things that are spot on about beelzebub in good omens as someone who worships the demon they're based on

(for complete clarity, i'm going to refer to the entity beelzebub with he/him bc that's how he presents to me as, and refer to the character beelzebub as they/them)

(and if you're going to be mean about demonolatry or my beliefs/experiences then go away)

first of all, demons don't really have consistent genders. beelzebub (entity) presents pretty consistently masculine throughout history, but he can take feminine and androgynous forms and has been recorded to do so. the non binary rep and interpretation is my favourite thing.

some stories go that after jesus descended into hell and subsequently escaped, satan was dethroned as the ruler of hell (this doesn't mean that his power was taken away - just that he doesn't personally manage the demons anymore). the title was then passed onto beelzebub who is referred to consistently as a high ranking demon, specifically as a duke or a prince, among others. i really love how beelzebub is the one running things in hell as grand duke. ppl love to give satan all the attention, and it's not like i'm slandering him, but it's tiring to see big bad cookie cutter satan in EVERY show. beelzebub (GO) is a breath of fresh air.

absolutely commands attention when you're in their space. needs you to know that they are the Lord of the Flies, Supreme Chief of the Empire of Hell, Archdemon of Gluttony, and you cannot make any mistake about it.

the buzzing noises when they talk - absolutely canon.

they both appear in a swarm of flies when you least expect bc they have something to say to u that cannot wait. this is how beelzebub first made his presence known to me. just sent me a swarm of flies. twice. can't say he's ever manifested his form into the swarm but hey.

also if he needs my attention, he sends a single fly to buzz in my room until i find out what he wants. sometimes i forget and try to kill the fly. i never can. the fly harassing gabriel who is unable to kill it is so real in this way.

in the final episode when beelzebub holds the fly on their finger... that has happened to me. a while before GO2 came out, he sent me a fly that did exactly that to me, and then i saw the promo photo of beelzebub (GO) holding the fly and i lost my mind.

afaik beelzebub (entity) and gabriel (entity) are not interested in each other but i could be wrong????? it's definitely not rare for demons and angels to interact.

the packet of crisps... they're a demon associated with gluttony and find it amusing when gabriel says they 'don't have to consume.' also, both appreciate booze.

both enjoy music and give ominous warnings like 'every day, something is getting closer.' like ok.

overall, i like how they were watered down from the first season. yes, they're a demon, but demons are not inherently malevolent. ppl who worship them do not think that they're brimming with evil. they're just entities that have been literally demonised over the years. it was nice to see a morally grey portrayal of beelzebub in season 2 and to have them gain agency and choose something that matters more to them than hell.

The initial 'unlocks' of the actual dailies themselves are relatively involved though. Not necessarily a bad thing, but ough. A bit much for me to chew off like I did, at least.

Shrine of Silence does not count for that, btw. Didn't expect it to based on how they pitched it as separate from the crit path, but I really wanted to run it anyway. It was fun! I have NO fucking clue what happened in the last half of the boss fight but I only died once the whole run because I missed one of the many holes in the floor and went right through it lmaooooo. So no actual mech deaths. On story mode ofc bc it is me and my beau against this silly silly little world. MVP Theron + Droid fighting possessed bitches that got yeeted under the floor for me while Tyr just looks hot

Hadrian is ready to look for love again after having his heart broken on Ada's Bachelorette. The 33 year old stylist admits that the Bachelorette was not his finest moment, and has come to accept that he wasn’t being true to himself. Our newest bachelor is bringing a twist to the traditional challenge - Hadrian is bi with a preference for masc partners. So there may be fewer glamorous dresses this season, but Hadrian assures us there will be plenty of romance. YA preferred (for the purpose of this BC that means under 40), Adult submissions will be considered and entered at Hadrian’s discretion

Gay/Bi/Pan/Queer men, nonbinary individuals, and trans masc sims accepted. 

Please fill free to give them careers and skills (and cheat them a reasonable amount - don’t max everything). No romantic or unfairly traits please.

Your sim will need an entry introduction and a backstory/profile that gives me more information to go off of. Please feel free to dm me more information if you want there to be surprises or if you just think of something. Sims eliminated from other bcs will be allowed as long as their bio addresses what happened.

