Top 5 favorite trops in fiction
i've answered this one or something like it before but! i'll do it again! and maybe repeat myself. probably. we'll see
1. downward spirals. I was thinking about this and I realized that while corruption arcs are definitely a Thing for me, I also really enjoy downward spirals in general, including of the more "depression-style emotional collapse" variety. I think either way it's probably the...intensification, the way it focuses in on a characters flaws or fault lines, which are often the most interesting part of a character to me, and certainly the crunchiest.
2. villain rehabilitation arcs. I used to say "redemption arcs" but I've sort of...cooled on that, perhaps mostly in terms of terminology (pedantic) but I think also in terms of tenor. I'm less interested in arcs that have to do with atonement, at this point, which I associate with a classic redemption arc, and more interested in characters making a turn and doing the work to be better without, necessarily, that implication - particularly when that flavor comes with a "they need to suffer" side. (or, my favorite, "they need to die" end.) I'm just not interested in punishment! I'm interested in seeing characters (having the chance to) change and grow.
3. messy sibling relationships. I mean. this is an old one but it continues to be a solid 10/10 for me every time. it doesn't have to be sibling loathing (though that's good), but ordinary sibling rivalry doesn't quite cut it either. it needs to be complicated and crunchy and in some way a tangled mess of emotions. I think there's just something about the sibling relationship that deeply compels me. it's probably personal.
4. inhuman endurance (and eventual breakdown). I didn't fully articulate this one to myself until @neuxue started pointing it out but. yessss. when characters display an endurance that goes beyond the pale and pushes past the point of sustainability, when it seems to those around them like they might be able to endure anything - and then when the collapse comes and they (and those around them) have to face their human vulnerability. this is another "I think this is deeply personal" one but don't worry about it.
5. characters who doom themselves. I alluded to this one in another entry for this meme but like...not just villains but tragic heroes compel me so much because of the way that they bring about their own downfall. watching a character make choices that lead inexorably and simultaneously inevitably (but also it could have gone differently) to a bad end is just. very good for me.
bonus mention here for characters with a weird relationship with their own body which is another one I didn't fully recognize until relatively recently but is one that keeps surfacing for me.

i'm GOD AWFUL at answering my asks unless they're requests, I'm sorry a;sldkfjas;df but to everyone who has sent me hearts, good vibes, and sunflowers, I appreciate and love you all so much!! <3 i'm finally getting around to this one!
i've been ordered by kat to do 5 more so here's my top 10 favorite fics I've written!! These are ALL x reader!
1. Amethyst | Leon Kennedy 2. Unspoken Words | Levi Ackerman - Chapter One: November 3. Sunrise | Levi Ackerman 4. Home | Leon Kennedy 5. For You, I Would | Armin Arlert 6. Can I Go Where You Go? | Levi Ackerman 7. Are You There? | Levi Ackerman 8. Chasing Waterfalls | Toge Inumaki 9. You'll Be Okay | Levi Ackerman 10. What's Mine, Is Yours | Erwin Smith
And here's my answer to tay's ask about my fics!
❥ fic I loved writing the most
this will always be dependent on when you ask me, because right now it will have to be Amethyst. If y'all haven't noticed, my newest love is Leon Kennedy, and writing for him is so much easier than writing for Levi and I think it's because I understand Leon's personality more. He's just so fun to riff off of. Not that Levi wasn't!! He was just harder to put down for me, I guess. ANWAYS. I loved writing for Leon and I'm working on a part two!!
❥ fic others loved that I didn't care for
okay so this might come as a surprise because it's my ultimate comfort fic, but it would have to be Sunrise. tbh, I don't know what loved the most means here but I'll equate it to notes. Sunrise is precious to me because it holds so many of my favorite things. BUT I really feel like I could have done so much better. The plot is there, the scenario and surroundings are perfect. but the WRITING?? I could have done better. don't get me wrong though, I still love it and I am very happy so many people liked it!!
❥ fic I had fun writing
definitely my For You, I Would fic. I don't have very many Armin fics but I enjoyed writing for him a lot because he's just such a shy little bean and so full of wonder and love. I could really see myself wanting to take him out on a date. This was also a request for my friend Tay and it was fun catering her interests within the story and how it works well with Armin!!
❥ fic I'm most proud of
for sure it would have to be Unspoken Words. I'm proud because it was the first time I've written something for myself in a long time. I didn't think I would care as much about fanfic until I fell in love with AoT, now look at me LMAO. UW helped me become a better writer as well as be more confident in areas I thought I lacked. I quite literally used it as a way to be better, and I'll always be proud of it. My first ever full and finished fic, I'll never forget it <3
❥ fic I wish got more recognition
probably Can I Go Where You Go? mainly because I really liked writing the semi plot twist at the end. like if you were caught up with season 4 of AoT, you would know what I was alluding to and it's like a kick in the gut LMAO. but also I thought I did pretty well with the descriptors, not to brag ofc. :3
❥ my happiest/saddest/most comedic fic
I SPENT 30 MINUTES LOOKING FOR THIS. but the saddest will have to be this short drabble about Levi losing you in an expedition and him coming to your old room, reminiscing. I don't know what brought it on but I was like, huh. let's just be SAD.
if you're interested, my fic masterlist can be found here!
finally, thank you so much for the asks @kingkonoha, @youre-ackermine, and @humanitys-strongest-bamf!! I love y'all a lot <3

The new trailer was interesting. It did the thing I didn't really want it to do by spoiling story related stuff and not reveal the actual new Pokémon we're missing, but for what it's worth it seems like the story will be pretty content heavy. Let's look at some screens I took and speculate on some stuff: and a friendly reminder that nothing I say here has any bearing on leaks that are possibly out there, so if I guess anything in the future, it was just a guess:
Tumblr media
This crystal tree is pretty suspicious. Like first of all, this appears even DEEPER into Area Zero than we've been before, assuming. Did something or someone plant it here? Is it the remains of an underground world? Could it possibly be related to a legendary? Not to mention the FULL crystallization of the tree, vs the partial crystallization of the trees up top. It's definitely not safe to be here for long.
Tumblr media
Next, Z move pose! BBA is off the coast of Unova, but there's a lot of Alola rep here. I wonder if they're doing this because Bank will shut down soon and this will be where they want us to get Alola forms for the next 5 ish years before they discontinue Switch online services?
Tumblr media
Next, this is Crispin and what appears to be proof the BBE4 won't be restricted to singular types. My friend pointed out that this could possibly be a sun team with Exeggcutor there. Wonder why they opted for Kanto when Alolan is there? (I mean besides Kanto being why).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next, the reveal of, WHOA WHODA THUNK, Champion? Corrupted Kieran anyway. I made a post a few months back when they showed off this guy from the neck down and made the prediction he'd be champion- that's not entirely confirmed just yet, but it does seem to be pointing in that direction. It's not really that much of a W because GF can be very predictable with their writing.
Anyway he looks heavily corrupted- YEAH LETS GO VILLAIN ARC!!!! His hair is fully purple now- honestly I'd have preferred it with black like before, but it's probably symbolic of his corruption. My friend even pointed out his hair kinda looks like the Toxic Chains the Loyal Three have- theory time, whatever gave them the chain is also corrupting Kieran because look at him. No light left in those eyes. Just rage. Fun :D
Tumblr media
Next we have this- I assume it's Penny or Mela tbh, because I saw from a ways back where it seems like Team Star's Giacomo has reintegrated into Naranja/Uva Academy. Maybe Penny has stopped dying her hair and grew it out or Mela is being super proper now or something. Could also be a completely unrelated character.
Tumblr media
Lastly for major story stuff, this is cool poster material. Kieran's rage or possibly fear of Terapagos, Carmine's worry for her brother, Briar... I mean come on, she's a villain in waiting, look at her face. Idk if I'm too quick to claim Terapagos is evil though, because the anime has firmly planted him in Just A Little Guy territory and I don't think they'd want to ruin that image considering they've been in charge of hyping him up since Horizons first started.
But yeah, the culmination of everything we've been through in one image. Kinda exciting.
Oh, and just some small tin foil hat pics
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's odd that they paired these trios together to me. Pokémon loves sprinkling breadcrumbs to tease at future projects, and these could pass for potential Legends starter trios.
But not for Unova.
Tepig and Snivy are the odd ones out here because it'd be kinda dumb to re use Unova starters for a Legends Unova game- now for Johto? Squirtle, Treeko, and Tepig COULD work, but Squirtle is also pretty close to home.
If I'm being real, this is probably nothing and just meant to highlight the starters across different generations coming home, with Tepig and Snivy being stand outs because this will be their first time being available on the Switch. Ever.
Other notable things I didn't screenshot:
BQs: basically side quests.
Synchronization? I guess? We can actually control a Pokémon. Conspiracy brain wants to say this is alluding to something, but I'm unsure. It's at least kind of neat because this has been a topic of various NPCs in the series for years. Those were probably just alluding to Mystery Dungeon games, but when Game Freak does something like this in DLC, it could hint at a future mechanic or possibly a feature in a future game.
Legendaries returning: I'm gonna be real, I'm not really all that excited by the prospect of yet another Legendary Bargain Sale that they've been doing since ORAS at this point. ORAS, USUM, Crown Tundra, and now Indigo Disk. At this point the legendaries are more common and accessible than some common pokemon like Furfrou or the elemental monkeys.
What's interesting to note are a couple of things:
1. DLC pokemon from SwSh are here too, including Kubfu. That's interesting, I wonder how it will evolve considering we needed the two towers in IoA last time? An NPC from the dojo?
2. Boi if you thought I wasn't gonna talk about the Unovan dragons- they didn't HAVE to single them out like that! They didn't have to. They did, though. I'm pretty sure we all know their next projects.
You may be saying "but it's too fast!" And I agree. They need to stop rushing things and take their time, but we all know they won't. All we can do is hope they actually try this time.
Anyways that was the last trailer for Indigo Disk. Maybe it's my severe depression talking, but I'm actually excited for Indigo Disk. It looks very content heavy and a bit prettier to look at than before. I hope it runs okay- I mean it won't, but I still hope it. I also hope this isn't as quick as Teal Mask was.
1 week lefts, bois

