Okay, honest question, who is Yotsuba?
OH HO HO ANON I AM ALL TOO HAPPY TO EXPLAIN :3
Yotsuba is a character from the greatest manga ever made, Yotsuba&!(or Yotsuba to! it translates weird, most fans just call it Yotsuba) which is a comedy slice-of-life manga about Yotsuba Koiwai, a five year old girl, and her very strange yet wholesome family and friends!
It's from the same mangaka who gave us Azumanga Daioh, though while that manga is told in a four-panel comic style and doesn't really have much of an overarching plot, Youtsuba is done in a traditional manga style and despite also being very episodic there is a bit of a throughline surrounding Youtsuba getting settled into the neighborhood she just moved to, growing up, and eventually, in the later chapters, getting ready to go to school for the first time. Also, there are storylines that take place over multiple chapters as well! Despite the fact that the manga has been releasing since 2003, the chapters are pretty sporadic and the comic has only really covered about one year of the character's lives, but it never really feels slow or aimless. It feels almost...timeless? I guess. It's really nice.
Anyway, the manga is legit one of the most wholesome, funny, heartwarming things I have ever read. Kiyohiko Azuma is a fucking MASTER of comedy(you may have seen screencaps from a Sailor Moon fan comic he made going around on tumblr in which Jupiter accidentally sends Venus shooting across a pool that made me laugh so hard I cried) and he balances it well with lots of slow moments with GORGEOUS artwork where you can really take in the scenery and all of it is seeped in a wonderful nostalgia for childhood that legit makes me super emotional.
I don't think the manga has ever really taken off in terms of popularity, at least not to the degree that it deserves imo, which is likely in part due to the creator being firm about it never getting an anime adaptation and the sporadic release schedule, but it's far from unknown. There's been an official(I think??) score released and plenty of figurines and merch. It's also birthed a lot of memes, and it def has the same issue as One Piece where if you read it and love it you will turn into a walking billboard and try to drag your friends and family in with you. It's just THAT good!
You may have seen art of or people cosplaying Danbo, a "robot" made of old cardboard boxes that Yotsuba adores (Totally a real robot btw, def doesn't have a middle schooler shoved inside there, that would be silly wdym /s)
And this pose from the back of one of the manga volumes featuring Yotsuba, her father, and their extremely tall friend Jumbo has been redrawn with other characters like 500000 billion times
And you've also probably seen this going around tumblr before (that's Fūka she's my favorite cringe fail daughter I would literally die for her).
Also, I would be doing a disservice if I didn't mention Yanda, who is a friend of Yotsuba's dad and also Yotsuba's nemesis. He's a loser who constantly gets dunked on by a toddler it's fucking hilarious.
But yeah it really is just like, a manga that feels like a hug, or a warm blanket or something, it's so comforting and funny and fantastic, I find myself re-reading it any time life gets to be too hard just bcs it's that good at distracting me and reminding me that live is worth living.
And also given that it's literally my favorite manga, I saved up a bunch of screencaps to use as reaction images after a read one time, and thus now it's my own little joke that if you send me anon hate I'm just gonna send you back a picture of this cutie

I love procrastinating!!! So I will help you procrastinate as well! Let's see...mind ranting/rambling about your favorite and least favorite Lore Olympus character design?
omg uhhhh hmm
at THIS point in time in the story, I'm not too sure, as every character sort of feels like they're just at a standstill right now.
I guess in terms of favorites atm, Minthe is up there. She's just got so much more depth than all the other characters, even if that depth comes at the cost of her being pushed by the narrative as the hot mess. At least her being an abusive POS is being recognized though, y'know? I'm always down for problematic characters if the narrative actually does something with them. I'm just really hoping her recent arc isn't the end of her involvement in the story, I wanna see an actual resolution to her character arc 😭
I also really like Hermes and Poseidon, just because they're such bros. Poseidon is great at playing mediator between Zeus and Hades' drama and Hermes is such a wholesome bean. I'd love to see them utilized more beyond being just comic relief sidekicks.
But honestly, now that I think about it... my favorite has to be Hephaestus. Not because he's more compelling or entertaining than Minthe or Poseidon or Hermes, he just gives me such soft & stoic older brother energy and I'm kind of a whore for that FDAJKLFDASJKL I wanna just hang out with him, y'know? ♥
In terms of least favorite, I know it's such an easy answer, but Hades and Persephone, not even because of all the problematic stuff! (altho that def doesn't help LOL) Their worst crime is literally just being boring-
S1 Hades and Persephone were great because we got to see them each on their own and sidestepping around their attraction to one another, S2 onwards though has really been watering them down to being just "playing house" romance fluff and it's a real shame. Their story basically ended before it even began so now everything since S3 started just feels so dragged out and pointless. We've gotten too much external conflict "keeping them apart" and not enough internal conflict in their actual differences. Like, where's the bickering? The disagreements? I know those things shouldn't be normalized as being part of a "healthy relationship" but this is a romance story dammit! There's a reason drama and romance stories are full of toxic people and blatant misunderstandings, because it's entertaining! There's nothing relatable or interesting about a couple who's completely functional with zero work required and does the same cute shit every day. Give us the spice! Give us the character development!
(I'm also REALLY starting to hate Daphne, she's toxic af with how she treats Thanatos and their relationship feels like a copy of H x P but reversed... but that's another topic that I'm gonna get into in a future essay post!)
ETA: I'm re-reading your question and realizing I may have misunderstood, I know the writing is a part of character design as well but were you wondering more about my favorite art design? :0 So if that was the case, my least favorite is probably the nymphs, there's literally so much uncovered territory and so many of them are Persephone clones. Literally the only way to tell their 'origin' apart is color and sometimes elements like water hair but again, it's rarely utilized (the most we see of it is with Minthe's body turning to mud when she's angry). It just feels so boring and lazy, give us leaf hair or tree bark skin, something to indicate that they're not just spray-painted people with cosplay elf ears!
Hebe also falls under this category for me, she's pretty much an exact copy of Hera and that's pretty depressing to see. Why don't we ever seem to get any interesting color mixing between the Gods and their children? Even Hades dream kids were all blue, why not purple? Why are both Artemis and Apollo purple, why not any hints of gold in there?
As for my favorite, Amphitrite! (when she's actually drawn properly!) She's got such a unique design, she actually LOOKS LIKE A WATER NYMPH, and she absolutely radiates queen energy. S1 Hades was also pretty great. And ofc again Hephaestus because ✨swoon✨

