General Shino Relationship Headcanons

A/N: GN reader

Bug boy would be such a good boyfriend!

He is very attentive and takes note of little things that you mention.

Remember that one time you said that you don’t really like onions in passing and never brought it up again? He’ll never cook you anything with them and will always check (or gets Kiba to sniff it out if he’s around) if there is onion in a dish when you eat out.

He will go out of his way to please you. Once you casually mentioned that you can’t wait for a new book, only it’s not published in your country yet. Well, guess what waiting on your bed all wrapped up! Shino wouldn’t even leave a note to say it was from him. He would think it was obvious, so if you’re a bit airheaded or forgetful it could lead to some misunderstandings. Clear communication is key!

If it’s raining, he will let you take shelter under his coat (it’s super cute!). If you are shorter than him, he’ll tuck you under his chin and wrap his coat around you in a cocoon. If you are taller than him, he’ll take off his coat and hold it above his head, so you both have cover.

He will always send his bugs to follow you after a date to make sure you get back home ok, if he doesn’t drop you off.

There will also be a few bugs in your periphery throughout the day because he likes to make sure you are ok and he is always worried about you UwU

He is often forgotten (Naruto!!), overlooked or talked over. So, if you ignore him or forget something (even accidently) he can take it personally.

Furthermore, he is not likely to tell you. Rather he thinks it confirms that he is not really important (to you, in his friend group or Konoha) and that he is not worth listening to. Poor boy has low self-esteem. Instead, it is highly possible he will internalise it and then lash out in a petty way (think Kiba with the rotten fish). So, you will need to constantly reassure him and make an effort to include him in general conversations with others.

Strive to listen to him because he is an introvert and tends to fade into the background :( but he is an intelligent person with lots of interesting things to say so he is worth hearing.

Personally, I headcanon him as pansexual and demisexual. He doesn’t really care about sex/gender and is more invested in someone’s personality. It takes him time and emotional investment before he feels sexual attraction to anyone, including his romantic partner.

I think general qualities that attract him to someone are intelligence, kindness and patience.