Star Treatment (Alex Turner x Reader) - Part 5
Tumblr media
summary: there’s a strange man named alex that has a strange obsession with you, and he makes the strangest offer of your life.
word count: 3.8k
warnings: none
part 1 / part 2 / part 3 / part 4
Your time on the moon was almost over.
With the close of your galactic journey came a bittersweet feeling; you’d had a lot of fun at the hotel. Although you neglected the casino aspect (you’d never been much of a gambler and didn’t intend to start), you took multiple dips in the pool, perused the library countless times, and even ventured into the gym once or twice. The fitness jungle was intimidating, so you only really used the treadmill, but it was still something. You’d gotten to talk to Alexa and Miles a lot more, and they both agreed to keep in touch with you once you were all back on Earth.
The person you’d miss the most, though, was Alex.
You hadn’t seen much of him over the last few days, despite your stay being extended; James had been sent back to Earth prematurely, and a round trip for the rocket was at least six days, so you were more or less stuck up there until further notice. Although Alex’s glances towards you had become more tender, his touches more like caresses, his words spoken in a soft tone he didn’t use with anyone else, you hadn’t spoken much to each other since your impromptu sleepover. You were hesitant to ask him about it; you yearned for his attention, but you also understood how it might look if he was suddenly doting on you every hour of every day. You’d be proving James right, more or less. You would rather step out the airlock than do that.
You also knew talking to each other once you got back home wouldn’t really be an option; he told you once that he’d open the hotel to the public within the next month, meaning his attention would be entirely consumed by his project. You would return to your regular job, and he would remain an unfinished canvas, a story never to be completed. Would he even come to the café anymore? Would he want anything to do with you?
"What's got you all worked up?" You jumped at the sound of Miles' voice and whipped around. He was leaning against the doorway of your room, his arms crossed over his chest and his left eyebrow cocked up.
Your own eyebrow rose at his question. "I'm not worked up. I'm just standing here."
"You get worked up in your own ways," he said with a shrug. "You tend to zone out. In this case, I've been here for nearly three minutes trying to get your attention, and you've just been starin' at the clothes you've got on the bed."
You cringed at the mental image his words painted in your head. "Sorry. I'm just thinking."
"About what?" When you didn't answer and instead looked back down at the clothes- the tee, joggers and socks you hadn't worked up the courage to give back to Alex yet- realisation seemed to hit Miles like a truck. "Oh. About Al?"
Miles was the only one that had approached you directly about whether or not there was anything between you and Alex. Alexa had taken a more subtle approach, nudging you with her elbow and winking whenever Alex smiled at you in passing, but Miles had been much more direct, his curiosity regarding your relationship coming in the form of an abrupt "Are you shaggin' him?" over lunch one day. You told him no repeatedly, probably so much so that it could be read as yes. You didn't dare allude to what had really happened between the two of you, but you were honest with him in admitting there was something there. Something you both felt.
"Why don't you just talk to him?" His words dragged you back to the present.
You sighed. "I wish it was that easy," you mumbled. "But what am I supposed to say? For all I know, I might just be some fling of his."
Miles barked out a laugh at that. "You're kiddin', right? He's bloody obsessed with you."
"He could just be playing it up."
"Y/N," he said, his voice taking on a much more serious tone, "if Alex was fuckin' around with you this whole time, I would seriously harm him. That's a major 'if', though. I've never known him to be that kind of person, and neither has Alexa. He isn't the type to toy with someone else's feelings."
A voice rang out from somewhere down the hall. "Hey, Miles, have you seen my camera?" It was Alexa.
Miles sighed and offered you one final sympathetic glance. "I mean it," he said softly. "Right now, I doubt you're the last person he'd think of leavin' behind." And with that, he left your room, shouting down the hall about how he hadn't seen Alexa's "bloody fuckin' camera".
You looked back down on the clothes you'd neatly laid out on top of the bed. You'd been planning to give them back that day, actually, but every time you finally worked up the courage to do it, you quickly convinced yourself it would be a bad idea. You hated how insecure you suddenly felt; you were positive that even if Alex was obsessed with you, someone better would come along. Someone more deserving of his obsession and unwavering affection. The more desperate side of you wanted to believe Miles, but the more rational side of you knew that whatever existed between you and Alex right now would be gone as soon as you set foot back on Earth and returned to your routine lives.
Your time on the moon was almost over, and you hated it.
•••••
Miles had delivered the clothes in your stead. Now that they were finally out of sight, out of mind, you found yourself laying face-up in the pool, staring at the vast expanse of stars above you. The water was cold, uncomfortably so, but you didn't care; you just needed to think. You needed something else to focus on, something that wasn't the man with the heavenly Northern accent and the well-kept goatee and the shoulder-length hair that was always an elegant mess and the crisp suits and the smile that could charm God. You felt a little pathetic, if you were being honest with yourself- this time, you didn't do that as reluctantly. Maybe self-degradation came to you a little too naturally. Technically, you'd known Alex for months, but it was mostly his existence you knew of, not who he really was. Well, that and his favourite kind of coffee. Still, that didn't really tell you much about the kind of person he was. Knowing he liked his coffee burning hot didn't tell you his favourite colour or favourite food. Knowing his surprising disdain for pumpkin spice lattes didn't tell you his favourite book or his hobbies. Knowing the only pastry in the display case that he ever ordered (on the rare occasion he did order something besides coffee) was the pain au chocolat didn't tell you his middle name, his hometown, his favourite music, his dreams as a child, the things he was nitpicky about, his favourite animal, his greatest fear, how he wanted his body to be dealt with when he died, or whether or not he'd seen Blade Runner.
You would be lying if you said you hadn't imagined his response to all of those things before. You guessed his favourite colour might have been something like orange or yellow. His favourite food was something savoury, no doubt; he never struck you as the type to have much of a sweet tooth. His favourite book was definitely one of the classics. His hobbies had to be reading (that was an easy one), perhaps writing, maybe even playing an instrument. His middle name was something prim and proper, his hometown was somewhere like Newcastle, his favourite music was the oldies, his dreams as a child were to be an astronaut in space, he was nitpicky about his appearance and having everything in perfect order, his favourite animal was something predictable like a dog, his greatest fear was being forgotten, he wanted to be cremated upon death, and he had most certainly seen Blade Runner and would consider it criminal for anyone else not to have. Those were all just guesses, though, and you knew some of them were probably painfully inaccurate. But you didn't think you would ever get the answers.
Somewhere nearby, you heard a door open and then close, and for a brief moment, it dragged you out of the monotonous trance you'd placed yourself in. You quickly slipped back into your lull, though, continuing to stargaze and letting the water around you prick at your skin, giving you goosebumps. You didn't notice the door to the changing room shut, nor did you notice the small splash that accompanied the unidentified individual lowering themselves into the water. You were beginning to think you were perfectly content with staying in that pool forever when the water around you began to rock and bob, bouncing you with it. A figure came into your periphery, and the small glimpse you got made you turn your head, water instantly flooding into your right ear. Alex was wading beside you, casting small ripples into the pool water as he stroked his arms across the surface, keeping himself afloat. You slowly turned your head back to its previous position, feeling the water dribble out of your ear as you continued stargazing.
He was the first to speak, and you hated how your heart lurched at the sound of his voice, as if it would burst from your chest and wait for him to take it. "You've been avoiding me."
His voice remained neutral, but the underlying hurt in his words was glaringly obvious. "I wasn't trying to," you said quietly. "There just haven't been chances for us to talk."
"That's bullshit, Y/N, and you know it."
You shifted and struggled in the water for just a moment before assuming the same wading position he was in. For a few seconds, ones that suddenly felt uncomfortably long, all you could do was stare at him. His expression was neutral, too, but his eyes betrayed his emotions. They always had. You were reminded of the quote about the eye being the window to the soul. "I'm sorry," you finally said.
He let out a small scoff and looked down at the water between you. "At least tell me why."
"I can't."
"Why not?"
"Because you'll think it's stupid."
"What's stupid is thinking I'll think it's stupid." His gaze darted back up to meet yours, and you could tell he was having a difficult time keeping himself contained. You were reminded of the look of anger he'd had the night of the party, and how horribly it contrasted with his features. You didn't think he was built to be angry, and you hated the thought you were making him feel anything close to that.
You sighed and tilted your head back to look up at the stars again. Not looking him directly in the eye made it easier to confess what had been weighing you down so much recently. "I'm scared you'll forget me, Alex."
Silence followed, then, "What?"
"You're going to get famous because of this hotel. You have to know that. You won't have time for me anymore, which is fine because I'm just the girl that made your coffee, anyway. Even if you did have time, there's a chance some other girl will come along that's way better than me in every aspect. She'll be prettier, nicer, more successful, more important. I won't even be jealous of her, because I'll know she'll be far more deserving of you attention than I am. You'll fall in love with her and forget about me and I'll force myself to move on and maybe, eventually, I'll fall in love with someone else, too."
More silence punctuated your words, but this time, Alex didn't fill it with objections or utterances of confusion. Although you were staring up into space, from the very bottom of your line of sight, you could tell he was still staring at you. His mouth opened, then closed, then opened again, as if he was struggling to think of exactly what to say. You didn't blame him; how could you? You'd just dumped an absolute boatload on him.
It felt like an eternity had passed before he tried to form an answer for you. “I could never forget you, even if I wanted to.”
Slowly, your head lowered again, and you stared at him, unsure of what to say in response. Now it was your turn to be stunned into silence. You looked off to the side, then at the edge of the pool behind him, then back at him. “Why?”
He sighed and ran a wet hand through his hair. “The first time I saw you,” he began slowly, “I was ready to worship the ground you stood on. You might think yourself to be plain, Y/N, but in less than a few weeks, you became my whole world, only leaving enough space for …” He gestured around the two of you, his eyes widening a bit, much as they always did when he wanted to emphasise something.
Your brows knitted together at his confession. “Why didn’t you say anything?”
“Because I was well aware I’d sound mental,” he said bluntly, dropping his arms back into the water with a small splash. “Because I knew you’d think I was a creep. I was obsessed, and I felt guilty for that, even if I wasn’t tryin’ to stalk you or anything.”
You considered his words. Although you wanted to deny it to make him feel better, you knew he was right; you probably would’ve told your manager if one of the customers tried to confess his undying love to you. “But …” You trailed off, trying to think of what to say next. Your gaze dropped to the water again. “Who’s to say you still feel that way, now that you know me?”
He let out a short laugh. “Fuckin’ hell, Y/N. You’re quite stubborn, aren’t you?” When you didn’t respond, he continued. “When I told you how I felt the night of the party, I meant it,” he said quietly. “I wasn’t lying to you or trying to comfort you. I’ve always had feelings for you, and as far as I’m concerned, I always will. Nothing will change that.”
You didn’t say anything and looked away a little shamefully. You felt a bit silly for being so doubtful up to this point; it was clear Alex liked you, a lot. He called it an obsession, but you didn’t know if it really was as dramatic as he was making it out to be or if he was so inexperienced that having feelings for anyone qualified as being madly in love. Then again, he’d never struck you as the inexperienced type … quite the opposite, really, especially when you considered the ease with which he’d eaten you out.
Alex seemed to pick up on your remorse. He let out another sigh before saying, “Let’s get out of here, yeah? I don’t know about you, but I’m fuckin’ freezing.”
The two of you clambered out of the pool, heading into one of the changing rooms to dry off as best you could and wrapping yourselves up in robes. You’d have to shower later, you thought to yourself. You wondered if you could shower with Alex, and the mere thought tinted your cheeks a light shade of pink. Although you didn’t vocalise any of your thoughts, he seemed to be thinking the same thing as you, for he entwined his hand with yours and said, “Shall we go to my room?” All you could do was nod.
Inside his room, things were the same as they’d been the last time you were in there. You followed him into the bathroom, watching as he gently shut and locked the door before turning to face you. He offered you a small smile, a gesture that made you feel comfortable enough to shed your robe and strip out of your bikini. He followed suit, letting his robe and his swim trunks hit the floor in a circle of damp fabric around him. You refused to let your gaze wander to any part of his body that wasn’t his face, and at the sheer effort that seemed to take on your part, he couldn’t help but laugh.
One of the things that scared you the most about taking a shower with another person was the possibilities. As Alex turned on the water and tested it a couple of times, making sure it was warm enough before stepping inside with you following suit, your mind immediately jumped to the possibility of Alex rearranging your insides against the shower wall. Did that idea come into your head a bit too eagerly? Yes. Were you embarrassed by it? 100%. Would you ever tell Alex you had that idea? Fuck no. Were you a little scared of it happening because Alex was the only man that had ever touched you and you weren’t even sure if you’d like having sex? Absolutely.
To your surprise (and perhaps relief), though, nothing of the sort happened. Alex let you shampoo his hair first, letting out small sounds of contentment as you massaged his scalp. You worked slowly, not wanting this moment between the two of you to end anytime soon. Once his hair was adequately shampooed, he washed the suds out of his hair, then grabbed the bottle off the shelf and squeezed some into his hand. He snapped it shut on his wrist, set it back down, then began massaging the apple-scented shampoo into your own hair. You didn’t have to lean down like he did, considering you were shorter than him and he could access your scalp much easier than you could his.
You two had been in a rather comfortable silence, and he was the first to break it, although not jarringly so. “D’you like cookies?”
A small laugh erupted from you. “Who doesn’t?”
“Fair point,” he mumbled. “I was just askin’ because the café made too many yesterday, and I was gonna steal some for you.”
“Well, what kind are they?”
“Chocolate chip. Close your eyes.” Alex seized the shower head, and you quickly did as you were told, feeling the water and shampoo rush down against your head. Every so often, the water would hit your hairline, and it tickled. As he worked, he continued talking, although the torrent made it a bit harder to hear him. “I might steal a dozen, then we can split ‘em.”
When he finally pulled the shower head away from you, you reached up to dry your eyes. “Bold of you to assume I would share.”
“Ah, well …” He looked off to the side, then back down at you, his hands settling on his hips. “You’re talking to the hotel owner, so I don’t think you have much of a choice.”
“It’s a bit cruel of you to use your position against me.”
He merely hummed in response, unable to hide the smile your words generated, and grabbed the bottle of conditioner.
The rest of the shower went smoothly, and you were a little sad when it ended. It was, arguably, the most intimate you’d ever gotten with him. You two had helped each other wash, and gradually, you became less shy about touching each other. It made you realise something; you’d been viewing this kind of physical contact as sexual for an embarrassingly long time, but now that it was happening, it wasn’t sexual at all. You regretted the lewd circumstances your mind had tried to frame a shared shower in.
You’d gotten dressed following your shower, and now you found yourself back in Alex’s bed. This time, he was laying with his cheek pressed against your chest, listening to your steady heartbeat. On occasion, his fingers would begin to tap out the rhythm against your sides, although they’d stop a few seconds later. Your own fingers worked absentmindedly through his hair, and at some point, you’d begun to work on a small braid. You didn’t think he could feel it; if he did, he didn’t say anything. It would be amusing to see him discover it later.
His voice was a low rumble, and you got the idea he was more tired than he let on. “Thank you.”
Your fingers halted their movements. “For what?”
“For existing.”
Those two words made you want to cry, and you had to force yourself to blink back tears. You worked more urgently on his braid, trying to keep yourself distracted, but this meant he could feel you tugging at his hair now. His head lifted from your chest, and his expression softened into one of understanding as he shifted his body upwards and pressed a kiss to each of your cheeks, catching tears that weren’t there. “I mean it,” he murmured. “And … thank you for giving me a chance.”
That brought out the waterworks, and the tears, hot and heavy, poured from your eyes before you could stop them. His hands left your sides and came up to cup your cheeks, his thumbs wiping away your tears. He kissed your forehead, your nose, and then your lips, lingering there longer than the rest. When he pulled away, he pressed his forehead to yours, staring deep into your eyes. “Stay with me.”
Your eyes widened a little. “What?”
“Stay with me,” he repeated. “Help me manage the hotel. Or … hell, if you don’t want a thing to do with this, I understand, just-” He sighed and screwed his eyes shut. “Stay in my life,” he whispered. “Please.”
He didn’t have to ask that of you. The answer would always be yes. In a million universes, a million more lifetimes, the endless aisles of circumstances that were lined up neatly in the library of what could have been, you would always follow him. Maybe in one world, you would meet as a biker / florist duo. In another, he’d be a dazzling musician, and you’d be an awestruck photographer. In another, he might be a damn vampire, trying to navigate the world without being killed and while shunning the daylight and wearing sunglasses positively everywhere. He could be some eldritch horror, and you would still follow him to the ends of the earth. You knew that even if you were under a horribly strong curse, he would always find a way to break it. He would always find a way to make sure you could follow him. “Of course I will,” you whispered in reply. “Always.”
His eyes slowly peeled open, and he managed a soft smile at you, kissing you once more. “The day after you stole my heart,” he murmured against your lips, “everything I touched told me it’d be better shared with you.”

