I have songs that inspire me to think about the fic in question and the characters, but I usually need minimalism while actually writing. For inspiration: the Prisoner’s Chorus from Beethoven's Fidelio, the first movement of the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in D minor, Peter Gabriel’s cover of The Power of the Heart, Leonard Cohen’s Recitation/A Thousand Kisses Deep, Regina Spektor’s The Call. For actually writing, long playlists/best of's of Arvo Pärt, Max Richter, and Ludovico Einaudi, and this random album of FNAF game music remixes

23. fics you wanted to write but didn’t

putting this under a cut because there are SO DAMN MANY GOOD GOD...........

the biggest would be finishing the Kryptonian superbat au, which would be (mild spoilers?) sort of a sequel to isostatic. It was my NaNo project in 2022 but I had to stop about 25k in for Reasons. I think once it’s done it’ll land in the 40k ish range? There Will Be Footnotes.

of course finishing we shall be free; we shall find peace, but tbh I was pretty damn sure I was never going to finish that in a year. I made about 45k of progress on it during NaNo this year, but, horrifyingly, that only got me about...halfway…through the plot outline. this mfer is a SLOW slow burn

I really wanted to participate more in bottom bruce wayne october with various superbat ideas and ended up with 4 drafts, one of which was done enough to end off to januariat to be beta read, but I just couldn’t figure out how a few paragraphs in that would flow, which is usually a symptom of being unsatisfied with a deeper issue. So the catboy pwp, the chastity belt dkos-ish au, the sex pollen, and the [redacted fic that shall remain undescribed bc I will never have the nerve to publish it except on anon] all remain in tragic stages of unfinishedment

speaking of various pwps, I really wanted to make progress on an immediate post-wf289 fic where the ashes of the Kryll give superbat low-level temporary telepathic empathy and of course they've been pining for each other for years and do it very tenderly and probably weep manly tears, because that's the bronze age worlds finest vibe <3

The claspers whumpfic where clark gets shrapneled and bruce has to do emergency surgery and oh no discovers his claspers remains one scene. I need to look up best practices in octopus physical therapy for this though if it gives you some idea of the intended plot. This would be a prequel/backstory to make this place your home and a home for my xeno clark headcanons in general

I really want to do an omegaverse fic that’s the opposite of the 'oh no, I’ve just gone into heat and I have no plans, you’ll just have to sleep with me' trope. like, bruce's contingency plans have fallen through yeah, but with two weeks advance notice and he's asking clark for a gentleman's favor and there's traditional style courting with cheese plates and possibly slow dancing. also maybe to incorporate xenomegaverse Delta clark and also how much more dangerous Poison Ivy would be in an omegaverse setting

I still have aspirations for a sequel to tacere featuring Kara acclimating to life on earth, but that’s on the back burner until I read more of her comics bc i know that plot's been done over and over and i want to be sure i know what the canon takes are

dragonclark aka the one where kryptonians all avoid magic bc they don't want the spells that shapeshift them into humanoid forms to be broken and they're actually (slightly fifth dimensional) dragons but otherwise tech based. don't worry about it. martha and jonathan found a baby six-limbed dragonlet in that rocket that blinked at them and then shapeshifted and they were like ok we are still gonna adopt

was contemplating a fic set in clark's sophomore year of college where xenoclark/mermaidlori get together but i can't decide whether i want it to be straightforward pwp hooking up or actual melancholy young love plotfic where they both have this impending separation hanging above their heads. i was vaguely thinking of having lori's mermaid tail be partially paralyzed but i'd have to do a hell of a lot more research into ableism related to wheelchairs and find a wheelchair using beta

old timey radio husbands ft. radio bruce getting blackmailed for having sexe pictures. need to buy a book to research the metropolitan american gay scene in the 40s. or perhaps the fic is just the excuse i need to order the book?