It was universally known that humans were fragile, and prone to illness. Some even died from simple colds. That being said, your little cold was still enough to bother the oldest brother. So much so that his work has been... of a lower quality than usual.
This dude is all disheveled and haggard because he's so worried over you, but that doesn't mean he's skimping on your care.
It's a surprise to everyone that he keeps you in his room, where he can monitor you and make sure you have everything you need. Might even cheat a little with magic from time to time, as long as it speeds up your recovery.
He's also making sure you're comfortable and at ease, often putting on a soothing record to lull you to sleep. In reality, he might also be using it to de-stress, too-
"To think you ended up like this while in my care... I should have paid closer attention to you. But now, you're my entire focus. Leave your recovery to me."
Mammon
You've been sneezing, coughing, and vomiting all over the place! This is some kinda human illness, right?? aRE YOU OKAY-
Proceeds to go OVERBOARD with the care. You're wrapped in twenty blankets, you've got an ice pack on your head and a thermometer in your mouth (the kind used in cooking because they don't own a normal thermometer), and he's gathered every medicine he could get his hands on
But once he calms down, he's actually pretty good at caring for you. Mammon isn't COMPLETELY useless when it comes to caregiving, so that's a plus. He's just especially worried because it's you.
Refuses to leave your side, and won't let you leave your room. If you need anything, he's just going to get it for you! He's also barring his brothers form entering, claiming that he's trying to keep them from getting sick.
"Who told ya to go out and get sick, huh?! Makin' me all worried and stuff... Guess I've got no choice but to take care of ya! I'm not leavin' your side, ya hear??"
Levi
Levi's literally been dreaming of a scenario where he’d be able to nurse you back to health. Uh, not that he wanted you to get sick, though!
He's always wanted to do the 'pressing your foreheads together to check your temp' thing.... And 100% own a nurse cosplay that he's tempted to wear
But it's a little hard for him to focus on his fantasies when you look so pitiful. He's got to make sure you're back to full health ASAP! There's a marathon you two need to binge, and he doesn't want you throwing up every five seconds!
He'll take you to his room, since he'll be able to take care of you 24/7. And tbh?? He actually does a decent job?? He's a little annoying about it because he keeps checking on you every three seconds and talking to you when you're trying to sleep, but he means well.
"If only the 'Kira Kira Curing Beam' was a real thing.... For now, I'll just do my best with what I've got! Ganbare, MC!! Faito! Faitoooo!!!!"
Satan
The first one to notice that you're getting sick, so he's on it 👌
Obviously he's read enough to know the basics of taking care of a sick human, and he can study anything else he doesn't know, so you're in good hands.
Also EXTREMELY worried. It's written all over his face, despite his attempts to keep it cool. He's read how humans can succumb to things like this....Actually, he just finished a novel where that was essentially the main plot-!
So gentle with you throughout the entire process. He makes sure to keep you warm, brings you all the essentials, makes sure you're hydrated, and keeps tabs on your medicine. He's got a schedule for your care and everything!
"Honestly, you should have told me sooner that you weren't feeling well. It's fine to come to me for things like that, you know? I'll always be happy to take care of you."
Asmo
Snot, phlegm, AND vomit??? Yeah,,,, that's a hard pass,,,,
It's taking every ounce of his mental strength not to abandon you in your time of need, but thankfully his love for you is greater than the disgust for now
But his dramatic ass is gonna come into your room in full hazmat when he takes care of you, no exceptions. Even if you ask him to bring you a glass of water, he's acting like you have the plague.
But he's also pretty good at taking care of you? Even demons get sick, and Asmo has a tendency to get pretty intimate with wide varieties of demons, so he's had his fair share of sick days.
"How am I supposed to hug and kiss you if you're so sick?? It's killing me, MC! Though, they say you can sweat an illness out of your body if you try hard enough. I think I know plenty of ways to work up a sweat~"
Beel
Now is no time to think about how hungry he is becaUSE HES WORRIED ABOUT YOU
Beel isn't the type to really know much about humans, other than stuff about their food and how weak they are, so he's pretty much assuming you're going to die.
Literally won't leave your side. If you need anything, he brings it. If you need to go somewhere, he's carrying you.
He doesn't know how to care for you, so he asks his brothers for all the help he can get. Though he insists on personally bringing you the remedies they give him.
"Hang in there, MC. You should eat more to build up your strength. I know you can't keep anything down, so I asked Satan to make something good. Here, it's soup. I'll blow it off for you, so open wide."
Belphie
Honestly, he thought you were just taking a REALLY long nap. You hadn't left your room at all, and you didn't even go to RAD. He was lowkey jealous that Lucifer didn't scold you until he realized it was because you were sick.
And very sick from the looks of it. There were tissues everywhere, your room was hot, and you looked like you'd been dropped in a lake, fished back out, then beaten up and thrown back in.
He couldn't even tease you when you were in such a pitiful state. Belphie had seen illness plenty of times, so this wasn't anything new. It didn't ease his worries, though.
So he keeps you company by curling up in bed with you, not caring if he's close enough that he might get sick. He's not the best at actually caring for you, because he tends to forget to bring you things or falls asleep on the way, so he leaves that to his brothers.
"You must be lonely, being holed up in your room all alone. It can't be helped, so I'll stay with you until you're feeling better. Just don't get your snot on me, okay? ....heheh, I'm just joking. Come here."

bi-weekly update
it sure has been a wild time here and tbh I had enough to do one of these last week and just. didn’t?? for some reason?? anyway
listening: the Promare soundtrack went on sp*tify recently so I’ve been on Promare soundtrack lockdown over here. I know Kakusei is the iconic Promare song but Inferno (the opening song) always makes me tear up??? love to experience emotions about a movie in a reasonable and normal way. so anyway my standout track from the OST is Piromare because I am so very not immune to sad soft piano renditions of a motif that is usually triumphant/cheerful/etc

reading: I have, for once, read a bunch of books. I got a giftcard to my favorite local indie bookshop for Christmas and finally got around to using it to buy two books I’d been looking forward to, Dowry of Blood by S.T. Gibson (bi polyam Dracula retelling, kind of) and Winter’s Orbit by Everina Maxwell (gay arranged marriage space opera)
Dowry of Blood was very satisfying to me, someone who has lots of opinions about how vampires ought to be sexy and also terrifying, and I really enjoyed this specific take on vampire lore. also the formatting/pagination was really really cool and reminded me more of poetry books than prose usually does. for the first couple of pages there’s only text on one side of the page and then there’s one line on the back of a page and it hits really hard. extremely good and cool printing choices. would def recommend, but it is also explicitly an exploration of getting into and then out of an abusive relationship so. warnings for that in addition to the murder/blood warnings
also look at how sick this cover is (by Marlowe Lune, an artist whose work I really like in general)
I previously read Winter’s Orbit when it was on ao3 as an original work (called Course of Honour) and it was really cool to read a familiar story that I uh. read several times on ao3 but with added layers, because the author added a bunch of worldbuilding and an entire overarching higher-stakes political plot. I really really liked the added worldbuilding, and for the most part I enjoyed the new plot stuff, though at times I felt like it distracted from what I liked the most about the original, and there was one specific scene that was taken out that I was disappointed about. fave thing about the worldbuilding is when something is referred to by normal familiar words (like pigeons or bears) and then the actual thing is like, a fucking dinosaur that only vaguely resembles the word that’s used for it. very fun
also slightly mixed feelings about the framing of empire in the book, since there is some discussion about the consequences of imperialism and the resolution of the plot involves getting more rights and political sway for colonized planets. but the majority of the plot is about preserving an unjust status quo, and the representative of one of the colonized planets is working for the interests of the empire so that they can appear unified in the face of a larger-scale potential threat, which I’m not sure I love. and I also didn’t really care for the way the resistance movement (whenever it came up, which wasn’t often) was portrayed. so. on one hand yes there is a message of ‘empire bad and we should maybe try to be less Like That’ but on the other hand sometimes it did feel like the imperialism was an under-examined backdrop for a romance. like don’t get me wrong, I love the romance, I love the characters, it’s just that some of the politics didn’t quite do it for me and I think I just wanted More of things that just. weren’t the focus of the story
warnings for discussions of abusive relationships in this one, except this time it’s backstory for one of the characters, not something that’s present in the central relationship. and for all of the things that I wasn’t quite satisfied with, the parts of the book that are about like, learning how to be a person again after being in a situation where you’re not allowed to be yourself are still very well-handled and hit me real hard.
I also read a whole bunch of KJ Charles because sometimes all my brain can handle is marathoning romance novels, but I’m not gonna talk about all of them because this is already long enough (have not read the new one that came out today yet though that’s what I’m gonna do after this)
watching: Supernatural season 13 is incredibly boring and bad in ways that aren’t interesting or fun to talk about so I haven’t watched any recently. I did watch the first episode of Lupin, and really enjoyed it! will definitely watch more, though slowly because it takes too much of my brain to marathon it, partially because I know just enough French to almost not need the subtitles but having to read and also automatically trying to translate as I’m listening takes more brain energy. love a good heist though, and it has some good social commentary on race and class and crime
also the main character is very good. fucking superb you funky gentleman thief
playing: still making my way through the last mission of Knife of Dunwall. I made a bunch of progress since I whined at my friend about how hard it was and they told me to just stay in the building that has places to hide (the one you have to make your way through as Corvo, so I already know the layout, which helps lol) instead of the one that’s falling apart with nowhere to hide. who would have thought.
have also watched my roommate play lots of games and have thoughts on those too. Final Fantasy games (or at least the ones I’ve seen anything from, which is 7, 14, and 15) really appeal to me on a character/aesthetic/plot level but the gameplay looks like it would be bad for my brain. and yes all of those have very different gameplay but they would all be not fun for me in different ways. my roommate showed me like an hour of cutscenes from 14 last night that was basically a movie of tropes I love but holy shit I could never play a game where I have to wait for other people to be ready to also play the same part of the game before I can advance the plot
they’ve also been playing Persona 5 Scramble/Strikers (I don’t know which one the S stands for and at this point I’m too afraid to ask), which I do intend to play myself some day. it’s a sequel to Persona 5 with the same characters and damn they really nailed the feeling of seeing your friends again after not seeing them for a while, both in terms of. I care about these characters and am happy to see them again and also, they haven’t seen the protagonist in a while and they’re so happy he’s back and it makes me very soft. would love to reunite with friends whom I haven’t seen in a while
making: haven’t worked on cosplay but we did make some very tasty tortellini soup last weekend, and then last night we made fish & chips which was a lot easier than I was expecting and turned out pretty well? we just used frozen fries instead of like. frying them ourselves but we did make some very tasty lemon-garlic green beans
writing: well. I have a couple of things I’ve been noodling away at for a bit, and then a couple days ago I had a little bit of a breakdown and wrote 3000 words of angst in one sitting for an entire different new fic (Persona boys having a miserable time), and then yesterday decided to get in on a thing in The Untamed fandom of people writing short ““boring”“ domestic oneshots, and I love domesticity so I wrote one, which various reviewers have called “very sweet” and “a callout post” (it is both of those things)
I’m also organizing an event for P5 trans content because someone was shitty to one of my roommates over a trans headcanon and I got so pissed off that I’m running a prompt week now. love to have reasonable emotional reactions to things that happen in my life. why would I think about my actual problems when I could get petty and spiteful over someone saying that a fictional character couldn’t possibly be trans

