Time for my unsolicited book review!

Tsurune Book 3 is one of the books of all time.

I'm not trying to be funny, that is my true opinion about this book.

I've said before that it feels like the author was forced to write this book in a hurry, and after finishing it, I can only say that those feelings have only grown stronger. I think the author was going for an abstract and spiritual feeling but it didn't really work out. It only made the story hard to follow, and the tendency for the novel to jump from topic to topic seemingly at random didn't help. It's probably super obvious in the author's head, but that doesn't matter if the reader can't follow their thinking. I really do question what the editors are doing because I'm not sure if they're giving the author proper feedback.

The novel also suffers from trying to do a lot but not doing any of it satisfactorily. It introduced a lot of new characters and plot points but never really did anything with them?? The new first-years faded out of the story after the beginning and idek what's going on with Kuon. As for the new school Haneina...the author just gave them one """quirky""" trait each and called it a day. It kinda happened with Tsujimine too but it was more subtle with them, and I think the central relationship of Nikaidou and Fuwa was compelling and well-written. Asahina and Eddie, on the other hand, are just really weird?? I honestly don't understand what their narrative role is supposed to be??

This might be a controversial opinion but I feel like the anime tells a more coherent, polished version of the story. I was rewatching it the other day and I was kind of blown away by how the visual quality improved between the seasons. S1 was definitely not bad looking but S2 is just *chef's kiss*. Idk if there's going be an S3 but it will be interesting to see how (or if) they adapt book 3

Anyways i don't want to say that book 3 is kinda pointless since it did give us some reveals (perhaps unnecessarily) but on the other hand...i feel like book 2 had a nice ending for the series as a whole as well? idk. if there is going to be a book 4, i hope it will be all about Kazemai hunting down Masa-san's bio dad

This happened when I was reading a certain foreign novel’s translated version. As I was reading through the point of view of a character whose first-person pronoun was “私” (watashi), I came across a surprising description. To my surprise, the character I thought was a woman suddenly started to shave their beard. Later, I learned that there was an unspoken rule that men used “watashi” written in kanji, and women used “watashi” written in katakana.

Minato’s personal pronoun is “ore” in hiragana. It encompasses the meaning of “undifferentiated,” someone of unknown gender who is neither male or female, although his physical body is that of a boy. Nanao’s pronoun is “ore” written in katakana, a person of unknown nationality who can’t be classified as either Japanese or foreign, a person who wavers between the two, a hybrid existence that crosses that line. Takigawa Masaki is also someone who hovers between “human” and “not human,” so his name is written as “Masa-san” (マサさん) in the text. Shuu is also a character who is in between.

I’m attracted to such “fluctuating” and “swaying” things. Things that can’t fixed or distinguished in form or state, as changeable as “water.” Kaleidoscopic freedom and loneliness are two sides of the same coin. People who fluctuate cannot stay in one place, and instability follows. Because they can’t be classified, they do not belong anywhere, nor can they be emphasized with. I wanted to somehow hold back those who can’t stop walking. I wrote this story because I wanted them by my side.

Changing the topic, I was on my way home from a domestic trip. After spending a relaxing time listening to the chirping of birds on an isolated island, I heard a large explosion sound when I got off at a certain station in Tokyo. The warning signal of a train entering the station continued to sound, and announcements reverberated from all over. I forgot to bring my earphones, so I was unable to plug my ears and ran all the way to the edge of the platform. Glowing neon lights reflected diffusely, and the words on billboards and other signs crowded in my field of vision like a herd of horses. I almost thought that I had time travelled back to wartime. We had become so accustomed to the flood of sound, light, and text that we don’t realize we’re on the verge of drowning.

Tsurune is the story of masters and disciples and bow friends with the theme of rebirth, and it began as the story of seven archers. The theme of Volume 3 is “Meigen, that is the sound of the dawn,” and I wrote about shari kenshou (seeing true nature through the shot).