This BC is a bit of storytelling and gameplay so decisions will not be made purely from results. Eliminated sims may be used as side characters in potential post bc story (but if you want them back feel free to let me know). Also please let me know on the form if your sim is okay with getting pregnant or getting others pregnant (or neither or both) since mpreg is an option in my saves. I will do my best to properly interpret your sim’s personality, but this is going to be my best guess based on what you give me.

Please provide at least 1 outfit for each category preferably 2-3 for everyday and formal

Maxis Match CC allowed within limits (hair below 7mbs, skin details, tattoos welcome) CC can if be used for the first everyday outfit, but not the rest unless it is repeated (ex. Cc glasses or jewelry from the first outfit can be added to the other outfits since it’s not adding additional files). Here's Shay's thoughts on Lightfall, even though I know people won't care cause I'm in the minority of people that actually liked it.

Was I expecting something different than what happened in Lightfall? Yeah. Did I enjoy it? Oh fuck yes (yes even when I got stuck at some parts and complained about it).

Maybe a slight bit more context on the Veil was needed, bc I aknowledge it wasn't perfect, but honestly I don't mind because that leaves it up for theorizing and different interpretations until we know more. Accept the mystery! Lightfall, to me, feels like a prelude that's setting up The Final Shape. We're not gonna get everything now, so deal with it. It's going to be okay.

(Also, even if we got all the answers now, there would likely still be people complaining about it. You killjoys all set your expectations too high. Yes this is me making commentary on what some of you have been saying about what was posted in the recent TWAB. Fucking chill out already.)

Also, for the record, I adore Nimbus. They remind me so much of Galo from the movie Promare, and it's good to see some nonbinary rep. I do wish we'd gotten a bit more time with Rohan though.

Strand did feel like it was trying to be a bit too much a part of it all, however, I think Strand is fun, and I appreciate that our character doesn't just master it right away. It doesn't cone easy to us; it's a struggle. It pretty much knocks our character off their feet the first time after using Strand. Eventually we do learn how to get a handle on it and we learn from our failures. I just wanna say I appreciate that aspect of it.

I want to talk about Osiris and Calus real quick. On one hand, I understand where Osiris is coming from with how aggressive he seems. After everything that's happened to him, I get it. It get his motivations. However, I did think he was being a bit too harsh for most of the campaign. Also, as far as Calus goes- great to see him, great we finally get to fight him, but... I feel like the final fight is only really satisfying if you're running it solo (like I did and got stuck in hell for at least an hour). Also I'm kinda sad the end to his story came as quickly as it did. But alas.

And, as to the final cutscene... well, I still won't elaborate much on it right now, but I will say I had a feeling something like that was going to happen. To me that was a Red Signal moment (any Mechs fans will get tye reference). Where we go from here is... uncertain to say the least.

I really did enjoy Lightfall overall and I'm looking forward to learning more secrets, theorizing about the Veil, and getting more ideas to write about for my Guardians. I've already been through the VexCalabur mission and will be getting around to seasonal stuff/exotic quests thus weekend. And hopefully soon... the new raid that just came out today (say hi to Nezerarc for me lol)

Ooooo just to add a thought to your recent gold post, I don’t think Gold’s intense insecurity comes from something in his past, as you mentioned he had a pretty happy childhood and I personally don’t think his mom was neglectful, I think his insecurity started in gsc, with him thinking that he needs to be “special” to fit in with the other dexholders and he thinks he’s weak because he puts them up on an impossibly high pedestal and assumes that because he can’t reach it then he’s not worthy of being associated with them. If that makes sense. Also as a red enthusiast I would love to hear your red thoughts 👀

OUGH YEAH YEAH YEA THAT MAKES SENSE *ROTATES* ig I was inclined to look for where it may have came from in his past bc like I said Silver and Crys both had weird childhoods (technically Gold's was also weird but in a positive way LMAO) and its fun to find things all the characters in a set have in common but honestly that makes more sense and helps the story flow better so true

ALSO about Red. I struggle so much with wording my thoughts on Red he is more of a "putting him in the brain microwave and rotating him" type character than one I tend to have incredibly deep thoughts about for a variety of reasons . One mostly being that despite how often I reread frlg which is like . The Deep Thoughts About Red arc I rarely am able to remember significant chunks of it dissociative disorder moment ANYWAY

One thing thats funny to me about Red is how much of his past is like . Left up to interpretation. It took us a really long time to get more characters with completely unexplained absent families and Red's parents are . SO absent that in the Yellow arc it's revealed he doesn't even have a family name. When people contact him they just address it to "Red". While we know people ""mature faster"" it really doesn't seem commonplace for an 11-14 year old to live in a house Alone even if they're entirely self-sufficient. It's even more wack because the fact that he doesn't have a family is like Addressed but never explained . It's just a fact about him. He doesn't have a biological family.

