3 - The witch he needs
Tumblr media
Part 4
Princess more than a Nickname
@the-big-bad-klaus @alanaangie24
Caroline's POV
"He seriously called you for a favor. How twisted of a crazy psycho is he!" I blurted out sitting on Bonnie's bed in her room. She texted me to come over right away and didn't involve Elena because she was already stressed about this whole sacrifice thing Klaus has planned. She pulled out a witch book of spells and a notebook throwing it into a bag ready to leave. "Yeah it was weird Care, but maybe if we help him he won't try and kill our friend." Getting to my feet I tilt my head to the side not believing that's in his nature. "You really believe that, Bon?" She shakes her head no heading to my car where we drove to his mansion. "No I don't but that's why you're coming. As my vampire back up just in case."
Bonnie goes inside first with me following behind her where we immediately see Klaus standing at the bottom of the stairs. "Caroline, Bennett witch so glad you could come assist." He spoke smiling my direction making me roll my eyes. "What do you want, Klaus?" He crossed his arms over his chest looking to her. He tilts his head up towards the stairs and we followed him into a bedroom. Bonnie immediately noticed a open coffin to which she walked up asking. "Who is this girl?" I vamp up beside my friend whipping my head around to him with a growl. "Is this one of your victims!" He bawls his hands into fists stomping up in my face and I glare up at him. "For your information, love. She willingly chose to be with me. But if you'd like to be a victim I can surely arrange that!" Bonnie stomped in between us holding her hands up before this gets out of hand. "If I help you can't hurt the people I love. Now tell me about what happened to this girl...what's her name?" Klaus sighs dropping his shoulders simply replying. "Y/n, she used to be a princess."
Y/n's POV
"Nik stop. Stop it, I've already had my portrait done." I squealed trying to knock his scretchbook from his hands as we sit under a tree with fall leaves of orange and red by a small river. He smiled still moving the quill drawing me. "That artist completely failed to capture your beauty, love. But rest assured I'll do a much better job." I rest my back against the tree with my hair loose with two small braids on the side. Wearing a light blue dress and some boots underneath. I hate wearing pinchy shoes so I prefer to wear these. "If you love to draw so much why aren't you an artist?" I asked with a smile watching him stare at me with his legs crossed as he drew.
He bites his lip mumbling out a half mysterious answer. "My parents, specifically my father and I don't get along well. He threw me out." Normally I don't want to pry into his mind but I sense that he's hiding stuff from me. When I find the person I want to be with for the rest of my life. I don't want any secrets, no matter how bad. "Does he give you nightmares. Like Brooke she has nightmares about these people my grandmother calls Night Walkers?" Nik whipped his head up at my question not answering but just staring at me. "Sometimes he does. But I'm more curious about these...Night Walkers did you say?" I nod turning to face him straight on. "To me it seems like an old wives tale. Because if these creatures that have fangs and drink blood do exist that's possibly incredible."
Nik just parts his lips reaching forward intertwining my right hand with his. "Would you meet me here tonight under the stars. There's something I want to show you?" Without hesitation I smiled. Later that afternoon as Brooke and I are sitting in my room my chambers door gets opened by my grandmother rushing her out. "Brooke, I need to speak with my granddaughter alone for a moment." She curtsys leaving the room as she pulled out a silver bracelet. She clips it onto my right wrist with a warning look written on her face. "This will protect you from those creatures as you sleep. You're mother may think I'm crazy but she refuses to tell you the truth of your powers. So this shall protect you." I nod my head still very confused at her words. I would never tell my grandmother that I didn't fear the rumors that creatures such as vampires do exist. They didn't necessarily need to be feared.
Klaus's POV
"So have you figured out how to wake her yet, Bonnie?" I asked leaning in the doorway as the witch sat on the floor reading my mother's grimore in front of her. It's been 500 years since we've been apart and I'm losing my patience. The night those witches preformed the ceremony Elijah managed to get information from them while I wanted to set the whole castle on fire. "No I haven't and you hovering isn't helping." I roll my eyes knowing Caroline is downstairs lisening from the kitchen. She needed a blood bag and we had plenty. Bonnie gets to her feet resting her hands on the side of Y/n's open coffin making the room fill with silence. The witch placed her hand over one of hers suddenly gasping and spinning on her feet to face me. "Did you spell her after she died?" Stepping closer to her shoving my hands in my pockets I shake my head confused. "No she already had vampire blood in her system. Why do you ask?" She grabbed my hand laying it over Y/n's right hand slowly mumbled still in disbelief. "I can't explain it - it's impossible in the nature - but she still has magic running through her veins. I swear I can feel it."
Comments really appreciated ❤️

Here is part 2! Tbh I want to see more about Natsu's and Rei's reaction, and of course what is going to happen with Dabi, so enjoy the cliffhanger 👀 let me know if you'd like to be tagged!
Part 1
Rencounter [Part 2/?]
Two weeks ago
"Dabi?'' You said in surprise as you opened the door and he stepped into your apartment, ''I thought you were not coming until next week''
''We need to talk, y/n'' He said, not even looking at you. You walked towards him once the door was closed.
''Is everything all right?'' When you were facing him, you lifted a hand to caress his cheek but he abruptly pulled away.
''Stop that, for fuck's sake. Stop that.'' Your jaw dropped slightly, he was usually rough but that rough?
''Stop what?'' You asked in disbelief, moving your hand to its previous position.
''All of this, us'' You noticed how he clenched his jaw and then his blue eyes were right over yours ''This needs to be over, y'hear me?''
''What?'' You asked with a smile, a smile that was there because you thought he was joking, but when he didn't laugh you knew he was not faking it ''You're kidding, right?''
''I'm not kidding. This? You and I? Can't keep happening anymore. And thank me I came all the way here and not just fucking disappear from your life from one day to another.''
''I can't believe this, Dabi. Why? Yesterday you texted me, things were fine and I-'' He cut you off, not even paying attention to the tears in your eyes, or the confusion and pain in your voice.
''I was not made for this, I can't just be here and play the happy little couple with you. So fuck all of this.'' He turned over and started walking to the door again ''Sorry for making you waste your time'' And right then, getting out of the frozen state you grabbed his wrist, making him look at you over his shoulder.
