Hey! i’m really into the dbch story and i was wondering if doc and xisuma ever tell bdubs the specifics of why etho lost his memories, cause if they do that is prime self blaming angst for bdubs

I’m inclined to believe they don’t. Actually (and maybe I should do a small comic for this so more people see it) I imagine, once a month or a few pass and they finally return etho to bdubs as reset, I imagine they are VERY serious about warning bdubs not to try to force Etho to re-deviate— they don’t go into specifics, but they probably tell bdubs that whatever happened had to do with something that was emotionally overwhelming, and that forcing him to redeviate/not letting it happen naturally could trigger the same error. They have no idea what could happen so bdubs needs to be very careful and let Etho find himself again on his own.

Whether or not bdubs gets impatient or can only go so long before he doubts it would be that bad if he tried pushing Etho in the right direction is another story.

But yeah. I don’t think Xisuma or Doc really… tell anyone that this happened. Etho’s error seemed like a very specific one-off scenario, so it’s not something the other hermits should be trying to avoid or be careful about happening to their own android friends, and the only thing telling people would do is make them worried about the situation. All they need to know is that etho was broken and that they need to be careful with him. I don’t agree with their decision to keep what happened to themselves but I understand it I think. God I am so sick of people who only watched Clone Wars and skimmed Rebels watching Ahsoka and asking why Sabine is so obsessed with Ezra and acting like her turning back was some sort of character development, when one of the core parts of her character is giant abandonment issues.

Sabine has watched her family turn their backs on her, Ketsu leave her to die, the other members of the Ghost crew falling away for one reason or another, losing her family, and then Ahsoka ditching her for being sad about it. She has spent over half her life watching the people she loves leave her behind, and she would never do that to someone else. Let alone to Ezra, who she bonded with over also having abandonment issues and who was only able to leave in the first place because he counted on her to bring him back.

It's not about romantic feelings or priorities. It's about the fact that all she's ever wanted was someone to come back for her, and when she's on the other end of that decision, there's no scenario where she fails them the way everyone else failed her.

I think one of the biggest differences between bangel and spuffy is that angel isn’t a partner to buffy. he’s not even someone she knows that well. he’s not someone she’s ever familiar with, and he’s not someone she can ever fully rely on.

yeah their romance was big and grand and all the things a tragic fairytale romance is. but at the end of the day their relationship is so incredibly surface level. all there is is the idea of love, and not even the real thing.

I think Alastor's bayou acts a lot like Rose's room from Steven Universe. In that it can simulate just about anything Alastor wants and he sometimes uses it to re-live specific memories.

He realized early on in his discovery of this power that it was all illusory. He has only ever recreated his mother's voice when he remembers her, because he can't picture her face the same way after a century in Hell and he doesn't want to risk reinforcing an incorrect idea of her.

When he's re-living his memories of her she's always "just out of sight" or "in another room" to justify it to himself.
