🎬In the original work, Subcon Forest is the stimulating world and the Mafia is Persia. The Forest gives the Phantom different values. Having studied in the forest, he completed the Labyrinth of Mirrors for the Mafia.

🎬Next to the bird city is Subcon Forest. It is a place of artistic community and frozen time concepts. There are flowers and ice everywhere, and music is playing.

🎬Snatcher lives in Subcon Forest with his many friends. Of course he offers contracts to intruders, but his goal is friends, not souls.

🎬He is very jovial and lonely. He hates loneliness and loves art. He will try anything that interests him, but basically he paints.

🎬Subcon Forest has many residents. Minicons, spirits, Moonjumper, florist, Vanessa, cats, shapeshifter, birds, and more. They all hone their own art and appreciate others.

🎬Vanessa is good at ice sculpting and Moonjumper is the only doctor in the forest. Anyway, there are many dwellers. There are many forms of art. This means that the forest is not a completely safe zone. Snatcher does not demand that the dwellers follow common sense. No matter how good the rules are, conflicts due to cultural differences are inevitable.

🎬Subcon Forest regularly hosts an art presentation. It is a very big festival, and only on that day intruders are allowed to enter the forest without a contract. Naturally, food is also served. One must check for hallucinogenic drugs, though.

🎬Phantom was a dweller in the forest at one time. This means he is a friend of Snatcher's so he has free access to the forest. He is basically in the cellar of the cinema, but if he needs someone's help, he will turn to the forest dwellers.

🎬He learned more advanced magic there. At the freak circus, he could only learn very basic magic. But he was able to acquire enough knowledge and skills in the forest.

🎬Snatcher was originally a prince. But stress caused him to cut his ears and the ensuing infection took his life. That was the birth of Subcon Forest. Vanessa was the princess of a neighboring kingdom, but she is still alive. Importantly, vast tracts of time corrupted in an instant.

🎬The incident resulted in many deaths. They have become minicons and they are now living a new life in the forest, forgetting their painful previous lives. Snatcher feels very guilty about it, but all he can do for them is offer them a playground.

🎬Snatcher has tried everything that interests him, but he hates literature. Literature, both in writing and reading, requires errors of meaning in translation and an understanding of its background culture. But even with that much effort, it would be difficult to read the full artistic message of literature. It pains him that he has to dare to leave areas he does not understand untouched.

🎬Snatcher paints only for himself, but Bow writes for others. Their perspectives on art are quite different. Written expression? Snatcher believes that direct words should be expressed in their original form. Bow believes that words should be used with the reader in mind.

🎬The idea that art is only as good as its audience. From Snatcher's point of view, that is laziness. There is no freedom. The idea that art is about ego. From Bow's point of view, it is arrogance. There is no effort to communicate one's ideas to more people.

🎬Phantom also holds the view that art and audience are inseparable. What is the best thing of art? This idea has the best answer to this question. It is the deliberate manipulation and fixing of the audience's mindset. It is lazy without freedom. But it will make everyone happy.

🎬From time to time Mafia Boss comes to Subcon Forest. He is not interested in art in the slightest, but he comes once a month with various goods for the forest dwellers.

🎬He is an economic genius. He indirectly dominates about half of the planet through commerce. He has a small kingdom on an island and would rather be called "king" than "boss". Anyway, he has a keen interest in entertainment.

🎬He helped freak circus and built a huge amusement park. He likes to have fun. He found out Phantom through a sales visit to Subcon Forest and invited him to come to his kingdom.

🎬Well, I must say that ...... rosy times have come. He enjoyed Phantom's magic tricks every day, but after a year he grew bored with them. On a whim, he ordered Phantom to show him something gruesome and had Phantom build him the labyrinth of mirrors.

🎬I won't go into the details of the mechanism. Anyway, very cruel torture is possible there, and the owner of the palace could easily torment visitors with the flick of a switch. The boss found a new entertainment value in the immorality.

🎬He had Phantom build another castle palace in exchange for a beautiful hourglass he had recently found. It has a special wall structure and many hidden passages. The owner of the palace can hear gossip wherever he is.

🎬The boss liked the palace very much, but at the same time he began to fear the presence of Phantom. As long as he was there, the palace's security would not be perfect. He had to kill the yellow owl.

🎬The rest is simple. Phantom knows what the boss is up to, thanks to the special structure of the palace. The hourglass helped it and triggered a split in Phantom's time.

🎬The boss is a wayward person and likes children. He especially likes Timmy, who suddenly appeared and trusted him with the cinema. Yes, Timmy is an alien and a mafia.

🎬He didn't believe the " Phantom of the Cinema" rumors, and Timmy didn't believe them either. But if the little managers were actually in danger, he could always help them.

🎬He is involved in the management of the cinema in the form of a board member. Phantom does not take too kindly to him. To Phantom, Boss is an outsider who pollutes the bird city. The increase in the number of mafia stores has caused the loss of several traditional bird stores. He hates to see it.

🎬Timmy is very smart and likes to joke and prank. He doesn't know much about movies at all, so he had to have a movie specialist as his sidekick when he was running the cinema.

🎬Timmy and the Mustache Girl did not believe Phantom's rumors at first. Rather, they made fun of his warnings. They ignored Phantom's request not to sit in Box 5, but stopped doing so after the chandelier incident.

🎬They suspect that the identity of Phantom is one of the directors. They believe that someone created the " Phantom" in order to get out of work and that it is getting bigger.

🎬To them the boxkeeper is an insider, and to the boxkeeper they are the hated enemy. The boxkeeper demands that they accept the existence of Phantom. If they do not, his daughter will not be able to rise in the company.

🎬Boxkeepers receive many letters every day. The very first letter he received was the beginning of it all.

🎬Should I tell the story of the safety pin incident? It's a long story, read the original for the details! Phantom demands an "administrative fee" from them. A salary for managing the cinema's iconic abundance of water. And the right to use box 5 seats. Timmy refuses, but reluctantly pretends to comply after the chandelier incident. But the act did not go well, and all the pay was paid to the ghost.

🎬Importantly, they do not believe in the existence of Phantom. Timmy gradually begins to suspect that the mustache girl is stealing the envelope containing his paycheck. And indeed, the envelope is found in her pocket. Soon it is explained by the boxkeeper himself that it was the work of the boxkeeper, but which leads to the two of them keeping a close eye on each other. A safety pin was needed to remedy the situation.

Got bored so I wrote this little oneshot

"So your kingdom uses the sun and the environment around to create energy?" The subcon princess asked, holding her book she was reading before.

"Mhm? Oh- yeah. I guess? I dunno, Mom and dad talk about the light in here being particular and magical that can function as energy!" The boy shot his arms in the air. "so we use it to make everything work!" He smiled.

"Woah..b- wait, but what about the moon??"

"Oh, there's no moon. You know how you said in subcon is always night? In here is always day!"

"Woah..so you use magic.. everywhere?!"

"Yeah? Yeah I think so. mom and dad always talk about uhm- what was it called. Like the chosen one??"

"...the chosen one?" that sounds silly.

"Yeah! Like, that every once in a while someone in the royal family will receive powers or something..for what reason, I dunno, but it sounds cool." He shrugged.

"And how do you know you have these powers?"

"How did you know you had yours?"

"My- oh..uhm.." fear. screams. Sense of survival. "I guess it just..one day I just started freezing things?"

"Oh then I guess it works that way! One day you just woosh! Have powers." He made the motion of an explosion.

"Mhm..but, why only one?"

"Oh because of a curse."

"A curse?" That escalated quickly.

"Yeah, everyone treats it like a good thing, but my grandpa once said it's actually a curse that is supposed to corrupt you one day. dad says grandpa likes to tell scary stories a lot." But, he personally likes to think like his grandpa. More twist to the story...hehe. Also makes more sense.

"Umh, my mom says it's a natural thing for us, we are just naturally born with powers!"

"Oh that's cool! You can make your own ice cream!"

"Well, it's ice not..ice cream?"

"cool your beverage?"

"Yeah! Haha." And she laughed. How she sit there and laugh and be so beautiful? WAIT NO. STUPID FEELINGS, STOP. romance is for the WEAK! Remember that.

Though she is pretty, BUT IT'S ONLY BECAUSE IT'S A FACT NOT BECAUSE HE'S IN LOVE OR WHATEVER MOM ALWAYS SAYS, love is disgusting..ew.. putting each other's mouths together sounds awful, like, what if it's...w e t. eW EW EW.

"can you make your own statues???" JUST- just forget about it. "My own statues?"

"Like ice statues!"

"Oh- i-- I don't know if I can.."

"You can learn though?"

"mom doesn't want me to use my powers,," the moment she saw the smile from his face fade away, she felt her heart crack. "B-but! But I can ask if I could practice it so I don't go out of control,,s-so I can make ice statues!"

"Now we're talking. Show your mom who's boss!!!"

"She is.. though?"

"Nah."

Can we know more about the various bosses and mini bosses in your AU? Like Vanessa?

Okay this took me a while to awnser because i was trying to figure out how, but i think i can answer on vanessa.

First things first, due to the way that the Subcon story changed during development, Vanessas story feels really unfinished. There seems to be no reason for her to have just snapped besides the love. Which i guess works from a story telling point but i don't like it. Anyways, let me tell you what ive come up with by now.

Vanessa has some undiagnosed mental issues, most likely some form of personality disorder. Im not fully set on it, but she deffintly had problems she needed help with that she did not get.

The zombie curse that is present in the curse dlc has run in her family for generations. If you were to look back at paintings of them, all royal members would wear gloves. The ice powers however are unique to her.

Before her meltdown she was loved by the people, they adored her. She kept part of tbe forsest in this permanent winter wonderland. (Not the icy stuff you see in game, but instead a beautiful display of ice and snow)

Occasionally she would make ice sculptures, often for events and festivals. Due to being made out of magical ice and not normal ice, these would never melt. Not untill she decided to destroy them.

She was not very big on reading or really learning about royal duties in genral. She did enjoy baking though, often getting along with the Royal chefs.

