even on the way to work you've had many compliment you. you can never go one day without having someone saying something about your outfit.

it was cute and kind at first, but overtime you've started to feel uncomfortable...all these eyes on you, this compliments left and right?

it was overwhelming for you, and dazai popped the bubble when he once again complimented you.

"dazai- stop! okay, i get it! you don't need to keep telling me!"

cue the eyebrow raise.

"i'm only speaking the truth!"

"yeah, too much if it!"

thats the day he found out you weren't the biggest fan of compliments. once or twice, okay thank you, repeating it five times over, okay bye.

one evening, you and dazai were in the bar located under the agency, having a few drinks before you part ways and you head home while dazai...wandered somewhere else where.

however, plans were cut short when a man who looked around to be in his late 20's stumbled in, reaking already of alcohal.

he took a stool from beside you and sat on it, watching you. dazai was gone, he was in the bathroom when this man walked in, so you were left with him.

"hey there, cutie~" the man leaned more toward you.

you didn't look at him, and played with the rim of your glass.

"nice outfit you have there~ love the view of the legs~ how about you show more of it~"

you shivered, feeling his fingers trace up and down your thigh. you tried to pull away from him, but he followed you.

suddenly, dazai walked back out and you instantly felt relieved.

"sorry, sir~ but i already have someone taking me home.." you stood up, the creep watching yoi walk toward dazai and wrap an arm around his own...which caused him to freeze.

"y-y/n?-"

you eyed the man.

dazai made an "o" shape, before clearing his throat.

"is-is something wrong, dear?"

you shook your head, smiling to yourself.

"no babe, now come on! i'm tried, take me home!"

dazai knew you were faking, but his soft pink blush was indeed real.

as you both walked past the man, you kicked his chair leg, causing him to fall to the floor.

as you and dazai walked out the door and took a turn, you pulled away from him and sighed dramatically, "ugh, i hate drunk people..well, drunk people who are creeps.." you shiver.

dazai chuckled, "that trick you pulled? smart way to get away from creeps like that man...however, your lucky i'm your friend, otherwise i would have said i wasn't your partner~"

you roll your eyes, "whatever...i'm going home. call me if ya' need something.."

and dazai watched you walk off, turning on his heels to walk the opposite way. his arms over his hand and a smirk decorated his face.

chuuya would also compliment you, but since he's your best friend, you felt more comfortable.

you explained to him, when this feeling starting to form, that when other people compliment you, it makes you feel awkward.

he understood and also took the compliments down a peg.

"i just..don't like all the attention!"

he nods, "that's okay. the spotlight isn't for all to enjoy.."

timesmkip to a couple of weeks later.

work was okay.

the compliments from people died down when yoh started to not care so much about what you wore, much to chuuya's demise.

he told you don't need to hide your entire body, but also understood why you do it, and doesn't push it.

that was, until one night was anncouned a party night, for some sort of port mafia achivement?

you and chuuya left the group, not honestly caring what they're missing out.

half of it was probably postponed because elise wouldn't wear the dress moir bought for her for over 1000$.

so, you both decided to have a few drinks together by the bar closest to where you live.

you ordered yours, and he ordered his drink and couple hours went by.

laugher, talking, and jokes fell upon those hours.

however, the hour you planned to leave a guy around your age stumbled into the bar.

you instantly felt his eyes on you, and you felt your stomach drop. he sat right beside you while chuuya was on the other side.

they guy didn't see him, and instantly spoke to you.

"hey there, cutie~ whats a attractive sweetie doing here all alone late at night~?"

he spoke, his breath stinks, but you couldn't say anything when you felt him lean in closer to you.

chuuya watched, his hand clutching his glass, but he didn't want to cause a scene..yet.

he glared daggers at the man, but he didn't notice.

"what's a sad, single loser doing in a bar all alone? are you that sad you need alcohal to find another purposein life,l-?" you rolled your eyes, taking a sip of your drink.

suddenly, you felt the man grab your wrist and pull the drink down, leaning close to your ear-

he licks his lips, "mm you're a fiesty one? that's okay~ it just makes you more hotter~ how about you come back home with me, i'll be able to make you feel real ho-"

before chuuya could step in and knock gravity out of his existance, his scream of pain caused him to stop.

you grabbed his arm, twisting it behind his back and slammed his head to the table, standing up from your seat and gripped his hair.

"not to burst your bubble, but i'm already taken~" you eyed chuuya, who blinked once..twice..

he stood from his seat, grabbed the man by the collor and pushed him to the floor, stepping on his back, keeping him down with his gravity.

"treat another person like you just did to my partner, and you'll be buried six-feet-under, ya'hear me?"

the man stuttered out an apology, chuuya letting him up and you both watched him run out the door.

you thanked chuuya for going on with the plan, saying your goodbyes.

if he had to, he would do it again

chuuya stayed to finish his drink, cursing your name when he realized he had to pay for your drink.

he loves your aesthetic.

even he compliments you because he's just trying to be nice.

you would thank him, smiling sotftly at him and going on with yiur day.

however until one day, when he complimented you, your sighed heavily, hiding your face in your hands.

he tilts his head in confusion, rubbing your shoulder, asking what's wrong.

"y/n? are you okay?"

you sighed, "yeah! i'm fine- just...all these compliments i'm getting from strangers! it's awkward! i don't know what to say all the time and there are some people...who try to...touch me."

you mumbled the last part, atsushi nodding slowly.

he listened to you rambled and asked his he could hug you.

of course, you agreed and engulfed him in a hug.

overtime, he's died down on the compliments, wanting to respect your bounderies and not upset you.

until one night, atsushi and you finished work later then usual and the weretiger offered to walk you home.

you and him were chatting for a little bit, until you wandered past a bakery.

atsushi asked if you wanted anything, but you shaked your head and said you can wait out here for him.

there were seats in front of the door, so you sat down and waited for him.

couple minutes passed...and suddenly there was a teenager, probably the same age as atsushi and he looked...drunk.

you took out your phone and earbuds, trying your best to distract yourself.

it was working...to some extent.

the teenager noticed you, and you could smell the alcohal on him when he came close to you.

"hey baby~" he cooed at you, sitting down on the chair beside you.

you took a unnoticed deep breath and looked up at him, to frightened to move.

"look at this hot outfit your wearing~ hm, they look sooo good on you~" he giggled, rubbing his hand up and down your thigh.

you tried to kick him away, but he gripped your leg tighter.

"i think it would look better~ if it showed more of these smooth legs of yours-"

suddenly, atsushi walked out of the bakery.

"ugh, sorry y/n! the bakery was short-staffed so it took longer to gte my-"

"finally babe, your back!" you stood up, legs shaking softly and you hugged atsushi, whispering in his ear.

"we need to leave, now.."

atsushi looked at boy he didn't see at first, and glared at his drunk body.

his head was hung low and he kept giggling, "awh~ don't think about leaving so soon~"

atsushi grabbed the boy by the collor and pulled him off the ground.

"touch another stranger like that again, and you'll wish you never did." he dropped the man who was gaspong for air and scurried away, running into walls and poles.

he's on his own now...

atsushi looked abck at you, "are you okay?"

you laughed, "yeah..hey, i told you i didn't want anything.."

you pout, grabbing a bag of smal muffins.

