#'science genii' don't just join hands and science together #there's only so much time to get good at something #you develop a very specific vocabulary and knowledge base #the philosophy of why you study the thing you study is just different enough #also STEM isn't a monolith; that's why they are different letters #me as an engr is more focused on practical applications rather than fundamentals #it's not more or less valuable that the other letters #also also the over-valuing of 'rockstar' experts - they are only one guy™️ #the bulk of the work; the implementation; is done by the more average folks that work very hard to learn the things they know and practice #ugh i'm too old to have the strength to suspend disbelief #there are common fanons and tropes that deal catastrophic psychic damage as soon as i lay eyes on words #saw something that involved contemporary astronautics and god bless i hope those ppl have fun but i need to Go #but then again as a teenager i thought it should be possible to afford a bougie loft in a metro area on min wage #i'm just grumpy and exhausted and one specific lymph node feels like it's been stabbed over and over #why not the other lymph nodes? why such acute pain? #anyways survived my meetings + made sure no one said anything that would make my workload stupid complicated #if ppl ever have questions about STEM academia from the perspective of an NPC i'm your dude #redglyphs #science shit