She also enjoyed gardening and would spend many days perfecting her garden, it was beautiful.

Now lets move to after the breakdown.

After her magic freezes most of the forest, she retreats to her manor and doesnt leave. She doesnt even go into the garden that she had loved so much.

She has a few of her own minons, mostly headless statues that protect her manor and other areas important to her. They are mostly mindless without their heads. (There is one statue with a head, they are practically her advisor.)

She doesnt quite register that all of this was her fault. She knows she had a part to play, but she doesn't understand it all. She actully thinks it was snatcherss fault.

If you were to get close enough you coulf make out all the details of her still there, albeit incased in shadow. Her hair is quite tangled, not taken care of much any more. One eye is permently closed, always crying. The other looks quite insane, always darting around paranoid. Her dress is tattered and worn, but still faintly green.

She's gone a bit insane from her isolation, often talking to the ice statues and pretending they responded. She's very lonley.

When Hat and Bowie arive, she flips between desperetly wanting them to stay, and wanting them to leave her alone and get out of her manor. It does not help that they are children.

Now after the reset.

She had a feeling that something wasnt right, theat someone had broken in, yet there was no evidence of anything. She even enters the attic for the first time in many years and looks inside the chest of valuables. The strange glowing relic (time peice) that the statues had brought her was still there.

It's a few days after the reset when she finally leave her manor for the first time since the meltdown. Granted its not far, she only enters the garden but its a huge step.

The garden has fallen into a sad state, she quickly started to fix things up, practically moving on instict. It was refreshing to do things. though she did accidently break a few stems, out of practice.

It will be slow, but she has a possible path to improovment.

APswap AU: Subcon forest & Sandy Sails.

Subcon Forest, a name many haven't heard unless in tales told in whispers around a campfire, otherwise known as the Forest of Lies the Subcon Forest is an overgrown forested area covered in a thick sheet of pack ice featuring some of the largest trees in its area with the largest reaching over 55 meters tall. It was once a minor power during the medieval era but circumstances involving wayward rituals, out of control magic and basic jealousy have caused a catastrpohy.

The Small Desert Settlement of Sandville has had some ups and downs, with the locals desperate for money they banded together and created a scam-um uh, I mean tourist attraction known as Sandy Sails.

Subcon major characters:

Princess Vanessa was the former wife of King Micheal Juvitz and the current ruler of Subcon's Ice wastes, she is a ruthless ruler although she deeply cares about her suspects (the dwellers) quite a lot. In life Vannie was a niave and sensitive sort and she fell for Micheal, in death Vanessa is a ruthless sort, haunting her portion of Subcon giving royal directives to Dwellers to do her bidding.

Prince Luka was Micheal's brother and a much quieter and polite sort than his brother, he was charming and very creative with a passion for animals and plants. Luka had Rizz but now he is trapped in the horizon, possessed by an evil spirit due to a ritual performed by his Brother and forced to interract with the world via his puppets. Problem is he is still alive while being possessed.

King Micheal Juvitz is the ruler of Subcon manor and a massive overarching threat to everything else in the forest, he is directly related to every incident involved in Subcon's dramatic downfall. First by trying to kill Luka in a botched ritual (who barely survived by a thread) and then by having his wife burned at the stake when a misunderstanding caused him to accuse Vanessa of being unfaithful to him.

Toilets of Doom is a pair of sentient outhouses nearby to where Subcon village is located, he has to be awoken via a sacrifice and once he is awoken fighting him is Jane and Laura's only option, the second one has Laura's soul trapped in it and must be battled to retrieve that.

The Dwellers are spirits of the original Subcon Forest before the incident.

Sandy Sails major characters:

The villagers of Sandville are while a group of scumbags are often very informative about their desert home and are often not seen outside the village unless on a Sandmobile or on Camel, They are friendly and can be helpful but are found by the most part either scolding prideful tourists or trying to sell their wares.

The Narrator is the, well, Narator of the Ancient Clock Tower, he speaks in a posh British accent and is often very snarky. Not much else is known about him.

Bird companion is a small yellow bird which can be directed to grab items.

Mafia Archeoligist : The Mafia Archeoligists are a mafia group who recently showed up to visit the ruins to take samples, artifacts and document the huge ruins. Why they aren't overtly hostile they can be rude and brash towards the Nomads which only seems to reinfoce the fact that this was maybe not such a good idea after all...The only excception to this rule is their boss who is an arsehole.

i'll have to think what each one would like. i don't know how many characters you wanted so i'll try for all LOL.

hat kid: we know she likes cookies but i think she would probably like pasta dishes a lot and meaty foods tho i feel she's open to eating most anything and has a big appetite lol

bow kid: she likes all sorts of food same as hat kid but she's a little more "picky" and probably likes to eat things that are more consistent in texture, like snack foods or pastries. i also think she likes ice cream a lot and her fav flavors are strawberry and mint

mustache girl: probably kinda likes "childish" food like chicken nuggets and macaroni, french fries, ect. tho she probably does like certain types of fish and had to learn to cook it for herself. tho i think her parents used to make shrimp scampi for her so she probably likes that but hasn't had it in a long time.

cooking cat: to me, since she's a chef, she'd probably like very fancy dishes, like filet mignon and halibut fish is probably her fav. tho she's open to trying new things when cooking to experiment. maybe likes fruit salad too!

mafia goons: they like any food that can be made in large quantities, like cooked meats, fish and different types of vegetables tho sadly they're not very good at preparing them most of the time.. they also are probably fond of bread.

mafia boss: of course i think he'd like Italian food and gets VERY upset if someone prepares it in an improper way. favorites being italian classics like pizza and spaghetti. probably a garlic bread stan though LOL 

dj grooves: he likes lobster, crab and shrimp but i also for some reason think he likes soft pretzels ? lol i also think he likes boba tea and blueberries

the conductor: he's kinda basic and likes simpler stuff like typical dinner foods of steak, mashed potatoes. for some reason i think he'd be a sucker for strawberry cheesecake i dunno.

moon penguins: they like all sorts of fish but also i like to think they're a bit different from irl penguins in that they're omnivores so they're quite fond of different types of fruit and often like smoothies and such. probably also like sushi and other foods with raw fish

express owls: they probably eat things similar to irl owls do except they like their foods well prepared prior to eating. not to say that they can't sometimes eat stuff raw but most prefer to have their food prepared in a dish. most of them also will eat vegetables and salads too. they also probably like foods they can eat on the go since they seem to be always working.

snatcher: i know canonically he likes bacon and breakfast foods so he probably also likes pancakes and fruit parfaits. probably even likes waffles and sausage to eat as well LOL. tho i've always taken him as someone who likes tea and sugar cookies too

dwellers: they were kids so their favorite foods were probably things that were very sugary LOL like candies and cereal. and snack foods like cookies, crackers and chips. probably also liked to eat sandwiches and soup foods too. and cake!

subcon minions: similar to the dwellers, probably. y'know picture anything that a kid would prefer to eat if they had the choice. probably some are a bit more on the health side and like some vegetables they can dip in ranch and stuff

queen vanessa: we know she liked cookies from her diary so that was probably one of her favorites. tho she probably enjoyed being spoiled with fancy meals and eating desserts and candies, probably ate bon bons when she could lol

nomads: they are shown to eat eggs so definitely any dishes that incorporate the eggs. though i think they like dishes that have rice and veggies and beans and all sorts of things. they love to share food with each other i think, very much a friendly group

twilight goats/goats: the goats i feel eat a lot of veggies like irl goats. they like corn and carrots a lot and will also eat eggs from the bird house. they will eat meat sometimes but not often ?

the empress: i feel like she likes rice with beef stew or sometimes curry. also likes dumplings a lot, her favorites being beef and pork ones. she also has a bit of a sweet tooth and enjoys a nice bit of pumpkin pie or carrot cake.

metro cats: given all the food stalls they have, it seems a lot of them like fast food and things that require little prep to make. they seem to be busy and on the go all the time so they probably want to eat things that are ready to go. also like canned meats and milk.

walrus captain: he likes a lot of ready made foods and take out foods, especially given the take out containers that surround him. he does like fish and squid as well clam chowder sometimes. tho he appreciates it when the seals make him food.

seal crew: they love fish of course but a lot of them also like shaved ice and ice cream. they like anything that's sweet and surprisingly love food with veggies too.

if i forgot anyone i'm sorry LOLLL i tried to remember at the very least the most important canon character but i can do lesser ones too…

Broken Cursed AU Drabble

So here is another of my AU fanfic gifts! This one is for a brand new AU on tumblr that I’ve been into called Broken Curse AU by @zoestarlings.

I had so many ideas on what to write for this one, so I decided to write my own headcanon on how the curse was broken. If you’d like to see me write more for this AU let me know.

I do like this AU so if you want to see more of this one I’d be glad to write for this AU. I’ve done it before with other AU’s so I wouldn’t mind doing it again.

Hat Kid stared at a book with her eyes as wide as saucers. She was glued to the book she obtained from a Time Rift on the border of Subcon Forest and the Subcon Manor.  Her eyes widened when she saw something that seemed interesting. Once she finished, Hat Kid closed the book and looked at the distance leading to Queen Vanessa’s manor.

A determined glare formed on the young girl’s face as she held the book and marched back to Queen Vanessa’s manor. As she ran, two Subconites saw the young alien girl going towards the manor.

“Newbie! Hey Newbie! Where are you going?!” One of the subconites shouted. Hat Kid didn’t listen, she just kept running.

“Newbie! Stop! You're going to her place!” The other Subconite shouted. Still, Hat Kid didn’t listen and it was at that time the Subconites dashed to Snatcher’s tree.

Speaking of Snatcher, the soul-stealing ghost was reading a book until he heard footsteps running. Snatcher slowly looked up from his book to see his minions looking tired from running to look for him.

“She’s heading to the manor!” The Subconites shouted.

Snatcher dropped his book realizing who was going to the manor and dashed off. “Why is she going there?” He asked.