every time i watch any given jl episode i want to write a fic where dcauclarkie my problematic rectangular fave gets some god damn therapy. this has been the state of my brain for two years and it may in fact be time to pick up my first ever attempt at dc fic, which was post-stas pre-jls1 fic that attempted to explain why the US government would ever trust dcauclark again by lifting the plot of panic in the sky from the reeves show (ft. amnesiac clark)

speaking of reeves and watching shows every time i watch an episode of batman 66 I want to write an adamwest!bruce/georgereeves!clark because every time I watch 66bruce be a ridiculous dad to dick I’m like ohhhhhhh this man NEEDS to get [redacted] until [redacted] he DESERVES it. he is so husband material. and 50s Superman also could use [redacted redacted redacted]. Unfortunately this is not a plot, but as Jan so patiently reminds me, pwp is a thing, so...

why do people think that remixes being repetitive’s a bad thing? cuz it isn’t. it really isn’t.

OH ALSO SOMETHING I REALIZED (don’t mind me screaming): UH. REMIX 8′S REPETITIVE TOO??? MAYBE NOT AS MUCH AS DS’ OTHER REMIXES (in remix 8 it’s just the individual parts within themselves that’re repetitive, as opposed to the others where they have like one, maybe two, parts that repeat a bunch) BUT. WITH THE LOGIC OF “DS’ REMIXES ARE BAD BECAUSE THEY’RE REPETITIVE” SHOULDN’T REMIX 8 BE BAD TOO???

[btvs comics] blindsided (2,024 words) my first (and definitely not last) giles/anya fic! a shorter version of a plot bunny i hope to chase down in 2020 (ahaha did i say that WHOOPS)

[btvs] uncharted (16,469 words) my jenny calendar day fic! also known as “jenny calendar has a guilt complex: a novella.” no prophecy dream outs jenny to the group -- but she tells them anyway. and blames herself. and breaks up with giles while she’s trying to Fix Things. absolute mess. (thank god there’s a happy ending, right?)

[btvs] on the mending of hearts (9,236 words) that giles/anya fic where giles shows up at anya’s failed wedding and sweeps her off her feet and they have sex in his hotel room! except uhhh there’s a lot more drama and crying and anya really just needs some cuddles, tbh.

[btvs] extracurricular activities (1,003 words) straight up this one BARELY counts as a 2019 fic. i wrote it back in 2016 and forgot about it and found it on my hard drive and wrote an ending to it. it’s tiny, but it’s cute! lots of early-relationship calendiles fluff, as is My Brand.

[btvs] cookie dough and boy talk (a remix) (3,976 words) dawn, but in the ripper au! she’s a precocious little bab and ripper babysits her and gets semi-adopted by joyce. it’s a thing.

[btvs] a history lesson (698 words) a brief ripper au interlude between jenny and dru. dru tries to point out that jenny and ripper are in love. jenny very unconvincingly denies it.

[btvs] faith, hope, and pancakes (3,236 words) ripper au, now with faith! and she gets to hang with college-age jenny! who is dating her idiot boyfriend ripper! the Most Fun of times.

[btvs] compromises (750 words) this....was supposed to be a three-sentence prompt but I Can’t Do That. giles and jenny discuss (read: jenny yells at giles about) giles attempting to attack angel on sight.

[btvs] valentine buzz (3,422 words) i wrote this in may lmao but i just REALLY WANTED to write fluffy braveryverse valentine’s day nonsense!!! lots of cuddles and kisses and softness abound in this fic.

[btvs] days in goodness spent (5,893 words) this fic's point was a little more abstract and a little less blunt than most of the rest of these, but i wanted to explore the concept of giles slowly going from idealizing jenny to genuinely loving her. i hope i did it justice.

[btvs] to have and to hold (7,861 words) giles and jenny get married in the braveryverse. that’s really all there is. also i posted this on my birthday (may 23rd) AND it is the 23rd fic on this list!!!! WILD!!!!!)

[btvs] saw her in the streetlight, making all the world bright (5,738 words) took me like a year and a half to write the first fic in the ripper au, lmao. in which jenny is a snarky eighteen-year-old, ripper is a snarky college dropout in a band, and neither of them are at ALL good at communicating. especially not ripper.

