You roll your eyes at the display, though a tiny part of you loves that your brother has someone who loves him this well. Once he quiets, Remus speaks in a low, soothing voice. “I know, I know, you won’t be deterred from your vengeance, but there’s time for that later. Let’s just calm down for now.” 

It’s a lovely prospect, but at that moment, the door opens to reveal Regulus and James, both looking somewhat ruffled. James stops short at seeing you all gathered in his dorm (Remus and Sirius, of course, have every right to be here, but you’d bet he and Reg were hoping for some privacy) and stands there blinking for a moment. “What happened?” he asks, pushing past James and into the dorm.

Now James looks upset too, eyes darting to Remus concernedly. “About Moony? When?” 

“Just now!” Sirius throws up his hands. “Ten minutes ago! Did either of you see anything?” 

James shakes his head, and despite Regulus’ blank expression, you catch the embarrassed shifting of his stance. “No,” James says, “we were, uh…we didn’t see anything.” 

“I bet I know who it was though,” Regulus offers, that traitorous scum. He’s just throwing you under the bus to take the heat off himself.

otherwise what the heck are you doing here

but basically, what ive seen people get upset over a lot, is the fact that clover kills asgore and flowey instantly, takes the human souls, and then just waltzes out of the underground and beyond the players reach (which is my personal take on why resetting goes back to floweys control, and clover forgetting, instead of to when clover unlocks the save ability, is its not clover or flowey resetting, but us. the player IS a distinctly separate entity in ut/dr after all)

but honestly?? what else COULD have happened?? asgore couldnt handle frisk at level ONE. he didnt stand even a FRACTION of a chance against an lv 20 clover, who might i add, has a giant laser beam, a degree of soul magic not even frisk obtains. you COULD argue chara uses soul magic to "kill" our save file at the end of undertales merciless route though, i could see that, but still, clovers laser is a much more direct and obvious show of it. (and just to be safe, before anyone tries to say humans dont have magic, no, thats literally the entire premise of the setting is humans used magic to create the barrier, its just less present in humans than it is in monsters, who are made of the stuff)

and undertale yellows merciless route goes the route of deciding that undertales version already said everything there is to say on the meta aspects and the whole "you can so you need to" mindset, so instead it just calls it what it is: its a power trip. its mindless slaughter for the sake of getting stronger, whether its the player demanding a different ending (like deltarunes coldhearted route(im not calling it snowgrave, but this is entirely personal preference)), or again just wanting to see whatll happen. but either way its to feel strong.

and what happens at the end of that power trip? youve reached level 20. youve surpassed floweys control. you have as much power as you could ever hope to achieve. so, realistically:

whats stopping you from just killing asgore and leaving.

nothing. so you do.

and it leaves you wondering: was the power trip worth it. was the pain and suffering you caused worth it to get such a blatantly, not just non-canon, but ANTI-CANON ending? (EDIT: and i mean this in a positive way, its the same kind of self-reflection over your actions that undertale pulls, just communicated in a more indirect way)

and it being so anti-canon is part of why its such a haunting ending for me.

there really wasnt any other possible way for it to end. lv 20 itself and the way undertale and deltarune characterize that increase in power, in retrospect it feels obvious that it would be anti-canon in a prequel. monster souls are weaker than human souls, even at lv 1. so against a human whos lv 20, and who got there by constantly persisting and trying over and over to get past whatever obstacle is in front of them, and refuses to give up on their conquest, theres nothing anyone can do, and that alone rips the canon of undertale into shreds.

even SANS realizes theres nothing that can actually stop you, not even him, so the best he can hope for is that he puts up enough of a fight to make the player give up and/or reset, same reason his final attack is a turn that never ends.

and having to face that by helplessly watching clover blast an asgore-shaped hole in the story is TERRIFYING to me, in a way i really love the yellow team for doing. idk if its actually intentional or if im reading too much into it, but either way,

For the song asks: Charlestor

charlastor/radiobelle has the benefit of relating to a lot of tropes and aesthetics in media that i already really enjoy and have a lot of content for. that being said, the songs ive chosen for them relate more to the pilot versions of these two characters, where it was speculated that alastor was going to be more of a mysterious, unflappable background mentor figure. ive heard their relationship being compared to that of clarice starling and hannibal lecter from silence of the lambs and hannibal, and i think some of that can vibe definitely be used here.

the first song that ever came to mind for these two (in recent memory) was a dangerous game from the jekyll and hyde musical (sung by anthony warlow and linda eder).

at the touch of your hand, and the sound of your voice, at the moment your eyes meet mine - i am out of my mind, i am out of control, full of feelings i cant define.