“We don’t know!” One of the Subconites replied as they followed their boss to the Manor.

Hat Kid was in front of the manor, and gulped as memories of her first time being here made her shiver. She looked at the book and gave a look of determination before going through the cellar to enter the manor that way. “Okay, I’m looking for something glowing in a red aura.” Hat Kid whispered to herself. She stopped as she was now in the familiar manor hallways. Nothing seemed different and was the same just as the last time she visited. “But where in the manor could it be?”

Hat Kid opened every door in the hallway, but everything was the same as it was. She went upstairs hoping there was something she missed, however, she didn’t notice that the evil corrupted Queen Vanessa heard her and now was making her way toward the young girl.

Once up the stairs, Hat Kid turned and saw a locked door that she didn’t notice the first time she traveled into the manor. 

Hat Kid gasped hearing the familiar cackle of the queen. 

“Where ARE you?” Queen Vanessa asked. Quickly, Hat Kid dashed to the closest room, the nursery!

Once inside, Hat Kid hid underneath the crib as the footsteps echoed throughout the room.

“Come on out! I have a warm batch of cookies for us to share!” Vanessa called out.

Hat Kid scooted a bit farther but glanced up to see a key tapped underneath the crib. She grabbed it and now just had to wait for the Queen to be far away.

Once the footsteps faded, Hat Kid escaped from the nursery and quickly went to the locked door. “Come on. Come on.” She repeated as she fiddled with the key.

The lock dropped and Hat Kid laughed in excitement as she dashed through the door. In front of the young girl was a black and red crown glowing sitting on the table. She walked up to it and hesitated about grabbing the crown wondering what it would do to her. Hat Kid took one touch and the aura around the crown moved but didn’t hurt.

Seeing it was no harm, Hat Kid grabbed the crown and got a closer look at it. “Is this it?” Hat Kid asked.

Queen Vanessa chuckled, and Hat Kid gasped, turning around to see the corrupted queen right behind her. “There you are!” She hissed. The queen launched an ice attack toward the young girl, who missed the attack diving to the ground and rolling. Hat Kid ran past the queen, making her way out of the manor in hopes to find Snatcher.

Ice was shot next to Hat Kid making her squeak as Vanessa laughed. Hat Kid tried to make an exit, but the queen blocked it. Hat Kid screamed and ran the other way to escape the ice queen. However, more ice circled the young girl leaving her trapped.

“I got you now!” Queen Vanessa sang. She let out a chuckle as she loomed over the young girl. 

Hat Kid was running out of options. At this point she was trapped, and soon enough would be the newest ice statue in Vanessa’s. Then Hat Kid looked down at the crown and slowly up at the queen ready to freeze the young girl. It was the only best idea she got, but she put the crown in front of her almost like a shield. The Queen laughed and launched her ice powers at the crown causing it to freeze.

Hat Kid’s arms started to become literally frozen, making the young girl cry in pain. Queen Vanessa laughed as she continued to freeze the young girl.

CRACK

Soon the crown shattered causing the aura to go from red and black to red and purple. 

“What?” Vanessa asked. “No! NO!” She screamed.

Outside of the manor, Snatcher and the Subconites were halfway towards the manor, till Snatcher stopped as he felt a pain in his chest. He slowly collapsed to the ground as he screamed. “B-Boss?” One subconite asked.

“GAH! What’s happening?” Snatcher groaned as he looked at his claws forming back into hands as he slowly shrunk back into a human shape. The purple began to fade into brown hair and white skin, as what was left was a purple coat, and underneath said coat was the Prince.

The Subconites ran towards the Prince, who groaned and rubbed his head. Prince Snatcher slowly got up but collapsed realizing he couldn’t feel his legs just yet. “Uh…Boss?” The other subconite asked. “Are you okay?”

“I-” The second Snatcher spoke, his voice lacking its bellow. “I don’t know?” He struggled to get up as he looked at the Manor seeing some of the ice melt. “Kiddo!” Snatcher gasped..

The ice melted around Hat Kid as she looked in horror to see the Queen shrink down and go from a black mass to what she looked like from the storybook; Long messy blonde hair and a beautiful, yet torn green dress with a diamond pattern.

Hat Kid looked down at the crown and saw the dark aura fade away leaving behind a rusted and broken crown. Soon she heard footsteps coming up the steps and saw it was the Prince, who collapsed on the floor. He slowly looked up and Hat Kid was confused about who this was.

“K-kiddo. I-it’s me.” Snatcher stuttered.

“S-Snatcher?” Hat Kid asked. Snatcher nodded in reply. Hat Kid slowly walked over to him and touched his cheek with her finger. “B-but I-I thought you died?” She asked.

Snatcher sighed. “I thought so too kiddo. Turns out the curse affected me too.” He explained. Hat Kid hugged her BFF, who slowly hugged the young girl back. His eyes then looked at Vanessa, who surprisingly was still alive and back to normal too.

“Snatcher?” Hat Kid asked again. “Do you know anything about the curse?”

“No kiddo. Vanessa told me nothing about it. I saw it myself that fateful day.” Snatcher explained. He slowly walked over to Vanessa and looked down with a glare. It was hundreds of years since he saw her like this, it almost feels like a dream. “So kiddo, what do you want to do with her?” 

Hat Kid looked at Vanessa, hearing her let out a groan. Despite everything she had done to Snatcher, to Subcon, and her; Hat Kid sighed and went up to Vanessa and pulled her up. Snatcher’s eyes widened in horror.

“Kiddo?! What are you doing?” Snatcher asked.

“Look, I know she destroyed everything, but locking her up and imprisoning her like she did to you doesn’t seem fair!” Hat Kid explained. Snatcher was taken aback at what the kid was telling him. “She doesn’t need to be forgiven, but she does deserve another chance at living a life.”

Snatcher was debating in his mind. On one hand he wanted to lock up Vanessa for the rest of her days, but on the other hand, Hat Kid was right. Vanessa didn’t need to be forgiven of her actions, but now the two of them can grow and live their own lives. 

Something that Vanessa had always wanted…

“Okay kiddo, you win this one.” Snatcher whispered. Hat Kid gave a small smile and three teleported back to Hat Kid’s ship.

AHiT Analysis: What Does Snatcher Think of Vanessa?

For my first write-up on A Hat in Time, I've decided to go with a topic that I think is very interesting due to its ambiguity, and that I've seen some pretty wildly different takes on: What does Snatcher think of Vanessa? This will be an analysis of what I believe to be most likely based on all of the evidence I've been able to identify.

[This post will cover the base game and the Seal the Deal DLC. The canon status of Vanessa’s Curse is dubious, but I don’t think it necessarily contradicts what I’m talking about here. If there’s interest I can go over it in another post.]

In the base game, Snatcher does not talk about or directly acknowledge Vanessa a single time. His contract instructs Hat Kid to go to the manor, but doesn't mention Vanessa at all.

You would think there just isn’t enough information for a conclusion in that case, but I think what exists is actually pretty illuminating.

In Chapter 1's storybook Time Rift, the Mafia Man explains how it was created: he was hit by a falling Time Piece, and the rift was created from his memories.

The Tale of Queen Vanessa involves two characters, so it could feasibly have been created from either (or both) of their memories. However, I believe it was created from Snatcher's.

The physical location of the rift is in the ruined area behind Snatcher's tree house, practically on the opposite side of the Subcon Woods map from Vanessa's manor. Environmental details in the level itself are suggestive of Snatcher, with things like the thorny vines, armchair, rug, and potion bottles appearing. Conversely, no assets from Vanessa's manor are present.

Despite this, the book is, by its title, about Vanessa, and is illustrated with heavy focus on her, while the prince is in the background in most pages he appears on.

The first pages go out of their way to establish Vanessa as a kind person. She and the prince are happily in love, and she's beloved by the children who would later become the Dwellers and Subconites when the kingdom freezes. In his memories, there’s no indication anything was wrong with their relationship, even though diary entries in the manor show her behavior towards the prince had been controlling well before the incident depicted in the book. Snatcher remembers Vanessa and his relationship with her fondly.

Even though the book is made from Snatcher's memories, it first shows a scene where the prince appears to be seeing the florist, with huge emphasis on how heartbroken Vanessa is, and then reveals that this wasn't the case. Snatcher doesn't think the misunderstanding was unreasonable on Vanessa's behalf; the framing of the sequence legitimizes her interpretation of it by showing it from her perspective first.

Snatcher seems to believe he deeply hurt Vanessa, and views her becoming cursed as a tragedy arising from a simple and avoidable misunderstanding. Vanessa wrote about chaining him in one of her diary entries, meaning his death was at least partly premeditated, but from his perspective, the events depicted were totally incidental. Even in the frames where he’s being taken away, Vanessa crying is still in the foreground. The last two pages parallel each other, suggesting that what happened to Vanessa isn’t any less terrible than what happened to him.

Snatcher appears nowhere in Chapter 3 Act 4; the closest he comes to acknowledging Vanessa is sending a Subconite to tell Hat Kid she isn’t allowed to use her hats. This was likely done for gameplay reasons, like the Ice Hat interfering with stealth gameplay and the Sprint Hat making it easier to outrun Vanessa if the player is spotted, but it’s still an in-character decision by Snatcher.

This is one of two times he limits Hat Kid’s ability to access her hats, the other being in his boss fight. In this case, he wants Hat Kid to retrieve the Time Piece from the attic, so it’s strange he would make it harder for her. I can think of two reasons:

Snatcher just doesn’t want Hat Kid to know anything about him and is trying to limit her use of the Dweller Mask, which reveals secrets. As it’s a mask, by technicality this is pointless and she can use it anyway.

Snatcher doesn’t want Hat Kid to hurt Vanessa. He doesn’t take her umbrella away, but he doesn’t take it in his own boss fight, either.

As Snatcher doesn’t talk about Vanessa at all otherwise, and she only appears in one level, this is all the information in the base game.

In Death Wish mode, Snatcher never sends Hat Kid back to the manor, but he has four pieces of idle dialogue that reference Vanessa, although he never mentions her specifically by name.