Same anon here who brought up that stuff about Nagito's contempt for the Reserve Course being intensified in the simulation by misinformation. For a number of reasons I'm much more accepting of the premise of literal brainwashing than other fans. In fact, controversial opinion, I actually think it is a more logical and coherent premise than the idea of Class 77-B all becoming terrorists of their own free will.
Now just to be clear I do agree that the idea of insta-brainwashing via a Despair video that Junko had all along is daft. Since on top of it being kind of anticlimactic, it retroactively means she was sitting on an "I win" button the entire time in DR1. But to summarize why I don't think the idea of literal brainwashing is an unreasonable premise, it mainly comes to three points.
The first is that the precedent for brainwashing technology had already been set in the DR universe. DR1 established that it was possible to precisely erase targeted memories. DR0 took that to the next extreme by showing it was possible to create a new persona through that same technology. UDG established that helmets to mind control victims existed too. So the idea of Class 77-B also being brainwashed is far from outlandish in the setting. In fact I accidentally predicted the V3 twist before reaching the end. Since I initially assumed they would have gone through a more visceral version of what was done to the V3 cast (though possibly with some other nastiness like sensory depravation and solitary confinement).
The second is that...well, the premise of Junko indoctrinating them one by one into a cult sounds deep and clever until you seriously think about it for like 5 minutes. The timeline simply doesn't work. Junko would have maybe 10 months tops to pull something like this off. And making matters worse is that she's in a separate class, and has a whole lot of other shit to prepare in the year leading up to the Tragedy. Manipulating Yasuke and Izuru, arranging for the school council massacre, getting Monaca and the Warriors of Hope on her side, and all the while keeping up appearances as a member of Class 78. A class who were implied in the DR1 photos to be abnormally tightknit by Hope's Peak standards, like Class 77-B was with Chisa and Chiaki.
I've seen plenty of headcanons for how she'd go about it. And yes, stuff like the Twilight Syndrome incident could help things. But that only applies to about a third of the class. And overall just about every explanation I've heard treats Junko and Class 77-B like they exist in a vacuum. With none of the other people at school noticing that anything is off. Which is just nonsensical. DR0 shows a lot of the events right before the Tragedy from the perspective of people like Kyoko, Yasuke, Makoto, and Jin. And NOBODY seems to think there's something kind of off about Class 77-B, or brings up that Junko seems to spend a strange amount of time around them. Makoto of all people would be just the kind of person to try and bond with some of his senpais. And the Ultimate Detective not seeing any signs of bizarre cult-like behavior among the school's students is pretty absurd.
Not to mention that it requires that while they're still at school the Remnants never behave in such a way that's counterproductive to Junko's plans. Like Teruteru is briefly alluded to in DR0. Now am I really expected to believe that someone like him, who presumably would already be part of Junko's cult that late into the timeline, wouldn't already be doing some fucked up shit? Like increasingly creepy sexual harassment or violent mood swings? Same for people like Hiyoko, Nekomaru, Akane, Ibuki, and so on. This premise requires them all to be good little robots and rein in the Despair antics until after the riots spiral out of control. That's a level of subtlety that many in Class 77-B just don't have.
And finally...I'm sorry, but no. You can't have it both ways. You can't have the Remnants be fully responsible for carrying out their misdeeds of their own free will. And then have them be rehabilitated and redeemed via the Neo World Program. Using targeted amnesia to rehabilitate criminals is unethical to an absurd degree. If you're going to say "These people deserve a second chance", then you're going to have to commit to doing things the hard way. Detain and rehabilitate them with their memories intact. Literally the only scenario where something as extreme as the Neo World Program would ever be remotely justifiable would be an equally extreme scenario like a subject having been subjected to literal mind control.
So yeah. That's my controversial take. I disagree with DR3's depiction, but think the Remnants being brainwashed as more than just a figure of speech is perfectly reasonable. Mainly for pragmatic reasons related to story consistency, due stuff like DR0 not only doesn't have any hint of Junko secretly running a cult, but makes a lot less sense if we assume that's going on offscreen. But also for some ideological reasons too. Plus the alternative requires a level of competence and manipulative brilliance that it wildly inconsistent with what Junko showed in DR1. There is no way that someone who could convert all of Class 77-B with the constraints listed above in such a short timeframe, would be so easily thwarted by stuff like Sakura's sacrifice and Makoto's rallying speech at the end. In fact Class 78 should have all gone completely mad after a year in isolation with her if she was as brilliant as some fans hype her up to be.
OK WAIT NO NO NO i didnt mean to imply that junko should like. Run a cult or something. i agree with all of these points, i think that TOO personalized of manipulation would be unrealistic. the way dr3 did the brainwashing seemed lazy and anticlimactic for junko but also junko is smart and wouldnt put in all that unnecessary work for a class she doesnt care about.
youre right that brainwashing and mind altering does consistently show up throughout danganronpa, but i do also really really wish we couldve seen it be pulled off in a slightly more personalized manner. i used mikan as an example in that post but i didnt mean to imply i wanted them to show junko doing that to like. Everyone. i just personally wish they wouldve taken the “the brainwashing takes advantage of your personal desires and hopes” thing a bit farther somehow. like elaborated a little more
i dont have a clear vision of how danganronpa 3 shouldve ended. i think i’d be a lot more on board with the brainwashing if theyd just. Done it a little better, made it more climactic, made the scene more intense or something idk. it’s just so obvious to me that dr3’s ending (and dr3 as a whole but especially the ending) really seemed rushed and careless. we BARELY even get to see the remnants while theyre despaired, with the exception of komaeda. which SUCKSSSS SO BAD i wish they couldve at least incorporated THAT. like for dr being about the apocalypse we dont really get to see much of. The Apocalypse. outside of udg.
and ohhh yeah the forcefully inducing amnesia on a criminal thing is a point i never even considered. youre totally right there i have no comments to add about that
To Conclude. it does make sense that the brainwashing had to be done and i do admit that it is consistent with dr. But Also. It was Anticlimactic and the way they wrote it seemed half assed to me

