Izumi: And I think it’d be a good experience for us to share the joy of plays with them more directly and to have fun together.

Sakuya: That’s true, that could be a really good idea!

Citron: It sounds very fun!

Chikage: But wouldn’t people who have more experience with theater, like Tenma, Tasuku, or Tsumugi, be more suitable for teaching people than us Spring Troupe members?

Tsuzuru: He’s got a point, most of us are still pretty inexperienced actors. I mean, almost all of us were complete amateurs until a few years ago.

Masumi: I can do it.

Itaru: You’re probably the least qualified to teach.

Izumi: That’s the point. You all still feel like amateurs and remember how you felt when you first stepped on stage just a few years ago.

Izumi: I’m confident that you guys will be able to convey theater from a perspective that’s closer to a beginner’s.

Izumi: It’s not a workshop for actors, and it’s definitely not just for teaching like Yuzo-san’s workshops…

Izumi: I think it should be about just trying to enjoy theater together, just like if you were reminiscing about your old selves. That’s the best we can do, I think.

Izumi: And it could be an opportunity to expand our fan base too…

Izumi: I think it’s only because of how everyone is now that we can try to make people more aware of theater.

Sakuya: Yeah… I get it. Up until now, we’ve just been doing our best in regards to ourselves, but now…

Kumon: Sorry! I was kinda all over the place… But don’t worry, I watched the last match of your high school life!

Yamaguchi: “I know because I saw you. I didn’t get a reaction back though.”

Kumon: I said I was sorry!

Yamaguchi: “So, how was it?”

Kumon: Eh? Erm, well… you were really cool out there! It was like the culmination of all the practice you put in for three years. There’s no way you wouldn’t look cool having the time of your life like that after everything you’ve done!

Yamaguchi: “Geez, what’re you talking about?”

Kumon: Also, I remembered the time I was part of the baseball team and it felt so nostalgic. I felt kinda sad and jealous seeing all of you playing in the game together. That fist bump you did at the end—you also did that in the past when we lost a game a long time ago, right?

Kumon: I’ve wracked my brain, but…

Kazunari: The Tale of The Wicked Heavenly Dragon Son Goku’s Adventure… Extreme West Quest… those titles would totes suit you, don’tcha think~!

Kumon: Well, I tried thinking of words that are phonetically similar, but nothing’s clicked yet~.

Kazunari: Phonetically similar, huh~… AH! In that case, how does this sound?

Kumon: This happens every time, but we got the show in the blink of an eye, huh?

Tenma: When rehearsals got into full swing, it felt like we were just blasting through it.

Muku: Opening day is nerve wracking no matter how many times I experience it. Are you holding up, Kyu-chan?

Kumon: Yeah! Kazu-san came up with it!

Kazunari: I got it from Kumopi’s idea to use a phonetic equivalent~. Our costumes and the visuals for the world setting in our upcoming show are more colourful and vibrant than usual, aren’t they? I hope our play will also overflow with brilliance, just like Sanzo’s journey with his friends~!

Tsuzuru: …Great idea. Being highly saturated with colours suits Summer troupe.

Izumi: Yeah. Let’s go with that!

Kumon: Everyone, sorry for causing you so much worry this time! Since it was my second time playing the lead role, I thought that I had to work hard and show everyone my best side. But I know I ended up causing unnecessary trouble. I felt lost and depressed when I remembered my baseball team days… But I realized once again that the reason why I’m able to stand on stage with such confidence is because I have all of you. Because I'm with you guys, I feel like I can do anything. We’re definitely going to make this how a success! LET’S GO! TO TENJIKU!

Hakkai [Yuki]: “Since I’ve come all the way here, I’d like to stop by a town a little further south.” “I heard there’s a popular sweets shop. They have fluffy pao cakes.”

Gojo [Misumi]: “No festivals and no sweets shops. There will be too many women. It’s dangerous. I’d much rather pass through the mountain range over there where we’re bound not to meet anyone.”

Hakkai [Yuki]: “If a regular human like our master climbed such a steep mountain, he would freeze to death.”

Sanzo [Kazunari]: “…That’s enough. I will head to the temple lodging where we are staying today by myself.”

Goku [Kumon]: “That’s too dangerous! Master, if you travel alone, you’ll get gobbled up by demons in no time.”

“what do you hate OR like most about your roomie?”

misumi flips the card around in his hand, humming to himself in thought. across the circle, kumon looks at him expectantly, knowing the answer will be about him.

it's a cute little homemade card game where they all just wrote down questions and depending on who the (plastic coke) bottle lands on, they have to answer. this time, it's misumi's turn.

the question is simple!! if it were tenma and yuki, they would have a LOT to say about each other. if it were muku and kazunari, they would have a LOT to say about each other, but in a nicer sense! now, misumi, surprisingly, seems to be thinking deeply.

“which one?” he then asks, to everyone else's surprise.

“y'know,” kazunari tells him, “kumoppi? like, your roomie? you don't have other roomies do you?”

“i mean, yeah, we do!” misumi pipes up, turning to kumon with a grin. kumon, on the other hand, has eyes going wide.

“... uh, w- what do you mean, misumi-san? ah, tenma-san—”

“quit joking around!!” tenma interjects, one- no, two hands gripping onto kumon's jacket. “w-w-what are you saying you do? there's only two of you in there!!”

“nooo, we have a third roommate!” misumi says, brandishing three of his fingers. “they're a little shy but they've been there ever since i first moved in!”

“which was ages ago...” yuki notes.

“a- ah, yeah... misumi-san tells me about them, but i've never seen them!!” kumon says, looking earnestly sincere. “apparently, they didn't show much presence since i moved in but got a bit more active once they got used to me!!”

“wait, i'm confused, huh?” kazunari looks between misumi and kumon. “a third roomie?”

“yeah, we're triangular roommates!!”

“c- could it be... a- are you talking about a ghost?” muku guesses, to which tenma shrieks.

