Buddie 611 meta
Tumblr media
I LOVED that the ep showed us how Eddie wasn’t doing compressions on Buck because someone instructed him to. No, he just couldn’t stand by, couldn't let someone else try to bring his partner back to life, so he announced he was taking over, fuck anyone who would try to stop him. No one even tries to, they wordlessly acknowledge Eddie as Buck's mad with worry partner, much like how in 315, the team treated Buck while Eddie was in danger. And then Eddie shocks Buck’s heart back and gets his pulse going again. Eddie literally kept Buck’s heart going, and then he was still so distraught that he yelled at the medical staff (even though as a medic, he knows it’s pointless), “Do more!” 'Coz that’s what Eddie himself was doing, he stepped in and did more than he was asked to, a continuation of us having seen him doing exactly that in 610 as well, when he didn’t wait for Bobby to decide what to do to help Buck, Eddie charged up an electrocuted ladder he was just thrown off of. Because when it comes to Buck, he will always do more. ~~
Tumblr media
The significance of the bond between them is also shown when Eddie is the first flashback Buck experiences within the coma dream, the first lifeline to the real world. That’s continued when the second flashback is to the tsunami, where Buck saved Chris. However, Eddie and Chris aren't quite present in these flashbacks. Buck’s subconscious is at war with itself. The Diaz boys are this powerful connection to the real world (much like Buck and Chris were Eddie’s back in 315, as I tried to demonstrate in this gifset), but the coma dream shows the power of childhood trauma and how much we can be trapped by the desire to fix it. The whole dream contrasts Buck having parents who are loving, who want and appreciate him, with everything bad that would happen if he weren’t with the 118. As the dream goes on, the price keeps getting higher, yet Buck still struggles until the very end with letting go of the illusion that his parents love him, and the sense he himself can be fixed if they do, like he’d then finally feel good enough. That’s why, in a sense, Eddie and Chris have to be more absent than present for the coma dream to be seductive. Because if they’re fully present, if he truly engages with their coma versions and remembers the family unit he has outside the dream, the balance would be tipped over, the battle would have been decided before Buck had a chance to learn his lesson.
Tumblr media
That’s why he only hears what happened to Eddie, he doesn’t witness it firsthand, and why when the dream's seductive nature is failing, suddenly Chris is there (despite his coma version not being in LA) to tempt Buck into staying. Even then, walking away from the dream version of Chris while telling him that he’s not real is the only thing Buck says he'll always feel guilty about. ~~
Tumblr media
I just gotta include a small note here on how much I love the progression we’ve had from Bobby saying in 101 that while Buck calls him “pops,” they’re not a family, through Buck telling TK aloud that Bobby’s basically his dad (in the crossover) to Bobby finally admitting this is true for him as well. I’ve pointed out this season repeatedly (like in my 610 meta) that the show’s dealing with questions of fatherhood, including the question of biology in that context, and this ep was no different, yet this truly was one of the highlights for me when it comes to this theme. I love how much Buck and Bobby mean to each other. ~~
Tumblr media
Buck’s mom saying “your kids” and Buck being confused until she clarifies it’s not his actual children, it’s his students, then his disappointment, that’s one loose end that the ep didn’t wrap up, because that is a continuation of the whole sperm donor situation (with Margaret once more being at the center of confusion on whether Buck is a dad or not). This one is only going to be really addressed once Buck fully deals with his role in Connor and Kameron’s baby’s life, something he can’t properly do until he also faces his role in Christopher’s, a role that this ep really emphasized. No other kids were by Buck’s bed, not even May who has free access as a legal adult and who has now admitted she knows Buck is her step dad’s other kid. Chris needs his Buck in a way that no other firefam kid does. ~~
Tumblr media
Which brings me to the heart wrenching fate we (and Buck) learn the Diaz boys have suffered in his absence. I have mentioned countless times in my meta posts how important I believe 204 was to Buddie. How critical Buck’s decision to step into Eddie’s mess with him was. Not once, but twice in that ep, first when he helps Eddie by talking to Bobby about Chris spending the day at the station with the 118, then when Buck introduces Eddie to Carla. I have always said Eddie was very attracted (and not just physically) to Buck from the start, but Eddie’s Christopher’s dad first, so he never would have been able to fall for anyone who doesn’t also love his son as much as he does. In other words, I’ve always thought the heart eyes Eddie gives Buck at the end of the Carla introduction scene, that was the moment when he was gone. And now we learn how meaningful Buck himself knows that was. Without that happening, his subconscious just knows Eddie’s parents would have succeeded with their threat of getting Chris away from his dad, leading to Eddie completely falling apart. Buddie's tale is a love story, and this coma revelation is basically the show telling us Buck’s subconscious already knows this. ~~
Tumblr media
Eddie’s reactions in the real world are also a reflection of how important Buddifer’s little family unit is to all three of them. Keep in mind, even with his therapy, Eddie is still a reserved guy, right? He normally remains calm in the face of adversity, it takes a lot to rattle him, he doesn't easily get to the point where he falls apart emotionally. When he does in this ep, he only allows himself to when his son is looking away. And even then, he just can't go on answering Christopher's questions about Buck's state. So it highlights how important Buck is to Eddie, when the latter DOES fall apart. When he jumps in to take care of Buck on the gurney as it’s wheeled into the hospital. When he shouts at the medical staff. When he looks so wrecked at the hospital, close to what previously it took weeks of insomnia to do to him. When he can’t look at Buck's comatose body or stop himself from crying while he listens to Chris speaking or bring himself to be strong for his son and answer him. And of course, when the reserved Eddie goes against hospital regulations and parental common sense (to keep your kid away from disturbing sights), sneaking his son in to see Buck. But Eddie does it because he gets it. When Chris says he needs to talk to Buck, Eddie knows the full weight of this, because it’s his truth, too. Both Diaz boys need their Buck to wake up. So everything Chris is saying, all the comfort he’s offering, along with the insistence that Buck MUST return to them? He’s speaking for Eddie as well. ~~
Tumblr media
I also liked that Buck realized during his coma dream two truths that seem, but are not, mutually exclusive: that he does have a family worth going back for, but that ultimately, he’s returning for himself. He’s not trying to please anyone else, he’s not trying to get anyone else’s approval. His adoptive family matters to him, even his bio parents who have failed him repeatedly matter, but at the end of the day, he’s not going back because his loved ones do or don’t need him, do or don’t accept him, do or don’t approve of him. He’s going back because he loves them and he wants to be with them. And that ties in with another thing we see in this ep.
Tumblr media
Bobby describes the coma dream as a world where Buck can fix everything. Buck says not all, seemingly implying he couldn’t bring Bobby back from the dead. But that’s not actually true, is it? 'Coz the coma world is Buck’s subconscious, it can be altered in whatever way he wants. Bobby can be there and talk to him despite being “dead” which means... he’s not really dead, not in the way that makes death so tragic, depriving us of our loved ones. Chris can be at the hospital, despite not being in LA and not knowing Buck. It’s a coma dream, there are no rules! Buck’s subconscious is king! And we know how important it is for Buck to fix things, Eddie pointed it out in 504, and we saw a callback to this just last week. The climax of this ep is even set against the musical backdrop of Coldplay’s Fix You. But this trait stems from Buck feeling like he needs to fix things, to be the hero, in order to be worthy of love. In the coma, Buck realizes he IS loved. And therefore, he doesn’t need to fix EVERYTHING in order to make a difference and be deserving of love. He IS enough, exactly as he is, limited fixing possibilities and all. That’s how he gets to choose both his loved ones and himself in coming back to reality. ~~
Tumblr media
Oh, can we talk about the heart drawings scene from 514 and how it relates to this ep? I recently answered an ask about it, and pointed out I think Eddie’s heart has been Chris for years now, and for a long time, it was only him. But that scene showed how, thanks to the way Buck has been there for both of them along the years, helping, healing and loving them, Eddie’s heart is no longer exclusively his son. It’s Buck, too. Which explains why the heart theme we’ve been seeing with Eddie since 413 has expanded to include Buck’s in this ep, with Eddie literally restarting it. So 611 really affirms who Eddie’s heart now belongs to. We see how, without Buck, he would have lost Chris as well. Without Buck, he would have lost his whole heart. ~~
Tumblr media
And that brings us of course to what kind of a person Eddie would be once that happened. We learn he would have become this angry man, drawing on his reaction during the lawsuit story arc. But notice that in both cases, a part of the issue causing Eddie's anger is not having Buck. Yes, back in s3 Eddie was dealing with Shannon’s death, but he doesn’t really start losing it until he also can no longer speak to Buck. Similarly, in the coma dream, he becomes Angry Guy due to the loss of Chris, but that is tied in with the absence of Buck in his life. In other words, losing Buck causes Eddie SUCH grief, that it has no other way out except for rage. ~~
Tumblr media
Did you notice how once again, Buck got to be Madney’s truth teller? He did that first in 208, when he realized Madney are basically dating. Interestingly, everything he told Maddie about them was also true for him and Eddie. Then in this ep, he tells Chim Madney basically should be married, since they already share every other part of domestic and committed life. Obviously this will come into play soon. So just remember that once again, his words can be easily applied to Buddifer as well, plus Buck’s truth teller status was paralleled back in s2 with Maddie in 204, when she asked her brother about his newfound boy crush on Eddie... ~~
Tumblr media
Okay, last one, but I just had to share with you maybe my fave parallel from this ep. You might have noticed in my 610 meta how much I think the lightning stroke parallels the shooting arc. Well, this was true with one of the sweetest moments in the ep’s conclusion. Just like how, at the end of 414, we got to witness Eddie hugging Chris while Buck watched on, so we get to see Buck hugging their son while Eddie looks on now. Except Eddie isn’t just looking. He enables the hug by helping Chris into Buck’s arms. Tell me again: how is this not a family? How are these men not partners, dedicated and loving towards each other in every way that matters...? ~~

