There is something I don't understand, if Bree had everything she needed and always wanted in the town where Neil was born, why did they decide to move to Bonesborough?
Didn't she think that upon returning she might have the bad luck to see her parents again and relive the traumas of her adolescence?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They moved because the land they had was very much useless and in order to provide and survive it was necessary to find another place to make a living at. Bonesborough was one of the options and the most profitable one at that. It's not that Neil specifically only cares about profit but he's well aware he has a wife and three kids to provide for and he would lay the world at all of their feet if he could, which is why he preferred Bonesborough over other places.
Breena was not happy about hearing that because, yes, she was afraid of her past catching up to her. Not only was she scared that meeting her "parents" would throw her back to the insecure and broken girl she was before meeting Neil but she was also scared it would affect her severely in her mother role. She wanted to do better than her "parents" and actually quite enjoyed being a mother to Makenna, Feya and Micah and she didn't want to possibly damage the good relationship she had with her kids because of that.
It threw her in a bit of a dilemma. She wants the best for her babies and if Bonesborough is the best option they have for a great life she will not object but she also doesn't want to be confronted with her abusers. So... who does she prioritize here? Her kids or herself?
Neil offered to investigate on whether or not Breena's parents still live in Bonesborough, hoping desperately for them to have moved themselves, so that Breena's fear could be taken away. He wanted to go to Bonesborough anyway to take a look at the land that is up for sale and so he took Ian with him and upon arriving handed him a note with Breena's old address and maiden name.
Ian went to the address given to him and there was still a house standing there. He knocked, the door opened, he introduced himself and let the woman that opened the door know who he's looking for.
"Ah no, I'm afraid you won't be able to find my cousin here. She moved out about 15 years ago."
"Yer cousin ye say?"
"Distant cousin if we want to be precise."
"Ye dinna happen to know where yer cousin is now?"
"No idea. I only know she separated from her then-spouse and they then both moved out of Bonesborough after their daughter disappeared. Don't know where to though. None of us in the closer and more distant family was able to contact either since they left."
"And they dinna plan to return?"
"Unlikely. Upon leaving my cousin was rather joyful than saddened. I wish I could help more, good Sir, but unfortunately that is all information I have."
"No worries, Ma'am. Ye helped me a lot already. I willna disturb ye any longer. Have a good day!"
"You too!"
Lucky coincidence.
Once Breena heard the bad part of her past was gone, it did make the decision easier. That and the fact now she was a 32 year old woman and no longer a child + the fact that she knew she wasn't alone but that she had a husband who she can confine in, who'll catch her and who'll build her up again, who'll stand with her no matter what, she made the decision to agree with the plan of moving to Bonesborough.
She wasn't ecstatic about it. She would've preferred staying with her found family in the town she grew to love, the town she married at and the town that was her children's birth place but she came to accept it. Being reunited with Ahana and Cat was her biggest joy and made it all a lot easier too <3

It was hard for all of you when it happened. It was so quick, yet everything moved in slow motion as his body hit the ground.
The moment still haunts all of your dreams, replaying over and over in your minds.
It was the worst for you. It took weeks before you stopped crying as soon as you woke up. You’d gotten so used to rolling over and snuggling into Johnny every morning. He was your sunshine.
The first few nights were the worst, staring at the indent in the bed where he’d laid not even a week ago. You didn’t dare touch it, wanting to preserve him in a weird way.
You couldn’t even shower without breaking down. Johnny would always come sit on the sink and talk to you while you showered. It felt so empty without him.
Everything felt empty. Brushing your teeth without his arms wrapping around you. Making food and only making enough for you. Going to bree coffee and accidentally grabbing his mug with yours.
Nothing felt right, and you couldn’t bear it. Luckily you weren’t grieving alone. Simon was struggling just as bad as you were. Johnny was like a brother to him.
Many night the two of you sat in silence in the common area. No words are exchanged most of the time, you both just needed company.
The team all made sure to try to do little things for you. They bought you flowers, took you out for lunches. Price did whatever he could to attempt to keep you from spiraling. He even offered to let you give him a haircut, knowing you’d always make fun of him for how scruffy he was.
Gaz would make you sweets or help with chores around base. He would take you on walks or take you with on errands just so you wouldn’t be alone.
No matter what though, you still had this void in your life. You felt like a piece of you drifted away on that cliff with his ashes. It felt like you had watched your life dissipate into the wind.
He took a part of you with him, and you were afraid you’d never get it back.
You’d spend countless nights looking at old photos, reading old love notes he wrote you. You’d watch videos of him just to keep his voice fresh in your memory.
The only thing you were beginning to forget was his touch. The way his hands would ignite sparks at the slightest graze was slowly leaving you. The gentleness of his grasp was slipping away.
You missed him so bad, and it was beginning to become unbearable.
You were awake one night a couple of days after his death, lost in a rabbit hole of pictures and videos. It was nearly 3 AM, but you didn’t notice nor dare. A knock hit your door, and it creaked open to reveal Simon.
“Hey Johnny have you seen my-“ He looked up at you and realized his mistake. “I’m sorry Y/N…”
It took you a second to collect yourself but you smiled at him. “Hi Simon. Are you okay?” You watched as he began to slightly tear up. Simon wasn’t a cryer, but Soap’s death has broke him to his core.
“I miss him.” He said, his voice breaking your own heart. You looked down for a second, deciding if you were ready.
“Need a friend?” You said as you patted the side of the bed where Johnny used to sleep. Simon nodded but paused.
“Are you sure?” He said, cautious.
“Mhm. It feels too empty in here. It’s too quiet.” Simon nodded again as he removed his mask and sat next to you.
You both sat and reminisced on Johnny’s life. Sharing memories and laughs, you both began to feel better.
“I’m gonna try to get some rest. Just wake me if you need anything okay?” You began to lay down, feeling the bed shift as Simon rolled over with a ‘Goodnight.’
You felt the mattress dip and it’s like your body went into shock. That feeling was all to familiar and your brain was screaming at you to turn over and look for Johnny.
Sniffles began to sound out of you at the feeling and the memories it brought to your mind. Maybe you weren’t ready after all.
“Hey, are you okay?” You felt Simon place his hand on you gently.
“I don’t know.” You sobbed out, not strong enough to look at him.
“Do me a favor, roll over.” He helped you move onto your opposite side to face him. “Trust me?” You nodded and he pulled you into his chest as he held you, brushing his fingers through your hair and quietly shushing you. “I know how bad it hurts and I’m so sorry.”
From that night forward, Simon spent almost every night in your room, just so you both could actually get some sleep. The comfort of having someone there brought you both peace.
Weeks had gone by and you realized something was off with yourself. You woke up and looked at the day and panicked.
You were a week late.
You sneakily ran down to the store a block away and bought a pregnancy test, or two, or three.
Running back to your room unseen, you were quick to unwrap them and take them.
Minutes passed that felt like hours when your timer went off. You flipped each one over, looking at the results.

“Shit!” You yelled, your hands flying to your hair. As soon as the word left your mouth, you heard your door open and Simon enter. “Y/N?? You here? We missed you at training.”
You walked out of your bathroom, quickly shutting the door behind you and standing in front of it. “Are you okay? You look pale.” Simon walked up to you and placed his hands on your face to feel for a fever.
“Yeah I’m fine, I woke up late.”
“No, something’s wrong. Your eyes widened when something’s wrong and your pupils are dilated. Your breathing is elevated too.” How the fuck does he know that?!
“Just panicked about the fact I woke up late.” You shrugged it off, unmoving.
“What’s in the bathroom Y/N?” His voice drew serious. He wasn’t asking, he was telling you to move.
“Nasty stuff really, that time of the month ya know?” He didn’t believe you.
“Let me see. Nothing I haven’t seen before. In fact, I’ve seen worse.” What the fuck? “Please move.”
You swallowed HARD. “I don’t want you to see it though.”
“Y/N. Move. I know better than that. I’m not stupid. Let me see the bathroom.”
It took a lot of arguing before you stepped aside. Simon walked past you and his eyes laid on the tests. “You’re pregnant? This is what you were hiding?”
He turned to you. “Yeah…I don’t know how far along I am.” Simon nodded and chewed on his lip for a moment in thought.
“Johnny’s?”
Although it wasn’t a question, it was more of a statement, it hung heavy in the air. “Yeah, Johnny.”
Simon audibly swallowed as he continued to stare at the positive text on each one. He hasn’t moved hardly past the doorframe, hand still on the knob.
“I’ll help you.”
“Huh?” His words hadn’t registered in your mind yet.
“This is going to be okay. I’ll help you.” Simon turned to you and grabbed your hands, squeezing them. “You’re going to be okay.”
And you were. Simon helped you. You both went to appointments and began to buy things little by little. Simon even applied for housing so you didn’t have to do this in the barracks.
6 months in and it turned out everything was going to be okay.

Towing my Heart
Summary: Kenny works odd jobs as a mechanic, he's been in places many people didn't even know existed, so when he gets a call for the crux of heaven, hell, and earth alike, he isn't really fazed.

Tumblr media
"Y'ello?" Kenny began with as he picked up the phone, kicking his feet up on his desk as he spoke.
"Hi, uhm, this is McCormick Auto-Repair right?" Came a somewhat nervous voice from the other side.
"That it is, Kenny McCormick speaking, should I bring the paperwork with me?" Kenny asked, "Or if you want to make an appointment I can put you on the other line with Karen."
"No, no I'm not making an appointment," His client said, "My names Kyle by the way."
"Nice chatting with ya Kyle, so, where are you and do you know what the problem is?" Kenny asked as he stood up, pacing a little bit around his office.
"My alternators been going awry for a while now, and it was really fucking with me, so I swerved off the side of the road to avoid it," Kyle explained, Kenny gave a hum to go on. Kyle gave a sigh of embarrassment, "Something scraped and I'm pretty sure something important is leaking."
Kenny had to hold back a laugh, "I'll be over with a tow, where can I find you?"
"You know that gas station right where you can enter Heaven or Hell? I'm just past that on the way out, it's not super far from the town you're situated in if I read your business card correctly," Kyle said.
"That is the worst place to break down," Kenny said, reaching for his tool box as he made his way through the building, "Please tell me you're using an all terrain vehicle with a roof."
"Of course," Kyle said, "Why does that matter?"
"Imp attacks have been rampant lately, so stay in your car until I get there," Kenny said as calmly as he could manage.
"Alright, will do," Kyle said.
"See you in thirty," Kenny said before hanging up.
He tapped gently on the window of the car his coworker was working. He raised his head from under the steering wheel in an instant, he wiped a smudge of something from his face. There wasn't usually liquid in that compartment which was just a bit worrying.
"What's up?" Craig asked.
"I'm heading out to tow someone, could you work on the Jeeps exhaust leak while I'm gone?" Kenny asked, leaning on the sill of the window a little bit.
Craig nodded, "Totally," He hauled himself up from his crooked position, "Just gimme a minute to stretch."
"Be back in an hour man," Kenny said, giving a grin and a fist bump before taking his leave.
-/-/-/-
Kyle sat in his car impatiently, he was really, really glad that he was here to drop off Stan instead of pick him up. He couldn't imagine being towed with Stan and some guy neither of them know, it's a lot easier to ignore conversation if it's just one person. Being told to stay cooped up in his car really isn't helping his morals either, he just wanted to get home so he could help Ike with his homework. And now he's stuck here, in his car, overheating, stupid heatproof enchantment was already wearing off.