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone involved in the making of this book: Koyama Kyugu-sama, who I’ve interviewed, T-sama of the KA Esuma Bunko Editorial Department, Kyoto Animation-sama who was in charge of illustrations, the proofreaders, the novel’s official website, the printing company, and the distributors. The letters I’ve received are my treasures, and I have displayed them in my tokonoma alcove. I would like to thank my beloved kyudo teachers and bow friends, my precious friends, and my supportive family.

This genuinely might be the first time I’ve ever had a problem with Kaede in ANYTHING! I get that she’s upset, I get that she’s angry, but this WASN’T Hajime’s fault! There’s still no guarantee that killing Shirogane will stop any of this, and she doesn’t seem to realise just how much pressure he’s putting himself under already just to fix this. It honestly feels like if Hajime does ONE WRONG THING, the entire universe suffers for it, and that’s still somehow HIS fault!? I don’t get it at all.

//I understand that, and you're absolutely right to disagree with her, but it's important to remember the context of what's going on here:

The Playbacks weren't happening live, they were information collected from Masa's memories in the future and assembled into a series of videos from her perspective. Nobody there was talking to anyone in 2013 or 2030 directly, nor did they know they would be. I know I had them answer some asks, but that was because some questions were easier to answer in that format, rather than just compressing them all into giant text posts.

Kaede is still a teenager and she just lost her sister and her father, so she's bound to be emotional and make conclusions that aren't actually true.

This isn't ALL Hajime's fault, despite what she said. Hajime's actions unintentionally set up a situation where people like Matsuda and Shirogane could take advantage of it, and then things progressed through a much larger chain of events from there. Hajime was only one small part of it and he didn't intend for any of it to happen like it did.

We've seen things objectively, but Kaede has only ever heard about how all this got started from Sayuri, who's spent decades in this timeline in hiding and being very resentful of her parents for what happened with Kanade. She's an unreliable narrator, but also Kaede's only source of information.

This Kaede has no idea time travel technology exists. The crew in 2030 were able to record Masa's memories from that future with a lot of work. From Kaede's perspective, she was just angrily venting to someone who once knew her grandfather and is left trying to understand why he didn't do more to stop Shirogane.

//Personally, I'd say this all really is Shirogane's fault, but I also can't entirely blame Kaede for being angry and trying to process it all.

//Either way, the goal is to show that this future needs to be corrected, and I'd say we have a lot of reasons to do so ^^;

Don't worry, you don't need to change or modify what you wrote, I only mentioned those historical data because I honestly didn't know why in the United States they celebrate May 5th so much and in my country it is a day more than anything of commemoration and mourning, it seemed to me It is interesting to mention it since many people from other countries are not that interested in the history of Mexico and I thought it was something beautiful that you were interested in that. The history of my country is very sad and has murky moments since we suffered for many years from slavery and from countries that wanted to steal our territories or that wanted to take advantage of Mexico's resources, so I imagine that sometimes in other countries they do not specify so many things. Generally when someone knows something about Mexico it is about apparently happy things that the United States has tried to market but it makes me very happy when people from other countries investigate in more depth, a story this sad should not be forgotten. 💖

Of course! I haven't had the privilege to visit Mexico but ever since I was a kid, I've always loved learning about new cultures. And in Texas there's a large Mexican-American population, so that led to a lot of brushes with Mexican and Mexican-American culture. Since my job is about sharing my home's culture with Japanese people, and since Texas is ALWAYS going to have ties and roots in Mexico, it's only fair that I talk about it a little bit. I do the same with Italian-American culture too since my dad's side of the family is from there.

