Fellowship But With A Tiny Headcanons

(under a readmore because this gets long)

Aragorn - You would genuinely never feel unsafe in this mans hands. When he finds you he makes himself appear as nonthreatening as possible, and when he promises no harm will come to you he MEANS that. He’d even get a small sword made for you, and make sure you know how to use it.

Boromir - He does his absolute best to make you feel safe and included, and loves to show off in front of you. You know those ‘showing my cat items he’s never seen before’ memes? That would be Boromir with a tiny, showing them all of Gondor. Unlike most of the Fellowship, he’d keep you a secret from everyone.

Legolas - You would never be able to sleep. Constant energy, if you’re not clinging to his cloak for dear life while he’s sprinting through the woods, he’s fidgeting with you in his hands. The only person he’d tell about you is Gimli, showing you to him once before going “No one would ever believe you.”

Gimli - The most considerate giant ever. Always making sure you’re alright, you’re warm, you’re fed. He loves to tell you stories and poems of the line of Durin and his home, and eagerly listens whenever you tell him about your past. Anyone within a two foot radius of you without permission gets to meet his axe.

Gandalf - From the way he treats you, you’re not the first tiny he’s met. He has a delicate little way of handling you - so precise and careful down to the smallest movements, it’s almost uncanny. He talks to you like you’re just as tall as him, and would never make you feel lesser for being small. (And he builds you tiny fireworks!)

Sam - The man treats you like you’re absolutely normal sized. He never talks down to you, will fight to make sure you’re heard in conversations, asks your opinion on everything. Out of everyone, he’d be the most protective, always making sure you’re safe and being treated equally by everyone who meets you.

Frodo - A little stand off-ish at first - interaction with a strange tiny thing isn’t his favorite past time, but warms up to you quick. It doesn’t take long for him to fix you up a cozy, doll sized room in Bag End. Adores chatting with you about his adventures, whether it be trips to Mount Doom, or late night get togethers with the other Hobbits.

Pippin - Being tiny around Pippin would be chaos, but high risk high reward. If you survive all the shenanigans, it’s an endless stream of the best giant stolen snacks and pipeweed forever.

Merry - He has a special pocket with a button close, otherwise you would have fallen out by now with all the intense adventures you get up to. Whether it be running around the Shire, or hanging out with Eowyn, it’s never a quiet moment.

To be honest I think that “gatekeeping” fandom is okay sometimes. I’m saying this as I am bombarded with shitty news articles about the new Amazon prime LotR show and anticipating a major fandom clash… As someone who will never support Amazon and fucking hates how they’re using their new show to make all their detractors seem like racists/sexists (despite how incredibly racist and abusive to PoC Amazon as a company is) and drum up good press to draw attention away from their recent human rights abuses and controversies… I reserve the right to not wholeheartedly welcome fans of the Rings of Power adaptation into my fandom.

I know other Tolkien fans who’ve watched (pirated) it and they’ve all told me it’s just not great in an adaptation sense. From what I’ve seen of the plot and casting it looks like it was made by someone who’s never read even a chapter of Tolkien, and the designs/costuming look uninspired. I’m usually someone who adores adaptations, even shitty superhero films from the early 2000s, but the general inaccuracy of this one did it in for me, and it being picked up by Amazon is the final nail in the coffin for me. No thank you, I’m not going to let this soul-sucking company capitalize on my nostalgia.

A slightly pettier point, but if anyone’s first and only interacting with second and first age Tolkien characters comes from RoP I do actually think they should pick up a book and read. Like no Celebrimbor isn’t some fucking ugly ass crusty old white man. He was a HOTTIE and he lived and served cunt and then he got crucified by his dark lord boyfriend. Fuck Jeff Bezos, if anyone tries that shit in our god-honoring ao3 tag I’m gonna kill someone. It’s gonna be like when someone thinks they’re an expert on a video game and you’re like “have you ever played it?” And they say “no I just watched a YouTube video”.

I’m normally a much, much kinder person and maybe I’m overreacting but holy shit I hate how people are acting like this show is a GOOD THING when it’s clearly a marketing ploy by Amazon to associate LotR with their company and therefore give them a never ending stream of income.

Well, I think there are a few different things going on here, but yes.

When a new adaptation comes out that's going to have a massive audience, it's important to be able to defend some little spaces for the existing fandom. AO3 book fandom tags are going to get misused and stuck on fic for the live action version (in the usual way adaptations play out anyway). Tumblr tags will be a freeforall. So it's down to recs lists, mailing lists, discord servers, DW communities, and the like to maintain a space for the quiet-but-long-lived version of the fandom while the storm of a new adaptation thunders by overhead.

That's true even if the adaptation isn't a travesty, and it doesn't preclude being nice to the n00bs and welcoming them in if they are interested in the pre-existing fandom. But being "nice" doesn't mean erasing all distinctions between versions of the fandom and canon or turning every space into a 101 For N00bs space.

I mean, I enjoyed movie LOTR fandom and thought most aspects of those movies were a decent adaptation (except for Helm's Deep, Faramir wanting the ring, and everyfuckingthing about Gimli, GRRRRRRR). But it was still the case that we movie fans overran Tolkien-themed spaces with our Legolas/Aragorn fic, and that this was not always great. LOL. Same deal with the many iterations of Sherlock Holmes, even aside from the OOC horror that is Sherlock.

There's gatekeeping like quizzing everyone on whether they're enough of a Real Fan™ and being an ass just because someone wasn't born early enough to get into fandom in whatever decade...

And then there's gatekeeping like declaring that not every space is for every thing.

We need the latter in order for little subcultures to thrive.

your recent sebek and malleus artwork is too adorable!! we've seen you speak on malleus and lilia (which have been a delight to read), but what are your thoughts on silver? any favorite ships or circumstances you'd like to see?

You can tell how long it took to reply because that Sebek and Malleus artwork isn’t even recent anymore… thank you for your patience, Anon <3 And thank you for liking these two and reading our posts! Super happy to hear that.

Silver is such a good boy, we like him a lot. We love the sleepy kuudere white-haired boy type in general, so of course we have a big soft spot for him. Even though he isn’t the most actively involved character in the main story (and I believe he’ll get his chance to shine in the nearest future), everything we’ve learned about him so far from the vignettes and the Glorious Masquerade event has been delightful.

Silver is a sweetheart and is surprisingly similar to Deuce in the sense that he really cares about those who are close to him. Based on everything we’ve learned, I feel like he’s quite a selfless guy whose main priority is to make sure that people around him are safe and happy, especially his caretaker/father.

