my brother told me about this teaser and i thought i'd do everyone a service and post it here, since it was difficult for me to get my hands on lol. this gave me GOOSEBUMPS to read!! i absolutely love the way it's written AND this kind of monster, i'm already in love. i really really hope it becomes a killer 🥺❤️

i also took the time to transcribe it under the cut. i did it fast so excuse any potential typos, i may have also added some commas, but i'd say it's 99.9% accurate lol:

I was on garbage duty. One of the boys usually offered to take care of it, but I was closing the diner alone with my friend Ashley. The cook had left an hour ago, and this was one of the last tasks we needed to take care of before we could head home.

"I'm going to grab a smoke and ask Tyler to pick me up," Ashely said, "I'll be back in a second to finish mopping."

"It's fine, I'll do it when I'm done with the garbage. It will only take a minute."

She smiled and walked out through the back door. I wasn't trying to be nice, I just wanted to leave as soon as possible. The diner was at the edge of the town and surrounded by forest. I dreaded staying around after dark. I always felt eyes watching me whenever I walked to my car.

I slung the bags over my shoulders and headed toward the back door. The dumpster was behind the diner, next to a picnic table where some of the staff sometimes took their break.

I was surprised to see Ashley wasn't there, but she sometimes paced around the diner when she was on a call. I tossed the sticky garbage bags and wiped my hands with disgust. I hated garbage duty.

I was about to head back inside when I noticed something glowing at my feet: Ashley's phone. I looked around nervously. Ashley wasn't known for pranks. I picked it up and took my own phone from my back pocket. I wasn't sure what to do -- or who to call.

I didn't have to. A voice called out from the darkness. Ashley's voice.

"Ashley, this isn't funny." I said.

I stepped into the forest. I didn't know how she had managed to navigate the trail in the dark. I had to turn on the flashlight to be able to see two feet in front of me. I let her voice guide me, but I still couldn't make out what she was saying. She sounded distant. Distorted.

"I want to go home," I insisted, "please, can we get back to the diner now?"

She either didn't hear me or pretended not to. I could tell I was close when I caught a glimpse of blonde hair in the distance.

"Hello Tyler," she said, her voice hoarse and strained.

"Is Tyler with you?" I asked, pointing the light ahead.

I could see two figures. One of them, shorter, leaned against the trunk of a tree while the other, taller, stood a little to the side. The first one must have been Ashley, but the second one looked wrong. Twisted. The torso and the legs seemed to be facing different directions, as if they could have walked toward me without ever taking their eyes off Ashley.

"I have your phone," I added.

"Hello Tyler." she said, again, but I could now see her lips never moved. Something didn't feel right.

"It's me," she started. "Can you pick -- me up," she tried, hesitant. "Me up? -- pick me -- up -- Tyler -- it's me? -- hello."

I caught a glimpse of something in the light. It looked like teeth. Too many to count. A phone rang. Not mine, but Ashley's. Tyler was calling. The tall figure shifted, and then it spoke. Its disembodied voice sounded almost exactly like my own.

"Home..." it said. "P-please."

I ran without looking back, branched tearing at my skin, sliving my arms and cheeks. I reached the diner and threw myself inside, locking the back door behind me. I waited for a thump, a crash against the door, but it never came. I stood there for a while, still clutching Ashley's phone, and before gathering enough courage to sprint to my car.

It's 3 in the morning and I don't know what to do. Tyler keeps calling Ashley's phone but I don't know what I would tell him. I want to believe this is a cruel prank, but I can still hear it now, floating softly through my window. A voice, haunting and familiar, so close to my own.

"Please," it begs, "I want to go home."

I don't write for HP anymore, but that's the majority of my fics. I have a few for the marvel universe and two weird real people fics (which now give me the ick so i won't be writing those anymore either)

The Road Not Taken (for the angst, i'm sure)

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do! not as often as i'd like but i do read them all right away, i have notifications for ao3 comments turned on. in that way, i get to enjoy them twice!

6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I have a short oneshot called Midnight about Halloween 1981 and I have another one called Where The Willow Don't Bend about Remus being a ghost at Hogwarts. I think those both end pretty angsty

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

In general, all my fics have happy endings. i go to fiction to escape the fact that almost nothing in life has a happy ending so i don't really like ending stories with anything except happiness. I really like the ending of We Can Pretend - they're in love, they get to be together, they're in Paris, their friends are all there with them, they're singing Nat King Cole to each other on a balcony while coq au vin is on the stove. fantasy scenario tbh.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

sure do. i won't list it. one thing that happens (which isn't exactly hate, but it makes me laugh) is when people criticize the fact that wolfstar are mentioned as having greys in The Road Not Taken because they're only 28/29 so they can't possibly have grey hair lol (i definitely had greys by that age, 100%)

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

yeah most of my fic is smut, but i'm sort of getting away from that. the TENSION is the best part, in my opinion.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

nah, not really interested, i guess.

