The Nubian,the Colonizer,the Rastafari, and the “mixed” women caught in between.

Yesterday I awoke at 4:00 am to make salaah. After doing so I decided to check twitter. When I did I learned that the grandson of the romanticized British monarchy and the son of late Princess Dianna, Prince Harry, was getting married. Nearly half of the black women in my timeline were genuinely emotionally invested into the wedding as if it was their own. I saw hundreds of supportive tweets for a “Black” woman marrying the European prince. This bothered me, but this is also the reaction I would have expected knowing that abundance of the Nubian people here in America have been successfully white-washed and have now began the process of perpetuating self-hatred so deep that they don’t notice they hate themselves.So, I just stated my general opinion of disapproval of black people supporting this, retweeted others with similar views, and engaged in a few healthy philosophical debates. In my mind the issue of black people celebrating this marriage was something that I knew was too far embedded in us for my opinion to change anyones thought. So, I didn’t plan to make this blog nor even talk about the subject any more. That is until my girlfriend,who is bi-racial, came home from a day at the Chicago’s Art Institute with her best-friend. She does not identify with black people nor our struggles. She like Meghan Merkel, identifies as mixed due to what I sum up to a lack awareness,but I respect her decision to take her image and “being” into her own hands even if it is at the expense of empathy for half of her that is oppressed historically by the other half. She like many mixed women have have taken the power back from society by defining and promoting self-image and individualism. This is something you must applaud, but even this accomplishment is not without its flaws. The major issue with in my standpoint is by defining yourself as individual you remove yourself from a community. In doing so, like my girlfriend the bi-racial woman who identifies as mixed becomes desensitized to the pain of the people she came from.She makes decisions based on what is best for her and her pleasure as oppose to what is best for either of her racial denominations.

With that being said, she decided to make small talk with me about the wedding even though she knows my politics are afrocentric and marxist. She looked through pictures of the wedding with a glimmer in her eye and clearly the royal wedding incited something within her. She was so happy for Harry to be getting married, how beautiful the features of the ceremony was, and how Meghan was making history being a black woman in the Royal Family. I just listened. When it was finally time for me to talk I said, “Baby, she doesn’t Identify as black”. She Argued that Meghan Merkel did identify as black, but after research she simply said “O” and became rather quiet. Her quietness was not from being proven wrong, but from realization- Realization that Meghan Merkel was just like herself. In order to avoid argument that could be harmful to our relationship I avoided going into the complexities of the psychological mind state of the mixed dutchess and how it effects the Afrikan diaspora and just simply said, “ She- wether she identifies as “Black” or not is marrying into a White Supremacist Family who still colonizes the afrikan continent and exploits afrikan people. They won’t even give us (Ethiopian) the artifacts they stole 150 years ago through imperialism back ( https://bit.ly/2GzQ1us). The point is they have way too much of my people’s blood on their hands to care about the wedding and If Meghan Identified as “Black” it would be worse because she is selling us out. That’s like you marrying the grand wizard of the KKK.” As, I have come to expect of my girl she just ignored what I was saying and continued to scroll through the pictures of the wedding in complete flattery. Even as disheartening of an experience as this was. I treated my girl just like the women of twitter. I had the same expectations for them both,so it did not bother me nor did it inspire me to write this blog.

What inspired me and filled me with uncontrollable emotions somewhere in between pity and disdain was what happened a hour or so later. While I was sitting in the family room my girl and her two friends-one whom is white and one whom my girl says identifies as mixed - began to speak of the royal wedding. Her white friend said, “I just don’t understand people. You just can’t be happy for someone?”. I felt my blood pressure rise. What was the knock out for me was when from the corner of my eye I saw my girl point at me (she says they had changed the conversation in sign language but if so the timing was awfully quick and awfully bad timing) in what was supposed to be humor ,but was not funny to me. I got up and removed myself from the environment which had become toxic to me by ONE STATEMENT, One rhetorical question. “You just can’t be happy for someone?”. What was probably so simple to her hit my mind with the depth of the Atlantic ocean. It was complex. It was puzzling. But most of all it was inadvertently racist. These few words totally dismissed the concerns, thoughts, pain, and history of a whole people.

