Have fun with your friends. It can’t be that hard, just a couple hours, GOD” Vanessa exclaims when Bloom accidentally outs the fact her plans are still as introverted as possible.
She calls Aisha then, because Aisha is one of the very few people she doesn’t hate from her school. Aisha sounds hesitant, “I kinda... I already had plans with Ter and Musa... You can come, though, it’ll be fun! Please, B?”
Fine.
“Plans” turn out to be bowling. Aisha is competitive, there’s no surprise, but so is Terra and that is a surprise. Musa is more as moral support, she sucks at bowling, and because the place they go to has a mean cheeseburger. She shares a conspiratory smile with Bloom over the food, “I give it an hour before Terra causes us to be kicked out, again.”
Bloom snorts, then promptly chokes on her milkshake as her eyes drift past Musa’s head. At the entrance of the bowling place there are the popular pricks from school. Stella, head cheerleader, Riven vice-captain of the fencing team, Sky, the actual captain, and Sky’s sister, head of the debates club, Beatrix.
“Oh, nevermind, I give it fifteen minutes” Musa scoffs, following Bloom’s gaze, pausing on each of their faces, “what are they doing here?”
Beatrix catches her looking, opens a sardonic smile, whispers something to Stella and they both chuckle. Those typical, movie-esque mean girl smiles that don’t reach their eyes.
Bloom sighs, “let’s just wrap it all up and go back home.”
“No way, we have to play and we have to win,” now Musa is the one who’s up in arms. She ushers Bloom up, practically drags her to the alley, standing right next to the one the rich pricks picked.
Aisha has caught sight of Stella and she’s frowning, face a clear tell of everything Bloom’s feeling.
“What?” Beatrix snaps, upon catching them observing. She’s picking her favorite ball, already wearing the shoes, “do you need something?”
“Just happy to have you back, last we heard they locked you up in a psych ward in Sweden?” Terra answers just as quickly and Beatrix’ smile drops, she squints at them.
“I’m happy the rumors about me kept your ordinary miserable little lives entert-”
“Beatrix, enough,” Sky cuts her off, glaring at the girl and passing a black, large bowling ball to Riven, “leave them alone. Let’s play?”
Somehow his cold detachment, polite niceness is even worse than Beatrix’s open hostility. Beatrix at least sounds like a high school bully, Sky sounds like he doesn’t belong with them, or wants anything to do with them.
Bloom stares at him, feels her blood boil and decides to hate him on principle. Condescending little fucker.
She catches Riven’s gaze, the amused glint in his eyes and he leans in, whispers something to Stella and the blonde girl too stares Bloom up and down, like she’s some kind of insect stuck the sole of her shoe.
“Pass me the ball,” Bloom scoffs, then doesn’t wait for an answer and takes it from Aisha’s fingers.
She’s here to win.

1. Kamaboko is a type of fish cake and Odawara is well known for its high quality Kamaboko
2. Zouni is a type of soup that contains rice cakes and is usually eaten on New Year’s Day
Previous | Next
That night, Kiyose was planning to explain the Hakone Ekiden entries as well as hold a drinking party. After training and jogging, the residents gathered one after another in the twins’ room.
Kiyose had gone off somewhere after training. Nico-chan and Jouta were in charge of cooking; they were probably making something to serve as an accompaniment to the drinks. Thinking he should help, Kakeru was just about to leave the twins’ room and go down to the kitchen when his phone rang. It was his home phone number in Sendai.
His parents hadn’t contacted him once since he had moved to Tokyo. He had sent them a postcard with Chikusei-sou’s address, but that was it; just transferring the money for school fees and minimal living expenses into his bank account was enough for him. His parents had wanted him to go to university on a track recommendation because they had had high hopes for their son as a well-mannered track athlete.
When he pressed the button to answer the call, he heard the nostalgic voice of his mother say, “Kakeru?”
“Mm.”
“You were written up in a magazine, weren’t you? We told you so many times not to do anything that would make you stand out. Your father is very angry with you. Are you listening?”
“Mm, sorry.”
“Please put yourself in our shoes, living here. Okay?”
“Yes.”
“What are you doing for the New Year’s holiday? Are you coming back?”
“No, I’m going to be in Hakone, so I don’t think I have time to come home.”
“Ah, yes,” his mother’s voice took on a distinct note of relief. “Okay, then. Take care.”
Clutching his now-silent phone, Kakeru stood in the middle of the stairs for a while. In a daze, he belatedly noticed Yuki’s presence at the door.
“Oh, sorry,” Yuki said. “I didn’t intend to eavesdrop.”
Yuki was holding a bag from a record store in Shimokitazawa. No matter how busy he got, he never lacked music in his life. “No problem,” Kakeru answered, and walked down the stairs to stand in the hallway with him.
“Was that a call from home?”
“Yes. They got angry at me for standing out.”