''You're not leaving until you give me a reason,'' Holding back the tears, you spoke ''What the hell? Yesterday you sent me a text telling me that you loved me, that you cared about me and now this?''
''Can't you fucking see it, then?'' He scoffed, turning around again ''I care about you more than I should, y/n. And the only thing I'm doing is dragging you down with me, it is better if I leave.''
''We... We had this type of conversation before, and I already told you that-''
''Told me what? That you'll stay with me until the end? My end is near, and if I don't go to jail I'll die and drag everyone down with me.'' He raised his voice. ''Get away from me, move on. Get a fucking life, one that's better than the shit I give you''
''You don't give me shit, Dabi. I love you, everything about you and how you are when you're with me'' It was impossible to hold back the tears that were escaping from your eyes at that point.
''You think I haven't noticed? How you look at couples in the street? Or the way you smile at the screen when you see your friends sharing their damn life, getting engaged, having kids, moving together. I can't even take you out for a fucking coffee'' He snapped.
''I never asked you any of that! I smile because I'm happy for them, not because I want their lives!'' You snapped to. Why was it so hard for him to understand? ''I'm not planning getting married, either having kids. I don't want the world to know, I give a fuck about posting pictures and stories on Instagram, I just want to enjoy my time with you!''
''You're not enjoying it! You are worried all the fucking time, let me go! Forget about me, get you someone who gives you what you deserve!'' If he could cry, tears would be running down his cheeks as well. ''I'm broken, I'm cursed. I look like a fucking zombie, y/n. Get the fuck away from me before we both go down.'' Dabi said in between his teeth as he hit the table with his fist.
''Listen, I know you. I know you're not a role model, I know you've killed people and done even worse. I'm not romanticizing those actions, they're wrong as fuck but guess what, this society is wrong too. All that Enji did to you? How some actions are done by heroes are hidden? All the pain you went through? All of this is fucked up. But guess what, I fell for you, for the one I knew under all of that pain'' You almost yelled, feeling your eyes burning because of the tears and your heart racing.
''Oh you do? Sorry to break it up to you, but I'm nothing but a monster, a villain who doesn't regret his actions, and will not regret them.''
''The monster that tells me how much he loves me when he thinks I fell asleep? Or the one that plays with my hair when I'm sad?'' Dabi was silent ''Is that the monster you're talking about?''
''Y/n...'' Dabi denied ''You're not getting this. I might hurt you, and I don't want that.''
''You won't. I'm a grown woman, I know where I am standing, and I want to keep standing by your side. ''And I also know you might die soon, so please, don't push me away. Not now'' This time your voice was low, your chin trembling. You felt how his hand pulled you from your nape, making your forehead rest against his. It was his gesture, the one he used to do when he wanted to say he loved you but he couldn't, the one when thanked you for anything, or the one when he wanted just to be close to you but was too ashamed to ask.
''Are you sure about this?'' He whispered ''Are you sure you want to burn with me?'' Dabi's eyes were closed, clenching his teeth as he resisted the urge to kiss you and hold you in his arms.
''Today, tomorrow, and always'' You whispered back, caressing his cheek with your thumb as you sobbed.
............................................
Present time
Crickets and the sound of leaves against branches were the only sound filling the room, that and two lovers' breathing. You used one finger to trace Dabi's chest, drawing imaginary figures on his chest. The side of your body was holding your weight as you kept looking at him under the blueish light. Once you got tired, you pressed a soft kiss on his shoulder and lay down by his side, one hand on his abdomen and your face nuzzled against his neck.
''So you were really willing to burn with me'' He said suddenly, a raspy and tired voice.
''I told you I was'' You said, and then lifted your eyes at him ''How are you feeling?''
''Like shit'' He said, and then looked at the door ''y/n,'' he said in a low voice, still looking at the door ''Are they here?''
''Yes, they are.'' You said softly, having no idea how to approach that topic.
''What a lovely family meeting'' He chuckled and then coughed. ''This is so fucked up'' Dabi said again, moving his head to the side so it could rest on your temple.
''How can you still be an idiot even in this state?'' you said a little amused
''It is just who I am, doll. Can't help it y'know'' you felt a bit coldness in the hand that was on his abdomen, and it were the staples he had on his hand when he grabbed yours and squeezed it tightly.
Meanwhile, outside the room was someone watching every move. Her eyes were filled with tears, should she run over the man laying there or should she just wait? Rei thought that the second option suited best. His first son, the one who was wounded as much as physically and mentally looked in peace while laying next to the woman he loved. She had waited over years, a few hours more were fine. But what was Rei supposed to say to him? Was he going to hate her? Hate Natsu? Dabi was unpredictable, and his reaction had her worried. Maybe she was better at the hospital, isolated from all of that, but she already left her son on his own once, and now she had the chance to at least say sorry.
An hour passed, and you could tell Dabi was asleep again because of the rhythm of his chest, rising and falling slowly. His mouth was slightly open and his traits looked more relaxed. You left a kiss on his cheek before getting up, making your way towards the kitchen. Rei was standing in front of the window with a blanket over her shoulders, but she looked at you when your footsteps were louder.
''Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt'' You said with a small smile.
''You didn't'' She replied, looking calmer than you expected ''Is Tou-''She cut herself ''Is he okay?''
''Yes, he's sleeping right now. But tomorrow he'll be better, I think'' You smiled at her. It was hard to find the words, but just when you were about to say something, a male voice interrupted.
''Mother?'' Natsu asked, rubbing his eye with the side of his hand. ''Is everything ok?''
''Yeah, we were just speaking'' Rei said.
''Oh, I'm y/n by the way.'' You said looking at the two of them ''It is not the best way to meet but, here we are'' you shrugged your shoulders. ''I... I need to go to the village tomorrow to get some things, so... You can stay with him in the morning and, you know. I don't want to interrupt you'' you knew his story, and they had a lot to talk about.
''Maybe it is better if you're here. I haven't seen much but you're important to him, so probably he'll feel better if you're here''
The truth behind his words and Rei's agreement on Natsu's statement was that they were not sure what to do or how to act with him on their own.  When Dabi was having hallucinations earlier, he recognized you. Rei saw you and him laying together, and she heard that tiny piece of conversation that told her you were important to him, someone he cared about. After saying that you were going to try and arrive earlier tomorrow so you can be there once Dabi's was awake, you gave them a smile so you could return to the room you were sharing with Dabi.