Chapter 4
Work Drabbles - Avenger AU

Tony was gone when he woke up. Maybe he hadn't even come back? He hadn't heard him come in.
Steve spent the morning lost, he met a few people from last year, spent time with them, bought what he could only describe as a fuck ton of strawberry Pocky and comics.
Stopped by the artist gallery, there was a blond in a lavender shirt. Merch displaying his face in a Hawkeye get up, there was mostly a redhead and Steve liked her pictures just as much. "So you two cosplay as Black Widow and Hawkeye? Thats pretty neat. Is this all your own work? How long does it take for you to finish an outfit, what materials do you use?"
Clint laughed as he ran a hand over his face. "Yeah, Nat makes the costumes, I do the drawing and promotion. We even have our own bodyguard who dresses up as the Winter Soldier, under threat of death, but he's with her this morning. They went to get breakfast but I can't do the outfit today, I wanna get to the panels and so we're gonna shut down early."
"Oh," Steve picked out a few cards and paid him, "do you share on a platform?"
"Hey yeah!" Clint stifled a yawn and handed him a card, their info printed on it.
"Uhm… no merch on the Winter Soldier?"
The blue eyed guy cracked a sideways grin, "nahh, he's a jerk and doesn't even like coming but Nat drags him around anyhow. She might get him to allow some pics next year though, SO close this year!"
Somehow that sounded right to Steve. "Hey, are those the new St. Claire sketch pencils? Ohhh! They come in color?! How do they handle? I've been meaning to get them but I wasn't sure about splurging so much, maybe once I get back home..."
Clint threw his hands up triumphantly, he looked around and his shit eating grin was gone, "you! Ahhgggghhhh! My girlfriend SAID they were too much! But she doesn't understand! Dude! You gotta get yourself the whole package! It's… heaven!" He practically screamed. Both men laughed, talking about the new drawing pencils and weighing the pros and cons. Discussing other material they liked and by the time he realized it, it had been fifteen minutes. "They should be back by now.." Clint craned his neck, "that drawing panel will be opening soon."
Steve grinned and backed up a step, "listen man thanks for the pointers, let me get outta your hair. Gonna def catch you on the site." He pointed at the material in his hands and waved as he disappeared into the crowd.
Clint waved, glad to have sold something. He liked the guy almost immediately and sat back, feet kicked up. A hand swatted the back of his head, "ouch!"
"Almost time for your panel," Nat waved at him as she took a seat in the chair beside him.
Clint vacated his and wrapped himself around her from behind as Bucky dropped into his seat. "Gonna miss me?"
"Get outta here or I will leave and she'll make sure to hold you accountable!" Bucky growled rolling his eyes.
Clint laughed as he jogged away.
"You gonna hit the neon party tonight?" Nat asked him with a sideways glance.
Bucky scratched at the back of his neck, he really didn't want to, but then again, he might run into that cutie again. "Maybe."
The red head stared at him for a long moment. "Did you find someone you like?" Bucky knew the moment he expelled the word 'NO!' He was doomed. She squealed clapping happily and leaned in, shooting off questions a mile a minute.

"GOT-DAMN Stevie!"
Steve was glad he had put the helmet back on, it hid the furious blush that colored his cheeks and ears, the uniform doing its best to keep his neck hidden as well.
'You're pretty cute.'
Steve shook his head, why had he thought of that jerk all of a sudden? Not that he wasn't worth it, the guy was hot now that he thought about it…
"Hey," Tony caught him by the hips, maneuvering him through the crowd, Steve made a small noise as Tony's fingers burned into his costume. "So, found a guy I thought you might be interested in…"
"What?!" Steve looked around as he stumbled forwards, "but Tony!"
"You look so great!" He dropped his chin onto Steve's shoulder, lips briefly brushing his exposed jaw before he pulled away and waved at a group that made their way towards them. "I know you like brunettes and this guy is a blond, but you'll like him. He's- RICH!! RICH!!!"
Steve frowned as Tony caught his wrist in hand.
"YOOO!! CAPTAIN AMERICA!!!" the guy shouted over the noise of the crowd, music getting louder as they moved into a line. "This the guy you were talking about?!"
"Steve, this is Aldrich Killian, I can't remember what you're dressed as?"
Steve swallowed, the guy wore a pair of slacks and neon paint, if he was right it glowed in the dark and there was a large dragon tattoo running across his muscled chest.
"Just extremis- nothing fancy this year!"
Tony nodded, pushing Steve towards the man. Steve was swept along as the line began to move and suddenly they were in the main room. Lights flashing, music pulsing, bodies pushing against each other as the crowd cheered.
It was hot, crowded, and fun. Steve laughed as Tony tugged him along, Aldrich behind him, both men dancing with him. Hands on his waist, Tony was so close Steve could feel his breath, his heat as the music throbbed through the room. Once Tony leaned in as the room darkened techno music blaring, the crowd roaring and Steve knew this was it- Tony would kiss him.
And just like that the crowd swallowed him up.
Steve didn't like the guy grabbing at him, it had been a long day and now that his spirits were down he just wanted to crash.
He pulled away from Aldrich and held his hands up, "I'm heading back to the hotel!" He shouted over the crowd. The blond nodded as Steve backed towards the exit.
Steve paused outside, the cool night air chilling him. He knew he had to let it go, his crush on Tony. It would never be more than that. He made his way across the parking lot, Tony would be drinking tonight, they had one more night at the hotel and then they would have to pack up and head home.
He thought of Bucky, a smile slipping into place. He had met some good people at least.