[btvs] perfect (1,465 words) ripper au: it’s revealed that jenny hasn’t had sex before. ripper handles this with his characteristic maturity and grace (just kidding lmao he FREAKS. but it’s bc he loves her.)

[btvs] respite (1,106 words) i wrote this after issue 5 of the reboot dropped bc i was very emotional about canon power couple giles and jenny. in retrospect, i gave giles’s emotional maturity WAY too much credit--esp. given what’s going on now--but it was still fun as heck to write.

[btvs] in bloom (8,452 words) this was SUPPOSED to be the end of the jenny-anya-tara trilogy. it was not. (more on that later.) this was also supposed to be a fic where giles and jenny get together. jenny and anya got together. writing things is wild sometimes.

[btvs] i still want to be your girl (35,165 words) straight up i am so proud of this fic! s7 au: jenny was chased out of town by angelus. giles does not know this. jenny has been working with angel in la, but left with faith to try and help defeat the first. giles is not the guy she remembers. (but jenny’s not exactly the lady giles remembers, either. so maybe things might work out.)

[btvs/leverage crossover] what’s in a name (4,421 words) sophie’s & jenny’s relationship to their names & identities always so totally fascinated me! this fic was my way of exploring that. (also i got to give giles and jenny a toddler. that was fun too.)

[btvs comics] live a little (6,700 words) i had so much fun coming up with a backstory for giles and jenny in the comics that i am kinda tempted to eventually try and do it again. this one was fun to write, tho.

[btvs] kind of like hydrogen peroxide (7,501 words) THIS was FUN. ripper au, but it explores both jenny’s longing for High School Normalcy AND ripper’s fucked-up relationship to magic. also senior prom is a thing.

[btvs] mending fences (6,093 words) sequel to the aforementioned epistolary fic! lots of first-person self-loathing from giles, but also a LOT of love for jenny and his kids. also the man really truly needs to stop repressing.

[btvs] her father’s daughter (1,982 words) 2020 will bring us another chapter of this fic i swear to GOD. literally there’s only one chapter up so i cannot even TALK about my plans for it but uhhh if you want giles and jenny and their three daughters pls feel free to go to that prologue and check it out.

[btvs] a thousand different ways we fell apart (4,888 words) the au fic to encompass all au fics! inspired by the comic reboot and me being like. christ. do they go through this ridiculous shit in EVERY universe? ....and then i wrote a fic where jenny was a space traveler looking through multiple universe to try and fix her marriage with giles. extra fun.

[btvs] no such roses (4,814 words) this one turned out a TINY bit rushed, but the concept of jenny bringing giles back from the dead is always something that i love exploring. i might come back and rewrite this, someday.

[btvs comics] no perfect choice (4,801 words) OOF. wrote this one after issue 8 dropped. a lot softer and more tender than what actually happened, tbh. maybe i will reread it again to make myself feel better about comic calendiles and their brutal split.

[btvs] family (3,545 words) wrote this one p early in the year and came up with an ending to it much later! ripper au: the story of how xander came to live with giles and leave his parents. angst-with-a-happy-ending abounds.

[btvs] a california january (2,206 words) jenny and giles attend a funeral together. that’s pretty much it. this is defs one of the best things i wrote this year, tho.

[btvs] how i survived my summer vacation (volume two) (25,027 words) swear to god this is gonna be the next thing i update. the braveryverse NEEDS to continue. it’s got married calendiles, for god’s sake.

[btvs] clear and impartial judgment (3,977 words) that fic i wrote when i got mad at a lack of resolution wrt helpless. like!!! giles drugged buffy!!! do we not get to talk about the psychological ramifications that would have on her???? (well. canon doesn’t. but i do.)

[btvs] sunshine ladies (10,188 words) THIS FIC WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN and i say that with incandescent love in my heart. i intended for the ‘verse to be giles/jenny, and then i intended it to be jenny/anya, and then i was like....jenny has two goddamn hands, and there’s foreshadowing here for endgame giles/jenny, and i wanna write some giles/anya. let’s fuckin go. (DEFINITELY writing another installment in 2020 about this iconic ot3 of mine.)