“You’re the man of the hour, after all,” Yuki laughed. If it was Yuki, he might be able to tell him—Yuki was so far the only one not happy about being interviewed. He wanted someone to hear out his painful feelings, so Kakeru deliberately confided in him as though it was no big deal.
“I don’t get along well with my parents.”
Yuki was silent for a minute.
“I see. It’s the same for me,” he said. “In my case, I guess you can call it being overprotective. My mom remarried. The guy’s not a bad person, and I have a little sister who’s a lot younger than me, and she’s pretty cute, I guess, but… It bothers me when I’m told 'we’re your new family now' and get fussed over a lot. To be honest, I don’t want to get too close to them.”
“How old is your little sister?”
“Five.”
“Eh, so she’s more than fifteen years younger than you, Yuki-senpai?”
“Yeah. My mom’s doing her best,” Yuki pushed his glasses up as though to say, Good grief. “It’s a given that family members would bother you. You have to not expect too much from them and keep a reasonable distance.”
Yuki walked towards his room—it seemed that he had given his advice. “Okay,” Kakeru answered, and then went to peek in the kitchen, which had been noisy with the sound of running water and pots falling from a short time ago. Then, Yuki returned to the hallway.
“That’s right, Kakeru,” he said. He beckoned him to a corner of the hallway. “When I was coming back, I saw Haiji at Seijo Station.”
Is he doing some shopping? Although it was a station where express trains stopped, Kakeru and the others didn’t go to Seijou that often. If anything, they usually went to Soshigaya-Okura Station, which had a folksy and mixed atmosphere.
“He went into an orthopedics clinic in front of Seijo Station.”
Kakeru jerked in surprise. There was an old scar on Kiyose’s right shin; even after the qualifiers, he had looked like he was having a hard time. Kakeru had completely forgotten about it in the commotion of training and interviews.
“I don’t know much about the injuries of track athletes.” Yuki knitted his brows. “But maybe Kiyose’s isn’t completely healed.”
In any sport, the best athletes all had some sort of injury, and track and field was no exception. Hard training and risk had always gone hand in hand with each other—the more you trained, the sharper and more delicate your body became.
“If he’s seeing a doctor, they’ll stop him if he gets too reckless, so that actually makes me relieved, but…”
“Would Haiji listen to the doctor? Especially at this time.”
That’s true, Kakeru thought. The fact that he had gone to the doctor meant that he must be feeling some kind of discomfort, maybe even distinct pain. Even if he requested a prescription to suppress the pain, Kakeru had a feeling that Kiyose would not listen to the doctor’s advice.
“I understand. I’ll ask Haiji-san later,” Kakeru assured Yuki.
Kiyose returned to Chikusei-sou before they knew it. Kakeru carefully twitched his nose around Kiyose to see if he could smell a poultice, but he couldn’t find any evidence.
“You’re a strange guy.”
That was all Kiyose said to him.
“There’s been a lot going on lately,” Kiyose said, looking around at everyone gathered in the twins’ room. “Well, don’t worry about it. We’ll get our answers through our running.”
“Haiji-san, you’re so cool!”
“’What do you want with our Kurahara?’”
The twins, who had already been drinking, made fun of him. Ever since the incident with the Shinjitsu Weekly reporter, the twins seemed to have recovered their trust in Kiyose.
“The month of November is finally coming to an end. There’s no time left until the Hakone Ekiden,” Kiyose continued, ignoring the twins. “From now on, taking care of your physical condition will be the most important thing; be careful not to get injured at the last minute.”
At the word “injured,” Kakeru couldn’t help but exchange a glance with Yuki.
“Kakeru, explain the entries for Hakone,” Kiyose said, and Kakeru shook off his worries for now. The gazes of the residents, sitting in a circle, were focused on him.
“The first step is to submit the names of up to sixteen people per team to the organizer on December 10,” Kakeru began to explain. “At this stage, who will run which leg will not be revealed. Next, on December 29, it will be the leg entry, where the sixteen runners will be narrowed down to fourteen, and ten of those people will declare which leg they are running. The remaining four will be treated as alternates. Changes in leg entries are allowed on the day of the Hakone Ekiden. The final runners will be announced before the start times of the outward and return trips. However, once a runner is removed from a leg, they cannot be entered into another leg.”
“I don’t get it. What does that mean?” Jouji asked.
Kakeru thought about it a little, then simplified it. “Suppose Rokudou’s Fujioka was entered into the second leg on December 29. This means that Fujioka cannot be assigned the fifth leg in the final entry change on the day of Hakone. If Fujioka isn’t feeling well on the first day, they have no choice but to put one of the four alternates in the second leg, and even if Fujioka recovers on the second day, he wouldn’t be allowed to run.”
“I see.” Musa nodded. “Conversely, if Fujioka-san is one of the four alternates, can we assume that Rokudou will change its entry on the day of Hakone?”