The lack of empathy for the concerns of my people who don’t support the wedding was angering. I can understand why you would be happy or why others would be happy, but you cant understand why some may not? Well allow me to explain to the white women, black women, and mixed women alike who share these sentiments. To do so I must give a brief history lesson;

The relationship between the Afrikan continent specifically Ethiopia and Britain is Infamous. It is not one of free trade, glorious alliance, and equality. It is lopsided like a teeter-toter with a fat white kid on one side and an anorexic black kid on the other. This relationship is one of a virus or plague that sweeps through a land causing complete famine and leaving nothing but air and space. Worst of all it has been glamorized and romanticized as “just” due to what the europeans of latter day called “civilizing” or what they call today “humanitarianism/anthropology” . Since the 1600s when William the Orange took the british throne from James II after their so called “Glorious Revolution”Britain has been invading Afrika as an Imperial power pushing a supremacist agenda and believing that a white God has Ordained them to do so.By 1690 the British were the leading slave traders passing the Dutch. Britain went on to seize the land and resources of Gambia,Sierra Leone,Gold Coast/Togoland,Nigeria, Tanganyika, Angol-Egyptian-Sudan,Zanzibar,South Africa, Kenya, Uganda,Somilia land, and Zimbabwe by brute force.They had come raping our women, cutting off the penises of our men, cutting the tongues of both so that they wouldn’t speak tribal language, taking our drums, and pushing their christianity on us.

In 1867 Emperor Tewodros Of Ethiopia had written Queen Elizabeth in search of alliance, but in her arrogance and totally disregard for Afrikan Royalty and holy lineage she didn’t respond. Not until His Majesty Ras Tafari Aka Haile Selassie took the throne did an Africa Nation ,a sovereign one at that, have an alliance with Britain. Or at least what they thought to be an Alliance. When Benito Mussolini ,prior to the world war, invaded Ethiopia with intention of (in his own words) “Conquering a backwards people” and “Building a new Roman empire” H.I.M. Selassie I went to Britain for military aid against the fascist leader. They gave nothing more than a cold shoulder. They would not dare help an afrikan nation fight a white nation. Oh No! Haile Selassie then went to the french colony of Somoliland in exile. Surely Mussolini and Italy were to conquer Ethiopia. Not until Mussolini and Hitler started invading parts of Africa that Europeans “owned” and european countries themselves did Britain apply pressure to Mussolini which allowed his majesty to come back to Ethiopia and retake his throne.

On September 9, 2017 his Great-grandson tied the knot with a “Bi-racial” Harvard grad named Ariana Austin whom he met while he was attending The Mecca aka Howard. The Royalty’s wedding received minimal media coverage which is a shame because this is real royalty. A royalty indigenous to the land it rules not one who took their land and keeps it by mass murder and oppression. Ariana is a rare type of mixed woman, the best type of mixed woman who let’s the world know she is mixed and appreciates both cultures she comes from ,but identifies as black because she knows what features dominate her DNA, how society classifies her, and most importantly that one half of her ancestry has put the other half through genocide. So when it comes to how to identify herself she takes the side of the oppressed rather than the tyrannical. She didn’t know her husband was royalty until after they had been together for multiple years,so this means she had embraced the black man whole-heartedly already and was willing to commit herself to one long time. She understands that the mixed black woman is nothing more than a light skinned BLACK WOMAN. She does not differentiate herself from her fellow lighter skinned sisters as if her struggle is somehow different. Black women were not so quick to embrace this royalty but have whole heartedly embraced Meghan. But why is that....