He tried to turn on his car and it rumbled to life begrudgingly, he flicked on the AC and let the small amount of cool air wash over him. It'd probably feel colder if he stayed outside for a bit first, but, he couldn't do that. Imp attacks, or angels being pissed off, it's been known to happen before. He'd be fine though, he'd be perfectly and completely safe outside.
He pushes open his door and leans against the side of his car that's weakly running, he stuffs his jacket inside as he kicks around a rock. He just meanders aimlessly around his car and across the barren and cracked road, rarely glancing around as he did so. He looked up at the sound of wings flapping to find imps hanging in the sky holding crossbows and pebbles. He squinted a bit before realizing that he was the one they were going to shoot at.
Fear kept him paralyzed as he watched the pebbles start to come down, aim erring ever closer to his form. Then he swore he could hear the trigger of the crossbow being pull, arrow coming way to fast. He barely moved fast enough to dodge it, the red barbed tip not even bending as it hit the asphalt. He felt like he was doing some stupid dance as he pranced about the small stretch of road to try and survive.
Theoretically speaking he could hide in his car, but then the damage would be worse, and he'd have to pay more, and that did not sound ideal in the slightest. He looked down the road desperately to find that a tow truck was indeed coming and relief flood his form. He practically dashed over to whatever he could hide behind that wasn't his car. He ended up taking cover behind a gnarled tree that was losing it's final leaves for the season. The thunk of arrows and the screech of tires was not exactly pleasing to hear, but the screaming to 'Get the fuck away!' was.
Kyle leaned over to peer behind the tree to find his tow truck guy heaving heavy breaths and adjusting his baseball cap. Kyle could instantly see the golden band on his wrist, bright and luminous despite how barren the area was. He hesitantly stood up and walked over to his car, the heat of the area was really starting to get to him.
The tow truck guy perked up a bit and gave a sharky grin before holding out a hand that Kyle reluctantly took. His hands were calloused and rough, "Hi, I'm Kenny, I take it you're Kyle?"
"That's right, and this is my problem child," Kyle said, gesturing to his beloved Subaru. Forest green and with a couple zip tie patch ups where the metal tore due to excessive rusting.
Kenny stared in silence for a moment.
"We love her, a lot," Kyle said, trying to break the silence.
"I can tell by her condition," Kenny got out after clearing his throat, "Nice zip tie job."
Kyle gave a nervous laugh as Kenny made his way to start looking for the tow hook, "Gotta make do with what you got, Stan did it."
"Oh? And who might this Stan be?" Kenny asked innocently, "If you wanna chat."
"Chattings fine, you're fun to talk to," Kyle answered with.
Kenny popped up from the ground and made his way to lower the bed of his truck, "Then tell me more."
"Stan is my good buddy, since kindergarten actually, I'm pretty sure he has some demonic lineage but that's fine," Kyle explained as he watched Kenny hook up the car to the rope with rapt attention. Maybe he shouldn't be staring at the mechanic like a starving animal, but each move of a limb is just a bit attractive. He doesn't exactly see guys who do physical work a lot from a close distance, he isn't one either, flipping patties, "That or he just really likes the food they serve in hell."
"Hell does have some killer food I'll give 'em that," Kenny said as he started on pulling in the car, he stopped when he noticed it was on, "You okay if I grab the keys?"
"Go for it," Kyle answered with calmly.
"You can keep talking about Stan," Kenny said as he turned off the car and slammed the door shut.
"Yeah, Stan, Stan, Stan, he's trying to become an astronomer these days," Kyle explained as he made his way to the cab end of the truck. He watched with intrigue as the "I never thought he would but here we are."
"Ain't that the truth, I never thought me and my sister would be running an auto-repair shop but here I am! Towing some lovely looking guys Subaru at the cusp of hell," Kenny said, throwing a wink Kyles way, it had him short circuiting, "Just teasing Kyle, I'll stop if that Stan guy is actually your BF."
"He's my best friend, I haven't had a boyfriend for a while now," Kyle said.
Kenny gave a sympathetic hum, "Real shame, hop in if you want a ride to the shop."
Kyle swung open the door and slid onto the torn leather sit, he kicked at a couple empty plastic cups on the floor. He reached for his seat belt and did it up, "Any idea what she's leaking?!"
"I think it's the coolant, which is gonna be a big problem if you don't get it fixed soon!" Kenny said as he held a hand under the leak and inspected the fluid briefly, he wiped it down on his coveralls. He unhooked the winch and secured the wheels in place before hopping in, "Shouldn't cost a whole lot if you got a good job."
"Oh I do not have enough money for an alternator and a coolant leak," Kkyle groaned as he held his face in his hands, he jumped a bit as the truck started, the engine fired a bit. He held a brief concerned look.
"Don't worry she does it all the time," Kenny said as he rolled off down the highway. He reached over absently in the center console of the car, "Now, paperwork."
"Could we do it when we reach the shop?" Kyle asked.
"Totally, but we should talk a little bit about prices though," Kenny said hesitantly, "The alternator is gonna be real fucking hefty, and the coolant leak, depending on how bad it is could cost over a thousand dollars."
"Lovely," Kyle said, "I couldn't pay you in other methods could I?"
Kenny hummed as though deep in thought, "Well, if you take me out for a meal I could do the coolant for free."
"Really?!" Kyle asked, sheer hope clear on his voice.
Kenny gave a warm laugh, "No, fuck no, sorry mate."
"Dammit," Kyle muttered, "Don't get my hopes up like that."
"I'll try Kyle," Kenny answered with.
-/-/-/-
Two flat tires, a busted spark plug, and some body work later and Kenny and Kyle have gotten into a lovely rhythm of things. Kyle calls up and asks Kenny to come over and give him and he does exactly as told like he's a dog. Or the one time Kyle scheduled and appointment Karen got to bring up how great of a guy he is with Kenny afterwards. It was a tense dinner of takeout that night, what with Karen teasing her brother and him giving feeble 'stop it's in response.
And Craig is still the diligent and somewhat stoic worker he's always been, aware of every interaction between Kenny and Kyle when they're in the shop. Much like Karen, and unlike Kyle, he isn't blind to whats got Kenny twisted up inside. He doesn't say anything to Kyle, not ever, more afraid of losing his job than anything else at the moment.
Still, one more call is received and this time it's a blown head gasket.
Kenny is at the scene in an instant.
"Thanks for coming so soon," Kyle got out nervously as he helped Kenny hook the car onto the winch.
"Don't worry about it," Kenny answered with as he started to roll it on, "That's what us repair men are for."
"I know, I know, still feels like I'm taking up way too much of your time," Kyle said as he popped open the passenger door and slid in, no wrappers, "I see you cleaned up the place."
"Some lady was a total bitch and went off about her high heels getting sticky," Kenny said, a near snort of amusement came with the memory.
Kyle gave a hum, "Makes sense."
"Also you stepped on a rotting half eaten burger last time and I nearly vomited right then and there at the notions of more than one being in here," Kenny added on with a nervous laugh.
"Yeah that was hella nasty," Kyle said with a grin on his face as they rolled out. His eyes were quick to fix on the golden band around Kennys wrist.
Kenny took note, "Like the bling?"
"I've been wondering about it lately," Kyle said, reaching out to touch it, Kenny jerked his hand away.
"Family tradition, my sister and brother have one too," Kenny said, he sounded tense, "Don't know how my parents afford some weird gold mineral mix but they did."
"Can it come off?" Kyle asked, Kenny shook his head.
"Nope! We're stuck with it forever, till we're in the dirt," He drummed his fingers on the steering wheel as he spoke, "I'm just glad it's comfy."
"It should chafe," Kyle said, "But there's no reddening near the edge at all."
"Magic," Kenny answered with.
Kyle pursed his lips before speaking, "Is it what let's you get so close to the crux without a heat guard enchantment?"
Kenny froze up, "I'm naturally immune to heat."
"Bullshit," Kyle said bluntly, "Unless you happen to be supernatural, or like, a demon."
"I'm a little bit not human," Kenny said, "That's all I'll divulge unless you want me to remove your discount."
"I nearly forgot about the discount," Kyle said, backing away from the subject, "Awful sweet of you."
Kenny gave a hum, "You're awfully cute and have a lot of car problems, shocked the head gasket didn't go faster considering the rep Subarus have."
"Well, you're to put simply, an angel Kenny," Kyle said, a smile on his face as he spoke.
"Thanks darling," Kenny got out, grip on the steering wheel tightening so subtly Kyle didn't notice it, "I think the head gaskets gonna cost one point five K."
"Fucking hell," Kyle groaned out.
"Heres hoping only the gasket is gone then," Kenny answered with stiffly.
"Heres hoping," Kyle answered with.
-/-/-/-
"Craig!" Came Kennys voice as he slid over a wrench.
"Yeah boss?" Craig answered with calmly as he leaned on the hood of the car Kenny was working on the underbelly of.
"I think I'm in love," Kenny said, sliding out from under the car.
"Here we go again," Craig said bluntly.
"He's amazing Craig, he's absolutely lovely, shame he's been having good luck with his car lately," Kenny gave a weak laugh as he sat up, cracking his back, "I'd love to see him again."
"He came in here two weeks ago with a popped tire, and just yesterday for an oil check," Craig said.
"Yeah but, I wanna tow his car again, chat with him on the road," Kenny said, pouting a bit.
Craig reached for the golden band on Kennys wrist, "Couldn't you use your angel powers to give him a broken transmission?"
"That'd cost him so much! I can't do that," Kenny said, snatching away his wrist, "I could, but I won't is what I mean."
"You could use it to make him fall for you," Craig offered.
"No way in Heaven or Hell," Kenny said, he fiddled with the halo he so rarely wore above his head, "Besides, we're plenty close even without it."
"Sure, ask him out next time you get a chance to tow him," Craig said.
Kenny rolled his eyes, "Maybe I will, maybe I won't."
Then the phone rang, and Kenny was rushing over to answer it, giving the regular spiel. He started grinning like a love struck teenage girl the second he recognized the voice. He nodded and gave generic answers before getting the same location he always does and hanging up.
"I'm out to give Kyle a tow," Kenny said, a bit of pep to his step as he made his way across the hard concrete flooring.
"Ask him out!" Craig called out.
"I'm not doing it!" Kenny called back.
When the door of the truck slammed shut Craig was back to working on the car.
"Fucking dumbass," Craig muttered to himself as he jacked the car a bit higher, "That guy obviously likes him."
-/-/-/-
Kenny was just about to ready to rip someones head off at the sight laid out before him. Of course the demons were finally deciding to mess with some mortals just for the heck of it. He slammed his hand on the horn and held it there as he watched them scratch up Kyles car and hold him hostage. Eventually they all turned over and were those tears in Kyles eyes? Oh god they were, and his jacket is starting to char. Kyle was quick to stare at his car again and plead for them to stop scratching his paint job and tearing the zip tie job.
The McCormick took a steadying breath as he slid off his halo and tightening his coveralls a bit. He gently placed his halo to rest at his throat, tight like a collar but held like a beacon of royalty, it brought an eminence to his existence. He pushed open his car door and hopped out, he didn't even bother to close it again as he made his way to the demons and Kyle.
"Fellas I would highly recommend you back the fuck away from my property," Kenny said rather boldly as he gestured to the car, and the to Kyle, "He's my client, don't know what made you think you had rights to touch him Cartman."
Red rose to Kyles face at the notions of being Kennys property.
"What makes you think you have the right to talk to me like that Kenny?" Cartman spat back as he shoved away Kyle.