I really like that Silver is aloof, but quite sensitive: he cares about what people around him feel about him, not in a “I hope they like me” type of way, but in a “oh no, I made these people uncomfortable” type of way. It’s almost funny how much it bums him out when someone is upset with him at any level. I’m referring primarily to that vignette in which he overheard the way his classmates were discussing feeling creeped out by the way he behaved and expressed himself (i.e. not expressed himself at all). The moment Silver realised that he made someone uncomfortable, he believed it wass his duty to change himself and adapt to these people’s needs. This particular vignette was interesting and fun for a lot of reasons, and without it I wouldn’t have assumed that Silver cared so deeply about these things.

Because of his sleepiness and deadpan expression, one might assume that he isn’t emotionally present and doesn’t care much for his surroundings, but then I remember about this situation, and then I  also remember about how carefully he was trying to find a perfect souvenir for Lilia (with Idia’s help!) in the Glorious Masquerade event, and then I remember how he was trying to boost Idia’s confidence before the song in the same event, because Ortho asked Silver to take care of his brother while they’re on their trip, and of course Silver took this task very seriously and earnestly…

So, overall, Silver is great, we love him. He is also fun to draw, mostly because of his eyes and eyelashes, they’re so princessy and pretty. Although when it comes to scenarios we’d like to see him in… What I’ve described so far is sweet and wholesome and all, but to be honest, we tend to enjoy darker scenarios with these types of characters, and Silver has plenty of potential for it, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we ended up making this poor boy suffer. But it’ll definitely be out of love!

And ships, first of all, Silver’s relationship with Sebek are great. We’re having a lot of fun whenever they interact. I love how they grew up together and know each other so well and definitely care for each other, but the bickering, THE BICKERING!... Their bickering (well, Sebek yelling and Silver blinking very slowly) is always entertaining to watch. Not to mention, in the Glorious Masquerade they pretty much had a Gimli-Legolas exchange at a certain point, and I simply can’t forgive them for it, how dare they be this perfect together lol Ships that are somewhat based on rivalry are always good, but when one part of the ship takes the said rivalry much more seriously than the other part, it makes everything even better. Sebek is so eager to be better than Silver, and Silver is just like… “aw, he is so happy that he’s taller than me now, good for him”

We also mentioned a couple of times already that we ship Lilia and Silver. We talked about them a little bit at the end of our monstrously huge OruIde and problematic shipping reply. But in short, their relationships are unique and intriguing, and we really love both of these guys. Just as with OruIde, while we can appreciate and love the familial and platonic reading of their relationship (and we do), as shippers we do love more messed up themes, so these two are definitely up there.

Also, even though it’s on a very early stage and isn’t even a proper ship, we do like the fact that Silver gets to interact with Kalim and that Kalim seems to understand his emotional state quite well despite Silver not being very emotive. So yeah, these two are neat.

(And tho Byler are most often compared to samfrodo, I think in this scenario they would be more like Legolas and Gimli, hopefully making sure his love dearest friend gets to go with him.) ofc, again I could be way off, but just what I was thinking.

ajlsajlasdj i am once again making a surprised pikachu face and blushing at you pointing out something about my writing. i'm glad you liked that first sentence!! it's been so fun in this fic to describe the seasons passing and what-not. my more popular fics (like to hell and back again, cheer up baby, and what a match) all have really heavy time or place constraints, so this one has been nice to be able to let it flow more naturally and see where it takes me. it's become very near and dear to my heart, so i'm especially grateful for people like you for keeping up with it!!

how would you rate the lotr + hobbit movies, from 1 to 5 stars?

TIME TO REWRITE THESE RATINGS AS I REWATCH (in January 2024) THESE BECAUSE LAST YEAR MY ANSWERS SUCKED.

Lord of the Rings:

The Fellowship of the Ring - 4 stars. I think this movie has a marvelous introduction to Middle Earth and its lore without ever resulting tedious, I absolutely adore the way they worked around Arwen characters to make her more involved in the plot and more interesting overall. While I don't agree with all narrative choices and tiny lore imperfections bother more than they should (WHY DOES GIMLI CALL MORIA "MORIA" FOR ONCE IT'S AN ELVISH NAME) this movie is insane. Boromir's death makes me cry ugly to this day. Only real flaw it has is that because the FotR book is really slow and at times a little boring, the movie feels also slow at times.

The Two Towers - 4,5 stars. THE BATTLE OF HELM'S DEEP. THE ATTACK ON ISENGARD. This movie is packed with good interactions faithful to the text, wonderful action scenes, and most important of all, Eowyn is there. It's probably the closest all the movies get to the books. I love the portrayal of the Rohirrim. Not a full 5 stars again for the Gimli slander, I really can't stand the fact that this is the movie where he decided to make him a fully comic relief character. Also I love Legolas surfing a shield while he shoots enemies, 10/10.

The Return of the King - 4 stars. This movie is wonderful, makes me cry every time I rewatch it but by god the ENDING NEVER COMES. My girlfriend and I rewatched the whole extended trilogy a couple years ago and we both nodded off for a good half an hour during the very last bit of the movie, and when we woke back up, Aragorn was yet to be crowned. Not a full five stars because they cut out the scene where Eomer finds Eowyn on the battlefield and thinks her dead from the released version, despite it being the best, most heartwrenching scene in the movies. I do love the "what about side by side with a friend" scene but it doesn't fix the fact that Peter Jackson pretty much saw Legolas and Gimli's relationship in the books, spit on it and replaced it with Legolas and Aragorn instead. Personal gripes aside, this movie deserves all the recognition it got.

The Hobbit (sigh):

An Unexpected Journey - 2,5 stars. This is probably the best one of the trilogy, because it's the only one that mostly follows the book and has fun, light scenes, where the rest of the movies tend to get overserious for no reason. They butchered the HELL out of Dwarven lore and managed to avoid having to characterize any dwarf that wasn't Thorin despite having 12 others to work with, many of which are RELATED to Thorin. I hate Martin Freeman's ugly dog face so much still, but I can admit sometimes his Bilbo works, I just have a personal bias against it. I love Richard Armitage as Thorin and to me he's the shining jewel of the trilogy, BUT I hate his shorn beard and how young he looks. Thorin is OLD, he's an old king without a kingdom, he's bitter and he's proud, the characterization is decent enough but it really feels like they made him ""hot"" and closer looking to a human just because he's a character of relevance - same thing with Kili, by the way. Also I hate a movie about dwarves that treats the lot of them like comic reliefs.