Meghan is who they want to be. She has the best of the all the worlds to them. She can be black when it is enjoyable & profitable to be and mixed when she wants to avoid the negatives that comes with being black. She is married to a white man also and not just any white man an insanely rich and influential white man. This is the deepest fantasy of the majority of our sisters whom suffer from subconscious self-hate. The American Society has propagated Anti-Afrikan imagery to the black woman since she has arrived on on the shores in ball and chain. From the Mammie (Above) in the reconstruction era to the White Washing of our historical figures (Sheba,Nefertiri,Etc) to The Barbie doll to the idolization of the Kardashians. This vigorous agenda to make the black woman and girl think their natural features are ugly and Marilyn Monroe and Kim K are beautiful has done its job effectively. If you do not believe me click this link (https://bit.ly/2bxEGAH ) and prepare to be amazed. Do you think this programmed Afrikan hate disappears with age? No, It merely gets masked with excuses like “I do it for myself” or “I just want to look pretty” that contradict the message of Self-love they are intending to get across. Meghan may or not hate herself. Who knows? Mixed Women like here may or may not hate themselves. Who knows? But, these were not the women on social media showing support in the mass for Meghan. It was the BLACK women. The same black woman who have through outcry brought to the forefront the depths of colorism and society’s perception of beauty that holds the WHITE WOMAN above all. The repressed black women is now eager to claim any and everyone as one of her own that has achieved status in the White world. Like Meghan- even if she herself says “Don’t call me black”.

Once again this is as I expected because America is good at what it does, which is oppressing Afrikan being. Sad enough no matter how hard the european attempts to wipe our existence and/or being off the face of the map they have not. There were Black women/men speaking in protest to this wedding! But why? Because of you all! You all have attached Meghan to the black community when we don’t want her nor does she wants to be apart of such. In addition to that she is joining a monarchy who has gained its power off the blood of all things black. This is possibly the most racist family on earth and she has married into it.She has not taken it over nor infiltrated it. She has joined it. Is this who we want our daughters to idolize? To aspire to be? A woman who put the history of her blood aside to get a spot in the bed and a seat at the table with the white man? She stands as a symbol that is recognized by the Black Nationalist Diaspora as a “FUCK YOU” to both us and our ancestors. The Imperial conglomerate that is The Royal Family is still today very much white supremacist. Apart from Prince Harry dressing as a nazi for halloween while one of his friends was a Klansman and the other was in Black Face like an old Mickey Rooney Movie, out of Britain’s Unemployment Rate Blacks make up 45%, Black men are nearly three times more likely to be arrested than white men, and black children three times more likely to be excluded from school. With that being said Britain is also still colonizing and exploiting over 37 sub-saharan Afrikan countries through high interest loans and mining companies.

So i ask you “why should we just be happy?”. If you got raped and later in life you found out your rapist was getting married or better yet getting married to you family member would you be happy? Harry’s Crimson hairs reminds us of the Asante and Xhosa blood spilled in the Afrikan grasslands.The wrinkles on his father’s Face look like the waves of the oceans that our people were thrown in from the Slave ships. Meghan is nothing but a light-skinned Omarosa. To you that wedding symbolized integrationist-based accomplishment ,but to the awoken, the 5%, the hoteps, the pan-afrikans, the vanguard that wedding was just another step further away from the New-Afrikan civilization we’ve dedicated our mind, body, and souls to.

We understand there are black people who the european has made incapable of thinking like us. We understand that europeans will not think like us. We accept this. And we need you to accept that we can not think like you because to do so would be to discard all that is important to us just to applaud two people making a public spectacle of a ceremony that is supposed to be sacred. So instead of asking us “Why we just cant be happy” ask yourself “Why cant I understand why they aren’t happy?”.

Redeeming Jealousy | Erik Thoennes [7/15/19]

THE GLORY OF GOD’S EXCLUSIVE LOVE

ABSTRACT: To many people, the word jealousy is laden with negative connotations. In SCRIPTURE, however, we read that “the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous GOD.”

GOD is rightfully jealous for HIS OWN glory & for the devotion of HIS covenant people. Holy jealousy also characterizes the most godly men & women, from David & Elijah to JESUS & Paul.

Hear the word jealous, & images of an insecure, abusive husband may come to mind. Indeed, sinful human jealousy has been the cause of countless difficulties & heartache in human relationships.

For many today, the word jealousy is always a bad one.

It can be perplexing for Christians, then, when they come across a passage like Exodus 34:14:

“You shall worship no other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous GOD.”