“That’s exactly right,” Kiyose said. “If there’s a strong competitor in the alternate slot, then they are either not feeling well or they plan on changing the entry of an important leg on the morning of the race as a secret weapon. After seeing the entries for each leg on the 29th, each university will consider its strategy and, trying to read their opponent’s mind, unfold a new strategy.”
“We can’t lose focus even right before the start, can we?” King seemed to feel pressured. “But we only have ten people, so that’s got nothing to do with us. We don’t have strategies or anything.”
“It’s true that we will be showing all our cards on the 29th.”
Feeling uneasy, Kakeru looked at Kiyose; Kansei had no alternates, and once they made their entries, it wouldn’t be possible to switch legs. He wanted to know what Kiyose thought about that.
“We’re not the only ones with a small lineup,” Kiyose said calmly. “Changing your entry on the day of the race can be a good or bad thing. After all, sometimes it won’t go well when you’re suddenly asked to run. In fact, there are many schools that have a policy of not changing the leg entries unless there is a serious problem. Knowing that there’s strategy regarding the entries, it’s better to know early on which leg you’re running so that you can prepare.”
“Haiji, have you already decided which legs we’re going to run?” Yuki asked.
“Yeah,” Kiyose said and straightened his posture. “Of course, if you have any objections, we can discuss it, but I think this is the best we can do for now.”
Kiyose took out a memo from his track pants and laid it out in the center of the circle. Everyone leaned in to take a look and let out cries of surprise.
Hakone Outward Journey (Day 1)
First Leg Otemachi to Tsurumi   Prince
Second Leg   Tsurumi to Totsuka   Musa
Third Leg   Totsuka to Hiratsuka   Jouta
Fourth Leg   Hiratsuka to Odawara   Jouji
Fifth Leg   Odawara to Hakone   Shindou
Hakone Return Journey (Day 2)
Sixth Leg   Hakone to Odawara   Yuki
Seventh Leg   Odawara to Hiratsuka   Nico-chan
Eighth Leg   Hiratsuka to Totsuka   King
Ninth Leg   Totsuka to Tsurumi   Kakeru
Tenth Leg   Tsurumi to Otemachi   Kiyose
“Me in the second leg? I cannot do it.” Musa was trembling all over. “The second leg is the section for the aces, yes? Why is it not Kakeru then?”
“It’s pretty bold to put Prince-san in the first leg…” Jouji reservedly tilted his head.
Even Prince muttered, “What are you doing throwing the race from the start?”
Kakeru immediately understood what Kiyose was trying to do when he saw the lineup he had planned. Haiji-san is going to try to win the race in the second half. He’s seriously aiming for us to get seeded. No, if the race goes the way Haiji-san thinks it will, it won’t be about seeding—with these placements, we can aim for a much better ranking…!
They were such a weak club that they were in danger of not surviving next year. They were just a bunch of amateurs that had finally managed to crawl up this far, but Kiyose didn’t know the meaning of giving up; he was always looking upward, holding up dreams and goals, and firmly leading the residents of Chikusei-sou. Aiming for the heights of running. Aiming to reach the top of the Hakone Ekiden—the ultimate intermediary between individual and team competitions.
Seeing from the entry form how serious Kiyose was, Kakeru clenched his fists. If he hadn't, he would have gotten so excited that he would have ended up looking like an animal.
“Prince is the only one for the first leg,” Kiyose said gently. “Maybe it’s because you don't have any interest in the 3D world, but you’ve never been scared at the meets or qualifiers; you’re the most suitable person for the first leg, which has the most attention focused on it. You’re also tough enough to have kept up with the training until now even with your very slow times. I’m sure you’ll be able to hold your own in the race.”
He casually said something rude again, Kakeru thought, but Kiyose wasn’t lying about his expectations. Prince must have felt that as well, and a light came into his eyes.
“But in these past few years, the first leg has often been fast paced.” Yuki asked a question based on the data he had collected: “This time too, won’t each school choose a runner for the first leg based on speed?”
“There’s also a chance that it’ll develop at a slow pace in reaction to that. That’s a gamble,” Kiyose readily admitted. “But even if Prince gets separated from the others, he can still make up for it in the first leg. That’s why I chose a solid group of runners for the second to fourth legs, and there’s no one but Shindou who could do the fifth leg’s mountain climb, right? Musa and the twins should be able to steadily make it there.”
“It is too much for me to run in the ace’s leg.” Musa didn’t seem convinced.
“What do you think?” Kiyose turned to Kakeru. “Musa seems to want you to run the second leg.”
“No. I think Musa-san is the perfect fit for it,” Kakeru said with conviction. “Musa-san has been training while pushing aside all sorts of pressures. Even though he never did long-distance before, he can now run ten kilometers in the low 29-minute range. And Musa-san has always encouraged me.”
His effort and personality were second to none. Musa was an ace among aces.
“You are giving me too much credit, Kakeru,” Musa said, embarrassed. But it was unanimously decided that he would run the second leg.
There were no objections to the twins running the third and fourth legs, and they were very enthusiastic about it.