Chapter 3: Foxtrot Oscar
Summary:
Foxtrot Oscar / FO / Fuck off (Army) Polite way of telling someone to go play on a motorway.
TF141/female reader
spy reader, forced bonding, slow burn, slow build, militar inaccuracies, sugestive language, language, canon typical violence, second chance, they hate you at first sorry
previous: chapter two "Charlie Foxtrot"
▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀
You waited outside Price's office, biting on your chapped lips. You could hear them arguing inside, not necessarily screaming but loud enough so you could hear the words "brat", "fuck off" and "glasshouse".
After a few minutes they came out. The first one passing by you was Gaz, who just gave you a glare. Okay, fair.
The second one was Soap, who purposefully bumped into you with his shoulder, hard, making you huff. Rude.
But who took the cake was Ghost, who came out fuming from the office, and used your distraction from Soap's push to grab by the neck of your uniform and harshly ram you against the wall behind you, making you hit the back of your head and causing you to wince. Great, he’s going to chew my head off.
"Listen, you little shit," He said in a bitter tone, his eyes filled with anger and locked on yours, as he, instead of looking down, pulled you up from your clothes to meet his height, making you tip-toe to keep up. “If I catch you even thinking about trying anything, I will personally make sure to find the shittiest hole and throw you there to rot. Do you understand?"
"Roger that," You answered in a grunt, to which he just gripped your uniform tighter, pressing you harder against the wall, making you hit the back of your head again.
"Try again," He said in the same menacing tone, his eyes still watching every movement, every twitch of your face.
"Yes sir," Satisfied with your answer, he immediately dropped you, making you stumble before he followed Soap and Gaz down the hall.
Nice work environment.
This was your official introduction to your new team for the next five years. Very promising.
You had to wait one day for this, as they had to return from your hometown back to base. Price let you settle down in your new room in the barracks while you waited and you spent your free day feeling self-pity, allowing yourself to cry and let it all out so you could act normal tomorrow.
Your new room was bare and dark, with a thin and not very comfortable bunk bed, an empty desk, a chair and scattered closed boxes with some of your things. Your other belongings were inside a storage unit, as Price made sure to clear your new flat and he told you very proudly how he managed to get your deposit back and return the flat back to the real-state company with some excuses before KorTac had the chance to “accidentally” burn down the place to cover their tracks, so good-bye to your new home.
You weren't going to unpack now, not when you're feeling like your world crumbled down and you're trying to put it together. Back in KorTac you were considered missing, you imagined how they must have reacted, probably an "oh, well," before they pretended you never existed while they ran your record through the paper shredder and gave your position to someone else. Both your computer and your phone were searched thoroughly in case you were being followed and to complete the humiliation of your situation, they arranged the picture for your I.D. card to be taken immediately, masterfully capturing your broken nose and your two black eyes in a lovely plastic card that you had to present to get everywhere in base.
Price showed you around the base, and it looked like every single other one you've been in. There were barracks especially prepared for members of the 141, but the gym and mess room was shared with the rest of the base. All the rooms were the same, and there was a common room with a TV, a small kitchen, a table, a sofa... is that a PlayStation?
After the introduction incident, things went quiet. Too quiet. It took you two days to notice that they were giving you the silent treatment. The concept was too ridiculous, and you really wanted to see inside their heads to see if they actually believed that by pretending you don't exist you would go away. I kinda wish it worked like that.
The first week, every time you crossed paths with them while going to your room, they didn't even look at you. Multiple incidents made you chuckle because of their absurdity. Like that time, you were resting in the common room, drinking tea on the sofa while you watched the Great British Bake Off and they would walk to the door, notice you were there and turn around in the spot.
Eating at an empty table was also a common occurrence, as they would gather in a table far away, talking between themselves. The portions here are huge, no wonder why they look like that.
The second week the passive-aggressiveness (and sometimes not so passive) came back. You were once in the kitchen making yourself a tea, waiting for the kettle to boil while listening to music, and you spotted Soap waiting for you to finish over your shoulder. Without giving it much thought while you hummed at the song, poured him a cup of simple black coffee from the coffee machine, and turned around, handing it to him.
"How do you know I take it black?" The Scot asked confused which made you turn again.
I stalked you and your team for the last eight months. But instead of saying that, you just offered him an innocent smile making him frown as he was probably realizing what you meant with that look.
"Fucking spy" He said glaring at you, but grabbed the cup you were offering, nonetheless. A small victory, I guess.
Another time, a few days later, you were walking to the training field for a drill.
"Who is this handsome boy?" You said in a cute tone, looking over the German shepherd wearing the military harness whose leash Soap was holding.
"Riley" Gaz answered plainly, and that made you glance at Ghost, arching your brow with an inquisitive look.
"Don't look at me, I didn't pick it" He answered before looking away.
"Then why...?" You were interrupted by the dog suddenly barking at you, making you flinch back. "Oh, I can see why.”
"Look! He knows you're a criminal. Such a good boy, Riley!" Soap said in a cute tone of his own, petting the dog and scratching his head to congratulate him.
Price insisted that as a group you should go to training and target practice together to strengthen the bond.
"What bond? They hate me" You answered in an exasperated tone the first time he said that.
"Can you blame them?" You rolled your eyes, after all, this started because you were following them around, intercepting their communications and basically invading their privacy and spoiling their missions.
"Well, technically no... but---"
"Then be patient."
That's all you were to them. A merc, a criminal, an intruder, a spy. The rest of the training went awful. They worked as a team, like clockwork, they already knew each other, their reactions, their positions...and you were just there, behind them. Fuck, I'm so dead.
Once it was over and Price announced that you were leaving for an off-the-records mission in a secluded island to retrieve drones that were stolen from an American Army convoy, before they hit the dark market. While in there, you were going to split into two teams, Soap and Ghost, and Gaz and you, to cover more ground and eliminate most of the hostiles.
Your nose was almost completely healed, only a bit sensitive and there were some fading bruises under your eyes still, but the gauze was removed a few days ago, and the nurses were the only ones that were kind to you, giving the first normal conversation you had since you arrived. After visiting the infirmary to get checked and get cleared to go back for duty, you went to the showers to freshen up after the training, and the warm water helped you consider your next course of action and to reflect that if you had to die in action, it wouldn't be because of them leaving you behind. You had to set your foot down.
It was lunch time, a nice opportunity to get them all together. As you enter the hall, you spot them already eating at their usual table. Your hair was down and still damp, leaving the back of your tank top slightly wet, you were wearing your tactical pants, and your heavy boots were loud under your determined pace as you marched to their table. As you were standing next to their table, they stopped talking and put down their food to look up at your standing figure.
"Corporal?" Gaz in an inquiring tone.
These are your superior officers now; you have to respect them...but you couldn't help the words coming out of your mouth as an exasperated rant.
"Listen, I don't care if you threaten me, I don't care if you call me a criminal, merc, spy or whatever the fuck you want to call me just to antagonize me. But I am here, and I will be here for five years, nothing we can do about it and believe me when I tell you I don't want this any more than any of you do. So, unfortunately I am stuck with you, and you are stuck with me." You said putting your hands down on the table, leaning in, their eyes are fixed on you, their faces stoic…however you noticed their eyes drifting from your face, subtle, but still evident. But you didn't let it faze you, as you kept going in the same firm tone. "And I couldn't care less if you run away from me like I am the bloody plague when you see me around the base. But once we are deployed, we are a team who have to trust each other and I won't be killed in action just because three soldiers wanted to play mean girls as if we are in fucking high school and if you want to bitch about it to someone go to Price, this was his call. All I can do is to kindly ask you if you could get off your own arses and be professional enough to complete the task and then you can go back to hate me.”
They don't say anything in return, eyes fixated on you, the tension could be cut with a knife, hanging thick in the air and you could feel the eyes of the other tables in the mess-hall burning in your back.
"Did I make myself clear?" You added in the same firm tone, knowing that you might be pushing your luck talking to them that way, and you see them exchange a look.
"Crystal clear, lass" Soap finally answered, and it sounded convincing enough to make you lean back, standing straight. Lass? That's a new one.
Without further to add, you returned back where you came from, their eyes following you as you left, and from the distance you heard them talking again.
You would be lying if you said there was not certain amount of anxiousness settling on your stomach as the day of the mission approach.
next chapter: Chapter four "C.R.O.W."

DannyMay Day 19 - No Backspace Challenge
Yup, this fic was completed without using the backspace key! So there will be mistakes, but I'm hoping I was able to incorporate the mistakes into the story ;)
Words: 3,858
Summary: Jack has finally caught Phantom! Except Maddie's out of town, and he's not that great with a scalpel. So how about studying him with the next best thing: an interview?

Today I finally did it! I, Jack Fenton, captured the menace known as Phantom! I might’ve accidentally spilled my drink over the backspace key on this keyboard and glitched it out in the process, but it’s a small price to pay to get a chance to examine the ghost boy! If I mess up, I’ll just strike it through. But I’m sure it won’t be to too much! Other than that mistake, at least.
So! How’d I capture him!? Turns out it was real simple! I just walked into the basement and he was there, standing in front of the portal! That’s one of the spots we have pop-up containment units installed, so all I had to do was jump on over to the computer and hit the button, and presto! One protoplasmic punk sealed up tight in a Fenton Containment and Observation Unit!
I might’ve gotten a little excited when I got to the button though. That’s how I spilled my drink. But like a I said, a small price to pay for this breakthrough!
The only problem was that Maddie and I have really wanted to dissent disect dissect Phantom, but I’m no good at actually going through ghost bodies and stuff (ha! Ghost pun!). That’s more Maddie’s stint. I’m the engineer! Bu But yeah, Maddie’s taken Jazz to visit a college this weekend, so it’s been a Fenton’s man weekend for the Fenton men! Without Maddie though, I can’t try and start peeking into Phantom. Especially because I think Maddie wants to try and keep him “alive” for further study (she has a theory about how he gets his ectoplasm apparently, a genius idea!).
But I’m Jack Fenton! I’m not gonna going to let an opportunity like this pass me buy by! There’s still plenty of ways I can get more info on him! Only question is what.
Maybe I’ll ask Danny. I know he doesn’t want anything to do with the family business, but he just doesn’t know he really is meant for it yet! And he’s a clever kid, even if his grades aren’t great. Maybe he can help me brainstorm some ideas - ooo, or maybe he’ll even be okay with helping me! It’s always great to have a lab partner, and I don’t want to take away from the girls’ special bonding time.

Well, I couldn’t get a hold of Danny, but Tucker called over and said the two of them were going to have a sleepover to work on a history project together. Believe me, I’m glad Danny-boy is taking the opportunity to improve his grades, but I’ll be honest, I’m kind of dissapo disappointed. I was hoping to get to bring him into the wonderful world of ghost hunting, have a little man-to-man bonding! Maybe next time.
I thought about what to do with Phantom over dinner. I’ve been trying to ignore him, because he keeps asking me when I’m going to let him go and stuff, so I just keep telling him I’ll let him go when I let him go. Weirdly enough, he got all quiet while I ate my dinner (I made sure to eat it in the lab to keep an eye on him and make sure he didn’t try anything slippery).
I’m not sure why I did, if I’m being honest, but I asked him what was up. One thing everyone knows about Phantom is that he’s not a quiet person at all - kid’s got a mouth that was born to run sass - so maybe I found his lack of talking uncharacteristic. It kind of made the whole lab feel eerie. We’d been bantering forth back and forth all afternoon, so the silence made me uncomfortable.
He looked surprised when I wasked asked him what was wrong. He definitely didn’t seem to want to answer me at first, but , but I guess his curiosity or something got the better of him, because he wanted to know what I was eating. I didn’t mind showing him, it was just leftover pasta from the other night, but the weird part was that he asked if he could have a little of it.
That one definitely threw me off a little. Everything Maddie andd and I have stuf studied has indicated that ghosts don’t eat; if anything, they “eat” ectoplams ectoplasm, which is why they have to live in the Ghost Zone. Our world doesn’t have enough ectoplasm in it to keep them sustained. Even if it’s a ghost who can “eta eat “eat” emotions from humans, they still have to go back to the Ghost Zone at some point to replenish on ectoplasm, since it’s the stuff that keeps them alive. Er, as alive as a ghost can get anyway.
So then why was Phantom asking to eat human fodo food? Maddie and I have theorized that H he’s one of the ghosts who can consume emoit emotions (see THEORIES), which is why he’s around so often and involves himself in ghost fights with high emotional energy environments. Maybe my emotions alone aren’t enough fo rhim for him? Or maybe they aren’t strong enough? Of course, that’s all assuming he’s the type who can “eat” emotions in the first place.
And even then, why ask to eat human food? Surely he knows that ghost bodies can’t process human food properly, otherwise we’d probably be seeing them eat it all the time. Could it be a leftover behavior from his time alive or something? Maybe he’s used to eating ectoplasmic constructs of human food.
I’ll admit that curis curiosity got the better of me, and I didn did end up giving him some of the pasta. Surprisingly enough, he did’ didn’t wolf it down, but he didn’t take his sweet time either. The way he ate was just very… normal. It struck me as very strange.
So I asked him why. Maybe I was being too blunt - people have told me that I am t too blunt before - but I can’t help it! I wasn want to learn as much as possible out about ghosts, especially if it helps me figure out better ways to keep them from r wreaking havoc in the human world.
It was weirder because he just kind of shrugged and told me he really likes chicken fettuccine. Didna’ Didn’t really offer up any other reason why he was eating food - human food that is. And when he ate it, it didn’t just come falling out of his stomach, like Maddie and I have figured is what happens when a ghost tries to eat human food.
The whole thing got me thinking. Phantom is the one ghost that we can’t pin down. He si seems to violate nearly every rule we’ve established when it g comes to ghosts and their behavior. The fact that he was happily slurping down my pasta was proof enough of that. And Maddie and I have a lot of questions about him and why and how he does the things he does. Questions that might not be answered by dissectiona dissection alone.
So why not just ask him? An interview would be the perfect way to study him!
Maddie n might not be the biggest fan of the idea - she’s definitely more the logical, observable facts kind of gal - but I don’t see the hamr harm done. She won’t be back for another two days, and like I said, I can’t take him apart without her. Might as well do something useful with the time, right?
Maybe I should look into building a Fenton Lie Detector. There’s no way I’ll let some slippery ghost pull the wool over my eyes!
(Also note to self: look into ordering a new keyboard tomorrow. I’m starting to get tired of having to strike through all my mistakes.)