The Desolation of Smaug - 1,5 stars. This movie is BORING. I literally can't stand to watch it fully because my eyes start watering from boredom. So many useless introductions to characters that don't matter at all, especially the Elves outside of Thranduil. If I love what FotR did with Arwen, I absolutely despise that they only female character they add to the movie is not only boring and uninteresting, she's also just some guy's love interest - AND TO MAKE A ELF/DWARF ROMANCE BORING TO ME IT REALLY MEANS YOU BOTCHED THE HELL OUT OF IT. The only scenes that I like in the movies are the ones with Smaug. Bilbo talking to him? Good stuff. The whole chase scene is insanely stupid but it's kinda genius? absolutely. Calling a dragon stupid and fat and splashing it with molten gold truly does solve problems. The rating could have been higher if I didn't hate the whole deal with Tauriel and Legolas so fucking much. Why is Legolas in this movie dear fucking god I love him but I genuinely think he makes it worse just in virtue of being there. Also THRAIN DOESN'T MENTION HIS DAUGHTER DIS IN HIS LAST WORDS FUCK THIS THIS MOVIE IS STUPID.

The Battle of the Five Armies - 2 stars. This movie sucks BUT I don't completely hate the portrayal of Dwarves in this one and Dàin Ironfoot's presence makes the whole movie shine. Last time I said this was my favourite and I was wrong, I just like Thorin, the movie is so stupid it's insane, it went so far away from The Hobbit but it doesn't stand well enough on its own. The whole deal with the Necromancer works so poorly compared to the insane zigzag of alternating POVs in The Two Towers, it feels shoehorned in there and it doesn't fit, it detracts from y know the BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES. I love Thorin's death scene so much but all the other ones felt so cheap in comparison. Also gonna be controversial but the gaybaiting was tasty, and imo no one would have liked the movies weren't it for the decision to give Bilbo and Thorin a could have been something relationship. It really feels like they added it to make tumblr give it some shipping attention. The scene of Thranduil telling Legolas to "go north and find the Dúnedain" is so funny GO NORTH WHERE. NORTH OF EREBOR? TO FIND ARAGORN WHO AT THE TIME WAS A FUCKING CHILD AND LIVING IN FUCKING RIVENDELL? FUCK YOU AND YOUR LEGOLAS/ARAGORN AGENDA PETER JACKSON.

Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers

When I was younger The Two Towers was easily the lord of the rings film I loved the most and is the one I feel the most nostalgia for, there is so much amazing content in this film, its packed with moments.

To start off Gollum acts as a great antagonist, the mix of pure disgust and discomfort you feel towards him combined with the pity you feel when seeing the real Smeagol trying to get out, his best moment is his conversation between his multiple personalities and the way it is edited to make it seem the are talking at each other. Andy Serkis' performance is as amazing as always, whenever he is doing motion capture work he shines and Gollum still looks good, the effects hold up and the cast interact very well with him, its never unbelievable he is interacting with the rest of the cast.

A lot of people aren't a huge fan of the Merry and Pippin subplot in this film and whilst I can admit at times it does slow the pace down a lot and can feel meandering I really enjoy the worldbuilding of the Ents, the character of Tree beard is also lots of fun and the the sound effects on his voice are awesome, (the reverberation but comforting sound of it). I also think Merry gets two great moments to shine, his speech about the Ents needing to help is heroic and inspiring and the way he lies about being ill to Pippin shows how brave these two little Hobbits really are.

The opening scene with Gandalf is beyond epic and serves as a great tone setter, showing how a lot of the fun and whimsy of the first one has disappeared as the seriousness of this war sets in. However this film still has lots of fun moments and genuinely great jokes, especially between Legolas and Gimli and the scene where Aragorn is eating the terrible stew. In general this film is excellent at upping the stakes of the first film, even small details like having Ringwraiths riding the strange dragon creatures instead of horses makes them even scarier.

However, the main reason I adore this film so much is the battle of Helms Deep which I whole heartedly believe is the greatest large scale battle in film history. The way this battle escalates and builds until its inspiring and beautiful climax is unparalleled. Having the dramatic opening standstill, then the ladders and the initial Uruk-hai attack, then escalating with the explosion of the wall, then to the ram and the retreat of the heroes forces only to switch the pace with the final heroic charge, its truly a masterclass in stakes and action. Additionally, the dynamic of the trio, Legolas, Gimli and Aragorn is at its best here, the banter and rivalry between Legolas and Gimli, the "toss me," moment as well as there love and respect for each other and devotion to saving each other is awesome.

Also, I enjoy how Helms Deep and the Ents conflict both end in victory, having Saruman's forces defeated but Frodo and Sam's side of the story ends with them running away as the real threat of Sauron himself and Mordor takes centre stage, very much showing they haven't won the war whilst also creating two satisfying victories.

ASSORTED INJURY STARTERS

       IRREGULAR WERE THE BLOSSOMS of red along the elf’s tunic of green & brown , starkly was the colour contrast with so fresh a spill of one’s life blood. it had no time to dry & wither in hue to a russet that may blend with the other shades of brown or mayhap mistaken for a stain of blood from one that had been slain. yet carmine & crimson was the blood that soaked along the fabric. miscolouring the fine cloth that surrounded the silt the enemies blade had made through the material.

       IN TRUTH HE HAD felt little of the injury , so keenly focused was he upon the fight. reflexes innate & senses honed upon those who sought to end , or seriously maim , himself & those he called friends. unable to abide that want of evil , he set upon the battle with a deadly ferocity & tireless vigour that beheld the woodland realm’s top warriors. although prince he may be , he did not earn that stop through position & title only , it took proof of skill & centuries hard work.

       VICTORIOUS THEY HAD BEEN. dead or dying were those who had thought them easy prey. a feeling of breathlessness , odd but not uncommon after battle , he was as he returned towards where he'd last had seen his companions. seeking them to be reassured of their wellness , or offer assist should they need it , valar forbid they need it direly. however it was the startled words of a voice he knew well had brought forth an awareness of himself he’d lost during the skirmish. following the dwarf’s gaze back to himself , there he saw what had alarmed the other so.

       THE WORDS WOULD INSPIRE greater confidence should they be uttered with more strength & without the subtle slur they held between the vowels. accent thickened , interlaying within the syllables. tongue tripping & falling lazy upon the pronunciations of the westron speech , yet knowing the dwarf would understand sindarin little & silvan none , he sought to keep his wits about him. least enough to communicate & ease the supposed worries of the other.