[btvs] spirit-touched (4,769 words) the first smut i write and it’s calendiles ghost sex. i really think this is on brand for me, esp. considering that swath of asks in 2016ish where everyone wanted to know if ghosts could jack off. incredible.

[btvs] dear friend (28,865 words) this fic had such a rushed ending :( it’s a cute premise (you’ve got mail giles/jenny au!!!!!), but i lost interest halfway through, and as a writer i can rlly see that when i read it. another thing i might like to go back and rewrite at some point, tbh!

[btvs] familiar (2,034 words) AUGH i am SO proud of this fic. SO SO PROUD. it’s a concept i really can’t explain and the little twist at the end is something i really really like, so...just read it.

[miss fisher’s murder mysteries] unbearable (5,670 words) i need to write more mfmm in 2020 but the amount of good fic out there is deeply intimidating/delightful. this one was my little “what if it was phryne who thought jack was dead” and tbqh i had a lot of fun with it? bc pining phryne (who makes brief but extremely poignant appearances throughout the series) is an awkwardly, heart-meltingly sincere lady.

[ace attorney] man’s duty to society (544 words) wrote this as my first foray into aa fic while getting emo about miles edgeworth. would absolutely still die for that man.

[ace attorney] fancy running into you (5,887 words) lots of schmoopy narumitsu fluff! gregory edgeworth is alive! miles is trauma-free! phoenix is an artist! just!!! goodness!!!!!!!

[ace attorney] big sister (2,741 words) set in the same gregory-edgeworth-is-alive ‘verse: babey franziska comes to live with miles and his dad. she is a little impossible but miles kinda does love her.

[ace attorney] prince charming edgeworth and his incredible tux (8,042 words) this fic came from me being like “i want to write phoenix swooning over miles in a tuxedo and being like HE LOOKS LIKE A DISNEY PRINCE” and spiraled into something much longer!

[ace attorney] fate, choice, and everything in between (4,384 words) SOULMATE AU. nothing i love more than deconstructing soulmate aus. but like. in a romantic way. also phoenix and miles ARE soulmates and that is JUST facts.

Favorite Fic: I WROTE SO MUCH STUFF THO LIKE !?!??! how can one expect me to distill it to just one fic? i’ll make it my top threeL

a california january (I AM SO PROUD OF THIS FIC. it is soft and angsty and silly and devastating and tender. all the calendiles feels.)

i still want to be your girl (same mood!!! i’ve wanted to write this fic for literal years, and it’s one of those rare occasions where the picture in my head actually turned out BETTER when written out!)

sunshine ladies (this is like my giles/jenny/anya ship manifesto and it still makes me happy to think about them all co-running the magic box together and smooching a lot.)

Hardest Fic: OOF uh i went through a rocky period of writing when transitioning into college? no such roses and dear friend were hit the hardest by my insecurity & my desire to Finish Things rather than actually spend time on the craft. but i’m much more settled in now and my writing is DEFINITELY in an upward swing (as my newest fic -- as day follows night -- attests to quite nicely, imo)

Do You Plan to Take Prompts in 2020? always always yes! (i’m bad at following through with them, but am ALWAYS accepting them.)

What was the best thing about 2019? there were almost too many good things to COUNT, but i think all of them were made possible by me working extremely hard to get myself the FUCK out of my abusive parents’ house and into my first choice college!! i’m thriving, y’all.

What was the worst thing about 2019? realizing that both of my parents are fundamentally terrible people. that part kinda sucked.

Any last thoughts for 2019? i finally understand what it’s like to fall asleep feeling safe, and to notice the way the leaves change color, and to get excited about self-indulgent things like food and cuddly stuffed animals and my own fic and art. 2019 brought a lot of happiness into my life, and oh yeah also i’m in love! lots of cool stuff going on.

MORE ART JUST IN GENERAL. i love drawing, but there’s not a lot of free time for artsy celia when they prioritize writing so often!

write one of the many incredible longfic ideas that’s floating around in my head. it’s honestly probably only like two or three big ones, but at least DECIDE which one i’m gonna focus my energy on.