Fic Writer Interview
Thanks @risingsoleil for the tag💕
How many works do you have on AO3?
34
What's your total word count?
140,063
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
A Lazy Winter Morning
I'm Bored, Let's Fuck
Your Electric Touch
Say It
A Spark in the Dark
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes! You took time out of your day to pick my silly little fic to read and left a comment? That means the world to me.
Plus fandom is to be an interactive and supportive community. Being able to connect with someone who's read what I wrote is an exciting feeling and I want to be able to express my appreciation.
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
Angsty and ambiguous endings, my beloved
Say It. Still in progress, but characters are currently in a limbo of will they/won't they 😬
Kiss Me, Kill Me and Shinishi of the Deep both have elements of vague horror I had fun writing.
What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
Cinnamon Spice Bliss. A fic of fluffy one shots
A Lazy Winter Morning. Tender morning sex is so sweet
Fox Cat v. One. It is terribly hard trying to get off your pet's shit list 😅
Do you write crossovers?
No. I have a vague LOK and Fruits Basket crossover idea and there was fan comic of that was a crossover of LOK and MHA I saw that was cool. There's potential, but I don't think it would be something I could pull off.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
If I have, it's not been to my face. I'm lucky to be in a small bubble of very kind people
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes? I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone in writing it. I think I've done better in writing the tension and buildup, alluding to it, not necessarily writing it explicitly.
As to what kind… ???
I don't know, it all depends on the context and pair. Usually soft and romantic, I guess.
Have you had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware of.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope!
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Never have I ever.
What's your all-time favorite ship?
Well I have several! Irosami, Linzin, EraserMic, and Ryuvira my darlings
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
I have every intention to finish my WIPs. Will take me a while, but I'll get there. Count on it and keep me honest 🫵🏾
What are your writing strengths?
Hmm pass.
What are your writing weaknesses?
I think it may come off as boring? Writing is hard.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
This isn't something that I've done and the thing with it is how in some fics it is clear the author used GoogleTranslate for the dialogue. The problem with that is the dialogue doesn't come across as natural. Oftentimes it may not be the best phrasing a native speaker would use. If I was working on a fic where I thought it could add a creative flair to the story, I would reach out to someone who is more fluent in the language or do some research on my own instead of an online translator.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Legend of Korra
What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
For the time being, I want to keep my writing to Legend of Korra and My Hero Academia. As with ships, the thing I like about these shows is how big the casts are, especially MHA, so you can do all sorts of combinations to get all the sparkly brained rare pairs lol
For Legend of Korra I want to try Amon/Kuvira. And My Hero Academia, Miruko/FatGum aka ChubbyBunny. They have the cutest ship name for a rare pair
What's your favorite fic you've written?
I'm not picking just one, so I'm shouting out some of my faves
Kiss Me, Kill Me
Your Electric Touch
Say It (WIP)
Breathe Me Back to Life
No pressure tagging @wangsfires @oldandirrelevant and anyone else interested!

Writer 20 questions
I was tagged by @ninjasawakenedmystar so thank you very much!!
How many works do you have on AO3?
I have 152!
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
414,513
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Mostly The Flash, Krypton, Legend's of Tomorrow, Miyagi-verse, and Ace Attorney. Ones I've written less fics for are Supergirl, Agents of SHIELD, Thor, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel the Series, Diagnosis Murder, Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, Robin of Sherwood, Once Upon a Time, Merlin, The Witcher, X-Men and Stupid Mario Brothers.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
i can't give you my heart (because it's already yours) - Olivarry
how (not) to flirt - Olivarry
what does this mean (it means i love you) - Olivarry
why don't you just (listen to your heart) - Thallen
home is where (my heart is) - Olivarry
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Always!!! I love the interaction with my fans!
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
a god's reflection - my Loki centric fic set between Thor 1 and 2 which ends with Loki convinced he'll never leave his cell and that no one cares anyway
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
That's difficult to choose, given most of my flufftober entries have very happy endings.
8. Do you get hate on your fic?
No on AO3 so far - back in my FFN days I did get a message on my Superman Returns fanfiction where I was accused on not caring about the fic because I hadn't updated it...for two months, and it was awful especially because I was struggling with very bad anxiety at the time and shockingly, this did not lead to me continuing the story (in fact I all but gave up on it)
9. Do you write smut?
Nope! I read it, sometimes, depending on the characters, but only sometimes - mostly I just find it very awkward and the one time I tried something even remotely smutty it killed off any desire to have the two characters get together anyway (which is a good thing to find out early on but also very funny, likke an idea I'd had for years and it just evaporated). But mostly it's the awkwardness - I'll allude to it and sometimes directly refer to it, but no, I'm not a smut writer.
10. Do you write crossovers?
So far no.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not so far as I'm aware, and it would be gutting to find out otherwise.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic?
No.
14. What‘s your all-time favourite ship?
I have too many ships to choose from!!
15. What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I hate the idea of giving up on any of my fics, but...I do fear for The Emilie Brooke Adventures. Like the inspiration flares up every so often (normally when I'm watching Doctor Who) but nothing comes with it, and also I'm just...in a very different place from when I started it. Like originally Emilie was older than I was, and then we were the same age, and now I'm older and just...looking at this seventeen-year-old and thinking 'you should not have to deal with all this', and while I try and remind myself that this is a fanfic, it doesn't always work. Plus my disillusionment with the Moffat era in general - this fic initially appeared when Series 6 was airing and I thought it was going to go somewhere...and it never delivered. And I'm not quite sure how I can deliver.
16. What’s your writing strengths?
Character interaction, emotional hurt/comfort, and introspection.
17. What’s your writing weaknesses?
Sometimes dialogue flows but other times I really struggle with it.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Well, on the rare occasions I did I used Google Translate, only finding out years later that it was garbage, so I tend to try and find more accurate websites - something I plan to do for when I write my Old Guard fic (just how do you yell for help in Spanish?). But generally I don't tend to have more than a few phrases unless it's going to be important to the plot.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Super Mario Brothers!
20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?
I'm proud of most of my fics, but one I really love is i will stand by you (i will help you through), my Buffyverse AU where Angel doesn't fight Riley in 4x20 and instead recognises him as a young man in pain AKA the sort of person Angel helps, and the slow path of their friendship. It took months to actually get finished - because two other characters ended up playing a bigger part than intended - but I just really loved it because I genuinely wish they had done something interesting with Angel and Riley, like there was potential there but no, let's have them fight because that's never been done before, like come on.
Tagging (no pressure): @shrinkthisviolet @lady-of-the-spirit @dream-beyond-the-fantasy @seek--rest @abcd-em @secondclassfangirl @cyclone-rachel @kitkatt0430 @fezwearingjellybananas and anyone else who wants to do this!