You lay back down, and you could felt how he moved and held you by the waist, pressing his chest against your torso, forehead against forehead as his hand was on your nape, using his thumb to caress the zone.
''Dabi! You're hurt, lay how you were'' You said worried, not even moving.
''I've been worse. Now shut up and just stay here'' Dabi mumbled, his scent and breathing close so close to you making you feel at home.
''Fine, you whining kid'' you laughed and heard him let out a low chuckle ''Do you need anything before I fall asleep?'' You asked, moving your fingers on his chest.
''A can of beer, maybe. Or you going down on me. Maybe you going down on my as I drink beer, that shit would be nice'' He said with a smile, making you laugh again.
''I'm serious, Dabi. Water? something for the pain?'' You asked again.
''I'm fine, dollface. Just keep your ass here by my side and don't go''
''Guess I could do that''
''You better''
You knew it. The way he held you, his snarky comments to avoid an answer, his hand on your nape, and silence. He was not Ok, he needed you there because he didn't know how to handle things at that point. His mother and brother were there, he saw them for brief seconds but it felt weird. His hate was against Endeavor, even against Shoto, but his mom? She was just another victim, and Natsu? He was there to hear him, to be a kind of support for him, how could he give them the same treatment as Endeavor? Those questions were screaming inside his head, and as they were becoming louder, the tighter he was holding you against his body.
Time kept moving, and before any of you could notice,
Morning came.

Not Just a Monster
Warning: blood, violence, death
27: Realization of the true enemy
It's has been a while since I had locked myself up in the quarantine room. Laying down on the mattress. I tried to ignore the huge Puddle of thick blood that was on the floor.
I know I was supposed to be strong but it was completely hard. By having —well the relationship was complicated we didn't Officially Announce we were together but now we never will because Hyun-Su doesn't feel the same way back.
I knew it was all because of that one boy, getting inside Head. I mean Hyun-Su didn't even let me explain and he rather listens to a boy he Barely knows and pushes me aside from the one who has helped him through thick and thin here and it doesn't mean anything over one little thing.
It was hard for me to, and I'm glad the others understood but I thought at least Hyun-Su would have I guess I should have gotten to know him better before jumping into things. I guess I was so Transfixed on feeling bad for him and knowing he was just like me. I didn't get to see this stubborn side of him.
Maybe the reasons why he is-is because of things that happened in his past but that doesn't mean everyone witnesses like that I guess he has major trust issues. It sure seems like it. When you're alone you have a lot to think about.
Maybe I had too much to think about sitting up, I saw a brown leather cover laying on top of a table. Did it seem to be oddly familiar? Maybe this will calm down my consuming thoughts. Dragging myself over to it I carefully picked it up and opened it.
For some reason, I skipped over the first page and went on to the others. It looked like a filed Journal of monsters Someone drew. They were really good. As I continued to search through this thing something fell out on my lap. Picking it up my eyes went wide.
It was a picture. But not just any pictures it was of me and three other people. A woman, a man, and an older boy that looked to be in his early twenties. They were all smiling being happy. I didn't understand was this, my family?
If so why is it in this journal? For some reason, I flipped back to the first page. And almost dropped the book. It was a drawling of them but they were all dead. Why was that even there? Were they killed? Was it by a human or a monster?
It had no writing just gruesome drawings. This helps me know what my family looked like but this doesn't give me any Perspective of who killed them? Something told me it was me in the back of my head but I quickly pushed that aside that was nearly impossible I wouldn't ever try and hurt someone like that.
Or even if I did I would go insane but while trying to stay sane. Because I don't know if I'll be able to handle that? Sliding the picture back in the book I closed it putting it back where it belongs even though it was mine I didn't want to look at it as a reminder that my family was gone.
Yes I should take it with me but I don't remember them and how can I miss them if I don't remember? No memory of any birthdays, family dinners or just watching tv together on Saturday nights?
I had to leave it for now maybe I'll remember one day. I for sure hope so because it was all fuzzy like a screen that has gone static. Getting up I began to search for a bag and start packing things for when I leave tonight.
I won't say anything I'll go anonymously. So no one will have to worry or question why I'm leaving it was for everyone's good. They don't need me like I said I just cause trouble. Heading out of the room. I was about to go to the small convenience store that had almost everything to flashlights, ropes, and first-aid kits.
But stopped when I saw Sang-Wook with Yu-Ri on his back as they passed me. Something was wrong as I heard her wheezing terribly. She must have run out of an inhaler. She could smother to death from lack of oxygen.
( Y'all, I have Severe asthma, and let me tell you it sucks when you don't have an inhaler anyone else? )
I began to follow him, even though I was leaving that still didn't mean I didn't care them I wanted to help. " how long has she been like this and without an inhaler?!" I shouted, Sang-Wook grunted, as he heaved her up as I could tell she was about to fall.
" she just had run out and for a while here!" I nodded the closest Drugstore wasn't far from here. He hand-thrown the keys to me. As we neared the entrance I felt a hard blow that made me go flying back. There were three loud thuds. As I landed on the side of my rib cage.
I cringed, gritting my teeth I could hear Yu-ri Coughing trying her best to breathe. As she sucked in the air, I half-way walked and crawled over to her but was kicked down. I hand gripped the keys in my hand, it was no surprise who I saw looking up.
It was him.
He had stepped on my wrist, bending down he grabbed the set of keys from me. " going somewhere?" He shook the keys in his grasp laughing a bit with a smirk plastered on his face. This little bitch?!
" give them back!" I spit, trying to get up he placed his foot on my chest stepping down on it. Making it hard for me to breathe too. " what's going on?" I heard someone say. The person who walked in it was Hyun-Su I didn't expect a reaction from him.
But when he looked down his eyes widened a bit. He glanced up at his 'friend' questionably? The boy raised his hand up Jingling the keys. " They were trying to leave." Why does he even care? " so?" I pushed his foot off me with all the strength I had.