Kenny brushed past the demons scratching up Kyles car, they had stopped, "Would you believe me if I said the wings on my back?"
"Ha, really wanna bust those bad boys out with a mortal watching?" Cartman countered with tauntingly.
Kenny paused, "Well, I suppose I don't," He rolled up his sleeve, "You and your goons have a five second head start before I start fighting."
Cartman gave a singular laugh, "Sure, your prissy boyfriend is still watching."
"He's not my boyfriend," Kenny said, "Three seconds left."
Cartman stood still.
"Be that way," Kenny answered with.
His fist hit Cartman hard in the sternum, and he shot back, a sting on his chest. He pivoted on his heel and simply reveled in the terror on the others faces, they easily started to run and take off. Kenny chased after them and vaulted himself off the hood of Kyles car, he wouldn't charge for it. He latched onto one of their sets of legs and dragged them down.
"Don't think you're getting away that easily," Kenny snarled as he tossed the demon down, their friend staring in shock. He stamped on their tail and they screamed, "You! Yeah you!"
The demon stayed silent, "Yeah?"
"You have two choices, take your friend and go unharmed, or sit there like a stunned cunt and fucking regret it," Kenny snapped.
They sat there like a stunned cunt.
"Wrong choice," Kenny got out quietly before forcing himself up, big bright wings tearing the back of his coveralls as he pumped them.
The demon attempted to scramble off but it really didn't make any difference in the slightest. Kenny still latched on and hit them hard enough to break their nose, tainted black blood splashing his outfit and his face. They dropped in mere seconds, tail thudding against the roof of Kyles car.
"My car!" Kyle exclaimed.
"Sorry darling!" Kenny shouted back before lunging for Cartman who was barely up.
His hands came to rest at the demons throat and sternum as he ran him into the dirt for a good two feet. Skidding and scraping thick scales along the asphalt, his tail thrashed and he ended up latching onto Kennys waist and wing, claws digging in. Kenny merely grit his teeth before squeezing a lot tighter around Cartmans windpipes.
"Who the fuck said you could touch anything an angel laid hands?" Kenny snarled out.
"You and I both know you're not a fucking angel, you're some shitfaced half blood son of a whore," Cartman spat back in a smarmy tone.
Kenny would've bashed his skull in right then and there, finally ridding the menace that's been lingering around his lineage for hundreds of years.
But he doesn't.
Instead he stands up and backs away, hands raised.
"Fine, leave, go, next time I will kill you," Kenny said as he made his way to his tow truck to find Kyle already hooking up the winch.
There was no idle chitchat as they hooked up the car and pulled it onto the raised bed. Not a single word was spoken as they watched Cartman fly off, Kenny ruffling his feathers in annoyance. Tense silence washed over them as they started down the road, by now they'd be flirting in a half joking manner, making never fulfilled promises about checking out a new restaurant.
Kenny heaved a heavy sigh and Kyle instantly looked over to him, "Please don't snitch."
"What?" Was all that Kyle could produce in response.
"Angels aren't allowed to integrate into human society, I'll get smited by God himself," Kenny explained.
"I won't snitch, you're only a halfling anyways," Kenny said.
"Even worse," Kenny sighed out, "Even worse."
Kyle paused, "The dent in my hood?"
"I'll fix it with a fifty percent discount," Kenny said before swiftly tacking on, "Seventy cause you're cute."
Kyle doesn't respond with any of his usual answers and Kenny knows he's truly fucked up.
"Look, you're probably never gonna come back to McCormick Auto-Repair so can I get something off of my chest real quick?" Kenny asked as gently as he could despite the tightening grasp on the steering wheel.
"Go for it," Kyle said dismissively.
"I fucking, I'm in love with you, all of you. Every last part of you. And I'm not just saying that cause you're good for the business. I'm saying that cause I adore you, everyone can fucking confirm if you don't believe me," Kenny got out as earnestly as he could, trying to keep his eyes on the road.
"Oh thank fuck," Came Kyles shocking response, "Feelings mutual."
"You're not just joking around?" Kenny asked, sounding impossibly unsure of himself.
"I'm not man, you've always been an angel to me and everyone else, and now I know you're half one at least," Kyle explained, "I thought you'd take a hint."
"I thought the same," Kenny answered with, "So, paperwork."
"When we get back?" Kyle asked.
"Of course, of course, but I'm saying we plan a date too," Kenny offered, lifting his grasp on the drivers wheel briefly as he spoke.
"Totally man, that sounds perfect," Kyle answered with impossibly fast, and then he tacks on the nickname, "Angel."
He revels in the way Kennys wings fluff up in a flustered state, "Shut up."
-/-/-/-
Craig is the one to answer the door at the front of the shop, Kenny stuck in the midst of cleaning up a small spill of oil. He finds Kyle standing at the door, grinning a stupid grin and holding a bag in one hand.
"Here for Kenny?" Craig asked, Kyle nodded.
"First date," Kyle said, "I also got you a small gift, and Karen too."
Craig quirked a brow, "Oh really?"
Kyle reached into the bag and pulled out a bag of jerky, "Teriyaki flavor."
"Thanks, Kennys cleaning up some oil right now so you're gonna have to wait," Craig explained as he let Kyle in, "Karens in her office if you want to chat with her."
Kyle simply shrugged, "I'll give her the gift later, it's just some new pens and notepads."
"She'll really appreciate those," Craig said as he led Kyle to the main garage part of the shop.
Kyle peered around the edge of the door, finding Kenny kneeling on the ground and scrubbing idly at a spill of what was clearly more than oil. It smelt like a horrible blend of radiator fluid, oil, and a bit of root beer, clearly strong enough to make Kenny wince with the collar of his shirt pulled to his nose in one hand.
"Oi! Kenny!" Craig shouted, drawing up the hybrids attention, "Your dates here."
"It's already six?" Came Kennys response as he stood up, stretching his arms over his head and shaking down his wings, a few flecks of black fluid coming off.
"Already six," Craig said as Kenny walked over, wiping down his hands on his coveralls. He made sure to avoid the few patches that Kyle had stitched on for him.
"I haven't finished cleaning the spill yet," Kenny got out nervously, "Maybe we could postpone?"
"That's fine, just don't overwork yourself angel," Kyle said before placing a small kiss to Kennys cheek, tactfully avoiding any car fluids that had gotten on his boyfriends face.
"I won't," Kenny said before returning the favor, "Promise."
Craig gently pushed them apart, "I'll work on the spill, just tell Karen that you're heading out before you go."
Kenny pulled Craig in for a quick hug, "Thanks man, I owe you one."
"You owe me one hundred at this point," Craig said with a sigh as he pulled up the zipper on his coveralls.
"Let's go tell Karen what's happening," Kenny said, taking hold of Kyles hand and dragging him over to Karens office.
Kyle gladly followed, interlacing their fingers comfortably, the halo Kenny wore as his bracelet clinking comfortably against the silver band he had gotten for Kyle. A bright yellow Citrine sat embedded in the middle of it with Garnets on either side. It was, if nothing else, one of Kyles most prized possession, he wore it everywhere that he could.
"Hey Karen!" Kenny exclaimed as he waltzed into his little sisters office.
"Yeah bro?" Karen asked as she looked up from her schedule book.
"Me and Kyle are heading out on a date tonight, Craigs in the shop," Kenny said, pointing behind him as he spoke to the shop.
Kyle took a hesitant step in, "I recently got you something."
"Really?" Karen asked.
Kyle nodded as he reached into his bag, "Yeah! Definitely, you're fucking amazing, it's not much though," He placed down the pack of blue pens and the notepad, "I just heard you complaining about running out of pens."
"Thanks Kyle," Karen said as she tore open the pack, "Hope you two have fun, but not to much, Kenny still has work tomorrow."
"Will you please not?" Kenny asked desperately, red tinting his face at the knowing smirk his sister wore, his wings fluffed up whether he liked it or not.
"Hey man! I'm just stating the obvious!" Karen said in jest as she threw her hands up in faux surrender, "Now get out! I have work to do."
"Jeez, no need to be so moody," Kenny teased back as he pulled Kyle out of his sisters office.
He eagerly led Kenny out back to the junkyard, giving quiet 'hurry up's all the way there. There was a slight bounce to his step as he tugged along his partner of one month, maybe two.
"C'mon man, I have a gift out here, for you," Kenny said, gripping Kyles other hand as he spoke.
"Really? You hid a gift, in a junkyard?" Kyle asked, "If it's something small I know for a fact you lost it."
"Hey! I did not," Kenny spat defensively, a bit of a pout on his face as he spoke, "It's something big, trust me."
"Okay, I trust you," Kyle said, then Kenny released his hands before swiveling around behind him.
Kenny raised his hands to cover Kyles eyes, "Cool, then just do what I say, take five steps forward."
Kyle did as told, "Now I'm really fucking curious."
"Rightfully so, turn left," Kenny instructed, following Kyles motions closely to keep his eyes covered all the while. He shuffled his wings a bit as he moved.
"Your feathers are kind of grimy," Kyle said.
"I haven't had a chance to preen recently," Kenny answered with, "Five more steps."
Kyle gave a hum as he stepped forward, "I could help."
"Last time you helped it did not end up with me any cleaner," Kenny chided.
"It was fun," Kyle answered with.
"It was, but this time I want them actually clean," Kenny said, "Ready?"
Kyle nodded, "Sure."
Kenny lifted his hands, "Voila!"
Kyle was absolutely speechless at the sight before him.
"I fixed up a near identical version of your old Subaru for you, gave it some stripes, made it so it sounds really loud when you rev," Kenny explained, as he rifled through his pockets.
"Kenny," Kyle managed breathlessly, euphoria shooting through every inch of his body. That was his car, just like his old one, but better. And Kenny did it for him, bought and fixed an entire car after not even three months of a relationship.
"And here," Kenny began as he jingled the key ring, "Are the keys."
Kyle hesitantly took them.
"Go to her Kyle, she's all yours," Kenny said with a nod before watching Kyle rush off to start up the car.
He was absolutely giddy as he revved the engine and inspected the upholstery. The steering wheel was plush under his fingers and the gearshift had a little heart embroidered in it. The backseats where clearly patched up, some from his favorite bands, some simple graphics. He pulled open the glovebox and found a cardboard box inside, he eagerly pulled it open, finding a hat inside.
Kenny pulled open the passenger door and slid in, "Too much?"
"You are hereby unrequired to get me any gifts for the next ever is how much," Kyle said as he tugged on the green hat, two flaps on either side of his head, "No big ones at least."
"Well, I sort of had the crews help with this one," Kenny said, "Craig helped me choose the seat types and Karen did the little upholstered bits- I just did the technical stuff."
"Still! A whole fucking car! That's insane," Kyle said in sheer disbelief as he hesitantly pulled out the spot and started through the junkyard, "Crazy even."
"I found it a crime you didn't have a working car," Kenny said as he pulled on his seat belt, "Now, we're checking out that new restaurant right?"
Kyle nodded, "Yeah, I also got you a gift though."
"Really?" Kenny asked as he started on stuffing his wings back into his coveralls.
"Really! It's not nearly as good as this one though," Kyle said, reaching into the back for his bag. Kenny handed it over and watched with intent as Kyle pulled out a box.
"hey, I'll love it all the same," Kenny said with a sly smile on his face, one he almost always wore.
"Here," Kyle said, handing Kenny the box.
Kenny popped it open and went silent, eyes wide, "Darling."
"I can get a different one if you don't like it," Kyle said with a nervous laugh.