Orc lovers gotta stuck together. Not many people post about Shadow or Mordor or even orcs in general and I really enjoy seeing your guy's names over and and over. It makes a sense of community that I really enjoy.

Coincidentally I'm literally listening to To the Sea! To the Sea! right now!

one aspect about them i love: Cutest person to ever live on Middle-Earth. Just a sweetheart. He loves so many things and so many people, and his love is just so pure and joyful, I often physically smile while reading his delight at the simplest things.

one aspect i wish more people understood about them: I feel like people occasionally overemphasize how wild he is for an elf? Yeah, Mirkwood is bizarre, but like. Of the elven princes of LotR, Elrond's sons are the ones running all over Middle-Earth hunting orcs. Between one spider and another, Legolas is probably drinking wine, having little picnics and learning songs. He's a prince and can act like one!

one (or more) headcanon(s) i have about this character: Even for an elf, he knows many songs. Not because he's necessarily known for his musical skills, but because he's very, very curious and a fast learner, and songs are a huge part of how elves transmit knowledge. Absolutely delighted to learn songs from other cultures as he travels with the Fellowship, too

one character i love seeing them interact with: I want to say Gimli because I love their storyline, but in terms of sheer joy at seeing them interact? Aragorn. The way Aragorn is half Legolas's age but he clearly is the adult in every situation is just amazing. Also the way Aragorn is just constantly explaining things to Legolas and Legolas is so teachable about it is just adorable

one character i wish they would interact with/interact with more: The hobbits! He loves the hobbits so much but we see that mostly in the context of him talking about them rather than interacting with them. Especially Pippin, who is I think the only person in the Fellowship that can rival Legolas's baby of the team energy

one (or more) headcanon(s) i have that involve them and one other character: This is an unexpected character to have a Legolas headcanon about but hear me out: after canon, Legolas adores Arwen. Aragorn loves her so much and she's the granddaughter of Galadriel who Gimli loves so much, and then! She's cool! She's wise! She's graceful and Luthien-like and as kind as Elrond! How can Legolas not think she's amazing!

I had such a blast creating this past week and getting to know each and every one of you. Aragorn waits, keeping an eye on the trees.

The minute his friends from the eastern inn arrive, they will leave town.

He had a pleasant night — private room, hot bath, well-prepared meals — but is ready to get back on their journey. For all he knows, the brief rest he allowed them could have already cost them vital time.

That thought causes him to pace.

“Calm yourself, dear friend, they will be along shortly,” Gandalf councils.

Aragorn tries to heed the wise wizard’s advice. Sure enough, he soon hears the light sounds of feet crushing grass and twigs, and knows they are close.

The four of them break into sight at roughly the same time, and Aragorn notices two things:

One, Legolas and Y/n refuse to look at each other.

Two, Gimli wears a grin bright enough to rival the sun.

Aragorn knows he must speak with the dwarf as soon as possible.

Something has happened.

Merry, who doesn’t get enough credit for his observation skills, notices the oddities too, and elbows Pippin in the side. Their eyes grow wide, and it takes everything in them not to shout guesses as to what this means.

It is a good while before Aragorn, Pippin, Merry, and Gimli have a chance to convene and discuss the new development. All four of them, though of course dedicated to the task at hand, desperately want a resolution to their ongoing bet.

It had started innocently enough.

Merry made an off-hand comment about how well Legolas and Y/n seem to get along. Gimli noticed the lass was a clumsier fighter when Legolas was watching. Aragorn realized his friend seemed nervous around the human woman. Pippin saw how each of them smiled brighter when the other was near.

Somehow or other, the four of them had put together their observations, and the rest is history.

The bet was born.

Each of them had put down fifteen coins and a deadline, losing the coins if Legolas and Y/n did not become a couple by the deadline, and winning coins if they did. Knowing his friend’s shy nature well, Aragorn had given the two the lengthiest allowance — six months. Pippin and Merry recognized the bold nature of humans, and guessed it would only take four months for Y/n to speak her mind and Legolas to reciprocate. Gimli, on the other hand, thought the two were already head-over-heels for each other and wouldn’t be able to keep quiet about it, and had given them only a month and a half.

Each participant, knowing his deadline was drawing nearer, had taken steps to push the two in the right direction.

The hobbit friends moved Legolas’ and Y/n’s bedrolls closer when they weren’t looking.

Aragorn put them on watch together. A lot. To the point where he actually felt bad about the bags under Y/n’s eyes.

But Gimli, perhaps, had been the boldest of them all, and proudly tells his friends so the moment they are alone much later that evening.

“Quickly, they are suspicious why it took four of us to gather firewood and herbs,” Aragorn mutters, darting a quick glance in the direction of camp.

“Yes, just get on with it,” Pippin squeaks, then throws a hand over his mouth, knowing he might alert Legolas with his volume.

“Alright, listen up lads.” Gimli grins and proudly tells his tale. “Boromir and I got to the inn first, as planned, and the innkeeper asked how many were in our party. I said two, and the innkeeper made a comment how it was good we didn’t have more folk waiting outside, as his inn was almost full. Well, that got me thinkin’, so I inquired how many more rooms were available. The innkeeper said two, not including the ones Boromir and I purchased. So I whipped out my velvet pouch and paid for another room, fibbin’ a bit and saying I might have a lady friend visiting and wasn’t sure if she would want to sleep in my room or not after our activities.” He wiggles his eyebrows in response to the stunned looks of his friend.

Aragorn shakes his head slowly, a bemused smile setting in his lips. “So you paid for an extra room just to force Legolas and Y/n into sharing?”

“Right you are,” Gimli grins, placing his fists on his hips. “It wasna even that expensive — I’ll make it back three times over, now that I’ve won this thing.”

“Ah, ah, ah, hold on,” Merry holds up a hand, halting Gimli’s gloat. “You can’t prove they did or said anything to start a courtship, so you haven’t won!”

“They won’t even look at each other and the elf’s as red as a strawberry, of course something happened,” Gimli practically shouts.

Aragorn, reliably a voice of reason, intervenes. “We shall have to inquire then, but be smart about it. We do not want to jeopardize their potential courtship with our game.”

The companions agree, then quickly turn to the forest, gathering firewood and herbs to supplement Sam’s soup and their cover story.

Back at camp, Legolas sits on a low tree branch, keeping watch over all his friends.

But mostly Y/n.