It took all night, but I did it! The Fenton Lie Detector is a go!
Phantom was real curious about what I was up to for awhile, but around midnight or so, he fell asleep. Another thing to follow up on during our interview actually. Just like eating, ghosts js shouldn’t need to sleep, since they recharge their energy through ectoplasm and absorbing it. Plus, as far as we know, most ghosts can’t regenerate lost ectoplasm or body parts, not like a human can. Sleep is important to that regeneration process, so there’s no reason for a ghost to need sleep. I guess it just drives home the fact that Phantom is weirder than any other ghost we’ve studied.
Either way, it gave me some good peace and queit quiet to work on the Fenton Lie Detector. It wasn’t too difficult actually - I ended up repurposing the Fenton Ghost Gabber, since we found out it’s kind of redundant what with ghosts speaking human languages and such. So thankfully, a lot of the voice recording and storing as well as the processing work was already done, I just had to -
Oops, sorry! These are Phantom’s logs, right. I’ll make sure I write all this down in our invention logs though! I hope Maddie’s impressed with it!
Anyway, when Phantom woke up and started wondering what I was doing again, I finally told him. It was surprising because he actually seemed really interested in it. Said he even wanted to help me test it! Honestly I didn’t turn up my nose to that. Why would I give up on the chance to have a willing test subject? Even if they are just a piece of post-human consciousness embedded onto an ectoplasmic form.
I made sure to ask him simple questions that would be able to be obvious if he was lying about the answer or not, like his name and his hair color. The first one was a bit shaky, but the next one, when I asked if his hair was blue, went much smoother, thanks to a couple of little twew tweaks I made. All in all, the test was a smashing success!
I need to go eat breakfast before doing the actual interview, but there was something else that’s probably important to note. After Phantom helped me test it, I kind of set it to the side, but I didn’t turn it off. I started to write this log, and then it kind of hit me that I should ask why he was so willing to help me test it the Lid Lie Detector.
When I asked him, he told me that he was hoping it would give him a chance to prove to me once and for all that he’s been telling the truth this whole time. I’m not sure exactly what he meant or what he was reffer refi referring to in terms of telling the truth, but the important part is that I happened to look over to the Lie Detector, and it didn’t return with any red flags. Meaning Phantom was telling the truth about wanting to prove he’s been telling us the truth.
Whew! Kind of makes my head spin just writing it out.
That being said, I told him we’d do the interview after breakfast.
You know, now that I’m thinking about it, I wonder if Phantom would like my huevos rancheros?

LOGS:
I know the time is not going to read particularly accurate, since it’ll be the time I submit the log and not when I started writing it, but this is the official log of my interview with the ghost that goes by Danny Phantom. I admittedly didn’t write out my questions beforehand (I kind of got distracted with building the Fenton Lie Detector), so for future reference, these questions were all made up during the interview itself.
Question 1: Earlier, when you talked about proving you were telling the truth, why what did you mean by that?
Answer: (paraphrased) He talked about wanting to show me that he’s been telling the truth about wanting to protect the town and not being an evil ghost this whole time. He said he’s been trying to tell us for ages, ever since that first ghost invasion when he kidnapped the mayor. (Lie Detector results: no red flags)
Question 2: So you’re claiming you didn’t kidnap the mayor back then - what really happened?
Answer: (paraphrased) The way he told it was that the mayor was overshadowed by another ghost named Walker, who eh he’d gotten into trouble with some time before then. Supposedly, this Walker was looking to get revenge on Phantom by making him out to be the bad guy and turning the town against him. Thus he framed Phantom to make it look like he kidnapped the mayor. (Lie Detector results: no red flags)
Question 3: What about the crimes committed a couple months after that? The camera footage from then shows you explicitly stealing and destroying public property of your own free will.
Answer: (quoted) “Funny that you think it was of my own free will.” (paraphrased) He asked if I remembered the circus ringleader that had been caught masterminding all of the thefts in the first place. I did remember, though I didn’t tell him it was actually Danny and his friends who helped get the guy arrested. According to Phantom, the ringleader had some sort of ghostly artifact that allowed the person who controlled it to put ghosts under a state of mind control. In other words, he’d been forced to steal those things against his true will (Lie Detector results: no red flags)
Question 4: So why try to be the “good guy” in the first place? Why try to fight against your own kind for a town of humans?
Answer: (paraphrased) He claims to have some sort of innate need to protect the defenseless and offer his help to those in need. He also said it’s not something he limits to humans; if there are ghosts in danger, he’ll do his best to protect them too. When pressed further about this “innate need,” he explained that most ghosts have something like that that drives them and forms a big part of their identity. Apparently, these “obsessions” (his word) can even stem from something the they’d held high value in before they died. When asked where his need to protect came from, he claimed he didn’t know. (Lie Detector results: some red flags marked during the last answer; otherwise no red flags)
Question 5: Do you remember how you died?
Answer: (quoted) “Yes.” (no clarification offered) (Lie Detector results: no red flags)
Question 6: How did you t die then?
Answer: (parahp paraphrased) He did not answer this right away. I’m not sure why. He seemed to kind of be thinking about this answer more. Eventually, he said he died from electrocution, but he refused to give up any more details (Lie Detector results: significant red flags indicated)
Question 7: How old of a ghost are you?
Answer: (paraphrased) He told me he’d basically become a ghost right after he died, which was three or four months before he was framed for kidnapping the mayor (Lie Detector results: no red flas flags; NOTE TO SELF: re-evaluate this answer because of discrepancies between age and power level)
Question 8: So because you’re a fairly young ghost, is that why you eat human food still?
Answer: (paraphrased) He answered yes to this and said it helps remind him of what it was like to be alive. He also said it helps fill the “pa phantom phantom” of his stomach, and he laughed at his own joke. I might’ve laughed a little bit too, I do appreciate a good play on words! (Lie Detector results: significant red flags indicated)
Question 9: Is that why you sleep too?
Answer: (paraphrased) He explained that ghosts can sleep, despite popular belief. It might not serve the same purposes as it does for a human, but it can still be beneficial for regulating the purity of bodily ex ectoplasm and allowing the mind to process things. He even told me that there’s a ghost of dreams who will travel around and “harvest” dreams from both ghosts and humans. (Lie Detector results: minor red flags indicated)
Question 10: How often do you sleep then?
Answer: (quoted) “Not as much as I’d like to, especially when some jef jerk of a ghost decides to wake him up in the mi me up in the middle of the night.” (Lie Detector results: no red fal flags)
Question 11: How do you even know where the ghosts are? You always seem to show up before anyone else, like even before our detectors can pick stuff up.
Question Answer: (paraphrased) He told me he has something he calls a “ghost sense” that basically alerts him to a ghost’s presence if it’s within a certain range, though he doesn’t know how far that range reaches. He also said that sometimes he can feel or pick out the ectosignatures of powerful ghosts and use them to help pinpoint their location (Lie Detector results: no red flags)
Question 12: Do you know why so many ghosts seem to show up at the high school?
Answer: (paraphrased) He claimed he didn’t know, though he wondered if it had something to do with the teenagers being easy targets for ghosts or easy sources of emotional energy. He admitted sometimes he hangs around the high school since he knows it’s such a hotspot for ghost activity. (Lie Detector results: moderate red flags indicated towards the beginning of the answer; minor red flags indicated throughout)
Question 13: Is that why so many of the teenagers seem to think you’re the hero? Because you hang around the high school?
Answer: (quoted) “I’m not mind-controlling them, if that’s what you think. Teenagers think superheroes are g cool, sue me.” (Lie Detector results: no red flags)
Question 14: Do you see yourself as a superhero then?
Answer: (paraphrased) He hesitated on this one again. I almost gave up on getting an answer out of him for this one when he finally said he’s not exactly sure how he sees himself. He went on and on about how he’s been called a lot of different things by a lot of different people but he wouldn’t go into detail about them. (quoted) “All I’m trying to do is the right thing. I don’t know what that makes me, but I promise I’m just trying to help.” (Lie Detector results: minor red flags during first part of answer: ; no red flags during second part)
Question 15: If all you’re trying to do is the right thing, then why act so elusive and secretive and mysterious? No one can seem to pin you down or get a true read on you, since you usually come into and out of ghost fights so quickly.
Answer: (quoted) “Sometimes I wonder if I made the right choice. I’m getting tired of keeping secrets. Especially from…” [answer cut off before he finished] (Lie Detector results: no red flags)
**NOTE TO SELF: What does he mean be by that? What choice is he talking about? And why is the Lie Detector saying he is telling the truth when he seems so nervouc nervous? He waited so long before saying that, is it really the truth?
I’m not done with the interview yet, I still have a tone ton of questions, but I’m going ahead and saving and submitting this while I go answer the door. Wouln Wouldn’t want to lose all this valuable work!

LOGS:
Alright, starting today, I’m making a new rule: no non-Fenton personnel in the lab unless they’re previously authorized!
Sorry, I’m just upset. I know Sam didn’t mean to, but this is a huge loss for us. I should’ve had her come with me when she asked me if I could help find one of Danny’s textbooks, but she offered to look in the lab while I looked in his room and it seemed like an okay arrangement at the time!
The long and short of it is Phantom is gone. She accidentally hit the release when she was looking around, and of course that punk took the first chance he had to run - er. Fly, anyway.
I wasn’t even done with the interview! That last question I asked, I wasn’t expecting his answer at all. It brought up at least five other questions! And now my mind is racing, I can’t get it off of what he said. It just has me so confused.
I won’t lie - what with the Lie Detector, he acut actually had me believing him. For the first time, I was starting to believe that he was telling us the truth about being the hero - that he’s been playing the part of the hero this whole time. Not even playing the part, like actually trying to save people!
So if his goal is to get me and Maddie to see him that way, why would he run? He seemed so eager to try and help me understand his side of things before.
I just heard Danny come in the door. I should probably go check in on him; it’s not like I have anything else down here I need to worry about.
Wait, that probably sounded really rude. I’m sorry Danny! You’re way more important than any ghost, I promise son.
Before I submit this, I’m just saying this for futuer future me: maybe don’t show this to Maddie. She’ll see it eventually of course, since we both have access to these logs, but I don’t think I’m going to tell her right away. I need time to go through the responses that I did get and re-evaluate the Fenton Lie Detector logs. Not that I don’t trust her, of o course! Maddie is my everything.
But this whole Phantom mystery, I think it’s something I need to figure out for myself first.