Getting up, " why does it matter to you!" I began but was Interrupted. " it doesn't matter." Hyun-Su looked at me, I frowned. " if they report us, the soldiers will come." He said Plainly, was this that was all about?
I shook my head. " oh, yeah I would go and risk reporting us?!" I fired back, poking my finger in his chest. I hated this guy. I was so close to wanting to beat the crap out of him he's causing nothing but chaos around here.
" then why are you trying to leave?"
I stopped there for a minute Hyun-Su was the one questioning me now. I balled up my fist. " because there's someone that requires medical attention." I was so angry I began to cry. The last words of my sentence broke. As I blinked a few tears away.
I saw Sang-Wook from the corner of my eye picking up Yu-Ri. I motioned over towards her. " if you cared Hyun-Su you would stop letting this guy get in your head and see who the real problem is because it's not us yes things were difficult for you but did you ever think it was hard for me too?"
I couldn't control my tears anymore they came rushing down it was true it was hard for me but he didn't acknowledge that I was going through a hard time too. I didn't care if I was showing my Vulnerable side it showed that I still had a human heart.
I still had sympathy, I couldn't tell what emotion was going through Hyun-Su's eyes it was hard to read but he snatched the keys from the boy handing them to me. I quickly took them silently thanking him which didn't mean anything.
" Let them go, it's up to her now."
I was the last thing Hyun-Su said before we three made our way to the large opening that was caused by the tank. Sang-Wook began to run along with me to his side. She had to make it. But little did I know things don't turn out the way you want them to.
There was a loud bang that shot throughout the air. I turned my head to see a bullet flying through the air hitting Yu-Ri in the back. The impact of it made her let go of Sang-Wook.
I let out an Ear-piercing scream, seeing her blood splatter out from her back. I began to ran. They both were tipping over but that was good. I pushed them out of the way where the bullets wouldn't hit them anymore. They fell to the ground, " Go! I'll cover you!!!" I yelled. Sang-Wook got up and held on to Yu-ri tightly and began to run.
I heard the sound of more bullets being fired but this time I was the one getting hit in every direction. My body Flung back and forth. It was better for me than them. I hope they were going to be okay.
But soon there was another scream, it wasn't me this time but it sounded more like a boy. The bullets stopped flying, as I fell to the ground on my knees. Everything hurt. As I saw blood seeping in throughout my clothes small holes could be seen through them and my skin.
But I knew I would be okay. Looking up I saw Hyun-Su, he was running towards that boy. I could see his face was twisted in terror as his cries were let out loud. I checked behind me to see. Sang-Wook was lay down on the ground and Yu-Ri was laying her back on the dashboard limbs falling aimlessly.
No!
I was too late they were hit. I began to cry again, I wanted to go over and help them but Sang-Wook motioned me to go and help the others. As there were a loud crash and more screams and gunshots. I turned away running towards the action that was unfolding.
There he was standing in the middle of the room. Holding out a gun shooting people for the fun of it. I blocked there his shots so more people could get to safety. Most of them did. As more of the group came and got Byeong-II he was shot through the back of the chest.
" You never stop trying to get in my way!" I turned and saw his eyes going black. " so I'm just going to have to kill you myself since the first time didn't do the job!" He seethed, as his other arm shot out his hand gripped around my neck pulling me up in the air.
I could feel his fingers tightening Pressing down on my Windpipe. I struggled to breathe choking on my Saliva and air. I grasped his hand trying to make him loosen up but it wouldn't. My feet dangled in the air. I could feel my face turning red from the lack of oxygen.
I tasted blood, as I began to spite it up. More gunshots were fired. As I saw them hit his face but they Protruded out of his skin healing up as nothing had happened. My eye vision was going blurry again until I saw someone from the corner of my eye running towards us.
The person slammed into the boy that was trying to kill me. Both of their bodies flew to the side. As he let go of my neck I fell to the ground hard. Coughing like a fish out of water trying to catch my breath. It was Hyun-Su that tackled him they crashed into a room.
Wood, dust, glass went flying everywhere, I ducked. Hearing groaning, I stepped up about to go and help Hyun-Su but he was thrown out of the glassless window. He went sliding on the ground hitting the wall. Grunting, in pain Running over to him.
I bent down, " Hyun-Su! Are you okay?" I asked worriedly. He looked up and regret was filled in his dark browns. I pulled my hand up under his arm and around his back trying to help him up. I turned my face if was towards him. We were very close. Feeling his hot breath fanning mine as he breathed hard.
" Soo-Nico I'm—" but he was Interrupted by that one boy. He didn't get to finish what he was going to say. I held on to Hyun-Su tightly. " I should've known you were sulking after killing that woman!" I could see his footsteps inching close to us. He grabbed me by my face pulling me up.
" And you trying to defend him for it!!" That's when he threw me up against the wall my back colliding with the glass mirror. I could hear it shattering against my skin as the Ragged blades cut into me. " you both are the weak ones!!" He pushed me harder into the glass. I sucked in a sharp breath.
He then let go was I dropped to the ground next he went over to Hyun-Su. " do you want to know something funny? Let me tell you the truth." He grabbed Hyun-Su face now. That was mixed in with anger towards the boy who he thought he trusted. His jaw was clenched as he bared his teeth.
" you didn't kill anyone."
Hyun-Su face quickly switched into confusion, face lighting a bit in disbelief. The boy then hit him and his hand turned into a sharp spear and jabbed it through Hyun-Su's stomach pushing him up against the wall. I could hear him groaning and grunting in pain.
" because that woman was me." The boy smiled Sinisterly laughing. Like he was having a flashback of what had happened. His eyes were Shown through the broken mirror as his face repeated by it his black eyes the dominant view as he laughed crazily.
He then pulled the spear-like thing out of Hyun-Su as he fell to the ground. I was in pain as I watched the mirror fall on him. His face had so much mixed emotions I couldn't tell what will happen. His fist balled up as the boy started to talk again.
" Nobody can leave!"
He shot at the car as gas leaked out from it. Creating sparks that reached the gas as it soon caught on fire sending the place in a blaze. He had cut the swinging chandelier as his hood up he walked over towards Hyun-Su but his hand soon shot out from underneath the mirror all covered in blood, sweat and dirt.