I don't think so. my fics have been put up on other sites without my permission but my name was still attached to it, at least.

a few! usually DYH. it's always nice to have someone ask for permission to translate.

it used to be wolfstar (kinda soured on me for multiple reasons, the biggest one being JKR is a piece of shit and getting associated with her works is not fun)

back when i was watching Preacher, i was (still am) obsessed with Joe Gilgun, so i definitely have a Proinsias Cassidy fic in the WIPs somewhere that will never get finished, but i do go back to it from time to time because, i mean, irish vampire. give it to me.

do i have any???? people tell me i do tension well. maybe that?

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

first of all, NOT PLANNING AHEAD, figuring it out as i go and then having to go back and change a bunch of shit when i inevitably fuck it up. also, commas. i use FAR too many commas. i won't be stopped.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

i have a few fics that i have done that for. with French, with Russian, and now with Portuguese. it's difficult, Google Translate will only get you so far, but i LOVE languages so much. people will usually politely correct me

19. First fandom you wrote for?

OH TRUTH BE TOLD the Good Charlotte fandom, i am not even joking you right now. wrote an ENORMOUS self-insert fic for me and my friends with the members of Good Charlotte (i was with Benji, obviously) at the age of like 15 and the plot was SO fucking ridiculous. i mean. john mayer was there, ville valo from HIM was there (the main character had dated both of them before benji, of course). Elijah Wood was in there at some point and i think he was a murderer???? i should do a dramatic re-telling of what happens in this fic over tumblr (i will not post it, it is so so badly written)

20. Favorite fic you've written?

truthfully, i think it's Dear Your Holiness. i wrote that just after losing my grandmother and all of the conversations about faith still sort of hit me in the gut even now. plus the tension is really nice, i love the idea of a heavily tattooed Remus, and it's the music of my teenage years so it's very sentimental for that reason, too.

What was the Hello, Stranger controversy?

Hello, Stranger (or as I just found out despite owning this book in paperback, "Hello Stranger", comma is needed imo) is a Ravenels book that I honestly think is my least favorite Kleypas book I've read... which sucks! Because the heroine has an amazing name! (Garrett Gibson. God I love it. If I had a daughter I'd name her Garrett, but if I play my cards right my womb will be forever empty, so we've gotta just not do that.)

Anyway, Garrett falls in love with Ethan Ransom (another fun name, but honestly, this being a Ravenels book was soooo tangential... *SPOILER ALERT* he is a Ravenel bastard--I forget if he was West and Devon's brother or cousin, it seriously didn't check for me) who is a detective. I'll be frank. If this book was *better* I don't know if people would've clocked the issue as much. Which isn't right. But I know the romance community. They're clocking shit faster than they used to, but I think the combo of this being Lisa Kleypas and this being a weak Lisa Kleypas is what got it called out.

Smart Bitches, Trashy Books published this review which basically sums the issue up. Ethan talks to Garrett about an Indian woman he fucked while he was training to be a spy. She was a woman from Calcutta that taught him about sex and desire ("Kama".... I don't think he actually says AND THEN WE READ THE KAMA SUTRA, but anyone read this would think of it when "Kama" is mentioned) and allll the sexy shit that Exotic Women know. It's gross. It's flippant. It's dumb as shit.

Lisa then apologized publicly and pretty quickly that passage was erased from all digital copies of the book. I happen to own a (secondhand) paperback of the book that still has that scene, but from what I understand all subsequent printings have deleted it as well.

Since then (I mean, I think it's since then?) Lisa has made an effort to edit a lot of her older works. Most notably, It Happened One Autumn, which does have a scene that, yes, is genuinely problematic--but tbh, I blame her a lot less for that than I do the Hello, Stranger thing. In part because of how romance functions, and in part because of how long ago the book was published compared to Stranger--Stranger was a 2018 release while It Happened One Autumn is a 2005 release. As much as people want to pretend that we hit 2000 and everyone knew what was right and wrong in terms of sexual mores... I was 10/11 in 2005. That's not how I remember it. So Lillian getting blackout drunk and a sober Westcliff having sex with her and her being like "weeee, what a fun dream, oops it was real, oh well"... and neither Lisa nor the editor, both of whom were presumably women my mom's age clocking that as rape? Tracks. Personally, I enjoy the scene as is--I know what it is, and I'm not saying it's morally correct or anything we should do in real life, but I enjoy it as a flawed, dated piece of literature. I also think people should be able to access both the original text and the corrected version. However, Lisa and her publisher have basically been attempting to delete this kind of content--and the scene in Secrets of Summer Night when Simon kisses Annabelle without asking (just kisses!) in the dark. She has no question of who is kissing her lol. It's not a crazy scene. Similarly, the scene where Kev "kidnaps" Win as a sort of marriage ritual thing (she's totally into it) in Seduce Me At Sunrise has been edited.