Chapter 10!
Steve Harrington: Vampire Hunter
ao3 link
Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9
Eddie woke in the dark.
He rose with the knowledge that he was free, no longer feeling the psychic weight of the heavy chains laden with crosses that had been trapping him inside this forsaken box for far too long.
It could only mean one thing.
Steve had done it. He had succeeded in defeating Billy, and managed to free Eddie and his people from their torment at his hands. He only hoped their side hadn’t paid too high a price for the victory.
Eddie had called a handful of different vampires Master over the years. By no means was Billy the worst, but it was as if the older he got, the less patience he had for taking orders from morally reprehensible leaders.
This was his chance, he could feel it. The longer he was away from France, the more powerful he could feel himself becoming. He had theorized that the vampire who turned him, the one he’d served under for longer than any other, had been somehow dampening his power. It seemed he might  finally have his confirmation.
He knew he would fare best if he could convince Steve to join him, to take on the last two marks and become his human servant for real, but he would not force him. He wanted Steve to offer himself up willingly. For them to unite because it was what they both wanted.
Eddie had always been pretty, even by vampiric standards. A fact that led to him being passed around as no better than a piece of meat to anyone his master wished to curry favor with. He knew what it was to be forced, to be violated, and he would not do that to others if he had a choice.
He had already made mistakes with Steve. Though he had his reasons for doing what he had, giving the first mark to save Steve's life, and the second mark to save his own, Eddie knew no matter how good his excuses were, he was on a slippery slope. The road to Hell being paved with good intentions, and all that. He would go no further with their bond without Steve’s consent. He would wait. He could be patient, no matter how long it took to earn the other man’s trust.
He pushed up to open the lid of his coffin and climbed out, and If he had any say in the matter, it would be the last time he would ever set foot in one of them again. It was such an outdated concept in his opinion. A necessity for some, sure, but they were underground here. Well below street level, deep under the theater with no windows or doors that opened directly to the outside. There was simply no reason for the vampires who lived here to spend their days in a light proof box.
The first thing Eddie noticed as he surveyed the room was the smell of bleach. That told him, as much as anything else, that whatever had happened here was over, and the cleanup was already well underway. He noted, with a glance, that all of the other caskets were open, and empty, save for one. A modern model that sat just on the other side of Billy's abandoned ancient coffin.
Dustin.
Eddie stepped up to the box, hurriedly opened the lid, and let out a sigh of relief. The young boy was just fine. Dead to the world for now, and would be until the sun had set completely, but fine.
He smiled fondly as he looked down at Dustin’s sleeping form, noticing for the first time that the kid had taped photos all over the inside of his coffin. Eddie chuckled, it was a very Dustin thing to do. He didn’t recognize most of the people in the pictures of course, though the one face he did recognize was in nearly every single one. Steve.
He felt silly suddenly for having been so worried. Of course Dustin was okay. The boy might be in Eddie’s care now, but long before that he was Steve’s charge.
From day one the kid had talked about his old babysitter ad nauseam. Only to Eddie, though. Dustin wasn’t stupid, he figured out pretty quickly who to trust, and who to keep his head down around. Truth be told, Eddie didn’t mind being the kid’s sounding board.
Within 6 months of Dustin's transition, Eddie felt like he knew everything there was to know about the intriguing figure called Steve Harrington. He’d fallen half in love just listening to Dustin's stories. When he did finally set eyes on Steve in the flesh, the first time he’d come calling with the police, Eddie knew he was a goner.
Normally, he wouldn’t have even considered pursuing a human in such a way. It was far too dangerous in his world to hold a mere mortal so close, but once he got that first taste of Steve’s power, he couldn’t help thinking that maybe, just maybe, this one could handle it.
Eddie was undeterred by the fact that they were natural enemies. Steve was a vampire hunter and executioner, after all, but it was nothing they couldn't overcome. No relationship was perfect.
He knew that Steve wanted him too, he’d smelled it, that reluctant desire, at their first meeting. He was stuck somewhere between denial and playing the worst game of hard-to-get ever, but Eddie was sure it was only a matter of time before Steve would stop lying to himself about his true feelings.
Eddie stepped away, leaving the top to Dustin's coffin open so he would know he was free.  He would need to look at a clock to be sure, but he guessed that it was mid-afternoon. Eddie had been waking earlier and earlier these days, another sign of his growing power, but it would be at least a few hours before the younger vampire woke.
The sound of voices off in the distance interrupted Eddie’s thoughts. Whoever it was sounded calm, relaxed even, so he wasn’t too concerned, but he still ventured out into the hall cautiously, not taking any chances in case he was wrong.
He found his guests gathered in the lowest room of the compound, the one Billy had liked to call the dungeon. He was greeted by three overgrown rats, and a small but tough looking woman with dark hair.
Palms raised, Eddie approached the darkest of the wereanimals, recognizing Gareth in his rat form. They weren’t friends, but Eddie had made it clear from the beginning that he was no big fan of Billy, so he’d earned a little of the rats' respect.
“You’re up early.” The wererat king commented casually. “I didn’t think you had that kind of power.”
Eddie shrugged. “What can I say, I'm full of surprises.” He didn’t sense any hostility from Gareth, so he lowered his hands. “Mind filling me in on what I missed while I was indisposed?”
“I’m afraid I can't give you many details, Munson. I helped your Steve and a woman to get in early this morning through our passageways, but then we had to keep our distance until Billy had been taken care of.” Gareth explained.
“He’s not my Steve, not yet anyway.” The vampire clarified. He didn’t want Steve to hear even a rumor that Eddie was claiming him as his property. “So it’s true then?”
The wererat nodded, or at least gave the closest approximation to a nod as he could in his current form. “Yes. Billy and his servant Heather are dead, as well as his scumbag of a father, and anyone else who was known to support him. Also, it turns out the animator, Martin Brenner, was the one killing vampires. He’s been disposed of as well.”
“Good.” Eddie declared. “Thank you for all your help. How can I repay you?” He asked.
Gareth’s whiskers twitched as he considered how to respond. “I don’t want to sound like an asshole, but we didn’t do this for you, or for Steve. We just wanted out from under the master’s thumb. As long as you don’t have rats as your animal-to-call, we’re square.”
“I think you’re safe from me.” Eddie smiled. “I have never felt a particular affinity with your kind.”
Then he had a thought.
“I do wonder though, if your people would be willing to work for me for a time. I’d pay you, of course, and extend any protections I have to give. I’ll need to fill this place out again. We lost a lot of vampires to the murders even before this. There are a few of my followers scattered through the city, those that chose not to live with the master, but our numbers are small. I’m going to have to bring in some outsiders to fill out the ranks. I could use some security in the process.”
Gareth was quiet for a long time, and Eddie was sure he’d gone too far, but then the rat-king gave that funny looking nod again. “I think we could work something out, Eddie, as long as my people are employees and not slaves.”
“Of course.”
Eddie watched as the small group scurried one by one back through the hole, leaving the way they’d come, with Gareth taking up the rear. The rat-king paused before replacing the grate, taking one last look back at the vampire.
“You should know.” Gareth began. “I don’t think Harrington meant for me to overhear, but you know sometimes with our abilities it’s hard to avoid eavesdropping, and the girl was under your protection, I believe, so..”
“Spit it out, man.” Eddie said.
“Chrissy is dead.”
Eddie’s stomach dropped. He grit his teeth, willing himself to maintain some decorum, and not show weakness in front of his new ally. He gave a solemn nod in acknowledgement of the information ,and walked away as soon as Gareth had disappeared into the dark.
He held it together until he reached the coffin room, nothing more to do for now except wait for Dustin to wake up so he could find out what the hell had happened.
Eddie fell to his knees in the center of the room, face twisted in pain as a sob was torn out of his chest. He pounded hard on the concrete floor until his fists were bloody, and he worried he would crack the hard surface.
He jumped up, grabbing the nearest casket with two hands and hurling it at the wall. It hit with a satisfying crack, hard enough to splinter the wood into dozens of pieces. He repeated the process with every box in the room, saving Billy’s for last.
He knew Billy had killed her. Even without knowing any of the details, that much he was sure of. He broke Billy's coffin apart with his bare hands, snapping it one piece at a time until it was nothing but a pile of kindling.
As a vampire, Eddie had no need to draw breath except to speak, but he knew if he was human his chest would be heaving, heart pounding with the exertion. He didn’t often miss those things, but in that moment he would have given anything to feel the abuse he was putting his body through, because he deserved it. He deserved the pain. Deserved to be punished. Though others may have been responsible for actually ending Chrissy’s life, he blamed himself most of all.
Eddie sat in the corner of the room, back against the wall, curled in on himself as he cried for his dead friend whom he had loved so much. He was too busy wallowing in his guilt to hear it when Dustin clambered out of his coffin, and too distracted by his own anguish to notice the boy moving closer.
He startled when a hand latched onto his arm. He reared back, hissing in alarm as he looked up into a set of wide concerned eyes.
“What’s wrong?” Dustin asked in a panic. “Is it…did something happen to Steve?”
Eddie wiped at his eyes and tried to blink back any remaining tears as he cleared his throat. He must have been sitting there for hours and not realized. He hadn’t meant for the kid to see him like that.
“Not Steve. Chrissy. She’s dead.”  Eddie managed to say, pushing himself to his feet before continuing. “Do you know what happened?”
He fought to keep his voice even. He was so angry. At Billy, at the world in general, at himself, but he would not put this on Dustin. He just wanted to know the truth.
Dustin’s face fell, eyes shining with sympathy. He may not have known Chrissy that well, but he knew how close she and Eddie had been. “Neil took her from the club. I’m sorry, but that’s all I really know. As soon as I realized what was happening I called Steve for help, but Billy caught me and threw me in my coffin before he got here.”
“It’s okay.” Eddie murmured. It seemed if he wanted real answers, he would have to talk to Steve.
“What happened in here, and why are we free?” Dustin asked.
“The mess is my fault, I might have taken my anger out on the furniture. As far as the rest, it turns out your old babysitter is apparently just as badass as you always made him out to be. I was told he and some woman came in here and took care of everything. It’s over.”
Dustin grinned. “Oh! That'd be Nancy.”
Eddie rolled his hand, making the universal gesture for, ‘please tell me more about this human woman who the object of my affection trusts enough to fight with him side by side.'
“She’s the sister of a childhood friend.  She’s a vampire hunter too. I think her and Steve used to date or something. They work together sometimes. I hear she’s really good.”
“Good for her.” Eddie seethed. It was true that he had no real claim on Steve, no right to be jealous, but that didn’t change the fact that he was.
-
Later that night, Eddie sat in his office at Guilty Pleasures, waiting for the hour to grow late enough that Steve would be asleep. He’d considered having Dustin reach out to him instead, to set up a meeting of some kind where he could hear the full story of what had happened, and maybe start to repair things between the two of them, but he didn’t want the kid to feel like he was caught in the middle.
Eddie felt it when Steve slipped off to sleep. He wasn’t sure he would, but he supposed it was hard to keep your guard up when you’re trying to drift off. It was a subtle thing, a split second where his entire body relaxed, mirroring what Steve was feeling, wherever he might be.
Eddie locked the office door and laid himself out on the crimson couch, the same one Steve had rested upon not too long ago, if Jeff were to be believed. He closed his eyes and turned his attention inwards towards the bond.
Steve’s mind felt so different once he slipped into slumber, it was like the walls he’d built to keep Eddie from getting too close became softer, more flexible, and if he pushed hard enough and in just the right spot he could get through.
Things were different now, though. Before, Steve had been aware, at least on some level, that he was dreaming when he was with Eddie, but now he knew that it was real. That Eddie was himself in their dreams and not some figment of Steve’s imagination. Now he knew he could keep Eddie out if he wanted to.
He approached Steve's mental barrier slowly, calmly, trying to project an air of, ‘I come in peace’. He gently caressed the wall with a metaphorical hand, and was pleasantly surprised when it vanished beneath his touch. Steve was going to let him in.
He materialized in the corner of Steve’s bedroom, the same setting as their last shared dream, foregoing the bed this time in an effort to make Steve more comfortable. It was a good choice, considering Steve himself was pacing a hole in the floor, tense even at rest.
“Are you alright?” Eddie asked, walking slowly towards the other man.
Steve’s head snapped up, furious eyes boring holes into the vampire’s own as he ignored the question. He rounded on Eddie aggressively. “What do you want?!”
It stopped Eddie in his tracks. He had expected to be greeted with some level of anger. He’d thought he was prepared to take it, and to apologize, but the rage radiating off of Steve was far beyond anything he’d anticipated. It threw him off kilter. He was immediately defensive and felt himself wanting to respond in kind. Had he wronged Steve to an extent? Maybe, but what right did he have to react this intensely when they hadn’t even talked about things yet!
Eddie smoothed his face out into a blank mask. “I wanted to congratulate you on your victory, of course. I knew you could do it.” He said, beginning to stalk a very slow circle around Steve.
He knew it was the wrong thing to say, and wasn’t what he had planned to open with at all.
“Fuck you.” Steve spat.
“Ooh. Touchy, touchy.” Eddie's face split into a wide grin as he held his hands up.
He hated himself even as he mocked Steve for his fury. He should have had sympathy for the man, and he did, but Eddie found that he was angry too.
“Yeah you’d be touchy too if someone forced themselves on you like this.”
Eddie didn’t know whether Steve meant the dreams or the marks, but it hardly mattered, the implication was the same. He saw red. This human had no idea what Eddie had been through over the course of his very long life. If he had even the slightest inclination he would never have accused him of such a heinous crime.
He continued to pace his circuit as he sneered. “Don't stand there and act like I've stolen your virtue. I gave you a GIFT!”
“You would see it as a gift to be tied to you for eternity!” Steve spouted.
Eddie halted his movements, facing the other man head on. “That’s not what I mean and you know it.”
Steve didn’t back down, in fact he stepped into Eddie as he taunted him, “Sure it’s not.”
Eddie took a step in as well, his anger propelling him closer. “I saved your life!” He shouted.
Steve moved again. They were practically nose to nose as he said, “Yea, and I'm so grateful, considering you did it just so you could use me to kill your enemies.”
“Do you really think so little of me?” Eddie asked.
Steve's eyes were glued to Eddie’s lips as he spoke. But he quickly looked away when he realized what he was doing.
“If the shoe fits, princess.” Steve was trying to be snarky but it just came out breathless.
Eddie squeezed his eyes shut, struggling to think when his body was this close to Steve’s. Even as they raged at each other, he had never wanted someone more.
“Fuck you.” Eddie said through tight lips.
“No thanks.”
Eddie growled in frustration. “Just tell me what happened to Chrissy, and I'll leave.”
He had hoped to hear the whole story of Billy's downfall but it was clear that Steve had very limited patience for him at the moment. Which was fine. At the end of the day, it didn’t matter how it all went down, Billy was dead, and they were alive, but Eddie needed to know what happened to his girl.
Steve stepped back abruptly, so much so that he almost stumbled. It took everything Eddie had not to spirit to his side to steady him. It’s not as though Steve could be hurt, it was only a dream after all, but the instinct was hard to tamp down.
Steve stared off, lost for a minute in his own thoughts.
Eddie tried again. “Dustin said she was taken and that he called you for help. I know she didn’t..make it, but you are the only person left alive who saw what happened.”
“Why do you care?”
The question hit Eddie like a punch in the gut. Why did he care? “She was my friend, Steve, and she was under my protection. I never thought…”
“No you didn’t think.” Steve snapped. “You just had to go and piss your boss off and get yourself thrown in that damn coffin, leaving her with no one to look after her!”
The accusation drained all of the fight out of Eddie. He couldn’t argue with what Steve had said. He wasn’t even angry anymore, just sad.
“You were there for her.” Eddie said, softly.
“As much as she’d let me.” Steve admitted, deflating a little. “I should have tried harder.”
That’s when Eddie finally saw it, the guilt Steve was carrying for Chrissy’s loss. “It’s not your fault, Steve.”
Eddie wanted to reach out, to hold him and tell him there was nothing he could have done. Why were they fighting when they could mourn together? But then Steve’s eyes flashed with that rage again.
“No. it’s yours.”
Eddie sighed. “I know.”
There didn’t seem to be anything more to say to each other after that. He couldn’t keep pushing, if Steve didn’t want to talk about it, he'd have to accept that.
Eddie didn’t know what Steve wanted from him, or how to move on from here. Maybe they just needed some time. He turned away, about to step out of the dream when Steve spoke again.
“Eddie?”
“Hm?”
“I know there's no way to reverse this thing between us, but I want…” Steve paused and blew out a long breath. “I need you to stay away from me.”
“Okay, Steve. If that’s really what you want. You know where to find me if you ever change your mind.”
“I won’t”
Tumblr media
A few months had passed since Steve went toe to toe against Billy and won, with Nancy’s help and the wererats, of course.  He hadn’t seen or heard from Eddie again after that first night, when the vampire had visited his dreams for the last time to ask about Chrissy.
Steve was still mad, and he still didn’t want anything to do with the guy or his damn marks, but with a little distance he was starting to think that maybe he’d been a little too harsh. It hadn’t been fair to blame Eddie for Chrissy’s death.
Nancy had left town without a word a few days after the fight. It wasn’t anything out of the ordinary and Steve didn’t take it personally. They weren’t the type of friends who kept in touch on a regular basis. He knew she’d come back around the next time she had a job in the city, and until then she was more than capable of taking care of herself.
Going back to work had been rough. He couldn’t exactly tell Bert, his boss and father, why he’d been out of touch. He and Nancy hadn’t had an order of execution for Billy. Technically, it was murder, though it wasn’t likely that anyone would ever find out what they’d done. No one outside of the monster community had really known the master’s identity, and it’s not as if any of the remaining vamps or wereanimals would report him missing. There would never be an investigation.
So, his dad was ON HIS ASS.
He gave Steve an ultimatum. Start showing up for work consistently again, or you're fired. He was pretty sure it was an empty threat, it’s not like there were other animators lining up to take his job, but Steve needed the money, and so he re-committed himself to his career. Thanks to his new drive, and a slight downturn in supernatural crime, he had managed to not miss a single night that he was scheduled.
Steve spent what few evenings he had off with Dustin, their rekindled friendship the one good thing to come out of this whole mess. It was nice getting to know him again. They couldn’t just go out and grab dinner casually, with Dustin being what he now was, so they got creative. Late night movies, rounds of pool at a local dive bar, and bowling; which they were both terrible at. It didn't matter in the slightest though, because they would laugh at each other until their sides hurt, and it was so much fun. They never talked about Eddie.
His days were spent with Robin. If Steve wasn’t sleeping, they were together. She had decided that the best thing for all of his woes and problems was to keep busy. She even stopped complaining about their work out sessions, which was terrifying and occasionally made him think he wasn’t doing a good enough job at hiding how much he was struggling. It was the only explanation for her going on a jog with him, willingly.
Robin had asked about Eddie only once, the morning after his final dream with the vampire. She’d slept over that night and he woke up in her arms. She held him while he cried, and said he didn’t want to talk about it. She never brought it up again.
-
Steve was just getting out of the shower when his phone rang. He hastily wrapped a towel around his waist and ran for his bedroom to grab it. He was late to pick up Robin, they had plans to meet Dustin downtown together, and he had no doubt it was her calling to make sure he was alive. She worried too much. But so did he, hence the running.
“Hey, Sorry Ro…”
“Are you watching this?” She interrupted.
“Watching what?”
She exhaled loudly into the phone. “The news, Steve! Turn your T.V. on, right now.”
He did, switching the channel over to their local CNN affiliate, one of the few networks that didn’t cater to ring-wing crazies. It was a live feed, a crowd of reporters sat in rows like an audience in a large open space. It looked like the ballroom at the Conrad hotel, if Steve had to guess. Apart from the fact that scattered amongst the crowd was a slightly bigger police presence than would seem necessary, it looked like your average press conference.
“What am I looking at here, Robs?”
She shushed him, muttering, “Just watch.”
The live feed switched momentarily to a view of the podium, Mayor Kline stood nervously to one side of it, smiling tightly amid the odd camera flash when one was pointed his way.
A hush fell suddenly over the room, it must have been nearly time for whoever was about to address the crowd to arrive.
The camera angle changed again, and flashbulbs all around the room began to go off at a quickened pace. The picture finally settled on a set of double doors, just in time to catch Eddie Munson entering the room. The vampire paused in the open doorway, smiling for pictures for a beat or two before making his way up to the microphone.
Steve dropped his phone, letting it fall to the floor with a loud clatter as he gaped at the television. That’s when he finally noticed the news ticker running along the bottom of the screen.
:Master of the City of Indianapolis comes out of the coffin:
When Eddie reached his place at the podium the heading changed.
:Vampire and local business owner Eddie Munson reveals his identity as Master of the City:
Steve scrambled to pick up his cell, managing to get it to his ear as Robin asked,
“Did you know about this?”
He shook his head, answering out loud once he realized she couldn't see him. “No, Rob. I mean, I knew he was powerful but I didn’t realize...”
“You basically put him on the throne.”
“I know.” He said, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Do you think… was this his plan all along?” She asked.
Steve didn’t respond. It was exactly what he had accused the vampire of months ago. He just didn’t know, and did it matter? His head was spinning and his heart raced. He couldn’t help the feeling that Eddie had just drawn a giant target on his back.
Not that he cared what happened to the guy.
Did he?
No, he was just in shock. He hadn’t thought about what would happen after he killed Billy, effectively leaving behind a power vacuum in the city. He’d been so intent on ignoring all things vampire, apart from Dustin, that he hadn’t let himself consider the possibilities.
“Steve?”
He could hear Robin distantly saying his name but he was too caught up in his thoughts.
Why hadn’t Dustin said anything? How could he let Steve get caught off guard like this? No. That wasn’t fair. The kid was only doing what he had asked by not talking about vampire business, and Eddie in particular.
Steve sighed. He had no one to blame but himself for not knowing. He wasn’t sure if this was good new or bad news. Either way, it’s not like there was anything he could do about it now even if…
“STEVE?!” Robin shouted.
He shook himself, staring back at the tv where Eddie had finally started addressing the room full of reporters.
“Sorry Rob, I uh, I gotta go. I’ll call you tomorrow.”
Steve hung up quickly before she could convince him to go through with their plans, or offer to come over. He wanted to be alone. He wasn’t going anywhere that night, and he certainly wasn’t up for facing Dustin in the midst of it all.
He sat on the edge of his bed, still dressed in only a towel, and turned the volume on the tv up, bracing himself to listen to Eddie’s speech.
“Good evening. My name is Eddie Munson and I am the master of the city of Indianapolis. You may be surprised that I have come to you like this. It is rare for one of my kind to be so publicly open about their identity and the role in which they play within the vampire community. What I will say to you is this; I think it is far past time for the vampires in this country to step into the light and claim our position alongside our fellow Americans.  Two years ago the United States voted in favor of giving vampires legal status. With that came many things, including the right to live without worry that we would be hunted down like dogs for simply being what we are; without crime and without cause.  Regardless of these strides, most of my people still hide. They live in the shadows, many ashamed of their basic nature. That is why I have chosen to reveal myself, and my position. I can only hope my actions will inspire others to come forward and take their place in full view of society, instead of continuing to be its dirty little secret. Let this be the start of a new age of vampire history and politics. I won’t lie to you and tell you that things will be easy. There are bad vampires in the world, just as there are bad humans, but I can promise that the overwhelming majority of vampires wish nothing more than to live alongside you in peace.”
It was groundbreaking. No vampire had ever addressed the general public quite like this, broadcast right into people's homes. Even Jason Carver, the closest thing to a vampire public figure that had existed till now, had never allowed himself to be filmed. You had to visit the center if you wanted to see him or hear him speak.
Eddie took questions for over an hour following his speech. Steve knew he should shut it off, or leave the room, but he couldn’t bring himself to look away. He couldn’t help feeling like everything was about to change. For himself, for his city, maybe even for the country at large. He just hoped he was ready for whatever came next.