“there's no damn way!!” he claims, “w- why the hell are we just finding out about this now and since when!? and that's just not true, there's no way!!”

“yes, way!” kumon says, turning to tenma with determination to convince him. “sometimes, my stuff goes missing and i just know it's them pulling pranks on me and taking my things!”

“isn't it possible that that's just you misplacing things?” yuki says, avoiding the way tenma tries to grab onto him next when tenma realizes kumon isn't going to protect him from this ghost they're talking about.

“sometimes, the ghost takes our triangles, and sometimes brings us new ones too,” misumi adds on, “also turns lights on and off, opens the door, unlocks it too, tips things over—”

“is it a ghost cat?” yuki raises an eyebrow.

muku leans into his ear. “can ghost cats open doors?”

“they can if you believe hard enough,” yuki responds.

“that's like... totes scary though. you two aren't scared?” asks kazunari.

“at first, yeah!!” kumon nods. “but eventually, i got used to it too!! i think maybe they were as scared of me as i was of them!”

“they welcomed me from the start~ so nope, not scared at all! △△△”

“did you-” kazunari starts but stops himself, “nevermind! ☆”

“ ? ” muku makes a worried expression. “oh no... i feel bad for the ghost. they've been here for such a long time and we haven't acknowledged them at all...”

“it's fine by them, i think!! but if you wanna meet them, we can ask them in advance and let you know if they wanna talk!” misumi says with a grin.

“only misumi-san can see and hear them though,” kumon says.

“isn't this story familiar?” asks yuki, “wait...”

“that's enough!! i swear, this prank has gone on long enough! there's no way ghosts are real!”

yuki snorts. “you're trembling, though.”

“tenten, be nice!” kazunari says, “the ghost is afraid of people!!”

“I'M MORE AFRAID OF IT THAN—”

“go to sleep.”

... sakyo stands in the doorway to the living room, where they were all settled playing their game under dim lights. he's frowning, arms crossed, in his nightwear. the group apologizes before asking to stay up a bit more just to clean up and Sakyo sighs and lets them. misumi grins.

“i do like something about them, though.

“... sometimes, they say they would visit all of you too, when it's sure you cannot see them, in the morning at two...”

tenma shrieks and they're not allowed another slumber party until sakyo forgets in a month or so.

Summer Troupe with an S/O who Shares the Same Hobby

A/N: For Kumon's, I say baseball but please know I mean baseball AND softball, I just didn't want to keep writing 'baseball/softball'. Hope that's okay! Hope y'all like it!

❂ Tenma Sumeragi - Acting

Tenma thinks it’s really interesting that the two of you are into acting

He’ll definitely ask to practice scenes with you, although he seems to always get flustered when practicing romantic ones -so he just avoids eye contact because the moment he looks at you he dies inside-

If you do film acting, he’ll make sure to watch every movie you’re in no matter if you’re a lead or an extra. If you do theatre acting, he’ll try to attend as many of your performances as he can. If you just like acting but don’t really participate in anything, he’ll still support you and love practicing with you

If you need to practice for an audition, he’d love to help you out. No matter if it’s critiquing a performance or helping you practice dialogue, he’ll do anything to help you be successful

“Hey Tenma, can you help me?”

“Yeah, sure, what do you need help with?”

“I have an audition coming up and I need to work on this dialogue with someone.”

“Sure, I’ll gladly help.” You went over to sit next to Tenma and shared a script between the two of you. You couldn’t help but notice how his ears turned red from the proximity. The two of you went back and forth reading the dialogue, Tenma giving pointers at times on which emotion you should convey when, when to pause, and how to effectively give the best performance you could give. Even if he could be a bit redundant at times with his pointers, he did it out of love for you and hope for your success as he knows how amazing you are, and he wants everyone else to be able to know too.

If he ever has the opportunity to act with you, he’ll take it in a heartbeat. He’d absolutely love to work with you no matter what type of acting it is

Tenma is one of your main supporters in your acting career, and you can bet that he will stay by your side through all of it

❂ Yuki Rurikawa - Fashion and Sewing

Yuki loves that you’re good at fashion; I mean, he never has to worry about whether or not you look fashionable so he knows you two are always the cutest people in the room

If you ever make him clothing in his style he’ll feel incredibly honored that you took the time to make something for him that he’d actually wear

If either of you are struggling to pick an outfit for the day, the other will help and throw out ideas

Yuki was amazing at fashion. He knew it, you knew it, and most people knew it. No matter the type of fashion, he could easily put together a concise outfit in every style that would accentuate everyone’s so-called good side. So on days like today when you had no clue what to wear, Yuki was the person you went to. You hit the video call button next to his contact and waited for him to answer.

“Hey, what’s up?” Yuki answered the phone.

“Hey, Yuki! I’m not too sure what to wear today so I was wondering if you could help.”

Muku is ecstatic that you also love manga, specifically shoujo

He’ll invite you to the shoujo manga club meetings he has with Sakyo and Kazunari so all of you can talk about that meetings manga

If you actually attended, he’d be so beyond himself with excitement that he’d be basically vibrating the whole time (Kazunari thinks it’s sweet how happy you make Muku)

He’ll give you so many recommendations that he won’t expect you to read them all, but if you do he’ll be so happy

He’d love it if you gave him recommendations too! Muku would be sure to read your favorite mangas so he can talk with you about them

“Hey Muku! Look at this new manga I found! I think you’d enjoy it!” you said, walking into his room.

“Oh, hey! What’s the manga called?” he perked up at the sound of your voice and began making his way over to you.

❂ Misumi Ikaruga - Triangles

Misumi is ecstatic to find someone with the same passion for triangles as him

He definitely calls you his triangle, and it makes him happy beyond belief you understand how much that means to him personally as you also love triangles

If you call him your triangle, he will positively melt on the spot and cover you in small kisses

Triangle hunting dates! The two of you will most definitely go out together to search for the shape

Be ready to be gifted so many triangle things- you can hardly believe how many items he finds especially to gift you but that’s Misumi for you

“I brought you a gift!” Misumi said one day as he walked into your room.