Okay so I saw the meta post regarding the Metatron, the book of life, and the looping reality. I unfortunately can't find it again quick enough to add this to the post.
Edit: I found it! And added it to the top.
It's not the first post like it and it won't be the last. I admit I'm not the biggest fan of it but it does make good points and is quite convincing except in one regard where it always rubs me the wrong way.
Maggie.
There's a lot of speculation that she isn't real or that she's the Metatrons puppet but I don't believe that to be the case for a couple of reasons.
Number 1 was pointed out by someone on Twitter. The birds on her sweaters are Swallows which have the symbolism of free will.
Number 2 is the spelling mistake. I honestly believe anytime we see a spelling mistake it's actually a show of free will. Muriel said something interesting. That angels don't make mistakes. That to error is to be human.
The first Angels to make mistakes were cast out as Demons and if Satan wasn't trying so hard to emulate God then I believe we would be seeing a very different Hell. But this is a whole tangent on its own.
Back on the subject. In the meta post(s) it also points out the spelling mistake on the wannabe thug in the graveyard. Alluding to them being written in by the Metatron but that doesn't make sense to me. Why would it write in some wannabe thugs and allow Aziraphale to make this phone call to Crowley? Especially if the end goal is to separate them. I would think eliminating moments where Aziraphale and Crowley communicate would be the goal.
Which brings me to my next point. If there's anything that isn't real or is a construct made by the Metatron it's Nina's partner Lindsey. They're just like Heaven and the Book of Life. A constant looming threat in the background. The moment under the awning, that was working, would have been the moment Nina realized that Lindsey has no control over them or figured out that they aren't real. Until the awning broke and they couldn't finish their moment.
Another reason I think Nina is the one being controlled is when Nina and Maggie first interact, Nina recognizes Maggie not as skinny latte but as the record shop owner. It is not until after Gabriel shows up at Aziraphale's shop does she only remember her as skinny latte.
I believe Gabriel was bringing the Book of Life to Aziraphale so that Armageddon part 2 won't happen. What better Angel than the one that thwarted part 1 right? But the box was left outside. And if there's any substance to the theory then the moment the Metatron got its clutches on the book, it was that moment.
Wow, this is longer than I expected. 😅 If you made it through this whole thing thank you for reading.
Edit: I thought of more. There's also the ball. Nina is the only human not affected by it. And why is that? Because she's already being influenced by an Angel

20 Questions for Fic Writers!
I'm finally getting around to doing this after @professorsaber, @mythical-bookworm, and @daryfromthefuture tagged me! Sorry for the delay (it's been a week)!
Under the cut because it seems I felt the need to write my life story today as it relates to my body of fan work. :)
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
I'm currently sitting at 51.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
650,606 (of which 58K are shared with co-authors)
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Predominantly Back to the Future with a lot of Pirates of the Caribbean, Iron Man, and National Treasure in my rearview mirror. I've also contributed one-shots/ small works to 19 other fandoms over the years!
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
What to Expect When She's Expecting - (137) - Iron Man
Where You Were (Time Circuits #3) - (95) - BttF
Where You're Going (Time Circuits #1) - (72) - Bttf
Principles of Compromise - (70) - Pirates of the Caribbean
A Fracture in the Space-time Continuum - (69) - BttF
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Most definitely! I love interacting with the people who have taken the time to read and comment on my work, even if it's a simple thank you!
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Ooo hoo hoo. I might have to poll some people for this one. My first reaction would be There Are No Roads (Time Circuits #2.5), but as the ending is technically an alternate series of events, I'm not sure it counts as an official 'end'. I'm big proud of it, though, because most initial reactions were somewhere along the lines of "oh my GOD." :)
That being the case, Once Upon a Time in the West wins hands down, mostly because I didn't even see the plot twist coming until the fourth chapter of this six-chapter fic! And it delivered an epic sequel!
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Oof. Don't come at me like this; I'm just now realizing how much angst I really write because I've narrowed it down to maybe two of my Ao3 fics? Sheesh.
I'm going to go with the only 5+1 fic I've ever written, The Manner of Giving. It was five times Marty failed at giving Doc a gift, and the one time (the end) is when he succeeded.
Where You Were (Times Circuits #3) also gets a nod because it's the end of my trilogy rewrite, and I like to think I ended it on the happy note everyone deserved.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I've never gotten a scathing flame of a review, thank goodness. I did have someone ask me on FFN once why I was writing an OC for Marty when he had Jennifer in canon, and while it was tempting to just say "don't like, don't read," we ended up exchanging a mature and constructive dialogue and respectfully parted ways.
I also once, long ago, before I ever planned to seriously pursue writing, had one of my fics added to a "Worst of the Worst" fandom collection on FFN. It was a terrible fic written by an inexperienced teenager, but I still find something like that distasteful and uncalled for, mostly because, as the author, I wasn't able to remove my work from the collection. And it's still there. And I'm still mad about it. Oddly, it's ensured I hold myself to a high standard and never put anything out there that could be considered for a "Worst of the Worst" collection again. So, screw that guy, and thank you.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
No. I've never wanted a tell a story where that was essential to the story. Now, I've recently included/ alluded to more mature situations in the last year for the first time in my 20 years of writing to get me out of my comfort zone, but no graphic, extended scenes.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I have! And the craziest crossover I have is FFHQ. Imagine all the characters in all the fandoms in one giant office park drawing up contracts to appear in fics, meeting with fanfic authors, collaborating on crossovers, etc. It's a lot of paperwork, meaning each character has a secretary. That's a lot of secretaries, so there is a list of "subs" who fill in as floaters when a secretary is out, and this crazy crossover follows three OCs as they bounce around random fandoms each day. This baby is my crackfic, the idea I escaped to in those eight years of depression when I wasn't doing so hot. If you're up for it, I promise it's lots of fun!
Honorable mention goes to the BttF/Elf AU I wrote for our server's Secret Santa exchange last year: Pennies From Heaven.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
*inserts Ben Affleck smoking meme*
Yes. And it's… I'm just very over this form of "flattery".
When I was still in high school, I was writing a pretty successful National Treasure fic when a reader told me they found the story on another site. The person who stole it was writing author notes at the beginning, like "Find out what happens to them next time! I've got great stuff in the works!" I emailed that website, and they kindly took it down and banned that user.
Last year, I had someone on Wattpad steal the Time Circuits Series, rename it the "Flux Capacitor Series", and switched out Emma's name with "Dawn". Two things that had me cackling: When I have Marty call Emma "Em," Marty was calling Dawn "Da," and you could see several places where Emma's name wasn't backspaced all the way out of the text. I confronted the "author", and they wisely took it down, telling me it was just so hard to write it themselves. You bet your ass I have this person still on my alerts list to keep an eye on them, and once a month, I am searching Wattpad for my own fics.
Novel HD/ Novel WW also stole Time Circuts off Wattpad for their website, scrubbed my name from it so that it said it was written by "Anonymous", and put the stories behind paywalls. I caught wind of this about a quarter of the way into the last story and took everything I had off Wattpad. I saved the links but they no longer work, and I can't even access the website anymore. I'm not sure if it's gone or if, because it is a foreign site, they somehow blocked our region from accessing it.
I also had FictionHunt take all of my stuff off FFN! It took several months, but I finally got them to remove my stuff from their site. I might not have minded so much if they had asked me, but that's too hard, I suppose.
There was one website called MovieFanficChains way back in 2005 I gave permission to to host my PotC fics, but aside from FFN and Ao3, that the only place with my permission to have my stuff.
If you see my work elsewhere and it has not been linked back to me, let me know. I'll do the same for you. :)
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I know of.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I've done a few roleplays with @daryfromthefuture, where I wrote for Doc and she wrote for Marty. Our most well-known roleplay-turned-fic would be the 1885 scarlet fever sickfic Lean on Me (When You're Not Strong).
I've also been part of the silly blind writing game in our Discord server aptly named Back to the Future: Discord.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
I don't know. This is hard. I'm a romantic, and I make the excited Andy Dwyer face every time a ship is hinted at. I have so many I love, but the mainstream ones that immediately come to mind are Tony/Pepper (Iron Man), Sherlock/Molly (BBC Sherlock), Jamie/Brienne (Game of Thrones), and Reylo (Star Wars).
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I wrote a National Treasure story in high school called Another Clue, and it was one of my first real attempts at an OC insert. It did fairly well, given my talents at the time; I incorporated an OC, but I focused on crafting a canon-like treasure hunt more, and a lot of people complimented that.
So I started a sequel, One More Clue. It built a bigger story around the first, highlighting a treasure hunt that required the help of a rival and two friends seemingly trying to out-betray one another. I got about 12 chapters and 69K into One More Clue before life took over. I last updated it on June 1, 2010, and I left it at quite the cliffhanger with Riley turning Ben into the FBI only to learn the FBI guy was working for the rival and UGH, I keep meaning to go back to it. I have all the notes!
The problem is, I would have to rewrite Another Clue at this point because it's a hot high schooler's mess. You could tell as I wrote One More Clue that I was applying what I was learning from my writing classes in college. While Another Clue didn't have that luxury, it showcases some strengths that compelled me to pursue a writing major (AKA I can make a decent history-driven treasure hunt).
So, while I could finish One More Clue if I really wanted to, it would be pointless unless I overhauled Another Clue first. Which I've thought about. Because National Treasure is my guilty pleasure. I'm just fairly certain no one would be around to appreciate it if I put all that work in now. :)
16. What are your writing strengths?
I've consistently been told it's dialogue, and I find myself agreeing with that. The single lines of dialogue that turn a whole story on its head or tell a whole story of their own are what I live for.
This is the DUMBEST example, but there is an episode of Spongebob Squarepants where Mrs. Puff is freaking out because she gave Spongebob his boating license just to finally get him out of her class, and she's spiraling. She arrives at "I'll have to change my name, move to another city, and open another boating school!" or something like that.
And then her voice just goes dead flat and her eyes narrow and she says, "No. Not again."
And I lose it every time! But you know there's a WHOLE story there just by that little bit of dialogue! I love that! And I love implementing it where I can, whether it be in a comedic or dramatic setting.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I'm wordy. When I give myself a word count goal for a project, it inevitably goes over, but it gets shaved down some in editing.
Thankfully, I got a hard lesson in this in one of my college writing classes. I turned in a prose-y poem I was quite proud of, and in the next class, the professor handed out copies to everyone. We proceeded to workshop (i.e. destroy) my work, whittling the word count down by half when it was all said and done. And while I was mortified at the time, I've since thanked my professor a few times for that day. That one lesson lives in my brain every day, and I am right back in that classroom every time I edit a work, trying to figure out what the most succinct wording is, what is un/necessary, and how to play with my line breaks. Criticism is daunting but so, so worth it if you can find the courage to apply it!
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I did this for the first time in Once Upon a Time in the South. I have a headcanon that Buford's baby momma is a Spanish actress at a small theater in Pine City, and he had to get something from her. This woman speaks very little English, and it was a challenge to stay true to that because (a) I don't speak Spanish and (b) my brain just struggles a lot with foreign language translations. Me being me, I wanted the most accurate and realistic translations I could get, ones that didn't sound too formal. Then you add in the fact that it's 1893, so there's a time-period language barrier, too. Ultimately, I'm happy with the end result, but I don't see myself going out of my way to do this again.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Pirates of the Caribbean! What a fantastic playground in which to practice storytelling! What really got me hooked on this "I might try writing for real one day" thing was listening to the writer's commentary on The Curse of the Black Pearl DVD when I was 15.
Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio gave excellent insight to this story I was enamored with and how they came up with it! "We had Sparrow and Swann, so we figured we shouldn't give Will a bird name" cracked me up. They covered everything — what challenged them, what rules ("guidelines") they stuck to ("leave the kiss for the end"), stuff like that. But what lit me up was hearing the entire backstory while the credits rolled, about how Barbossa was Jack's first mate until Barbossa committed mutiny and all that jazz. There was so much story to the story! That was a big, big day that influenced me. :)
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
Oh, gosh. This is tough because the favoritism depends on the reason!
I'll forever love Principles of Compromise because after abandoning it several chapters from the end and not touching it for eight years, it was the first story I came back to and finished before returning to the Time Circuits Series. It was the first plot-heavy story with canon characters I attempted and completed (most of my works up until that point had been rewrites or headlined OCs). Finishing it was the stepping stone to all the writing I've since completed (30-some works)!
Favorite all time though? I'm a mom; you can't just ask me to pick a favorite kid, and this is just as mean. :)
(But for real, it's probably a tie between There Are No Roads (Time Circuits #2.5) and Once Upon a Time in the East )
Tagging @retro-hussy, @jowritesfanfiction, @writingwife-83, and anyone else who wants to play!
Thank you so much for tagging me, friends!! I don't know why, but I love doing these! Sorry again it took so long for me to get to. ❤️