"i know, but i thought you were hungry after today."

you smiled, thanking him.

as you both continued your walk, atsushi suddenly stops when he realized something.

Review: Lamento stageplay

I've been waiting for a Lamento stageplay since the DRAMAtical Murder stageplay in 2019, so I'm really happy that it's finally real and that I got to watch this one! Since I also wrote a blog post about the sweet pool stageplay, I wanted to write one about the Lamento one too. I really enjoyed it! As usual the pictures I used in this blog are pictures posted by the staff and the official Twitter account! Please check it out if you want to see more.

First of all, this stageplay is pretty long! It's almost three hours long, an hour longer than Nitro+Chiral's previous stageplays. As usual, the first 45 minutes were a bit of a common route in which all the characters appeared. This was mostly the same in every route, but it did change a bit near the ending. After a short 10 minute break, it split into three different routes, so I had to watch three different shows to see all of the endings. It's technically a "musical drama (音楽劇)" which means it combines elements of a stageplay and a musical. I was kind of expecting only the Sanga to sing, but the main characters (Rai, Asato and Bardo) also sing together with Konoe sometimes! My favorite song was probably the opening song, when all of them sung a new version of Itou Kanako's "Lamento" with different lyrics! They also sang a slightly different version at the end of the stageplay. The common route also has two duet songs sung by Rai and Konoe, as Konoe learns about his power as a Sanga.

The new music was really nice, especially the background music. I love how they brought back the composers who made the game's OST to create new songs! I lowkey wish the devils had more songs because whenever they did sing during the opening and ending song of the stageplay, they sounded amazing together! I think it would also be great if they released studio recordings of the songs, as they are always a bit better than the live versions. So far they did already release an album of the instrumental songs which you can buy here, Ototoy shouldn't be region locked, so I think anyone can buy it!

The stage This time the venue was the same as the DRAMAtical Murder stageplay (Shinagawa Stellar Ball), which I've actually been to before, however it looked completely different this time! I liked how they turned the stage into one big forest. Whenever Leaks used his power on Konoe, they used this effect which made the stage look strange and trippy, it was really cool! I also really liked the green light effects they used whenever Konoe would use his Sanga abilities. The screenwriter Uchida Hiroki posted this picture on his Twitter account which kind of gives you an idea what it looked like!

Plot I was curious how they would turn a rather long game into a stageplay, but I think it worked surprisingly well. They kind of skipped over some of the stuff that happens early in the game when Konoe is still in Karou, but they do explain the general story, like the problems caused by the Void and the Sickness. Shui's character also kind of functions as a narrator in the stageplay, similar to Kamiya in the sweet pool stageplay and Virus and Trip in the DRAMAtical Murder stageplay, which is always a nice addition. It's not unusual for fans of the actors to watch stageplays without knowing the original source material, so I think this makes it possible for everyone to enjoy the show, no matter if they're familiar with the game or not.

Now for the different routes, I think all of them were great and the actors definitely put a lot of effort into their roles. Bardo's actor was really funny, especially in the scenes in which he teased Konoe (when he wanted a kiss lol), but I think he also did a great job during the serious scenes! I think Bardo's and Rai's actors had a lot of fun messing around with each other, like jokingly pushing each other, or fighting each other with their tails, which happened during one of the curtain calls people were allowed to record. Asato's actor definitely was a lot more calm compared to these two, but he did a great job at showing Asato's gentle personality! His actor mentioned listening to the drama CDs too including Lamento Love Love Gakuen, doing some extra research! (And for some reason he suddenly got into Togainu no Chi if I look at his Twitter account now...). They ended the stageplay performances on Sunday with Rai's route. Rai's actor, Katou Shou, did an incredible job as Rai during the more emotional scenes, like when Rai insists Konoe finds another Touga because he's afraid he will hurt Konoe. That scene in which Konoe realizes Karou (his hometown) had been completely consumed by the Void was also incredible.

I should probably mention that they showed the good ends only, so no devil endings in this one sadly. Razel's actor agreed that Razel should have his own route because every devil gets quite some scenes depending on the route, but Razel is always kind of left out! Also, can I just say that I absolutely love Froud's stageplay actor, he did such a great job at making the character look intimidating (he's also very tall...) even his voice sounds similar to Froud in the game. I also really liked Leaks' actor, he has a nice deep voice, and Shui's actor liked teasing him sometimes!!

I'm just happy that Lamento has been getting new content again lately, first the webtoon and now the stageplay. You can find lots of pictures and recordings that were taken with permission if you look for the ラメステ hashtag on Twitter! I saw that both Froud's and Konoe's original voice actors (Sasanuma Akira and Hatano Kazutoshi) actually went to watch the stageplay in person. Slow Damage's artist Yamada Uiro, who's also in charge of lots of other official Nitro+Chiral illustrations, also watched the stageplay and drew some new art of it! Always happy to see new Lamento art in the year 2024, I've been enjoying all of the new fanart posted on Twitter as well.

I wonder what stageplay they're planning on doing next, only Slow Damage and Togainu no Chi remain (unless they're planning on bringing Itsuwari no Alkanet or World End's Nightmare back). Next year is Togainu no Chi's 20th anniversary, so I am curious if they are going to release anything new! The director of Nitroplus (Digitaro) also mentioned that N+C is currently working on a new project, though it's currently unknown if it's a new game, Slow Damage fandisc or something else. I guess I will be patient!

Okay like...I'm not a huge Hermes fan because of what happens later with him but..I can tell you are very excited about him and your stuff involving him and you're afraid no one will like or ask about it. I like to encourage people to chase what they love and inspires them so...

I am asking. Lay it on me! Give me all the Hermes stuff that makes you excited! (If you're comfortable doing it.) Headcannons, thoughts, um..I don't AO3 but if you have links to stories with him...whatever you want to share! Go for it!

Onto your actual ask, which is just a chance for me to blab about Hermes for a bit, which I know will end up way too long, so I’ll put it under a cut.

So, I want to start by saying that you are absolutely right Inxli-mun in that it’s been difficult for me to talk about Hermes, for multiple reasons, but a big one is that so many in the fandom seem to hate him. I mean he is the one that is easy to point to and say that he caused the final days in the first place and that he’s to blame for literally everything that happened afterwards. So I get it, I really do. But it also means that it makes me really anxious about even talking about him, let alone gpose or write about him. So hopefully this will help me in doing so in the future.

Here’s the thing. From the beginning, I was in the “love to hate him” camp about Fandaniel. I was intrigued with his character and wanted to know more, but I wasn’t exactly excited about his total nihilism, especially in the Pre-EW patches when we first got a taste of him. He got a bit more interesting after the Amon reveal right before Tower of Zot. As a fan of Allag stuff, I liked the reveal and all, but I still didn’t know at all what to expect next. When we got to Fandaniel’s death when he became the heart of Zodiark, I felt like he was an interesting villain, but not my favorite in FFXIV, and I thought that was that. I didn’t think we’d get anything more about Fandaniel, let alone his Unsundered self.