WIP Update - 29 August

Tony Stark Bingo 2018 Challenge: Posted my thirteenth fill late last week - The Thorn and the Rose (1892 words) for A1 - Omniscient Narrator. This is another fantasy/medieval AU that is a crossover with the Gentlemen Bastards novel series by Scott Lynch. Bucky and Steve are teenaged streetrat thieves, while Antonio is the Thiefmaker's pet spy (and more than he seems). It's supposed to be a multichapter fic, and I've got plans for the next installment, but am not sure how far I'll take it at the moment. This also gave me my second bingo for Row 1.

I got inspired to work on a couple more squares, including this week's planned fill: K3 - Arc Reactor Angst. It's a short piece, sitting at only 751 words at the moment; it meets the minimum word count requirement, but I'd like to get it closer to 1k. Part of The Shield Saga , it's a semi-postscript for To Shield from the Storm and a bridge to the eventual sequel (see below).

I also started a wingfic piece set more or less in MCU canon for K4 - Flight (816 words) and a fill for my K2 - Coffee Shop square (442 words) which is a prequel/Tony POV remix of Wait and See (if it’s the best you ever had) . These are likely to be somewhere in the 3-5k range, based on what I want to do with them. I'm still sitting at just over 200 words on the T3 - Natasha Romanov fill and thanks to marsmaywander over on the WinterIron Discord, I have an idea for S4 - Steampunk AU, which I'd been struggling with. That leaves me with three additional squares I have ideas for and four squares I have no idea what to do with at the moment.

WinterIron Bingo Adventure 2018: I posted The Thorn and the Rose (1892 words) last week as a fill for my I1 “Unmixy Things: Weird Crossovers” prompt. It also continues the series I started with Prologue – The Weapon Maker’s Son. There's more I'd like to do with this series - but we'll see if other shiny ideas distract me.

The following WIPs have gotten pushed to the back of the desk, but are still on the list. HINT: if any of these pique your fancy, let me know and maybe they'll move up the list a bit....

The Rumlow POV remix of By Their Bootstraps (my de-aged Avengers fic) is still a semi-active project, tho I need to figure out how much detail I want to go into to get it caught up to cover the same events. It is still sitting at 4980 words and I may try to squeeze it into the Tony Stark bingo as well.

The Shield Split Asunder (sequel for To Shield from the Storm ) I’m not sure when this will first see the light at the moment, TBH. The fic will be Steve POV and stick as close to canon as I can make it. I have the first two scenes roughly sketched out, with the aforementioned interlude going up this week; perhaps that will give me a good nudge.

Carry On, Wayward Sons: Holding on the draft of Chapter 3 until I get some more work done. The intent is still to match it up with the other StarkQuill/StarkLord piece I threw together awhile ago. As I mentioned above, I'm trying to wrap this up so I can write a sequel for the Tony Stark Bingo.

The Subtle Briar – Still nothing new - other projects are demanding my attention.

I did a quick skim thru the @imaginetonyandbucky prompts a while ago - there were a couple that mildly piqued my interest - I ought to go back and see if any of them really grab me and/or can be matched up with a WinterIron Bingo Adventure prompt.

Top 5 changes you’d make for TLJ

let it be known that i tried FOR DAYS to make this into a coherent list rather than a disjointed series of essays (ironic given the movie i’m talking about) but you know what!! i’m gonna play this by ear and release responses by parts.

i feel like it’s maybe important for me to preface this for the general audience with the fact that i did, overall, love The Last Jedi. the reasons why have to do mostly with who i am as a person, and while i’d be happy to expound on the general differences between what i find interesting vs. what is good vs. what is socially responsible, this isn’t really the place for it. there is a LOT to criticize in the movie tho, so let’s get started with

ONE: From my point of view, the Jedi are evil!!!

this one is about Rian Johnson.

or more specifically, it’s about Rian Johnson vs. JJ Abrams as storytellers. this video touches on some of what i’m going to be talking about, but to be perfectly honest i find its explanation of ~potential vs. kinetic energy in filmmaking~ unsatisfying and unnecessarily pretentious. i don’t think the issue has to do with how Rian and JJ tell their stories at all, but what kinds of stories they’re interested in telling in the first place.