“The third leg is a road that runs along the sea. The scenery’s really nice,” said Jouta.
“Can we buy some kamaboko (1) in Odawara?” said Jouji.
The fifth leg was good with Shindou, but the problem was the sixth leg, which was Yuki’s mountain descent.
“Why am I doing the sixth leg?” Yuki asked Kiyose, looking for an explanation.
“On the trial run the other day, your posture was very stable. Normally, when people run down a steep slope like that, they’d be bent forward,” Kiyose glanced at Yuki’s legs, which were in a cross-legged position. “Also…you have thick legs.”
“What?”
“No, it was a compliment. Anyways, if your legs and loins aren’t solid, the sixth leg is out of the question.”
“It’s like sturdiness is my only good point. You say that, but what would you do if I get hurt?”
“It’s fine, isn’t it? You already passed the bar. You won’t have any opportunities to do serious track and field after graduation.”
“Oi oi, that’s irresponsible and cruel…” Nico-chan said, but Yuki was surprisingly calm and said, “You have a point,” accepting Kiyose’s words. If it made sense, he would swallow any cool-headed opinion. It was a method of persuasion that perfectly grasped Yuki’s character, and Kakeru was once again in awe of Kiyose’s ability to manipulate people.
“About Nico-chan-senpai in the seventh leg and King in the eighth leg,” Kiyose continued, “I think that when you get to this part of the route, the runners will start to break up, and there will be times when you’re running by yourself. You won’t be able to see the runners from the other teams in front or behind you. Even in situations like those, both of you will be able to run at your own pace without panicking or becoming careless. The battle to get seeded will intensify, so this is an unassuming but important section.”
“Are we planning on getting seeded?” Jouji nervously asked.
“Of course,” Kiyose decisively stated. “Now, for the last two legs, I entered Kakeru into the ninth leg, which is also called the ace leg of the return trip. As for the anchor, the tenth leg, I’ll be the one responsible for it, as I was the one who said we’re going to the Hakone Ekiden and got you guys involved.”
Kiyose only gave a brief explanation for himself and Kakeru. However, Kakeru thoroughly sensed Kiyose’s feelings for the Hakone Ekiden, and he also knew what kind of running they would have to show in the ninth and tenth legs.
Kakeru looked at Kiyose. Kiyose was silent, then nodded at him.
“That’s all. Are there any questions or thoughts?”
No one raised their hand. Pulled along by Kiyose’s conviction, everyone was finally thinking about the Hakone Ekiden as something concrete, and their fighting spirit was rising.
“Okay. Until the announcement of the entries for the legs on the 29th, what I told you is of course confidential. I want each of you to do your own image training and study the leg you’ll be running.”
Kiyose picked up his cup full of alcohol and said, Let’s drink. “With this team, it’ll definitely turn out well. Twins.”
Jouta and Jouji looked up when they were called.
“I’ll show you the top. No, we’re going to experience it together. Look forward to it.”
Kiyose smiled like a fearless king.
After the drinking party had reached its climax, Kakeru quietly approached Kiyose.
“Haiji-san, your legs aren’t doing well, are they?”
“Why do you ask?” Kiyose gently countered and poured himself another drink. Kakeru was at a loss for words—there was no way Kiyose was going to complain, however doubts swirled in Kakeru’s chest.
Haiji-san told Yuki-senpai, “You won’t have any opportunities to do serious track and field after graduation.” Isn’t he really talking about himself? Isn’t he going into this Hakone Ekiden with the resolve that he’s not going to be able to run anymore?
He was scared just thinking about it. Not being able to run was the same as dying for Kakeru. He believed it was the same for Kiyose. And yet, he…
“There’s nothing like what you’re worried about.” Kiyose smiled and spoke, “Come on, you drink too.”
Kakeru couldn’t say anything and drank the alcohol Kiyose served him in one go, full of anxiety. Kiyose was wearing that padded kimono jacket with the frayed cuffs. Soon, Kakeru would have spent all four seasons with the residents of Chikusei-sou.
Kakeru recalled the night he met Kiyose for the first time—the night when everything started.
A strange feeling like nostalgia and longing sprouted in his chest.
---
The residents of Chikusei-sou continued to train wholeheartedly even into December and had a quiet New Year’s Eve together in their rundown apartment.
On New Year’s Eve, they went to a nearby shrine to ring the temple bell, and on New Year’s Day, they ate zouni made by Kiyose. (2)
The tension was building minute by minute, but even that felt good. It was because he wasn’t alone; in Chikusei-sou, Kakeru could feel the presence of the people he had been training and living with.
He wasn’t alone—until he started running.
He had comrades who were always, always, waiting for him to start running, to finish running and to come home.
The ekiden was that sort of sport.
---
At last, it was January 2.
The Hakone Ekiden began.
It was the end of the year-long battle the ten of them had been engaged in. At the same time, it was the beginning of the first and last fierce battle of the ten, which would be handed down as long as there was a Hakone Ekiden.