Post war Scene where Sasuke and Gaara have a moment alone and Sasuke takes the chance to thank Gaara for defending him from the other Kage when he had attacked the summit way back. Gaara tells him that he’d only done it because Sasuke was important to Naruto. But he also admits that after the incident, he had approached Naruto to talk about the real possibility of him having to kill Sasuke himself but Sasuke isn’t offended. Instead he thanks Gaara again for being a good friend to Naruto and especially for taking a stance to protect Naruto and being instrumental in getting the other kages to unite and do the same. Sasuke admits that while he is glad that Naruto never gave up on him, he himself would have told Naruto the same thing Gaara did about needing to let Sasuke go because he knows how much pain he’d caused his best friend because of his actions.
Then they both have a moment where they ruminate how Naruto had effected both their lives. Gaara telling Sasuke that Naruto cared for the Uchiha deeply and there’s this very wistful undertone to his words and Sasuke understands the secret being shared by the Kazekage even without the man putting it into words. Sasuke verbally acknowledges what Gaara is saying but the man gets frustrated because he doesn’t feel like Sasuke is comprehending what he’s saying. He repeats that Naruto cares about the Uchiha deeply, but also notes how having the past that he did, it will be difficult for Naruto to narrow down what those emotions mean and how they’re different than other kinds of caring and if Sasuke didn’t do something and make a move to ‘fix’ that misunderstanding, he’s gonna lose Naruto forever because there are a lot of other people who are more than eager to take his place should he be too slow to fill it. Because really, Naruto deserves to know how intimately and dearly he is loved.
Honestly I just want these two to bond over their mutual love for Naruto