"Kyle I love it," Kenny got out quietly, absolutely stunned at the gift. He slowly slid it onto his wrist, a silver band like Kyles except with Orange Zircon in the center skirted by two pieces of Lapis Lazuli. He stared at it, "It's beautiful."
"Really?" Kyle asked.
"Yes really! I love it almost as much as I love you," Kenny answered with as he pressed a kiss to Kyles cheek once more, not wanting to distract him from the road too much.
"Cool, now we have actual matchies," Kyle said, lifting his hand and nodding towards his wrist.
Kenny clinked his bracelet against Kyles, "Almost like wedding rings."
"Hey maybe that'll be my next gift for you," Kyle said with a laugh.
"Jeez so I have to wait a whole year till I get another gift?" Kenny teased.
"You'll simply have to wait and see," Kyle answered with.

Zombies request: Allison’s adopted brother being a werewolf, and when the wolves come to town, and Willa becomes a never sister to Y/N, but some people in the town one night hurt Y/N and both sisters (Willa and Addison) help nurse Y/N back to health as Willa plans her revenge?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(The wolves call you Wade, I hope that's okay)
"There's no way she's the great alpha." "Mn." "I'm sorry, but there- That can't be." "Mn, i finally have an opportunity to find my true self. I can't just let this opportunity slip through my fingers."
Mn sighs, not believing that Addison thought she was a werewolf, that she wanted to stay with the wolves. He ends up turning around and leaving the cave. "Mn, wait!" Bree called out but he didn't turn back.
When the quakes from testing charges for Seabrook Power demolition reached the cave and Addison connected the dots that the Moonstone might be at Seabrook power, Wyatt was honestly impressed.
"She found the Moonstone. She's amazing. Maybe she could even help us find Wade." "Wyatt, Wade has been missing for years, who knows if he's still alive." "Come on, we have his necklace still." "It's more for memory." "Willa..." She walks away and Wyatt pulls out a diamond shaped moonstone, rubbing his thumb over the string that's wrapped around it before bringing up in his clenched fist and pressing a kiss to it. He's not giving up on their brother, he knows Wade is still alive, he can feel it.
Tumblr media
The next morning, Mn sat next to Addison in front of their parents. She still had her look from the previous night and Mn still wouldn't talk to her.
He did think about the previous night, the wolves all had one white streak and Mn was always told he was born with his white streak but there's no way he would be a werewolf too. He was found in the middle of seabrook forest by some hikers at a young age, no sign or note from potential parents. The hikers took him to Seabrook adoption center and that's where he was found by The Wells, soon gaining a mom, dad, and sister, gaining a family.
He shakes his head, putting down his spoon before getting up and walking out of the house, ignoring his parents calls.
Halfway to school, he noticed some of the nearby wolves staring at him along with some other humans. He started showing his hair a year after his sister, he wasn't as bold as Addison but eventually he realized that he shouldn't have to worry about others. Okay, maybe Addison talked to him and he didn't realize it in his own but he did eventually get rid of the scratchy brunette wig.
Without paying attention, he bumped into someone. Looking up, he saw it was Wyatt. "Oh, hi." He said shortly, going to walk off when Wyatt stopped him. "Wait, I was wondering if we could chat." "About what?" "Wow, you're sassy. You sound like Wade." "Who?" "Um, Wade. Me and Willa's brother, he was separated from the pack when we were younger." "That why you have two of those?" Mn said, pointing to the moonstone necklace around Wyatt's wrist. "Yeah. This was his." "Well...it does look pretty." "Thanks. Willa has lost hope that Wade is still alive but I believe you are- I believe that he is still alive." Him cutting himself off kinda had you judging him but you shook it off.
C'mon, Wyatt, do something "Um, I-I'm pretty sure it's dead after so long, basically a plain necklace. Do you want it?" "Oh, I couldn't take your brothers necklace. Like you said, he could still be out there." I know you're Wade, just take the necklace "It's okay. It's been like fourteen years since we last saw him or heard him. Starting to think Willa is right." He unwraps it from his wrist and puts it in Mn's hand. "It's okay, really." Mn sighs, Surprised at how well Wyatt can pull off sad puppy eyes. "Okay, okay, I'll take it. I'll put it on later though, okay?" "Yeah, okay." "Okay, well, I'm gonna head off to the school now." "Right, see you later, Wade." Wyatt calls out and Mn goes to correct him but the wolf was already gone.
Tumblr media
Mn hadn't put the necklace on yet. He didn't put it on later as told. He didn't put it on a day later, he didn't put it on at all. Something about Wyatt's tone just didn't sit right with him.
Eventually, he did get over his anxiety about it and put it on. It was instant, he felt his canines grow longer along with his nails. He fell to the floor, to his hands and knees as he adjusts to the new feeling in his veins. When he stood back up, leaning on his vanity in his bathroom, his eyes were glowing yellow and the necklace was blue. Suddenly he was taken to the floor again as he coughed and his stone turned green, Wyatt was right about it being dead, it was almost completely out of charge. Mn coughed for about five minutes before it stopped and he moved to lay on his back.
This can't be happening.
Tumblr media
At the demolition site, after saving the building from demolition, Mn watched carefully as Addison put on her necklace and waited but when she turned, he only saw his sister, nothing new.
When one of the workers said there was a malfunction and suddenly the building was blown up, Mn felt the effects a moment later along with the other wolves, he was brought to his hands and knees again as he felt week. "Mn?" Addison was crouched down in front of him a moment later, gasping when his moonstone swung out from under his shirt. "Mn, what-" "Wade?" He looked up, seeing Willa and Wyatt looking at him in shock and happiness despite their moonstone just being crushed.
He looked back to Addison, panting as a sudden pain grew in his chest. "Addy...I'm sorry..." With a final sigh, Mn fell onto his side, passing out. "Mn!"
Tumblr media
When Mn woke up, Wyatt never left his side, always finding opportunities to hug him. Willa came around too, and Wyatt never let Willa forget that he was right and he knew that their brother was still alive.
When they unburied the moonstone, Mn felt a lot better with a charged moonstone, more awake and less weak. He lived between his home and the den and Willa and Addison have been the best sisters ever, plus Wyatt being a clingy brother, he had fun giving Mn his markings back.
One weekend, early evening, Mn went of to find coach and get some fro-yo for him, Addison, and Willa. He was having a 'sister day' as Addison told him and so far they were having fun, deciding to have a sweet treat with them before he heads off with Willa to the den.
When he found the cart but no coach, he sighed, the closed sign staring back at him and he sighs. A little bummed that their dessert plan is canceled, he turns around to go back and ask if they wanted to get ice cream instead when he was greeted by a couple of his human classmates. "Oh, hey guys." He greets them, they're his friends so he was happy to see them.
Without warning, one of them hooks their foot behind his knee and pulls, knocking Mn to the ground. "Hey, what was that for? Thought we were friends." "Why would we want to be friends with a mutt." "You were cooler before you turned into one of them." "Come on, guys, they're no different than Zombies, they're cool." "You're right, they are no different than Zombies, their monsters." "Wait, that not what I meant-" A fist collides with his face and a foot to his stomach. He could take them if he wolfed out but the comments flying at him as they beat him up clouded his mind.
"Hey!" The boys who once surrounded him were no longer there and he felt a calm hand on his face. "Hey, Mn, can you hear me?" He's rolled over onto his back and Addison cradles his face. "Can you hear me?" "Addy?" "Yeah, it's okay. We'll take care of you." Willa manages to pick Mn up and they go to Addison's house.
In Mn's room, Addison and Willa patched him up and Addison currently sat on the edge of his bed, cleaning up some blood from his eyebrow and cut lip. Willa was switching between pacing and sitting at Mn's desk, thinking before she stands from her place at Mn's desk and walks out. "Wait, Willa, where are you going?" "You'll know." She answered, leaving Addison to tend to their brother.
Tumblr media
The next day, Willa found the classmates from the night before in the hallway, just her and the three boys. When they got closer to her, she stepped in their way. "Hey, Mutt, move out of the way." Her eyes glowed gold and her moonstone blue as she bared her teeth and claws at the boys. "Oh, the puppy is so scary." She lunged at that boy and he jumped back in fear. She laughs to herself.
"What? Scared? Just last night you were beating up my brother. You were all bark then but when you come face to face with the pack alpha you can't retaliate? Come on, fight me, too. No one can get away with beating up my brother and not deal with me." "That freak is your brother too? I see where the lameness comes from." Willa lunges again, scratching his arm and drawing blood. "I can do a lot more damage. You gonna fight back or are you all bark and no bite?" "No, we can take you." "Then do it!" She snarled.
"Um, actually, nevermind. We're just gonna go." The one on the right said as he stuttered and tried to pull the other two with him. "What? We can take her, she's just a mutt." "Dude, look what she did to him. That's just her warning, I don't want to know what else she can do." He pulls the injured guy on the left away to get him somewhere to get his arm patched up while the other stays put in front of Willa. "What a bunch of wimps." He mutters before turning around to come face to face with Willa. "You're a wimp too. You haven't moved to beat me up, guess I was right. You don't have a once of bite in you." "Whatever. Gonna go to class, not because you're actually scary." He quickly walks away as Willa calls after him. "Stay away from my brother or you'll get more than just a threat."
Turning around, she sees a patched Mn and Addison standing next to the lockers. "That might've been a bit extra, don't you think 'illa?" "Not at all. No one messes with my pack and gets away with it."
Willa pulls Mn into a side hug on his other side Addison wasn't occupying and gave a small tight squeeze with a smile. "How about we try getting Fro-yo again, yeah?" "Yeah, but this time, we'll all go." "Hey, I would've taken them if I wasn't take back by how they were suddenly attacking me." "Sure you would've." Willa said while laughing as Mn proceeds to defend himself making the girls laugh even more.
Mn likes having another sister, but sometimes it's hard when they both know you too well. But hey, You love them, nothing is stopping that.

Spider Island Episode Treats Leo Horribly
I was rewatching the episode Spider Island and I can’t get over how Adam, Bree, and Chase treated Leo in episode. Leo ditched a field trip to spend the day with his siblings and they all ignore him and don’t want to spend time with him. Leo just looks so happy to be having a day alone with his family. No students, no classes, and no mission. Just his family spending time together. That’s all Leo wants is a day to spend time with Adam, Bree, and Chase. He’s even okay if it’s one of them.
Tumblr media
I ditched the field trip, so I could hang out with you guys.
I am extremely introverted, so I understand needing alone time. I understand Bree wanting to read her book alone without anyone else around. Plus, she is with Leo and the others all day. No one more than me understand wanting to be alone, but I also see Leo’s point in wanting to spend real quality time with family.
Adam clearly wants to do whatever by himself and I understand that. It does bother me that Adam pulls a cruel trick(I don’t think Adam was trying to mean though). He comes back after leaving the room riding a two-person bike. The scene/dialog sets up Adam wanting to hang out with Leo, then as Leo starts to hop Adam says he should have been more polite when saying no to hanging out. Again, I don’t think was trying to be mean. It’s just Adam being Adam.
Well, it's nice to see you've come to your senses.
Chase and Douglas blow Leo off to work on project. Leo does what he always does and tries to self-insert himself into the project with Douglas and Chase. There’s this whole scene where Leo is trying to be apart of the project and Douglas and Chase just pretend Leo isn’t there at all.