"You know, they always say love is a warm feeling... But in my experience it's been positively chilling."

"You might think the embrace of death is the coldest thing there is, but I can tell you from experience... it's not."

"Ah, you should have seen her back in the day. Like dynamite with a laser beam, you know."

"We all have a soulmate - supposedly. I mean, I know I do. She's waiting for me! I don't see anyone waiting for you, though."

The first two are similar. They’re both jokes (if you could call them that) about his death, and seem to have a bitter tone to them, but they’re a bit ambiguous, particularly the second one. It sounds like he’s saying Vanessa is colder than death, but the snow coming in through the window in the second to last storybook page suggests he froze to death due to Vanessa’s magic, so is he really referring to her here? It’s unclear.

The third one, just in case you didn’t know, is a reference to a Queen song about a call girl. Snatcher mentions his ex four times in the entire game and one of those times is to tell us how hot she was. There’s no ironic or sarcastic undertone here. He still thinks this. Moving on.

In the last one, though, he explicitly calls her his soulmate and acknowledges she’s still looking for him. The line isn’t read in a way that particularly suggests he’s being sarcastic about it, either. As a matter of fact, he’s jokingly telling Hat Kid she might not have a soulmate, in contrast to him.

Due to the limited evidence available and the ambiguity of his Death Wish dialogue, I don’t think other interpretations are unreasonable, but the bulk of evidence suggests that Snatcher doesn’t hate Vanessa: he cares about and misses her, to the extent that the storybook about her made from his own unconscious memories doesn’t acknowledge any of the things she wrote about in her diary.

Oh The Humanity! AU  Masterpost

Hi! Making a masterpost for this AHiT AU so y’all have one place to just find all the important bits that I and other folks in the fandom have done for this AU! Everything will be under the read more

AU Premise: Snatcher steals a time piece from Hat Kid and Bow Kid to mess with them. He tries to use it during one of the Death Wish fights, but turns out the particular time piece he stole was faulty/ something was up with it/ he broke it in a weird way that really messed it up. Because of this, when he broke the piece, instead of rewinding time back a few minutes, it sent his form back about 300 years, returning him to human form, but with all his present memories. Now, he’s stuck as a human as and has to wait for the Time Traveling Alien Kids to fix the time piece and return him to normal, while also being forced to confront his past.

Moonjumper is taking care of Subcon. They do things way differently than snatcher but they’re trying their best. 

Cooking Cat comes by to cook and help out. She’s very motherly to everyone. She’s taken Mu on as an apprentice, so she’s usually there with her whenever she drops by.

The birds are wrapping up a collab movie. The main cast are invited to the premier party, as Hat and Bow acted in the film. Snatcher gets to wear a nice suit and he has some interaction with the conductor and grooves. Link Link

at multiple points, MJ checks in with snatcher for status reports on how subcon is doing. This is usually where their bonding moments happen and they become less and less awkward with each interaction.

At some point around mid to late story, they find out that Subcon is starting to freeze over again. Snatcher was the only one who could melt the ice so this now gives them a time limit.

Hat kid’s a good leader, but she can often be reckless and stubborn. Significantly more chaotic of the two space gremlins. She’s a lot like snatcher in a lot of ways, and because of that they are constantly butting heads but they get along better as Snatcher both gets used to being human and grows fonder of the two girls. She’s a bit closer to Snatcher, having been the most adamant about being his friend (initially out of spite but yknow) and they have a lot in common. 

People frequently mistake snatcher for being Hat Kid and Bow Kid’s visiting father. They usually comment on how much he looks like he could be HK’s biological dad. Both are in denial of this throughout the main timeline of this au. It’s a running gag. Link

snatcher is sometimes completely oblivious when he enters Dad Mode sometimes

Bow, on the other hand is generally a bit more shy and careful than hat kid is. She tends to take the passenger seat, taking on a more supportive role. She’s also way more polite. In this sense, she has more in common with moonjumper, and gets along with them quite well and she frequently goes to visit him the most often, on her own.

 Her and snatcher’s relationship kind of parallels snatcher’s relationship with MJ. Snatcher, having once been a big jerk to these kids, is now trying to teach bow to take more of a leading role and be more confident.

as this au takes place not long after the Clearing Incident comic, Snatcher and MJ’s relationship is a bit awkward in the beginning. Over the course of the AU their relationship would build up to be more brotherly.

Danny Phantom Surprise Dads

An idea that popped into my head involving my childhood favorite Danny Phantom and spiting the shit out of the creator Bitch Hartman.

Let's give Danny some father figures with questionable backgrounds.

How this will work is simple. They have to share an aspect similar to our lovable ghost boy or can relate. Superpowers(preferably ghost or spiritual related), not human or previously human, socially awkward, some role in good or evil: Remember the hour special Ultimate Enemy if you need any clarification, etc.

Here are my picks.

Snatcher- A Hat In Time

Yep! We're starting with the soul eating ghostly noodle of Subcon Forest. So far, I've never seen Danny with a father figure even close to a ghost much less. A VERY disappointing fact despite the fan art and fanfiction with all sorts of dad! characters like @the-stove-is-on-fire 's Spiderdad and Dadpool, or the multiple Irondad fics on AO3 especially "How Tony keeps adopting Ghost sensitive kids". So my Snatcher choice is viable.

The bean will have someone to help him get a better hold of his powers and Snatcher having someone to relate too. If you don't know or haven't played Hat In Time, I will just say that Snatcher was a good loving person until a traumatic experience turned him into this wisecracking malevolent soul eating ghost.

Cracking jokes can be a coping mechanism btw, even the morbid ones.

For alignment, the Subcon Snatcher is Chaotic Neutral. He only really causes trouble in his domain which is Subcon Forest, he cares about his minions to an extent (he uses them for one attack in his boss battle) and kills any trespassers on his land but do give them a chance to live through contracts.

The bonding will no doubt start out slow especially what point of time Danny is, the biggest is when he has his Ice Powers. But I can see Snatcher being someone Danny can go to if life in Amity gets hard to handle. A driving point to help Danny is so the halfa doesn't end up like him.

Also, I just want to see Snatcher and Danny a Ghostly Wail like combo or the ghostly noodle beating the shit out of Vlad. Bigger bonus is if Hat Kid's around, Danny has a little sister figure he can cause mischief with while giving Snatcher a headache. Or all three team up and prank everyone.

Sukuna Ryomen

Now you can say I'm insane for picking him. One of the Ultimate Evils from Jujustu Kaisen but hear me out.

Once again, we have a character closer to the ghostly spectrum specifically a Curse. Curses are a type of entity born from negative emotions such as: sorrow, angry, fear, etc.

Sukuna was once human before becoming the 4 armed, two faced, tattoo King of Curses. After a 1000 years, Sukuna at the moment is split into 20 fingers with Itadori Yuji as his vessel.

Encountering someone like Danny is definitely gonna grab Sukuna's attention. Danny's assortment of powers but also pun loving attitude in battle will drive him wild. Interest is there but just like Snatcher, it'll take time for a bond to form.

The jumpstart would be a friendship with Itadori which involves goofing off or training. And seeing a good look at Danny's personality, the times our ghost boy gets awfully quiet do the alarm bells ring. Think Sukuna would rather have a happy Danny than a depressed one.

Sukuna would be a huge ass tsundere about his growing bond with Danny before it hits him like: "Damn it, now I'm attached to this brat." Once again, the Ultimate Enemy episode will play a huge factor. Considering where he is, Sukuna definitely wouldn't want Danny to end up like him.

Also mentioning the Pariah Dark episodes, you can bet Sukuna would be impressed upon Danny practically being the King of the Ghost Zone due to the rules. Would Danny get a Domain Expansion similar to Sukuna if his powers adapt the King of Curses'?

Sparring matches would be a definite and Vlad would be so screwed if he did something to Danny. I'm pretty sure an angry four arm, four eyed, stomach mouth horror of a father figure be haunting the fruit loop might the perfect repellent.

Plus Danny has a Two in One deal! A father figure in Sukuna and a brother with Itadori! If Sukuna did get out, would he adopt Itadori under circumstances? 🤔

Also, I sorta had this peculiar idea now that I see we have two ghostly father figures. Can Danny's ghost form adapt from a paternal relationship with a ghost or supernatural entity? His power allows him to adapt against opponents and even copy specific abilities so why not his physical form too?(Looking at you Bitch Hartman.)

I can actually see Danny's form slightly shift or even evolve depending on the current bond. For Snatcher, he could have minor fire magic with a slightly shadow appearance, his hair be messy with violet tips or his suit becoming a cloak to mimic shadows.

And for Sukuna, his own tribal like tattoos, slits under his eyes that could become eyes, or even four arms too! His clothes could shift to something like hakama trousers, an obi or yutakata. Inherited powers being his own Domain Expansion and curse fire.

Snatcher Unpopular opinion

I'll do all because another person asked for Snatcher as well

First impression: I first saw him through Mak's art so I kind of already knew of him as a prince divorce ghost man. I think I got a sense of him as more melancholy than he actually is initially, since that was before I watched any playthroughs.

Impression now: He's a huge drama queen and very funny

Favorite moment: When he's wearing the mail hat and shouts Good MOOOORNINGGG, that's so cute

Idea for a story: Most recent idea was a probably pretentious conceptualization of the ice death of Subcon as a metaphor for grief and the idea of him as a ghost actually letting go of his connection to the forest because staying attached to it was causing more pain and preventing him from moving forward. This was born from wondering about a story where there is no solution to Vanessa, and she keeps existing and spreading the freeze forever, so he either has to keep lingering there in permanent stasis against her or let the forest die and chart the course of a new future elsewhere. Will I write this? Debatable.

Unpopular opinion: I think people take his characterization in either direction too seriously. The amount of damn discourse about whether he's bad or good deep down and whether writers should or shouldn't write him like this or that, like tbh i dont fuckn care. Explore his character for fun. Make him more evil, make him redeemed, make him complicated. He's a pool noodle in a game with cartoon violence. It's whatever.