He cannot pull his eyes from her face. She sits on a rock, staring into the fire, absently cleaning the mud from her boots. Without permission, his mind goes back to the way he held her this morning, tucked against his chest, her leg wrapped around his. It was wildly improper, and he should be ashamed of himself.

But he doesn’t feel ashamed. Because the way they woke up this morning didn’t feel improper, it felt natural. With all his heart, Legolas wants to wake up like that every morning — his favorite person kept safely against his side. He wants to guard her and give her a wonderful life and bring her home and have his people adore her, too.

Legolas’ resolve hardens, because he knows he can no longer keep this to himself. Y/n has a right to know how he feels, because it affects her too.

He pushes himself from the branch, landing on the ground in silence. With four long strides, he stops beside her, reaching down a hand. “Will you talk with me?”

She looks up at him, nerves like she’s never felt before erupting within her. But she gathers her courage, forces what she hopes is a smile, and takes Legolas’ hand.

She wonders what he’ll say.

All day, she had been lost in embarrassment. Somehow in the night, she’d thrown her leg over his and practically attached herself to his chest — who does that?! And he’d said nothing when they woke up, only got up and went about his routine like normal.

So obviously, he doesn’t feel anything for her.

And that’s what this conversation has to be about.

Briefly, though, she allows herself to remember what it felt like to be in his embrace, and knows that she will cherish that feeling forever.

The warmth of his hand in hers helps her hold on to that memory and, to her surprise, when they reach a secluded spot, he does not let go. No, he takes her other hand in his, clutching both tightly.

Legolas nearly shakes with nerves, and he wonders if she can tell? Does she know how he feels like he might be sick? Oh, he has never felt anxiety like this before, and desperately wishes for it to be gone.

So he wastes no time in putting himself out of his misery.

“I want to be with you.”

Y/n blinks. Surely she can’t have heard him correctly? “What?”

Legolas sighs — her reaction gives him no indication how she feels either way. He bolsters his courage, and tries again. “I feel affection for each member of this Fellowship. But whereas I love the others as if they were my kin, I am unable to deny that how I love you is different. Elves live long lives and thus take matters of the heart very seriously. And, well,” he shrugs, all eloquence leaving him the moment he sees the shy, hopeful smile spread across her lips. “My heart is with you.”

Y/n can hardly believe her ears. She thought that he didn’t…that there was no chance of…but rather than dwell on all her miscalculations, or the myriad of dangers that haunt their future, she decides to just enjoy the moment. She throws her arms around Legolas’ neck, and he grips her tightly against him.

She turns her cheek to rest on his shoulder, unable to contain her grin. “You hold mine as well. I love you, Legolas.”

He pulls back only to rest his forehead against hers, head swimming from the joy of her acceptance and at being this close to her. “And I love you.” She lets out a giddy laugh and he closes his eyes, soaking in the sound. But then he focuses again, for there is something important he still must ask. “Will you accept my offer of courtship?”

Y/n can’t help herself from bumping her nose against his affectionately, and it feels so wonderful, so free to be with him this way. She has no desire for her future to continue without him, and so, her answer is found easily. “Of course.”

Relief settles in Legolas’ bones, the nerves finally leaving him and being replaced with happiness.

Just as their lips meet, the four friends break through the tree-line, back from collecting supplies.

Gimli’s triumphant shout can be heard for miles.

“Pay up, lads!”

A/n The end! This is the last chapter of this mini-series! Thanks for sticking with me as I had some fun with this one. Aerinithil Character Sheet

i’m so delighted to introduce you to my new OC, Aeri! I’m so nervous about this, but I really adore her and I’m so proud of the work I’ve put into her so I hope you all love her!

Aeri, by the incredibly kind person and wonderful artist @lady-latte !!!

Name: Aerinithil, meaning ‘sea of moonlight’ is the name given to her by her elven mother.

Nickname: Aeri. It’s what her father called her when she was little, and it’s stuck. (pronounced air-rhee)

Heritage: Half-elf, half-human. Her parents were an elf from Lothlorien and a man from Rohan that got lost and fell in love with her mother. They disappeared from everyone they knew and lived together in the foothills of the mountains west of Fangorn, raising Aeri there. The only being that ever knew there had been another union between elf and man was Gandalf. They were killed by orcs when she was in her 40s, her father living a very long life for a human. However, she was not offered the choice between a human lifespan, and an elven one, instead only given an extended lifespan. However, she doesn't know how long that lifespan is until she meets Gandalf for the first time.

Age: She was born on February 14, TA 2414, and is almost six hundred years old at the Council of Elrond.

Appearance: Aeri is 6’3, a normal height for an elf, but tall for a human. However, she is shorter than Aragorn, who stands at 6’6. She’s very muscular after so many centuries of physical activity, and lean, but not slender like the elves, a reminder of her human heritage. She does have the elven pointed ears, though.

Her hair is a mahogany color and wavy, reaching to the small of her back when she actually leaves it down. Which is rare- one of the things she hates the most is having hair in her face, so it is almost always in a long ponytail or various kinds of braids.

Aeri has piercing blue eyes, a much darker blue than usually seen, but with starbursts of aquamarine around the pupils. She has a smattering of freckles across the bridge of her nose and a few around her face. She also has a triangle of freckles on her right shoulder, something that her father had too, which has always puzzled her but she sees it as a connection to him. Her nose is slightly upturned, and her lips are somewhere in between rounded and heart-shaped, but she can never decide which.

She has a lot of scars all over, a result of centuries of fighting and a whole lot of clumsiness. She has one on the bottom of her chin from tripping as a child, that Aragorn tried for years to get the story about out of her and once he succeeded has not let her forget it. She received a scar at Helm’s Deep that stretches from her hip, across her thigh and almost to her knee. She also has a small one on her cheek from where an arrow grazed her during the battle at the Black Gate.

Personal Information: Aeri is usually very hostile with new people, but secretly craves connection and is rather touch-starved. She’s become almost numb by the time she joins the Fellowship and only does that because she received a message from Gandalf, who, when she met him centuries before, had promised to never ask her for anything unless the situation was truly dire.

She does have a sense of humor and enjoys the antics of the hobbits. Her common sense is strong, and her intuition is finely honed. She’s also inquisitive, sensitive, and has a large amount of hope, qualities that come to light as she starts to unconsciously think of and treat the Fellowship as a family.

Aeri is scared of bees, but she doesn’t know why (and thinks bumblebees are adorable, she’s just scared of any other kind). She has nightmares about her parents’ deaths that constantly trouble her, and hundreds of years later often wonders that if she’d been there, would she have been able to save them? She also suffers from panic attacks and is very nervous in large crowds, but she has learned how to cope over the years, and Aragorn teaches her tricks he uses as well.