I think its interesting bc it gives people a lot of room to mess with his character. I've seen a whole spectrum of how people portray Red's Situation and none of them seem particularly unbelievable because we literally Don't Know what happened there. And obviously it makes found family vibes more intense LMAO between Red's complete lack of a family, Green's half-absent-without-explanation one, and . Blue . LMFAO it's really no wonder these guys all end up basically adopting at least One of their juniors at some point. It's funny

Also side note unrelated I really appreciate how I've been seeing more people putting the effort into portraying him as disabled in fanworks recently 😭 as a kid w chronic pain I was always a little annoyed that the gsc arc went the route of the Magical Disability Cure even in spite of subverting the "disabled people can do anything they put their minds to!!!" trope. Seeing people share my headcanon that he still deals with chronic pain even if the Magic Hot Spring Water™️ helps makes me happy because while I understand why things happened the way they did ough . I want disabled rep (if that wasn't obvious from me cursing Green with my migraines /j)

lupin is a franchise in which “death of the author” can be observed. The people who created those episodes no longer work or benefit from the show. It’s important to acknowledge that the origin of those “jokes” are transmisogynistic, but the nature of this particular show’s status means individuals can rewrite those parts into something that represents them. There are undercurrents of coding, intentional or not, in Lupin’s character from the very beginning, that make some of us lean toward interpreting some of his disguises as drag queen or genderfluid. (Lupin’s character in particular has this, but I haven’t seen much to suggest the same with the other characters. At least, not in the same way. Zenigata’s “crossdressing” bits definitely just come off mean-spirited with no saving graces, headcannons or otherwise.) that said, most people in the fandom are far too lax with their handling of these issues, and need to respect that many others don’t want to see it. I would like to stress that I am definitely not excusing the horrid “jokes”. I’m not rly sure I worded any of this right. I say all this to tell you, some of the gross handling of the fandom is due to ignorance, not malice, though they are indistinguishable without context.

the writers didn't make these jokes bc they "worked for/benefited from" the show, they made them bc they thought they were funny. lupin iii is flawed. the earlier installments are a product of their time and need to be recognized as such. rewriting the transmisogynistic jokes to try and twist them into "good rep" is thinking uncritically bc it ignores the original context-- pretending they aren't being told at the expense of trans women in some desperate grab for lgbt rep IS transmisogyny. yes, coding is and has been a thing all throughout the series, but that doesn't mean it wasn't done with harmful intent

death of the author doesn’t work here either bc i know u cannot tell me with 100% certainty that monkey punch HIMSELF was the one who wrote those jokes into the episodes/movies. he may have started it with how he originally characterized lupin, i'm sure, but at a certain point u can’t keep using him as a scapegoat when other people are perpetuating his bs (namely those who worked on part 2). he was not the only piece of shit who wrote for this franchise

I can’t help but think back in frustration - Would you really fall from grace to touch her face? (And in the brilliant words of @9w1ft) But would you die for her in public? I go back and forth feeling like questions like this aren’t fair at all and thinking they are sort of valid. At this point, it sort of feels like Taylor would only fall from grace for her lover if all the stars and facets of her life aligned perfectly. But perfection like this does not happen. Such is life. So why am I here?

I do question why Spade left certain messages in their final days. I am still holding hope a fervent revolution exonerates everyone. I so desperately want Taylor to regain control of her masters or re-records. Maybe this is the plan they thought was best with multiple goals in mind (re-records, having a family, coming out of the closet one day etc). 4🙁 So "we’re in a position we should realistically have been able to see coming". But we did see it coming, that why some made these extreme scenarios, bc this is the worst possible outcome. feel free to ignore, just kinda venting because you’re one of the few openly ace-friendly spn blogs I can think of. anyways getting real damn tired of seeing posts going around where people make fun of misha for being ace inclusive in the way he talks about cas. like. I was so positively surprised to hear misha be vocally supportive, even though i think he maybe got some things mixed up. I think he said something like "i hope ace fans who saw themselves in cas arent disappointed" after the confession, which confused me a bit, bc as far as i could tell the confession didnt make ace cas impossible. Unless i missed obvious sexual undertones, he could still very much be gay and ace, but im guessing that was mishas own interpretation showing through. Which doesnt devalue his support for ace cas to me at all. Also misha is deathly afraid of disappointing his fans, especially queer fans, so it makes sense that hes supportive of many interpretations. Still, some jokes about bullying him for being very inclusive rub me the wrong way. Especially when people jokingly compare him being supportive of ace cas to getting him to admit hes supportive of cas having, idk, a foot fetish or something. As if supporting ace rep were something outlandish and embarrassing lol.