that video was right when it came to JJ–his primary focus as a writer is on the mystery box. more broadly, JJ is interested in actualizing the genre concept so that a story could revolve around it. Lost was ABOUT its own genre: being trapped on a mysterious, magical island that only gets more mysterious and magical propels the conflict. Alias was ABOUT spies in much the same way–the show was at its best when it was about aliases. this is not to say that his characters are bland or even secondary to the plot, but you do get the sense that they were selected because of how they’d react to the central situation–Jack is a man of science, Locke is a man of faith, they react to the mysteries of the island in divergent ways, so on and so forth.

this all sounds dumb and basic–like of course a genre guy would use genre to service the story–but what sets JJ apart is that he’s really good at reviving the potential of specific concepts and tropes and reminding us why we liked them in the first place. the success of his stories tend to rely on some metafictional baggage, on justifying why something was able to capture the zeitgeist. this is what makes him an appealing rebooter. the reason TFA was so great was the Star-Wars-ness of it all; not just invoking iconography like Masked Evil Dude with a Secret and the Death Star, but using that stuff to drive the plot in a way that we hadn’t seen before and reinforcing that there’s still untapped potential in the old story structures. the characters he introduced were, similarly, people who would act and react in interesting ways to a Star War: Poe embedded deep in the Resistance, Finn unwillingly falling into rebellion, Rey finding her place in a mystical destiny, etc etc. it’s all a remix, but it was a damn good one, and it reminded people why they loved Star Wars in the first place.

the problem with bringing in Rian Johnson as the followup act to JJ Abrams is that Rian Johnson doesn’t really give a shit about any of that.

it’s not that he’s incapable of letting ideas and plot issues simmer, it’s that i think Rian Johnson is at his core an ideas guy–his movies tend to be about archetypes and ideologies coming into conflict, about older ideas being torn open and examined and (only sometimes) rebuilt. he’s certainly capable of writing effective characters and dialogue, but on the whole that stuff is in service to exploring some kind of philosophical issue or idea. characters Stand for something in Rian Johnson movies–not in the sense that they have certain convictions that they hold tightly to, but in that they are often embodied by those convictions. his approach to genre works in much the same way; they’re helpful tools to explore certain ideas, but they don’t usually form the core of the narrative itself.

this makes him GREAT for Star Wars in one way but horrible for TLJ in a different way. on the one hand, this ‘verse has been replete with the kind of binaries that Rian loves to poke at: Light and Dark, order and rebellion, etc. on the other hand, his kind of hyper-scrutiny on Societal Norms or Western Thought or whatever else works best in a very controlled environment. Looper, for example, worked great in its discussion of selfishness/selflessness, fate/free will because the movie was a tiny beaker where two of the three leads literally played different iterations of the same character. TLJ worked substantially LESS well because–well, it’s a fucking sequel in a sequel trilogy that relies on affirming some of the meta-baggage the franchise has been carrying around for literal decades.

this is why the movie not only glossed over and shelved a lot of pre-existing questions and issues that we wanted to see more of, but also gave us a lot of padding that felt kind of unnecessary. Rian Johnson is fundamentally uninterested in franchise-related questions like what the fuck happened with Snoke and Ben or where the fuck are the Knights of Ren or where the fuck does Phasma disappear to for 4/5ths of every film; his main interest in making this movie were a series of philosophical issues dealing with historiography, personal/political stakes, and the methodology of war. to do that he had to introduce new conflicts, create new characters to an already bloated cast so they can act as ideological foils to our heroes, and (in one case) make kind of baffling assumptions about how pre-existing characters had developed offscreen. this is not to say that the ideas themselves were boring and the movie was wholly bad, but a lot of interesting ideas were very shoddily packaged as we alternated between feeling like really important stuff just kind of zipped by and being bored by all the NEW pipe that Rian wanted to lay so he could get to whatever ideological showdown he wanted to have.

so, yeah: i think Rian Johnson could do a lot of cool things in this franchise and am glad he’s doing the new trilogy where he can navel-gaze to his heart’s content, but i don’t think he was a very consistent following act for JJ Abrams (or honestly, for any part of the Star Wars sequel reunion tour). nix him, and if you can’t bring back JJ or Lawrence Kasdan, then at least bring in a seasoned franchise guy who’s willing to work with more of the pre-existing material.