“Really?” you said, excited.

“Mhm! Close your eyes and put your hands out.” You complied with Misumi’s orders as you buzzed with anticipation. You felt a light object be placed into your hands as you heard Misumi shuffle closer to you. “You can open your eyes now.” When you did, you spotted a triangle shaped charm with a heart on the inside in your palms. You reflexively clenched your hands and held the charm to your heart. “Do you like it?” he asked. You could almost hear a hint of nervousness in his voice.

“Misumi, I love it.” a smile broke out onto his face as he heard you say that.

“Really!? That makes me so happy!” he said as he pulled you into a hug.

The rest of the company find it so odd that Misumi is dating someone with the same love of triangles as him, but at the very least the find it cute and mildly entertaining

❂ Kazunari Miyoshi - Painting

Kazunari thinks it’s so cool that you like painting as much as him!

Get ready for painting dates where the two of you just talk about everything and nothing while working on your own projects

Do you know that old social media trend where people would paint on their significant other’s back? Yeah, he’d definitely love for the two of you to do that and take a picture so he can post it on Instablam

If he’s ever stuck on a project, he’ll ask you for help

You walked into Kazunari’s room and saw his head on his desk. Before you approached your boyfriend you waved to Muku who gladly said hello.

“He’s struggling.” Muku said as he climbed down his ladder and left the room. You just nodded in acknowledgement, grabbed a chair, and went to sit next to Kazunari. “I need help.” he whined, placing his head on your shoulder in an attempt to get your attention.

You placed a kiss on his cheek and then spoke, “what is it?”

“I can’t think of an idea for the next play’s poster.

“Okay, what’s the play about?” He explained the entirety of the plot in one fell swoop, and in the back of your mind you couldn’t help but applaud Tsuzuru at his creativity.

“Okay, so I was thinking…”

Although Kumon doesn’t play baseball anymore, he still loves the fact you enjoy the sport as much as he does

If you play, he’ll definitely practice with you and attend any games he can. He’s definitely one of the loudest on the sidelines but he can’t help it! He’s so proud of you

Kumon cheered as you went up to bat. He wanted to make sure you could hear that he was there watching and supporting you. He mentally wished you good luck, but in his heart he knew you didn’t need it as the two of you had been practicing very hard. He watched as you went up to bat and he sat with baited breath and he watched as you did amazingly.

After the game he went to greet you and immediately pulled you into a hug.

“Kumon, I’m sweaty!” you protested, but the entire time you were laughing and didn’t make any move to push him away.

Summer Troupe headcanons for @timeskip​

General:

This one isn’t really a headcanon, but I really like the idea of Summer Troupe going camping, sitting around a bonfire and all singing “Orange Heart” while Kazu plays the guitar!

I really like the idea that Yuki’s weak point is painting nails. He won’t admit it, but there’s a reason he never paints them himself, and the reason isn’t “It’s too much of a bother.”

But on the contrary, Kazunari is great at it! His hands are super stable thanks to years of art experience so he can do high quality work in very short time! He finds it fun too, so he often does others’ nails too if anyone wants him to. Misumi always asks for triangular patterns and Kazu is more than happy to oblige!

Muku has a growth spurt somewhere after year 3! Nobody notices it, since they see him everyday, until one day Yuki, while taking measurements, is like “Huh... Muku really is 183 cm tall, isn’t he..?” and everyone freaks out.

Tenma and Kazunari are the most procrastinating duo you will meet. They kind of bond over it; there are night where you will find them in the living room at 3AM desperately trying to finish assignments that were due last week, both just barely holding back tears

Misumi once proposed to Kazunari with a traffic cone, stating that he really needed to be Misumi Miyoshi to fully express his love for triangles (”Miyoshi” is written as 三好, with 三 (み or さん) meaning “three” and 好 (よし or す) meaning “to be fond of / to love”). Kazunari had to explain to him, while holding back laughter, that it’s not how it works.

Misumi loves wearing skirts (especially A-line and long flowy ones) because they’re triangular!

Kumon can’t play any instruments, but he actually has perfect pitch! He’s very good at singing just like his brother too! (Would most likely beat Banri if they went to karaoke together)

Kumon also has very bad memory when it comes to school stuff (his worst subject is history because of all the dates, which he feels bad about, because Juza is good at it) but he easily remembers stuff he’s passionate about

Everyone in the Summer Troupe loves games! They hold a game night at least once a month when they have time.

Tenma is terrible at Mahjong and tabletops, but surprisingly good at various card games

Yuki excels at Poker; always has everyone wrapped around his finger, but he has bad luck when it comes to board games with dice

Muku is, to everyone’s surprise, great (and absolutely ruthless) at Uno, but terrible at Monopoly; he always breaks under peer pressure and accepts all the deals, even if they’re bad on his end

Misumi somehow always wins at Ludo; he has some insane luck and always rolls the exact number he needs. Terrible at Scrabble though

Kazunari is great at Monopoly, Mahjong and Scrabble (everyone is surprised at his vast vocabulary, since he always talks in slang). Bad at Uno; never wants to +4 anyone so he keeps drawing

Kumon is a beast at Monopoly (who would have known he’s that good at playing people into his deals?) and surprisingly good at Hanafuda. Terrible at Poker; he’s too expressive for his own good

LGBT+:

I am well aware how unlikely it is for such a large group of random people to all be LGBT+, but try and tell me any theater kid would ever be straight, I’ll wait.

Tenma never got to explore much of his identity prior to meeting everyone at Mankai. He always thought of himself as a straight dude and didn’t even consider a possibility of being anything else. He starts questioning himself when he sees how different people can be even though they all have similar passion. He doesn’t label himself anything; he’s still learning about what he really feels, but he also deals with a lot of internalized homophobia, which others help him learn to get over.