Favorite relationship: Parental Snatcher, in general

Favorite headcanon: Not particularly original, but the idea that the majority of his mannerisms are holdovers from his alive days, and he was literally just Like That. Also that losing the boss fight was a choice and that whole thing was his roundabout way of expressing reluctance to beat the kids, but he couldn't be normal about it bc he's stupid.

I'm back

I just want to say that they have not enough fic of the Moonboy. I may be a Snatch lover but there have also a big place in my heart for MJ (plus the fact that I will make MJ route before Snatcher in ADIT because he is a pure boi).

You are exhausted. It's one of those days you hate because it's sooo hot outside. And it's been two weeks since the last time you have 'a cool day' (a day in which the temperature is not too hot or too cold). Luckly for you, you spend a good time at Subcon Forest each days. This place have many trees (even if they are more dead than anything) but the heart of the forest is also in a perpetual night so this place is more pleasant in a time in which the desert and Mafia Town are literally 'hell' places. Plus you have a little further the 'ice biome' like you like to call it. But the last time you tried to go and 'cool off' you have seen a headless statue at the distance. Even if it was far from you, you just decided to return in the forest while you say to yourself "Nope. Not today!". And your 'task', like your boss (aka: Snatch the noodle ghost) love to call don't help. Every day you have something to do : searching for a lost subconite (every day), murder the fire spirits (once a week), delivering mail (once - twice a week), playing with Hat, Bow and Mu (once - twice a day and even more if you make a sleepover), be present for the Death Wishes... So many things to do. Every days you have to run in all Subcon Forest. At the end, when you have finish your job, you want to jump in the puddle of water in front of Snatcher's house.

Anyways, you finished your work earlier today. So now it's time for the best part of the day, it's time to go see your boyfriend Moony. It's now more than one month you started to go on dates with him. Due to his gentleman attitude, he brings you to fancy restaurants. But you always wonders something : where do his money came from. He is a corpse and dead livings have no use of money after their life. He is indeed a prince (or was), sure, but this fact don't stop you of thinking.

Today, you want to ask him for a date. Normally, it's always him who ask. But this time you want to change things. And also you are worried that he will run out of money with all the stuff he buys to you. And you have an idea.

You know oh so well the path that brings you to your beloved. With no time you arrived at the 'Mj's forest part'. And he didn't seem to have sense your presence or he will be already running (or floating) at you.

"MOONY!?" You call, almost screaming at the trees.

With no time he answers you "Darling! You are here?! Can you wait a little?"

"Are you busy? I can pass at another time if you want." You say, a bit disappointed.

"Nonono- I already finished, I just have to make this thing here and-. Ok!" He mumbles to himself

You were trying to watch the tops of the trees, hoping you will be able to see where he is hiding. And you see him, going down slowly at you like an angel. You cannot keep your mounth shut by how etherial he is. Your jaw is now wide open. Even it's been now one month you date him, and more you know him, you cannot help yourself to fall in love harder. Mj's body is now floating at some feets from the ground, he watch your stunning face with amusement. His small chuckle brings you to the reality.

"What is this visit worth to me?" He say with his oh-so-lovely smile.

"I-..." You shook your head for escaping your daydream. "I just want to talk with you about our next date"

"Hmm? I didn't set out where will we going next time. I'm little busy with Snatcher these days. Sorry..."

"No! I... Uh... I was thinking with the whole thing that you are always the one who invite me and pay for fancy restaurant..." You start shyly.

"You don't like it?" He asks with a concerned voice.

"No! Uh... Yes...Uh... I like it but I was asking to myself where all this money come from 'cause you're a corpse..." You stammer.

"Darling! I'm a prince!" He says while a small laugh.

"I know but... I cannot stop myself to think about that" You tell to him

"My little MC, you know that I will buy the world for you if I was capable. Don't worry about the money I have more than you though. And you deserve this my sweet doll. You deserve all the money of the world." He answer smiling smugly

The fact that he calls you doll -even if he calls you that ANYTIME he see you- make you blush a little. You shook your head for trying to make disappear the blushing (the keyword is trying 'cause you're always blushing with him). "...anyway! I was thinking maybe for our next date we ... can make -a- a movie night... in my spaceship and... m-make a sleepover ?..." You say so shyly that you are asking at yourself if he heard it. You are now just a blushing mess that want to hide somewhere.

Moonjumper sits on the ground to look into your eyes and asks "Is that an invitation ?"

"....yeah .... I think... B-but if you are busy we can make this another time...." You continue always blushing.

"I accept ! And no need to be so shy with me, my doll." He says happily. "How about tomorrow evening?"

"o-ok" You say shyly to him. Peck! Why it's always difficult to say things with him. Anyways, you succeed to ask him and it's truly something.

You stay with him for one hour, watching him re-arranging his home, sometimes telling him some stuff like the new restaurant you have seen in Mafia Town, the ideas of Conductor and Grooves for their next movie, the book you are reading when you are alone in your spaceship... Sometimes he answer you, sometimes he just hums. After some time, you decide to call it a day and to return in your spaceship after saying "see you tomorrow".

The next day you awake from your sleep, your morning alarm already ringing. You take a quick shower and prepare breakfast when you remember something you have totally forgot. You have a date with your boyfriend. Remembering this make your face all blushy and you even almost chokes on your breakfast.

"Just don't think about Moony" you mumble to yourself. But then your brain thinks about him and his charming persona so you blush even more. In fact you are already as red as a cherry.

After finishing your breakfast you go to the forest making Snatcher's work.

"Boss ! I found the subconite !" You say to Snatcher while you walk at his tree-house. "He was stuck at the swamp." It's now the third subconite you found lost in the forest in a week. Geez, they cannot stay at their work. Snatcher, already busy with one of his books (like always), waves his hand for showing you he have somewhat understand, and dismiss you in the same time. But you stay, because you want to ask something, and the simple fact you're not going out bother the purple man.

"What !?" He asks you a bit angry while placing a bookmark at the page he was reading.

"I need to ask something !" You answer

"I'm already listening" He tells you, proving you that he is really listening to your request for once.

"Cool ! So, I need your opinion for something. What type of movies MJ likes. I don't know what to show him and I'm thinking because you are his other half maybe you know. Hattie have inviting you and him for watching movies, right?" You tell maybe a bit too fast because you are just excited.

He closes his eyes and inhale. "Listen! It's not because he is my other half that I know all the things about him. You are his boy/girlfriend so it's more YOU who must know that." He says pointing at you with one of his finger. "And yes, the hatted brat invited me and Moonboy at her 'movie night party' so many times. Just don't show him a horror movie or he will scream like he will be killed for the second time. I also recommend to you to not show him a dramatic film or he will cry during all the movie."

"So no drama and no horror movies. I got it ! Thanks Snatch, you're the best !" You say happily while waving to him to say goodbye.

"Whatever... And don't call me 'Snatch'!" He yells from his chair at you while you are already far enough for not to be killed (in the figurative sens of the word).

So now it's currently the evening. You though about making a dinner for your boyfriend but you remembered he is a corpse so he don't need to eat (and also because you talked with him today in the forest and said that he will be alright). Anyway, for killing the time you though about what you will wear, took a shower and checked if everythings was alright (at least ten times for an hour). It will be the first time you will spend a night with your bf at home so you are stressed, anxious but also happy. For movies you choose classics : Disney movies. They have a lot of romantics stories with princes and princesses and you hope that your bf will like (and also searching movies in space is kind of looking for a needle in a hayshack).

So now you wait (and checked again a last time). You know that he will not be late, he is always at time for dates. But you cannot let your eyes see another thing than the needles of your watch on your arm. You even seem to hear the low ticktock of it.

Then you sense a little gust of cold wind. It's the signal.

"Hi Moony!" You say showing your more beautiful smile.

"Good evening my beautiful doll! You're splendid tonight!" He say while appearing from his glitch dimension (yeah I headcannon that he can go in a glitch dimension for long travels)

You blush and you whisper "You're the beautiful here". He place his hand on your head and reply "No you!". Like always you cannot win this argument. Then he grab something hiding in his coat and give you a small plush of your favorite animal (you can choose, but for me it's cat and red panda).

"Sorry to not give you a decent gift. The last time I gifted flowers... You know what happen" He tells to you. But for you this is more than a decent gift. So you do what your brain say, you hug Moonjumper and tell him that you are happy.

You stay some minutes like this. But you remember that you have a movie night to do. You take his hand and lead him to your 'movie place' (that is just many pillows, a pile of blankets, some bowls of popcorn and a pile of movies in front of your TV.). You said to him to make himself at home while you pick a movie. And you don't see your favorite Disney's movie (again you can choose the movie) so you dive (literally) your head first in one of your closet where your movies should be. Meanwhile your boyfriend Moony have set his eyes first one your little form disappearing in the closet, then on the delicious pop-corn you prepared for this occasion. What is this thing, again? He saw that when the hatted child (Hattie) invited him at a party. He picks one piece of pop-corn and hold it between his fingers for inspecting this. But then you find the precious movie and you come out from your closet. You see him with his pop-corn.

"Moony? Did something bother you?" You ask while walking to the TV

"Yes... I've seen this when I was at the hatted child's party..." He says.

"What? Wait! You don't know what is pop-corn". He shakes his head at your ask. "Eat it" You tell him. He tilts his head and look at you with a confusing and surprised look. So you grab a bunch of pop-corn and swallow it in no time. It's when he sees that you're not dying (so it's not poisonous) that he eat the small pop-corn. At the first time, anything happen, then a big smile appears on his face.

"You like it?" You ask. He continue to smile for saying yes. "You can eat more. All of it is for you"

"But you?" He ask a bit concerned about the fact that you will not eat

"If I eat all of the pop-corn I'm sure my dentist will not be happy". You reply while turning on the TV and putting the channel on 'DVD player'.

Soon, the movie starts. You sit next to your boyfriend. But then, the corpse start to watch you rather than the TV and thinks about something.