(and tiny Pride. It’s fun how he was like, almost the least sympathetic homunculus (I mean, most people can relate to just wanting to go back to sleep ok dad/mom, so even Sloth…lol), and yet he’s the only one who finds a ‘new life’.)

(only HOHENHEIM’S DEAD, my FMA twin is gone ;-; at least that moment with Trisha was beautiful)

I thought I’d cry with FMA’s ending because I did almost cry during the Ishvalan Civil War flashbacks, but…once again, my eyes were dry XD maybe because TG and AoT made me appreciate FMA’s happy ending more?

TYSM for recommending such a great series, Queen Luna <33333 I’m getting kinda emotional XD

Because I actually made that as a way to vent..splattering red blood paint all over the paper did help XD (drawing doesn’t always help, though. Oh, that sounds cool! I don’t listen to much Ed Sheeran but liked his song for the Hobbit ('I see Fire’? I think that’s what it’s called?) and because Shape of You just keeps playing in the manhwa cafe I go to to read manga, that song kinda got stuck in my head and I can’t stop listening to it XD I don’t listen to remixes a lot for no particular reason but some of them are really cool :)

I’m currently obsessed with Hurricane, Castle, Ghost and 100 Letters by Halsey, along with a bunch of Lana Del Rey songs (going to listen to her new album as soon as I can!), Melodrama (Lorde’s new album), and Young and Menace and Champions by Fall Out Boy…also songs from Steven Universe and Adventure Time, like Love Like You and Everything Stays. And all of FMA’s openings because WOW.

TG and AoT scar people for life. Kill of their emotions, so they’re unable to cry at sad things, bc nothing is sad in comparison to those two. Except for a few rare exceptions. Oh, did I ever tell you that I always, without a fail, cry when watching a specific Love Live episode? It’s about a character that I relate to a bit too much, and since it’s a sorta bittersweet character arc, I always end up crying. The music also gets to me. I could write in detail exactly what and why XD

It’s called ‘Court of Thorns and Roses’. I mean, the writing style is more or less ok, and the premise is interesting at first glance, but then everything gets ruined by the author for not being able to create a flawed MC, cause they have to be perfect! I’ve read another one of the author’s books before, but dropped it halfway, again because on an annoying MC. The only reason why I finished this one is bc it was the only reading material available XD It’s also supposed to be a spin on Beauty and the Beast, but with fairies, but it was so badly done that I genuinely didn’t realize that until I read it somewhere on the internet. It’s also one of the rare series where I intentionally don’t read the sequels. The original book was that bad I’m getting way too emotional over the book XD

I’m afraid explosions are his one true love. Maybe you could get him to paint explosions instead of making them, though. Like, ‘Ok, Kimblee, here’s paper, some paint, go wild. Just don’t set the room on fire, please.’ He’d show his soft side around you only. If there was anyone else in the room, he’d be his usual self, but with you, in private, he’d probably be a tiny bit sweet. Sometimes. Troll!Evans and Kimblee would be the actual definition of ‘Prepare for trouble, make it double’. FMA has some of the best openings and closings I’ve ever heard. My favorite is probably the first one, because it’s just so so amazing *^*

I live for the fantasy fight soundtracks. A few examples are from the anime Fate/Zero or Fate/Unlimited Blade Works, like This Day and Never Again, Unlimited Blade Works and You Are My King. Those would make a snail race look epic.

WIP Update - 5 September

Tony Stark Bingo 2018 Challenge:

Posted my fourteenth fill late last week - Shield Saga Interlude (851 words) for K3 - Arc Reactor Angst. As you might guess from the title, it's part of my Shield Saga series - set in an a/b/o 'verse with alpha!Steve and omega!Tony. it's a semi-postscript for To Shield from the Storm and a bridge to the eventual sequel (see below). A nightmare throws Tony into a whirlwind of self-doubt, and Steve does his best to soothe and reassure. Tony questions their physical relationship, as well as the likelihood of keeping it secret for much longer. And the revelation of his omega status means Tony has demands on his time that will take him away from his alpha.