His fingers and arm twitch and began to bending on all different types of ways as more spear-like things Poked out of his skin. Sliding up with blood covering them. I watched him in horror as he began to transform.

Joji x Reader {female reader} Apocalyptic Setting <Part One>
Tumblr media
The sound of your closest friends baby jolts you awake. You had fallen asleep sitting up in a chair near the window. You stand and stretch for a moment before walking into the kitchen. Jessica meets you at the doorway to the kitchen.
"We're officially out of food." She bounces her daughter on her knee.
"Alright, I'll grab Ashlee and we can hit that up this place we noticed coming back from our last haul. It looked like a department store or something. I have an extra cheese stick in my bag if Jade is hungry."
Jessica knods and sighs. You knew saving that cheese stick was a good call. After grabbing the snack for Jade you head to the garage where Ashlee was working on the truck we scored a few months ago. Ashlee notices you enter and slams her hand on the top. "We still need some gas for this bad boy!"
"No time like the present to go look for some?!" You add expecting a negative response.
Ashlees face turned sour. "We're out of food."
"Yep. You going."
"Well of course, but we just went on a trip 3 days ago. Those rations were supposed to last a week. Jess eats like a fucking pig." Ashlee starts throwing her gloves off onto the desk and prepares a bag for the emergency food trip we are underprepared for in all honesty.
"How much ammo do we have left?"
Ashlee sighs heavily "We were low last trip. We might have 5 or 6 shells left for the shotgun."
"And the handgun?" You interject.
"Fifteen." Ashlee finishes packing up leaving the shotgun for me to take. "I'm gonna take a smoke break. Meet me out front when your ready to roll." She puts the cigarette in her mouth and walks out.
Grabbing the gun you quickly head for your room to gather the essentials. Outside Ashlee was taking the last drag off her cigarette before flicking it to the road. I stare at the bikes in front of us wishing we had gas for the truck. "Jesus christ I hate these bikes, I'm wore out by the time we get to wherever we're going." Ashlee smiles. "Soon Y/N" Ashlee closes her eyes and daydreams for a moment. Imagining life with a car again.
About halfway there we stop and scout a bit. Make sure no one is out and about before we pull closer into this town.
Right on the edge of town we leave our bikes locked to a tree behind a small abandoned house. It was a soft pink color. It somewhat stood out making it easier to remember where we left our things. We chat quietly while making our way to a large department store.
The store was huge. The sign had fallen partially. A corner of the building was also caving in. Jessica, never going out on many supply trips didn't always realize the danger she put Ashlee and I in on a somewhat regular basis. Although we have become better at it over time.
As we arrived at the doors we became silent. Searching for any possible noises or animals that could get us in worse trouble than we were already putting ourselves in. Instead of going in through the front we found a side door that appeared quieter to open. Upon entering we were stunned to see lots of stuff still on the shelves. Why had this store not been hit so badly by looters. Shocked by the nostalgia and childlike joy we let our gaurd down. We casually walked down aisles and shared past memories that seemed insignificant then. We would give anything to be able to visit a store normally again. Buy a new dress to wear for date night or some shit.
"Holy shit, they have mother fucking WINE!!!"
Ashlee was almost in tears, and I couldn't contain my smile. We packed as many as we could. We still needed room for actual food.
Just then we both heard a single gunshot so we dropped immediately to the floor as quickly as possible. Readying our guns we slowly get up and sneak closer to the back of the store where the gun had fired. There is a hallway that leads back to the bathrooms and what I assume might be the head office or the workers lounge area. We see a shadow at first emerging from the hallway. We aim thinking it could be one of the infected, but it was just a man. He pulled out a walkie telling someone on the other end he's fine. Ashlee and I are frozen for a minute. We hadn't seen people in a long time. Hell it's even been awhile since we've seen an infected. They have been sparce lately. Probably just spreading out more. Although we weren't a very populated area anyway. Ashlee whispers "What do we do, ignore them?" I shrug not knowing myself. It would be risky to assume they are friendly. And if they were to rob us we would be left with nothing. Another man runs up, he has a large backpack on. Ashlee and I locked eyes for a moment. We had the same idea to potentially rob this man. I shake my head. "Maybe they will trade?" I whisper.
Ashlee shakes her head in disbelief that they would consider trading. We had not glanced back at the men for a minute, when we turned back to check on them they were gone. I turn back and shrug, if they were gone then we had no further issue. Ashlee and I nod knowing we should get a move on and wrap this up before we get spotted. While crouching we slowly walk around the nearest aisle where we are met face to face with the two men we had just spotted. Both shocked we all immediately stand, but none of us draw a weapon. After a solid 30 seconds of no speaking just staring I speak up
" We really just need to grab some food, we won't be any trouble." It was then that I noticed one of them was injured.
"You're hurt?" I said softly. Ashlee also softened her expression when she noticed the wound. Ashlee broke her silence as well, "Y/N is a healer of sorts, maybe we can help."
Ashlee and I are both suckers for wanting to help. The man with big sad brown eyes looked at me with some hope.
"Can you really hel-ehp" he stopped abruptly and grabbed the wound on his side that started to soak through his thick green coat. I couldn't tell the severity of it, I didn't want him to die though, so in the moment I just decided to say yes. His friend went alongside him to help support him. "My name is Ben" He proceeded to shake Ashlees hand and then my own. "This is George, nice to meet you. We were here looking for medical supplies, if you could help us out we would pay you back some how. Whatever you need, I promise. We'll work it off."
"I'm not a real doctor or anything man. I just started learning this stuff since the world went to shit. I've practiced on dogs, and cats, a few humans. Nothing too crazy. I've become pretty decent at sew up jobs. I just promise to do my best to help. If something goes wrong I just cant have you blaming me."
Ben smiled "Listen, its not like im going to find some heart surgeon out here. Anything you can do to help is better than whatever I could come up with."
Ashlee walks up to the other side of George and throws his arm over her neck. "I'll help walk him to the bikes."
I nod and quickly grab everything i can that is edible, even found a few seed packets. Elena will be stoked to add these to her garden.
We biked back to our little community that cosisted of 2 houses that have been conjoined by fencing in the two. Its somewhat protected by being hidden in the many trees that surround our community.