How could a perfect, loving, patient GOD call HIMSELF jealous? Is GOD insecure? Do passages like this simply represent a primitive, OT idea of GOD that is thankfully done away with by the time we get to the NT?

Maybe this is just a human way of talking about GOD that should not be taken seriously, or perhaps jealous is a bad translation of a Hebrew word that could allow for a less troublesome English word?

Despite confusion & aversion to this attribute of GOD, we must not reject or neglect this important aspect of GOD’s character.

The jealousy of GOD is an attribute that pervades the pages of SCRIPTURE & is an essential part of GOD’s covenant love.

To understand why GOD would call HIMSELF jealous, & even intensify this description by turning it into one of HIS divine names, we need to see Exodus 34:14 in its biblical context.

This is also true for the hundreds of other times GOD declares or displays HIS jealousy in the BIBLE.

Jealousy & Envy

While all human words are frail & limited in describing GOD, we need to allow GOD’s verbal revelation to hold the power & meaning HE intends for it to have.

Jealous is actually a very good English word to translate the Hebrew word kana in Exodus 34.

Kana [as well as the Greek equivalent zelos] could be translated as zeal or envy in other places in the BIBLE.

Zeal is a general strong feeling to see something come about.

● Envy is a desire to gain possession of something that does not belong to you, & it is always sinful.

● Jealousy is a strong desire to maintain relational faithfulness that you believe does belong to you.

Jealousy can be sinful if it is unwarranted or expressed in wrong ways, but it can also be an entirely appropriate & righteous emotion.

We don’t usually make any distinction between envy & jealousy, which contributes to the public-relations problem jealousy has.

GOD’s jealousy is HIS righteous & loving demand of exclusive faithfulness from HIS covenant people.

Because GOD rightly loves HIS OWN glory, & graciously loves us, HE demands that we worship & serve HIM above all.

In human history, GOD is most glorified by the undivided devotion of HIS redeemed people, & HIS ultimate jealousy for HIS glory demands this devotion.

If HE does not care when we love idols more than HIM, HE would allow HIMSELF to be dishonored & let us settle for so much less than HE intends us to have from life.

GOD’s jealous love demands the best of us & our relationships.

In Exodus 34, GOD is giving Moses the central demands of relating to HIM as HIS covenant people— a covenant HE compares repeatedly to a marriage [Isaiah 54:5; Jeremiah 2:2–3; Hosea 2:2].

GOD is the husband of HIS people, & we are HIS bride.

This metaphor only intensifies when we get to the NT [Matthew 9:15; Ephesians 5:22–33; Revelation 19:6–9]

To worship any god but the true GOD is spiritual adultery, & any husband who does not care that his wife committed adultery most certainly does not love her.

Right at the heart of the laws of the covenant, GOD wants his people to know that this covenant relationship is permanent & exclusive. He wants them to realize that he is a personal GOD establishing a personal relationship with his people, & that his people should relate to him as he is, not as a more user-friendly god of their own making.

GOD’s Jealousy for His Own Glory

Throughout the BIBLE, GOD is rightfully jealous when he is dishonored, as we can see in the reason GOD gives for the 2nd commandment:

You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the LORD your GOD am a jealous GOD, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the 3rd & the 4th generation of those who hate me. [Exodus 20:3–5]

GOD demands the fidelity of his people because he loves them, but ultimately because he is most glorified when they ascribe to him the honor that belongs to him alone. GOD achieves this goal of making himself known so that people will acknowledge, fear, worship, & obey him as the one & only LORD. Every key stage of salvation history points to this supreme aim. GOD’s covenant love & compassion are no less operational than his jealousy; he is jealous for the devotion of his people because he has the loving heart of a father, but ultimately because he desires to protect the honor of his name.1

GOD has a unique right to seek his own glory, a right none of us should seek to take for ourselves. Only GOD deserves absolute honor, worship, & glory, & he reacts with jealousy & anger when those he has created do not ascribe it to him, or when they desire it for themselves. GOD is righteous & therefore values above all else what is of ultimate value. He loves most what is most worthy of being loved, which is his own character, being, & perfections. Therefore, GOD’s jealousy for his glory does not conflict with his love. Indeed, his perfect justice & love necessitate his own self-exaltation.