In the years between her parents’ deaths and joining the Fellowship, she traveled Arda, visiting everywhere from the Shire to Erebor. She always returned home to the cabin in the foothills of the Misty Mountains near Fangorn, alone, with the books and goods she brought back to keep her company. And her horses and dogs over the years.

She’s fantastic with any weapon you put in her hands, but her favorites are her long twin daggers (that she bonds with Legolas over) and her long cutlass that befuddles Aragorn and Boromir.

Friends: Once the Fellowship gets her to trust them, on the way to Caradhras, she opens up a little more. She becomes fast friends with Merry and Pippin but enjoys Sam’s quieter company and Frodo’s thoughtfulness as well. She also knows a lot about compulsion and temptation and helps Frodo with the ring. Boromir quickly becomes her brother-in-arms, and she manages to take down the Uruk-hai that tried to kill him, saving his life. Legolas has a harder time trusting Aeri, especially because he can see the elvishness in her but knows she’s not fully elven. However, when she rescues him from an orc patrol one night they become friends, and he teaches her more about her heritage. She and Gimli don’t interact much until Moria, but he sees the respect she’s showing and they begin to like each other.

During the several months between her arrival in Rivendell/The Council of Elrond and the Fellowship’s departure, she becomes friends with Arwen, the first being she lets her guard down around in many years. However, she always feels a sense of jealousy around the elf, which she doesn’t realize is because of her feelings for Aragorn for a long time.

She also becomes really close with both Glorfindel and Erestor during her time in Rivendell, enjoying the warrior’s battle-wisdom and humor and the councilor’s quiet thoughtfulness and sass.

Love Interest: Aeri and Aragorn do confess their feelings for each other some time during the quest, much to Merry and Pippin’s delight when they hear of it. However, it takes a while, and there is lots of pining along the way as both think the other wants nothing more than to be friends. Aeri is intimidated by the fact that Aragorn is the Heir of Isildur, and Aragorn is intimidated by the fact that Aeri is a half-elf that’s been alive for eight hundred-ish years. Some hilarity ensues from this as well, much to Boromir and Legolas’s enjoyment.

General headcannons of the au

a/n: i'm working in the kitchen of the restaurant this year, for the first time, and it's being a bit traumatizing to adapt to it. honestly i mostly feel like shit while working, so i decided that this is going to be my stupid way of coping with it when i'm home. enjoy.

anyway, here's some headcannons to start with:

- Aragorn is the one who orders the food. I don't know why I am so sure of this, but he would be the one coordinating the whole group when it comes to interaction with the waitresses. Even if Gandalf is there with them.

- Legolas is a perfect gentleman with the waitresses, and the same goes with Frodo and Sam. They're always polite, and kind, no matter what of situation occures, in their table. Legolas and Frodo thank the waittesses at least twice whenever they do something. (e.g: a thank you when they come to the table with the food, and a thank you when they leave).

- Sam thanks the waitresses everytime too, but he's most entertained thinking about the food almost in a chef/food critic way. He will always tell the waitress what he thinks of the dosh, and it's always a short but sweet compliment - he always asks to compliment the chef.

- Gimli and the hobbits in general scare the shit out of the staff with how much they eat, but especially Merry and Pippin. They are the living hell of the kitchen and the staff washing the dishes.

- Actually the whole group ends up being problematic because: Aragorn, Boromir and Legolas eat the normal amount of food for a person, but the elf usually asks for a vegetarian dish that has to be made at the time; Gimli, Frodo and Sam eat for two people each, (though, upon noticing how tiresome it is for the staff tge two hobbits start ordering less food for them) and the dwarf usually prefers the rare meat; then there's Merry and Pippin who eat for about 3 people each, and are either blind enough not to understand how it weights down the restaurant or too hungry to feel guilt in their innocence; then there's Gandalf who somehow is satisfied with like... a soup? It always ends up with a gigantic and stupidly diversed order that takes ages to make and makes other clients wait longer to be served.

- Merry and Pippin are like children in two specific ways, they are a bit too loud and enthusiastic sometimes, and they order the same food as children usually do ("and a plate of fries, please!!").

- Gimli is always safisfied, and will always compliment both chef and waitresses for the food and the service, always wifh some kind of story that the waitresses usually don't have time for, but he is lovable and appreciated everytime anyway, because of his kindness.

- Gimli always laughs at jokes that Boromir makes that tend to scare the shit out of some of the staff (*coughs* me.). Boromir is borderline annoying with it, and Aragorn usually ends up apologizing for him, but he is nevertheless nice to the waitresses, and always gives the staff a new story to laugh at each other.

- Gandalf is so nice to the waitresses, speaking politely and kindly, though, after he eats his soup he octen spends quite some time smoking his pipe. Aragorn joins him for a few minutes sometimes.

- Aragorn is to this day the salvation of the waitresses because of how helpful he is. Precisely because he controls the dynammic of everything, whenever they need to ask anything, the waitresses can just go directly to him. He is the parent of the group.

- Once he becomes more acquaintance with the staff, he tends to ask about the easiest/most convinent hours for tbrm to come and always books for that time, because he is aware of how complicated the group is - he comes to a point of apologising for everything that Merry and Pippin order, everytime.

- Merry and Pippin even get to go with the waitress to the see new deserts, and the kitchen staff find hilarious how they eat like 3 grown men and still look like children.

- Sam goes with them and is amazed. He also gets to know the staff that makes the food he adores and gives them all the positive feedback. He eventually makes a habit lf saying hi to the chef after his meal, sometimes accompanied by the other hobbits.

- Aragorn is always the one who pays, but Gandalf is usually the one to leave the tip - always a good amount.

- Frodo always eats the same desert: biscuit cake. All the times he went to the restaurant that was what hr would have.

- Gimli tends to go for the restaurant's exclusive dessert. He and Sam are trying to guess what is the recipe and ingridients that even most staff doesn't know. Gimli tries to make them tell him what it is but he is never successful.

- Every single waitress loves Frodo. He is baby.

- And every single staff person finds Legolas attractive. Some of the people in the kitchen are always trying to sneak their way to the room where he is just to take a look at him. It always makes him confused and Boromir teases the shit out of him but nevertheless he smiles at them.

- Whenever something breaks, or falls, or is mistaken, or whatever happens Boromir is the first one to reassure the waitress that it's alright, and not to get anxious :).