Tumblr media
I can’t help, but feel bad for Leo. He just wants to spend time with family. He went to a LOT of trouble to spend time alone with them to only have everyone ignore him. I’m pretty sure Leo was willing to do whatever with his family. Example: Leo was willing to get on bike with Adam, he asked Bree what she wanted to do, went along with spider experiment, and Leo even tried to go on a errand with Douglas and Chase on the mainland(Chase and Douglas slammed the door in Leo face and ignored him when he tried to ask if he could come). Seriously, Leo just wanted to have one day with his family.
Well, if you guys are gonna blow me off, then I'm gonna play with my new pal Spidey.
Leo was wrong to let the spider out of the cage or try to mess with the spider. It feels like a step back in Leo’s character and bugged me when I first watched the episode(still does). The more I think about what Leo did, I think Leo is just acting out and being a little petty over being ignore. I don’t blame Leo for being upset.
Leo wanting to play with spider was reckless and dangerous, but at the same time it’s very in line for Leo’s character. He wants to part of something, so he inserts himself. He always to mess around with technology that both Davenports(Douglas and Donald) create because he finds it cool and fun. Leo often tries to mess around with things he doesn’t fully understand. It’s all in-line with Leo’s character. Throughout the show, Leo has gotten better, but Spider Island in my opinion feels like a step back for Leo. At the same time, the characterization is somewhat justified with how his family is treating him in the episode(and the other island episodes).
Small headcanon: I think that maybe some part of Leo was hoping some that would go wrong(like things often do), so that his family would have to work together to fix it. Maybe that was the reason Leo forgot to re-lock the spider’s cage.
I can’t help, but feel for Leo. He just wanted a day with his family. It is worth noting that by end of episode, Leo and rest of cast are playing cards together. It’s nice to see that Leo finally get what he wanted from the start of the episode.
You see, this is what I'm talking about. A little family bonding.
Spider Island, as episode, is very funny. It’s one of funniest episodes of set on the island. The cast have some great arguing scenes and fun moments. At this point, the whole cast has working together for awhile and they have great comedic timing together. There is great scene after Adam is bitten by the spider and everyone is gathered around the hurt Adam on the couch. It’s not only funny to see how even now they still pass around the blame(like at this point they are all basically adults), but also seeing the level of concern they have for Adam is heartwarming. The scene is just nice that works both comedically and has the right amount of drama/character.
Tumblr media
Spider Island is one of the last true technology gone wrong episodes of Lab Rats. The episode has something one of Davenport brother made gone wrong(usually cause of Leo) then the Leo and bionic trio have to fix the whole mess. This episode format has been with the show since the start. This is one of last episode to only feature the original cast from pre-island days without the students in this kind low-key stakes plot. It is nice breather since a lot of island episodes(season four mostly) is filled with specials/two-parters. There’s a total of six(including the Mighty Med crossover) which takes up roughly 1/13th of the total episodes.
Note: There is Curse of Screaming Skull(features Bob and no other students) and Ultimate Tailgate Challenge(features Tasha, no students, and takes cast off the island).
I do think that Spider Island will never be my favorite episode of Lab Rats. Even after my most recent rewatch, I remember why I don’t watch that episode all that often. Still, I know there are fans who really like the episodes.
Tumblr media
Feel free to tell me your thoughts on the episode.

Tav - Tiefling Bard
Tav x Gale
Bg3 act 3 spoilers
The group returned to camp. An eventful day of scouring Baldur's Gate for resources and allies. Tav traveled with Gale, Wyll, and Shadowheart that day. They'd managed to investigate a series of murders around town and it all ended in a high end tailor's shop. Covered in blood, they begin removing armor and packs first thing.
Karlach bounded up with Scratch and the owlbear cub in tow. "Hey-oh! My people! Out having all the fun."
"I got you a bear," Wyll said, pulling a small toy bear with switched eyes from his armor.
Tav laughed and set a bag of jewelry and bobbles on the table where Astarion sat. With a book in hand and a glass of wine chilling in one of the glasses Gale enchanted. He was waiting for them, though he appeared disinterested, enraptured by his book.
"My gods, you're perfect!" Karlach jumped up, sure that Wyll would catch her. He swung her around easily, using his dancer's feet to offset the force.
"Astarion, I brought you some stones to appraise." Passing judgements was one of Astarion's favorite past times.
"How did it go? Traversing Baldur's Gate without me?" Astarion asked, ignoring the bag.
"We're all Baldurians," Shadowheart pointed out, pulling off her gloves.
"Well, you hardly count my dear because you don't have a memory." Astarion responded.
"I lost "some" memories, Astarion," She snapped back.
"Wyll hasn't been home in years and lets face it Gale is Gale."
"Meaning?" Gale asked, an eyebrow arched.
"Wizards are absent minded," Astarion replied.
"You cast wizard spells, you know," Gale said. "I helped you learn how to shoot beams of fire at multiple opponents."
"But at heart, I'm a rogue." Astarion replied, his hand flattened against his chest.
"And me?" Tav asked. "I suppose I'm too doe eyed over the wizard to know my way around the city i grew up?"
"No, I think you know the city, you just don't know the darker corners like I do." Astarion admitted.
"That's probably true," Tav answered. "But, we did pretty well today. Where's Lae'zel? I found a sword that's completely unbalanced, she's going to flip."
"You've come to taunt me with the ineptitude of your smith's, an interesting strategy." Lae'zel appeared from behind her tent, her hair damp from training.
"So, Tav, tell me, how many?" Astarion asked, rolling his glass over his fingers.
"What?" Tav asked, a mask of bemusement.
"How many lockpicks did you use without me?"
"Eight," Tav spat out begrudgingly.
"Eight! My gods, a good day for you then was it. Seems being a jack of all trades doesn't necessarily make one skilled at anything, does it? You do sing pretty though."
"Astarion," Karlach said his name like a warning.
"I'm just making an observation," Astarion continued. "I use two lockpicks tops most days that I adventure with you, yet you insist on leaving me here, my gifts languishing."
"You love to lounge in your tent," Tav noted.
"I was only thinking of your scarce inventory. Burn through as many lockpicks as you like, I'm not the groups treasurer." Astarion lifted the bag of jewels and begins sifting through them.
"We'll need you tomorrow certainly," Tav said. "We're going to murderize that damned steal watch then break into the newspaper."
"How fun," Astarion bobbed his head from side to side with amusement. "Maybe I'll find a horrid guard to bite. One whose had too much bree I think."
"Most guards can't afford bree," Wyll commented.
"Look my love, a scroll of knock," Gale held the parchment up for Tav to see. "I could learn it right now and cast it right away."
"That's great," Tav threw an arm around Gale's neck kissing his cheek.
"Yes thats great. I'm sure it'll help that one time a day you can use it. " Astarion's good mood evaporating as his temper is ruffled. "The very idea that a scroll could replace my talents is offensive and you should all be ashamed."
"I can use it as many times as I like." Gale said.
"You really are trying to take all my fun, wizard." Astarion's hand shot out pointing to Shadowheart. "I'm sure you learned some memory spells under your former God."
"Yes a few." Shadowheart answered, confused at what Astarion was getting at.
"Good, Lae'zel, hold the mage down. He won't be remembering much." Astarion's gaze threatening as it landed on Gale.
"Maybe we can also get rid of his detestable earing." Lae'zel stepped forward, her training sword at her side still.
"Well, I wasn't going to tear into his appearances..." Astarion said, taken aback at first.
"He wears the symbol of his former lover," Lae'zel said, he fury boiling. "Mystra, a manipulation queen who would have him end his own life. He parades her token blatantly while wooing Tav with nonsense about stars. I've been to the tears, I've smelt them as they burn across your sky. They are not baubles for your vain seductions."
"I'm right here, folks," Tav pointed out.
"Mystra is magic," Gale stuttered, growing concern in his words. "... and I wield magic. It's not uncommon to wear a charm for the goddess."
"One whom you bedded," Astarion's smirked as he rhetorically pored oil over the fire. Things were going in a different direction, but he could work with it.
"Tav hasn't complained," Gale said, his eyes resting on the bard.
"Of course not, they're the nice one, remember?" Shadowheart said, her arms crossed.
"Tav? Does it bother you?" Gale asked, his voice thin with worry.
"I'm not going to tell you how to dress." Tav said avoiding eye contact. "It's not really about the fact that you bedded her, Gale," Tav said holding up her hands. "It's about the fact that she's terrible and she used you and threw you away."
"You shouldn't waste time honoring gods who would ignore you so easily." Shadowheart chimed in.
"You know what would make this better?" Karlach asked. "Let's go kill mystra."
"Now, hold on," Gale said. "Mystra is magic. You can't kill magic."
"You know I think of the word "can't" as a challenge at times," Tav smiled teasingly.
"My work here is done," Astarion gathered his wine, book, and the bag of jewels. "I need to go rest up for tomorrow. Lots of locks waiting. Maybe a few spells if you decided to leave the extra baggage at home, Tav."
Lae'zel remained beside Tav, her arms crossed as she glared at Gale's earing as Astarion sauntered away to lounge in his tent.

I did not have any of these when starting out. I am so freaking lucky to be able to get these and read them with the benefit of hindsight. I've actually covered most of these in reviews and posts about books I recommend to beginner magic practitioners.
Grovedaughter Witchery: Practical Spellcraft. Author: Bree NicGarran. Publisher: Amazon. Additional notes: Review here. If y'all were here for that, you'll know that this book instantly turned me into a Bree stan. This is truly a secular book on magic and I am forever thankful that there are safety warnings out the wazoo present in these pages.
It's Witchcraft: a beginner's guide to secular & non-secular witchcraft: Second Edition. Author: Jamie Weaver. Publisher: Amazon. Additional notes: Review here. I got this book because I was trying to find more secular beginner resources to recommend. This book failed to impress me or to even be secular, as there's a lot of Wiccan influence (as usual) in it.
Kitchen Table Magic: Pull Up a Chair, Light a Candle, & Let's Talk Magic. Author: Melissa Cynova. Publisher: Llewellyn. Additional notes: I found this author first through her tarot book and enjoyed her tone and how she broke things down, so I got her more broad-scale book. The sections are small and meant to prompt you to get interested in a subject so you can go research them more on your own time. It's a small book that tries to pack a lot of information in.
of witchcraft and whimsy: a beginner's guide to witchcraft. Author: Rose Orriculum. Publisher: Amazon. Additional notes: Review here. This is basically a non-threatening secular book on magic that you would give a pre-teen or early teen who's scared of everything. We also love a book of spells that includes baneful magic in case someone needs to be popped in the face.
Queering Your Craft: witchcraft from the margins. Author: Cassandra Snow. Publisher: Weiser Books. Additional notes: By far the most Wiccan of my books (even though it claims to be "Pagan" with a capital P, which just means Wiccan as we all know), it's also the chunkiest of the beginner books. Frankly, I'd recommend leaving this one for last, or waiting to have your own personal base built up. There are some...UNFORTUNATE parts in here, like when the author says that "shadow work" (a Jungian psychology concept) is necessary, but it's worth more than its issues in my humble opinion.

Outlander: The Happiest Place on Earth (7x02)
Dang, I'm honestly incredibly surprised about some stuff in this episode!
Cons:
As an overall note, this episode just felt incredibly crowded with incident. The fact that the episode in which we learn the end of the Christie storyline, with Allan telling his story and meeting his fateful end, is also the episode in which Brianna and Roger have a baby, discover Mandy's health problem, and leave, and is the episode where we meet adult William for the first time, and is the episode with the fire that's been built up for several seasons... it's just so much to happen all at once! I feel like especially the start of the episode with Allan, coupled with last week's revelations from Tom Christie, all belong to an earlier plot thread that really should have been resolved separately from the Brianna and Roger leaving story, and the Wendigo Donner/fire story.