Then came Elpis, and the more I heard and saw, the more I realized that I was going to fall in love with this character, or should I say the Unsundered Fandaniel anyway. The reveal that his name was Hermes got me so damn giddy already because I have always loved Hermes from Greek Mythology. Then when Hermes first spoke in Elpis, I recognized Jeremy Ang Jones’ voice, as he was clearly Amon/Fandaniel, but he spoke so softly and it just hit me with the feels instantly. I have no idea why, but I find a great voice to be a huge turn on, and Hermes just did it for me. His beautiful green eyes also greatly help in the sexiness department for me.

Seriously though, the more I learned of Hermes, the more I felt for him. His caring nature and compassion for all of the creations, his devotion and fatherly love for Meteion, and his kindness towards the WoL just made me love him so deeply. And he was so unique amongst the Ancients, with his love for all creatures, not just his fellow people, and not to mention that I saw a lot of myself in him with his depression, as I myself have chronic depression and anxiety. It all spoke to me, and way after I had finished 6.0, I still couldn’t shake him from my mind. Though I had no intention on shipping with him for the longest time, since it took me nearly 2 years to do so, he had stolen my heart, just as Aymeric, G’raha, Cid, etc. had done before.

So I don’t want this to turn into a full blown essay on him, even though I have already written so much already, but I wanted to talk a bit about why I love him, and that my love is very much for Hermes, and not as much for Fandaniel as the sundered ascian. I very much see Hermes, Amon, and Ascian Fandaniel as all separate characters, even though they all share the same soul whose trauma can be first attributed to the suffering that Hermes experienced.

Though I am still figuring out not only a canon timeline, especially with the newest short story coming in and wrecking a few things that I had planned, but I also have a few headcanons for the Modern AU with Urania x Hermes, and I also I do want to do a Happy Ending AU for Hermes, but I am not entirely certain if I could pull that last one off. So for now, I’ll give you a handful of headcanons for the Modern AU.

Hermes is a single father who adopted Meteion when she was a few months old, and she is obviously not a familiar in this modern setting but a little girl who wants her papa to find love. He is in graduate school working towards his master’s and eventually his PhD in Astronomy, but he still doesn’t earn enough to support himself and his daughter, so he is a barista at the local coffee shop. It is at the coffee shop where he meets Urania, who is a regular customer. They then bump into each other at the university and realize that they are in the same Astronomy graduate program. Some other hobbies that Hermes has is bird watching and cooking, along with spending his free time with Meteion as much as he can. I’m still figuring out how I want the romance to develop, but I’m very excited about this AU because it can just be a sweet love story and no big bad stuff happening like the Final Days.

Non BL Fan watches Only Friends - Part II (Part I)

Ok. So it turns out that although I had to convince them to watch this show and share some thoughts with me, Neely really committed to the bit and is now enjoying the writing part more than the show. When I first talked to them about this, they said it would take 2/3 weeks to watch all of it. Turns out they watched 9 episodes in 3 days. And they already finish the show by the time this gets posted. So the final part of this will come soon.

So, they wrote a lot about episodes 5 - 9. And I haven't really been able to catch up to them so this time I won't be adding to it. Also, this is gonna be a bit long so if you want more general view of their thoughts on the show so far, skip to the end, to the conclusion. They separated it more or less by character so I'll add titles so it gets easier to read.

Neely's thoughts episodes 5 through 9 Just quick notes first:

I'm glad Chueam had a little bit more presence, even if just as supporting act.

I’m annoyed at this thing of framing Ray as taking Mew on "a bad path" as if Mew has no agency. Mew just spent ages teasing Top with no sex and in that relationship he had all the agency, and felt able to put his boundaries, but now he can't refuse alcohol and drugs? Ofc it's reactive to what happened, but so is Ray's usage and nobody seems to give him the same credit or patience. That said, Ray is being a lil bitch in his pursuit of Mew and how he reverted into treating Sand with entitlement.

Now longer:

Boston

Boston just keeps one uping himself, at this point he's just going for asshole so at least he's not pretending, and to me, he's on a league of his own; the "girl"boss, gatekeep, gaslight self-made villain of the series. But also, what I realise has been paining me in this portrayal is - and I think this happens in other media with so-called 'sluts' - that there's a difference between being a slut and the very reality of sex addiction as an illness. And media often does this muddled mix of both, where it's not really an addiction in how they show it because often the reality of that is too much to be representing on your average TV, but it's also not being a slut. I just wanna say: sluts are happy most times. Fucking is nice, it's not always a speed-train to self-destruction, it can be about curiosity and playfulness and desire. It can be intimate and caring and genuine, even if it's a one-night stand. Sluts don't so often feel remorse about fucking people, because they are not suddenly controlled by some demonic entity of lust that cannot reject fucking even if it blows away all of their life and surroundings; sluts actively choose to fuck because they want to fuck. AND 7/10 TIMES IT IS NICE! Sluts also are not always ready and willing for actions with anyone - they have tastes and standards and preferences like most people. Boston has rejected 0 people in this show until now, and more often than not he has regretted that sex, or it has been ultimately destructive to him or people he loves, and now he fucks Chueam's brother and very clearly we start the next episode with a strong guilt scene.

I just wouldn't call Boston a slut, he's maybe a sex addict, or using sex for numbing the pain of repressing his sexuality to his dad - in a parallel to how Ray uses substances to numb his own family stuff. Sluts are some of the nicest people I've met, cause also to do that respectfully you do have to have good people skills and empathy, sex is about knowing how to relate so you do get good at...relating in general, even non-sexually. But yeah, my defense of ethical random sex for another time.

Of course there's lots of gay men, especially those who are repressed in some way (like Boston is with his dads campaign and having to hide his sexuality because of it) that end up using sex in this toxic way, as well as for validation, power, a sense of control, or just this detachment that ultimately comes from deep internalised homophobia and a sense of not deserving real intimacy and tenderness and love. Again, I think that's very real within gays - I'd say maybe my experience within western (- socialised) communities, that's often a pattern I notice more in older gays, like 40 on - generations who felt AIDS and criminalization and mortality in a way we cannot begin to imagine. So maybe within a Thai context it's more common that this repression and reaction to repression is still common in younger gay men? I don't know enough about this; I'm also mostly in quite progressive (gender-)queer communities in very out-there European queer centres, so maybe more trad western gays despite generation might feel this. Here, I wouldn't consider this group of friends trad-gays. But again, underlining all my own statements here is that cultural context possibly impacts this reading a lot and I won't pretend to know queer-thai pov.

But that's how I'm justifying this from my angle. Boston's not a slut, we gathered as a council in an emergency meeting and he has surpassed the max levels of regret and guilt and self-destruction we are allowed post-sex on a monthly basis. I'm positioning him as either sex addiction or using sex to numb pain, or both - an addiction grown from his family situation and hiding who he is. I think there's a nice parallel between his story and rays that I'm tentatively enjoying as an audience. Both are very real in the gay world too, I'd say.

Mew

I liked the confrontation scene where Mew played the track during sex. I also liked Mew's very 'meh' revenges - I think it suits the character, felt a bit too much ado about nothing, but while still being cruel. Like the burning of the paper but in a way it didn't actually trigger Top, so it's quite mean and malicious but with no real effect; and the same with Boston where he goes through all the effort of getting that fucking video to confront him and scare him and then just gives it to him, nothing happens, no effect. But still almost genuinely malicious. I think it suits the character, Mew is incredibly beige and non-eventful, a personification of a yawn but with tints of malevolence. Just think of the build up of virginity and the importance giving to losing it, and then uneventfully he looses it in a flash because Top emptied a baggy of coke. He's not concerned with actually doing or not doing a thing, he wields his full power as a character in withholding until he feels he can't withhold anymore, until he will gain more from giving that from holding back, this was proven to me even by how he was initially scared he'd lose Top for being inexperienced at sex, and when he decides to do it, he calls Boston and directly says "i feel like he'll get bored of me if I don't".