Winx Club Reboot: How would the first 2 episodes go? I know that you mentioned some of it before but I mean something more complete instead of bits.
Okay here we go!
Since I decided to bump them up to college age because that makes more sense to me, it starts with a 'going away to college' party. Bloom's Earth Friends have all been accepted to their dream schools, and are leaving the next day. Bloom laments on how she doesn't know what to do yet, despite getting acceptance letters, and decides to take a year off to help her mom in the flower shop and think about what she wants to do with her life.
Like in Canon, on the way home she runs into Stella being attacked by Ghouls. Side note: I am kinda dropping Knut from being the Trix's lackey. I like him enough, but he's a little redundant so I'm just jumping to having him already as Alfea's janitor/handyman.
Anyway! Bloom can't just sit back and watch, so she jumps into the fight. Mostly using a tree branch, but also managing to tap into some Magic.
Afterward, Stella doesn't faint but starts talking casually to Bloom asking things like 'Where are you from?" and 'Are you going to Alfea or Cloud Tower?'. Bloom confesses that she has no clue what Stella's talking about.
We get exposition on other worlds with Magic. And how Earth doesn't have Magic. The only Magic people here would be tourists like Stella. So for Bloom to have been living here... it's weird.
Bloom takes Stella back home, and they explain the whole 'Magic is real and Bloom has powers' thing to her parents. Her parents believe it a little quicker in this version, but they keep giving one another A Look™.
Stella tells them that they can kill two birds with one stone. Bloom needs some kind of training with her Magic, so going to Alfea(or Cloud Tower) is a good idea. And there are people there who might know what's going on.
Instead of Canon's Troll Fight, Stella takes them all to Alfea, Yes all of them because that 'barrier that keeps non-Magic people out' is so stupid in a world where literally everyone is Magic.
As I was saying, she takes them to Faragonda's office and explains 'hey I was on Earth and found this girl with Magic. Don't know what to make of that so help???',
Faragonda is very curious. A Magixae on Earth? How could this have happened. Especially as she can feel that Bloom is quite powerful.
She asks if Bloom is adopted, and Bloom's like 'yeah but why does that matter?'. Stella catches on and guesses 'Oh. So maybe when you were a baby your parents were from somewhere else and took a vacation to Earth. They died somehow, and the local Authorities thought you were a normal Earth baby and put you in their system!".
It makes sense.... except why is this the first time Bloom has used Magic? She should've just instinctively done things like any Magixae, but she never exhibited powers until today.
Her parents give each other that look again, which makes everyone go 'okay you two clearly know something so spill!".
Mike confesses that while they told Bloom she was adopted, they didn't tell her the whole story and let her think they just got her from the system the normal way. Here, he confesses to how he found her in a burning building, completely unbothered by the flames. He always thought he was going crazy but now...
Faragonda is even more curious about this now. This wasn't an accident. Bloom was hidden on Earth. Put somewhere she would be found by decent people, with her powers Sealed until something Magic(Stella) ran across her. Who did this and why? Was it a good reason or something nefarious?
Faragonda makes a deal. Bloom can come to Alfea and learn to use her Magic and hopefully find her origins. All she has to do is keep her grades up, and update Faragonda on what she learns.
Episode 2:
Bloom moves into the dorm rooms and meets Tecna, Musa and Flora. God those names kill me.
After some dodging of questions, eventually Bloom talks about the 'yeah I'm from Earth and didn't know Magic existed until like. Yesterday.'. Which throws them all for a loop.
Tecna comments on trying to guess where Bloom's from through her attributes, but Bloom's Domino traits are still under a Glamour for now so she doesn't get anything conclusive.
The girls decide to give Bloom a tour of the surrounding area, some exposition to the Audience, and help her out. Like, one fun thing is that there are so many unfamiliar foods! And fashions too!
Bloom gets separated at some point and accidentally hears the Trix talking about Stella. She's a little sus because they sound like they're mean and planning something so she follows them.
They end up in a fight. Well. Bloom can't transform and the Trix are third years at Cloud Tower so they absolutely demolish her until the rest of the Winx show up and help out. They're still out-powered but they managed to get away because the Trix ain't gonna commit several murders downtown right now.
There's some discussion from the girls on how Bloom is.... very behind when it comes to Magic. She's baby your honor! But yeah literally she has no experience or knowledge of how a lot of things should work. So they start discussing plans to help her catch up so she isn't falling behind too much once classes start.
And that's the first two episodes basically!

F(h)atewatch Part 2:
How Is Not One of These Girls Likable?
The only thing I will give this show points for is glowy eyes when magic. The cartoon should have had more of that
Oh hey, starting with a sleeping Bloom. Should have done that in the pilot tho. Now that would have been a nice nod to the og
Plus this is only driving home how freaking boring this Bloom is. Where is my girl freaking out trying to get dressed as fast as possible?