I don’t have anything, tbh, because I’ve been mostly working on my fic for the Love Yourself Collab (which you should def check out bc I know at least one or two have posted theirs and I’m so hype to read them!!) and the sequel to mechanic!joon from the poll a while back.
I will give you this crumb though, for everyone who read Chasing Butterflies and thoroughly enjoyed it the way I did.
“I just don’t get it,” Nayun says as she straps her pads on. Jisoo doesn’t react and Rose looks like she might actually kick your asses if you aren’t on the court in ten seconds. “What do you not get? Like what about this situation is confusing?” You ask. “I’m whipped for Jungkook, we been knew, and he’s apparently through some great act of mercy also whipped for me, and he’s bringing every single one of his nerd friends to the match today. Which isn’t at all nerve-wracking. Whatsoever.”
Jisoo rolls her eyes and tugs harder at your laces. She always does your laces, she’s the only one with the upper body strength to tie the things well. You think she might actually be moonlighting as a secret BDSM dominatrix just based on the way she handles them.
“No, I don’t get why you’re nervous. He’s seen you play before, didn’t he tell you that he tries to come to as many home games as possible? And his friends know nothing about the sport, they won’t know if you fuck it up.”
“Which you won’t,” Rose says from the door. "Because you’re good at this.”
“And because you’ll kill me if I fuck it up.” She doesn’t respond verbally, but the look she sends you radiates ‘yeah and what about it’ energy. “Look, I’m just...scared of disappointing his friends. He talks me up all the time apparently, and if they get bored or are unimpressed then...”
“What, you think he’s gonna break up with you?” Jisoo’s tone is teasing, but when she looks up to see the insecuirty on your face, she softens. “You put on a cosplay for him, and he’s liked you for almost as long as you’ve liked him. I don’t think he’s going anywhere.”
You just nod, tugging at the laces as she finishes tying them. Realistically, you know she’s right. It’s been a couple months since that night in your apartment, and things have only gotten better. He still comes to the coffee-shop to hang out with his dweeb friends, even if he does spend the time waiting for them talking to you now. He still watches his dumbass anime, thoroughly enjoying your flat-screen to do so, even if he gets consistently distracted by the way you lay in his lap. You talk about your practices that he knows a fair bit about because of some anime, he tells you about his nerd shit that you don’t understand but enjoy hearing about anyway, you help him with his essays and he helps you with Organic Chem, and you even buy him little cupcakes every time he gets a new comment on his fanfic. Things between you are good.
You have no reason to worry, you decide as you push out of the locker rooms and head to the court to get warmups started. You spot him, sitting with his group of friends beside where Jimin and Taehyung sit with the rest of the guys’ team to watch your game. Your boyfriend - your whole chest gets warms as you think it, and you let yourself bask in it for a minute because it took three fucking years to get - looks adorable today; big, round glasses, with that soft beanie and a softer looking shirt. It’s got some kind of weird pumpkin(?) on it, with a point and sharp teeth and the back has a scythe and you vaguely recognize it. You’re pretty sure he watched it at your apartment a few days ago, but you also had his dick in your mouth, so you weren’t paying much attention to anything else.
You wave back when he waves at you, big and excited and cute, and you’re once again hit with the urge to cover him in kisses while also maybe dangling him off a fifty-story building. His nose scrunches in that way you love and you ignore the way it has your stomach flipping.
Rose pelts a ball at you and you catch it on sheer instinct.
“Are you actually going to warm up or are you gonna be entirely useless today?” She asks. You glare at her and throw the ball back in response. If you didn’t have firsthand experience with how good she is, you’d wish she was your opponent so you could wipe the smirk off her face.
Warmups go well. The team you’re supposed to be playing is good, supposedly pretty well-matched to your own, and you’re excited to see if it holds true. They don’t look especially intimidating. The biggest threat seems to be their captain - which is true for your team as well, Rose is terrifying - and there are a couple girls milling around in jackets and over-shirts. One in particular catches your notice; as you look, you realize it’s because Jungkook has the same jacket. Black, with a big-ass Old-English-styled L on the back of it, and some kind of writing you can’t see on the front and can’t remember from Jungkook’s, small and in the corner where logos usually go.
You make a note to ask which anime that’s from, just to know in the future, and return to your warmups.
The game itself is...well, it’s challenging. The other teams is as well-practiced as yours, they’re balanced against you pretty well, and all of you are enjoying the competition almost as much as you’re frustrated that you aren’t getting anywhere. Their captain - a shorter girl with pretty eyes and dimples - is an absolute beast and Rose looks simultaneously enraged and turned on, and Weeb Girl has been blocking you at every turn. She volleys every serve you give, manages to block every spike without fail, and you can respect that she’s good at this, but you’re also really fucking frustrated.
It’s the end of the second set and both teams are ready for the ten minute break. You’re in the process of trying to drown yourself in your Gatorade bottle and really considering using the stuff to summon some kind of demon just so you can win the game, go home, stuff yourself with cheap burgers, and then fuck your boyfriend because you could tell from his face at one point that he was getting worked up watching you play, but before you can you catch sight of your friends whispering quietly to themselves.
It screams ‘hey we’re doing something really shady and don’t want you to know, maybe you should immediately storm over and find out what’s going on’ so you do exactly that.
“What the fuck do you mean ‘should we tell her?’“ You demand, keeping your voice as hushed as theirs. Nayun looks repentant and sorry, Jisoo actually literally makes the emoji face with the teeth, and Rose just purses her lips and gestures over her shoulder.
You really don’t know what you expect to see, but Jungkook hanging over the side of the bleachers to talk to Weeb Girl isn’t it. His eyes are crinkled at the corners like they do when he’s excited, his glasses are half-down his nose and in danger of falling off because you aren’t there to push them back up like he enjoys, and he’s gesturing happily to Weeb Girl. And she....she looks just as excited, twirling a piece of hair between her fingers and batting her lashes up at him as she says something else that makes him laugh. You can’t realistically hear it, it’s too crowded and noisy, but you feel it when he laughs, every time.
“We should call the police, she’s gonna kill her,” Jisoo says morbidly from behind you.
“No,” You respond, scoffing. Your eyes don’t draw away from where your boyfriend is talking to Weeb Girl. “No, I’m not. She can flirt all she wants, it’s fine. Yeah, she’s blocked me at every turn this game, yeah she’s kinda really pretty, and she definitely has the ass for those shorts, and she’s wearing weeb stuff that she’s probably interested in and can talk to him about, but it’s fine. I know Jungkook, he’s not gonna do anything. He’s a good guy.” And you mean it when you say it. If there’s one thing that you’re sure of in your relationship that isn’t Jungkook knowing random weeb stats, it’s that he’s loyal. You know it, deep in your bones.
You watch as Weeb Girl steps forward, cutting off whatever Jungkook’s saying to push his glasses up his nose, giggling as she does. Your fingers twitch because yes, that is your job, not hers, but it’s fine. It’s absolutely fine. Until her captain calls her back and she giggles again and waves, and Jungkook turns to sit and you see it. He’s got that pretty blush on his face, the one that tints his cheeks and makes him duck his head, the one you love so much but especially when you’re riding him and can get him to break out of the dominant persona he loves and turn pink with your words.
And you know that your boyfriend is loyal and sweet and wonderful, can tell by the way he searches for you and melts into a smile like the ice cream you’re pretty sure you forgot to put back in your freezer before you had to rush out to get to this game. But pushing his glasses up is your job and that is your blush and you aren’t about to let some weeb queen take it from you.
Rose looks pleased as you all take the court again. Jisoo looks convinced you’re gonna kill Weeb Girl, and you won’t lie; you’re definitely trying to see if you can will someone to set fire with only the power of your brain as you stare her down across the net. She looks entirely too pleased with herself and even dares to send a quick glance and a shy smile off at where you know Jungkook sits behind you, and you wish - not for the first time in your life - that you had Harry Potter powers and could just Crucio this fucker right now.
Alas, you’re gonna have to settle for slamming a volleyball into her face.
Nayun looks horrified at the sight, but you can tell Rose is holding back a smile even as the ref gives you a penalty that you willingly take. Weeb Girl looks pissed and also a little confused. Logically it’s not her fault that she chose to flirt with your weeb; and you can’t even fault her for it, because he’s gorgeous and sweet and perfect, but god damn what a day to do it.
Throughout the rest of the third set, you’re basically unstoppable. You score three times on her, and you take a sick pleasure in the bruise that’s already forming under her eye. Her entire team looks confused, and you are too, because none of you are sure of where this sudden burst of skill and fury is coming from, but you’re determined to ride it out for as long as it lasts.
When the game’s over, your entire team crowds you to celebrate. You’re a good player, you don’t have any allusions to that, but you’re also pretty much just reliably good. You’ve never played like that, not in your entire life, and you’re thriving with the knowledge that you even can.
When they finally back up, you bolt before they can throw Gatorade on you, already climbing the stands. Jimin laughs as you shove him to the side, and you decide to feel guilty about the way he almost falls later, because right now you’re on a mission. You straddle the stand and fist one hand in Jungkook’s shirt, pulling him into a heated kiss that he doesn’t hesitate to return. In seconds you’re almost on his lap, one of his hands gripping your jaw so he lick into your mouth the way he likes while your free hand tangles in his hair. When you eventually pull back, he settles soft kisses along your jaw and you take great pride in looking straight at Weeb Girl. She doesn’t look mad, exactly; more resigned and slightly impressed, and you send her a wink that makes her roll her eyes.
“Hey,” You whisper to Jungkook. He detaches himself from the mark he was determined to make behind your ear, and you revel in the blush on his face. It spreads across his face and along to the tips of his ears, and you want nothing more to than to make is spread further. “You wanna go put on some Haikyuu and break in your new mattress?”
You don’t think you’ve ever left a game that fast in your life.