I imagine he will do the same with taking Top back; he's gonna extend it as much as he can. He weaponizes this type of power, having something someone else wants, and holding that against them: I think you can see this with Ray, with Top, now with Boston. So I liked his revenge gimmicks as a spectator, and I was glad it avoided us audiences witnessing him forcing Boston to come out; nobody needs to see that ever but let alone in the middle of this chaos, it would be too far on the unhinged scale for me.

Top

I'm still not buying Top. The way he is being acted just comes across so two-faced to me; and I don't know if that's purposefully trying to tell me something or if I have a wrong reading of the actors expressions and gaze.

But Top and his attempts at making amends... I get it, its meant to be sweet and caring towards Mew, but he's still holding on to this toxic controlling side most times. Like at the beginning of the post-break up he's trying to act all sad puppy for Mew but he's also still running away blaming everything for his own mistake instead of taking responsibility, including visiting Boston to blame him and yell at him.

When he comes to give Mew books as apology gift he says "I'm here cause I'm his boyfriend" and I'm like... 👀 Again I think some people might find that sweet but it gives me the ick, it gives me controlling partner, it gives me gaslighting, is toxic - you're broken up, acknowledge your mistake, acknowledge that the person ended things with you, and start making amends from that place.

It also didn't sit well with me that he cuddled Mew when Mew was passed out drunk. Yes cute nice caring to put him in bed and, ok, sure, pass a wet towel on his face and neck if you want, and I can even hold my side-eye and skip a breath at taking his trousers for comfort but.. this person told you almost halfway through a vomit to leave, don't stay and cuddle him as if you're still "boyfriends"; consent for that has been very clearly renounced.

I find him a bit coercive, in this way that is very common in romantic media troupes. Like I'm always on edge when he's on screen cause I feel he could be Joe Goldberg from YOU or something if shown from his perspective (sorry for another netflix comparison). But I'm open to being criticized on that because YOU did just taint my reading of every attempt at more traditional gentlemen romantic character on TV.

Sand

Ok also unnecessary to seek revenge in that way and telling ray about the recording was oh so stupid. He did ultimately caused everyone's chaos without actually being direct about it and in a way that ended up implicating everyone; and he was our most wholesome character, so that didn't pass unnoticed to me but still...

I was happy with how quickly and undramatically and genuinely he apologized to Nick and supported Nick and assumed his mistake. Hands down the most genuine principled character in this series in both romantic love and friendship.

Ray

Personally I very very much feel Ray tho. Pursuing this infatuation that is nothing but your own projection after a person has repeatedly rejected you both with and without a partner, both 2 years ago and a few weeks/months ago. - instead of someone you have gotten to know and be intimate with and you're falling for reciprocally. Like been there, it feels stupid and embarrassing to watch, but also, I feel him. To desire this dream you've been feeding in the midst of years of trauma and addiction and feeling aimless in life, he had fed this so so much as if it was his only way out of the cycle, his only salvation, that of course it holds more influence still in him than the very real possibility of mutual love & care with Sand.

We could've had a mature poly maybe, if he is really so adamant of "I can have feelings for two people", but I don't really trust that in his state, and anyway if so, do it with respect. Instead he just drops Sand and goes back to treating him a bit like he is service, or guaranteed, or like he can buy him. The way Sand got into that bath tub after Ray broke his arm and he went to help him recover, baby nooo get out of there cmon.

Also on Ray.. I wanted to point out that while he was with Sand he became so much better as a person, less messy, less entitled, he opened up. But in no way did he stop drinking.

I'm not arguing that drinking that much is a good thing, it definitely isn't good and he should work towards calming it down. but he keeps being blamed for drinking alcohol, and like alcohol is destroying his life, but actually alcohol is more a consequence than a cause (as often is). He was drinking and drunk and doing drugs with Sand, but he was held, and he was relating, cared for, and he was turning out to be a genuinely nice person. Yes I think he could learn how to give better care back to Sand, even in their best moments, but I believe he was on a right path.

The chaos within him returns when the whole Mew infatuation is triggered again. And this makes sense - he drinks because he was always rejected by his family, importantly so, his mother. Mew is a continuation of that rejection, Mew is what his destructive depressive side keeps feeding on to tell himself he is worthless, that he doesn't deserve to be loved, that he will always be rejected. He has deep abandonment and rejection trauma, exacerbated but not started by alcohol. And sadly, he is surrounded by people in their own individualistic, predominantly romantic treadmills, that do not know how to be friends. His main issue is not getting intoxicated by alcohol, is being drowned in a fairly toxic "friend" group. And this is another example of why this show cannot write good relationships that aren't monogamous and romantic, and will always privilege those. Sand is the saving romance to what friendship in this universe will never be powerful enough to heal. And I find this overall message of 1-1 romantic love trumps everything, that is drilled into the essence of this show, deeply problematic. But more on that later.

I don't know really. It's too much

It's so delusional poor guy.

It's too much for me to relate I think. I relate to the overwhelmingness of feeling, and I appreciate the representation of a deep feeler in this series and within queers or gays. Like he really said I will sob snort for this boy. But on the grand scheme of: wire-tapping Boston’s car, listening to the recording on what looked like noise canceling headphones, begging for him to stay, messaging and stalking the party... But also - giving Mew the info about AND the name of the person with Boston's sextape? He's so lost, no action he takes has a logic sense in any goal or narrative.

And I think it's cause he's lost between his good ethics and values and his obsessive infatuation for Boston. He's also generally too much of a puppet for everyone, he's lost and deranged for a boy who gave him not only crumbs but a tiny amount of crumbs about to get moldy. I found his fall into heartbreak and desperation so cringe to watch, and I felt really both sad and pity and shame for him - it was almost empathizing at one point cause we all have been played to some extent, but it went too far for me to be able to relate. But I feel for him, and also, I eye-roll for him in equal measure.

Chueam

I'm still disappointed with not getting proper Chueam content, and a story line that doesn't revolve around the messy gays. I would love if we had left the misogynist troupe of the fag-hag in the 90s and early-2000s (I know she's a lesbian, but still), and started treating women and giving them attention and stories, and defining them for themselves over being some balance or moral compass for the men. That would be much more queer, even if she was straight, than whatever this background lesbianism they went for, it's giving Willow in Buffy but set in G-A-Y Late (gay club in London, substitute for your own gay club reference).

Generally, to conclude, and sorry it's so long cause I don't feel like editing:

There's a few things that are becoming quite apparent to me, that I still would love and think it's possible to change a bit, but have little hopes it will.