But im by far not the only ace positive spn blogger! I have a comically low tolerance towards anti ace bullshittery, its usually a one and done thing. If i see some 2016-esque ace exclusion discourse on my dash i immediately unfollow the person who put it there and if i see ace people being used as a butt of a joke im like "nah i dont really need to deal with that in my free time", so my dash is very very curated. I'm selfadmittedly overly sensitive to this stuff so if i tell you that many spn bloggers are ace positive or at least neutral, then you can take my word for it.

Here’s a paraphrased version* of a rant i went on earlier today when i was talkin to my mamma about violin stuff.

So, there are TONS of curriculums of varying degrees of popularity and that were designed, from the ground up, to teach violin all the way from a brand new baby beginner, aaaaallll the way up to a prodigious skill level. The most popular of these is the ~Suzuki method~ which I talked a bit about a few days ago, but there are others. 

Most of these methods have a collection of different ~volumes~ of books that are filled with pieces that are strategically placed so that each piece helps a student master a skill that they’ll need in order to play the next piece. They introduce new concepts in small, manageable doses. 

These books are literally designed for the student to learn EVERY. SINGLE. PIECE. IN. THE. BOOKS. And they’re supposed to be learned IN THE SPECIFIC ORDER THAT THEY ARE PRESENTED IN. The books also often have supplementary exercises before each piece to help the student prepare.

Just about every violin teacher on the planet will require that their students purchase at least some of these books. 

But do you know how many teachers actually teach all the pieces to the students???

The number is not much higher than 0. 

Literally, I only know ONE!!!!! violinist in my age range who said that her teacher taught her every single piece in every single Suzuki book. And you know what? She’s a fucking PHENOMENAL player. She whips Paganini out so casually. She busts out the Tchaik concerto For Funsies. 

Other than this ONE girl out of all the many dozens of violinists I’ve been well acquainted with, literally 0 of their teachers bothered to do this, including my own. 

And it’s so fucking amazingly ABSURD bc like...

these books/curriculums - Suzuki and Barbara Barber and Essential Elements and whatnot - were created by pedagogues who dedicated their lives to figuring out all the best ways to teach instrumental music. They studied. They went through trials and errors. They gathered as much information as they could. They spent thousands of painstaking hours figuring out exactly how to guide a student from Beginner to Professional, and they laid it out step-by-step in these books where everything is in perfect order. There’s no guesswork as far as when to teach what, or how to teach it, or what supplementary skills need to be taught in tandem... they put it all RIGHT FUCKIN THERE in the books...

only for 99% of teachers to completely fucking ignore it. 

Literally, i dug out my old Barbara Barber book 2 today and discovered that the very first piece includes techniques that I’m still shitty at today. 

BOOK 2!!!! TWO!!!! TEE DOUBLEYOU OH!!!! ONE TWO!!!! The technique in question is left-hand-pizz on open strings. Which like, I can DO it, but I struggle to maintain a steady tempo. And the passages of the piece that use the technique are strategically placed for the specific purpose of helping the student learn to keep a steady tempo. 

What’s EXTRA ridiculous about this is that my old teacher - the shitty one - actually TOLD me to go out and buy all the Barbara Barber books in the first year I studied with her. There were six of them. Six books! Starting with volume 1 that was filled with beginner rep, and ending with volume 6, which was early/semi-professional rep. 

But do you think she started me out in book 1?

LMAO OF COURSE NOT, SHE STARTED ME IN BOOK FOOOOOUUUUURRRRRR!!!!!!! 

can you imagine??? making your student go out and buy books 1-6 and then starting them with book 4??? 

you’d think that she at least had me go to book 5 next, but why the FUCK would she do something so logical when, instead, she could skip me right to THE LAST PIECE IN BOOK SIX????? 