Mainly, I'm surprised that Roger and Bree are actually going into the future at all, with their kids. That whole plot development in the books is incredibly important, but I thought after they hinted at it and then bailed back last season, they were just going to skip over it entirely. A lot of plot happens in these books, I wouldn't have been surprised if they'd given this whole thing a pass. I am excited to see how it plays out, I guess, but it does make the fact that they decided to go and then changed their minds before, kind of ridiculous.
A couple of small complaints that I keep making... the voiceover still feels clunky in some places, and the actress playing Brianna is an undeniably weak point in terms of performance. There were moments where she did well this episode, but other moments where she felt stilted and out of place.
As a last complaint, part of this is that it's been a while since I've read some of the books, but the whole circumstances around the fire just felt messy and out of the blue? At first we had Wendigo showing up demanding gemstones with his gang of reprobates, but then suddenly Mrs. Bug is involved and shouting about the gold? It was incoherent and strange and made for a shocking episode end, but maybe too shocking, given everything else going on beforehand.
Pros:
I will say though, despite the somewhat muddied ending, I do think Wendigo Donner is a fascinating figure. I loved the sinister nature of his presence in the house, and when Claire told Jamie his name, and Jamie immediately lunged for him, furious, having heard of his involvement with the Browns... that was good stuff.
In all, I did think all the sappy stuff with Bree, Roger, Claire, and Jamie and the kids worked really well. First we get to see Claire and Jamie so excited about their new granddaughter, each telling her what they'll teach her as she grows older - Claire will teach her medicine, Jamie will teach her to ride a horse. And then when it's revealed she has a heart condition, the dawning realization that the one thing they have left to offer her is a way back to the 20th century... it really is heartbreaking. The goodbye moments had everything. Super cheesy declarations of affection and lasting love from everybody. Jamie saying he's proud of Roger Mac. Bree telling her dad about Disneyland and saying that he's magical to her. Jamie and Claire embracing their grandson and telling him goodbye. It was a real tearjerker all around.
And I really loved the aftermath with Jamie and Claire too, that sense of life going on, but the weight of their grief hitting them so seriously. Jamie says a line straight from the book about how he will try and go on for Claire's sake, but for his own, he would not. They have been permanently separated from their family, and it's a real tragedy for them all to grapple with. The scene where Claire goes kind of frantic and jumps Jamie, but then breaks down and cries as they contemplate all the people they've lost... that really got to me.
Despite feeling weird as a pacing thing, I did think that the Allan Christie reveal was well-acted and written, the visceral disgust on Claire's face was very clear. And Ian's decision to kill Allan felt so true to his character and what we know of all he's been through. Ian is a character I love from the books but I feel a little less connected to in his show version, but the scene of him and Claire burying Allan together felt like a really strong moment for him.
I've saved the Lord John and William stuff for last, because of course I have. We only get one brief scene with William so far, so it's a little too soon to tell what to think of him, but I love that Brianna just can't stop smiling like a loon when meeting her older brother for the first (and only, as far as she knows) time. And Lord John being so pleased to see her, but also being baffled by her rather forward suggestion that they tell the Ninth Earl of Ellesmere the truth about his parentage, was really funny.
And then of course pardon me while I go on way too long about that John and Jamie scene because my goodness. I don't know how to explain the difference between the vibes here and in the books, because it's hard to pin it down... in some ways I enjoy John a lot more as a character from the books, just because we don't get to spend enough time with him on the show to fully appreciate his nuance, but on the other hand, what we do see of him on the show, I do enjoy a lot. In the books, the vibe between these two men is very complicated. Jamie feels a deep gratitude and affection for John because he has raised William, and he is also aware of John's feelings for him, and so does his best to be respectful and kind while also not being false to his own feelings on the matter. In the show, I swear to god, the vibe is like... they're wistful exes who still love each other but know their love can never be. It's so insane to me that in this scene they're calling each other by first names, and gently regretting that the war must put them at odds, and John placing the gem into Jamie's hands and curling his fingers over his palm... that's romance, okay?
It's so funny because I don't even ship them, I just think it's fascinating that the show has decided to lean in really hard on the idea of there being this fraught, extra tension to this relationship, that these two men love each other in a way that is in some ways indefinable. They essentially share the love of a parent for their child, in William, which positions them as having a partnership all their own. It's such a fascinating dynamic and I can't think of another fictional relationship that I feel this way about. I don't want Jamie to have romantic/sexual feelings for John, but I want him to have... "you are my co-parent and you're such a good dad to our child" thoughts about him, which he canonically does, kind of? Like, John making that joke about "we should be discussing suitable wives for William, not suitable regiments." You should, John? Why on earth would Jamie Fraser actually be involved in those discussions? It's so funny.
And such a tragic, beautiful moment. It happens via letter in the books, Jamie telling John that they must sever all ties. So I was very pleased to see it happen in person here. The lingering shots on both men's faces after they've parted, thinking it likely to be for the very last time... man, in whatever form it takes, Jamie Fraser and Lord John Grey love each other very deeply, and I'm very into it.
That's where I'll stop for now. I was pretty legitimately surprised at Bree and Roger taking off into the future, and I can't wait to see how that plays out in the coming weeks!
8/10

TPOT finale cyoe: Ending B: it ends with a promise

Ending B: it ends with a promise
Sighing, I scooch closer to Bree’s door until there’s enough room for her to pass, and I realize only once the woman’s halfway down the stairs that Bree didn’t move, and our bodies are pressed against one another’s.
“Sorry,” we say at the same time, and both of us practically topple over in our haste to shift away.
And then we’re laughing, giggling like school children, because… What? What are we so embarrassed about? We fell asleep on a cold floor clinging to one another’s hands. I was half-naked and half-dead for most of the time we spent together inside the prison. I’ve seen her back, bare and scarred like painted porcelain, seen her clothes nearly ripped to shreds.
Today, suddenly, we’re both modest.
Well, I don’t know if that’s what she’s laughing about, but that’s what’s going through my head.
“Don’t run away again,” I say. “Please.”
“Okay.” Slowly, she nods, her eyes solemn. But earnest. “I won’t.”
“You promise?”
“Mmm hmm.”
“You really, truly, fucking promise me you’re not going to sneak off in the night and leave another goddamn cryptic note that I can dwell on for the rest of my life?”
She bursts into a new laugh. “Will Wardrew,” she says, taking my hands in hers now, “I swear on my life I won’t run away again.”
“Good—”
“Without telling you.”
“Fuck it, Bree, don’t—”
“Unless I have a really good reason to.”
“No!” I squeeze her fingers tight. “Not even then. Tell me if you’re going to leave.”
She fixes me with a disbelieving stare. “And what would you do about it if I did?”
I pause. Think. “Talk you out of it. At the very least…get you to say goodbye. Properly.”
For a moment, silence.
Then she makes a face, saying, “You’re full of shit, you know,” and I grin.
When she tries to pull back her hand again, though, I’m not quite ready to let go. “For real this time. Promise.”
I don’t know why I am so desperate for these words, why I wait with bated breath.
“All right.” There’s no hint of teasing in her voice now. “I promise.”
Downstairs my family is waiting for me, surely still ready to beat me up for being a reckless idiot.
Oh, well. It wouldn’t be the first time someone tried to knock some sense into me. Hasn’t worked so far.
“Come down and see everyone,” I say, not ready to let her go just yet. But her face pales, and she shakes her head.
“Why not? Jamie saw you. It’s not like it’s a secret. Also, he can’t beat the shit out of me for climbing up here while you’re sitting there. And,” I add, unable to keep the grin off my face, “you can pay Allan back what you stole from him.”
Her cheeks flush again, and she’s obviously hiding a smile, but she still shakes her head. After a moment, she grows more solemn. “The last thing I said to your brother…” Her voice trails off.
“What?”
“Well, it wasn’t very nice.”
I think back, trying to remember if Jamie ever mentioned a last conversation with Bree. “Who cares? He probably deserved it.”
Bree bites her lip, holding back another laugh, and I wish she wouldn’t. There was enough of that in the darkness together. I don’t want her—I don’t want either of us—to ever have to hold back any pinch of happiness ever again.
“Come on.” I grip her hands tightly and stand, pulling her up with me. “I'm sure you’ve got some stories to tell. And us, too. Oh, and Colette will probably be happy to see you. I think she gets a little tired of being the only girl sometimes.”
Am I rambling?
That seems to put her more at ease, but her smile stays uncertain. “All right. Fine. If you insist.” She takes a deep breath. “It’s… It’s safe, right? All of us? Here? Together?” Her hand worries at the fabric of her sleeve, right over the spot where I know her IA tattoo is hidden.
I know what she really means: You don’t think Hatchett could possibly know you’re here, right?
“Yeah. Don’t worry.” None of us have dared to go near any constables since we left the city—and we all plan to keep it that way. I reach for her arm, run my fingers over the invisible ink beneath her clothes. “You’re safe. I promise.” Deciding the mood’s gotten too gloomy, I add, “Anyway, if there’s trouble, you’ve got that cute little knife. You’ll protect me, right?”
“You think you’re so funny. I almost got you with that cute little knife.” But she’s laughing. Smiling.
Living.
Against all odds, we both are.
All I ever wanted, I realize as we head for the table where Jamie, Geoff, Colette, and Allan are waiting—Jamie with his brow furrowed and his arms crossed but the barest hint of something that isn’t disapproval on his face, Colette and Geoff pretending not to grin and gossip in one another’s ears, and Allan looking so concerned and confused and awed, I almost choke.
All I ever wanted—friends and family.
Safe and sound and alive.
Together.

Andy, Junior, and Percy Jackson (Chucky season 2 rewrite fic, drabble 3/4)

PLEASE leave notes and comment what you think because comments help fuel our motivation since @streets-in-paradise and I worked on this AU together and one day, the fic will finally be written!
Thank you and enjoy! :)
Word count: 1.8K
Junior had been quiet that day.
This wasn’t the first time that Andy has seen Junior be this quiet, not making any sarcastic remarks, jokes, or smiling just a little but it never met his eyes. It happened plenty of times already, but it didn’t make Andy any less worried whenever it did occur.
The reasons for Junior shutting down were always different. Sometimes after a bad nightmare, he’d be quiet the next day, or it would be after opening up a little too much for the kid’s liking about his father. He’d go almost completely silent.
But Andy knew that neither of those triggered this new episode. The night before, Junior had been talking about his mother. Bree Wheeler was still a touchy subject, even more so than her husband, but Junior talked about her this time.
“I already enjoyed reading Greek mythology,” Junior had told Andy that night, “I was so fascinated with the stories of the Greek gods. Then my mom heard about these books and got me the first set. I was already hooked just after the first page.”
The books Junior was referring to were all five books of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, tapping his fingers on the box the books were contained in.
Okay, yes, Junior may have mentioned once that those were one of his favorite book series. Andy knew he could’ve just gotten one, but he splurged and bought them all. He figured the kid would want something to keep him entertained when he went on his weekly supply run, rather than to resort to cutting off pieces of Chucky’s plastic skin whenever he got bored.
“She always knew me like the back of her hand. Sometimes even better than I knew myself.” Junior was speaking kindly of his mother but his eyes and smile were melancholic.