What I find interesting is that all of this sexual content has been edited... But I have yet to hear anything about the problematic, fetishizing shit surrounding Cam and Kev as heroes in The Hathaways being edited. I wouldn't know--I own paperbacks of their books, and I haven't been able to read more recent paperbacks or digital copies. I actually think that Mine Till Midnight and Seduce Me At Sunrise (especially Sunrise) are, aside from that fetishistic shit, super strong romances. Like, I won't lie about that. So idk. Why hasn't that been discussed?

To me... Idk, I think that romance as a genre has a wide range of sexual content, and it should, because the genre deals with the romantic and sexual fantasies of readers, which are WIDE RANGING. I think that dark romance should be allowed to exist, and if people want to read out their rape fantasies in a safe space, then have the fuck at it. I think that I should be able to read The Fires of Winter by Johanna Lindsey, in which the hero repeatedly rapes the heroine, and say "yeah, this is bad, but it's also a part of the sexual history of the genre and I do enjoy this book".

In terms of race, the genre has a whole other thing to reckon with, and imo the power dynamics of the genre being one that has been dominated by white women for decades make it different. We as women can pick and choose what we are comfortable with in terms of the sexual content of this genre, whereas people (primarily women) of color have not been able to safely read it, for the most part. So I'd like to see people like Lisa Kleypas reckon more with things like the Hello Stranger controversy, versus people complaining about a scene in It Happened One Autumn that sure, is now recognized as problematic, but at the time was very *normal*. I honestly don't really blame her for writing that scene in 2005--there are plenty of authors that write that shit today, and the only difference is that they slap on a TW for dubcon or noncon (I'm very pro trigger warnings in romance). Her writing the fetishistic shit in the Hathaways and Hello Stranger... is a different issue. And that's what I'd like to see the whoooooole genre focus on. I honestly feel like (my fellow) white people in romance focus so hard on what is "problematic" in terms of sexual content ("I don't like dubcon! I don't like dom daddies!") that they totally gloss over the shit that is done to make authors and readers of color feel fetishized and alienated on a daily basis in the genre. And then they beat the drum and go "romance is so maligned" lmao.

All Trails Lead Me Back to You is my first fic and first completed fic ... so I guess that one. Which ... fun fact: AllTrails is an iPhone app/website that shows hiking trails. I use that app a lot and I can’t open that app without being reminded of this fic. No that was not why I named the fic that: I just had no idea what to title the fic when I posted it so I just pulled something out of my ass.

Oh we’re going to be here for ages if I fully answer this question. I’m always about two seconds from just deleting all my fic because I’m constantly disgusted by what I write lmao.

Short list: My OCs, my propensity to use a shit ton of commas, my OCs, pacing, plot progression/loose threads, the fact that I think I can put words on paper.

Now something you do like?

I do like how descriptive I can be without straying into purple prose territory. My style’s been described as pretty concise and almost everyone I’ve showed my writing to has been entertained by how I write banter. Some of my original plot ideas have been described as “Terry Pratchett-esque” which I view as high (though undeserved) praise.

LUCIFER, MAMMON, LEVIATHAN, BEELZEBUB, BARBATOS and SIMEON with an MC experiencing period cramps 

Lucifer:

In all honesty, he refuses to believe that it’s actually that bad for the longest time. People (and by people he means his brothers) fake their pain all the time to get out of doing things, so why would you be any different?

Sees you rolling around the bed, holding your stomach and groaning in pain, tears streaming down your eyes and some sick sadistic part of him actually genuinely enjoys it, but you don’t know that. 

Sighs and pulls you into his lap; daddy’s going to take care of you. In all seriousness though, he’ll straight up ask, “what’s wrong?” “My period… the cramps are so bad…” 

Rubs over your abdomen with his hands and tries to think of a spell to ease your pain because if he can get rid of it with magic, he doesn’t have to deal with this for much longer 

Does find a spell!

But also keeps you in his lap regardless because he kind of likes the idea of you being somewhat helpless and reliant on him so his arms are staying tightly around your waist and he does his paperwork with one hand

Orders take out for you but don’t even think this is going to be a monthly thing

Kiss to your head and a little bit of more rubbing while you eat your food, that’s the most you’ll get out of him

Mammon:

Doesn’t think you’re faking it, per se, he’s actually genuinely concerned to see you whining and clutching yourself but he’s …. Kind of dumb when it comes to it. Hear me out:

“The hell’s wrong with ya?” “my period…” “just put a comma instead.” What did he saaAAAYYYY!!!???? 