Jessica was sitting smoking outside. As she saw us pull up with two strangers she looked worried. I held up my hand to show her everything was okay and waved. We brought George in and laid him in a spare room we had set up for me to work on anyone who had been hurt. There was no bed, only a futon mattress had been laid on the floor.
"Set him down gently." Ben whispered.
Ashlee had a worried expression, I could tell she was worried about the blood loss. He appeared paler than before. I sat down and started preparing my equipment as fast as possible and urged Ashlee to grab some other things I needed.
As I neared being finished with sterilizing the needle I told everyone to leave the room. I can never concentrate while people watch. I had assumed George was knocked out when I reached down to start removing his jacket he grabbed my wrist.
"This is going to fucking hurt isn't it." He breathed. I nodded. I had nothing to numb him. Then I remembered the extra wine Ashlee and I had discovered. We had grabbed six bottles. I pulled out a bottle and handed it to George. He glanced it over.
"For the pain?"
"For the pain." I said as took it back from him to open it. After opening I asked if he would like a cup.
"Bottles fine, lets get this over with." He started to shrug off his jacket exposing the large gash on his side. Hopefully he hadn't punctured an organ or something I couldn't fix.
He took 3 large drinks and motioned for me to come to him. I started cleaning the wound to the best of my ability with what we had. It was time to start sewing. Sewing still makes me nervous.
I was ready to pierce skin when he interrupted.
"Do you have anything to bite on?"
I took the belt that was around my waist wrapped it up and handed it to him. He bit down and nodded to show he was ready.
I started and his eyes rolled back into his head, I kept going. I wanted this to be over as fast as possible. He started making a few small shrieks here and there but he was toughing it out rather well I thought.
As I was getting to the last few stitches his hand found my leg and grabbed it tightly. I felt horrible for causing him so much pain.
I started to just mumble I'm sorry over and over again until I had finally finished. His head fell back onto the pillow in exhaustion and agony. I leaned up and pressed my hand to his forehead and face and apologized some more. Trying to gauge how well he was actually doing. I stopped myself and realized I needed to finish by covering it with a bandage. I grabbed clean cloth from the cabinet and bandaged him. I look at him for a moment. I should grab his friend and let him know I've finished. He probably wants to wait with him until he wakes up. As I struggle to stand back up George's hand grabs mine and squeezes. I squeeze back giving him reasurrence, and leave to confront everyone.
Ben steps up to me immediately as i exit the room.
"What's the damage, is he cool? Are we good?"
I could tell he was nervous about the answer.
"I'm not sure yet honestly, he's all stiched up. He's also still alive and lucid which is a good sign. It's going to take a long time to heal. Maybe a month or two. It also needs to stay clean and free of infection. I recommend staying here until he's fully healed. Ben seemed pleased with my answers "Can I go see him now?" I nodded and he rushed in.
Ashlee pulled me to the side. "You reccomend they stay for two months?"
"Yes, that was my recommendation. He was hurt prerty bad, he shouldn't be moving at all for atleast 3 weeks. I think we should just chill. As long as he heals well, we could use their help."
Ashlee crosses her arms. "This is risky, but Im with you. It's nice to have new faces around."
"I agree" I smile, feeling slightly better that I may have saved someone's life.

Post civil war. Tony gets kidnapped (maybe by Ross?) and thinks the team won't come for him - and he's right. For whatever reason the rest of the team isn't going to save him. So color Tony completely dumbfounded when someone does show up to save him - the last person he ever expected to see. Bucky Barnes.
What Happens in Moscow (Part 1)
A/N: Part 1 of 2. This story contains mentions of HYDRA, references to violence and torture, blood and injuries, nightmares/PTSD, and psychological issues like insomnia and dissociative identity disorder. Many thanks to @folklejend for beta reading!
At first, Tony thought it was a dream.
To be fair, after enough time spent tied to a chair, everything felt like a dream. Those ropes around his wrists and his ankles - were they real or imaginary? Was it pain or numbness radiating through his jaw? Was it anything at all? Tony felt like he was floating, suspended in midair, or maybe lying on his back in the water, the current carrying him away as the world turned dark.
“Stark.”
The darkness shrank back. Someone was saying his name, someone whose voice he’d heard before. Who was it? Tony blinked, forcing his tired eyes to focus. Steve? Couldn't be. Steve wasn't coming. Wouldn't come, not for him. Besides, it didn't matter who came for him. None of this was real. Tony blinked again, the streaks of light finally combining into an image. And then, Tony was sure it was a dream. Long, dark hair. Bright blue eyes. Unmistakable metal arm. Someone must’ve repaired that, Tony thought to himself. It looked newer. Cleaner. Probably made of Vibranium.
Focus, Stark.
Right. Barnes. Bucky Barnes. What was he doing here? Was this part of Ross’s plan? Was the Winter Soldier here to finish what Ross had started?
No. Tony could tell that wasn’t it. Barnes’s eyes were bright and focused, not hard and glassy like they’d been that first time he’d been triggered. This was Bucky. And that begged the question again: what was he doing here?
(Watch out for the break!)
“You with me, Stark?”
Damn it. Had Tony been fading in and out? Probably. But if this was a dream, did it even matter?
“Yeah. I’m here. I’m awake.” Tony’s voice came out low and rough. Shit. He’d tried so hard not to scream. Screaming meant they were getting to you. But screaming was better than giving up.
Bucky knelt down in front of him. “Do you know where you are?”
Tony met Bucky’s eyes, then shook his head. “No.”
“This is the Sandbox. Old SHIELD facility turned HYDRA.” Bucky paused and looked Tony over, his eyes dark with concern. “Do you know how long you’ve been here?”
“No,” Tony said again.
“Forty-five hours.” Well. That would explain this whole thing feeling like a dream. Tony hadn’t slept in over two days, barring whatever time he’d spent unconscious.
“Can you tell me what they did to you?”
Tony squinted. “Torture. Can’t remember the specifics.”
Bucky’s expression hardened, and Tony flinched.
“Hey. Easy. I ain’t gonna hurt you.”
Tony swallowed, trying not to feel panicked when Bucky disappeared from view. “What’re you doing?”
“Untying you.”
“Oh. Okay.” Tony let his head fall back, his eyes closing. God, everything hurt. He was getting too old for this.