And then, naturally, she forced me to play butcher Paganini 24. 

STUPID!

Anyway, when I talked about all this with the one girl I know whose teacher actually bothered to teach her everything, I brought up how my teacher and many other teachers I know are so eager to ~skip~ their students based on their assessment that many pieces are “too easy/simple” for the student, and she responded by telliing me about how her teacher basically taught her that just because something seems “simple” doesn’t mean there still isn’t a lot to be learned from it. She talked about how in the event that she was already adept at the technical skills introduced in any new piece, instead of just skipping it, the teacher would use it as an opportunity to develop the subtler aspects of her musicianship - phrasing, timbre, color, artistic interpretation, harmonic analysis... things that would help her be all the more prepared for the more complicated, demanding pieces she’d be learning later on. 

That makes so much fucking sense, it’s honeslty offensive to me that that mindset isn’t held by every single teacher in the world.

Ok so you have misrepresented some stuff. I’m tired of Taylor bashing. Critique I get. But let’s get some facts straight.

Her first major political statement was not when she was releasing new music. It was in October last year before the November election. That’s when Trump said he liked her music 25% less. She had nothing coming out anytime soon when she did that.

Louis has a consistently terrible team that has only just started to improve. Do you really think he wouldn’t have marketed Just Like You more if he could have? It’s a good song, and it has important content that the general public should hear too. Don’t make his team’s failure into something honorable.

I used to be critical of Taylor for not speaking up sooner about politics, but I realized that being political when you are quite as big as Taylor is extremely risky, especially coming from a country fan foundation. Plus she was “cancelled” anyway. What would her voice have done for the mess of the 2016 election? And after that during the Rep era, she gave LOUD pride speeches early on in her tour. She did a lot that pretty clearly demonstrated she was NOT supportive of the alt right. Anyone who really wanted to know could have seen that. So of course she sued the woman saying she was alt right. I’m not saying I like it, but if you are not a nazi and someone called you one, wouldn’t you want them to stop? I wish she had used different methods, but again, what would have worked? I’m not sure there is something that would have convinced this woman to change her tune.

When she did speak up last October, she explained that the absolutely horrible political events of the past few years had made her want to speak up. “In the past I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now.”  Think of how you have changed over the past few years. We have all become more aware of our role and responsibility. We have all grown louder and more aware. Why can’t Taylor also have grown and learned?

In an essay in Elle earlier this year she elaborated on that. “Only as someone approaching 30 did I feel informed enough to speak about it to my 114 million followers. Invoking racism and provoking fear through thinly veiled messaging is not what I want from our leaders, and I realized that it actually is my responsibility to use my influence against that disgusting rhetoric.” Waiting to find your voice when you have this big a platform seems pretty solid to me.

Taylor isn’t a white feminist. In her October post she said, “I believe that the systemic racism we still see in this country towards people of color is terrifying, sickening and prevalent.” She also made a point of protesting a lack of laws about domestic abuse which unfortunately disproportionately effects women of color and trans women of color. She has pointedly included and celebrated women of color in her tours. On Rep tour the women dancers–many of color–all were introduced and given a moment just for them as part of the song Gorgeous. She has spoken about racism and I expect to see her continue to do so during this next election cycle.

Taylor did not mock Kim K’s robbery in the music video. I see how you could interpret it that way, because there was a robbing scene and a ring prominently displayed but that was in reference to a lot of Swiftie fan theories that she was engaged and the larger feeling of being attacked and dragged aka robbed. There were references to Kim but that was not one. Taylor is a women with stalkers who has her house broken into regularly. She of all people wouldn’t joke about that.

Last but not least, Taylor is pairing her new music with advocacy DESPITE the fact that it has turned away many of her old country fans or older Republican fans. She is also on her way out of the closet, which would make it much easier for others in the music industry to come out. Ahem. Harry and Louis.

So I have to ask that you stop spreading misinformation and stop hating on a woman who is changing the music industry by forcing streaming services to pay artists fairly and now–on her coming out journey. She donates to charity. She advocates for politicians and policies that could improve or even save lives. She is using her platform for good. Stop hating.

Or I guess I should just say… don’t step on her gown. You need to calm down.

TLDR: Larries are often so uninformed and nasty about Taylor. She didn’t speak up about politics for a long time, but when she started it was not near any new content from her. She is queer anyway. She's been very misunderstood by her own community.