Ok but seriously why is the only bit of backstory for Aisha we do have that she was on the swim team, when that just goes against the most vital point of Aisha's story in the cartoon? Are they actively trying to butcher these girls?
Wait, if Stella couldn't afford to lose that ring why did she give it to Bloom? This isn't even about her potentially losing it. She meant for Bloom to just not come back. How exactly was she planning on collecting it before?
Also this is still a bad plot! I know it all sucks but that moment where Bloom gives up that ring to save Stella's life is one of my favorites in the cartoon
It just sucks that instead of a storyline that shows how much they've come to care for each other, they're just using the ring for more catiness between them
If they had to center Terra's storyline around her insecurities couldn't they have at least found a way to do it without making it seem like she's never dressed herself before?
Man, fuck this knock-off Avatar stuff. Where's my cool hair color changing classes?
You know Bloom feeling betrayed by not-Faragonda would hit a lot harder if they had had more scenes together and it was established that she was someone Bloom trusted deeply
...I will never complain about the specialist scenes in the cartoon being boring ever again
Jesus, I knew I was gonna hate Stella. I knew I wasn't gonna vibe with white Musa and Flora. But for all I knew I would not care for this Bloom, I was not expecting to hate her this much
he is so fucking rude to and about everyone. It's a little hard to feel for her being an outcast when she clearly doesn't like anybody anyway. I miss the girl who was so happy to finally have friends she made them a group logo after one (1) hang-out
At this point I have to believe they're trying to make these people as unlikable as possible
Stella and Bloom are still sorta gay? The wrong kind. I don't care for the whole "she's mean to her bc she secretly likes her" trope even with good writing, and this ain't that. But it's good to know their gay energy is strong enough to transer even to the shittiest most ooc adaptation imaginable
Plus this show is 200% gonna pretend they're friends next season, so it's good the actresses have some amount of chemistry to make thsir scenes enjoyable without context if nothing else
This scene is still awful tho. Literally just let girls support each other jesus christ it's not that hard. Also Stella would be all about otters holding hands. Stella and Bloom basically are a couple of otters holding hands smh
White Musa has a point. Why is Aisha so commited to being friends with asshole Bloom?
I've never seen a piece of "lgbt rep" so obviously written by queerphobic people
The concept of white Musa and Sam(who the FUCK is Sam)'s dynamic is actually kinda interesting. Too bad every scene with this girl pisses me off on principle
I can see now why even my mother picked up on how bad the black best friend trope in this show is, when she normally doesn't notice that stuff as much as I do(not that she doesn't care, she's very vocal about it for a middle aged mostly white woman. But with online fandom I just have more oppurtunities to learn). Like this is just excessive
Actually since I mentioned my mom. She's as Asian as I've heard people say Elisha is and she straight up laughed at the implication that that would somehow qualify her to play a character like Musa. So that sums up how I feel about that defense
Is that a voice calling Bloom? No fucking way did they keep Daphne. She's one of best, most emotional parts of the cartoon. She's so vital to Bloom's story. There's no way they wouldn't get rid of her
"Thank you" Come on asshole Bloom say it with me. This girl just saved your life, you can handle a simple "thank you"
Good to see this version of Sky is also the type to get emotionally invested in a new girl while still dating someone else. I mean don't get me wrong I despise mean girl Stella, but he is being a fucking tool about this
I mean he wasn't flirting with Bloom in front of Stella earlier but that shit was not innocent. And you can't have a guy seeing his distressed girlfriend, ask about her dormmate that he likes before asking how she is, and expect me to see him as a good guy
And of course that's exactly what they're going to do. Sky is the swell guy caught dating the bitch, but is secretely in love with the girl next door(who is also a jerk but whatever)
Lane markings do tell you what to do tho? Isn't that kinda the point?
Ooooh scary blank eyes Im shaking in my boots

Flora Headcanons:
Tumblr media
Guys, meet the Sugar and Sweet part of the Winx Club.
Or, as you already know her: Flora La Rosa of Linphea.
Under the cut are the headcanons because again, these get long. (Also some I’ve mentioned before, I think, but whatever. And again, these are mostly for my main verse ‘Balance/The New Company of Light’ and for ‘Left’.)
-Flora has a rather large family, one that stems partially from cousins adopted after the Great War of Magic ended. (So many were displaced or orphaned, and her family was just one of many who took in the children left behind.)
-Honestly though, she really just sees her immediate family often, the rest of them coming around only for major Linphean holidays. (Though they all stay in touch through letters, phone calls, and social media. Especially the cousins.)
-Flora tends to be closer to her father as they share a similar sense of humor and have similar hobbies (like leaf surfing and giant ladybug racing). But her magic took after her mother’s and her mother was her first magic teacher.
-(She was a bit late getting her magic and a bit late getting her wings. She was eight when her magic came in and already 13 by the time her wings sprouted. Though she wasn’t surprised, as her mother had been a late ‘winger’ too.)