Dangerous Romance – Episode 5 – Spoilers!
1 / 4 Frog incoherently semi-liveblogs
Oooooh, he does not know why Sailom is staying with them? That means Kanghan did not ask for this?
Okay, Granny is certifiably unhinged! Kanghan did not even want her to do this and she... what? Took one look at how her grandson behaves around this boy and though: Better make sure he stays where I can see him?
Oh no. Why are we still proving things to dad? Dad's not going to give us what we want. I don't like this. Get over your father's approval, baby boy. The sooner you do that, the happier you'll be with your cute tutor and amazing (if insane) grandmother.
Lol to Kanghan nodding like he gets it. Does he get it? Because I don't! I don't think she explained anything at all. But if I were Kanghan, I wouldn't look a gifthorse in the mouth. Something something good university means the boy I have been crushing on hard for forever stays with us? Fine by me.
Tumblr media
Do you Kanghan, do you? Because I don't! But what do I know.
Tumblr media
OMG Kanghan! That is not what she alluded to. But trust baby boy to get this wrong. Sure you don't love him, sure. Despise him my ass. Despise how much you like him.
Oh my God! Sailom! What are you doing, starting a pillow fight? I love the cohabitation phase!
Also, is this the guest room Sailom will be staying at? That thing is huge! And of course is has a new, giant, curved TV. When we saw one of those old, clunky, giant ones on Sailom's and Saifah's home. I like the comparisons.
Kanghan's cute little “whooo” made me smile – and Sailom too.
Tumblr media
Okay, this is two steps too far into cringe territory for me to still enjoy. But it's cute. I get what they are trying to establish. Levity and fun between our leads and for that, I love the series. So many shows fail to show the two main characters actually enjoying their time together and I really like that we get this here, even if the execution is a bit much for me.
Tumblr media
Oh look at that. Sailom catching on to what he's doing. Wiggling around on a bed with the boy he might or might not have a crush on. Yeah, this is all more than a little suggestive. I am betting five bucks though that they are still too shy to do anything about it.
Lol, Kanghan looks disappointed. Well, baby, maybe you should do something about it then. But he's shy as well. So we have two shy boys dancing around each other, neither daring to make the first move now that they can't “hate kiss” each other any longer.
I'm happy Sailom thinks of his new living situation as an improvement. I still think it's weirdly invasive of grandma and also, what about our boy Saifah? But I'm happy for Sailom.
Yeah, Kang? What secret? Surely they did not put him in the dead mother's room? Is Kang trying to tell him a ghost story to make him scared?
Awww, they have adjoining rooms. And they share a bathroom? … what was that room initially? I mean, this works out great for Kang now that his cute little tutor is in there. But usually? Does he have to share his bathroom with every guest that stays over? That seems annoying.
Ten bucks on one of them walking in on the other while showering. I am calling it now!
Ah, Sailom caught on to the shower dilemma!
What is this about the bag? Grandma cut up a t-shirt of Kanghan's (who is still wearing shirts with cutesy dogs on it when all we have ever seen him is black and sport's clothes?) and then sewed that onto Sailom's old bag? A woman as wealthy as this even knows how to fix stuff? I am calling weird BL logic on this one!
Uh oh, daddy's home. Does he know about the tutoring situation? Was he just cool with this random boy staying in his house?
And here we go with him once again discouraging his son from doing too well. What a jackass move.
Lol, Grandma out here spilling all the beans. Poor Kanghan.
That little smirk! Sailom knows. The boy knows!
Tumblr media
Sailom, why are you shouting so much in the joined bathroom?! (Also, I am not going to go into how Sailom has money problems but still somehow owns an iphone but...)
Saifah?! Oh my God, no! You did not just encourage your little brother to steal! Oh my God. Terrible! Terrible, terrible move. Two points deducted from the best big bro scale. Terrible!
Okay, we already get the shared bathroom scene. But... uhm... Kang? Maybe showing yourself peeing is not the way to win over a boy's heart. Just a suggestion.
Tumblr media
Yeah, I get you, Sailom. I get you. That is way too much information way too fast! There's being comfortable in your body and then there's just being too comfortable!
Tumblr media
Blush? Kang, really, honestly, not wanting to see someone's dick while they're peeing has very little to do with being shy and blushy and everything to do with too much information!
And now he's taking off his shirt? And he has not washed his hands yet! I wanna shake him. Shake him! This is a terrible way to flirt. If this works on Sailom... they deserve each other. Dumbass for dumbass behaviour, honestly.
Kang. Boy. What are you doing? This is so... I don't even know. I'm getting the impression he's never flirted with anything ever and he's going about it the dumbest way possible.
.. is he undressing?! Is he undressing?! Oh my God. I want to shake him! What is he doing?! Also, Sailom, how important is it to brush those teeth? Just get out of there.
Finally! Sailom decides to get out of there like he should have five minutes ago.
Tumblr media
Honestly, at this point, I just want to beat Kanghan with a broom. Why does he have to be so weird about this? He could have gone about this so much more smoothly. I mean, they share a bathroom. Surely he could have timed him coming out of the shower at the right moment if he wanted to show Sailom his body that much.
Tumblr media
The offer! Of course Sailom knows better than to take him up on that! And he is an ass, Sailom. I am with you on that! But look at his find little smile. I can't stay mad (and neither can Sailom).
Tumblr media
Sailom? What are you doing? Don't go into another growing boy's room late at night unannounced? If you can't handle seeing him in boxer shorts you are not ready for what you might see there.
Oh thank God, he has half a brain cell and at least decides to knock.
He's not knocking? Is he not going in? What is the problem anyway? Why can't he sleep? But it is kind of sweet that his first instinct was to seek out Kang. Even if he lost his nerve halfway through.
Awww, baby. Was he really going to the bus when Kanghan was about to be driven when they had the same way to school? Oh Sailom. I want to hug him.
Oh sure, grandma wants him to go with Kanghan. Uh huh. Sure.
And there we go again with Kanghan unnecessarily touching Sailom. It's a thing. Not that I'm complaining.
Tumblr media
Lol to the phone and Kang just grabbing it. He is such an entitled gremlin! Gimme, gimme, gimme!
Oh my god, what is he doing? Screaming into his ear? Biting him? Kang, seriously, you gotta tone it done several notches.
But Sailom ends up giggling. So I guess it's fine.
Tumblr media
And now they are arguing about who likes the song better. Children, I tell you. Children! But that somehow leads into them singing (a love song!!) together so... it's cute? Also, a moment of silence for the poor driver who has to endure all the sillyness.
Instance no. 5632 of Kanghan unnecessarily touching Sailom and now fussing over his bagpack too.

I have nothing to currently watch, so yeah I went back to Grey's Anatomy. I didn't finish it and the cast has a funny scenes. I don't need to explain myself.. but I will 😭
☆: I watched Calliope downfall 😭 unfortunately and I hated what her character became. She used to be so fun. She's a shell of what she once was.
☆: Stephanie grew on me, I didn't care about her during my season 1 to season 10 watch, she's such a fun character and I love how she's everyone's favorite resident. She made season 13 very enjoyable for me.
☆: I feel I had nothing really to say about Owen and Amelia, I don't like either character. I felt bad none of her family showed up to the wedding.
☆: the dead Derek jokes were funny.
☆: I didn't really cry for Derek, I cried for Meredith losing her husband, and people losing their friend. It was more so teary-eyed, then actual crying.
☆: Maggie losing her mom was sad.
☆: found out about the beef with Nathan, Meredith and Maggie. Maggie said she liked him, but by the time she told Meredith, Meredith had already slept with Nathan multiple times. They should have been adult about it and just been like we had a thing, instead of having Maggie looking stupid.
☆: The April and Jackson episode that shows their beginning and end was sad. I didn't expect that for their story. I'm pretty eh to both characters like April is an amazing doctor and I love when she yells at people.
☆: I already spoke somewhat about it, but Alex beat the fuck out of Andrew, like so much so that he could have lost his eye sight, and the characters felt bad for Alex?? Not the young student that was there to learn. Yes, these actors look the same age, but the character is younger then Alex and should have been protected. Yes. Alex assumed the worst however Jo told him to stop and Andrew wanted to explain.
☆: I haven't reached that season yet, but I don't get how Andrew would date Meredith after that. She's the ride or die for the man that almost went to jail for beating the fuck out of you.
☆: She should have dated Link..
☆: kind of fucked up how they killed both of Meredith love interest off. I hope she's not experiencing any sort of trauma from that.
☆: I enjoyed season 13 for Stephanie Edward's, she is the best resident. She reminded me of Christina the most. She focused on the work. Ben and Jo always had something else going on so they weren't always 100%
☆: Ben was annoying for not realizing the privilege he gets for being the chiefs husband.
☆: the old man jokes about Ben are so funny.
☆: He does a lot though, on greys anatomy and station 19 like chill.
☆: as much as I liked Nathan and Meredith, I get that the Meredith’s actress did not and I understand why they had Megan come back.. though I think it’s weird they made her get back with Nathan just to have them break up again.
☆: I feel like Maggie doesn’t get that even though Meredith is her sister, she’s not entitled to everything. Like when That Andrew| |Alex thing happened and Meredith said she didn’t know anything about it . It makes sense that Meredith wasn’t going to tell Maggie the person who had a thing with Andrew, what went down. Because I don’t think she has any really strong ties with anyone at the hospital especially not Alex. so obviously she wasn’t going to protect him from the cops.
☆: everyone is getting therapy but Owen… Alex could probably also use some
☆: how many times has Owen been married? Like 5?!? He needs to quit being a doctor and go find himself somewhere else. He needs to stop marrying doctors.
☆: it’s kind of weird, Maggie and Jackson don’t try to be like “we’re family.” Or anything. I mean Maggie calls Amelia for sister but then there’s nothing for Jackson. Like for Jackson this is his first sibling. I know the show is setting them up and them saying anything or even almost sorting alluding to the fact that they’re sort of siblings aka family is gross. Like they’ve been step siblings for two seasons and yet here they are episode 23 season 13 talking about sex. I’m just so uncomfortable. If Jackson and his mom both die and then Richard dies, does Maggie not get the Avery empire? Or does Richard have to legally claim her for that? Also none of the cast has teased them about being siblings..
☆: with Meredith she was like “I’m your sister. Pick me. Choose me.” And with Jackson it’s like 🤷🏾‍♀️😍
☆: if anyone on Grey’s Anatomy deserved a hero episode, I’m glad it went to Stephanie. She deep fried a r*pist. Saved herself and a little girl. Good 4 her.
☆: I wish they showed more of Nathan and April’s friendship.
☆: I’m happy with the ending Stephanie got but I wish she would have at least finished her residency. She was almost done and now all that hard work is gone. Unless are they allowed to pick up where they left off?
I said I wasn’t going to watch anymore yet here I am. Stephanie became a favorite character. I only watched season 13 for her episodes in all honesty.