My kids have very surface level knowledge of Mexico, but they always like learning about new places and cultures. I also discovered that Osaka and Tokyo both have Cinco de Mayo celebrations, but they're largely based off of the Mexican-American interpretation of the holiday. I'm trying to plan something special for my coworkers in May by making some stuff for them to try, but it's really hard to find the ingredients for TexMex and REALLY hard for authentic Mexican cuisine. But there IS a business in Osaka that is run by an established chef that delivers tamales anywhere in the country (Wayanone is her company name), and I'm going to try to make flour tortillas to cook with if I can't find since sadly, masa harina is just not a thing here. Tho I have found corn flour but it's not quite the same as masa yk?

I'll also make a little guide about the holiday and explain the difference between how it's celebrated in Mexico vs. in the US, and maybe a little Spanish vocabulary poster to my English board in May. Just some basic words if they ever want to go abroad to Mexico or even the US in states where it's commonly spoken and want some basic polite words and phrases: Hola, gracias, etc.

Idk abt personality wise but I had an idea for an au where Ranmaru pretends to be a cabin boy on Motonari's ship in order to get info and all the pirates r won over by his charming, idol-like persona-except Motonari. Ranmaru is determined to crack the man's devil may care facade, at first because of his mission but quickly changes to his own interest. Idk i just think that'd be neat :)

Mitsuhide x Ranmaru

Mitsuhide suspects Ranmaru's up to something and in order to find out the truth he gets closer to the lad. When Ranmaru is found out to be a traitor Mitsuhide is the one who must torture him but he can't bear to do it and lets him go. For Ranmaru's part he has fallen for the man and torn between his loyalty to his master and love for Mitsuhide. The angst is piping hot.

Keiji x Kanetsugu

Something definitely happened between these two while they were spying together 😏 no doubt abt it. This ship got that good enemies to friends to lovers vibe going on and I for one think they'd be a power couple.

Charlie asked for nachos for dinner and I was like ok and then he asked if I could make like a cheese sauce and I was like ok but then I realized I had no wheat flour so I was like maybe not because almost anything like that has to start with the roux but then I realized I had a chili kit in the pantry which comes with a little packet of masa flour for thickening the chili and so I took that out of there and used that for a roux and honestly it worked fine as any imo. No pics tonight bc the plate wasn’t very exciting look-wise

Gianni Lukashenko is twenty one years old, seven years younger than myself, and the primo male ballerina of the New York City Ballet. Recently he acquired a new Amazon credit card.

"I did, look!" I held up my to go cup from Caffé Aronne, it's my go to coffee shop when I visit family in New York. I find it funny that they call taro a purple potato here. I ordered a purple potato latte with almond milk and an almond croissant for myself, and a blue butterfly pea latte with oatmilk for Gianni.

I don't know how I managed to order anything after flirting with fucking Timothée Chalamet! I'm still shaking, tapping my chipped sage green nails against the paper cup. I still can smell the spearmint gum on his breath, cigarettes clinging to his leather jacket, and the citrus and lavender notes of Chanel on his skin. Those olive Hazel eyes touched my skin and caressed the sight of me, I was allured but also self conscious becoming fully aware of my flaws. I'm not large but a little soft, I could have a flatter stomach and a smaller butt. Having an ass is wonderful but too much of one…I struggled with my body image sometimes.

So it was a little shocking, that little exchange we had. I was surprised he was even attracted to me, I'm a guy, penis and all.

"Something happened." Gianni accused with a secret smile and serpentine eyes.

I froze, feeling like a caught rabbit.

My cousin's smile turned into a Cheshire grin. "What's his name?"

I hid behind my hair as I sipped my sweet latte. "It doesn't matter, I'll never see him again."

So I thought.

The next day I joined Gianni at his rehearsal down at the theatre. He's playing Orpheus in Orfeo ed Euridice, naturally who else would play the lead male role? I tease him about sleeping his way to the top, but Gianni seriously is such a talented dancer. His moves are fluid and beautiful, like a gazelle, and his expressions are well…expressive.

It was like seeing the canvas before Mona Lisa, watching the dancers practice in their danskin, and honestly they're a lot more laid back and jovial than I thought.