1) This dude hates sex! (the creator). All the sex in this series has weird dynamics in it, it's like none of them can just fuck. Even the "slut" that is Boston, we are told he fucks around a lot and there's so many guys, but every instance of fucking that we actually are shown or are alluded to on screen, has resulted in something bad. There has been 0 genuine, non-weaponised, non-traumatic, instances of sex in this show, that weren't a part of, or even the start, of a train of terrible consecutive downhill events. Even Virgin Mew's first time is tainted by him using it as coin to get Top to stop doing coke, and also tainted by Top being dishonest just before when they just both said they'd be honest. Sex is a plot point to make everything go to shit in this universe. Let people fuck unharmed!

2) For a queer show, it's really going above and beyond to paint every aspect of queer life that isn't a straight-edge, monogamous, and orientated towards building family and career, as negative. We are meant to feel for poor delusional Nick, because he is trying to save Boston from himself and his proclivity for prostate with a promise of love and monogamy. Top himself is now beginning to assume this role in relation to Mew. We even get a random-ass parallel scene of Jennie the bar owner having a break up with her partner cause she doesn't wanna move in together. Like allow me to ask why we needed this? they were sweet and reliable as side-characters, there were numerous other plot points they could've picked to give them some spotlight, and to shine light on the tribulations of dating as trans, and trusting your partner as trans, which is the closest to a good point I can dig out of that scene. But they went for an explosive argument that equates not wanting to move in together and do a next step in normative romance, as being an issue, as being the only continuation, no other parallel paths to love can exist. There is no future in relationships in this universe that doesn't end in your typical nuclear family constellation. And this is a queer show!!!

3) For a show with "Friends" on the title, and presented in its first episode exposition as about this group of friends, it is very unconcerned with the idea of friendship.

There's a loose connection between some characters but rarely have I seen acts of true friendship. I think Sand and Nick is the best, potentially only, good representation of a healthy friendship with no extra manipulative dynamics, even with the unfortunate tainting with betrayal, the apology and resolution is rooted in a healthy and horizontal and unselfish friendship; Mew supporting Ray when he (almost?) took an overdose in the bath years before is one too; Sand consistently helping Ray could be considered that even though the intentions are muddled with romance; maybe Top now helping Mew we could make an effort to see it as an act of friendship because he told Chueam he wanted to help him even if they don't end up together. Of course Chueam too, but again she's the woman insert to be the balance to the slutty selfish men, the voice of reason on the other side of the scale (I don't feel like going further into the stereotypical gender binarism of this, but...).

I'm scrambling so much for examples that even Boston giving Mew a slight phone pep-talk before he loses his virginity could be considered one in this world of absolute friend scarcity? But it's all a reach. They all have fairly complex histories and including some trauma, and not once have they had a heart-to-heart and tried to help each other through, they base their interactions in moaning about their current - or their pursuits of - romantic relationships, or judging those who are not pursuing them, or have addictions that impact them in finding one.

The occasions of help happen ultimately because people have reached such a desperate state that they need a dramatic intervention; and the fact characters reach this level of desperation shouldn't surprise us, because ultimately all of them lack the foundational support of a good friend group.

And this makes sense with my point 2 above - this show is deeply unconcerned with any type of relationship that isn't 1-on-1 romantic partner love. These folks just happen to share space, almost at random, in their lifelong pursuit of a regular long term partnership that ultimately exists in a contextual friendless void. Which makes me think about the wider context of why they're spending time together and this hostel they're opening for a school project. Of course they were "friends" before, and so we are told, but the moments we experience of them together is one in which they are out together for a reason, for school, and not simply because they love each other and want to hang out. I'd love to see them leave their current partners at home a few more times and just hang out in a bar as pals.

Hey so this might be a weird ask but this is something that's been plaguing me for a while.

I was wondering if you could give any writing tips for Yeva to me?

I'm currently writing a fic and it's at the prequel phase which obviously means I gotta include Yeva in it, already have, but I'm not really sure how to write her.

I'd also love to go more in depth with her husband and how she interacts with, both pre and post planet explosion.

Sorry if you can't really answer this ask, just figured I'd ask the #1 Yeva fan for ideas about it.

I saw some stuff on that bulletin board I wanted to check out but I just couldn't read it so in a theory video I made I asked if anyone could look at it, obviously with only like 200 views no one did but I'm glad you checked it out. Anyways now you gotta keep in mind this what I’ve gathered from Yeva, is a mix of my interpretation of what is shown off her in canon and my HCs

Yeva is also a character that can have many different interpretations which most of them IMO are valid and make sense

Now I assume you want me to help you developing her personality wise, correct?

I think Yeva is definitely someone that is the opposite of Nori, perhaps even a reflection of Nori.

Just like Uzi is a reflection of Doll, I’ve mentioned in one of my posts that each member of the Doorman’s and each member of Doll’s family could actually mirror to eachother!

So i think it’s pretty obvious that Yeva is a rather perhaps, a cold person. Doesn’t express much or isn’t the one to usually smile or be happy go lucky or interact with people all the time, that’s Nori’s thing

Doll could actually show off some characteristics she inherited from her mom apart from the looks and the AS

Probably she is aloof, brooding, speaks very little and only necessarily, her voice rarely showing much emotion. She isn’t the kind to approach or make the first move unless it is absolutely necessary, she is the kind of person to hang out by someone’s side, rather than taking the spotlight.

Of course that doesn’t mean she is devoid of emotion, she is just isn’t a very expressive and open person, normally.

Or maybe she does likes to sometimes show off some skills she has, maybe to make some of her colleagues to back off during her time at the labs/camps used her AS.

Her EP7 teaser appearance tbh screams to me “Idgaf about ur annoying ass” energy, like she will stare at you and judge everything wrong with you, I can see her definitely being snarky when she has too

Of EP4 and EP6 show that she is still able to feel intense emotions and express them even if it isn’t her thing. After all she is going through very traumatic situations in both EPs.

Maybe you could play with then idea of her showing different sides of her depending on who she interacts. Maybe she more emotional and slightly more open towards her husband and doll, and with nori (pre-core collapse) she is a bit more reserved but still somewhat sassy and snarky, like in a bestie way.

Now some people see her basically as an anxious wet cat and a bit paranoid. Which I can also see that, mostly due to the AS and after witnessing the horrors after the core collapse, I personally think she is aware on how dangerous the AS is, mostly by possibility witnessing Nori’s possession and she herself getting momentarily possessed causing the site-48 incident

She is clearly a traumatized woman who knows how badly the AS can be, and has probably developed certain coping mechanisms like other characters, maybe some of her stand-off-ish characteristics are a way for her to “shield” herself or to not feel so much pain.

She may be someone who is stuck in the past, or is having a hard time to moving on, which tbh I cannot blame her. This is mostly an inference from the fact she kept the exact same outfit she had at CFL, unlike Nori possibly.

I can also see her having a progressive change of character/personality the more shit she has to deal with, going from a cold, snarky, resting bitch face girlboss to an anxious, traumatized, low socializing woman.

Or again, these are different sides she shows in different moments or characters, maybe she sometimes “cracks” and shows how truly she subconsciously feels sometimes.

Its also worth mentioning that my theory, her dying outside possibly looking for answers or a cure for the AS or something that could stop the AS’s plans by going back to the labs truly shows she was willing to take the risk of death for the sake of her family and maybe the other WD’s.

I feel like she wanted to give Doll everything that she never had, giving her the best life, she could also be a sort of slightly reserved mom but like still cares for her kid.