We see the same jealousy for GOD’s glory in the ministry of JESUS. The portraits we often get of JESUS tend to be limited to his attributes that we find comforting, like his compassion & mercy. JESUS certainly is compassionate & merciful, & tells his followers to turn the other cheek & love their enemies [Matthew 5:39]. But what do we make of JESUS flipping over tables in the temple [John 2:14–15]? That doesn’t seem to be the JESUS most hear about on Sunday morning! The godly jealousy of JESUS stands behind his righteous indignation as he drove out the money-changers with a whip. His disciples recognized this attitude as the same one that drove David. They recalled his words from Psalm 69 after JESUS cleansed the temple: “His disciples remembered that it was written, ‘zeal [zelos] for your house will consume me’” [John 2:17].

JESUS is often thought of as very different from the GOD of the OT. But he spoke often of hell, & one of the last images we have of JESUS in the BIBLE is so terrifying that unrepentant people are crying out for rocks to fall on them rather than face “the wrath of the LAMB” [Revelation 6:16]. JESUS is indeed gracious & loving, but his grace & love are ultimately driven by GOD’s glory. His jealous love caused him to hate sin & all that dishonors GOD so much that he gave his life to vanquish evil & idolatry once & for all.

Jealous with GOD’s Jealousy

The prevalence of a consumer mentality & human-centeredness in contemporary society easily leads our agendas & takes greater priority than GOD’s glory. A desire to be relevant & attractive can encourage a marketing mentality in the Church that lacks jealousy for GOD’s honor. The heavy influence of secular psychology, with its therapeutic, self-centered approach to ministry, also can detract from GOD’s glory being the supreme objective when Christians gather. These influences can lead the Church to become a pragmatically oriented self-help group rather than a GOD-glorifying community.

On the other hand, when GOD’s people deeply desire that he be glorified so that nothing competes with him for our devotion & worship, they should experience a godly jealousy that mirrors his. The BIBLE includes many examples of godly people who are jealous for GOD’s honor. Whenever religious reform & revival was brought about in Israel, behind it always stood a jealous leader. Whether it was Hezekiah smashing the sacred pillars & cutting down Asherah poles [2 Kings 18:3–4; 19:15–19], Jehoiada tearing down the house & altars of Baal [2 Kings 11:17–18], or Josiah removing the high places [2 Kings 23:19], jealousy on behalf of GOD’s name, & his exclusive right to receive worship & covenant fidelity, was a primary motivating emotion.

Among the many examples & individuals who express godly jealousy, 5 of them stand out as the strongest: Phinehas, David, Elijah, JESUS, & Paul. The key passages that epitomize this attribute for each of them are Numbers 25 [Phinehas], Psalm 69:9 [David], 1 Kings 19:10–14 [Elijah], John 2:13–17 [JESUS], & 2 Corinthians 11:1–4 [Paul]. Each shows his intense desire for the preservation of GOD’s honor in the face of a challenge to that honor.

Consider Phinehas, for example. Phinehas is not a well-known OT figure today, but he should be. He killed an Israelite man & a Midianite woman who were flagrantly rebelling against GOD in the midst of Israel’s repentance for rampant unfaithfulness [Numbers 25:6–9]. GOD responds by saying that Phinehas atoned for the sins of the people, stopped a plague, & saved many lives because he was jealous for GOD’s honor in a way that reflected GOD’s jealousy [Numbers 25:10–13]. He stands as a CHRIST type when it is said that he is given a perpetual priesthood in addition to being a source of atonement [Numbers 25:13].

Different Weapons GOD calls Christians today to feel the jealous anger & indignation that all of the godly leaders in the BIBLE [like Phinehas] experienced. However, in this day of terrorist attacks in the name of GOD’s honor, we will be quick to acknowledge that there are significant distinctions between the OT saint, operating under the law-based theocracy, & the NT Christian, operating under the new covenant & the lordship of CHRIST. In addition to the roles of men like Phinehas, David, & Elijah, their theocratic context was based on OT law-covenant & direct commands of GOD. This limits the bloody expression of their jealousy to their historical situation. Phinehas’s killing of Zimri & Cozbi, David’s killing of Goliath, & Elijah’s destruction of the prophets of Baal were appropriate manifestations of their godly jealousy for their contexts, but they no longer represent GOD’s methods under the new covenant.

