IM BACK GANG!! been working on this for a few days and didnt wanna post it during the strike

@ectobio made some sprites the other day of if jade and rose's god tier outfits matched their colors schemes, and then @gay-frog-search-history asked about the beta kids.... so voila! my personal designs for the characters in their Color-matched God Tiers

and their regular god tiers below the cut :3 (also I did switch Jade from Mind to Life, because the Mind colors fit Jane a bit better, hope that's ok)

have some thoughts on these:

Jade as Witch of Life is pretty fine I think... No Space Player basically guarantees a failed game but we dont worry about the actual mechanics of the game this is just for funsies. besides, life should be able to find a frog anyways, frogs are living!

Rose Seer of Rage is actually so interesting to me. Light relates to her motifs a lot, but I can brute force some rage symbolism relatively easily. She is very angry inside, her whole "destroying her session" showed that... inch resting...

Jane Maid of Mind mightve kept a lot of the dramatic pre-retcon shit from happening- she'd be "meant" to keep her friends minds taken care of, she probably couldve prevented lots of relationship issues with this. But Brain Ghost Dirk likely wouldnt exist lol.

Dirk Prince of Light is very similar to Eridan Prince of Hope. And i got confused in the comments of the og post leave me alone theyre both yellow. But still, Light is basically Fortune. Lack of Fortune? Too Much Fortune? VERY fun to think about!!!

Roxy Rogue of Heart! That's Nepeta's! Her role in the group already fits a Heart player well (though maybe a Blood player better) but she would gain a lot more individuality and agency that I think she could benefit from as a character. Void players have it rough :pensive:

Jake Page of Doom is pretty based actually. Page is one of the most powerful classes iirc and Hope and Doom are opposites so, functionally he'd be very similar. Again, Brain Ghost Dirk wouldn't exist but maybe there'd be a doomed timeline Dirk to take his place...

Ride The Cyclone Fanfiction Headcanons

Hey, you. Yes, you. LOOK ME IN THE EYES AND TELL ME THAT RICKY POTTS DIDN'T WRITE FANFICTION. Impossible? That's what I thought. (He has a cult following on fanfiction.net)

Noel probably wasn't much of a fanfic writer / reader. BUT I will tell you with absolute certainty that he's visited the local library countless times for a "french poetry project" to kick his inner Monique into gear. So basically, inwardly writing fanfics but never actually putting them into words. Honestly, he prefers acting / images more.

I am 110% sure that Mischa Bachinski posts his rap lyrics onto Wattpad. He also probably has a private collection of self-insert fics of him and Talia, but he will never show them to anyone, not even over his dead body.

Constance is ABSOLUTELY a regular fanfic reader. You can't convince me otherwise. She prefers fluff and smut, but is def not afraid of angst or hurt/comfort. (To the point of regularly torturing herself by rereading sad endings and character deaths.) You name it, the girl's read it, but she doesn't share her reccomendations with anyone except Ricky, because Ocean and Noel would def judge her, and she's not really that close to Mischa. (We'll mention Jane later dw) Btw she was def a beta reader for Ricky

Like previously mentioned, my girl Ocean unfortunately is not a fan of fanfiction. I think she accidentally read a cringey wattpad fic when she was 13 and it's effects were so irreversable she swore she would never read any of that again. (She also thinks she's above it. "Classic Literature"? Lmao, Ocean, honey, I see you reading that trash romance ya novel. Literally don't try me right now-)

Jane, my love! She obviously doesn't know what it is until Ricky introduces her to some of his fics, and then she LOVES IT. But she's not really into any fandoms so she just likes to read oc fanfics (pretty much mini-novels at this point)

Finally, Penny. She is pretty much incapable of reading anything other than hurt/comfort, and she's the type of person to refresh AO3 every few hours when she's dopamine-starved.

since there are fifty billion beta trolls ill speed through the thought processes i had. karkat’s dæmon settles last bc hes in a state of arrested development. like act 6 last. aradia doesn’t have a dæmon anymore bc she died before entering the game :( (ALSO IT IS NOT THANOS AS IN THE MARVEL CHARACTER) uhhh pretend kanaya’s dæmon says f, tavros is so newfoundland dæmon coded, gamzee is a badger bc they are really unassuming looking but are like a genuine threat, etc etc

I really want to do more hometuck analysis and talk to others about those more often so Idk

I imagine if the messages Jane gets of “CEASE REPRODUCTION“ can be seen as a metaphor to the kids internalized homophobia and transphobia, a sort of mockery of how inadequate they feel over being gay and trans therefore not being able to do any reproduction.

(Btw I see Jane and Dirk as transmasc, while Roxy and Jake are transfem, but you can see them on other ways and still get the general vibe, their frustrations with their gender, their exaggerated gender performance, Roxy wanting to be a parent and Dirk being disgusted with the idea)

And that runs together with the concept of a dead session, a session that can’t “reproduce“ which means create another universe, they are on dried out planets and have no hope of progressing through the game.

Anyways, the flashing images telling Jane to cease reproduction are interesting to me because one would come to the conclusion that those messages influenced Jane specifically and in turn her dead session, but whenever Jane is taken over (trickster and crocker tier) she is obsessed with the idea of having babies (with Jake specifically), which feels odd since one of those modes is literally being “controlled” by HIC who is against the idea.

It feels like those messages had an opposite effect on Jane, maybe the CEASE REPRODUCTION messages were so on the nose they felt like a mockery of it’s own message, it felt like Irony, not to mention the subliminal messages were so obvious to look at Jane herself notices them.

So it links to the theme of EXTREME PORTRAYALS=MOCKERY we see on the Alpha kids gender presentations, Jane behaves as an old timey 50s housewife, Jake as a masculine colonizer figure on his Beta univese, Roxy’s over the top interest in boys, Dirk’s entire cool dude image. an extreme portrayal of HIC’s desire to change Earth into Alternia 2 is expressed through her subliminal messages, the Alpha kids come off as parodies of gender roles because of how obsessed they are with the idea of fitting into the contexts they were raised in and 2010s ideas of gender.

So maybe it is appropriate Jane despite being the most affected by the Batterwitch’s propaganda is the one who tries to have babies whenever she can, it had an opposite effect because those messages felt like stark reminders of something she didn’t want to, of a world she couldn’t fit into, she was always destined for a dead session, for an unrequited romantic quadrangle, of being on a sterile session, it would have an effect on her and on all the other kids, it’s being constantly reminded of how “unfit“ for creating an universe/reproduction they are.

But on a happier note, by the end if they want to have kids they can just eto-biology some, they left the game, the new universe was taken care of, they don’t need to see themselves as “unfit“ anymore because they don’t have to be on a game that’s entirely about reproduction, they can be fine now even if their life long mentalities will need to change on this new setting.