Okay ships: sakuatsu, bokuaka, and Legolas/gimli

I’m laughing at the range of this

1. I’m just a fan of the enemies to lovers these two got going on.

2. They’re so different and yet so similar and I simply adore the dynamic they could have in canon if there were more interactions of them! It’s just fun to think about them, because they’re not the typical head-over-heels ship, at least not the way I view them.

3. Unpopular opinion: Idk if this is unpopular but I don’t see them as love at first sight, but something they both chose to work on

Bokuaka

Of course I ship them lmfao have you seen the amount of fanart I have of them in my room (you actually have)

1. I don’t know? I feel like it was a combination of Bokuto being my bestie’s favourite character and Akaashi being my favourite, so I was already fond of them, and then I saw a bunch of fanart and then I read Cat’s fics and then i wrote my fic and then it was game over for me

2. They’re so understanding of each other. They don’t need a lot of words to communicate how they both feel, they just know. They see below the surface of each other, they have this familiarity and connectedness that makes my heart melt <3 and they are love at first sight and I just 🥺

3. Akaashi isn’t Bokuto’s babysitter and Bokuto isn’t the dumb boyfriend 😭 people can interpret the characters the way they want, I generally don’t care, it’s fandom, it’s fun, it’s not that deep and everyone can do whatever they want with these characters, but I just can’t get behind this (but that’s my personal opinion and if anyone disagrees that’s completely fine)

Legolas/Gimli

Do I ship it? Yes I do. OG Elf/Dwarf ship. Tauriel/Kili walked so Legolas/Gimli could run.

1. It’s kinda the Romeo and Juliet type of situation, two groups (elves and dwarves) against each other, and then there’s these two who grow close. Like come on, forbidden love is such a good trope and I adore the thought of Legolas introducing Gimli as his boyfriend to Thranduil, like imagine LOL. They overcome their differences and form a bond and it’s simply fantastic.

2. Their rivalry. Their constant competitiveness. Their constant urge to beat each other, be better than the other, while ultimately looking out for one another. Also the repressed feelings until the very end when they finally admit they’re friends? They’re so emotionally constipated and it makes for a great dynamic. Also they leave together to stay together until the end of their days. If that isn’t gay then idk what is

3. Unpopular opinion: I don’t know if I have one?? I don’t concern myself enough with this ship to know what is popular and what isn’t 😅 except ooo let me stir the pot: Legolas/Gimli are a thousand times better than Tauriel/Kili. Call me a hater on that one, I don’t careeeee

i’m glad to hear more are of that opinion , thank you for saying so ! platonic love is just as important as romantic love , it’s sad that it’s usually brushed off as not or that it must develop into romantic love to have any merit.

one author who inspires me in my writing is patrick o’brian because of his descriptions in his writing. i love the detail he places in describing a scene ! i’ve hear some say he’s too descriptive but i love that , it’s truly helps me see what’s happening in my minds eye & i think a lot of authors nowadays rely on the reader to fill in the blanks or just assume what’s happening / the finer details of a scene / the microexpressions & subtle notes within body language or tones. which is fine , but i do much prefer & feel all the more inspired when i read an author’s in-depth descriptions. ( not to mention i love the dynamics between aubrey & maturin <3 ) he inspires me to add how much detail i want , that no amount of detail is too much.

favourite quote(s) : “ For a moment Jack felt the strongest inclination to snatch up his little gilt chair and beat the white-faced man down with it ; ” — Master & Commander ( book 1 ) , it’s thought by jack about stephen upon their first meeting , this line never fails to make me laugh when i read it because stephen can be so pretentious & jack just wanted to enjoy the music agdjfkglg but hey they turn out good friends in the end

““ Jack, you've debauched my sloth. ”” — H.M.S. Surprise ( book 3 ) , said by stephen when he came back from a lesson in teaching bonden to read to find that jack had got his sloth drunk on grog & cake , it’s just a very funny line & i find the interaction between jack & the sloth rather adorable the entire thing. although i don’t condone his actions in giving the animal alcohol , that is bad.

i fear this post would get too long if i were to quote my favourite descriptions from patrick o’brien or any more quotes from him , but i will mention another funny one is when stephen basically trips over the ship’s cat down a hatchway & when i believe it was a wombat of stephen’s tried to eat Jack’s hat , when jack called stephen to help him , the doctor just said it wouldn’t hurt the wombat ahdkflglg. another sweet one is when jack accepts hollom as midshipman even though there’s hardly room on Surprise for him , jack suspects hollom is near tears at the look on his face & changes his mind.

another author who i very much love is j.r.r. tolkien. again i love his attention to detail in describing things. as well as all the detail he placed into his world building for his books , creating his own languages & all the names / maps , events , theology , etc. that he created or took influence from to create middle earth & all its content. plus the overall stories ( meaning the hobbit & lotr ) are inspiring in themselves. as well i love his words choice / sentence structures , it’s reads wonderfully & archaic when i love ! he inspires to me add details that some may not think of & to add detail wherever i see fit.

favourite quote(s) : “ All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us. ” — The Fellowship of the Ring , The Lord of the Rings ( book 1 ) , i like this quote because it simply sums up that our time is important & we must do our best to spend it how we see fit because it is our time & our life. I just remember this quote being very impactful to younger me when i first read it & it still rather is.

i love all the scenes in two towers with gimli , legolas , & aragorn as well. not a specific quote but their interactions are some of my favourites , their dynamics & path are something i can always reread & never tire of <3

again there are several quotes i could take from tolkien’s works to say here as a favourite , but this answer is already so long. i apologise. this is a topic i could converse about over countless hours.

as well i want to mention c.s. forester because his descriptions on sailing are very good & too i like that hornblower is a very flawed yet brilliant character who battles with low self esteem , he just seems a very real character. so it’s definitely an influence to ensure characters i write aren’t glorified to the point of being without flaw or always choosing the correct course the first time. let your character screw up & make mistakes , have doubts & be human. that’s what he inspires me to do when i write. ( as well bush & hornblower <3 love those two )

too i love the scene between hornblower & kennedy in Mr. Midshipman Hornblower when they get caught by bolton being absolute dorks. it’s nice to see a lighter side to hornblower. same with the scene in Lieutenant Hornblower after bush hear that hornblower has been promoted & they drink , bush is still recovering & gets a bit drunk so hornblower is helping him away & bush is just grinning & singing ‘he’s a jolly good fellow’

Requested: Yes (I had another idea for a Pippin x fem human reader, you can think it as a continuation if you want, can i request it? During the celebrations of the victory over Isengard Pippin gets jealous of the reader's interactions with Eomer. He misunderstands her thinking she likes Eomer and the confusion of the situation leads to her confesing her feelings for him because , while the fellowship did, Pip haven't realized yet that she loves him. Summary: Pippin doesn’t understand human emotions and interactions. His mindset leads him to believe you and Eomer like each other.