Humanized Warriors: Lionblaze
This guy. I want him to be a good character, but his canon arc is just so bland. ):
So I realized, "actually I can do something about this" and worked to give him a concrete arc and personality in this AU. I kind of see it as a "fix-it" AU, but something of my own creation where I have the ultimate say on what can make a character or the story interesting.
Essentially I've....stolen 1400+ characters. I'm wanted in 10 states. u_u
▲ Lionblaze
Name: Leonard “Leo” Samson Hayes | Jaeger
Clan: Sect of Thunder | ThunderClan
Rank: Warrior
Birthday: March 30th, 1959 (Aries; Fire Sign)
[Lionblaze is a fire sign, signifying his role in the prophecy by being born on the 30th, signs Firestar was looking for. Lionblaze is the middle child, and he and Jayfeather almost died. Lionblaze got stuck and they spent all night until he was born in the early morning.]
[Lionblaze was born in a cabin in the Cascades in Washington just outside Diablo at 5:37 pm, making him an Aries Rising. Aries is a fiery sign, its planet being Mars. Mars is associated with sports, meat, guns, aggression, anger, head, iron, soldier, warrior, hate, and passion, which fits Lionblaze’s personality.]
Current Age: 138 years and 11 months (as of end of Thunder) | Looks 60.31 years
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Height: 195 cm (6’4”*)
Weight: 240 lbs (108.9 kg)
Ancestry: 43.75% Japanese, 29.29% English, 12.5% Irish, 9.38% Chinese, 4.69% German, 0.39% Scandinavian
Description: Lionblaze has a large, muscular frame with broad shoulders, massive feet, and a rectangular face. He has light skin with neutral undertones that stays tanned and a tiny, faded scar by his ear. He has thick, short, bright golden hair that darkens a bit at the roots. He has hooded, bright amber eyes. His favorite piece of clothing is his leather jacket with fur on the trim that gives him a “ruff” around his neck.
Immediate Family
Adopted Mother: Squirrelstar
Adopted Father: Brambleclaw
Biological Mother: Leafpool
Biological Father: Crowfeather
Brother: Lionblaze
Sister: Hollyleaf
Half-brother: Breezepelt
Adopted Brothers: Alderheart, Juniperkit
Adopted Sisters: Sparkpelt, Dandelionkit
Wife: Cinderheart
Sons: Fernsong, Snaptooth
Daughters: Sorrelstripe, Hollytuft
Children: Spotfur, Flywhisker
Name Meanings and Decisions
Leonard means "brave lion", derived from the Germanic elements lewo "lion" (of Latin origin) and hard "brave, hardy. Lionblaze was named Leonard because he fought like a lion to survive, Leafpool said. Leonard in particular alludes to both his prefix and personality. He prefers to be called Leo, Leonard just sounds like an old man's name to him.
Samson is from the Hebrew name שִׁמְשׁוֹן (Shimshon), derived from שֶׁמֶשׁ (shemesh) meaning "sun". Samson alludes to his prefix “blaze”. Samson was also an Old Testament hero given exceptional strength by God. I think Firestar knew by then after the Eclipse conflict that Lionblaze had powers. Together his names mean “brave lion of the sun”.
He changed his last name to his grandfather’s after Hollyleaf ‘died’. He wanted to change it to Cinderheart’s upon marriage but she was adamant there were way too many Ericksons in her family tree. However, the Hayes line would go on to multiply too.
Additional Notes:
Leafpool is 5'4", and Crowfeather 5'11", so where does Lionblaze get his height from? The answer is Deadfoot. He was a whopping 6'5", easily sticking out in the 19th century where most people were shorter than today's average. He'd still stick out in the modern era.
Lionblaze has neither Leafpool or Crowfeather's build, instead inheriting Sandstorm's stocky build. Between Hollyleaf, who looks more like Crowfeather, and Jayfeather, who looks more like Leafpool, Lionblaze is squarely in the middle.

20 Questions
thanks for the tag! @displayheartcode
tagging @takearisk-ao3, @corneliaavenue-ao3 + anyone else who'd like to participate :)
How many works do you have on AO3?
40 little bitty bits of my brain
2. What's your total AO3 words count? 73,518
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Mainly HP, but I've been dipping my toe into RWRB.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
i think he knows (he doesn't) (shoutout to RWRB popularity)
just the (three) of us (the people love canon and sometimes I oblige)
you are beautiful (sweet bi-racial Hallie learning self love in 90s britain as a witch)
Crazy Little Thing Called Love (a personal favorite) (everyone lives but Hallie's still a hot mess sometimes)
oh, and it kills me (first story for several sunlit daylights!!!!)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try my best to respond to every comment. I love external validation, but also love hearing how people have interpreted what i've written out of the little ideas that come into my head. It's very exciting and I've always been a fan of community so to share that with people in the comments is really special to me. I've admittedly been kind of bad at it because life was really "life-ing" but now that I'm on the other side of my mental breakdown I'm trying to get back into writing and engaging with people :)
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
oh - you mean the story that wasn't supposed to have any follow up?
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
uh.....i think all have fairly happy endings idk if I can pick one that's happier than any other? maybe Crazy Little Thing Called Love?
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I got a sorta mean comment on FFN so I stopped uploading on there because why you gotta be mean to Hallie? What'd she do to you?
9. Do you write smut. If so what kind?
I've alluded to it. But I'm frankly terrified to write it. Love to read it though lmao
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I do not
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware of
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but if anyone feels moved to do so, I'm just a DM/comment away!!!!
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
I have not. I'm just a baby (fanfic writer)
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Hinny
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
there are way too many that I may never get to, but never say never I guess. Once I finish 'Chaos' there might be time for a lot of the other Hinny fics I have thoughts about.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I answered 17 first so, in the opposite vein while I want to write more prose I do like my ability to get to the damn point sometimes. Like, in the last line game I just did a lot of people really like "Whoever said falling in love made you feel at peace, lied." and like I think that's really powerful and sets the stage for what I want to convey emotionally for the rest of the fic?? idk. I'm really bad at celebrating me and seeing my strengths.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?'
is it a cop-out to say: "lots of things"? I'm obviously my biggest critic and I am constantly working to get better with things in terms of pacing, story arcs, and description, I love reading prose/flowery writing and I want to be able to sprinkle that into my works but I'm a flowery(?) person by nature (I'm working on my whole mindset on things needing to be productive to be "worth it") so if one day i can spend a paragraph or two just describing a single moment and gut punch someone I'd love to be able to do that.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I tend to not do it just because slang, grammar, dialects are all different and I'd be damned if I mess up and say something totally outta pocket lol
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Harry Potter
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
the two weddings and an owl funeral universe (RIP Pig)

please don’t take this the wrong way but i feel like it’s a little much to say someone was “being an idiot” on your post for not knowing trump was on snl. maybe i’m missing something, but it seems like an honest mistake, and it’s not like they were disagreeing with the original sentiment.
actually i don't think it's too much to ask that if you're going to say something with so much confidence that you feel your contribution is important enough to add to the text of a reblog, then you should first make sure what you are saying is factually correct. perhaps, as the #1 proponent of tumblr.com/new/text, my threshold for what i feel warrants an addition to an existing post is excessively high due to the sheer volume of nonsense i see on my activity page on a daily basis, but i don't feel that asking people to check that what they are saying is actually true regardless of the good intent or the honesty of the mistake is an overly harsh standard.
the number of statements that are either flat out misinformation or based on speculation and assumptions that i see presented as fact on a daily basis is at best exhausting and at worst really fucking alarming so literally all i ask is for people to just make sure you know what you are talking about before you say things with your whole chest on the internet. you literally do not have to add your own Take to posts particularly if you don't know what you're talking about and are just going to make your "honest" assumptions publicly. you could just leave it in the tags and if other people find your contribution worthwhile they'll prev tags you or add it to the reblog chain (peer review) OR if you truly just do not know what you are talking about and are unwilling to do one (1) web search that will take you all of 5 seconds, you can literally always just not say anything.
like i think there's this sentiment that as long as someone means well, particularly if they agree with you overall, then nothing else really matters, that intentions are the most important thing, but i truly just cannot go along with that like you literally GOTTA do just a BASIC check before you just start Saying Things publicly online!!! i don't think this is too much to ask! every single day on tumblr dot com i beg people to fact check their own statements and stop basing things on assumptions and every day people tell me i'm being Too Mean :((( but i'm sorry like this is one thing i'm never going to budge on.
it's not the fact that people are sometimes wrong about facts that is the problem / the thing i think is idiotic. everyone gets things wrong sometimes and no one knows everything. it's the fact that all the time people say just easily disprovable wrong things publicly with such confidence and do not even think to check it before they type it out in a wholly unnecessary comment that they think is insightful. it's not about this one harmless mistake, it's the widespread lack of even the basic desire to check that things are true before saying them that is the behavior i am decrying here.
"but steph are you saying i have to make sure EVERYTHING i say is factually true before i say it? that's so much work!" YES that is literally what i am saying you literally should fact check everything you want to say publicly before you say it. honestly i am constantly fact checking things i THINK in my own brain because i want to make sure my stream of consciousness is based on at least factually correct foundations and not just assumptions based on something i vaguely remember knowing at one point. imo this is a habit everyone NEEDS to have in order to just like.. exist in the world today and not get fucking swallowed up by it all.
also this is not the main point here, but as i alluded to i almost always tumblr.com/new/text (unless i am specifically talking to a friend i know personally) because even if i think i have something extremely important to say in response to a post it's literally never worth annoying the op of that post with it. if you've ever had a post escape confinement then you know. no comment is worth it, tumblr.com/new/text instead.