Yuki is nonbinary! Doesn’t care for gender; thought he might be trans until he learnt binary isn’t the only option. He knows there’s no possibility for him to actually “pass” in society, so he’s accepted he’s gonna be misgendered a lot everyday; he’s fine with being seen as a guy, but when people assume he’s a girl it actually makes him uncomfortable. He’s only out to a handful of people at Mankai (namely: Muku, Izumi, and Azuma) but he doesn’t hide it, he just doesn’t tell anyone.

Muku is transgender! He knew since late childhood (10-12yo); his family was extremely supportive of him (which is still quite rare in Japan) and thus he was able to go on blockers and later start HRT! He passes very well, but is still insecure because of dysphoria; he looks up to Yuki who can still be very manly and masculine despite dressing in a feminine fashion. He comes out to the rest of Summer Troupe around Act 6 and everyone is accepting (Tenma doesn’t quite get it at first but educates himself later on)!

Misumi doesn’t use labels but he’s queer! Sees no difference between different genders; he feels the same way about all of them! Doesn’t have any strong connection to his gender identity either!

Kazunari is pansexual! He knew he was LGBT since around middle school but also dealt with a lot of internalized homophobia at first (likes of “Oh, I’m gay but I’m not like those gays”) but worked hard to figure it out and by high school he grew to be much more accepting; meeting many different people and talking to them definitely helped a lot.

Kumon is homosexual! Never showed any attraction for anyone for entirety of his childhood and early teens, but nobody thought much of it and certainly he didn’t notice it either; he just had the most important things on his mind and finding a girlfriend sure wasn’t one of them. He first learns of his orientation when he suddenly develops a crush on a boy on his first year of high school! To say he panics about it would be an understatement; he doesn’t know what to do, he feels like he should tell someone but he knows it’s foolish to assume anyone would be accepting of him. He goes to the only LGBT person he can think of: Muku! Muku of course reassures him it’s okay and helps him muster up enough courage to come out to at least his brother; something he’d been dreading the most. But of course, after at least an hour of going around the topic in circles, he finally comes out to Juza, who’s, although awkward, very supportive. You know my boy ends up crying for at least another hour.

It had started out a normal day. Well, relatively normal, as it was April fools day and of course, pranks were on the rise.

Izumi stood in the kitchen, drinking coffee, hoping that mischief would wait a little while longer.

She could hear the door open and the person make their way to the kitchen. Izumi doesn’t look up though, she could hardly even keep her eyes open. The night before she helped at a nearby theater, which went longer than expected.

“Good morning, Director.”

“Morning…”

“Are you okay? You seem tired.”

“I had a long night last night.” She rubbed her eyes. Looking up she saw that she was talking to… “Kazunari?”

“Yeah?” He looked a little confused.

She thought for a moment. “Oh I get it.”

“Get what?”

“The joke. It’s funny, you got me.”

“I’m not joking though?”

“Come on, the bit’s over.”

“What bit?” He grew exasperated.

Before the back and forth could continue, Masumi entered the kitchen.

“Izumi, he’s acting weird.”

“Who?”

“Tsuzuru. He’s even more annoying.”

As if on cue, Tsuzuru stepped in.

“Hey, Zumi!”

Kazunari sighed. “Good morning, Minagi.”

Masumi looked between the two. 

Izumi began laughing, catching all three of them off guard.

“Oh, okay. That was good. Great dedication.”

“She’s doing it again…” Kazunari said.

“I’m not really getting it…”

“Come on, Usu,” Tsuzuru gave him a light punch on the arm. “She’s having a good time. That’s pogs, right?”

“Stop calling me that.”

“It’s pogs.” He said quietly.

“What’s with all the noise in here?!” Sakyo yelled.

“I’m not entirely sure.” Kazunari answered.

“Kazunari and Tsuzuru are giving a great April fools performance.”

“Huh? I haven’t even gotten to my jokes yet.” Tsuzuru said.

“It has been fun, boys, but you’re not tricking me.” She walked out of the room, still laughing.

“Right, well, if you’re going to be pranking or whatever, do it quietly.”

“Got it, Saki!” Tsuzuru gave double finger gun.

“... what?”

“I’ll be quiet. No cap.” He gave a goofy grin

“What does that mean?”

“It means he’s not lying.” Kazunari translated. “You could’ve just said that.”

“Come on, Kinari-iro.”

Sakyo sighed and left, feeling the oncoming migraine.

Citron and Sakuya passed him, talking about something or another.

“Good morning, guys!” Sakuya greeted.

“Hello! Sweep well?”

“Sleep, Citron.” Kazunari corrected.

“Good morning, Sakun! Hey Kankitsu, do you think we could do a Citrun act today?”

“That would be fun, yes!”

“Stop encouraging him.” Masumi said.

“Well, this has been weird, but I’ve got homework to do.” Kazunari excused himself from the kitchen.

“Seeya, Kinari-iro!”

Citron pulled the other two to the side. “Somethings going on with them.”

“What gave you that idea?”

“What do you think’s going on?”

“Izumi said that it’s just a prank.”

“What’re you guys talking about?” Chikage startled the three of them.

“Tsuzuru’s been more annoying than usual.”

They looked over at him, taking selfies.

“He does seem to be acting strangely.”

“He didn’t even correct me when I messed up earlier.”

“Yeah, Kazunari did.”

“Kage!” Tsuzuru walked up to him and gave him a strong pat on the back. “Didn’t even see you come in! What’s up?”

“Oh, nothing much. Itaru said he wanted to see you.”

“Really? What for?”

“Something about that isekai harem what's-it you guys talked about during the KotR play, I think.”

Tsuzuru laughed. “Right, that. Brb!”

“He did?” Sakuya asked.

“No, it would just be a little hard to talk about him behind his back if he’s in the room. So did he hit his head or something?”

“I don’t think so. He just started saying weird things when he woke up.” Masumi looked at the door leading out to the dorms. “Izumi said it’s a prank,”

“I’m not sure, though,” Sakuya interjected. “He was keeping it up even when we weren’t looking.”