I can also see her teaching her early on how to handle herself on her own and survive. Definitely see her as someone who taught Doll to keep herself as 1st priority.

I’m good thanks, hope you are too. And thank you! I’m definitely not the only one still here keeping the fandom alive, there’s still a few of us out here, but I appreciate the love! 😁 it’s nice to know people are enjoying my posts still!

We’re actually having a small resurgence in the tags with new people watching both series, which is fun. Those people inspire me to keep posting too, it’s all full circle.

I am… not really sure how to prepare you for lolilo tbh. It’s a loose adaptation of Shakespeare’s Love’s Labors Lost, and it’s a lot heavier and angstier than NMTD for one thing, so be warned. Pedrazar is a very slow burn, be prepared for a journey! I liked Freddie right away bc I relate to her anxious energy, but you might take some time to warm up to her, that’s fair.

I recommend you head to @beatriceeagle and check out the series of Lolilo meta analysis posts she made with her sister a few years back. It’s a show that trades in subtext and has a lot of important stuff go down offscreen. Reading the metas really helps give a more thorough understanding and insight into the characters and why they behave the ways they do. It might help you understand where Freddie’s coming from, and the others too.

As far as Beadick, I’ll tell you they will break your heart, but it will be put back together again. If you need more of them, the missing offscreen moments and development of their relationship are kind of my specialty in terms of fanfiction. I wrote “the world is too quiet without you nearby”, a 16-chapter fanfic covering the time period between NMTD and Lolilo when Bea and Ben are in a long-distance relationship (plenty of fluff to pad the descent into angst). I also wrote “And We Are Finally Home”, a fic that covers the Beadick relationship arc from the lolilo episode “Confrontation” on through the end of the show- and I WILL be finishing and posting the epilogue to that fic as soon as I can, but you can read the chapters that are already up and still get a pretty complete story there. You don’t have to read them, but i wanted to share because I’m proud of them and I think they’re a good companion to the show if you like Team B! Mind the tags, but there shouldn’t be anything in the fics you can’t handle if you can handle the actual show.

The most important thing you might not get from the videos themselves: it’s canon from the creators that Benedick and Freddie and Balthazar are all dealing with anxiety disorders of some kind, though the creators didn’t actually intend to write that going in- it just happened that they agreed with the fandoms interpretation later on. So everything Ben does is colored by anxiety constantly telling him that he’s too much and that no one likes him and the only thing he’s good for is a laugh- and the (false) worry that Bea is getting sick of him and can’t wait to leave on her travels to get away from him. He’s trying to keep people from leaving him. Freddie is the way she is because she’s desperate for control in life, it’s the only way she feels calm. And Balthazar is petrified of confrontation and retreats into himself when he’s stressed. A lot of this is covered in much better depth in the metas I mentioned, but I wanted to let you know. Not as an excuse for any of their actions, but as an explanation that might make it a less frustrating watch.

I hope that answer wasn’t too overwhelming. I am just incapable of being normal about these webseries and especially about Benedick Hobbes (look, you don’t simply forget the character who got you through your own social anxiety diagnosis, and this is the obsessing-over-fictional-characters website. I talk about other things too, I promise! xD)

For the most part, i think legacy is Okay. It's not the Best, but its nice to see so many people come together to finish off the show. I can respect all the work these guys did, especially tomska.

If you came for my option on the season and thats it you can leave, because the rest of this is me going crazy mode

My only real problems lie with only 2-3 episodes, and it drives me Crazy because they're By Far the most popular, so they've caused the most problems. This one question ended up becoming a giantic essay SORRY im just passionate about ebbworld

The "Obliviously stupid to progress the plot" trope is so bad here. They've seen zombies before how do they not recognize them now. I get them being oblivious to super obvious things is the joke ,but its just not funny

For a Zombie centric episode, there's barely any Fighting. I feel like big fight scenes are what people like most with these. But no we get a 30 second montage, one that's not even animated

The End. Don't even get me started on The End. Legitimately i have never seen such a botched finale in my life. Fair warning this is about to get long and angry im sorry

Let me ask one question: how come in the Finale To Eddsworld Legacy, the season Dedicated to Edd Gould and his work, Edd Himself does not play a prominent role? I'm not even kidding, you could write Edd out completely and Nothing would change. Ive heard people say this was Tomska going out with a bang before leaving the show, but from what i know he also wanted eddsworld to be completely over at The End. If that's true he could have atleast let Edd shoot the harpoon or some shit, come on

This is such a disappointing finale overall. They don't do anything exciting. We just get to watch a little "do you remember this episode?" Montage, all the sudden everything gets crazy then oh! Episodes over goodbye forever.

An end fight might have been more exciting had it been set up properly. They gave us the bare minimum, which was having tords stupid little gang tag appear a few times then having two of his coworkers/soldiers appear a few times. That doesn't hint at a Tord being an evil meglomaniac who's got a giant fucking robot hidden under the house

FUTURE EDD CAME OUT OF NOWHERE AS WELL, AND HE WORKS GREAT BECAUSE HE SETS UP THE LORE IMMEDIATELY. Tords return gave us Nothing beyond "he is manipulating them!!" Instead we get the book dropped on us halfway through the LAST EPISODE OF THE SEASON without ever being given any sort of explanation. That's just it.

ALSO FUCK BRINGING TORD BACK AT ALL. the dude asked to be removed from the show and what did they do? Hinted at his return like 15 times then had him come back as this manipulative mastermind, whos got a bunch of science stuff and a russian accent. At the bare minimum you could have writtten him to atleast resemble something close to Tord. There's literally more evidence that points to him being a clone than there is him being the real Tord, and it WASN'T EVEN INTENTIONAL.

Took a character who had left with all his loose ends tied up, brought him back with completely new unexplained info, then ended the show with both the original and the new loose ends untied. I've read this was Tomska trying to write Tord out of the show for good, but he somehow managed to do the complete opposite by leaving him at a LITERAL cliffhanger. Now all the 12 year olds are @ ing eddsworld begging he comes back for a redemption episode.

I could scream forever about the end but ive already said too much SORRY. This is why im just rewritting it myself to make it good

One last thing: its somewhat heartbreaking to me how Legacy has totally overgrown the classic episodes. Of the top Ten most popular videos on the channel, Seven of them are legacy episodes, with Edds three episodes being at the very bottom of the list

Not particularly. Why you use quotes for 'plagiarist' I'm not sure of, since you admit they plagiarized dialogue. I'd honestly have completely written off the honey as a coincidence if that dialogue line hadn't been stolen, and there are plenty of fics around the fandom and ship I'm fine with even if there are some some similarities like that. But when you add in the stolen dialogue it's a lot more suspicious, especially when the honey elements are happening in the exact same way the last plagiarist took details from my fic.