“D’you know who took you?” Bucky asked, working on the knot around Tony’s left wrist.
Tony thought back to that damn tranquilizer dart, how it had lodged itself into his shoulder before he’d even had time to react. “Ross. Ambushed me in my office.”
The ropes finally came loose, and Tony hissed in pain, drawing his arm up to his chest.
“But he ain’t the one who hurt you.”
“No.”
“Then who?”
Tony’s other hand came free, and god, what a relief. He slouched forward, elbows resting on his thighs, fingers sliding into his hair. “A couple of big guys. Shaved heads, combat armor.”
“I already took care of them.”
The noise Tony made wasn’t quite a laugh, but it came close. “Of course you did.”
Bucky was down near Tony’s ankles now, and those knots weren’t as tight; no point when Tony hadn’t been able to reach them. They were undone in a matter of seconds, and then Tony could finally breathe. He gasped, a loud, embarrassing hiccup, then exhaled, lifting his face out of his hands. Damn it. Tony hated being restrained. The torture, he could take; but when Tony was tied up, people died. Usually right in front of him.
“Hey.” Bucky looked up at Tony, his expression soft and serious. “You okay?”
Shit. Those weren’t noises people made when they were okay, huh? “Yeah. Yeah, I’m fine.”
Bucky nodded, standing up and taking a step back. “Can you walk?”
“Well I’m definitely not going to let you carry me.”
Apparently, Bucky wasn’t as much of a hardass as Tony thought. Tony saw the joke land, one corner of Bucky’s mouth tilting just slightly up.
“Wasn’t gonna try.” Bucky crossed toward the door, and Tony was suddenly afraid that Bucky might leave without him. He forced himself upright, ignoring the way his body screamed at him-
Except that didn’t quite work, because somehow Tony ended up on his knees in the dirt, his legs refusing to cooperate, his muscles trembling with the effort of holding himself up.
“Stark.”
“Sorry. Sorry, I'm coming, I promise.”
Bucky was next to him again, so close that Tony swore he could feel heat radiating off of Bucky’s body.
“Here.” Bucky helped lift him up, sliding an arm around Tony’s waist. “Arm over my shoulders. There you go. C’mon.”
Tony did as he was told, letting Bucky haul him to his feet. “Sorry. Just… tired.”
“Don’t apologize. Just keep movin’.”
Those were instructions Tony could follow. He kept his weight braced against Bucky’s shoulders and moved one foot in front of the other, watching his step as they crossed through the hallway he’d been dragged down days before.
There were so many bodies. Dead bodies, Tony was sure. Bucky, unlike Steve, didn’t take chances with things like that. Blood didn’t normally bother Tony, but right now, the sight was making his head spin. He closed his eyes, fighting against the heaviness in his own limbs.
“You okay, Stark?”
“Yeah,” Tony said. “Yeah, I’m fine.”
~
When Tony woke up next, he and Bucky were in the quinjet.
“Ugh.” Tony rubbed a hand over his face. “I passed out again, didn’t I?”
“Yeah. Don’t worry, nobody saw me carryin’ you.”
Tony groaned, covering his eyes with his hands. That was just perfect. Not only was Bucky Barnes coming to Tony’s rescue - which he really needed to ask about, but one goddamn thing at a time - but Bucky was carrying him like a damsel in distress. He was not a damsel.
Tony sat up, trying to get his bearings. He was lying on a makeshift cot, some coats thrown over three small wooden crates. “Um. I-”
“You got questions,” Bucky interrupted. “Let me try to answer ’em before you hurt yourself thinkin’ too hard.”
“Okay.” Tony didn’t have the mental capacity to argue. “How did you find me?”
“You still had the burner. Idiots were stupid enough not to destroy it when they searched you.”
“Alright.” Tony rubbed a hand over his face, as if that would help him think more clearly. “If you knew where I was, why did you come alone?”
“Steve wanted to hold a fuckin’ meeting and come up with a plan. It was gonna be hours before they started movin’, if they decided to come at all.”
“So you came after me without telling them?”
Bucky nodded. “Wasn’t worth wastin’ time over. You never know how long will be too long.”
Tony didn’t know what to say to that. He blinked, staring at Bucky, his brows drawn down into a frown. “Is that just some soldier thing? Did you wait too long once and now you’ve decided you’re never doing it again? Or do you actually give a shit what happens to me?”
“Both.”
That answer didn’t make Tony any less confused. Tony had tried to kill Bucky the last time they’d met. It hadn’t exactly been a friendly exchange. What reason would Bucky Barnes have to care about him?
Bucky narrowed his eyes. “Did you mean to ask that out loud?”
Fucking damn it.
“I really didn’t,” Tony said helplessly. “But now that it’s out there, maybe you should just answer it so I’m not sitting here wondering.”
Bucky considered Tony for a moment. “You’re a good person. You’re important to a lot of people. And you were tryin’ to help Stevie in Siberia.” Bucky paused, looking down at his hands. “’Sides. I owe you.”
Tony frowned. That was - huh. That part about trying to help was actually true. He'd somehow forgotten that he’d gone to Siberia to help Steve, to do the right thing. All those good intentions, and everything had still fallen apart.
No good deed goes unpunished, right?
“Sorry,” Tony murmured. “Sorry, I just got sidetracked for a second there, brain’s not firing on all cylinders yet. Mental tangents, you know. You said - you said you owe me. For what?”
“Your parents.”
Tony forced himself not to look away. He’d had plenty of time to think about this, to work out in his mind who was really to blame. The Winter Soldier might've been the weapon, but HYDRA had chosen to wield it. HYDRA had given the orders. None of it had ever been Bucky’s fault.
“You were brainwashed,” Tony said.
Bucky looked away. “I still did it.”
Just then, that was a little too much for Tony to process. He pinched the bridge of his nose, closing his eyes. His joints ached. His wrists and ankles burned. Everything else was a dull roar underneath the pounding that had started in his head.
“Do you know where the medkit got to? My head is killing me.”
Bucky didn’t say anything as he got up and retrieved the medkit from underneath the ship’s main console. He pulled out a water bottle and packet of pills, passing them over.
“We’re landing in less than an hour. Any injuries that won’t keep till then? You bleedin’ anywhere I don’t know about?”