"My Angel?" He ask you

"Yeah?" You reply, not paying attention to the nickname he told you because you are so absorb on the movie, even if it started just some minutes ago.

"Perhaps it will be weird but can you rather sit on my lap?" He asks you shyly

You take some time before realising what he ask you but when your brain understand this...oh god... You are now as red as a cherry. You turn your head at the opposite direction because you don't want your Moony to see how you are madly blushing.

"....Yea...Sure". You say before you sit on his lap.

He traps you small form between his arm, hugging you tightly like a small child do with a plushy, but also paying attention that it's not too tight "Much better~!" He whisper to your ear. He cuddle you, resting his head in your shoulder while you are just a blushing mess who want to crawl in a hole like a mouse.

But after some time, you are used to his cuddling. He can be cold because he is a living corpse, but the heat of your body plus the blanket warms you and your boyfriend. One hour watching the movie and you start to be sleepy, even you miss the end because you have somewhat fell asleep on MJ's lap. It's at the credits that Moony realize that you are sleeping quietly.

"Awww~! What a cute and beautiful sight!" He says to himself "It's a pity that I have not a camera for taking a photo of this cutie~~".

He grabs the TV remote control press the big red button, turning off the TV. He then pick you in his arms (like a baby) and walks (floats) to your bed. He gently lie you down puts the blanket on you. But when he is about to floats away, you grab the sleeve of his coat.

"What is it little puppet?!" He asks you gently and also smiling (*cough*like an idiot*cough) due to your cuteness.

"Can you stay for the night, please?" You ask after yawning.

"Anything for you princess~~" He reply. He gets in your blanket and lie next to you (or maybe he lie behind you and you lie on him if you have a small bed). He gently pats your head with one of his hands while you hug him like a baby koala. Then, he place a chaste kiss on your forehead.

"Goodnigh' Moony... Love you..." You say half-sleeping.

"Goodnight my little MC. I love you too" He whisper before falling asleep.

A Bloom In Time Ch13 Dealing With The Past P2

"WHEN were you going to tell me about this exactly?!," Snatcher whisper screamed at the little girl.

Finding out Poppy was ok was a MAJOR relief of the girls' heads and Snatcher had allowed her to be lead into his home where she could rest for a small while. Currently she was sitting on the footrest he never really used since, well he had no legs and was slightly scowling picking all the leaves and sticks from her tangled, messy hair. Bow was currently resting and was absolutely THRILLED to discover the thing she thought was a weird plant randomly put on Snatcher's chair was in fact. A cat. And Bow having been raised in the Nyakuza City surrounded by cats was of course adored all things kitten like. She had shouted 'A kitty!' quite loud when Rough Patch woke at the sounds of new comers to his home. Of course being the lovable creature he was, didn't even fight back when the young girl picked him up and held him. He just did was he usually did, lazily lay there and purr as Bow curiously pet his leaves. Snatcher had pulled the little girl aside once he had the chance and demanded to know what the peck was going on around here?! Poppy had also wearily been glancing at the few subconites that had gathered around around and peered curiously at her while she did so, but Snatcher had assured her they wouldn't harm her. Besides, they couldn't even harm a small mushroom even if they tried, let alone a grown woman who once upon a time sold flowers to them at one point.

"Um...B-Boss?" One of his minions had tottered over to him and pointed a hand at Poppy worriedly. "I-Isn't that-"

They were hushed up when Snatcher snapped a deep scowl towards them and hissed. Some of the minions still had their memories after death and it looked like they recognized her as much as he did. "Yes. And if any of you say a word of that to her, you'll be put on 'checking the manor' duty! Not ONE word out of any of you!"

The minion looked suddenly nervous and backed off. "Y-Yes, Sir! No, Boss! Right away!" Before he ran back off towards the small group. Not wanting to risk being put on that duty.

Satisfied he snapped back towards the little girl who looked back up to him without so much as a shread of fear, as if used to his anger by now. "Now what in the pecking world is going through that little head of yours?! She told me you let her fall from the sky like a rock! Are you just an expert at dropping things from the sky, kid?"

She pouted like any child her age would. "I didn't mean to! I didn't know she'd be so heavy for teleporting with me! And she's ok so everything's ok, right?"

......He literally facepalmed himself and dragged his claws down his face before looking back at her. "That ISN'T the point, Kid! You gotta be more CAREFUL with these things. Especially when you KNOW it might hurt someone. I thought you learnt this after you dropped those time peices from the sky TWICE!!"

"HEY!! The mafia broke my outer door! And then Mustache Girl stole them! It's NOT my fault!" She ended her rant by crossing her arms.

"Yeah. Well, you did a fantastic job protecting the time peices. But in any case, WHY did you even bring her here in the first place?!"

Her pout melted a little. "Well...She was acting really weird. Like she was sleeping but her eyes were open and she wasn't saying anything. Grown ups always act so weird. So I thought since you're a grown up too and like to be quiet all the time you can help!"

The innocent smile dawned on her face was what made Snatcher sigh and take a glance over at Poppy who just took another small piece of twig from her hair, scowled and flung it to the outside. Seemed like a good enough reason to a child. And he's seen her to crazier things for wackier reasons than wanting to help someone. But out of ALL the things she could've decided to do she brought him his dead, long lost lov-.....Friend. He groaned reaching a hand up to grip at his head. Out of ALL the crazy things to EVER happen to him THIS was the weirdest. Dying and becoming Ghost King of all of Subcon? Weird but he saw it as just rewards for what Vanessa did. She took everything from him so he took everything from her. Finding out there was a sentiant peice of him trapped in another plane of existance? Ok. But that comes with all the cursed magic that came with him. Having shiny time pieces fall into his forest and having a small alien invade his forest? No big deal. He always suspected life beyond his planet with the moon penguins and being able to visit the sun be a thing. So an alien with weird other worldly powers wasn't too much of a shock when he's already seen so much weirder things over a thousand years. Adopting said alien?.......Well.....He guessed he's always wanted a kid deep down. Vanessa did to and he was happy she was willing to have one with him way, WAY back then. But Vanessa was moving WAY too fast and in the end he did always end up with what he wanted. He was SO thankful Hattie wasn't related to Vanessa in any way. Hiding inside a crate to go on a well deserved vacation after getting his but kicked by said alien? HEY. TICKETS. ARE. EXPENSIVE. PERIOD. There was NO way he was paying 152 pons just for a measly few days on a ship in the middle of no where. Accidentally bringing everyone back to life with a time piece? OK! That one was on him. He could admit that. Those things really were too much trouble and he clearly wasn't thinking straight at the time. Coming face to face with the woman he secretly fell in love with?

........All the guilt and what ifs were still there and he still had nightmares about it every so often. But now she was here and....When he first saw her the hard slap of reality in the face sent a shockwave throughout his being like being trapped in ice again. Then everything came rushing back.....EVERYTHING!! The very first time they officially met when he saw her building her makeshift stand in the square. She was about to fall off her ladder trying to paint the sign above her flowers. And he was passing by at the same time and he couldn't just let an innocent lady fall and hurt herself. So he dropped what he currently had in his hands, ironically a couple wild flowers he picked from the woods for Vanessa, and managed to catch her bridal style before she hit the cobblestone roads.

"H-Hey." His brown eyes looked over her worried for any injury to the woman in his arms. "A-Are you alright, Ma'am? Have you hurt yourself? That was quite a stumble."

She rubbed her head before looking at him. "Nah. I think I'm alriiiiiiii-...IGHT!! T-T-THE PRINCE!?"

Her blue eyes went so wide when she found out she was in the arms of none other than the famous Prince Philip Snider. But that lasted only a moment before the memories were blasting at him faster than he could physically remember. It happened so quick remembering all those things at ounce. He remembered after a while he was curious about the flower stand in town, so whenever he visited Vanessa he would just instead stop by there. At first he wasn't too sure about spending all those pons on the flowers when he could pick wild flowers for free, but when he saw them. He had NEVER seen roses so red. Like the color of the prettiest red paints. Or Tigerlilies with such bright tan petals and deep dark black stripes. Resembling the beast in all it's glory. And lilacs so purple like the twilight at the very beginning of sunrise. Better than any wild flowers he'd ever seen. Vanessa thought so too. And after all at that point in his life he beleived Vanessa deserved nothing but the best and Poppy's flowers were the best he'd ever seen. That's how the two began talking. When he complimented her amazing flowers and she proudly told him all she did to make her hard work so beautiful. And he always admired hard work. Back in his day it was VERY hard for a lady to get a successful career by themselves outside a maid, cook, teacher, or very few they were born in, and as a future leader his life was full of hard work to prepare him to run a country one day. Even when his days from Vanessa's obsession became hard, she was always able to make him smile with her spunky attitude, good advice, or just any of the small things he noticed her doing Vanessa would've never done. Poppy was kind and gave him the patience and space to be himself when vanessa couldn't. Sure they were both stubborn and spoke their minds all the time. But there was a big difference. With Poppy it was when she was often giving the hard truth and her honest opinions on things. Even when she gently tried to tell him the things Vanessa did was unacceptable, it was always her being honest with the intent to help. With Vanessa it was her always giving criticism and demands.