Andy knew how much the kid loved talking about Bree, but it wasn’t a secret that he was still taking her loss hard. How could the kid move on, even after knowing that Chucky was responsible for her sudden death and it wasn’t by her own hands?
Junior was grieving and unable to move forward. He couldn’t blame him, he’d be the exact same way if he saw his mother die the way the kid did. Junior lost the last person in his life that truly loved him. And in a way, so did Andy. Even though the adult’s mother was still alive, he had to stay away. He couldn’t bear it if he lost her too just like how he lost Kyle.
So it wasn’t a complete surprise when Junior went quiet the next day, running almost on autopilot. There wasn’t a lot Andy could do to bring him out of that state, just be by his side and make sure he ate.
The eating part was never the easiest when the kid was like this, he never had an appetite and spent most of breakfast pushing the food around with his fork before actually having a few bites. But Andy still made sure Junior had some food in his system and let him know that he was there for him.
Junior would always say he was fine or hum affirmatively whenever the adult asked if he was okay. That was never true and Andy would have to pretend that he didn’t notice how Junior would come back after collecting wood for the fire with red tinged eyes as if he had been crying.
Andy knew that he couldn’t push him to open up. Too much pressure and the kid would snap at him, making all the work he had done to get Junior to trust him come crumbling down. He had to be patient and take things slow, just let him know that he would always be there if the kid needed to talk and let him come to Andy.
By nighttime, Junior seemed to relax slightly. He was still quiet but began talking a little more with Andy when the older man spoke rather than just nod his head in agreement. Baby steps, but it was certainly something and he would gladly take it.
Even though the kid seemed to be doing a little bit better, Andy still felt the need to check up on him. And that’s what he did, peering into Junior’s room since the door was still open. He was already lying down on his cot, a few blankets over him, and staring up at the ceiling. The sight was a little concerning and the adult only relaxed when Junior finally blinked, assuring that he wasn’t dead.
After a moment, Andy lightly knocked on the door. “Can I come in?” He asked, waiting for the kid to nod before walking inside the bedroom. Andy sat down on the edge of the cot, looking over at the kid who still had his eyes trained on the ceiling. “How are you doing, kid?”
Junior didn’t say anything for a few seconds before he shrugged his shoulders up and down. “I…I’m alive. That’s all.”
It wasn’t much of a response, yet that was something Andy was willing to work with. “Good. I’m glad you’re alive.” He told him genuinely and caught a glimpse of the corners of Junior’s lips turning upward just slightly.
“Yeah, I guess so.” The kid muttered and Andy took that as another win. Sometimes Junior would say something about how he wished he wasn’t alive and then chalk it up as a joke. But the adult always knew he wasn’t joking, and it would break his heart.
However, this time he agreed with Andy’s words, which was a step in the right direction.
The adult paused for a moment, thinking of the right things to say. “You know, if you ever wanna talk…I’m right here. I can only listen if you want. I just want you to know that you’re not alone.”
Junior nodded, finally turning his head enough to look at Andy. “I know…I just…don’t really feel like talking right now,” he said quietly, “but…maybe tomorrow? If-if I feel better.”
Andy sent him a reassuring smile while nodding. “Yeah, of course. It doesn’t even have to be tomorrow, it can be whenever you feel like. Okay?”
The kid’s lips tilted upward again, another sign of improvement. “Mhm, okay…thanks.”
“No problem, kiddo.” He told him before he happened to look over at the Percy Jackson box set that was beside the cot, leaning over to gently nudge it with the tip of his boot. “You haven’t read these yet?”
“Not yet. I haven’t felt like reading, but I’ll get to it.” Junior said before pausing, looking like an idea came to him before he spoke again. “Can you…can you read it to me?”
Andy paused briefly. “I don’t know about that, Junior…”
“Please Andy?” He asked again, now pouting.
“I don’t think I’d make a very good narrator—”
“I don’t care, just…please?”
The longer the adult looked at him, the more his resolve started to fall down. God, it was getting a lot harder and harder to say no to Junior.
Finally, he sighed quietly. “Okay, what book do you want me to read?”
The kid’s eyes twinkled in delight when Andy gave in. “The first one, ‘The Lightning Thief’. I want to feel like I’m seven years old again.”
He smiled slightly and nodded, leaning over to pick up the first book from the box set. Once it was in his hands, Junior scooted further to the edge of the cot to give more room for Andy, allowing him to sit down comfortably with his back resting against the wall.
While Andy wasn’t very comfortable in his narrating abilities, he just couldn’t refuse the kid, especially when he was starting to open up a little more. “Okay, kid…” he opened up the book and flipped past a couple pages until he landed on the first chapter, “‘Chapter 1: I Accidentally Vaporize My Pre-Algebra Teacher’? Holy shit, that’s how this book is gonna start?”
“Just read it!” When Andy looked down at him, Junior was smiling. This was a real smile, his first one of the entire day. It made something in his chest feel warm.
Well, now he just had to read it to him.
The adult chuckled under his breath before beginning. “‘Look, I didn’t want to be a half-blood.’”
And with that, Andy started reading the book. He understood what Junior meant about getting hooked after the first page because he was hooked as well. He continued reading and checking up on the kid every now and then, spotting Junior looking relaxed and smiling, giggling at any of the funny parts.
Halfway through the second chapter, Andy peered over and noticed that the teenager had fallen asleep. He couldn’t help but to smile at the sight, noting how peaceful the kid looked as he slept. Good. He needed some peace in his life.
Well, Andy had to make sure to be quiet as he left, he didn’t want Junior to wake up. The kid needed to get as much sleep as possible, he was still a growing boy. Maybe he’ll make some pancakes with coffee tomorrow, he knows how much Junior likes his homemade pancakes, especially when he mixed in some blueberries—
Oh…oh shit.
At that moment, a thought suddenly occurred to him. As he looked at the teenager sleeping, he finally understood what the warmth that was growing inside of his chest meant.
He saw Junior as the son he never had.
Now, Andy always cared for the boy since the moment he basically dropped on his doorstep. And the more Junior opened up, the more he began to care for him. Junior told him about his past with his father, how Chucky manipulated him, and Andy always felt this wave of protectiveness washing over him. He had to protect him.
Was this how his mother felt? Seeing her newborn son for the first time, holding him in her arms and willing to do anything to keep him safe?
Junior wasn’t his child, not by blood, but Kyle wasn’t his sister by blood either. If he could see Kyle as his sister, then he could see Junior as his son.
Andy would do everything he could to keep the kid out of harm's way. To make sure that nothing and no one will ever hurt him again. He’d give his life just to make sure Junior lived because he couldn’t bear it if he lost someone else.
And would he burn down the world just to make sure the teenager that was a pain in his ass half the time was warm? Then he’d do it in a heartbeat.
But for now, the adult closed the book, noting what page they were on, and placed it on the floor beside the cot. He carefully pulled the blankets up to Junior’s shoulders, watching him shift slightly but remained sleeping with the same peaceful expression. Andy smiled fondly, hoping that tomorrow would bring a better day for his kid.
“Goodnight, Junior.”

Not Many Chances
Summary: Kyle really doesn't know what to expect from Kenny after he arrives in the middle of a snow storm, although, Kenny being armed with high quality chocolates from god knows where was not on his list of possibilities
Warnings: Swearing, nausea, check Ao3 port for full tags
Authors Note: It has been under a month since I started watching South Park, yet here I am, writing K2 already cause they're my favs. @bree-sae you're the south park mutual, by rights I simply must subject you to it. Anyways! If ya'll enjoyed maybe consider dropping a reblog or checking out the Ao3 port and leaving a comment.
Tumblr media
An obnoxiously loud knock alerted Kyle from where he sat in the living room. He reluctantly pulled himself off of the couch and made his way to the door. He tugged on his hat after a brief glance outside to find the snow was still in the torrential phase of the storm. He tugged the zipper of his jacket up before tugging open the door, shock washed over him at the sight.
Kenny, outside, in a snow storm, with his hood down. He's visibly shivering and just about every inch of his face is red with the chills biting at him. He gives a weak, "Hi," before Kyle ushers him in and slams the door shut. A small amount of snow had coated the doormat in what must've been record time.
"Dude what the fuck were you doing out there?!" Kyle exclaimed. The worry he exhibited didn't seep into his voice as much as his expression and the way he held himself.
Kenny shrugged. He kicked off his boots, "Delivery," He pulled off his backpack and tossed it over to the couch. It landed a couple inches short.
"Why did you have your hood down?" Kyle asked, trying to force his tone even as he brought hands to rest at Kennys face. His skin was cold, impossibly so (he was glad his face was already red), "You could get frostbite man."
"I know," Kenny said, "Don't care," He pulled off his parka and hung it up at the door.
Kyle took a deep breath, "I care, and you should to- Kenny I don't know what makes you think you're invincible but I'd hate to see you die."
Kenny has to refrain from scoffing at the notions of dying. He's done it hundreds, if not thousands of times. What's one more death on the pile?
"I'll go make some tea," Kyle said, turning to head to the kitchen.
"I'm fine," Kenny said.
"You're fucking freezing, you have enough snow in your hair to build a sled hill," Kyle said, to accentuate his point he plucked a clump of snow from Kennys hair. Then he grabbed another, and another, damp hair tangled just a bit, "I'm making tea."
"You don't have too," Kenny said, raising Kyles hand from his hair. He holds on for a little bit too long, as though he was memorizing each curve with gloved hands. He didn't move his hand against Kyles until he was letting go, "You'd just be wasting it."
"Idiot," was all Kyle could produce in protest to Kennys statement, "I'm making you tea and you're having some whether you like it or not."
"Can't make me drink it," Kenny countered with, smirking a cat like smirk.
"Watch me," Kyle snarled out, pressing a finger to Kennys chest as he spoke.
The McCormicks heart rate doubled in a second, and only for a moment. But he certainly felt tingly all over at the tone and the motion accompanying it. He swallowed thickly as he tried to find the words trapped in his throat. Nothing came out and he wished so desperately he had his parka on to fully shield his sense of self.
Kyle took a step back, "What type do you want?"
Kenny shrugged, "Sleepy Time...?" It sounded more like a question than an answer.
"I'll see if we have any," Kyle said, as calmly as he could manage before taking a turn to the kitchen leaving Kenny stunned in the front hall.
He shook the snow from his hair to the best of his ability, trying to get as much of it on the mat as he could. Jeez his hair was wet, and cold, so were his fingers. He gives a bemused hum as he makes his way to the couch, dropping down and crossing one leg over the other as he waits impatiently. He reaches over the edge and grabs at his backpack, reaching in and yanking out a small box.
He spent so long scrounging for cash to buy some of the actually good stuff, not the cheap No Name stuff. He barely got a chance to even have the cheap stuff with the cash his family managed to come by going towards real food. But on the random chance he found a twenty dollar bill lying around he always bought something frivolous with it. The last time he actually spent the coins and cash he found around South Park was months ago, he only decided to save up and buy the good stuff after getting an impossibly small taste of high quality anything. He doesn't even remember what it was, all that he remembers is the absolute richness of the flavor rolling around his mouth.
His nails threaten to tear open the tape on the small box of chocolates, only twelve. He's never had the brand personally, but every cashier said it was the best, although he did get some weird looks for asking if its kosher. He had to ask well over three people to find out the answer, it was yes- if it wasn't he had no clue what else to do. He pressed in on the tape just a little bit more, Kyle wouldn't notice one missing chocolate, would he?
"We're out of sleepy time tea!"