“No. No, just the headache. Everything else can wait.” Tony tore open the packet and swallowed down the pills, chugging the water until half the bottle was gone. “Where are we going, exactly?”
“Got a place in Moscow,” Bucky replied.
“Moscow. Okay.”
~
Moscow, as it turned out, was freezing. Even with two coats, Tony's sweat turned to ice as they walked the half mile to the motel. He had expected something more secluded, but he wasn't about to argue. Unless Ross had put some kind of homing device on him, this was probably the last place anyone would come looking, anyway.
Tony wrapped his arms around himself as they stepped into the entryway, feeling a shiver crawl up his spine. “This place is fucking cold,” he said, and maybe it sounded whiny, but his patience was just about shot.
Bucky was already busy adjusting the thermostat. “Give it a minute to warm up. I promise, in a few hours you’ll be beggin’ for me to turn it down.”
“I’ll hold you to that.”
Bucky crossed the room, opening one of the dresser drawers. “Should be some things in here that are about your size. Bed is yours - I’ll take the couch.”
Tony nodded, struck by a fresh wave of exhaustion. “Okay.”
“I got a better medkit in the bathroom. You should let me take a look at you before you sleep.”
“Ugh,” Tony groaned, wondering how many more times he’d have to use that word before the day was over. “Is that really necessary?”
“You still don’t remember what they did to you?”
Tony shook his head no.
“Then yeah. It's necessary.”
~
Tony stepped into the bathroom, already feeling too exposed under the harsh lights. He took a deep breath, trying to relax. This was due diligence. He still didn't remember anything. He might very well be more injured than he thought.
He managed to peel off his socks and his jeans, but the shirt refused to cooperate. Well. It wasn't the shirt so much as his arm. He vaguely remembered someone doing something to his shoulder, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't remember what. Something painful, obviously. Something that made it impossible to get all the way undressed, which meant he was standing stupidly on the bathmat in nothing but his boxers and a Black Sabbath tee. Tony scowled.
“Before you say anything about me not following directions,” Tony said, pausing when Bucky met his eyes from the doorway, “I actually couldn’t get the shirt off.”
“How come?”
“Shoulder,” Tony said. “Left one.”
“I can help you take it off. Or I can cut it, if-”
“No,” Tony said quickly. Then, feeling just a little embarrassed for being so attached to a stupid shirt, “No, just… help me take it off.”
“Okay.”
Tony hadn't expected Bucky to be so gentle. Bucky lifted the right side of the hem slowly, peeling it off of Tony’s right arm and turning the shirt inside out as he eased it over Tony’s head. It slid down over Tony's left shoulder without any resistance, and Tony breathed a sigh of relief.
“Thanks,” Tony said, wishing he had something to cover the arc-reactor scars on his chest. He shouldn't have worried. Something else had stolen Bucky’s focus, something on his back that he couldn't see. Tony craned his neck to look in the mirror behind him.
Oh.
“They whipped me.” Tony licked his lips, his mouth suddenly dry. He arched his back, the motion totally involuntary, remembering the sting of the leather snapping against his skin.
Tony glanced back at Bucky. He was flexing his metal hand, his eyes as dark as his expression.
Tony frowned. “Bucky. What-”
“Killed ’em too quick,” Bucky said in a low voice. “Should’ve let ’em suffer.”
That was some kind of intense. Bucky looked every inch the Winter Soldier, cold and calculating and lethal, ready to snap someone's neck with no effort at all.
“Why do you care that they did this to me?” Tony asked, positive he hadn’t earned that kind of reaction. “I mean, aside from the normal, human reasons. Why does this upset you so much?”
A muscle worked in Bucky’s jaw. “I ain’t upset.”
Tony wasn’t falling for that. The look in Bucky’s eyes was murderous. Strictly speaking, Bucky had already committed murder for Tony. Tony had a right to know why.
“Hey.” Tony reached out and grabbed Bucky’s wrist, only realizing after the fact how dangerous a move that could’ve been. He forged ahead, determined not to lose his nerve. “I’m putting a lot of faith in you here. I’ve cooperated with everything you’ve asked me to do, and sure, part of that is because I’m tired as hell, but I don't normally just do what people say.” Tony loosened his grip just a fraction. “Explain to me why I matter so much.”
Bucky looked at the ground. “It’s stupid. It won’t make sense to you.”
“You obviously have no concept of how smart I am.” Tony released Bucky’s wrist, willing himself not to sound frustrated. “Try me.”
Bucky sat down on the edge of the tub. “The Soldier wants to protect you. I can’t really control it.”
Tony raised his eyebrows. “The Soldier.”
Bucky nodded. “I think it’s… What do they call it? Dissociative identity disorder.”
“You know what that is?” Tony asked, blinking in surprise.
“Sam gave me a copy of the DSM-5 when I ran outta books to read. Self-diagnosed a couple things.”
“I imagine.” Tony thought he probably had a few undiagnosed psychological disorders himself, not that he was about to consult the book about them. “So… The Soldier wants me - what? Safe?”
Bucky shrugged. “He likes you. I ain’t in a position to tell him what to do.”
Tony huffed, biting down on his lower lip. That was too much information and not enough at the same time. Bucky couldn't tell the Soldier what to do; that meant the Soldier probably wasn't just some small side personality. Hell, maybe the Soldier had equal real estate in Bucky's head.
“Did the Soldier tell you to come find me?” Tony asked.
“Yeah.”
Briefly, Tony closed his eyes. The Winter Soldier had told Bucky to save him. That was maybe the craziest thing he'd ever heard, and still some part of him was flattered. Confused, and maybe just a little bit terrified, but flattered nonetheless.
“Okay.” Tony nodded once, opening his eyes. “What’s next?”
“Huh?”
“Well, you answered my question. I figure that means I owe you a minute or two of cooperation before I start being a pain in your ass.”
Bucky smiled so briefly that if Tony had blinked, he would’ve missed it.
“Oughta get you cleaned up,” Bucky said, crossing past Tony to pull down a towel from the cupboard. “Bath or shower?”
Tony considered the question. Given his recent track record with maintaining consciousness, staying vertical was probably the best plan. “Shower,” he replied.