Hi ....Do you mind if I ask your top 5 (or top 10) favorite moments from any anime (can be series or movies)? Sorry if you have already answered this ask before.....
This is an incredible ask which inherently will come with some serious spoilers! This was also really tricky trying to determine what makes something my favorite - was it the funniest? The craziest? The biggest plot twist? I used the benchmark of what moments do I wish I could watch for the very first time, all over again. I broke the difference with eight, hope you don't mind!
⚠️ Spoiler Warning covers the following series (specific benchmarks will be given) for Sk8 the Infinity, Attack on Titan, My Hero Academia, Yuri on Ice, Trigun, Fushiigi Yuugi.
SK8 the Infinity S1 E6, allusion to S1 E10
Tumblr media
Starting off light! One would assume that one of the most iconic scenes in Sk8 is the slap heard round the world but I found that more heartbreaking than anything. My favorite moment of Sk8 is easily Miya cockblocking Joe on the beach because what a flex, first of all. Secondly, the build up and subsequent (unknowing) teamwork of our favorite motley crew of skaters? 😘👌🏾 Chef's Kiss and *peak* comedy.
Attack on Titan S3 E16
Tumblr media
I could talk at length about the exquisite exposition of Attack on Titan and how each rewatch sprouts new easter eggs of foreshadowing as the world unfurls for the viewer. But the truth is, out of the entire series, the moment that I would want to rewatch for the first time is Erwin's rallying speech in Shinganshina. In addition to inspiring goosebumps and anxiety when I hear it, it is a perfect storm of emotions as concurrent events unfolding are all coming to a head. It's a wretched life and a hopeless situation made worse by the all-or-nothing corner they've been backed into. The standoff is more poignant as it's a reckoning of Erwin's own past of valiantly using others as cannon fodder if only as a means to a strategic end. A man we now know to be possessed by the obsession of proving his father right, presses forward ceaselessly while never seeing a future beyond that and we're never given the time to fully digest that. "A Perfect Game", indeed. The speech manages to be heart wrenching every time. Including when the dub pops up in my music library.
Yuri on Ice S1 E10
Tumblr media
Hot Take: Every sports anime is a BL. You cannot convince me otherwise. BUT THIS WORK OF ART!? Literally the exception that proves the rule. Episode 7 was GOOD. Like, "ohmygod-ohmygod-ohmygod, IT'S HAPPENING!" good. Episode 10 was a cultural reset ✨ and what I wouldn't give to see it for the first time all over again. From the viewer's perspective, Viktor picked up his life with one foot in a relationship when he decided to coach Yuuri. It was alluded to, hinted at, his susceptibility of Yuuri's affection should it ever be thrown his way but in an almost detached, puckish manner. A manner that frazzled Yuuri so he could never take it seriously. So what a comedy of errors to know, after finally finding a working rhythm and even exchanging rings, that Yuuri was the one who made the first move!? OMG. Iconic plot twist, truly. The bonus evidence of his champagne fueled revelry is one of my all time favorite bonus sequences.
My Hero Academia S3 E18, S6 E9 and Heroes Rising (Indirect Manga Spoiler Ch 337)
Tumblr media
Maybe a bit biased since I'm most plugged into this series at the moment (I like GIFs and only get 9 a post), but here's a treasure trove of moments! I've recently gotten my niece and nephew into MHA and rewatched everything from S1 to the current season and all movies while seeing how they digest everything. I tried to tweet about it because it's truly novel seeing things for the first time through their eyes but didn't really keep up with it. Since I'm reading the manga (and need to pick back up on posting about it), I have a renewed perspective on certain moments so see below:
Iida rallying Aoyama from the figurative edge during the provisional exam and how it inspired Aoyama to sacrifice himself so someone he perceives as noble can be slingshot across the finish line. Humorous of course since we know Iida was like a hair away from murder a season or so ago. When this last ditch effort unites the rest of Class 1A and serves as an impetus for them all to pass together? BRUH. With what we've seen of Aoyama and what we later learn, rewatching this scene actually made me a bit more emotional as it added a layer to his duress that we don't comprehend just yet.
Bakugo's hero moment which mirrored Midoriya's own hero origin story. Don't get me wrong, Bakugo is no stranger to sacrificing himself. He and Midoriya make it a habit of saving one another. But this specific moment marks itself indelibly as deliberate insight into Bakugo's character growth because we hear his thoughts in that moment which seems to mirror Midoriya's. TBH, the episode was good but reading that for the first time? Phenomenal. It felt more impactful somehow.
The final fight scene against Nine with everyone coordinating to use their quirks to the best of their abilities while knowing they were outclassed. Bakugo and Midoriya seamlessly working together and then the (non-canonical IG) transfer of OFA with Deku risking quirklessness again and Bakugo warning him against it. *Cue Sarah McLachlan-esque soundtrack.*
Trigun (OG Run) S1 E 23
Tumblr media
I slipped down the Adult Swim to Toonami pipeline of anime so Trigun was one of the first anime I fell in love with and kicked off an enduring adoration for characters voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch. Wolfwood's showdown with Evergreen and the subsequent scene at the church as he makes his peace before dying forever altered my brain chemistry. On the one hand, I loved Wolfwood's character as he played off of Vash so well, comedically. At odds but similarly aligned in the greater good though the means to the end weren't always in sync. I could appreciate the dissonance of his character, holy man who kills; unsavory priest, etc. So I would have been sad to see him go either way, but the life he imagined for himself as he was dying? Knife in the heart. Knowing that ultimately, legendary gunslinger Vash the Stampede made such a visceral impression on this ne'er do well priest, moreso than the God he served and that that was his undoing? Twist that knife, baby. That last bit I can appreciate much better as an adult where, as a kid, I could understand how moved I was without realizing the complexity of it. Truly devastating.
Fushigi Yugi S1 E33
Tumblr media
I'm realizing that a lot of my favorite characters tend to be really irreverent and rough around the edges. These very same characters tend to have compelling depth beyond their surface level brashness and character growth that stays with me. Such is the case with the graceful and beautiful Nuriko of the Suzaku warriors. As a kid and also for a series of that period, I could understand that Nuriko had a rich complexity and appreciate the relief that they were accepted wholeheartedly by Miaka and the warriors. The character was so deeply steeped in grief that it defined them and muddled their identity over the course of their life. Upon finding a new mission, they were able to come into themselves but only by slowly letting that grief go. So it is ironic that this person, shortly after finding peace in who they were, was marked for a death that would critically galvanize Miaka and the rest of the warriors to carry on and see the mission through to the very end. This episode became a core memory and I distinctly remember bawling.

yi city time travel aus you say? How do we make the rest of this form in your head? Ask questions about how that goes for everyone else from canon that might show up later is XY could keep his shit together long enough to pull this off? 🍿 👀
my problem with yi city time travel aus thus far has kind of been a combination of (a) deciding which one of the, like, six I've considered I'd want to go with actually trying to write and (b) the difficulty personally of living up to one of my personal favorite yi city fics which happens to be a time travel/time loop au (warning: big ouch). so like. it's less that I don't have thoughts about what I'd do so much as that I have too many thoughts.
well that and the 5 million existing wips I'm constantly struggling to finish, that too, because if I wrote this odds are it'd end up getting long.
one of my favorite things about a yi city time travel au specifically is that...okay, so, one of the functions of a time travel au in fandom generally is that it gives a character the opportunity to Fix Things, right? or at least to try. and generally speaking the character who is trying to Fix Things is probably somewhat involved in the main plot of the thing/invested in a main plot point (or plot points) that they'd like to see go differently.
and I've talked about before how specifically with Xue Yang it's very entertaining to me that that's not at all the case, that Xue Yang could not give less of a fuck about everything else going on around him as long as he gets what he wants. all these large scale injustices and tragedies happening and Xue Yang's here like "yeah yeah massacres and injustices and tragic deaths of important people okay but fuck that I'm just here to make sure I get mine and by that I mean get my Daozhang alive and not hating me." and sure! there are adjacent things that he will do to achieve that goal, incidental benefits that may accrue for other people (reconsidering, for instance, what to do about the Song Lan problem, maybe he doesn't actually need to kill his whole temple), but they're, you know, incidental. collateral damage, as it were! or lack of damage, if you're lucky.
there's something I just kind of love about how deeply Xue Yang doesn't care about all the other stuff that's going on. he's so endearingly myopic about it. he has his interests and that's what matters. I feel like if I wrote this one of the functions of it would be that I would, like...barely allude to canon events happening vaguely in the background, in a way where they were still happening, but maybe differently, but the narrator (Xue Yang, in this case) isn't really paying attention.
(it would have some of the same comedic value to me personally as every time I mention Xue Yang's fond memories of killing Nie Mingjue as, for him, just kind of a fun thing that happened one time. nice memory! moving right along. meanwhile for everyone else Nie Mingjue's death is a major catalyzing event and a very sad thing for a lot of people. one of my personal favorite jokes in if living can be this verse is specifically when Xue Yang is trying to figure out who he might've killed that Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian would be upset about and legitimately taking a minute to remember.)
anyway! I actually do think that Xue Yang could...potentially keep it together long enough to pull something off, anyway, if only because when Xue Yang has a project he will go a long, long ways to make it work. when Xue Yang wants something he is a persistence predator about it, for sure. he will follow that idea for hundreds of miles until it drops dead of exhaustion.
and if he has the means to time travel more than once to make multiple attempts at getting it right? god help you, now he gets to experiment.