Maybe it is intense. I don't know. I know I hate having to post about it. I know I hate having to run this gauntlet with my anxiety. I know I'm very careful even when discussing divisive fandom shit to not do anything that might get someone a mob of people sent after them, which is why outside plagiarism stuff I keep my blog pretty drama free. I know I get a sick feeling in my stomach when I wake up, again, to asks in my box and messages from friends telling me they found another fic that's plagiarized my stuff. I know I don't like any of this and all I want to do is write, and yet I'm having to deal with this again. Cause if you've been around my blog and following TRT then you know I've had my stuff plagiarized multiple times, including by a repeat plagiarist who stole not just dialogue and characters but also literal elements of my life (a person who has refused to leave me alone, and also refused to take their stuff down until other people pressured them to). Even before that, TRT has been plagiarized multiple times and I've had to get Wattpad and AO3 involved when my requests for takedown were either ignored or waved off using the exact phrase this last person did - 'I didn't think it was a big deal'. I've never once been able to get anyone to take their stuff down until others got involved. I've also tried leaving it alone, and it always escalates. In the past when I tried to talk privately, I've been repeatedly ignored or had it minimized. I am tired. So yeah, I did the only thing I've found that works when I know there's plagiarism and I don't want it to keep happening or escalating - I asked for pressure without hate comments to get the content to come down, because at this point I've had to do this three times in about three months and I'm kinda at the end of my rope. Because it's not just one line of dialogue, even though that would be enough - even though no amount of plagiarism is ok. But it's also about this time, and the last time, and the time before that, and before and before and before. This is a pattern of people thinking this is ok, thinking it's not a big deal to take unique dialogue or characters or backstories that fic writers are already trying to give everyone for free. And I really, really don't think it's too much to ask that other fic writers respect that.

I literally just want it to stop.

I really do appreciate the restraint. I know I'm missing a lot of stuff that is even pretty well known canon, and I know there are things people want to see in this story because it's a character they love or a plot arc that means a lot to them or-or-or-

The thing is, I very nearly never wrote posted anything in Star Wars at all, because of my concern over canon gatekeeping. Like, not even angry gatekeeping. I was (and still am) intimately aware that there is So Much Content I have never consumed at all, or have only run into via other fics and gif sets and people talking meta or headcanons, and I cannot stress enough how intimidating this was as a person who did not consider themselves a SW fan At All when I first posted fic for this fandom. (I still feel very fringe.)

I know there is a lot of content out there (some of it even good). I know people like talking to me and getting my opinions (weird to me, still, but I think at this point I have to accept it). I know there are probably canon things that if I knew about could bolster my story.

I also know that people have told me things that would completely destroy my premise. That there are things I could add, but would shift the genre, or the character arcs, or wouldn't quite fit with my theme. There are things people have brought up that I have deliberately kicked to the curb because this was always a fanwork, and a critique on canon as I have consumed it. And things that might make this already massive beast explode into the dreaded Incomplete Graveyard.

Don't Look Back is over 450k words long at this point (looked it up to double check and WTF it's over 480k, wtfwtfwtf...). That's about half of the words I have post in entirety on AO3. I love writing it. I love the story.

And I need it to end.

Not today. Not tomorrow. But someday I need to be able to put this fic down and say, this story is done. We did it. We got there. Fin.

And one easy line to draw is, "No canon please."

I'm pretty good at filtering my asks, and I don't really get hate. So I'll leave anon on, and people can make inquiries. I'll try and respond as I have time and energy.

My stance on different proships ships I ship, because like to talk about shipping and I like to write paragraphs of text on tumblr.com.

Also, as someone who used to be in the anti community I still always feel the need to justify why I ship things, which I'm trying to stop doing, but I figured I'd just post this anyway to get it out of my system:

Sebaciel: I used to ship it when I was younger, so they have a soft spot in my heart. With canon I like their relationship more platonically now, but I still like a lot of the fanwork people make for this too. Personally not a fan of explicit sexual stuff with these two but that's just down to my own comfort levels. Also because the show caters to shippers, even if I prefer it platonically its hard to not acknowledge the undertones. I think this a ship like this with twisted elements (child x adult, demon x human, the contract) fits perfectly with the tone of the story though.

Usuk: Honestly, I didn't ship it as a proship when I was younger and I still don't now. These two were my absolute favourite ship in any fandom at the time, but I somehow managed to skip their backstory and didn't realise they had that whole family dynamic thing before, or that America met England as a child. I just ignored their backstory and kept shipping them, and I still do that now.

During my anti era though, I felt bad for shipping them so I ended up making an AU to seperate the version of America that I ship with England and the version of America that I prefer to be England's brother/kid. I called the first America Freddie (like the Fred in Alfred) and the second Al. Also Freddie was a sea monster that could turn into a human and he knew Arthur since they were kids, which I added in purely for fun. Still the wildest thing I've done to justify to myself a ship I like but I'm very fond of Freddie now.

Spamano: Similar to Usuk where I just ignored the backstory, but I didn't have to make an au for these two cause there was already one in the fandom. The 'Romano is sicily' au, thank you to whoever made that it was my lifeline 🙏🏼. Overall I really like this ship, very romantic fanworks and I love both the characters.

Ereri: Same with sebaciel. Shipped it as a kid, don't really ship it now but I still like the fanwork. I still feel like a young fan when I look at both old and even new ereri fanart, it's a classic.

Rankuchi (Ranpo and Fukuchi from bsd): I don't actually know their ship name but this sounded funny. Honestly this is just for fun. Like 'omg he's hooking up with his dad's ex friend 😲?!' Or 'omg he's hooking up with his exes son😲', scandalous. I love the drama.

Fukuran (Ranpo and Fukuzawa from bsd): Not a big fan of them in canon, but I like the concept. I like the brat x daddy vibe, even if in this case one is a literal daddy 😭. Also they really care about eachother, which is obviously because they're like family in canon but for fanon it makes an appealing ship. Also the fan stuff for them is really wholesome too, despite me stating that I like it for the 'brat x daddy' vibe I'm honestly more pulled to the ship for how wholesome the fanwork is.

Hannigram: Very surprising to see a lot of hannigram shippers be antis tbh but whatever. I like how messed up these two are, but I also like them as equals in the sense that they change eachother, maybe even Will gaining some control over Hannibal (although I do love the power dynamic of their agegap too). I've always like ships with themes of Cannibalism or gore as well.

Nikoatsu: so this technically isn't a proship but it feels fitting to put here anyway. Not something I ship too seriously but I saw some content on it and it seemed both very interesting and very silly. I love seeing these two together in any sense tbh so I like the messy layers a ship between them would add.

Atsukyou: They're so cute I'm ngl 😭, not a main of mine but I love seeing the work for them that the shippers make. I'm also yet to actually find a kyouatsu shipper that gives me bad vibes tbh. A lot of them seem to ship it in such a wholesome way and that makes sense considering the type of characters in it.

Kyoulucy: honestly it was the bsd wan that made me ship this. There's a lot of panels of Lucy blushing at Kyouka or finding her cute and I love the trope of 'I accidentally fell for the girl who likes the boy I like'. I think the wan author ships kyouatsu too tbh, there's quite a bit of stuff for that ship in there.

Lawlu: I just realised this technically counts as a proship if you ship it pre-timeskip that's crazy. It's still one of the most popular ships in the fandom too but that's probably because Luffy's 19 now. Another case of a ship being in this post because it 'technically' could fit here but I don't even see it as a proship even pre-timeskip if I'm honest.

Hello, I’ve been really enjoying your podcast and thinking about various incidents that might make for good episode topics and how they could be approached, and since you seem rather receptive to random suggestions, I figured I’d send some in.