In the NT, we still see GOD himself taking drastic, physical action on those who dishonor him [Acts 5:5–10; 12:23]. But when it comes to humans, a shift takes place in the NT where jealousy for GOD’s honor is now channeled through GOSPEL proclamation & is, in some measure, put on hold until GOD unleashes his final judgment [Romans 12:19–21]. JESUS himself frowned upon violent reactions to behaviors that were dishonoring to GOD. He rebuked Peter when he cut off Malchus’s ear [Matthew 26:52]. His response to James & John when they wanted to call down fire to consume the inhospitable Samaritans seems to teach the same idea. He rebuked them & said, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of; for the SON of MAN came not to destroy people’s lives but to save them” [Luke 9:55–56].

Paul provides the same perspective: “Though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds” [2 Corinthians 10:3–4]. And again: “We do not wrestle against flesh & blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the Spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places” [Ephesians 6:12]. The godly Christian hates idolatry no less than Phinehas, yet CHRIST calls him to fight with different weapons. Phinehas’s spear has been replaced by Paul’s epistles. The enemies of GOD deserve the same bold indignation David felt, but righteousness, the GOSPEL of peace, & the sWORD of the SPIRIT have replaced his stones.

Christian leaders may think godly jealousy has little to do with most ministry endeavors, but central to our calling is that we abhor & denounce false teaching, even if we will be considered divisive, intolerant, & uncharitable [Titus 1:9; Romans 12:9]. Any distortion of the truth of GOD’s WORD among GOD’s people amounts to idolatry & spiritual adultery. A faithful pastor will react with godly jealousy, among other virtues [2 Timothy 2:22–26], whenever the clear teaching of SCRIPTURE is violated. In a proper effort to be irenic, gracious, & fair, it nevertheless will be impossible to remain ambivalent when GOD’s WORD is ignored or distorted, especially by those who claim to be his covenant people. GOD, whose name is Jealous, demands that his people remain devoted to the true GOSPEL without compromise. The Church is to be “a pillar & buttress of the truth” [1 Timothy 3:15], & its leaders are to “guard the good deposit entrusted” to us [2 Timothy 1:14], so its theological gatekeepers must remain vigilant in these efforts.

Faithful Bride What a staggering & wonderful truth—that the GOD who is perfectly self-sufficient [Psalm 50:12; Acts 17:24–25] has chosen to enter into an intimate relationship with his people to the point where he feels jealous anger if we are unfaithful to him! And what a blessed joy to know that, by faith in CHRIST, the only perfect covenant-keeper, we can rest assured that one day we will be presented to our LORD pure & conformed to his image [1 John 3:2–3].

Until that day, may the GOD whose name is Jealous be honored through the surprising faithfulness of his bride, even when she is prone to wander.

Fani-Kayode's aide Ndukwe and Omokri Fight Over Nnamdi Kanu

Former Special Adviser (Media) to Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, Mr. Jude Ndukwe, has replied the ex-aide to Former President, Goodluck Jonathan, Pastor Reno Omokri, saying the ex-Jonathan’s aide is a coward and a slave boy who stays abroad and picks on soft spots to attack but then hides “like a sickly fowl just saved from lightning-induced electrocution” when those he thinks are bigger than him direct even derogatory words at him and his principal.

Mr. Ndukwe is replying a statement credited to Omokri wherein the ex-Jonathan’s aide equated the personal opinion of the overall leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to that of Ndigbo in general. Pastor Omokri had said that Kanu’s statement that Former President Jonathan was weak is a statement of ingratitude from Ndigbo.

But Mr. Ndukwe said Omokri who claims he is a pastor “without any anointing” and “who was anonymous, lame and ineffectual in his days as media aide to Goodluck Jonathan” to the extent that he could not prevent the now ruling government which was the opposition then from emasculating the good image of his principal was rather enjoying then even to the dwindling image of his principal.