“Maybe it’s a long con.” Chikage suggested.

“Tsuzuru can’t keep a straight face on something like this to save his life.” Masumi said. “Have you seen him off-stage?”

Chikage thought for a moment. “I have an idea.”

Kazunari had just left the kitchen and headed straight up to his room.

“Good morning, Kazunari.” Muku greeted.

“Good morning, Muku.”

“W-what?”

“I said good morning.”

“Are you mad at me? Did I upset you? I’m sorry if I did.”

“What? No, I’m not mad at all, let alone at you.”

“A pathetic piece of dirt like me doesn’t have the right to put emotional strain on anyone!”

“Whoa, Muku, calm down.” He placed his hand on the quivering boy’s shoulder. “I’m not mad, why would you think that?”

“Because you always call me Mukkun, and I don’t know why you’d stop unless you’re mad at me!”

“What?”

“I’m sorry, I’ll just go so I don’t upset you with my crummy presence.” He quickly left the room, Kazunari watched.

“People are acting so weird today.”

Muku ran out to the courtyard and bumped into Kumon and Juza.

“Muku, what happened?!” Kumon asked as Juza rubbed his back.

“K-kazunari he-” He can hardly form a sentence.

“Kazunari?”

“Did he hurt you?” Juza asked, looking a little angry.

“No, no… it’s my fault. He’s mad at me!”

“What for?”

“I don’t know…”

“How do you know it’s your fault?”

“Why wouldn’t it be my fault?”

“Hey, Uku, what’s wrong?” Tsuzuru knelt down to the crying boy.

“Kazunari’s mad at me…”

“I’m sure he’s not mad at you, he may just be having an… off day.”

“Wait Tsuzuru, what was that?” Kumon asked.

“He’s having an off day...?”

“No, before that, what’d you call Muku?”

“Uku.” He said with a smile.

Muku’s tears grew in intensity. “It’s really cute. Thank you.”

Tsuzuru didn’t entirely understand, but he sounded happier, so he didn’t say anything.

“How ‘bout we get something to eat.” Juza suggested.

Muku nodded and the three of them stood up and slowly walked to the kitchen, comforting Muku the whole time.

Tsuzuru got up and knocked on Itaru’s door.

“I’m busy!” He yelled. A few minutes passed before anything else. “Damn.” He opened the door. “What is it?”

“Kage said you wanted to talk to me.”

“Ka… what?”

“Yeah, about the script you wanted.”

“Well, I didn’t.”

“Oh.”

“Is that all?”

“Yeah.”

“Well then,” Itaru closed the door.

“Seeya, Takai!”

After a moment, Itaru opened the door. “What?”

“I said seeya! Maybe you and Kumo need to get your hearing checked.”

“... give me a minute.”

Itaru looked up to the sky.

“What’re you doing?”

“I’m trying to see if there’s an apocalypse.”

“No, but it has been a little strange today.”

“You’re telling me.” He thought for a moment. “I see what’s happening here.”

“What?”

“You’re fucking with me.”

“No, I-”

“It’s April first. You’re just messing with me. Good job, I will be getting back at you though.”

“Zumi said something like that, too. Is this some big prank you guys orchestrated and me and Kinari-iro are the targets?”

Itaru took in a deep breath.

“Fuck it.” Itaru marched to the kitchen, where he saw the rest of the spring troupe, Muku, Kumon, and Juza.

“Hello, Itaru.” Chikage greeted. “I take it you’ve spoken with Tsuzuru?”

“Yeah, what the hell’s up with him?”

“We aren’t sure yet.” Sakuya said.

“He and Kazunari are acting wired.”

“Weird.” Masumi corrected.

“Kazunari?”

“Yeah,”

Itaru paused, as he had a realization.

“Personality swap.”

“What?”

“They swapped personalities or whatever.”

“So that’s why Tsuzuru’s giving everyone nicknames?” Chikage asked

“And Kazunari has been using our names?” Sakuya continued.

“Seems like it.”

“So Kazunari’s not mad at me?”

“Uh probably not, no.”

“Whatever it is, they’ve gone too far.” Juza said. “He hurt Muku, they shoulda dropped it when they saw that.”

“I’m not sure this is a prank.” Itaru thought out loud. “Like you said, it hurt someone but also, Tsuzuru seemed way too adamant for it to be a prank.”

“There’s one way to find out.” Chikage walked to the door and saw Tsuzuru, taking more selfies by the flowers. “Tsuzuru, could you come here for a minute?”

“What’s up, Kage?” He asked as he strolled up to the door.

“I just wanted to see how things were going.” He gives him a strong pat on the back.

“The lighting’s sups good rn, so I thought I could get some pics.”

“That’s good. Sorry to interrupt that, I just wanted to chat.”

“Cool, I’ve gotta go now! Bye!”

They said their goodbyes and Sakuya moved to Chikage’s side.

“What’s the plan?”

“I planted a bug on him. If he talks like that when he’s alone, we’ll know it isn’t a joke.”

“What do you mean?” Kumon asked this time.

“We act for an audience,” Chikage took out a strange device and started messing with it. “If there’s no audience, there’s no need to act. There.” He set it on the table.

“Kuru!” Tsuzuru greeted Yuki. 

“What is it, Villager C?” He said, not noticing the nickname.

Their talk went on for a little while before it was interrupted by Misumi and Hisoka breaking in through the windows and Chikage at the door. They grabbed the confused men.

“Hey!” Tsuzuru yelped.

“Alright, now it’s time to find out what the hell’s up with them.” Chikage said to Itaru.

“Us?!” Kazunari yelled.

“Yeah, you were acting really weird.” Masumi said.

Kazunari looked flabbergasted, he attempted to gesture around the room to the people who just burst in and grabbed them. There was some struggle on account of the fact that Hisoka had him by the wrists.