I've made some good progress on my K2 - Coffee Shop fill, which is currently sitting at 1245 words. It's a prequel/Tony POV remix of Wait and See (if it’s the best you ever had) and will probably end up as a 2-3 chapter fic and around 5k.

I also worked some more on a wingfic piece for K4 - Flight (1184 words). I'm still sitting at just over 200 words on T3 (Natasha Romanov) and thanks to marsmaywander over on the WinterIron Discord, I have an idea for S4 - Steampunk AU, which I'd been struggling with. That leaves me with three squares I have ideas for and four squares I have no idea what to do with at the moment.

The Tony Stark Bingo collection is up to 156 works -- go check the collection out for some amazing fics and arts !!! @tisfan did an awesome job of putting this project together and deserves tons of kudos!

WinterIron Bingo Adventure 2018: I've completed two fills: I1 - Unmixy Things: Weird Crossovers and B3 - Imprisonment, but don't have anything in particular in the works for this. That said, I may be able to do a double-fill on the wingfic I mentioned above.

The following WIPs have gotten pushed to the back of the desk, but are still on the list. HINT: if any of these pique your fancy, let me know and maybe they’ll move up the list a bit….

WIP Update - 19 September

Tony Stark Bingo 2018 Challenge: My planned fill for this week (#17) will be for my K2 - Coffee Shop square. It's currently sitting at 3150 words, with two chapters written and the third in progress. It's a prequel/Tony POV remix of Wait and See (if it’s the best you ever had) featuring Tony/Ton-E making friends with Pepper and Nat and will probably end up as a 3-5 chapter fic and around 5-7k. Since it also deals with Ton-E coming to grips with their genderfluidity, I have a couple of nb/gf betas giving it a look-see to make sure I'm doing things right. Hoping to post it Friday or Saturday.

I've been listening to an audiobook version of the original Frankenstein novel and am also working in a fic inspired by that with monster!Bucky and kid!Tony - it's a fill for T2 - questionable decision-making process and is up to 1361 words and will probably be another 5-7k piece. I'm still sitting at just over 200 words on T3 (Natasha Romanov) and thanks to marsmaywander over on the WinterIron Discord, I have an idea for S4 - Steampunk AU, which I'd been struggling with. I've also got an inkling of an idea for the 'nerds' square fill featuring MIT-era Tony & Rhodey (or possibly Tony/Rhodey), which leaves me with two squares I have no idea what to do with at the moment: (Tony/Bruce, and 'all's well that ends well'. If anyone wants to throw plot bunnies my way, go for it.

I also finally posted Chapter Three of Carry On, Wayward Sons!! Seeing as the last update had been in January (eek) I figured it was time to let readers know the fic wasn't completely abandoned. The intent is still to match it up with the other StarkQuill/StarkLord piece I threw together awhile ago, possibly as part of a sequel for a Tony Stark Bingo Fill - I have a comic square with Peter saying to Tony "No reason this can't be fun".

WinterIron Bingo Adventure 2018: I've completed two fills: I1 - Unmixy Things: Weird Crossovers and B3 - Imprisonment, but don't have anything in particular in the works for this - tho a future chapter of the wingfic and/or the Frankenstein-inspired fic will probably be double fills for TSB and this bingo.

The Shield Split Asunder (sequel for To Shield from the Storm ) I’m not sure when this will first see the light at the moment, TBH. The Rumlow POV remix of By Their Bootstraps (my de-aged Avengers fic) is still sitting at 4980 words and I don't know at the moment if it will see the light of day; tho I hate to think of the time I spent on it going to waste.

The Subtle Briar – Still nothing new - other projects are demanding my attention. It's supposed to be an alternate origin story for Agent Peggy Carter - and there's a few scenes I really want to write set in Camp Lehigh, but time and motivation are in short supply.