Let’s make this one quick, because tbh I really dgaf about Alicia and Isiah and I’m almost done with Maas’ new book so if any other’s in the Maaslander squad wanna chat about it, I have feelings.
They’re really dragging this Bonnet thing out, aren’t they. I mean, the books did too, but they could have, ya know, AdApTeD. Le sigh.
Hallo the house is the olde timey version of texting “here” when you get to your buddy’s place.
This episode could really be titled Men Suck.
I mean really. Roger? The Browns? Bonnet? Even fucking Elijah Ford manages to suck and we never even see him!
Jamie doesn’t suck much in this episode. Which is a nice change of pace for him. But he’s been headcanon’ed beyond recognition so whatevs.
Fergus doesn’t suck. Fergus is always the exception who can hang with the ladies because he’s cool enough to be in the good squad.
I just fucking love Fergus ok.
As someone who *hates* shopping, back in the day shopping seems like my exact version of hell.
Also, like, have these fuckers not learned their lessons about not communicating? They don’t need to fucking tell everyone the whole truth, but come the fuck on. They can at least give the Ridge Squad a heads up to not fuck with rando Irishmen who may show up.

Every time something like this comes up, I remember that there’s another random Randall but like as a first name, I think, in the Gathering Without End. Because of course.

I tried to go for some bands that aren’t as completely well-known as well as some popular ones. I even tried to add some albums I’m fond of for those that I can tell the difference with! Breakdown and song recs under the cut!
(U don’t gotta for the meme, I just like talkin abt music lol)
Going by rows, we’ll start with Gorillaz. They’re usually the band I mention if someone asks my favs because I’ve been with em since their first album. All of their albums are really good, but I think I’ve had the most fun with Plastic Beach! Humanz is probably my next choice followed by Demon Days. An underrated song from Humanz is Out of Body!
Daft Punk is another group I’ve been with since Discovery, which is quite frankly still one of the best albums out there. Everyone loves One More Time and Harder Better Faster Stronger but one of their overlooked songs that I’m fond of is Face To Face!
Nine Inch Nails.... SIGH. Gotta be that edge, right? But let’s be fair, I’ve gone to the past like 5-6 concerts they’ve put on, I can’t say I’m NOT a fan lmfao. No fav albums since again... 5-6 concerts. That’s 5-6 album drops. They’re all so good. Not to mention I love Trent Reznor... One song I’d say doesn’t get as much attention as the rest is God Given. (But again... Ow the Edge)
Studio Killers! Hello! The band Tumblr has babied up since they first started... I even cosplayed as Cherry for the one con I went to haha. Everyone knows the Ode to the Bouncer, Jenny.... But the most absolute BOP that I’ve fallen in love with the instant I bought their album was Friday Night Gurus. Just WAIT til the chorus, okay!!!
Scissor Sisters start the next row and like... What can you even say about them. I’m surprised they aren’t more of a thing here on Tumblr, their music is so catchy and bouncy and they sing about the wildest things, not to mention I’m pretty sure most of the band is LGBT in some way! While I try to aim for the more vague songs, Don’t Feel Like Dancing is my jam morning noon and night. (Also just LOOK at that video!)
In This Moment was actually a surprise get for me. I first got to see them opening up for another couple of bands and they absolutely stole the show. If you can ever get the chance, see them in concert!! I describe her as the Lady Gaga of metal- her outfits are fantastic and she’s got some hella backup dancers! As for songs, the list goes on... Whore, Blood, Black Widow... But here, have her singing with Judas Priest in Black Wedding. Yes, another edgy band but it’s metal, what do you expect.
Janelle Monae’s entire Dirty Computer album is fantastic and if you haven’t watched the little movie she’s shot to go with it, go do it now! It’s on youtube, what are you even waiting for!! We all love Pynk, The Way You Feel, Crazy Classic Life... But not gonna lie, Americans still gives me chills when I hear it. Not only is it a bop but Janelle def doesn’t shy away from Shooting Shots.
Beck lmfao. I honestly wouldn’t have thought to add him if it wasn’t for the concert I managed to get tickets to not long ago. His concert was PHENOMENAL, not to mention this new album of his was so fun and catchy... I just can’t help now but to say I love him. Not to mention his older hits like Where It’s At and Loser... Colors and Up All Night are so good but the song that blew my mind in concert and I had to get the instant I got home was Saw Lightening.
Des Rocs actually popped up on my Pandora and I had to look him up! Not only do I dig the whole look and aesthetic (black leather jacket wearing greaser guys? Hell yea) but I absolutely do love the sound. It’s got this retro rock feel and like... If you could Bang a Voice, I’d def choose this one lmao. Let Me Live/Let Me Die was the one that started it for me... But don’t miss out on Used To the Darkness either!
Mitski... It actually took me a few times to get onto this Tumblr train but once I got there I wallowed in it. Most of her songs are on my Sad Bitch Hours playlist but you know what? I’d describe listening to her music as sort of cathartic, I can lay down and stare at the ceiling listening to Mitski for an hour and somehow feel rejuvenated. I think Geyser was actually the one that got me into liking her, but Pink In the Night and Strawberry Blonde of course are good.
Florence and the Machine is kinda in the same playlist as Mitski, but I do absolutely love a lot of her songs. Many of them make me rather emotional (My work started playing Hunger and I nearly teared up at the register? Wtf?) but I think that’s kinda why I dig it. Dog Days Are Over is gonna always be my most favorite of them, but if you want one I don’t see many others chatting about, go for Cosmic Love. Big God is also a wonderful video if you haven’t seen it yet.
I’ve already talked and mentioned the Dead South in a previous post, but man do I love these boys! People talk about Gothic Cowboys and boy do these guys deliver. Their songs can be about death, adultery, literally losing your mind, so many other sort of dark topics but with such a catchy tune! Long Gone is a song that I get stuck in my head quite often!
Gogol Bordello... Wow, there’s so much I can say about this band. I believe the lead singer is from the Ukraine, his pal on the fiddle is from a country I cannot pronounce, he has twin backup dancers that are Swedish-Chinese, he has a guitar player from Honduras- this really is just a rag-tag group of people from all over the place making some fantastic music! I was lucky enough to see them in concert and their energy is off the fucking charts, I absolutely adore this group! Most people learn of them from Start Wearing Purple, one of my faves tho has to be When the Trickster Starts A-Pokin’... Also they performed with Madonna once? Hello? (Also I’m in love with Sergio’s fiddlin tbh)
Sofi Tukker is another artist I stumbled upon while listening to Pandora. It seems like many of her songs have a different style than the others, but they’re all so very catchy and have a wonderful energy to them. Speaking of... The song that got me into her best was Energia. I literally cannot listen to this song without moving a little to it, it’s such a poppy and fun song! For an English song though, try Best Friend. (Batshit Crazy is one I find funny too!)
Gold Fish was one I actually had to dig for at the time- one of their songs was playing in the background of one of those shitty Kia Hamster commercials lmfao. It was SUCH a bop even in the commercial that I had to find it! (It was Fort Knox btw) Again, as a lot of my poppy choices here, there’s such a good energy and upbeat sound to everything they do, it’s wonderful listening to. I actually love putting these guys on when doing chores around the house, it’s fun and gets the energy flowing and makes things a little more enjoyable! One that I also love to turn people towards is Get Busy Living. If you can’t tell between these two songs, they’re actually a sort of DJ-ish band- different vocalists and different sounds mixed in, but it’s all very well done!
Jain, another found treasure from a commercial... (Makeba was in a Levi’s commercial lol) I was reading that she was born in France, went to live in India for schooling, and wound up in South Africa to learn different musical stylings there- and it all very well feels like her music flows with all these different influences! I hate when stores use the generic word “ethnic” but I think her music and voice can very well fit in that sort of category. She’s got a lot of bouncy, poppy songs, but also a few more mellow songs as well... But of course I really love the bouncy stuff haha. If you need a song to get your heart pumping in the morning, I’d def recommend Star! A stranger sort of song that still has a great feel is Hope!