Please uhm… bear with him. If he is too dumb and your hormones are telling you to swing, please also do that because he deserves it lololol 

You need to explain in GREAT detail what the fuck is going on with you and then he may help you out. 

Brings heating pads, some alcohol because he heard alcohol numbs pain (sad boy hours are 24/7), some chocolate and maybe some cuddles. 

Do not expect him to NOT complain though and he’s DEFINITELY expecting compensation, but not in the form of money. No. He wants an apology for you (probably) yelling at him earlier and maybe some kisses so purse your lips up MC and give him some kith kith please 

A+ cuddles though. He’s a great body pillow 

Leviathan:

He can SMELL the blood before it even leaves your coochie, no cap, and he’s preparing for the worst. 

Hides all his precious figurines just in case your hormones act up so bad that you go violent. He can’t have anything happen to his collection.

Smart boy though like he’s right by your side and like, “I saw this in an anime once and I don’t know if it’s correct but I got a heated blanket, some ice cream, pain killers, tissues because you look like you’re crying, some sad anime we can watch because in that anime that I watched, the girl liked to watch sad movies and oh! I got you this plush of henry” 

Kinda hopes you’ll be chill after that and either game with him or let him game but as fate will have it, that doesn’t work

“Levi I want to cuddle with you…”

“Of course, sweety…” He’s looking longingly at his computer but still climbs into the bathtub with you, sweating with the heated blanket but as long as you’re happy right?

“Levi wrap your tail around me too, your arms aren’t enough…”

And he does that too, tightly, around yours and his waist so you’re pressed together.

Blushing the whole time because wow you’re close and you actually want to be with him right now and what even is he supposed to do?! He’s just trying to do everything right, okay, like he’s so scared of messing up on ANY day, but especially on your period. 

Beelzebub:

Comes home from the gym with like 16 take out bags full of 5 boxes each because he’s thoroughly starved 

Hears crying and immediately slams the bedroom door open thinking he may or may not have to murder someone for hurting you because ??? You’re his baby and he’s not going to have you crying. 

“What’s wrong MC ? Are you hurt?” You’d nod and he’d rush to your side, bringing you into his arms but your groaning and maybe even crying won’t stop, “talk to me.” “It’s my cramps… they’re so bad..”

Kind of confused not gonna lie so he just asks what he can do to make it better while rubbing his hands over your back soothingly. 

Once he knows, he gently lays you on the bed and runs out, only to come back with Belphie’s pillow (which OBVIOUSLY has a heating function, just pull on the tail of it), pain killers, all 16 bags of take out, and himself of course. 

Wraps you up in his jacket before pulling you into him and turning Belphie’s pillow into a heating pad, putting it on your stomach. Hands you pain killers and a box of take out (your choice, obviously), and then continues to hold you while he himself eats, too. 

Honestly 10/10 just ask him and he’ll get it 

Takes your mood swings like a fucking pro too like come at him MC, he’s just going to nod along and take you back into his arms anyway 

Barbatos:

The literal BEST at this 

Has everything prepared before you can even cry out from those damn cramps 

Yay for time travel and allowing him to see the future 

Comes with herbal tea, infused with magic that will get rid of your cramps, some cookies, your favorite movie, and a fluffy blanket. 

Definitely took the day off, Diavolo will understand (he won’t, but Barbatos will deal with that later) 

Most certainly caters to YOUR every need for once, just speak the words. Want more cookies? Okay. Another movie? Got it. A back massage? Perfect. For him to finger you until you reach an orgasm? Don’t mind if he does. 

Super chill, super easy going, the literal best. 

Simeon:

He has like minimal knowledge when it comes to the female human body so please bear with him here 

Hears you scream out in pain, thinks the literal worst. Rushes to your side and kneels in front of you, holding your hand until you tell him what is wrong 

Doesn’t know if he’s doing anything right but he brings tea, pain killers, and a hot towel to wrap around your stomach 

If that’s not it, PLEASE tell him and he’ll get whatever else you need immediately. 

Luke probably hears about it and bakes you some food so Simeon will definitely get those to you as well

Leans up against the headboard of your bed and pulls you in between his legs, holding you tightly and just talking to you, or maybe he’s reading some TSL to you, depends on what you want. 

He’s also a really good singer so you could definitely ask for that! 

If you just want some peace, he’s more than happy to hold you while doing his own thing on the side

He honestly just needs communication, please talk to him MC. He can’t read your mind, after all, as much as he likes to pretend that he can. Thank you.