He also said that Omokri has now begun his duty as an aide, much very late, a situation he describes as “scoring a much needed goal only after the match has ended.”

“We must have heard how the former media aide to erstwhile president Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, the self-called pastor and founder of the Mind of Chrsit Christian Centre, embarked on an ill-advised and futile attempt at lecturing the Igbo nation on diplomacy in reaction to a statement credited to Nnamdi Kanu, the IPOB leader, on president Goodluck Jonathan.

“It is most unfortunate that Omokri would take a statement by Nnamdi Kanu as a statement by the Igbo, and weave same to make it look like the Igbo met somewhere as a nation, concluded on what to say about Jonathan and detailed Kanu to speak on their behalf.

“Having served at that level of government and run a self-found church for this long (most probably without any anointing), one would have thought that Reno would be circumspect in his approach to such matters rather than blow it out of proportion by apportioning it to the Igbo while using that opportunity to run a web of tirades against the Igbo who were as shocked as anyone else by Kanu’s statements.

“Even if anyone should want to say what Kanu said about Jonathan, the general belief in Igboland is that it should not have come from a brother anywhere between the south east and south-south.

“But then, Reno, who was anonymous, lame and ineffectual in his days as media aide to Goodluck Jonathan, was to the extent that he and his colleagues allowed the opposition to literally run the government of Jonathan aground and out of town but for the intervention of people like Femi-Fani-Kayode, which, though, came late, was, nevertheless, so effective that the opposition got distracted from Jonathan and faced FFK squarely, threatening fire and brimstone, and court cases while Jonathan’s rating rose so high within the period FFK joined his campaign.

“If Reno had been just even one per cent as effective as he is now, running after every Tom, Dick and Harry who says anything about Jonathan, when he was media aide, the opposition would have had no space to run their propaganda, half-truths and outright falsehood against the former president.

“The impression Reno creates now is that he was so comfortable enjoying the perks of office and a very sure income that he cared less about his job and its sensitive nature to the image of the person and government of Jonathan.

“Of course, we all know that church business is no longer as lucrative in America as it used to be, that country is fast turning its back on the church, so the pastors there, especially those like Reno, who called themselves to church business as a means of livelihood, can hardly make ends meet.

“The income is low for the Renos of this world, and to shore up whatever little they get from there, they have to try to remain relevant by spewing gibberish against a people in the name of defending Jonathan.

“While it is unacceptable to some of us to describe Jonathan in uncomplimentary remarks, we still remember very well that the governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson, an Ijaw man like Jonathan himself, said that Jonathan’s six years as president was a waste. While we condemn Dickson for such insulting remark, it would be wrong for anyone to claim that it was the Ijaw that spoke through Dickson.

“Those of us who condemned Dickson for such remarks, condemned him as a person, and even though he is the governor of Bayelsa State, we would still not arrogate such malicious remark to the good people of Bayelsa. So, why would Reno ascribe Kanu’s remarks about Jonathan to Ndigbo and not ascribe Dickson’s to the Ijaw?

“What lesson in diplomacy does Reno want the Igbo to learn when the region is peopled by some of the finest diplomats, ladies and gentlemen that can be found anywhere in the world and have risen to the height of their respective callings, towering above many others? From Emeka Anyaoku to Alex Ekwueme, Onyeka Onwenu, Cardinal Arinze, Nwankwo Kanu just to mention a few.

“It is on record that Wole Soyinka once made reference to Jonathan as the inglorious King Nebuchadnezzar of biblical days and described Patience Jonathan as “mere appendage of power…” and other unsavoury things he had said then about the former president and his family. But Reno then operated like a sickly fowl just saved from lightning-induced electrocution: helpless, weak, incompetent and ineffectual while the Soyinkas, Lai Mohammeds etc had a field day against his principal.

“How come Soyinka’s statement was not arrogated to the Yoruba then?

“One can only imagine how the Igbo would have been bashed if it was an Igbo man that described Jonathan as clueless. Of course, the traditional media would have gone gaga and the social media would have gone haywire. The statement would have been “the Igbo lack diplomacy, they lack respect, they lack courtesy” etc. But because it was somebody from the other side of the divide that said it, it could be forgiven, it could be forgotten. Not so, never so for the Igbo man. He must not talk or else he is labeled. Such nonsense!