Why do I love Karin
Why do some fans of Sasuke devalue Karin and relay her to a comical background in the book?
First of all, your preferences are right to like Karin as a character or not, but to put down and devalue Karin to make Sakura shine instead does not serve Sakura as a character in any way.
I've read a lot of posts that devalued Karin as a kunoichi, as a woman and even the place she got in Sasuke's life, and whether you like it or not Karin was a full part of Sasuke's life as Kishimoto shows us several times.
The question I always wondered here is why Karin was introduced to be a character with such a great importance to be then reduced to Sasuke's old friend... Understand us here, as much as fans of the saga fight to defend the SNS in Kishimoto's book, the SasuKarin gets a significant place in the manga as well and Kishimoto left nothing to chance.
First, here are some canonical facts about Sasuke and Karin that are non-negligible:
- Karin is the kunoichi that Sasuke recognized and rated as the most powerful one he knew.
- Karin and her red hair as does every other canonical member of the Uzumaki clan, what was the main point here of implying that Karin was a member of that clan if not for Sasuke's interest in the Uzumaki clan itself with Naruto already.
-Sasuke always took care of Karin during their expeditions with the Hebi team and even more during the moments of the Taka team and I don't think here that he was taking care of her because he recognized her weakness, even if it is real to admit that Karin is not an offensive ninja but rather occupies a healer position. Beside that, it is not negligible also to underline that Sasuke had the faculty to regenerate his chakra much more quickly since the absorption of Orochimaru.
- Sasuke developed a new power from his MS for her and only for her. Canonically, we learn how the Sharingan works thanks to the expert of the Uchiha, Tobirama Senju. He explains that the loss of a loved one influences in the brain of the members of the Uchiha clan a surprisingly powerful chakra flow and then comes into conjunction with the optic nerves and thus unleashes the Sharingan, in other words, the eyes that reflect the feelings of the heart. So for Sasuke to be physically able to trigger such a power to save Karin, it is that he is canonically attached to her, whether it is simple friendship to a more powerful bond. In any case, a powerful bond unites them.
- Sasuke loves tomatoes and the color red, I let you guess who has red hair and the cold-bloodedness worthy of Kushina Uzumaki...well ok this one was rather a fun fact than an important canonical fact but still.
If you have never read the manifesto that Skania wrote about SasuKarin, read it, it is a pure gem of an analysis and no lies were used to support the facts, everything is only based on the canon of history.
Several other characters also talk about the Sasukarin and yes Sasukarin is not just a figment of our imagination...
For example: Suigestu loves to make fun of Karin's feelings for Sasuke because he knew how to see the true side of Karin tsundere.
He mentions at one point that
his passion is to cut things in two
and of course, this refers to the fact that he is one of the last swordsmen of the mist and for Samehada but
it also refers to Sasuke and Karin...
that he tries to annoy so that the two never have the opportunity to link in any way. So it is possible to believe here that Suigestu himself admits that Sasuke and Karin could become one thing, a unity.
Obito or Tobi still at that time, insisted that he understood why Sasuke had chosen HER, and why he had acknowledged her as HIS FAVORITE.
I can immediately see Karin's haters, coming up and meaning "yes But Karin is just a fan girl just like Sakura" or "Sasuke also tried to kill Karin".. and to both I answer a NO.
Karin is far from being a fangirl of Sasuke or at least not at all like Sakura. These two women have absolutely different behavior towards Sasuke. Where Sakura doesn't put any limit when it comes to Sasuke, Karin knew how to put some,  after being stabbed by Sasuke, she agrees to end their collaboration on the spot and is not willing to forgive him without a valid apology. Beside that, I also refuse to say that Sakura behaves like a doormat in front of Sasuke, I think that Sasuke's cold attitude and his multiple reproaches made Sakura grow up and pushed her to give the best of herself in order to be able to catch up the gap drawn between her and her two companions of the team 7. But no, we are not here to talk about Sakura. Karin is literally the definition of a tsundere, meaning she is cold and rigid or even mean on the outside but tender and sweet on the inside. Moreover, she never lets herself be driven by her own feelings but tries to make herself as useful as possible to Sasuke in order to please him. I would mean that one thing that Sasuke and Karin also have in common is their love language. Indeed, both of them would be at first sight of the type: "acts of services" because yes to make happy the people who are dear to them, they both like to make themselves useful. Karin is aware that she has been chosen by Sasuke especially to help him, but this does not prevent her from often contradicting his plans or moralizing him on some points, and Sasuke, unlike the hard and cold Sasuke that we could know with Sakura or Naruto even with Suigetsu, never means anything very mean to Karin, he keeps his calm with her.
Then, yes Sasuke has officially stabbed Karin but all this remains to be taken with a pinch. First of all, he didn't attack Karin directly but Danzo, who after realizing that Sasuke's hatred would eventually cause his loss, took Karin in a last strategic move in order to test Sasuke's will to end it all for good (the guy really has no scruples about anything). So he imposed a difficult choice to Sasuke, the one to choose between his reason and his ultimate goal to get revenge. I remind you that at this moment, even Karin didn't recognize him anymore and meant that he was now totally consumed by hate.
Sasuke's face during this event, tells a lot of things, I'm not sure that having to impale Karin with a chidori made him happy because Karin was never a target for him, quite the contrary, while he spent many moments watching her back and saving her life. But if you pay attention to the details, on the first panel, Sasuke tells Karin not to move, and on the second panel Sasuke throws his chidori sword to stab Danzo and hit him at a vital point but not Karin because Karin being smaller than him, he only stabbed her through and through but didn't hit any vital point concerning Karin so his goal despite his express need of revenge against Danzo for destroying his life, he didn't want to sacrifice Karin Because yes the word "SACRIFICE" has an important place in this part of the manga (I will certainly make a post about it)
Just look at his death glare:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Karin, after having been indirectly attacked, falls to the ground, exhausted from having healed Sasuke a few minutes before. And even if Tobi proposes to Sasuke to end Karin's life, possibly out of the goodness of his heart, but also so that she doesn't give any information about Akatsuki or Sasuke to Konoha, because yes Tobi doesn't know her personally and can't trust her as much as Sasuke does. I sincerely think that Sasuke never intended to end Karin's life, because, let's be serious, the guy managed to stab Danzo who was preparing another "Izanagi" and thus beat him in terms of speed, but takes a good 10 minutes to load a chidori again to kill Karin, clearly leaving time for Sakura and the others to arrive.
We have known the boy to be more determined than that.
Even though in the end the final canon disappointed us all a lot by letting SasuSaku come in, I did enjoy Kishi's little joke in Boruto, hinting that Karin could have been Sarada's biological mother. I think all this was not done randomly, the fact that Kishimoto revived the ship war, was really to piss off all the fans of SasuSaku's ship and it worked well, I saw some of them having white hair and cold sweat when they read that for the first time, I laughed a lot guys.
Honestly, I appreciate that the current Boruto canon shows us a Karin who has matured a lot and has managed to get over her feelings for Sasuke. I also appreciate that the Taka team has always remained the same despite Sasuke's departure, Karin, Suigetsu and Juugo finally are best friends and I prefer their situation thousands of times over Sakura's, I mean it frankly; Karin has been much better served than Sakura here and I thank Kishimoto for that.

Okay, I trust you as a source for all things Fire Emblem - can you please tell me if Fire Emblem Engage is worth getting? It's a lot of money, and I've seen a real mixed reception for it. I've read reviews that call it uninspired and shallow, storywise, and that some characters are difficult to enjoy. Is it actually worth it, or am I better off just replaying Fates? I am TORN over here.
SO! Good news in brief: if you liked Fates I'm fairly certain that you've got a good chance of liking Engage. I honestly see Engage as Fates 2 with a much better focus on what it wants to be and do! In fact if I HAD to pick a previous entry for fair comparison/vibe similarities, I'd pick Fates, maybe Sacred Stones (though I've yet to finish that one).
Engage is right now my favorite entry of the series.
MORE DETAILED ANSWER UNDER THE CUT (I have only played thru once on normal + casual as of writing)
I still maintain it's a good game and worth it, but you HAVE to be open-hearted about it. It's going to be silly. It's going to be hammy and subtle as a sledgehammer. It will even say the most cringe ass shit with it's whole heart. It's just about the farthest from 3H you can get on the fire emblem scale to the point you could have it sitting next to Kingdom Hearts and I, personally, love that for it, but feel like comparing it to 3H's darker tones is the thing most negative reviewers fall prey to.
Is it simple? Yeah. Absolutely. Terribly predictable, even. Is it heartfelt? YES! ABSOLUTELY! Engage has no time for "wow that was cheesy" because it LOVES cheese and it wants you to know that LOVE IS THE MOST POWERFUL THING EVER. It knows it's running a trite and cliched story and it doesn't care about that so much as trying to hit its notes with just the right vibe- and I argue it does a majority of the time, but can concede some things are rather silly. It's full steam ahead with the power of love and friendship and it does that with about as much reverence as a Sat. A.M. cartoon. A good Sat. A.M. cartoon that you're still thinking of years down the line that was a formative childhood joy.
And it's not about romantic love, actually! Hardly at all! There's a lot more focus on familial and platonic love than romance!! There are explicit "I love you"s regarding family bonds and multiple sibling relationships that make it clear they would do everything for their family. The only romantic aspect is whoever you choose to have Alear S-Rank (the game calls it a ring rank for Reasons but its essentially an S-Rank), and everyone else's supports end at A. Even then there's room in a fair number of Alear's S-Ranks to get interpreted as Really Good Friends, as the focus is not on "I Love You" but moreso the fact Alear and the blorbo in question have a deep, deep bond (though there are S-Ranks that are romantic-tinted and some who will explicitly say they love Alear, and regardless of gender picked! wow! diversity win!). If you were looking for pairing up your sexy chess pieces and getting paired endings, though, there'll be a bit left to be desired.
Again if you like Fates, or Kingdom Hearts, or stories that are cheesy, simple, cliched, but heartfelt, you're going to like this one. The cast is wonderful, and the story has some surprisingly good emotional beats. Oh, and also some of the FUNNIEST supports I have seen. Ever.
Alear in particular has become my favorite lord of the series, just barely scooting ahead of Corrin by virtue of having a more solid characterization and arc that Fates didn't quite let Corrin have. Which, yes, you can rename Alear and give them their own birthday, but there is NO question that Alear is their own character; hats off to Laura Stahl and Brandon McInnis for bringing stellar performances that are essential to the character. Frankly hats off in general to the voice cast as a whole they really bring a charm to the game that cannot be ignored.
I will say that supports are pretty hard to grind out, though, requiring units to be adjacent, and the leveling curve leaves a lot of... wonkiness? It's VERY easy with the rate of receiving new units + leveling funk to have units fall behind, or your army to feel underleveled, if you're like me and mostly skip the side skirmishes (bad gamer, I know). I hear the skirmishes are also kind of wonky and scaled to Alear's level which. Can Be A Problem if you're trying to level or support grind weaker units. Though I will say that playing Normal + Casual playing straight through the main story, while it occasionally made me sweat, it did not make me have to completely redo a map (or, if it did, it was probably only once or twice and I've simply forgotten about the inconvenience). Just made unlocking supports irksome as units fell off and/or made it hard to keep some characters off the bench.
There's also an OBSCENE amount of freedom in what you can do with your units. Go crazy go stupid try not to die. Resource management can get tricky, there's not quite enough gold or bond points to do everything, but you can do a lot of stuff, especially if you find a favorite to focus in on. As for the Engage mechanic: very powerful, but not to the point of sapping all the challenge out of things, and fairly balanced. The Break mechanic introduced I think is a great addition to the weapon triangle mechanics and adds a nicer layer of consideration to unit placement + weapon diversity in your army than before.
Also, if you're worried Engage overly relies on it's intent as an anniversary celebration, don't! Engage still is doing its own thing, and moreso uses references to past entries as spice or flourishes of color. They add some fun easter eggs and flavoring to the story, but it doesn't rely on the emblems or any throwbacks to tell the story it's trying to tell. Are Firene and Brodia a 1:1 for Zofia and Rigel? Yeah! Probably on purpose! They literally got the guy who voices Duma in FEH to do King Morion! Do you need to know anything about Shadows of Valentia to appreciate that? Nope! Just nice to know. Corrin's ring is found in a Northern Fortress, to further help illuminate the cute nods involved.
If you're on the fence, totally get that, especially since dropping 60$ on a game in this economy- ~90$ if you wanna add DLC -is a lot of money to ask for. But I've thoroughly enjoyed what Engage has to offer, and currently am hopping along through playthrough #2 and trying to tell myself to S-Rank someone who isn't Alcryst (I will probably S-Rank Alcryst again). I'd suggest looking into the first few eps of a playthrough if you're still not quite sure, and, frankly, imo there's no shame in just purely enjoying it from a "watched a playthrough" perspective, if you have to.
and, if none of this has persuaded you, please direct your attention to Zelkov and this Honest-To-Alear real support exchange: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1_lsOLB68g