Give her a expensive gift. "...I thought my prince could get me better than this. You're supposed to be pining for my love!" Give her flowers. "These are beautiful. But not as beautiful as me. You shouldn't be trying to compare me to small plants that will lose beauty." Do any lil itty bitty small thing she disapproved of. "Don't slouch over like that reading. Sit formal at all times or you'll ruin you're entire posture when you get older. Are you trying to grow a beard? Shave it. You look better without it. Don't thank the cook again. They are below us and should know their place. In the kitchen to serve ME. I thought you knew better than that!" And then their relationship grew into a casual convo every time he visited, to a good friendship, and then....well at least to him a one sided love. And then the very last conversation they ever had, his one last chance he ever had to tell her how he felt or to do something to save everyone, slapped him hard enough with the guilt to make him scream. All the shock and reality making his self twist into a tight not and suddenly being pulled loose letting it all out. But that wasn't the problem right now. Right now he had to solve a question. What does he do now? This was too early. Way, WAY too early for any talks or to even come up with a proper plan on how to even go about this. Where would he even start?....Well, he guessed he already had done it. When he first came back to his senses after seeing her, he was angry and frustrated. Was fate toying with him again? But then he looked at her and got a good sense it wasn't and just liked throwing the past in his face a lot. Once the notion of this really being Poppy came to him well....He.....MAY have gotten a little carried away with the sudden feeling of possession and needing to stake a claim to her. Especially when he now has her to himself it has a ...fullfilling feeling to it which almost mad him feel guilty in a way. But what was he gonna do? Let her walk away like that? Besides. This new deal benefitted them greatly now. He can ask her for small favors, maybe a talk...or something? he was still figuring that part out, and in return she gets his unlimited protection, immortality, and all the benefits of still owning her own soul. Which he's only ever done once ever before. So this works out greatly for the both of them. Hattie tilted her head at the sudden silent eternal monoluge of the ghost and tried waving a hand in front of his face to get his attention. It worked as he blinked and resumed his scowl at the small child.

"Uh...A-Anyways, why did you think I could help?"

"Because you're a grown up?...." She hummed. "Maybe Cooking Cat can help instead. She's a lady too."

"HA! That cat couldn't even run a full lap around a house and not be gasping for air. 'Sides, Kid. Whatever she needs I can handle it, can't be hard. Mortal dilema is sorta what I'm an expert in by now. And I'm pretty sure I already handled any poor imminant danger by making her sign a contract."

"OW!!" His claws immediately snapped up to cover his face where an umbrella suddenly wacked him in the face and everyone looked up for a moment at the loud yelp from the ghost, except for Rough Patch who still laid there. The ghost hissed and stared back down at the angry little girl with a scowl that could scare himself. "KID!! WHAT THE ACTUALLY PECK-"

"You stole her soul?!," she asked just loud enough for him to hear her.

Immediately his face became one of shock when he jumped and slapped one of those clawed hands over her mouth and snapped his head back to the house. Some minions were still looking at him but Poppy seemed more interested in unsticking a small stick from her tangled hair than she was seeing a ghost argue with his adopted alien daughter. ....He turned back to her feeling Hattie struggle against his hand and he leaned close. "NO! I didn't steal her soul, Kid! I'm not completely heartless! I just.......Gave her the same contract you have that doesn't involve any life threatening plots or perils."......She suddenly looked confused. "Y'know! Protection against danger wise."

......She blinked and tilted her head. A contract just like....hers? Then did that mean- Her blue eyes suddenly went wide as she looked at him in wonder. "Does this mean I get a big sister!?"

He looked confused for a moment....before shaking his head. "No, Kid. Not adoption papers. I meant just...." What was the simplest way to explain this to a child? "I meant she signed a contract that means she'd be working for me, but nothing dangerous. And she's going to be very protected. Ok?"

She stared at him a moment longer, but nodded and seemed to understand. "So...She's not family?"

"I-.....Family?"

Family......A family.....HIS family. His head turned back to Poppy and how she was now bending down and letting Bow nicely help her clear any more stuck leaves and sticks from her long hair. She always had a natural way with kids. Almost a ...motherly way if he did say so. His yellow eyes widened as that thought hit him and bounced around over and over again in that head of his. Slowly his eyes looked back down towards Hattie who still looked confused at his actions. A family. He's always wanted one when he was alive. He and Vanessa had discussed a couple times what they would do once their wedding had come and gone. Children were almost always a topic Vanessa discussed and insisted on. If it was a girl she would be the most perfect princess who would take after her of course and she WOULD be named Victoria and if it was a boy she'd make sure he wouldn't make any mistakes in becoming the perfect King one day. Any slip ups he made were going to be made sure he didn't and he WOULD be called Charleston. Vanessa thinking back on it now, would've made a terrible mother, Poppy on the other hand......She'd would've made a great of a mother as she would've been a Queen. As the few times he had ever been back to that manor or the dreaded nursury, the what if's had crossed his mind a couple times especially back in the early days of being a ghost. What if they had had a child? Would they had been like him or her? But all those what ifs soon died out once he had actually aquired children of his very own at last. And made sure to securely put his claim to his new eternal fatherhood. But-.....What IF the girls had a mother figure in they're life? They could use one right? Surely Poppy could be better than that Cooking Cat and WAY more better than Vanessa could've ever been. And looking back at Hattie specifically, she did have almost the same shade of brown hair he had when he was alive, and blue eyes Like Poppy's. It was almost like she was a mini mix of the two......Yeah...YEAH!! Guess who just found out the new placement. This would work out great too! Poppy loved kids, and these two won over everyone eventually.

"....Actually, Kid." That familiar fanged grin she knew came back to him. "She's a very new friend."

"You know her?"

"I-....Well no! And you're NOT allowed to tell her who I am! I mean who I was as a human! It's our little secret." He couldn't have this blown up in his face right now.

"Why?"

"Because I said so, and because it'll help us solve her problem. You want me to help her get better right?" She nodded her head yes. "Well there you go. Just keep your yapper shut and let me handle it ok?" She nodded again. Of course he....wasn't sure how to handle how to go up to her and say 'Hey! You know that prince who secretly liked you a lot but too afraid to say it? No? Well that's me! Im the ghost who tricked you into signing a contract and possibly made you lose everything by Vanessa but life happens. Right?'....Yeah. no. He'd figure it out later. Much. MUCH later. He nodded back. "Good girl. Now why don't we go meet your new...'mom' figure?" He turned back towards the tree house and started towards it.

"Mom?" Her face turned to one of wonder and curiousity again as she bounded after him again.

"Well....Kinda. She's going to be more of a live in nanny. I had one of those when I was your age." He couldn't remember the name of his parents old Head Maid too well, just her friendly old face and that she took care of him when his parents were too busy.

"What's a nanny?"

"A babysitter," he clarified before turning his gaze back towards the home. A long shadow came over the two girls pulling the last few bits of debry out of her hair, but both looked up towards the giant ghost looming over them all and smiling that familiar fanged grin of him. "Alright. New employee. Are you ready for your first contracrual obligations as my newest servant?"

Poppy Blinked up at him in shock. "N-Now?...So soon?"

He chuckled. "Of course. But what better way than seeing if you made a good investment than by testing out the product early on?" He waved a hand at her skeptical look. "Look. You signed the contract, it's only fair I ask you to do one thing for me in return. It's not even that hard."

....Poppy sighed and looked down. "I don't really have a choice, do I?"

"Nope! But relax. I'm giving you all the easy tasks compared to any and all of my previous mortal helpers!" He rubbed his hands together before smiling and putting his hands on Hattie's shoulders. "I want YOU....to help me take care of these two little troublemakers from now on."

She blinked. "Excuse me."

"They can basically take care of themselves with my help of course. They're practically invincible by now, running off all the time around this planet and my forest. But they could use an older woman's touch around the place. Cooking, stories, playing. Y'know the stuff a mother would do."

"I'm sorry. You want me to play the part of being their MOTHER," she asked almost feeling like laughing at the ridiculousness of the question.

Yes he did. But of course instead he answered with, "No. I want you to basically help ME watch THEM. Like a nanny kinda."

"Ha! You've gotta be kidding me!"

"Does it LOOK like I'm joking around, Lady?" He absolutely wasn't. "Look. I was generous enough NOT to take your soul, take you under my wing, and if it wasn't for my slip up you probably wouldn't even be not frozen." Which was true in a sense. His mistake technically did unfreeze her. "So asking you to just help out can't be too far a stretch don't ya think?"

She scowled again. "HEY!! Being a nanny wasn't in that resume!"

"Well I can argue it IS since it didn't state what specific work I needed your help with. Just that you'd agree to help me out with, Lady. I run a whole haunted area of the land full of thousands of ghosts and undead creatures, deal with an annoying corpse at night time, and have to care for two girls in outer space or where ever they decide to go. Not to mention the trouble they cause, intruders in my woods, and hundreds of employees under my command. Please don't make me regret sparing and hiring you now. I can always change my mind." He was bluffing on the last part. He'd never do anything to hurt her especially now that he had her under his claws but the look on her face wasn't one of terror it was a deeper angrier glare.

"I THOUGHT you said you were going to help ME! Not use me as your free nanny now!"

"I AM! Who wouldn't want to be able to have a normal job after being frozen to death?!," he argued back.

"You MADE me have no other choice to sign that pecking paper!! YOU PURPLE ONION VINE!!"

"HEY!! I HAPPEN TO BE KING OF WHAT'S LEFT OF YOUR PAST PRECIOUS SUBCON, 'PRINCESS'!!" He shot back leaning down closer to her.

Poppy dared to stand up and shove her face and scowl back at the ghost's. "OH!! EXCUSE ME 'YER MAJESTY'!" He mock bowed. "IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD DO?! HOW ABOUT TIDY UP THIS LIL HUT YOU GOT GOIN' ON?!"

"HEY!! MY HOME IS THE BEST HOME ANY GHOST COULD EVER WANT!! YOU THINK IT'S EASY FOR A POWERFUL OVERLORD OF THE DEAD TO WATCH TWO LITTLE GIRLS WHO PESTER ME ALL THE TIME?!"

"THEN WHY ARE YOU COMPLAINING 'BOUT BEING THEIR FATHER?!"

"I. AM. NOT!!! IT'S JUST HARD TO KEEP TRACK OF THEM ON THE JOB!!"

"AN ALL POWERFUL SPIRIT CAN'T WATCH TWO LITTLE GIRLS?!"

"HEY!! THEY'RE NOT ORDINARY KIDS I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW!! NOW STOP UNDERESTIMATING ME IN MY OWN HOME IF YOU KNOW WHAT'S GOOD FOR YOU!! YOU.....YOU....ROSE HEAD!!"

"OH REAL CREATIVE!! VINE BODIED!!"

"UNGRATEFUL WOMAN!!"