“Nobody heard Reno arrogating that balderdash against Jonathan in Segun Adeniyi’s book “Against the Run of Play” to the Yoruba, and rightly so too. Segun Adeniyi may be Yoruba but he does not equate to Yoruba. The same goes for Nnamdi Kanu. One can only imagine what the Igbo would have been subjected to if that propaganda and hate-filled book had been written by an Igbo man.

“While Jonathan faced acerbic and scurrilous attacks even from his own people in south-south, the Igbo stood by him solidly. One can only thank God that Rotimi Amaechi is not Igbo, or Timipre Sylva, or Magnus Abe etc, the Renos of this world would have been convulsing with hate and use every opportunity available to spew such in-built hate against Ndigbo in the media.

“It is even more nightmarish to remember that Jonathan lost the 2015 election majorly to image problem created by the opposition and unchallenged by the president’s media aides of which Reno was a prominent member.

“The fact is that the Igbo love Jonathan even till tomorrow no matter what the Renos of this world try to make us feel or think. Apart from high ranking appointments, it was Jonathan who destroyed the plans of our common foes to keep Ndigbo perpetually inaccessible and locked out from the outside world when he declared the Enugu airport an international air route for Nigeria thereby opening the south-East directly to the world. That was not a mean feat given the fact that it was done against the powerful wish of those who have held this country down for so long with their oppressive agenda.

“That singular action by Jonathan has opened the south east to enormous opportunities that can only be appreciated not only now but forever.

“However, the south east is also suffering for their support to Jonathan at the 2015 elections. Our businessmen in the oil & gas industry, auto-industry, cement industry, manufacturing industry etc, are being hounded freely today by security agencies because of their open support for the former president.

“The reversal of some of Jonathan’s policies like that of the automobile industry was directed at the Igbo who were already making giant strides in that sector before the coming of Buhari.

“Today, our busineses suffer for our free democratic choice to support Jonathan. We have no regrets about that at all. We are never known to abandon our own even when the battle is fiercest, it does not matter what gossips and betrayers say about us. Our loyalty is always total and unalloyed.

“The suffering assumed an official dimension and got the official stamp of the presidency when Buhari made the infamous and unfortunate declaration of 97% vs 5%! The good thing is that what the Igbo saw in 2015 while sitting, those who did not see it even while standing on the Iroko tree are now seeing it and wished they had towed the same line with the Igbo during the elections.

“No matter what Nnamdi Kanu says, Jonathan will continue to enjoy the support of Ndigbo even till death. We will not betray him like some of his own people have done. Kanu might have said what he said, but the truth is, given another opportunity to choose between Jonathan and Buhari, even Kanu would still choose Jonathan.

“He is not like Reno who is scoring a much needed goal only after the match has ended. Such a needless, meaningless and useless goal…

“Rather than his diatribe against the Igbo, Reno would do well to come out from hiding, return to Nigeria and join in the noble task of tackling this oppressive and tyrannical government that has brought so much distrust among brothers and sown so much hate among neighbours. It is an act of cowardice to remain in San Francisco and keep picking on soft targets while the real despots in the country get away with severe and several acts of unconstitutionality.

“Even if he decides to remain in distant lands, when next Reno wants to attack, he should choose his subjects carefully. Ndigbo are not Jonathan’s problem. People like Reno who think they can continue to be hypocritical in order to impress Jonathan should learn to deliver their messages as aides and not as slaves!

“Lastly, Jonathan remains Nigeria’s hero of democracy. It is his meekness that has exposed Buhari’s gross incompetence and tyranny. If Jonathan had behaved like strong men behave in Africa, we would not have had the opportunity to know that Buhari is the worst president Nigeria would ever have.

“Meekness is no weakness. It is the strong that let go. Jonathan let go to save the nation from the precipice, and today we have all learnt enormous lessons from that singular act of magnanimity.

“I hope Reno, too, has learnt.”