The Black Sails vs OFMD tumblr poll, a recent incident where a tumblr poll pitting two pirated against each other caused mountains of drama, a massive unhinged rant from the op of the poll, and a sort of fandom rivalry. Could be useful as a jumping off point to talk about the way comedy and dramas are perceived in fandom spaces and the ethical issues that spring up around media that whitewashes (in the moral sense, but the other definition could play into the discussion too), completely fictionalizes, and glamorizes real historical figures.

More Star Trek stuff than I can recall in one sitting, but Die Seven Die! was a pretty crazy happening, where a bunch of shippers decided to write fanfic of a certain character dying because she got in the way of their ship (she got randomly paired up with a character she didn’t interact with much, and the rumor is it’s because the actor who played him made a joke about it while negotiating his paycheck). The 1982 Con of Wrath, just a classic convention fuck up. And really, just any given thing happening with Spock’s love life at any given time. I know people got extremely nasty regarding the Kelvin Timeline’s Spock/Uhura stuff and more recently with Spock/Chapel.

I think the release date of the first Big Finish audiodrama could make for a good starting point for an episode about the dr who wilderness years, which could focus on the role fan activity can have in rebooting or reviving a dead series. Or, on a crazier note to reach the same point, the release of the music video for Doctor in Distress, which is something I really can’t describe beyond “a compellingly awful charity song made to get Doctor Who back on the air”, and Hans Zimmer was involved in making it.

I’m sure you’ve gotten suggestions for Thanfiction and the Hamilton AIDS incident a thousand times, but how about the time Voltron fans tried to reinvent the concept of original fiction through the lens of fanfiction. As I understand it they were so upset by the ending of the show that they decided to collectively file the serial numbers off of their fandom. Sort of replacing the actual show with a invented goncharov-thing and writing fanfic for the fake fandom they made. Not sure what ultimate point could be derived from that, but it’s sure fascinating from a sociological point of view.

springy and walkie talkie are cobs worker/creation to distract me phone from getting back into season 2 problem he caused. But honesty? knowing the man, He wouldn't go through that such leght. Before you say anything, yes I know Mika is into horror stuff but do you really think this means he's a killer and sucj? Haru: Yeah. Not that I minded at all. I think it's funny, and you know I love playing into it. But, Eden said he felt bad 'cause he felt like he wasn't treating me like a real person when he commented stuff like that online.

Ryu: That's insightful of him.

Haru: He's sensitive like that. I wasn’t mad, and it was really adorable how he was so upset thinking I would be. Not that I wanted him to be upset, but like… it was sweet that he was so concerned about my feelings once he realized.

Ryu: You two are really taking this whole relationship thing seriously, aren’t you?

Haru: I don’t understand why everybody’s so surprised.

Taiji: The real surprise is that you haven’t slept together yet.

Haru: We’re waiting for the right moment.

Taiji: So, you actually took my advice.

Haru: Yeah, and he thanked me for respecting him. We’ve had a couple of steamy video chats, but we’re both trying to be good and like, have boundaries and stuff.

Ryu: That’s commendable, Haru. Maybe you’re capable of maturity after all.

Haru: Let’s not jump to any hasty conclusions.

Taiji: I think the correct response is ‘thank you’, Haru.

Haru: Thank you, Haru.

Taiji: You’re such a dumbass.

Haru: *laughing*

Taiji: Real talk, though. You’re brave, trying to have a relationship with someone outside the industry while you’re still in it.

Haru: What do you mean?

Taiji: I mean, I wouldn’t want to subject anybody I cared about to this life. I can’t imagine a potential girlfriend of mine going from being relatively anonymous to being shoved into this situation with like, freakin' maniacal fans coming up with all kinds of wild shit, the media watching and analyzing literally everything, and virtually no privacy whatsoever.

Ryu: That's a good point. Haru, you should probably talk with Eden about that before things get any more serious between you. He should know what he’s in for if he decides to stay with you.

Haru: What do you mean, if? You think he’d leave me over that?

Taiji: I would, if it were me. Personally, if I’d known about this madness, I’d have gone with my original plan and I’d be in university right now, studying to be a music teacher. Maybe have a low key solo career or do some composing on the side. I could still be doing what I love, but with the added bonus of people actually taking me seriously.

Haru: You don't know Eden. He’s not like you.

Taiji: Just wait until the shippers get hold of him and start writing him into their dodgy little sex scenes and hurt-comfort plots or whatever. We’ll see if he lasts after that.

Haru: Okay, first of all, can you not say my boyfriend’s name in the same breath as ‘dodgy sex scene’? It's gross. Eden is a gentleman, and all his sex scenes would be classy. And second…

Taiji: Yeah?

Haru: No… actually, never mind. I guess you do have a point. I never considered that stuff because I was too caught up in being happy that somebody likes me for me, and not because I’m famous. But, I guess bring famous could wreck it.

Taiji: Might as well get used to being alone.

Haru: Oh.

Ryu: Taiji, that’s not very kind.

Taiji: Just telling it as I see it.

Ryu: Brutal honesty isn’t always the best approach. I think we already told you that tonight. Haru, as for you and Eden, I really do think the best thing to do is explain everything to him and let him decide for himself. If he decides to stay, he needs to be prepared.

Haru: Yeah. That's going to be a hard conversation, though. And what if the fame is a deal-breaker for him?

Ryu: Hopefully it won't be, but if it is, we'll help you get through the aftermath.

Taiji: Yeah. We still love you.

Haru: Sometimes it's hard to tell.

Taiji: Sorry. Does this make you feel better? A little affection?

Haru: Uhh... no.

Taiji: What? Why not?

Haru: 'Cause I know you're just here to fall asleep on me.

Taiji: Because you're softer. Ryu is too muscly.

Haru: I need new friends.

Ryu: Why don't the two of you go to your room and get in your beds? Both of you look like you're ready to fall asleep.

Haru: I'd rather stay here for a while. I'd just get in bed and worry about stuff and not sleep anyway.

Taiji: Me too.

Ryu: Is there anything else you need to talk about?

Haru: Truthfully, I think I'd rather be distracted from my problems right now.

Taiji: Same.

Haru: Ryu, maybe you can tell us about your love life. Since I spilled about mine, it's only fair.

Ryu: I don't have a love life.

Taiji: I think Ji-Soo might be annoyed to hear you say that.

Haru: Did you work up the nerve to tell her how you feel yet?

Ryu: I decided I'm not going to.

Haru: Why not?

Ryu: Because she'd get fired if we started anything. Unlike you and Eden, we have that pesky little dilemma of a conflict of interest.

Haru: I don't know what's worse, caring about somebody you might lose because of your work, or finding the perfect person but not even being able to get with them because of your work. This whole thing sucks, if you really wanna know.

Taiji: Maybe you should just do like I do, and avoid the idea of relationships altogether.

Ryu: Easier said than done.

Taiji: Dude, this job is hard enough without complicating it like that. It's already enough to make a person want to run away. Who'd want to make it worse by adding a partner whose expectations you'd have to manage along with managing everything else?

Haru: 'Speak for yourself. I personally can't wait till Eden and I get to a place where we start having expectations about our relationship. You know, if we make it that far.

Ryu: Try to think positively, Haru. He may turn out to love fame as much as you do and not have any issues with all the attention. You might have a long and happy partnership.

Haru: I'm guessing I probably shouldn't hold my breath just yet, but I really hope you're right.