“Yeah, not to be judgy, but you guys are the ones being weird if anyone is.” Tsuzuru said, encaptured in what could only be described as a bear hug by Misumi.

“God that’s weird.” Banri muttered from the door.

Izumi walked into the room, sighing.

“You two have been acting atypical all morning.”

“No… I’d say this is pretty standard.” Kazunari said.

“I’d have to disagree…” Tasuku commented.

“So, what, are you saying me and Minagi suddenly became different people?”

“Stranger things have happened!” Misumi said, lifting Tsuzuru a little.

“And we’re supposed to just believe that? It’s absurd!”

“I never thought I’d see the day Kazunari called something absurd.” Tenma said.

“I can’t believe it.” Kazunari looked at his troupemates. “I can see them trying to pull this weird- whatever this is- but you guys?”

“Listen Friendly McExtravert, we’re all as confused as you.”

“I don’t mind it all that much. Mitsu is a really good hugger.”

“What if it happened in their sleep or something?”

“Like what?”

“I dunno. Magic or something. Stranger things have happened.”

“You’re so smart…”

“Magic? Director, I think your imagination is getting a little too wild.”

“I mean, it’s not the first time someone temporarily changed into a completely different person for a strange reason. Remember when Banri put that talisman on Taichi?” Omi said.

“I don’t…” Taichi muttered.

“What happened?” Azami asked. Taichi wasn’t the only one not there for it.

“He was possessed or some shit.” Banri answered. “He was kinda a dick.”

“Sakyo beat him up afterwards.” Juza said.

A3! Act 3 Episode 9 Summary

Please read through this note before you start reading the summary!

whhhhew, finally finished episode 9 and THE EMOTIONS ARE ROLLING-😭😭

but ofc being the maniac that i am ive decided to provide a full summary of episode 9 for those who are interested!

Be warned that this is MAJOR STORY SPOILERS so i would recommend you be at least finished act 2 and all the events leading up to it before you read this. Otherwise you’ll probably have a hard time understanding the full context of things.

The last note I want to make is that this won’t be a detail-for-detail summary! I still want to keep things decently vague so people can still have the joy of experiencing the story for themselves while still providing adequate information to clear up any confusions and speculations. This summary will basically be a rough outline of the story that highlights some of the major events that went on. This summary will follow the order of how the episode played out, all the events will be listed in order.

Ofc, if anybody has any specific questions regarding the story that they want clarified or just simply want to discuss episode 9: always feel free to shoot in an ask or dm me! I’m always happy to provide with information and/or rant about these precious boys!

WARNING: EXTREMELY LONG POST AND MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD~

the new groups of people now are the following:

High schoolers- Yuki/Muku/Azami/Kumon

Yosei University- Juza/Tsuzuru/Tenma/Taichi

Amabi- Kazunari/Banri

Adult group is still adult group~~

Apparently Tenma’s parents decided it would be a good idea to let him attend university so it was decided on the spot that he would be going through exams. He had to get Chikage to tutor to barely scrape by passing bc of how busy he was. Taichi on the other hand....Tsumugi the GOAT-

Omi now works as a professional photographer through a job his friend introduced him to.

Masumi decided to go to Fuyou University which is Tasuku and Tsumugi’s old university to study. Misumi’s brother, Madoka, also studies there. Although Madoka does not look like it, he’s actually 19... I know...

Azami decided to attend the same high school as Kumon which warms my heart honestly bc it just showed how good of friends they’ve become <3~~ Here’s his new uniform look <333

not sure how i feel about the red hoodie but eh, boy can pull it off so it doesn’t matter aha~

Guy is apparently opening up a new Zahra style bar with the help of the winter troupe members such as Homare who introduced him to an interior design company (same company that installed that brick wall in his room orz). Hisoka will also be helping out in Guy’s bar.

The entirety of Reni’s backstory (5 episodes in total) which describe his initial meeting with Yukio during high school to how they built Mankai together was described through the format of portraits (the autumn troupe signature). HIs backstories are basically just narrations of Act 3 1/2 if any of you read that when it was first posted.

Reni’s real name is apparently “Kamikizaka Reiji” and “Reni” is a nickname that Yukio gave him in high school bc Yukio thought that his real name was too hard to write out in kanji and pronounce lolol.

Reni keeps a journal which documents his time with Yukio (basically Act 3 1/2) in a safe in his office.

Kasumi’s nickname back in the day was apparently “Juriko”: stems from “Juliette” and “ko” which is a way to feminize someone’s name in Japanese. This was because he was the crossdresser that had to play Juliette in the OG spring troupe RomiJuri- heh.

 Shifuto is now the new “top” in GOD Troupe after Tasuku and Haruto who got demoted.

FRIEND ANGST BETWEEN AZAMI AND SHIFUTO HNGHHH and that’s all I’m willing to say oop-

GOD Troupe challenged Mankai to an act-off once again and this time appointed Tsumugi as the lead and Tasuku to be in the play and the theme as “devil” and thus...Devil Tsumugi was born.

The company was initially debating on whether to accept the challenge or not but Tsumugi and Taichi desperately wanted to show Reni who they have become as an actor and prove him wrong on all the things he’s said to them. Basically, everyone who was casted for this play had their own reasons on why they wanted to act.

Misumi’s dad’s name is revealed to be “Kusumi” which literally means nine-points/sides and I- top 10 betrayals? I was certain that his name will have something to do with a square but apparently not-

Although it was briefly revealed during Sky Pirates, Misumi’s dad is the official script writer for GOD Troupe. However, it is shown here that he has absolutely no talent in writing so what he does is get Madoka to act as his ghostwriter and write for him.

Hence this birthed Madoka’s complex of wanting to write in his own free will and not under the control of his father. Since everything he writes gets “edited” by his father but everything his father edited gets rejected by Reni and so Madoka has to fix it himself anyways.