Honestly I don’t just have one job, I love creating things, whether its cosplay, props, metal working, wood working, music and/or recording, editing and directing videos. It may seem a tad unrealistic, but as long as I am creating all the time then I will be happy.

My percussion director from my highschool. He was and is an amazing teacher who just embodies the passion he has for music, preforming, and teaching. My respect for him has only grown after all the years I have worked with him since highschool.

First mate @letliv3 tagged me back, so here I am again with TMI. This got really long, so buckle up lovelies!
1. What is your favorite movie soundtrack and why?
I have two movie soundtracks on my phone. One is the soundtrack for Sweeney Todd (the one with Johnny Depp—is that how you spell his name? Idc) which I love because the lyrics are clever and I have been a member of many choirs in my life and we’ve sang this musical. The other is for Sucker Punch, the movie with the girl in a school girl outfit and a katana, because there are awesome covers of amazing songs, and they’re so relaxing omg. But other than those, I don’t really pay attention to movie soundtracks. But wait, hang on! When Batman Forever (I think? One of the Batmans from the 90s) came out, my brother, who was is obsessed with Batman bought it, and we used to listen to it all the time. So for nostalgia sake, that one. Kiss From a Rose is like, the greatest song (we never really listened past that track lol!)
2. What is your favorite smell and why?
I like French Lavender because it just smells nice, but the best smell is a mixture of freshly cut wood and sawdust, metal and tools, the dark green Polo cologne, fresh, crisp spring air and a hint of cigarette smoke. That’s how my dad used to smell when I was a child. He doesn’t smell like that anymore. A few years ago, when I was walking under a construction site, I got a whiff of it. From what seemed like a dream I was slammed with childhood emotions, memories of love and safety, bike riding on Saturday afternoons that ended with cherry-flavoured popsicles, laying in a pile, squished on the couch, wrapped up in blankets and surrounded by pillows on top of my dad, while my mom joked about us being as lazy as the lions we were watching on the Discovery Channel. It was a piece of nostalgia wafting over on the breeze. If I could bottle it, I would in a heartbeat.
3. If you could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
ONLY one? Forever? Ugh I would totally hate that food after a week. So let’s go with something healthy and maybe with a variety of ingredients so I could pick some out if I got bored. But my fav food is hot and sour soup, which doesn’t have much variety. I think actually I’d pick steak. Because you could marinate it differently, but even if you were limited to salt and pepper, you can still make it taste different enough. And different cuts taste different so I’m gonna cheat that way. I will greatly miss that soup though.
4. What teacher has most influenced you in your life?
Good or bad or memorable?
Good: my grade 7 science teacher subtly told me off for being a judgemental 12/13 year old and I still feel the shame of that sharp glance and flat retort. I’ve been much kinder since then.
Bad: my grade 11 art teacher made me feel worthless because the art I produced didn’t fit his idea of how he thought I should be interpreting his ridiculous prompts. I had to do a mixed media piece which explained “The Economic Crisis in China.” And my interpretation wasn’t “art,” but the person who got to chose their topic, chose “Global Warming,” and painted a tiny polar bear in the centre of a canvas with a white background got an A+. I’m not bitter at all, what are you talking about? I hated that he wouldn’t talk about it with me. He expected me to know what he wanted and to just do it, and that’s such a horrible thing for any teacher. In my whole life I have never disliked a teacher. I even like the teachers that everyone else calls hardasses. He and I just didn’t get along.
Memorable: My grade 11 English teacher gets an honourable mention because he was a babe and damn if I didn’t have the hugest crush on him. We used to get into conversations about the origins of words and the history of language and if that isn’t what makes the ideal man then idk what is. Talk nerdy to me 😘
5. Who was your idol as a child? Why did you admire this person?
Samus Aran, from the Metroid video game series. That was my favourite video game, my dad’s fav game, my bro, my male cousins, my uncles…everyone in the family loves that series. It was about a bounty hunter in a set of impressive, head-to-toe armour, who was just the biggest badass; a human trained by an extinct alien species to use their advanced technology and weapons. And the major “reveal” of the game? Samus is a woman. There were no female characters that were playable back then, or that weren’t just princesses that needed saving. There was no game more fun to play, that was as unanimously loved (in my small world) than Super Metroid. And I wanted to be her. We had the same colour hair (they’re changed her design now which upsets the little girl in me) and I wanted to be a badass bounty hunter that defeated space aliens and had the last being of an alien species—that was typically a deadly menace—imprint on me and think I was it’s mother. Little girls have strange dreams ok, and honestly I don’t think that dream will ever leave me. I want to cosplay as her one day, I just have to get the confidence to do so.
6. What kind of coloring books go you like? The simple and succinct ones or the intricate and detailed ones?
Eh, well I’m an artist so I much prefer to draw. But both have their ups and downs. The intricate ones can be very relaxing, as you can easily colour in pleasing patterns. But the simple ones give you more space to “freestyle” so to speak. But I love co-op colouring with children. When my cousins were super young I used to draw them pictures to colour in, and their mom has kept them all.
7. What are your go-to pair of shoes?
Slip on flats, when the weather permits it. I can take them on and off without any fuss, no ties or buckles. I have a pair now from sketchers which are plain black…something. They’re accidentally (yes, accidentally is the right word) construction shoes. They can withstand over 30k volts of electricity or something, idfk I don’t understand safety shoes. All I know is that I’m not getting electrocuted any time soon. Try me, lightening. I dare you! ⚡️⛈🌩
8. What would you name your Direwolf if you had one?
I want to say “Lucky” only because those guys don’t have much, but if we’re not being superstitious, then probably “Paul.” Because of a Family Guy joke.
9. If you could change one event in the past, what would it be? (It doesn’t have to involve you in any way.)
I…I’m really sorry, but I can’t answer this with complete honesty. My first and second responses are too personal. But my third? Hmm, if I’m being selfish, I’d close my eyes (so vague mwahaha). If not…there’s too many to chose. So many tragedies the world has faced, I can’t choose one that weighs heavier than any other, or would make the biggest impact. Because you also have to consider that some good came out of those tragedies. And if you stopped one event, then whatever tensions were being built up would just break at another time. Maybe I’d stop a natural disaster from occurring, save a bunch of lives. I’d actually love it if the Library of Alexandria still existed, or the Colossus of Rhodes wasn’t destroyed by an earthquake, or that giant statue of Athena that used to be in the Parthenon wasn’t torn down…I have a soft spot for pieces of history that were destroyed.
10. What is your favorite memory you have with your group of friends?
Not my current group, or a group really. But my fav memory with a friend is with my first roommate in university. We bought a pumpkin to carve for Halloween that turned into a ridiculous photo shoot featuring pumpkin entrails, pizza, and the stars of CSI New York on our shitty tv.
11. If you could become part of your favorite series/ movie etc. would you?
Well, first I have to pick a favourite, which is just impossible. But for the sake of the question, since I’m very involved with the Naruto fandom atm, I suppose I’ll just use that in place of “favourite.” On the one hand, it seems like a drag. Any war-torn place seems horrible in comparison to this world. But then again, magical powers are pretty sick. Would I be born into the world, or transported there? Would I have powers, or be just normal me? Would I have “foresight” based on my knowledge of the series, or be a “tabula rasa?” So many things to consider! When in the series would I be injected? Post the Fourth War, sign me up as I am now, and even as a civvy; so long as there’s some Rokudaime in my life I’ll be fine 😜. Before that? Ehhh…it depends. I’d probably miss everyone in my life over here, and with no guarantee that I’d make new bonds in the new world…ok so I’d def want my friends and family there (well, some of them lol). So maybe, depending on the situation when I got there. Which is pretty much a non-answer. Sorry!