its a sin with no name, like a tiger to tame, (and though no-ones to blame) its a crime and a shame, and the angels proclaim its a dangerous game.

im a bit of a sucker for melodramatic gothic musicals, and the vision this song brings to mind is charlie wandering the empty halls of her dilapidated hotel and cautiously dancing with alastor and his army of half-sentient shadows. it relates to charlies pov more than alastors (as in this case he would be singing about her) and how they would have to tread carefully no matter what kind of close relationship they choose to partake in.

next up is me and mr wolf (the real tuesday weld).

you have the thing i love but the fear in me is way too much. if i open wide one of us may get lost inside. me or you, one of us is going to need to die.

my favourite version of this relationship is them being mutually fucked - alastor has never really given much thought to romantic love and hes shocked that hes willing to break so many of his own rules for this silly little slice of heaven in hell; charlie responds well to alastor setting clear boundaries against her sometimes-invasive behavior, and, like any good theatre kid, he "yes-and"s her (instead of vaggies pretty consistent "no"s). however, this song also touches on the fact that charlie is (or should be) at least alastors equal in power, if not far beyond him, and its a warning that neither of them should overstep in either love or anger.

the last one ill leave you with is actually one that was made canon by helluva - its look my way (paranoid DJ, but the alternate version sung by bryce pinkham) and its a bit of an ooc situation from alastors point of view.

unless its me, and no matter what in this world i could give - its not enough to get through the walls youve conjured up to live. is this what you feel? scorned by a world that cannot comprehend what you are, so ill grant you this mercy - this bind on our souls needs to end.

this is taking into account the deal that charlie makes with alastor in the penultimate episode of the first season of hazbin. the idea is that alastor (or at least, the speculative pilot version of alastor) strongly admires charlies perseverance against her own people - the very beings shes trying so hard to save. while charlie is a relatively open book he knows that she probably doesnt let anyone, not even her own girlfriend/best friend, see the emotional toll this project has taken on her (again, this tying in more to the pilot personalities of these characters), and hes upset that her deal with him has only made things worse in that regard. he makes the choice, to his own detriment, to sever the deal without her knowledge, so that if she doesnt keep her end of the bargain it will be of no consequence to her.

These are just my opinions on Dragon Age: Witch Hunt, but I feel like I don’t see much appreciation for them.

If youve played Dragon Age: Witch Hunt, you’ll know you get two companions. The Mage, Finn (or as he calls himself Florian Phineas Horatio Aldebrant, Esquire.) and the Dalish Warrior, Ariane.

I think the series absolutely SLEPT on these two characters. As far as I know, they aren’t mentioned EVER AGAIN after all of that, and that is a crime!

I loved Ariane. She was fiercely brave but had her own morals and compassion set aside from her clan. It made her feel so unique to me and didn’t have too much hate towards humans but was still cautious towards them (Even though it would have been totally justifiable for her to hate them if you know anything about how Thedas traditionally treats elves. City/Dalish.) She had so much grace and patience that it was so refreshing to see a Dalish warrior women in the game that was not either full of rage or just super edgy the entire time. Also! When it came to saving as little knowledge her people had already, she was willing to give her blood for it. Even if it made her nervous. They totally just tucked this character away and it’s a damn shame.

Finn, while he is super arrogant and a bit of a clean freak, really grew on me. At first, I didn’t like his character in the beginning. But he slowly grew to be a bit more relatable, more open, even (from what I remember) Humbled. I also find him so adorable and honestly so progressive for the way he was helping find the shards to the mirror.

I really want to see these characters again and I really hope Dragon Age at least brings up the characters again.

bad ign reporting aside, i was also pretty upset at first since no femc and the answer! but then i saw a good point someone made about the femc case:

persona 3 reload has reportedly been in development for four years. and in that four years thats standard time to build a game from the ground up, maybe even too little – anyone who's been in game dev can tell us that. p3re doesnt reuse assets, too, it's completely from scratch. so having femc isnt simply a matter of model swap. they'd also have to program the UIs and make everything pink - sure, that could be "easy", but there's also the changed social links and team dynamics (more writing to be done), weapon system and all that (more coding)? so its like... i'd be actually surprised if they managed a femc during those 4 years. its quite a lot of work to re-adapt base p3 as is i feel and modernizing it. also i feel like atlus themselves wouldnt want to do their character and her fanbase wrong so of course they wouldnt fkn slap on a few pink menus and call it a day. they surely want to rewrite the s links and everything too in accordance to her. art takes time.