A/N: I believe this is requested by the same anon who requested this specific imagine. This is kind of a part 2, because an event that happened in that imagine will be mentioned here. 

Pippin had terribly missed you while he was in Fangorn Forest with Merry and Treebeard. You were separated when he, along with Merry, were captured. In fact, he never saw you during the battle at Amon Hen. They were with Boromir, while you were with Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli. By the time you arrived with Legolas and Gimli, Boromir was already dead, and Merry and Pippin were already gone.

So you could imagine his happiness when he saw you arrive with Aragorn, Legolas, Gandalf, and Gimli on horses, even though he was high. He may or may not have begged Aragorn to let him ride with you on the way to Edoras. He also may or may not have held you so tightly you almost suffocated from his grip. 

Everyone was celebrating over the victory of Isengard in Edoras, and Merry and Pippin were having the time of their life and stole the show. You and Eomer, who you befriended when he returned from his banishment, were giving Legolas and Gimli their drinks for their drinking game. Because both dwarves and elves have a much higher alcohol tolerance than you and Eomer as humans, the contest took forever.

Once Gimil finally passed out, leaving Legolas with a smug smirk on his face, the three of you remaining conscious turned to watch Merry and Pippin start dancing on the table with the other humans around them cheering.

“Oh, you can search far and wide

You can drink the whole town dry 

But you'll never find a beer so brown

But you'll never find a beer so brown

As the one we drink in our home town

As the one we drink in our home town”

They started stomping on the table with their bare feet then swapped places.

“You can drink your fancy ales

You can drink em by the flagon

But the only brew for the brave and true,”

Pippin looked around while dancing then his eyes landed on you, making him stop dancing and singing. You two made eye contact and you gave him a small smile, making him blush slightly. He can never look at you without blushing ever since you slept with him that one time to keep him safe from the cold.

Merry, who was confused from Pippin randomly stopping, turned to see him staring at you. “Pippin!” Merry called out, snapping Pippin back to reality and began singing and dancing again.

“But the only brew for the brave and true

Comes from the Green Dragon!”

You chuckled as both Merry and Pippin clinked their bottles and chugged their drinks, with everyone else cheering. You began a conversation with Eomer, about Rohan before Saruman controlled Theoden, then it turned into how much you missed your home. 

You loved your home, once the Ring is destroyed, and also after Aragorn’s coronation, if it ever happens at least, you would immediately return to be with your family. Thinking about your home either made you happy from all the memories, or sad because of the feeling of homesickness growing. Right now, it made you sad, the more uncommon result of the two.

Eomer noticed you getting upset all of a sudden, so being the good friend he is, he threw an arm around your shoulder to comfort you.

Pippin, who got off the table, was looking for you, but stopped in his tracks when he saw you and Eomer. Seeing the man’s arm around you made Pippin jealous, thinking you two were interested in each other. Then, realization hit him, that you only saw him the same way Boromir saw him: nothing more than a good friend that they adored. Eomer was a human like you, he thought there was no way you would choose to be with a hobbit like him over someone of the same race.

Ever since Gimli (in a way) told everyone you slept with Pippin, they all realized you loved him back as well, but there’s still one person who’s yet to find out you love Pippin. It’s Pippin himself, how surprising. It physically and mentally hurts the group to realize Pippin still doesn’t know for some reason. Gimli suggested to tell Pippin, but Merry said he should find out himself through you.

Pippin walked away to be with Merry instead, he could not control the growing jealousy if he bothered to stay with you. Aragorn had witnessed the entire thing and frowned. Aragorn had enough, he decided to walk over to you to tell you to go after Pippin.

Eomer then walked away to talk to his uncle and sister. You turn to see Aragorn suddenly in front of you, startling you. “Goodness, Aragorn, don’t scare me like that!” You reprimanded, placing a hand on your chest. “I am sorry for scaring you,” he apologized, “but you must go after Pippin, he is upset, though I do not know why.” He told you, lying about not knowing. As soon as he finished, you hurtled off to find Pippin.

Once you found Pippin, he was alone and looked like he had better days. He was rarely upset, but whenever he was, he was truly upset and somewhat difficult to cheer up. “Pip?” You called out, and recognizing your voice, he looked up, surprised to see you. “Is everything okay?” You asked.

He nodded, even though he knew you knew he was lying to you. You sat beside him. “Don’t lie to me Pip,” you started, “I’m not going to let you mope around all day. You know that.” You reminded him that you will always be there to reassure him whenever he feels down, or embarrassed. You remembered when he was embarrassed to admit he couldn’t cross water. 

“You like Eomer, don’t you?” Pippin suddenly blurted out, and you were surprised from his assumption. “No, I don’t. In fact, I just met him, I see no reason to be interested in him, even if he is a nice person.” You told him softly. He sighed in relief, and at that moment, you realized he was jealous, he had seen your own interactions with Eomer earlier. 

“Were you jealous?” You asked, giggling. He froze before nodding. “You don’t have to be jealous, Pip, I don’t love anyone more than you.” You brought your hand and lightly pinched his cheeks. His eyes widened and he began blushing, turning his head away from you and you slightly smirked. “Really?” He asked eagerly.

You let out a laugh. “Yes, I’m surprised it took you this long to realize that.” You pulled him in a hug, and he was so shocked it took him a few seconds for him to process what was happening before returning the hug.

“FINALLY!” A voice boomed out, it belonged to none other than Gimli himself, making you both pull away from each other. By the doorway were Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Gandalf, and Merry, who were all grinning. “We thought the laddie was never going to find out, lassie.” Gimli chuckled. 

You thought up of an idea. You tugged on the collar of Pippin’s shirt, and when he glanced at you, you gave him a wink before pulling him in to connect your lips together. In other words, kissing him. He was startled from the sudden action, but eagerly kissed you back nonetheless.

“Does that have to happen right in front of our own eyes?” Gimli complained. At first, he was ignored, but then Pippin pulled away. “You don’t have to watch, you know. You can just leave.” He pointed out.

Gimli rolled his eyes at you both before departing with the other members, leaving you two alone with some privacy. This time, it was Pippin who pulled you in for another kiss.