I sat as an engaged spectator, it wasn't early at all. Training always starts at 10 in the morning, but Gianni took me out to the clubs after dinner at Bar Masa, and we were joined by the other dancers. It was clear that Daisuke Ogura, another principal male dancer, was a jealous rival. And the prima, Bella Garrett who is good friends with Gianni, and is to play Eurydice, confirmed it.

Apparently Daisuke is the hardest working dancer in the company, and he feels as though Gianni has everything handed to him.

The rivalry in ballet can be an ugly thing, I wish Daisuke saw how well revered he is and focused on that.

I was a little afraid to hang out with a bunch of ballet dancers, I'm not gracefully lithe and swanlike, I'm short and soft, definitely no abs or muscle. But everyone has been so kind to me so far, including me in conversations, laughing together, and Raquel Johnson, a principal dancer, was my main dance partner at two out of four of the clubs we danced at.

So 10 in the morning might as well be five in the morning to me right now. My Starbucks London fog latte wasn't helping me much either. I could barely even get dressed this morning, thank God Gianni's lavish marble shower has a seat, or I would have collapsed. Black biker shorts, an old oversized Smiths t-shirt, and black uggs were all I could manage this morning. My bleached wavy curls were tossed up in a messy top knot, just a nose stud and my staple ear studs were my only jewelry, and as for makeup, only Vaseline's rosy lips painted my lips.

I was starving, Gianni packed his breakfast. It was just a banana, an apple, trail mix, and a protein bar.

After taking some pictures to send to my little sister Larissa, who's fifteen and attends the Marat Daukayev Ballet School back home. I told Gianni I was going to go grab something to eat, he didn't mind, training lasted from ten in the morning to six at night.

I tossed on my Daria canvas jacket, my black square sunglasses, grabbed my black vegan leather and chains mini backpack, and headed out.

I went to a bagel shop nearby on 2nd avenue, called NY Jumbo Bagels. It's a perfect New York bagel nosh, the kind you'd see in a movie in the 80s or 90s, I felt like Kim Basinger almost.

I salivated at the smell and sight, deciding on the LEO bagel (Lox, eggs, and onion on bagel), and the two eggs, fries, and coffee special. It was a lot of food, but I was absolutely famished. But, before I could pull out my card to pay, a beautiful voice caught between deep and light with a laziness to it cut through, with the swipe of a black card. "I'll take care of that Hannah."

I whipped my head back so fast I got whiplash. Standing there towering over me looking devilishly handsome in a Chorus Line hat and expensive sweats, was none other than Timothée Chalamet.

How was this happening? Of course the hottest man on the planet caught me pigging out in my bumming-it-couture.

I didn't even have makeup on, my hair looked crazy, curly, didn't make the call backs for Pam Anderson style, oh I could throw myself into the Hudson.

But he was just staring at me, with those gorgeous sleepy eyes. That smile that yanked on my heart chords, and he smells so good oh God I wanted to lick him, I wanted to get down on my knees and yanked down those sweats and take his cock down my throat.

"Yury, right?"

Fuck me, he remembered.

"Uh yeah."

He chuckled and I bit back a groan. "It's funny how we Uh, keep running into each other."

"Yeah, meant to be or something like that."

Ugh, don't tease me. "Something Like that." I said with a nervous laugh. "I look like such a mess."

"Oh come on, you look like you wandered out of an urban outfitters catalog, I look like I just rolled out of bed."

"Okay it's a little too early for recreational drugs, you're crazy if you think you look like a mess. " I laughed.

He laughed too and it was authentic, carefree, and dorky which was so sexy. "It's never too early for recreational drug use!" He winked. "But I'm serious, you look…" His eyes took their time combing over me, lingering a little bit on the black lace strap of the bralette I wore under my t-shirt. I felt my cheeks heat. "Warm, soft, and pretty."

He finds me pretty? I couldn't stop the smile forming on my lips.