(with all that being said bullying atlus for femc is warranted actually maybe then her inevitable dlc might come faster lmao )

similarly, im fine with no "the answer" now despite being its #1 defender. theyd have to completely rework the 30:2 hour grinding to story ratio which is just not sustainable on a modern gameplay perspective. that also takes time.

its why i made this post actually. i somehow trust them, and i feel like most of us can stand to chill a little and have healthier expectations. as in not overbloated and not have the bar set in hell either (altho we should also do that too)

and i know, like anyone who's played this game, it means so much to so many people. and thats why its maybe impossible to please everyone, because its so many different things: a game that saved their life, a funny goofy lighthearted one where you catch demons, the most depressing persona game ever (altho i feel like p2 would beg to differ on that one-), or for me personally, a game that just made me cry man.

and because it means so much, everyone wants to see it be the best it can be!! and that means having hamuchan. i get that all of this riot energy is out of love for the game, really. but. yeah.

a remake seems like it's "less work to do" since the foundation's "already there" and i dont know how many people worked on p3re but like. i highly doubt theyre just sitting on their asses pissing off fans on purpose lol. (or maybe they are and im just too optimistic damn 😭)

1. My fav fic of yours - flight risk......im pretty sure its the first fic of yours ive ever read but oh god its SO good erics character and everything abt it ??? Had me feeling butterflies so many times i screamed and yelled into my pillow. Also inspired me a lot in my writing slump and like... i dont wanna be cheesy but helped me mentally bc i read it when i was having a rough time 😭👍 but also PARTY PEOPLE !!!!! so good. Something i remember vividly - that scene from flight risk when eric asked sunwoo if he wants to go skate w them and sunwoo goes "no, im down" and eric is like wtf and so sunwoo goes "no, im down. laying down in my bed" or something (the memory is not 100% vivid as u can see) but I legit slapped my knee that was PEAK COMEDY for me

7. Something that made me emotional after reading - that one chapter of somewhere only we know when intak describes how he wishes he could hear his brothers voice sometimes because if he missed him in that way maybe it would hurt less. That whole series is...very personal to me in sense of grief :,)

finally got my hands on Pikmin 4 and here are my initial first thoughts. I'll do the negatives first.

First, the game starts absolutely horribly. Awful. For what I believe is the entire first hour, minus the intro fight you do, is almost entirely dialogue. Tutorials are all over the place. You dont even see a Pikmin in this time frame. After you finally get one an hour into the game, slowly the nonstop dialogue and tutorials stop.

Second, the general control and feel of the game. The motion controls are so half baked. I heard it was like this in Pikmin 1+2 on Switch. With this, the pointer only listens to the motion control when you're throwing a Pikmin or whistling. You cannot move the pointer without doing an action, which feels AWFUL. Even when it lets you actually point it while doing an action, it just feels wrong. This using gyro doesnt help, but I think its a bit more flawed than that.

Lastly, the weird changes related to throwing Pikmin and carrying stuff. Lets say theres a 1 Pellet you want to get. In the other games, to make it faster, you just throw two Pikmin and run along. The game just doesnt let you do that? If the pellet is still on the flower, the second Pikmin will NOT help carry it after its knocked down. If its on the ground, and you try to throw two Pikmin at it, you actually cant. When youre hovering over an object, the game stops your throws when youve thrown the exact amount of Pikmin. You just cant throw them anymore. You can still try to add help as its being carried, but even then a good amount of the time it still wont help. This applies to every object in the game and it REALLY bugs me.

These three points were very front and center at the start of the game, so I was not super enjoying myself. However, things got wayyy better not soon after this starting hour or so.

The game stops stopping you, and lets you freely explore. The map design is amazing. Something I love is that now you can move the Onion and ship to specific points in the map. There were already many times where I had to strategize where I should set it at because either the Pikmin can't carry it to its current location, or it would save alot more time to move it elsewhere.

They brought back caves from Pikmin 2!! But made them good!! I love exploring them. There are alot of pretty well designed puzzles in them, and I enjoy them alot. Man I love the caves.

Another positive, the controls. Yeah the motion controls suck, but the normal controls are actually really good as someone who prefer playing the Pikmin games with motion controls and don't like the GameCube controls. There's a bit of aim assist, which makes the lack of having the precision of motion not a worry. It just feels good to use. I was worried about the lack of a Wiimote or Gamepad screen, but they got me.