HC Potpurri: Catalan People
First off, this post goes dedicated to @marmolao , given they requested headcanons about the Inazuma Areori Catalans (Barcelona Orb + the Catalonian Quartet from Muteki no Giant) as a bday gift. Originally I wasn't sure if I had enough content of them in my mind, but I did manage to compile lots of things I've written so far. Hope you like it Marmo!!! 💟
Tumblr media
Keep on mind most info is still on proto-stage due to lack of focus and time working on these; so there's things that might change or not. PLUS, like always, I'm waiting for VROH to give profiles to the non-main characters as to know about them better.
Either way, let's go!
I think this is a given already, but I do like to see the Catalonian Quartet as the equivalent of the Red Matador Jocks on the AreOri timeline; just that the other group represents Navarre instead (At least 3/4 of them ig). If you really think about it, both groups have a huge keeper who's animal themed (Alonso / Fermín), a cocky striker that randomly goes challenging people (Luther / Samuel), another small forward that tends to be too confident (Bergamo / Davi) aaaand obviously the captain + emblem player of their respective teams (Clario / Querardo). I also like this comparison due to the Scar- I mean Red vs Violet motifs they have. 🍊🍇
Though if I had to say whose group is more united, I guess the catalonians win this round. I like the idea that Clario, Bergamo and Luther were close knit friends since infance, with Alonso joining the group by himself later on. Seriously. Since they first joined Barcelona Orb, the keeper straight up started to stick around for no apparent reason. The three were confused, but after seeing he meant no harm, they just let him in. But overall, their bond is very strong even overseas :)
Honestly though, I do see Alonso being a complete enigma most of the time. None even knows what is he cooking inside his head. It is even more unknown how does he even get to see his sorroundings given he's always with his eyes closed, but he won't ever tell his methods (?
About FC Barcelona Orb as a whole, I like to see it being as a branch of the actual famous team, containing a special squad for teens around Junior High age. So, its members come all from different parts of the city, from different schools and contexts.
They all train on Inazuma's own equivalent of the real life Camp Nou; which means they can also get some interactions with the actual adult representatives of Barcelona. In few occassions they themselves offered to help the teens train!
But what about this team on the OG timeline? Both the FC and the junior team DO exist, but their presence is less important. In Reloaded it is mentioned this team managed to win the Spanish Youth League, which happened either at the same time or before as Japan's FF. HOWEVER here's where the differences start: While Luther and Bergamo do play soccer in the OG, Clario nor Alonso DON'T. The fluffy keeper just couldn't develop any interest on soccer at all, and Clario never felt confident about himself as a player. He doesn't know about the potential and skills that lay dormant beneath him, of couse. But without these key players, BO sadly lost its chance to win.
After that they also participated on few matches as to decide the Catalonian represensatives for the prior Spanish Community Cup (Inexistant in AreOri, managing to get some BO players into the team. But then again, only Carlos would be choosen to represent Catalonia *worldwide*, so it was all a huge letdown.
When it comes to the actual spanish team over at Liocott, I think Alonso is the only one who supports it (Mainly because he just happens to find Fermín dreamy). The other three do not feel very fond of RM at all (And like we said, the poor catalonian representation does not help their case)
Now as for the other players...
...Okay, I'll be extremely self-indulgent here. I've joked many times about F. Dazzlo looking VERY closely to a certain paldean pokemon character, Arven; so I like to base my HCs on him. For now, I can picture Dazzlo making little sandwiches for everyone post practice :D He also has a pet dog,; but worry not, they're okay.
Also... While I do for now avoid developing too much anyone minor from BO / MNG, I DO admit I'm cooking something with Gregorio Habaro. He mainly remains a side character, obviously not joining the national selection but with his own side plot as he follows the spanish to Russia. I'd LOVE to explain more but it is HEAVILY tied with an OC and I haven't even told her story on the OG yet HELP!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
Maybe one day we'll get there and I'll tell it all (Or I could share it by other methods); but for now: Remember his name, keep a pin on him, he's very important to someone.
At least on the meantime, I also see the BO defenders as friends. Imo Oscar seems very sweet, I have a feeling he could be the most upbeat player of BO (At least after Alonso, no one beats his ":3" vibes).
Tumblr media
Well, guess that's all for now. As always, if you want something more on detail or request anything else, go on!
Aaaaalso last thing I've discovered while re-watching Reloaded again: Barcelona Orb has a coach....

You got me into your CCA au so ,,, any info on the au?
God, I have *so* much info, like you would not believe-
I’m going to start with simple details into a few of the characters, but a brief explanation into the AU is also deserved. Basically, this is partially a college AU mixed up with a bunch of realistic scenarios and lesser talked about subjects.
There are several characters that it will follow and all the subplots are weaved together like a textile rug, all interconnected and important to each other. We’ll start out with the “Bad” sans gang, and I’ll tell you a little bit about them!
Nightmare - Currently a Junior in college. Studying pre-law, getting his bachelor’s degree before heading off to law school. - Was adopted as an infant into a more than well-off family. Both his adoptive parents are in judicial practices, as is his adoptive grandfather. He bears a heavy expectation on his shoulders. - He often is forced into taking trips away from campus, signed off for by his adoptive father, who is also a lawyer, teaching him how to work cases.
Killer - Currently a college freshman. Didn’t really want to go to college, and has an undeclared major. Is super socially adept and driven to find the “party scene” lifestyle. - Came to the school on a deferred sports scholarship. - Cross was the one who first introduced him to Nightmare and the others.
Dust - Currently a Junior. Didn’t interact with Nightmare at all until their Sophomore year. Horror was actually the one to introduce the two. - Currently studying to be a literature major, spending most of his time reading. He and Nightmare got along well through that, swapping book recommendations. - Roommates for the whole of the three years with Sci. Sci and Farm introduced Horror and Dust to each other.
Horror - College senior. Always assumed to be a jock due to his size, but is actually double majoring in agriculture and bioengineering. - Met Nightmare during his Sophomore year. The younger began tutoring him in math, as he has suspected Dyscalculia. - Roommates with Farm. The two met in an agriculture program and decided to room together Junior year.
Cross - Sophomore. Here on a sports scholarship that he doesn’t want. Was always pushed to be “well rounded”. Currently taking an interest in law enforcement, but considering nursing as well. - He and Nightmare had a chance first encounter, when he was a Freshman. Nightmare has a ritual of taking walks in the evening, spotted Cross practicing alone, and struck up a conversation across a chainlink fence. This ritual continues to this day. - The real voice of reason in the group when Nightmare is away, but also very much trying to let the others make good decisions for themselves and then trying to fix it for them.
Error - Currently a Junior. Nightmare’s roommate Freshman year. The two mutually agreed to stay out of each other’s way and bonded over their reclusiveness. - Changed housing when Nightmare began living off campus, getting stuck in a three person unit with Fresh and Geno. - Currently, he and Fresh take turns delivering weekly schoolwork to Geno while he’s in and out of hospital.

An, Ann, N Anny Monster AU
So I was watching mad monster party (a classic) and it made me think of an AU with the girls. Here all the Cul-de-sac kids would be adults and reuniting on Evil Island, after being summoned by the infamous Dr. Jekyll and the council of monster’s.
The An’s currently live together in a small village, making money scaring the locals and just enjoying life until there summoned and are suddenly re-united with their old pal’s. Including the now older Kanker brothers.
An Creature - Creature from the black Lagoon (was going to do werewolf but I can see An living in the swamp). Her pod (family) was very strict, and territorial, trying there best to keep An in line. Yet her love for human junk out weighed her fear of them and it cost a lot of issue’s. So after they couldn’t send her to boarding school, they sent her away for safety of the pod. An is much happier as a result, freedom, a whole basement to herself and can make a mess. She is sad about the locals running away from her though.
Was terrorized by Jay (a Frankenstein with Siren parts) who loved her voice and just how strong she was when they were little as An was told to stay away from boys and sirens so he caused her a bit of panic. When they got older hey bonded on human video games and the two developed a small friendship but lost contact after graduation. Re-connecting however has bubbled up a few unwanted feelings.
Ann Hilda Jekyll- Daughter of Dr Jekyll and a witch, Double-N now lives with her friends in the an old castle conducting experiments and creating potions. Even trading/selling her potions for some small change. Uses potions to hide her witch side (in this AU she’d have green skin and other ‘witchy features) just don’t let her use her dads concoction. She becomes a real witch lol
Which is ironically how Larie became attracted to her. Larie a science experiment himself (with extra parts from a gargoyle to fly with and horns) began to bug her. Mostly because he was bored an she was easy prey, until she takes her ‘medicine’. Then her other side knocked him threw a window, fixed up his wounds an apologized to him. He was just so taken back that he fell in love.         So he began to pursue her and then lost touch at graduation (Double-N bolted out the door). Meeting again has caused a lot confusing feeling because he hasn’t given up but has grown a lot.
Anny Nosferatu- Obviously a vampire but unfortunately for Anny she’s a direct descendent of Nosferatu, which hasn’t helped her image. Being stuck between her families high expectations, comparisons to her much crueler older sister, and Karen mocking her as being the lesser Vampire, it’s not hard to see why she jumped at the chance to leave. Anny also say this as a way to prove herself that she’s just as good so she enjoys terrorizing the locals.
Met Tee when they were really little and he had gotten lost. Being the first experiment out of his brothers and having gorgon parts caused people to freak out at his eyes that hypnotize people instead of turn them to stone. Anny being the outcast herself stood up for him and they became friends until she’s forced to leave. A few years later they met again, but she forgot him and he hadn’t given up. Like the other’s they lost contact after graduation (Anny clung to Double-N’s broom as the bolted out the door). But now she’s back and he’s hot, help.
--
Will do the Kanker brothers and the rest of the Cul-de-sac (maybe some oc’s) on other post’s. This is it for now, tell me what monsters you’d think the girls or the other kids would be.

2023
Hello again! So it's the time of the year again to reflect on what happened this 2023
I have to admit, this year has been a difficult year again, especially in terms of my work life. I won't dwell on it too much here so I guess this post won't be too long.
But despite of all the difficulties encountered during the year, I realized that there are still things to be thankful for. As I went along in this 2023 journey, I realized that I've been surrounded by good friends.
Earlier this year, I had a chance to catch up and bond with choir batchmates (Ate Liza and Theo) before Ate Liza moved to their province. I also had a chance to a reunion and bonding with college friends with Ate Ai who went to Manila for a few months (she's now based in Japan). I also had a chance to a reunion with my former teammates in NCD unit. While we don't really have that deep friendship, I do feel that our bonding is real and genuine. We even had an out of town trip. It wasn't perfect but at least I learned about them a little more on travelling with them. I also had a reunion with my friends at the choir, with one of us returning to the choir after being inactive for a few years. While I don't want to expect anything from my choir friends anymore, I still appreciated that our friendship revived somehow. This also goes to other old friends who are still up for casual online catch ups.
I also realized that rapport with the other associates in our Division has been established already somehow. And they remind me that I'm not alone in experiencing difficulties at work.
So God has still been good to me as he answers my prayers in being surrounded with good friends.
While my head is telling me that I will still encounter difficulties in 2024, I still welcome 2024 with hope.
Let's go, 2024!