I mean, when I first thought of the trail mix thing, I was definitely thinking of Stiles and Jackson. Then I thought, wait, that whole family is made up of dumbasses, assholes, and dumbass assholes. It really could work for any combo of them. Hence the more open-ended suggestion. And I mean, some of the dog treats we carry could easily be mistaken for regular snacks anyway (hell, there’s one brand looks like a Teddy Graham, but is all bland fruit flavors.) Also, now you’ve got me super nervous with that latest hint. Doubt about what, exactly?… There are so many potential options, some of them definitely more fraught than others. Should I stock up on more coping consumables?
Hope you enjoyed your movie. Today I’m opting for Winter Soldier, because while I may not be able to muster up any patriotism for America right now, I can always manage it (among myriad other emotions…) for America’s Ass. And that movie is not only amazing, but comes with a bonus of 3 total Caps in it (technically.) Though I can literally never watch it without my brain at least once going “hey, that’s the nurse from American Werewolf in London!” (the Security Council lady), which is apparently only entertaining to me, but I don’t care.
Had another thought brought on by too many Tasty videos (I know, I have a problem, I’m just not ready to deal with it yet.) I know we’d discussed Chris kinda being the main cook of the three, as well as making the occasional fancy pastry and probably the more regular desserts. Peter I can see being the one to make the more elaborate, fancy cakes and pies for special occasions, because he has a better grasp of how to extra, but classy about it. Like, Chris will handle it if they need bulk amounts of things made for a bake sale (though others may chip in to help), while Peter will make it if they need something attention-grabbing for like a raffle or something. Now, normally Noah doesn’t bake much outside a few handed down holiday recipes (he can very rarely be convinced to make some ridiculously delicious triple chocolate chunk cookies that he refuses to share the recipe for, but it takes a lot of convincing to outweigh Stiles’ potential tantrums about healthy eating. [Mostly Stiles is mad because he REALLY wants the recipe, but clings to the easiest excuse]), but the idea occurred to me that maybe while he’s stuck at home more during the latter part of his pregnancy, he develops an interest in bread-making. He already has some experience with dough from his family’s pierogi recipes (and he has a babka one he’d loved to try if he felt more confident, so), he can take rests while the dough is proving, he finds the kneading very meditative (and he certainly has the arm strength for it), and just mostly finds he rather enjoys it. And the family certainly enjoys the fruits of his labors. After the twins are born, he starts branching out into different, fancier kinds as the mood strikes him, and Peter gets very used to coming home to a house that smells of fresh baked bread and home cooked food, underlined with the scents of his mates and pups. He finds he adores it on an almost spiritual level.
I…I think that was everything? I’ll probably think of something as soon as I submit this, I usually do. I hope you’re feeling better, and that writing has gone well today (and that you found some good games. I had a number of friends talking about Steam’s sale [they apparently like to look through all the super cheap stuff for the so-bad-they’re-good kinds of fun.]) Did you know Keahu Kahuanui does/has done cosplay for Assassin’s Creed? And Cody Christian and Tyler Hoechlin both did voices for the FF7 remake? (You probably did, but the fact that Derek Hale voiced Sephiroth will never not be funny to me, so.) Actually, there’s another costume idea - video game characters (I admit you probably have a far better repertory of known characters to pull from than I do. I’m a casual gamer at the most generous.)

Ok it’s 3 am, and I just finished some Detroit become Human on PC so whoops. (Already owned it on Ps4 but the Steam sale was too good. Three games for the price of one) Ah well, it’s Saturday (Sunday now?) and I have today off too.
I mean, that’s fair. A lot of dog treats honestly look like something I could eat when I’m not paying attention and just shoveling snacks into my mouth. (Also on another note, I may have eaten the dog’s kibble as a young child and my brother pulled a prank on me when I was an older child and fed me kibble without me knowing.) So I can definitely see how this family filled with dumbass assholes would pull it on one another. And it’s a fantastic image! XD
I debating on what kind of warning I should give this. Because I’m hoping it’s a bit impactful/emotional, but it’s not about the boys. I think that’s the best warning I can give it. It’s about a character in the main story that isn’t the main ship. But it has unforeseen consequences/implications? So maybe getting some good snacks is not a bad idea. Is that vague enough while also being considerate enough?
Huh actually, I might put in the set up for another reveal about another character. I’ve been working on that one for a while. (Nothing bad, just one of those, huh okay neat! things. I hope.)
Sully was so good, holy shit. I definitely enjoyed that one! Can highly recommend it actually. And yeah, as far as the MCU goes, WInter Soldier is one of my absolute favorites. I think for me it’s Thor Ragnarok, Black Panther, Winter Soldier. In that order. They’re just really good movies and definitely some of the funnier/better movies in the MCU. Although with Black Panther I did go: Lion King did it! a couple of times. But that’s okay, I loved the 90′s version of that too, so.
And Winter Soldier is def worth it for America’s ass, hmmhmm.
I love that headcanon, I can just see Peter coming home after some grueling day at the office, the house smells like fresh bread and pastries and freshly cooked lasagna, there’s the soft arguing of Stiles and Noah over recipes, Chris is just pulling dinner out of the oven. Allison has set the table with Lydia. Danny and Jackson are watching over the twins while Scott and Malia are keeping Ben entertained. And Derek is helping Chris with Dinner.
Their house has never been more lively and Peter’s living for it. Makes his entire day filled with dumb businessmen worthwhile because this is what he gets to come home to.

Oooh that’s a good one though. Hmmm I feel maybe the FF franchises would have enough characters to do group cosplays. Or Kingdom hearts. The Witcher might have a few.
Oh! Or a bunch of ‘adventurers’ for the group. Like Peter could be Nathan Drake. Chris could be Joel Miller. Noah could be Arthur Morgan. Jackson could be Cloud. Malia could be Lara Croft. Allison could be Clementine (TWD). Stiles could be Sora (KH). Lydia could be Aloy (Horizon Zero Dawn). Ben could be Atreus (God of War). Scott could do Link (Zelda). And they could go as this rag tag group of adventurers.
There are probably better ideas, but it’s almost 4 am and my sleeping pills are kicking in. So I’m gonna go catch some sleep.