Dandori and Night missions are REALLY fun. There are 1v1 battles where youre competing with the CPU for points, which so far are easy yet still fun. Theres timed missions where you play a mini dungeon and try to get every item, kill every enemy etc in a set period of time. You really have to strategize here if you want to 100% the challenge. Its several minutes of trying to use your full brain power on how to most effectively clear the map. The night missions now, most definitely overhyped in marketing. This is just a rather short tower defence game. I still love these but its definitely not a big part of the game like marketing lead me to believe. These new game modes really elevate an already fun enough game.

So yeah, so far I'm loving the game. The very first impression is absolutely horrible though in my opinion. I'm fairly sure the time of a Pikmin 1 speedrun is lower than the time it takes an average player to get their first Pikmin in 4. Aside from that, its amazing. I feel like this is a good game even for someone who tried a Pikmin game before and didnt particularly like it.

Oh my god Akane has so many good ones how could you make me choose hmmm I love the gun scene like a lot a lot she has so many scenes of her acting that are so funny to me and so many little interactions with so much weight too I obviously want to say the reveal scene of her narrating but honestly it's such a game defining moment that in my heart it's not so much a favorite moment for the character but just generally in fiction of all time ds dual screen playing into the experience my beloved this shit's peak fiction and absolutely everything hinges on this moment like fr it's so good it's insane But okay I'll actually surprise everyone with this and talk about ztd positively actually and claim C-Team ending as my favorite moment for her because it just encapsulates her character perfectly, what she's capable of why she does it how she thinks of herself for it how she still despite everything holds her memories with Junpei very dear in what's kind of a selfish way the imagery of the blood red moon all as she is at her wits end realizing just how much she was playing right into some other Zero's hand like these are all great conceptually! I can only imagine a world where the execution of and context for these ideas didn't fall flat as hell on it's face also shout out for the voice actors carrying the few good moments of this game btw

15. what i dont like about the way canon portrayed them

Aside from how ztd generally just treats everyone in terms of framing and where the story goes and especially seems to erase details we had very well estabilished on her from her mind and characterization y'know forgetting she's not an only child not being afraid of fire being okay with nurses etc etc Then there's not much I dislike really, like, as much as it pains me to see her turn out so callous and utilitarian and ruining people's lives for the 'greater good' it's still such a good development for her regardless in a way you don't often see and I'm thankful for it. Like honestly it's important to me to keep this in mind for her characterization even when I'm writing fics where almost nothing bad happens after she saves herself in 999, those traits never manage to take such a strong hold on her while still being there, so, I deny canon but I accept her as she is <3 lmao okay I guess there is one thing I disagree and it's just that I like to think she wouldn't be as okay with murder as she supposedly is? I don't think she'd never do it herself, fucking far from it, I just think she wouldn't own up to it? Try to remove herself from it however she can I dunno or maybe even just doing it on auto pilot just absolutely seething without a word or saying stuff that's more calculated still, like the fire extinguisher bit is so funny but I do wish she sounded less hysterical about it? It doesn't quite fit her, it feels like I'm watching some random dating sim with a secret route where the girl goes crazy, also she sounds so silly with the chainsaw lol

I don't like how she's friends with Ota specifically lmao okay not necessarily by which I mean I think it's weird that the fact all her friends being adults is something we're meant to practically ignore? It's not an inherently negative thing but it's mostly addressed as jokes at best but it's weird about what that means for her development wise or what it means for the characters she is friends with like they give her this presumed competence that is brushed off as her being 'so mature for her age' and so ahead of the other kids so we might as well treat her like we're peers but that. That has ramifications and implications and that's one of the things I relate to her own! So I know what I'm talking about it just feels shallow when it feels like it'd have some more relevance especially from Date's pov when it comes to assuming that same competence about combat and putting her in harm's way I guess it comes down to the more silly tone of AI but it's also a me thing to look at this and see missed potential because I know the nuance in those relationships and what it can do to a kids perception of self very well

ive talked about this before so sorry if you've already seen it but this was the quote/scene that really got me obsessed with orv. up until that point i had been enjoying orv as a pretty basic power fantasy book but this was the quote/scene that irrevocably changed me because when kim dokja exploited the scenario to save shin yoosoung i was kind of rolling my eyes at it. i felt like it was pretty contrived and improbable. and then the constellations agreed with me! and it changed the scenario! it was a complete 'wait, what?' moment that really made me feel the parallel between constellation and reader of orv in a way that blurred the lines and got me really invested. especially this particular section where shin yoosoung is so sad and kim dokja essentially looked me in the eye and went 'oh you thought that was too contrived? now look what youve done. i hope you enjoy this story cunt'. it was this point i really realised what orv was about and i fell in love with it. sorry for the really long answer i just love this scene/quote a LOT. thanks for asking!