-Flora’s mother is the Guardian Fairy of Linphea and helps run the Main GreenHouse alongside the Nymph of Linphea and the royal family. Thanks to Alyssa’s job, Flora got to meet and assist all sorts of people from her realm. (Including the witch triplets who went to Cloud Tower; Euphorbia, Ververine, and Gerbera. And Princess Krystal.)
-Rhodos works with a faction of conservationists in Linphea to keep endangered animals (and plants) alive. He mainly works with the magiwolves of Linphea and tries to keep their numbers where they’re supposed to be. And because of his job, he ended up adopting a young magiwolf pup they named Amarok.
- (They weren’t going to keep him… They weren’t. But because he was born a different pigment than his littermates, his mother had abandoned him and… Rhodos couldn’t very well leave him to die. Besides, Amarok is nothing more than an overgrown lapdog. Usually.)
-Miele was born when Flora was about six or seven, give or take a few months. And yes, there was a touch of jealousy when Miele first came home because Flora didn’t understand why her parents weren’t spending as much time with her.
-Her parents were quick to pick up on her anxieties about the new baby and started incorporating Flora into assisting with Miele’s care. (Like reading and playing with her while Alyssa made dinner and helping her toddle around the family’s garden while naming off the plants.)
-Honestly, they grew up close and Flora became like a second mom to Miele. (Which would later turn into a minor annoyance as Miele got older, but that’s fine. They’re working through that.)
-Sibling shenanigans still occurred however, like Miele taking and reading Flora’s diary or Flora planting frogs or bugs into her sister’s room. (Or the Great Baking War that Alyssa refuses to let them live down.)
-Flora’s paternal grandmother, Nana Rose, is close to her family and has been living with them since her husband, Poppop Miden passed away.
-She’s a witch who works at the local clinic, her focus is on potions. (Which she passed on to Flora and has tried to teach her everything she knows about them… And everything she knows on poisons too because sometimes a poison is necessary.)
-And yes, Nana Rose did have hope that at least one of her granddaughters would be a witch, but she’s still proud of them. Wings and all.
-Flora has a hidden angry side. It doesn’t come out much and she does her best not to show it often, but she has a major temper when she does slip and let it out. She will unleash her will into the plant life around her and have it come for whoever pissed her off. Or if she’s really feeling it, she may just go in for a physical attack. The girl can pack a punch. (Granted, this only happens in situations where loved ones are in danger.)
-Flora is the only one from her elementary and middle school friend group that went to a Magix School. Most of her friends went to the Linphean Academy.
-She’s the tallest in her main friend group, standing at 5’7.
-She’s one of the Mom friends in the group, the other being Tecna. (She’s the more empathetic and emotional mom friend. Tecna’s the ‘well you fucked around and found out the hard way’ mom friend.)
-Flora wasn’t too sure about Chatta being her pixie at first, but is beyond grateful for the pixie helping her come out of her shell more.
-They now attempt to have weekly (though it’s sometimes monthly) tea parties to catch up on everything.
-Flora doesn’t really ‘do’ competitive sports often, but leaf surfing is the best thing ever and it’s one of the few sports she’s better at than Layla. (Though she does have the advantage of being Linphean and getting to leaf surf regularly…)
-Flora is a romantic and enjoys the ‘rom-com’ things; walks on the beach, silly moments around the town, dancing in the rain. But that shouldn’t mean she’s not careful with her heart. She’s empathic (as many Linpheans are) and is good at reading people when meeting them. So unless you’ve got a ‘beautiful’ soul, she’s not going to be interested.
-Flora loves that her friends are from such vastly different places because it means she can learn more about the realms from people who actually live there. (And teach her their languages, though she’s only really fluent in Solarian and conversational in the others.)
-She’s a spiritual person, as many from Linphea are. Flora believes that just like plant life, all life is connected by an invisible root system and that life is precious and should be treated with respect. (However, she also recognizes that there are those who have ‘tainted spirits’ and need to be dealt with so they don’t harm others.)
-Flora’s not exactly shy. She’s just shy around new people. But once she gets to know you and considers you a friend, you’ll find she has no problem speaking her mind. (And sending random things to you over the phone because they made her think of you.)
-There’s a misconception that she, and other Linpheans, are vegetarian. That’s not entirely true. Linpheans do eat meat: fish. They don’t have it often, only for certain occasions, but they do eat it.
-Flora also doesn't mind dirt or getting dirty. (But there is a difference in natural dirt and gunk. Okay? And gunk sucks.)
-Flora doesn't swear often, but she has let a few slip out from time to time. Usually in heated or emotional or upsetting moments.
-Her favorite parts of an Linphean holiday are getting to spend time with her family. She loves it when they all get together and enjoy each other.
-Like most Linpheans, Flora is immune to most poisons. She’ll likely feel a touch of nausea or a minor headache when poisoned, but due to her immune system, she’ll be perfectly fine within a few hours.