"JACK O LANTURN FACE!!"

"DOTTED FACE!!"

Hattie gave a deadpanned look as the two continued their petty arguement and Bow blinked in her direction before slowly putting Rough Patch down and getting up to walk over to her. The two little girls watched the two keep going at it like an old married couple for a moment, the minions watching in confusion just as much as Bow. Poppy didn't look afraid of him at all. Even arguing with him with an equal temper. Snatcher honestly....Didn't look enraged like he usually would have been if a total stranger who signed a contract with him had been fighting about duties he wanted them to perform. He just looked....average person annoyed, like two siblings or friends having a small argument over something useless.

"Uh....What's happening?," Bow asked Hattie without looking at her.

"I think no one here is a grown up anymore," Hattie replied flatly still watching the adults argue.

"ALRIGHT!! WELL WHAT DO YOU THINK WOULD BE QUALIFIED AS 'HELP' FROM ME TO YOU?!," Snatcher asked finally wanting to end this pointless argument.

Poppy actually stopped for a moment....Looking at him for a long time in silent thought at his words. What.....What DID she want help with really? She was lost. Both literally and thoughtfully as she still blankly stared at him thinking........What DID she want help with? She couldn't...She couldn't get anything back at all, and what was a dead person going to help her with anyways? From what she knew from what they said to her, all she got excited over was the fact there was someone in her situation...Ok. Maybe not exactly her situation persay, but similar at least. She was dead for crying out loud and now she's living basically a wild story some toddler thought up of. The quiet thinking seemed to catch Snatcher's attention as his scowl slowly by surely softened and watched as her's became even more unsure and deep in thought. He HAD helped her....Sure took a 'little' trickery, but it all worked out in the end. But he guessed like him when he first died, she was more than just lost-

"I......I don't know," she finally answered in just above a whisper. Looking back up to him with an almost panicked face. "......I really don't know."

Snatcher stared at her, a pang of worry and something else flashed across his face and through his shadowed body. All too familiar a situation and feelings. So it was kinda surprising to everyone when he lowered himself to not loom over her, but to look her in the eyes. As if she was an equal. A calm look over his face now and the angry aura from earlier disappearing as he spoke.

"Hey. I can understand that. Believe it or not you're not the only one who's gone through that kind of thing....I'm certainly no stranger to feeling like that. In fact it took me forever literally just to realize my place after I got lost," he spoke in a calm and steady voice to her. MAking the minions and girls around him give each other confused looks.

"B-But.....H-HOW did you do that?!," she demanded glaring back at him again, "I w-wanted HELP!! Not a job-''

"Lady-.....Poppy. Do you mind if I call you that? I think I would like it better if I did. Make it easier to talk for the both of us." She definately stared at him with 100% surprise now....to which he sighed and reached a hand up to rub his safe. Sentimentality REALLY wasn't his best side. "Ok. To make it in mushier terms..I DO want to help you ok. Believe it or not I do and I have my reasons. But you gotta know I can't change the past no matter what. Trust me I have TRIED and look where that got me. Stuck fused with a mushy corpse and having to lead a whole bunch of strangers through the forest like a tour guide." he glanced at her confusion again. "Uh..B-But that's not important. The important thing is that I can't change or fix anything that's already happened alright? I can't send you back. I can't give you anything from your old life......And I can't change what happened to you." Her face dropped and eyes widened even more- "But, I can help make the future easier and help you with whatever you need to settle down with alright? But you got to understand that it's NOT just going to be with a snap of my fingers. I know, I've experienced it for hundreds of years. Just know that...You're not going to be alone in any of this alright?" He without thinking offered out a clawed hand to her with a small smile. "Do you trust me?"

She still stared at him, and for a long moment no one said anything. The girls and minions were looking on in surprised wonder at the caring tone and meaning of the words that flowed out of the giant ghost's mouth, but no one made any more to do or say anything in fear of the quiet being shattered. It took a moment for anyone to react, but a bit reluctantly the red haired woman's shaking hand reached over and settled inself into the larger purple claws that came around her. ....Huh. Weird. She would've thought a ghost would've felt cold as stone, but instead he felt warm but not too hot either. Kinda like a crisp fall evening. Either way it wasn't what she was expecting when she allowed her bare skinned hand to hold his, and he felt...Oddly soft as well. Almost how a peach felt. Maybe he had fire inside of him keeping his being warm? Possible. His eyes and the inside of his mouth glowed as he spoke. But she wasn't too sure with ghosts since she never was one.

Poppy hiccuped again and reached a hand up to wipe at her eyes to get herself to stop crying before she started crying again for the third time in a span of hours. She still didn't know what time of day it was. "Y-Yeah...Ok?" Her voice came out soft and meek. And a little shaky too indicating she wasn't trying to cry and Snatcher quickly caught onto that. Seeing two little girls do a similar thing once.

"Hey. You know...I-It's alright to cry. Happens to everyone at some point right?" That got a small huff of a chuckle out of her and his smile (which he still didn't know he had) got wider....When a thought hit him with the speed and force of a meteor. "Hey! I know what can help a little bit. Y-You like flowers right? "

".....H-How do you know that?"

He had a flash of panic fly over his face for a moment before he coughed and shrugged. "You said you had a flower stand before Vanessa sent her goons to take you right? O-Obviously you must've liked growing things then. Or at least flowers."

"O-Oh. Yeah. That makes sense."

he sighed. Close call. But went back to that small smile. "Look. If you don't want to look after a stranger's kids I get that, but all I'm asking is a little help in return. And who knows. Maybe starting with something simple like this will help you settle down and get your thoughts together. Y'know. Something small then work our ways up to where we think would be the best action for you. Alright?"

She still stood there for a moment, before sniffing and nodding her head again. "'Aight. Sounds nice."

"There. See. Don't worry about anything. As long as I'm around there's not going to be any misfortune to you. I can promise that." He stopped when he felt a tug on his tail and turned around. "Hm? Oh. It's you." Hattie stared up at him with a confused look. "Well what's that face for?"

"Are you feeling ok? You're acting kinda funny...."

"WHAT?!" His hand was removed from hers as he stared down at the girl. "I-I'M PERFECTLY FINE!! I WAS JUST HAVING A BUSINESS TALK WITH MY NEWEST EMPOLYEE!! THAT'S ALL!!" He crossed his arms before looking back to all the minions surrounding him. "Well?! Don't just stand there! Back to your posts!"

The minions immediately did as their leader ordered and jumped and scrambled in all directions from his scowl. Poppy blinked again and looked at the still deadpanned child staring up at the ghost. "Is ....Is he always like this?"

She shook her head. "No. Usually he's more cranky. But maybe he hit his head too hard doing that weird crawl with human legs."

In an instant Snatcher snapped to her. "HEY!! YOU AGREED NOT TO MENTION THAT AGAIN!!" She stuck her tongue out at him and he grumbled before nudging her with his tail. "Well....Go take her home or something. I have some...business to take care off." Or more like to plant as he turned his head around to look in the direction of the Subcon Village.

Poppy blinked up at him. "Wait. You're leaving me? Now? So soon after I just got here?!"

"Yes," he stated bluntly. "I got something in mind to help you, but I can't risk you all running around while I'm trying to conduct business. "

She laughed unbelieving. "Unbelievable! What am I supposed to do in the mean time?"

"I don't know. See the ship? Have the girls show you around, I have to work."

Poppy still stared unbeliving before Bow smiled and grabbed her hand. "It's ok. He can be really.....um...Straightforward, but whenever Snatcher has an idea it USUALLY works. He doesn't like it when everyone interrupts him." A small tug to her hand made Poppy stumble a bit as Bow happily pulled her away from the ghostly home. "Come on! I can't wait to show you the Metro room!"

"The what?"

Hattie still stared at the leaving ghost with a raised brow at his strange behavior and hummed...Before shrugging it off for now and turning to bound after the other two girls. Oh, well. Snatcher was probably just having the mood swings as he called them. Grown ups were so weird.

What are your thoughts on the Subcon forest?

So I've gathered quite some headcanons/thoughts about Subcon Forest, Snatcher/the prince and Vanessa. This is basically an excerpt from a conversation I had with a good friend on Amino, when we exchanged headcanons:

Vanessa didn't let her prince know about her diary entries and letters. I mean. Obviously. That means, he never knew about her wanting to ban (or did ban) bacon. She would just tell him they ran out of it. Like... forever. There isn't anymore bacon basically. (Though I don't know if it was just a thought of her and she wasn't able to do it before everything changed or if she already managed to get her way)

Snatcher eats souls to become more powerful (He doesn't have to do it to survive though)

Snatcher/The prince knows why he got locked up (about her misunderstanding the situation) because he counted one and one together (also got probably a loooot of time to think down there, though I think he knew it already when he saw her crying (?))

Magic like fire and ice powers wasn't a thing until the incident

Subcon forest is a mysterious, magical forest so it's aura radiates something magical that can actually change/transform people/living things

The prince was so madly in love with Vanessa, that he never really noticed her true obsession (like cutting his hair, banning everything he loved (again, if she carried it out), keeping him away from others... or maybe she kept most of it to herself

About the burning part of the forest being Snatcher, who happened to try out his new found powers and magic abilities (since he seems to have fire magic because of that one wallpaper) and also to... possibly let out some anger

Vanessa doesn't know who Snatcher is. I mean, why would she know he was her prince? Brings me to:

Vanessa never visited him in the basement, because she was still so disappointed and mad at him. Also out of spite since

She's STILL angry/mad at him. But that kind of, 'how could he?' although she still loves him deep down, but thinks she's been tricked and her feelings are/were one sided (desperate, obsessive love y'know)

The minions don't recognise Snatcher, they don't really know who he was. But they do know there's something about him, about his aura. They feel it! He's their boss but they also appreciate him. He's like kind of a father figure to them

The minions who hang from nooses got trapped. Those nooses lured them like Hat Kid and that's how they ended up there. They aren't actually /dead/ DEAD, since, well, they are already dead. But trapped in that... state