No affiliation, no claim to the real Yoon Seeun of STAYC, as this character’s made solely for roleplayer purposes only. This character arose from the dream, the fantasy. The stories I tell, in this make-believe dance, belong to the writer, Christmas, by chance. So let this verse be a beacon, the intentions made clear, in the realm of role-play, I hold nothing dear. Keira Janelle Salim. 林梦婷 (Lín Mèngtíng). Janelle/Jane. Edinburgh, Scotland, June 14, 2002. A-type. Female. She/Her. Bisexual. Gemini. Indonesian. International Relations Student & Entrepreneur.
"Read, and may you never get lost..."
Keira Janelle Salim, lovingly referred to as Janelle, graced the world with her presence on June 14, 2002, in the vibrant city of Edinburgh, Scotland. Born in the midst of summer, she shared this momentous occasion with her twin brother, Brilianta Dion Salim, a bond that would shape their lives in remarkable ways. Their parents, Arnold Duocto Salim and Liviana Agnes Salim (née Joandra), are an extraordinary couple whose lives are a unique blend of diplomacy and music.
Both Arnold and Liviana hailed from the picturesque town of Pontianak, Indonesia, a place known for its serene beauty and warm-hearted people. Their love story was a fusion of two passions – Arnold’s commitment to diplomacy and Liviana’s virtuosity in playing the piano. Their union was a harmonious combination of cultures, much like the melodies that resonated from Liviana’s fingers as they danced across the keys.
The Salim family had grown to encompass five members over the years. Prior to Janelle’s birth, they were already a family of four, with Mochsen Salim being the eldest, known for his insatiable curiosity. Brilianta, or Brian, as he was affectionately called, was the twin brother who shared Janelle’s birthday. Mochsen, Brian, and Janelle formed a trio that was as diverse and dynamic as their diplomatic and artistic parents.
Arnold’s diplomatic career was an exciting yet challenging journey. As a diplomat, he had the honour of representing his country on the international stage. This often meant moving from one country to another, an adventurous lifestyle that Mochsen, Brian, and Janelle grew accustomed to. With each new destination, they embraced new cultures, languages, and friendships, truly becoming citizens of the world.
From the United States to South Africa, Russia to Japan, the Salim children lived like young ambassadors, their experiences broadening their horizons and enriching their perspectives. They learned the art of adaptability and developed a deep appreciation for the interconnectedness of our global community.
Yet, when Mochsen, Brian, and Janelle reached high school age, their parents made a heartfelt decision to halt their nomadic existence. This decision was made out of love and a desire to ensure their children had the chance to build strong roots and a solid sense of identity. The family settled in Jakarta, Indonesia, providing the stability and continuity they had longed for.
In Jakarta, the Salim children had a chance to experience the warmth of a permanent home. They attended local schools, nurtured lasting friendships, and explored their individual interests and talents. Janelle, inspired by her father’s diplomatic career, pursued her passion for international relations and became a dedicated member of AIESEC. This organisation aligns perfectly with her global perspective and desire to make a positive impact on the world.
Arnold and Liviana, faithful to their callings, are now diplomats stationed in Vancouver, Canada. They continue to represent their home country on the world stage, sharing their love for diplomacy and music with diverse audiences. Meanwhile, Mochsen, Brian, and Janelle have chosen to stay in Jakarta, focusing on their education and personal development. This pause in their international adventures was a deliberate choice to prevent any identity crisis, ensuring they have a strong sense of self in their young adult lives.
The Salim family, rooted in Jakarta, while Arnold and Liviana fulfil their diplomatic duties in Vancouver. Janelle, in particular, is on the cusp of her own diplomatic journey as she pursues her studies and dreams in international relations. This path promises to be as dynamic and vibrant as her family’s story.
Tumblr media
Personality: she’s a sunbeam in human form, her optimism a radiant glow, her intellect’s a tapestry of stars, a celestial mind to show. In debates, she’s a masterful weaver of words, a poetic art—a funny, quick-witted jester who can mend any broken heart. A social butterfly, she flutters from flower to flower with grace, yet a tempest within, her short temper can quickly surface and trace. Easily irritated, like lightning in a summer storm’s deluge, but she forgives as swiftly as the rain leaves the Earth’s refuge. Her heart, a vast canvas of contradictions, a vivid, complex hue, an enigmatic portrait of a woman, both fiery and forgiving, it’s true.
Interests: photography, movies, debates, documentary movies, war and historical movies, books (not really, and very picky), music, piano, guitar, flute, culinary, astronomy.
"Unbreakable bonds, imperishable vows: remaining constant in every phase, the hearts know that it will always last."
Mochsen Salim.
Tumblr media
Mochsen, the embodiment of an exceptional big brother, possesses a personality that radiates kindness, compassion, and dedication. His soft-spoken demeanour is like a gentle breeze on a warm summer day, offering solace and comfort to those around him.
One of his most admirable qualities is his unwavering commitment to never burdening his younger siblings with life's complexities. He carries their worries and concerns as his own, creating a haven where they can grow and thrive without the weight of the world on their shoulders.
When their parents are away, Mochsen steps into the role of protector and caregiver without hesitation. His sense of responsibility is a rock upon which his siblings can depend, providing a sense of security that is both heartening and reassuring.
Passion courses through his veins like a relentless river, driving him to excel in whatever he pursues. Whether it’s his career or personal interests, Mochsen’s enthusiasm is palpable and inspiring, showing his siblings the rewards of dedication and hard work.
However, his passion is accompanied by a gentle touch, never overshadowing his soft-hearted nature. He knows that toughness and rigidity are not the path to nurturing deep and lasting relationships with loved ones. His approach to those he cares for is tender, compassionate, and empathetic.
Mochsen is the embodiment of reliability, the bedrock of support that every family needs. His presence is a comforting constant in a world filled with change and uncertainty. He represents the balance of strength and tenderness, illustrating that a soft heart can be a wellspring of resilience.
In Mochsen, his younger siblings have found not only a loving and reliable big brother but also a role model who embodies the qualities of a kind, gentle, and dedicated human being.
Brilianta Dion Salim.
Tumblr media
Brian, the twin brother of Janelle, possesses a personality that may seem enigmatic at first, yet beneath his seemingly cold exterior lies a treasure trove of qualities that make him a truly remarkable individual.
At first glance, Brian’s demeanour might be misinterpreted as aloof or distant, but those who delve deeper soon discover a heart brimming with warmth and humour. He's the master of subtle wit and dry humour, effortlessly lightening the mood with his clever quips and witty observations.
Thoughtfulness is another defining trait of Brian’s character. He’s the kind of person who remembers birthdays, anniversaries, and the little things that matter most. His ability to put himself in others’ shoes, empathising and offering support when needed, showcases the depth of his caring nature.
Ambition courses through his veins, propelling him toward his goals with unwavering determination. Brian is not one to settle for mediocrity; he has a vision for the future and the drive to achieve it. His ambition serves as a source of inspiration, motivating those around him to reach for their own aspirations.
One of the most striking aspects of Brian’s personality is his uncanny ability always to know what to do in various situations. He approaches challenges composedly, never allowing panic or chaos to cloud his judgment. This innate sense of decisiveness makes him a trusted and valuable problem solver.
What makes the bond between Brian and Janelle truly special is their shared beliefs and values. As twins, they have an unspoken connection, a deep understanding of each other that goes beyond words. Their alignment in beliefs and values creates a unique synergy that provides unwavering support and solidarity in the face of life’s twists and turns.
In Brian, Janelle not only has a twin brother but also a confidant, a source of laughter, a partner in ambition, and a guide in times of uncertainty. His complex and multifaceted personality, often hidden beneath an initial veneer of reserve, adds depth and richness to their relationship, making it truly special.
"This is not the end, I will outlive the moons and shine with the stars that’ve been here right before and after me."

What s wrong with Puppy Farms Dogs? By purchasing these pups, you might be removing them from a squalid life, but no thought is given to the mothers of these sick puppies who languish in cramped spaces, never seeing the light of day or feeling the comforting touch of a human hand. They are breeding machines, with little or no recovery between litters and when they can no longer reproduce, are often killed. 🐶🔥➡️ Who Are The 5 Most Expensive Dog Breeds? I remember Lily, a Cocker Spaniel who was purchased from an online advertisement. Our client had suspected that she was a breeding bitch since she was not house trained and was petrified of open spaces. When I first met Lily she was unresponsive and had very little interest accept for her owner, whom she followed everywhere. It was heartbreaking and took many visits at the puppy farms dogs before she would even acknowledge me, but the breakthrough, when it came, was almost euphoric. I entered the property as normal and called Lily's name. Usually it took a few renditions of Hello by Lional Ritchie, before she would lift her head from a sleeping position, but that day, there was a slight wag of her tail and a little light in those dark brown eyes that made me believe that she was slowly emerging from her shell. 🐶😍🔥➡️Who Are The 8 Most Affectionate Dog Breeds? In the three years of walking Lily, she would never show the exuberance of a 'normal' dog, but slowly, over time, a bond was formed. Lily was shy with strangers throughout the remainder of her life, but she became the most loving of dogs and completely devoted to those within her family unit. Sadly the family moved out of our area, but kept in touch until we were informed that she died a couple of years later. Lily was one of the lucky ones. She made it out of her prison and was given a chance. She absolutely adored her saviors and her loyalty knew no bounds. How can we end puppy farms dogs? So how can we put an end to puppy mills? NEVER buy a puppy/dog from an online or newspaper or advertisement. Do NOT buy from a pet store and if you suspect that a neighbor, or someone you know is involved in the puppy mill trade, report them immediately to the RSPCA. 🐶🔥➡️What Are The 6 Best Dogs For Allergy Sufferers? The only real way to shut down puppy mills is to stop the demand. Did you know that virtually every breed has a rescue, so if you really must have a pure bred puppy or dog, contact the Kennel Club, who will direct you to the right organisation. These societies are completely dedicated to re-homing pedigree dogs and by adopting this way, you are quite literally saving lives. For every empty kennel in rescue, or with a foster carer, there is another dog waiting to be re-homed. I also find it extremely frustrating that some people see adoption centres as full of problematic dogs. Pets in rescue should never be tainted, as those with behavioural problems! Let me assure you that this is largely untrue! Nearly 45% of our clients have pets adopted from shelters and not one has proved problematic to our pet sitters. In fact, they are loving, faithful and devoted to their owners and form close bonds with their sitters. We have also helped to re-home clients pets, who have been the result of a marriage breakup, where clients have moved out of the country and been unable to take their pets with them, or a change in circumstances which has seen them unable to continue care for their animals, so please do not attach a stigma to pets that end up in rescue. Far from being unadoptable, they make the most wonderful pets and a good rescue organisation will temperament test and offer training were necessary. They will also be fully assessed, health checked, micro chipped and spayed or castrated before going out into their new home, so please give them a chance. Why You Shouldn't Adopt a Puppy From a Puppy Farm There are a few reasons you shouldn't adopt a puppy from a puppy farm. First, the dog you a
dopt may not be socialized. You have to be willing to accept him for who he is. He might be timid or fearful of strangers, but that won't stop him from wanting to be around you. Second, a puppy mill dog's temperament will be undoubtedly affected by his upbringing. Third, the puppy mill dog may be competitive with other dogs in the puppy mill. This can lead to marking behavior due to competition for attention, toys, or food. It can also be triggered by seeing other dogs outside. Thankfully, there are a variety of products available that help a dog adapt to other dogs. Fourth, puppy farms often have poor conditions. Often, the conditions are unsanitary, and puppies may be forced to breed. This can be harmful to their health, and it can cause a lot of stress for the animals. It is also difficult to track how many litters a female has produced. Lastly, puppy farms may not be the best place to adopt a puppy. There are other options available, such as shelters. Animal welfare groups have reported a large increase in demand for animals in recent years, particularly for puppies. i think my favorite sibling moment in the entirety of the umbrella academy is when five comes to collect klaus to stop the apocalypse before they find allison and they’re talking about how reginald always warned them about the apocalypse when they were kids. and klaus is like “yeah i always thought he just said that to scare us into doing the dishes” and five goes “me too” with that somewhat delighted tone of voice like he’s surprised and validated that he and his siblings were on the same page about yet another one of the bullshit things their dad put them through as kids and i just. siblings commiserating over their bizarre and terrible childhood as adults when they never dared to reach out to each other as kids 🥺