-Despite the fact she’s usually the one trying to talk the others out of dangerous situations, doesn’t mean she’s actually afraid of them. Sneaking into another school, fighting through a realm of shadow creatures, going toe-to-toe with magical terrorists; those don’t phase her.
-No, her real fear is something a bit more… Relatable. She’s scared of losing her loved ones. The thought of having her magic and being able to do such incredible things, but not being able to save her family or her friends just absolutely shakes her to core. (Especially in her nightmares when she’s forced to watch them die and she can’t do a thing to save them.)
-(Freshman year really fucked her up when they were fighting the Army of Darkness/Decay. There was a moment she thought she’d lost Musa and Tecna and she nearly broke down. Thankfully, the other two fairies managed to recover with a few of Palladium and Ofelia’s healing salves, but it was touch and go.)
-Flora can’t stand bullies. Granted, not many people like bullies or tolerate them, but Flora just can’t stand for someone to pick on anything that can’t fight back. It’s why she’s managed to enchant a few endangered plant species to being able to speak up and fight back against those who want to pick them apart and why she’s always ready to take on the Trix.
-Flora was the one who helped catch Bloom up on some of the most important aspects of the Magical Dimension (or at least the parts that Stella glossed over or that Tecna overexplained to the point of making it sound alien even to Flora). In return, she learned so much about Earth culture… She was stunned.
-(And fell in love with Earth’s versions of disaster movies. She likes to show other Linpheans and be like “see, if we don’t start really helping the other realms with the ecological problems, this will happen here too.”)
-(Bloom may have also gotten Flora hooked on those ‘hidden camera’ shows... It’s a guilty pleasure.)
-Flora’s got a major sweet tooth. Major. Which is fine because the girl is great at baking. (The other girls are always excited to taste test.)
-Flora’s not quite as delicate as others make her out to be. Yes, her hands are soft despite being in dirt and soil 80% of the time (Linphean lotions are awesome), and yes she’s good a giving that gentle touch to her plants, but she’s physically stronger than she appears. She can lift 50 pound bags of fertilizer with little issue. She’s pretty handy with a shovel (and not just for digging, which her poor cousin Marlow found out when a prank went wrong). And she’s not ‘razer thin’. She has decent muscle mass and is a bit on the broad side. Doesn’t make her any less graceful in the air or on the ground.
-In a fight, she tries to be more defensive than offensive because she doesn’t want to get in Bloom, Layla, or Stella’s way. And she finds her spells work better as traps than as an offensive maneuver. That said, if she feels her friends are in extreme danger, she will not hesitate to call on the Plant Life around them for help. (And she’s known for getting physical too, so watch out for that.)
-Aside from Layla, Flora feels a connection to Roxy. The younger girl’s passion about animals makes her think of her father and she does her best to encourage Roxy to use her passion in her magic.
-Bloom introduced Flora to the game Minecraft. For the first time, Flora understands why Tecna gets so involved in her videogames. (Please send help, she may be addicted. But her farm is looking amazing.)
-Flora doesn’t really worry about fashion, preferring to go by what she feels is comfortable, but she has a hard time saying ‘no’ to Stella when the other fairy has ideas. (Which usually turn out to be beautiful and comfortable and really, Flora just has the best friends.)
-Flora enjoys the nights when all six Winx Club girls can just hang out and be normal for a few hours. Sleepovers, Truth or Dare, movies and junk food. She loves it.
-She got close to Mirta while the other girl was a pumpkin, even finding a way to communicate despite the spell. After the spell was broken and during their sophomore year, Flora was one of the students who helped show Mirta around and made sure she was comfortable. They often talk and catch up. (And yes, Flora did have a hand in helping push Mirta and Lucy together. She regrets nothing.)
-Flora has thought about a tattoo. Many people on her realm get them, though it’s not a requirement nor does it give any extra magical benefits. She just doesn’t know what to get and she wants it be special. (All she knows is where she’d put it, over her burn scar from the Wizards.)
-At her time at Alfea (and in her middle school), Flora was part of the Student Council and Eco Club. She did her best to help make her schools a little more ‘green’ and energy proficient. (Tecna was a big help in coming up with a design for more efficient electrical equipment.)
-Out of all the girls, Flora has the hardest time connecting to Musa with convergence. Their personalities and magical abilities tend to clash from time to time, so they need to really strike a feeling of harmony before trying.
-Bloom is the easiest to converge with. They shared a room and often had so many late-night chats that their auras and feelings just naturally come together when needed.
-Out of all the girls, she’s the most likely to continue living on Earth. She finds the realm so fascinating. (It was a magically dead planet that kept on living... Just.... how?)
-Flora’s current goal in life is to start the revival process of other dead realms in the Magical Dimension. She feels that if she and her friends can resurrect Domino, bring ShadowHaunt back to its former glory, and bring magic back to Earth, they should be able to handle bringing others back to life too.