He ended up ordering the same as me, and we sat together at his table outside. He looked perfect, sitting there blasé, fry in one hand and a cigarette in the other.

Our knees touched and I felt the springs boing in my spinal cord and heart.

"So, how are you enjoying the big apple? Have you seen all the cliches yet?" He smiled and sipped his coffee before taking a drag from his cigarette, my eyes focused on his lip as some escaped from his pursed lips. "Oh I'm so sorry, does smoking bother you?"

"No! Not at all, I mean all my exes smoked–" I babbled.

His eyebrows attractively shot up as he smiled with his teeth. "So what I'm hearing is that you like guys that smoke?"

I swallowed and licked my lips, feeling his eyes on my throat and mouth. I felt a little bold. "Maybe it has something to do with poetry and rock n roll or something, I find it ignorantly romantic."

"Good, so I can get away with this."

I furrowed my brows in confusion. "Get away with what?"

"This." He breathed, and he leaned in smelling like Marlboro, Chanel, and fries. His mouth, his lips are surprisingly soft and he tastes like cherry chapstick, coffee, cigarettes, and remnants of ibuprofen. An arm curled around my waist pulling me in close and I found my hands cupping his diamond sharp jaw with silky skin. He tilted his head kissing me in slow devouring, brushing against mine before sucking on it.

We kissed until we were reminded that we were human beings who needed to breathe to live. I pulled my lips back, panting, feeling dizzy and I even let slip a giggle.

He smiled with a breathy laugh, his two front teeth are so cute like a bunny, I forgot myself and licked them. This emitted a low groan from, he clutched my waist and pulled me into his lap. I was nervous I'd crush him and tried to move off but his grip was strong and he didn't let me move as he kissed up my neck. I bit down hard on my lip to prevent a squeal, and kissed up to my ear and spoke into it. "You're spending the day with me, boy."

-He no longer stands at 177.8 cm ( 5'10 ) but now at 182.88 cm ( 6'0 ), he managed to grow somewhat taller as he aged

-Goro works as a private investigator, the hours may be irregular but it gives him the ability to try and make his schedule somewhat flexible if he's needed somewhere ( and he still manages to make good money )

-He still actively slips into the Metaverse, but unlike his youth he can actually handle himself, and he will sometimes take up dark web assassination jobs. He doesn't keep it a secret, but he doesn't really talk about it either, and he takes them sparingly. It's not extremely often he does, though if Ren gets involved... it'll end up as a change of heart unless planned otherwise.

-Goro has inherited the wealth from his father after his death ( whether it be by natural causes or by being killed ) and so has his mother, they live comfortably. Though, Himari has created her own little restaurant and happily runs it, and it always brings a smile to Goro's face to go to it.

-Goro doesn't feel guilty as he used to over how much he relied on his mom and Masa. He's gotten himself out of that way of thinking for the most part, so it's pretty much non-existant. Likely after a good conversation with Masa and their mother, because honestly after faking his death and not telling anyone about his plans, it was clear one was needed

-Any children of Masa and Hiyori's will be instantly loved and adored by Goro, there are no questions nor buts or ifs. He will just adore them. Also, if his mother has another child... well, he'll be happy to have a younger sibling

-Goro has likely told Futaba about his big brother after the two of them figured out they were related as half-siblings, Goro has probably introduced the two of them or has tried to

-He's adopted quite a bit of his mother's mannerisms and skills much to her displeasure, but specifically the one where he can make himself cry on spot. He couldn't do it in his youth until Himari taught him how to. He likes having the skill handy

-Family before anything is what he lives by, and additionally: Goro does not mind how many kids he and his partner have, he's fine with none or two or just however many his partner wants.

-Often looks tired, he only sleeps soundly when next to someone. Otherwise, he often has nightmares of his father and everything that happened during his third year. He needs to go to therapy but... well, he has a fair reason as to why he has reservations to see a therapist