Returning to backstory, Reni revealed that Yukio legit went to visit Misumi’s grandpa (Hakkaku) as a senior high school student to ask him for a script. As a note, Hakkaku was already a very famous script writer at that time and age wise he is about what both their dads would be. Ofc he was refused many times but Yukio wouldn’t give up and would not stop pestering Hakkaku until he finally caved in.

Honestly I loved the autumn and winter troupe dynamic throughout this entire episode- just the way they supported Taichi and Tsumugi is just-

Kumon had to act as the mediator between Azami and Shifuto to try and recover their friendship and the entire process was hilarious.

Yukio and Reni were actually Yuzo and Kasumi’s high school seniors at Nanakusa High. Yuzo was the “ghost member” that was only member of drama club in-name only that was mentioned earlier.

NAMIKAWA DAISUKE’S VOICE IN KASUMI- *deaded counter x1* as a tiny side note: i realized half way through that Tezuka (Reni), Sanada (Yuzo), and Ootori (Kasumi) were in the same high school together bc of their seiyuus. This is for my TeniPuri fans out there haha~~

During their last performance in high school, Yukio and Reni got boycotted by the other junior members right before their play. Reni ended up forcing a reluctant Yukio to go at speak act out the monologue Hakkaku provided for them and everybody ended up being overwhelmed by Yukio’s performance.

This is what ended up making Reni dedicate his post high school life creating Mankai with Yukio, he wants to see Yukio act on stage again. He describes Yukio’s acting as “someone who was chosen by God” and even went as far as using his own money his parents gave him when they kicked him out (strict family bs) to build the initial theatre while they both worked part-time. Reni was the one who designed the entire theatre according to Yukio’s wishes to “make it long lasting”. However, Yukio revealed to him that he has no desire to stand on stage again and instead wants to make others “full bloom”, this invoked a sense of betrayal in Reni.

Reni was also the one who recruited Syu, his childhood friend, into the theatre. From there on, Yuzo and Kasumi also joined. Kasumi was revealed to also be garbage at acting at first but Yukio appointed him as lead for their first play nonetheless.

There is apparently some outside force wanting to ruin Mankai as they even went as far as stealing a part of Tsuzuru’s script and provided it to Misumi’s dad who ended up plagiarizing. It is later revealed that Reni had nothing to do with this so it is currently unknown who the main perpetrator is.

 In order to get a better grasp on his devil character, Tsumugi opted to spend one day with each of the other winter troupe members (Homare, Hisoka, and Azuma) individually. This is to get more insight from people who had lived such different lives and accumulated such different experiences. Honestly, one of the most heartwarming moments ever.

MY ANGST MAN IS HERE WITH HIS FIRST APPEARANCE!!! SAKURAI TAKAHIRO’S VOICE OMGGGGG *deaded counter x2*

He met Tsumugi in front of the GOD Theatre and asked him to “save” Reni.

On the day of the performance, Tsumugi and Taichi decided to walk to the theatre. They met Banri and Juza along the way who were planning to do a street act to release some energy. On their way, they ended up being surrounded by numerous punks who were presumably sent by the same outside force who stole Tsuzuru’s script.

The night before the actual performance, the plagiarism was revealed to both sides and both sides were just as much caught off guard by this. Reni, however, refused to change the direction of the play since it was too risky as the performance is the next day. However, Shifuto refused to act out something that is plagiarized since he promised Azami that they would have a “fair fight like men”.

And so, he managed to convince Haruto to use Madoka’s script that he has written for the first time according to free will and changed the entire play in one night. With the help of Haruto’s authority, they managed to do it in time. (I’ve failed to mention this until now but these three has been building up chemistry all through out this episode and im so down for them tbh)

Banri told Juza to take Tsumugi and Taichi and go ahead while he stays behind to try and buy some time alone against all the men. Just when Banri was in a tight spot due to power in number...

BAM THIS OLD MAN COMES IN AND SAVES THE DAY!! by now y’all already know... YASUMOTO HIROKI’S VOICE HAAAAAAAAAH *deaded counter x3*

After Banri revealed to Zen that he was autumn troupe leader of Mankai, Zen gave him a card of his restaurant, “Gentiana” and promised to treat them to a meal there afterwards.

Costume reveal for GOD Troupe. Honestly, I love the chemistry that was built throughout this episode between Shifuto, Haruto, and Madoka. Haruto really did give out redeeming qualities and i don’t dislike him as much as before aha (even tho he is still a snob) and I acknowledge him as a character. Madoka’s script consisted of two characters and basically talks about two estranged brothers (his way of writing down his guilt for towards Misumi)

Costume reveal for Mankai as many of you probably have seen already- devil tsumugi and sexy tasuku is just-

 In terms of actual in-game plays, this was the second play that I’ve actually cried at, the first being Clockwork. Super emotional and well-written play and certainly it draws a lot of parallels to Sympathy for the Angel.

SAME RENI...JUST-SAME. TT

After the performances...i won’t reveal who won and by how much but Reni did officially apologize for all his past actions as he was reminded of his passion for acting through this play. Izumi thought this too but it is hard to 100% forgive him bc of the pain he’s brought on all the members.

He revealed why he quit Mankai, it was bc he and Yukio had become so divided that if he had stayed, the entire balance of Mankai would fall to ruins. He actually came to the conclusion to leave after being trapped in the time loop with Yukio for about three days aha~

Reni decided to create GOD Troupe bc he wanted them to win the Fleur Awards first and crush Mankai, that way, he may have the chance one day to accepted a lost Yukio in his troupe as an actor and not a director (obsessed much my dude??)

The last part of the episode is Reni wanting to talk to Izumi about the Ikaruga family and being invited to Mankai Dorms as a result. There he reminisced the days with the OGs before we are left with a cliffhanger-

Even though he only talked for two lines but ONO DAISUUUUKE~~~ *deaded counter x4*

The very last scenes showcased how the OGs are starting to come back together as they will be getting involved with the new Mankai members.

