hate to say it, but part of ending the stigma around sexual assault means not assuming every woman blames herself. yes, female socialization encourages it, but that doesn’t make it a given, and the goal of all of these campaigns is to eventually diminish the proportion of women who do blame themselves. it is entirely possible, and increasingly common, for women to experience sexual assault and not feel shame or guilt, which we should be happy about. but instead, there are only so many times you can hear “you know it’s not your fault, right?” before it sounds like “it was your fault”. and there’s only so many times you can hear “don’t blame yourself” before it sounds like “you should blame yourself”. because it feels good to say, doesn’t it? sure, you don’t believe she’s guilty, but you do believe she should feel guilty, so that you can disabuse her of the notion. just something to consider.

i feel like some people forget that not everyone actually can help/engage with issues going on in the world. its great to encourage doing it when people are able to, but its not an obligation everyone needs to abide by or theyre a terrible person.
a lot of people have their own issues, and dont even have the energy to expend for activism. not everyone is well off enough to even be taking care of their own life properly. guilt tripping just causes more undue stress for those already suffering.

waking up in a cabin deep in a remote pine forest as the sun is going down. or coming up? you can't tell yet. suppose that's less important when you remember this world has no pine forests, or a sun to rise and set.
instead, this world has no sky at all. instead, this world has stale air and monsters. instead, this world has a man you've only heard rumors of. suppose the rumors are true, and that man has a cabin. and that cabin doesn't smell quite right.
but when has anything ever smelled right down here

OG Choi Han they could never make me hate you cause if some random rich boy was yelling at me and telling me my family deserved to die like a day after it happened and all I wanted was to know how I could get help I’d beat him up too
This plus the added fact that the Harris Village people were the first people to take Choi Han in and take care of him after years and years in the dark forest. Like he’s obviously not going to be mentally stable after all that, and he was so young when everything happened to him like I cannot blame him at all. I don’t think I can ever hate OG Choi Han like ever, he’s flawed, he has problems, but I love him dearly. He deserves the world. This kid who had to fight for his life, was taken away from his family, and in the process had to give up parts of his own humanity to survive, and like went to war two years later, they could never make me hate u OG Choi Han…
Like yeah violence is bad I guess but OG Cale had it coming(saying this as an OG Cale fan, I love him, but he was mean as hell when he was younger!)
If I’m honest, I think they were both in the wrong to an extent. Like OG Cale shouldn’t have said all that no matter the circumstances, and OG Choi Han shouldn’t have beaten him up so much. But u say mean shit and you get hit, that is how it will work when you’re talking to the guy who just saw his entire village get murdered like idkkkk man
I understand where OG Cale was coming from, but he had many issues and while he wasn’t an awful person, he was capable of doing bad things because of his own internalized pain and emotions that he never got to properly process because of his emotionally distant childhood and relationship with his father who should have been there for him more when he was younger.
Okay speaking of his childhood, Deruth isn’t the WORST father in the world but there are a lot of things he could have done better. I think a lot of Deruth’s flaws come from his fear of failure and messing up. He’s scared of doing the wrong thing, and so he sticks to doing what he knows and using what he knows best. That’s why he uses his money, that’s why gift giving is his way of showing affection, he knows that it is one thing he cannot mess up.
The problem is that money and gifts is NOT what OG Cale needed. I think what that guy needed the most was a parent who wasn’t afraid to talk to him, to ask him questions. Not to say that Deruth gave up on OG Cale, but I think in a way he gave up on OG Cale by giving up on himself. Deruth didn’t trust himself to have the capabilities to talk to OG Cale, which is why he never did. It’s because that Deruth was scared, and didn’t trust himself, that he could never face OG Cale
If Deruth was able to trust himself a little more, and pull himself together, I don’t think OG Cale would have turned out the way he did. As a kid, he probably thought the only way he could help his family without relying on anyone(no doubt this whole ‘I have to do it myself’ thing came from the fact that he couldn’t rely on his father when his mom died, and instead was acting as a pillar of support for his father when it should have been the other way around) was to sabotage himself, the only heir. If he was shown to be unfit to be heir, then everyone else would have no choice but to direct their hatred towards him instead of his family.
If Deruth had talked to his son at least ONCE when he was a kid, asking him why he was upset or why he did the things he did, I think OG Cale would have told him. Why? Because he’s a kid!! A kid will obviously want to rely on his father, if he just had one sign telling him that he didn’t have to do it alone I’m 90% sure OG Cale would have said something.
Basically, while Deruth isn’t the worst father, he’s not really a great father either. I think he does do his best, but he has issues with communication lol
OG Cale and OG Choi Han are both complex characters and had their own reasons to behave the way they did. The thing is with people is that they’re complicated and have layers, so the situation with them would have layers behind it as well with multiple co-existing truths and stuff

I like your thoughts about the children in the cheating AU.
As a child I wished that my parents would divorce. Even as an adult I wished for it because I always thought my mother was so unhappy. Now that something happened to my father I realized I never really knew the feelings of my mother. I only have my own view and feelings.
It would be interesting to know if the children ever really talked with their parents over this fucked-up situation before they came up with their own thoughts and feelings.
I think they have to eventually but it’s definitely not the first reaction for them because the scale of the wrong that obi-wan and anakin did to Padmé is absolutely startling. Not only did the affair last for years, but it was probably some sort of scandalous news story too. Come on, two senators get divorced around the same time and then one of those senators starts openly dating the other senator’s ex husband? And there are children involved? Scandalous!!
I don’t think it’s galactic level news that the new kenobi Skywalkers never escape, but I’m sure the trashy gossip magazines are there when the twins are old enough to look for themselves and see it
and then the whole truth also involves that obi-wan really did worm his way into the twins’ lives like a third parental figure and the twins didn’t know any better than to accept him eagerly and now they have to deal with the realization that they must have hurt their mother…a lot…without even knowing it. and maybe it’s not rational but I bet they feel really guilty about that
so I think in the case of the cheating au, the twins finding out about the past affair and how shit it was and how much it fucked over their mom isn’t something that leaves room for talking with obiwan and anakin before reacting. I can imagine one twin being like “well maybe we should hear their side” and the other going “fuck that, look at what they did look at all the evidence there is no side that makes this better” and the first twin being like…..ok you’re right ….
but I don’t think it ruins their relationship with their fathers forever!! And that eventually they do talk to them and they do hear them out and they see how devastated obi-wan is feeling at the idea of losing them and how guilty anakin still feels and it gets marginally better
it’s just the scale of wrong doing and destruction and betrayal in the cheating au…it’s so much I dont think anyone could be rational about it before reacting in emotion if they truly love every party involved

So unfortunately I don’t know the specifics to Shazam’s backstory so there’s probably someone who can do this better. Regardless, picture this.
The ghost king and The Champion of Magic are meeting. The last time this happened, many centuries ago, wars broke out. The power struggle was maintained over generations and the loss was insurmountable
The realms watch on in fear. They know nothing good can come of this, as two beings with as much power is had simply cannot coexist.
King Phantom approaches the Champion and is met head on with resistance. The two share a look of each other, conversing in a language that can’t be heard.
Looking into what’s happening between the two, there’s an understanding. Whether it be in how they hold themself, the glint in their eyes, or an instinct only shared by those in company, They Know. The two godlike beings understand that the other is merely acting. That is being so vastly different, they are more alike than anyone else.
The meeting adjourned with no bloodshed and a collective sigh of relief was heard. Danny and Billy found each other after the fact, and after dropping the respective masks, forged a friendship that would haunt any hero over the age of 18. The world anticipated a war, they didn’t understand the kind they’d get.