I am Having Emotions, So Sit Down And Buckle Up.
So Uh. You know what? From now on, this is gonna be my procrastination central. I am gonna write stupid anecdotes about my life, but really, it’s not gonna be about my life. It’s gonna be about how I, a Dumbfuck™️, met a Bean and learned how to be a human being. SLowly, with enough practice.
This anecdote is alternatively titled, How I met The Same Person Three Separate Times, and/or The Dumbfuck and the Bean
Date: August 28th: So me being a DumbFuck means I knew I had to plan all my classes right? First day of College, I got that all sorted. I got to everything on time, got all my homework and notes down, started out on the Right Foot. but here’s the issue. I got complacent. For Tuesday, I looked at my calendar and map, was like yeahhh, I can get everywhere no issue, and said, Fuck it (cause I was a cool College Kid. I could SWear for Real now). I’m not gonna visit these classrooms early at all! I can find them in Ten minutes.
But there was a problem. I was not Prepared for Altgeld. See, Altgeld is a confusing building, with floors built all weird. It looks like a great big castle, all big and gray stone with bells chimin at :50 and the hour. Being all great and imposing, I went in through the front. Mistake. I had no idea where my second floor classroom was. And the clock was ticking down. Completely lost, I eventually caved and asked several different people. One of these people was a “dude” in some nerd buttonup and cargo shorts with disheveled longish hair. Like if the Bieber hair grew out and actually decided to look good, was a tad bit wilder. Impression: NERD™️ Probably quiet, had the kinda rimmed glasses that made them look like an owl. Plus they were Asian, so it looked like they might know where they were going. No. Not even a clue. Bright side: they were also in a calc discussion! Sorry, they said. I’m in calc one, they said. Disappointed, I was like meh and asked someone in the office. They found their class first, and I found mine soon after. I don’t remember if I thought they were cute. I generally don’t think that on first meetings. What I remember most though, is the quiet and easy way they teamed up with me. I really like that, actually. Being willing to go along with things is the thing I feel like I’m generally supposed to do but here, I felt like we were actually Working Together for the two minutes we were lost in Imposing and Foreign Architecture. Unfortunately, due to how brief, I forgot completely about this until a couple weeks after. When THey remembered, and told Me.
Date: ??? Around Sep 2-7 (most likely sep 3)
This doesn’t technically count, but I feel obliged to mention it. So, Joy, my friend at this point, tells me to join the Metagamers discord, so I scour everyone’s intros and see if anyone has any pictures up. Only one. A magic card (though back then I was Dumb and thought it was Pokemon) with a kid on it. They had on a white wig and a cool cape. Obviously cosplay. I was wowed. Huh! A nerd who Also Cosplays! I’ve been looking for those, cause I also wanna do that! Best of all, it said their name on it. Yiwei. What a p cool name. I scroll to their intro and see a super excited with Caps and Exclamation Points Introduction, with bunches of rambley stuff about Larp and DND (also they explained their intro statement? who does that. Nerd). Impression: NERD with side of Mysterious Skills and Swanky Confidence. (that might edge over into arrogance) But back then, I just saw the energy, enthusiasm, and ability to cosplay. Huh, I said. What a cool person. I kept that in my mind, I guess.
Date: September 8th
I’d heard about Club Campaign and their awesome and fun Game Night, So I thought I’d go over to the English Building at 7 and see what was up. It was actually fun! I met cool new people, who I didn’t know, who were fun and inclusive nerds (but because I was shy I didn’t open up too much, but felt better cause everyone was good about talking to me, and left at 10 because back then I slept at 12, like a good nerd) Anyways, They were on the other side of the table, playing werewolf with the big table group we had, but I thought their name sounded familiar, and they looked kinda cool, even if all the games I kinda wanted to kill them (in game) because they were fucking things up for us townspeople, or I was a werewolf and kinda had to. Anyways, they kept offering for the group this mostly empty mello yello bottle they were drinking, to spin and see who it would off, and every time it would either land on them or very close to them. So of course, the mob tried to off them, because mello yello had spoken (they will still never drink mello yello to this day). All I remember really is them being uproariously loud with their nerd friendos they’d just met and being like, really social. I thought they’d been in this friend group for a while was one of the Popular Cool Nerdos. (You know, the people that get ribbed the hardest in a friendly way and have all the respect anyways? that one). Impression: NERD with dash of Social Circle.
Date: September 11th.
It was a Tuesday game and I’d just met this bean. They were casually just talking to the DM, who told me I was gonna partner up with them this session, cause my character was an intern who needed an excuse to travel with the party. She likes aiding and Abetting People. Anyways, within the first few minutes, they joke about 9/11, talk about (when offered gum by me) how each time they ate gum they swallowed it, explained things that went over my head, and continued making puns about stuff. Impression: NERD–Irreverent Trainwreck Edition. I did like them, yes, but they were a bit Swanky and Rambunctious. I felt like they’d do a lotta bullshittery during the campaign and they didn’t disappoint. ((Me: Oh, y’know, just blowing gum over here. Them: who’s Gum? Me, five minutes later: *smacks forehead into both palms* Them: I can’t believe that took you so long.)) Surprisingly enough, I ended up enjoying their bullshit so much I decided to align myself more visibly, and decided to give them one of my hairclips. I didn’t expect myself to do that, honestly, and it felt a bit weird. But their strange almost over-expressiveness and charismatic excitement kinda won me over. I have no idea why I handed over my hairclip that night, or why it pleased me so much to see it immediately in their hair. Still, I thought. This might be the start of a Beautiful New Friendship. (oh boy)
Other trivial things I did was briefly think they were like 20 bc of all the white hairs they had. Then they accused me of having white hairs too, which I did. I now can’t believe I thought they weren’t a freshman. They had too much zest for life. Uhhh, anyways, I thought they were cute I guess. Because I had a weird hunch, I asked them their pronouns, at which point they wrote them down, and then.. I was like me too!! Because we used the same pronouns, she/her and they/them. That spark of connection was kinda wholly complete. See, I tend to only go for the people I have connections with. People who tend to be queer in some way, because that, I can feel on some level, you know? Things like attraction, gender identity, and stuff like that. It happened with (Codename) similarly too. But I felt that spark, like, immediately. Like actually within an hour of legit talking to this one. They were so vibrant, they kinda immediately stood out. Like a comet, or like a bright red flower against a generic green background. So I guess it isn’t hard to see why I kinda fell into Cute Person Likey Likey.
Anyways, we ate dinner together with friendos after, and after I found out they lived in my dorm, we stayed up until like 12 in the piano rooms where they played me all the songs they knew, which was fun af. I liked them a lot. They seemed like a fun person. Throughout the thing, they kinda seemed nervous, a little bit pause-y, a lil timid, which I thought was because close proximity, aLone, and cause nerves from new person. As we said goodnight, they did all that stuff again, and just sorta shouted, “Check your Discord!!” and then dashed up the stairs. I didn’t know them very well, so I was like, huh. Impression: NERD with Casual Dramatic Flair. What a cool disheveled piano man, I thought in the most gender neutral way possible.
So they wanted me to check my discord? Huh, I thought to myself. Maybe they just really wanna send me Cool Memes.
I was wrong.
I started nervously laughing, and then shaking, and then up and down pacing, and then my teeth were chattering, and then my roommate was like, what tf is going on, why are you suddenly Like THis. “I dunno! I don’t know why this is Happening,” I kinda whisper shrieked. He started laughing and was like boiiiiiii you in love I see the signs, you GAVE THEM your hairclip, if I don’t know what a sign is, that def is one. Three weeks and that man could read me like a neon sign. Everyone probably could, anyway.
So my teeth were chattering, my entire body was shivering, but I had yet to respond. They sent me another vaguely panicky sounding thing. Coherently, I replied with this:

Drunj!Der Yells About Outlander
Thoughts on Ep. 503
Oh, Outlander. Le sigh.
On one hand, this episode gave me everything I’ve been wanting for 84 years a long time: Jamie and Claire, together, working as a team as the center of the episode. On the other hand, this very much did *not* feel like an episode of Outlander.
Bottle episodes are fine. The Garrison Commander, The Wedding and A. Malcolm were all basically bottle episodes. Two of those three are a couple of my favorite episodes of the whole series. This episode was like if the times the show decided to cosplay as a different genre (horror this time, rather than the political drama and military drama we’ve seen them attempt in the past) was dialed up to the point it no longer resembled an episode of the same show. From the music to the directing to p much everything.
This episode made me think that like if Outlander was a Venn diagram it would have Claire and Jamie working together as a team, them in the bulk of the episode, and a Good Episode™ of Outlander. You could have two but never all three.
(Also I hate horror movies. They’re just aggressively not jam.)
Ok but now that Marsali is Claire’s apprentice, can we have her and Fergus find out about time travel this season? Because in the books it’s like vaguely implied in MOBY but we never actually get to see that convo.
Also, yes, Marsali, Boston’s pretty rad. Not that I’m biased or anything. In addition to apparently “discovering” penicillin, we also invented Amurrica.
Shorter Claire’s VO: Idgaf about the timeline anymore. Don’t see how that can go wrong.
So was the blurry af title card Marsali practicing suturing? Why did they shoot it like that. It looks more like how they shot Mr. Beardsley’s POV rather than through the moldy bread covers or whatever it was through.
That whole intro part felt like it came from a different episode and was just tacked on to remind us that mold shenanigans are still a thing that is happening.
I do love Marsali, and her with Claire, though, but still.

Ok so Jamie is only gonna do another cross burning when he calls his dudes to fight the English, right? Because he did the whole big thing like “I won’t light the flaming dildo again until we’re going to war” and now he’s raising the militia but not doing the fire part when they showed the new wicker dildo right there up high on the Ridge. So like, because that whole bit was about the men being loyal to him, he’s only gonna light it for freedom, right?

Here I was, all pleased that we were spared Breast Milk and Periodpalooza in the premiere. I should have known better. And yes, I know it’s natural and a part of childbirth, yada yada. I watch Call the Midwife and even *they* don’t fucking squelch it like that.
The subtitles spell Baltimore “Baltimoe” and now I have Another Op’nin’, Another Show from Kiss Me, Kate stuck in my head.
Is it too much to ask that the show find some way to demonstrate the past being The Worst™ that isn’t women and children getting abused or raped or murdered by shitty men? We already know men are shitty. Men are still shitty.