2) Favorite Troupe

I love all of the troupes, I really do. However, I really am partial to Autumn Troupe. As much as I’d loved the upbeat nature of the story when it came to Summer and Spring Troupes, I am WEAK for people with complicated or dark past lives trying to turn over a new leaf. (and the idea that those dark pasts could come back to haunt them at any time and maybe pull the troupe into danger excites me)

Actually, I’m weak for Hurt/Comfort in general, and something about the whole way the portraits were set up and treated by the game left me with so much FUEL.

Like ok, TAICHI.  I seriously love Taichi’s whole character arc, I also seriously love how protective Autumn troupe, and specifically Banri and Juza get towards him after they hear the whole story, ok.  When Beni shows up at their closing night, and Taichi tries to stand up to him, and Juza and Banri chewing him out.  That made me so happy, just SO happy.

I also love Juza, like the poor baby.  He just wants some friends dammit.  (I seriously love imagining what would happen if one of the punks who likes to target him took a cheap shot and went for Muku or Kumon instead.  Can I see Juza in berserk protect mode please?). Also, he’s just such a sweet guy, I mean this figuratively AND literally.  Give him all the pudding he wants, he deserves it.

Like the other troupes had one or two characters with traits like that, and I love them. It’s just that, as a whole, Autumn troupe really makes me happy

(like I was enamored with the idea that Citron was a runaway prince with spies after him for a while)

(Also does anyone else remember that scene that Misumi like got startled but the Director and pinned her in a hold for just a sec because I THINK ABOUT THAT A LOT)(wait a sec I remember reading that in game, I swear.  But, I just reread the whole summer episode and I literally couldn’t find it? I’m afraid I might be going insane, now. )(Does anybody else remember this happening because now I’m really curious what chapter it was?)

(also my crazy imagination running away with the idea that Tenma’s dad literally punched him, though that was before I started reading the Rookie arc for Summer.   I might still write something about them later...)

PLUS, their VOICES are so deep.

I could listen to Banri’s raspy friggin’ voice all day, and Juza’s deep voice harmonizes so well with Banri’s. I want to scream.

45) Did your favorite character/troupe change since you started the game?

Ah, well my favorite character and troupe pretty much changed as soon as I first meet a new character. At least with the first three troupes, I was always convinced that nothing could top how much I loved the previous troupe when I started a new chapter, but the game ALWAYS surprised me.

The only troupe that kinda disappointed me was Winter troupe, but that’s mostly because I’m not a huge fan of Tsumugi. Like I love him, I just feel that his character was not nearly as well developed as the other leads, in fact, I feel like Tasuku would have been a better fit for the lead of that troupe, he has a much more interesting character arc, especially when he has to confront the fact that he hurt Tsumugi and apologize to him.

I just always felt that if you took away his friendship with Tasuku, there wasn’t much to Tsumugi. His character is almost built around Takuku’s character arc and the rest of him just feels fake, I guess? Not that Tsumugi is faking it, just that the character traits they chose for him seeem like they have little to no motivation or reasoning behind them, so he doesn’t feel as real as the other leads. It would be fine if he were a side character, but not as the lead.  

That’s why I’m a bit disappointed, like it would even be something if he showed more than token regret for leaving theatre for as long as he did, but he seems more upset about the fact that Tasuku is upset with him, than the fact that he quit doing what he loved for years. Like, it might be too similar to Sakyo’s arc in that respect, but I would have still been fine with it, especially because Tsumugi had his own reasons for leaving theatre, that are different enough from Sakyo's that I would have been satisfied.  

Anyway, I’m getting way off topic.

My favorite character has waffled like crazy too, its just like the header of my blog says, I love them ALL.  Its a bit overwhelming because I’ve never had this experience before, like I always latch on to a character or two and tolerate the rest for most fandoms I’m in.  

Like, at first, I adored Tsuzuru, like he was so friggin’ relatable, and hardworking and earnest that I loved him, I also loved how he was the big brother character.  Though, Itaru was a close second.

Then, it was Misumi.  I got seriously obsessed with Misumi for a while, he was so adorable and honest, and oblivious sometimes that I also sorta related to him, plus his voice is so adorable.  However, Tenma took over after I saw him get punched by his dad and he took over for that troupe from there.  I didn’t really appreciate Kazunari until I came back and reread his parts in the story, I missed some of the nuance of his small arc in my first read through.

THEN, Autumn troupe destroyed me.  DESTROYED ME, and I’m not even kidding. Like I literally hated Banri at first, though really, who among us didn’t at the start of all this.  I mean he was such a little shit for like the first third of the Autumn Troupe’s arc.  I was also on the fence at the beginning with Taichi, like I had like two SSR cards of him by this point so I knew who he was and he just seemed like an off-brand Kazunari to me, but that’s before I started reading so...

Anyway, but otherwise, right at the start of Autumn Troupe’s arc I had THREE FAVORITES just after auditions.  I’d really been looking forward to Sakyo joining, because he was the first SSR that I’d gotten, and immediately I remembered him from episode one and I got excited.   

Also, Omi just immediately appealed to me, the very second I first saw his dumb little confused face (you know the one), I was like ‘I love this man’ and that was the end of it.  Plus, I was getting serious big bro energy from him.  Juza also immediately appealed to me as well, he was just this intense guy but he was so earnest in the beginning that I really took a liking to him right off the bat.  He just felt like a gentle giant, he looks scary but in the way he acted you could just tell that that wasn't really him.

I love Sakyo popping bubble wrap, just going to put that out there.

I love the idea that Itaru just uses Sakuya as his personal gatcha drawer, that's just so cute to me.

I love the idea that Tenma literally has no sense of direction.

I love the Mankai Mahjong Club, and literally everything it entails.  

I love the Minagi family and I need more content with them, (thank you A3 anime).

Muku and Sakyo reading Shoujou manga together.  (It’s just too cute that Sakyo gave in after Muku started berating himself for even deciding to ask, I mean seriously it melts my heart every time I think about it.)