Kyles exclamation snaps Kenny from his thoughts in instant and he's beyond glad that it did. He almost messed up his gift, almost indulged, he doesn't deserve that shit. He's too poor to have such a treat, Kyle on the other hand? He isn't, he's probably had the brand a hundred times over and this stupid little gift is nothing. He isn't even out, it'd just be seen as a friendly gesture if it was seen as anything at all. This dogshit ass tier attempt at courting Kyle of all people, this garbage idea of getting chocolates with money he hadn't even earned himself.
"I think we have some raspberry stuff!"
This time his voice barely dragged Kenny out of his stupor, he did catch the footsteps and stuff the box behind his back. Kyle leaned on the backrest of the couch, one arm crossed over the other. He rested his head on his arms and gave a warm smile that made Kenny feel all oozy and gooey inside.
"So," Kyle begins, voice somewhat a purr. He rolled the letters even though they aren't rollable letters, "What's the delivery that you mentioned?"
"It doesn't matter," Kenny managed to get out defensively.
Kyle vaulted himself over the back of the couch, he placed a hand on either side of Kennys hips. He simply reveled in the slightest twitch of Kennys expression, "Really? Cause if it doesn't matter then I doubt you'd make it a point to trek through a snow storm."
Kenny gave a drawn out groan of annoyance before holding out the small box of Lindor chocolates. Kyle took them from his hands, "I got you some chocolate."
"Dude, this shit is like, expensive," Kyle said as he rotated the box in his hand, even shaking it to make sure it actually had chocolates. He didn't even want to open it, he knew they were safe to eat, but he still held hesitance. He inched back and sat up, knees bent underneath him.
"I know," Kenny said, pushing himself a little bit more upright, "I've been saving up for a bit."
"You're sure that I can have them?" Kyle asked, he was still reeling over the fact that Kenny managed enough cash to buy brand name chocolate. Let alone this brand, expensive, tasty, there wasn't even a fifty percent off sticker on it.
And he's offering it to Kyle.
"I bought them for you," Kenny answered with, "Like, if the cashiers were lying about them being kosher we can trash them or whatever, I totally get that."
"No they got deemed kosher a while back," Kyle said, tugging his thumb nail along the tape and tearing it open, "I'm just shocked you'd get them for me."
Kenny paused, carefully stepping over his next words. Kyle was already out, everyone already knew he was queer (even Cartman). But Kenny? Kenny was still in the comfort of a metaphorical closet, "I don't usually have enough to give gifts, I had some extra cash, thought I might do something nice."
Kyle gives a hum as he pops open the box and unwraps a chocolate, "Thanks man."
"Your welcome," Kenny answered with reflexively.
He stared when Kyle ate the chocolate, it looked so fucking good, like, he'd never been so entranced over such a small morsel. But this one little chocolate had him under the worlds stupidest spell, or maybe it was Kyle. One of the two, the fluid motions as he unwrapped a second chocolate and popped it into his mouth- Kenny could practically smell the sweetness. Was his mouth watering? Maybe just a bit, who could blame him with how much the packaging amped up the quality. And how pleased Kyle looked indulging in just a few chocolates, he looked absolutely fucking euphoric.
Then he glanced over to Kenny who quickly stared to the floor instead.
"Were you staring?" Kyle asked gently, a teasing lilt to his tone.
Kenny didn't respond for a moment, "A bit, looks tasty."
"Have you ever had chocolate?" Kyle asked.
Kenny scoffed, "Obviously, who hasn't? I've just never had much name brand stuff."
"Do you want one?" Kyle offered.
Kenny nodded, then shook his head, "I shouldn't, they're yours, I'm like, I'm too poor for shit that good."
Kyle pushed the box over to Kenny who pushed it back, "Dude, if you want one have one," He edged a little bit closer to Kenny.
"I don't deserve it man, don't even wanna touch it," Kenny said as he backed further into the armrest, it jutted into the small of his back.
Kyle fell back and Kenny couldn't help but study his expression as the red head carefully thought over his plan of actions. He was supposed to stay silent when Kyle was thinking. He'd break his focus. He'd ruin his mood. He did not care.
"I just, it's your chocolate man- expensive chocolate. Too expensive for someone like me-" Kenny further explained.
"Kenny, shut up," Kyle snapped, not even glancing to face Kenny, and Kenny did exactly as told.
He watched with rapt attention as Kyle grabbed another chocolate and unwrapped it, tugging each end taut and scrapping the plastic cover. He didn't eat it, instead he turned to face Kenny once more, chocolate held between two fingers.
"Open wide," Kyle instructed, the bluntness of his words shocked Kenny more than anything.
"What?" Was all he could manage.
"Open. Wide. Trust me," Kyle said, the chocolate was starting to melt in his grip.
Kenny opened his mouth just a bit, "I will bite."
"Good," Came Kyles answer, spilling so fluidly it was as though he wasn't even thinking.
Kenny froze up entirely, even more so when a finger slipped past his lips and propped open his jaw just a bit more. He didn't dare move, even when one of the expensive and high quality chocolates he bought for Kyle was placed on his tongue. All he could do was focus on the soft flavor, Kyle leaned back and as much as Kenny had intended for those chocolates to be for Kyle he wouldn't dare spit it out. He'd been taught not to waste food, especially not fancy and pricey food, instead he closed his mouth and chewed.
He's pretty sure this is what sex feels like.
The flavor bursts across his tongue and oh god it's amazing, pure euphoria shoots through every nerve of his body as he chews. That delectable cocoa flavor coating every centimeter of his mouth and yeah, yeah it hurt a bit when it hit a cavity. But it was worth it, it was so worth it. He could sit and eat these all day long, he's shaking in his spot a little bit because he's never tried it before and he gets it. He gets why people pay big money for small amounts of good food instead of bulk, he didn't really understand it until right now.
Is he tearing up? Fuck he does not care if he's tearing up and that he's flapping his hands a little bit. He swallows thickly and the sweetness lingers on his tongue as he runs it along his teeth and the inside of his cheek. He finally opens his eyes and sees that Kyle is simply staring at him with a saccharine and sly smirk, it suits him. Kenny is too caught in the euphoria of the velvety flavor coating the insides of his mouth to think straight.
His tongue flicks out to lap at his lips for the desperate attempt at getting more of that chocolatey flavor. The words that come out do not look good with his action, "You look really fucking good Kyle, when you grin like that."
Kyles expression flat-lines in a second, red shooting to his face as he goes through the words he just heard.
Kenny doesn't even realize what he's said until it's to late to take it back. His eyes widen just a bit as his words sink in, "I didn't mean to say that."
"I, you, can you repeat that?" Kyle asked, trying to voice his words loud enough for Kenny to hear no matter how much he wanted to whisper.
"You look, you look hot when you grin," Kenny said despite the words coming up in a tangle of thorny roses being torn from his psyche. He fucked up, he fucked up big time, he just outed himself to Kyle completely by accident. And he did so by saying he looks hot- Kenny really wishes he could actually die of embarrassment right now, it would be far from the stupidest of deaths.
"Dude," Kyle began with, "That's sorta gay."
"You're one to talk, you're out of the closet and you kissed Cartman under the mistletoe," Kenny spat back with defensively.
"It was one time," Kyle said as he rolled his eyes, "I wish I hadn't."
"I wish I hadn't seen it happen," Kenny answered with.
"But even before I was out you never said I looked good, is this a new discovery? Or something else?" Kyle teased as he picked up another chocolate, the accusation had Kenny absolutely paralyzed.
Oh god. He was fucked. He had two, no, three choices. Number one: run. Number two: come clean. Number three: run. He could just push open the doors of the closet fully, or try and play it off as bro stuff.
"I mean, I just thought you'd already know," Kenny said, forcing down the small crack in his voice, "You're always good looking, and Stan too, Craig and Tweek as well- but that's just, what bros say."
Kyle quirked a brow, "Oh really?"
"Really," Kenny said, speaking far too fast for it to be true.
His eyes latched onto the chocolate in Kyles hand, shiny red wrapper still in tact and plastic crinkling as Kyle undid it. Slowly, his motions tantalizing as he unwrapped the small morsel of rich and delectable chocolate. He dropped the wrapper with little care to his motions, that sly grin on his face that had Kenny so helplessly paralyzed.
"Want another chocolate?" Kyle asked.
Kenny nodded, "I've already had my share though."
"We could share one," Kyle offered.
"Too small to split it," Kenny said, he was lying, he just didn't want to eat more then welcome.
"I know a couple good ways we could split it, if you trust me to just do it," Kyle said, switching the hand he held the chocolate in, "You trust me with yourself don't you?"
A raw sense of intimacy laces the string of words but Kenny completely ignores it as he nods, "Totally man."
"Cool," Kyle said before promptly taking a bite of the chocolate, then another. He just let it melt in his mouth as Kenny stared in shock.
"I thought I was getting some of that," Kenny said as Kyle edged closer.
"You are," Kyle answered with and Kenny could smell the sweetness of the chocolate on his breath, it was intoxicating.
Kenny gave a small sound as Kyle placed a hand on either side of him, pressing his knees at Kennys hips. He's short circuiting and he can't produce a single word, none of them are coming to mind at that. All he's doing is staring up helplessly at Kyle like a deer in headlights.
"Do you trust me?" Kyle asked once more, voice soft and smooth, a rich honey sweetness on his tone.
And Kenny couldn't help but nod, he'd do anything if Kyle spoke to him like that. So sweetly, so perfectly, he smelt like chocolate, where his arms brushed against Kenny it was molten lava. He pressed his knees a little bit harder against Kennys hips and it felt like electricity, sparks running through him. Kennys pretty sure nothing could top this, right here. The almost glazed over look in Kyles eyes, the pressure at hips- his heart is beating so fast he wouldn't be shocked if it burst from his chest.
And then Kyle kissed him, he barely took note of how fast the gap closed. He can't even react, he isn't even sure how he's supposed to react at that. All he does is freeze, he doesn't move until that rich chocolatey flavor graces the tip of his tongue. Somehow a timidness lingers on his motions, every little thing he's cautious about even though he could just end up dying and Kyle would forget the entire encounter.
He doesn't want that though, for once in his cursed life he wants to make it through the day. He brings his hands to rest at the small of Kyles back, sliding his fingers briefly under the hem of his shirt. He can't keep his open and he's pretty sure it's because he's scared that if he does it's gonna be someone else. He doesn't want it to be someone else, he really doesn't, especially with that delectable cocoa coating every square inch of his mouth every time Kyle pushes a bit further into the moment. He whimpers when Kyle pulls back, and it's only for a second that he let's his eyes flutter open and he swears the sight alone is enough to kill him. But it doesn't, his heart keeps beating with that liquid mercury heat washing over every nerve in his body at the sight of Kyles saccharine smirk.
"So," Kyle begins softly, "Hows the chocolate?"
Kenny still can't speak even though his mouth is hanging open in slight shock.
Kyles gives a light laugh, a perfect, angelic laugh, "C'mon man, where's your words?"
"I," Kenny barely manages to croak out, "Chocolate was fucking good."
"Want some more?" Kyle taunted, already reaching for another chocolate. His smirk betrayed how serious he was about sharing another one.
Kenny shook his head, "I'll pass."
"Okay," Kyle said, dropping the chocolate and pushing off Kennys hands before sitting up and falling back on the couch. He reached for the TV remote, "Wanna watch some TV?"
"I'm good, I gotta go feed Cartmans cat," Kenny managed to get out stiffly, the euphoria finally wearing down leaving him in terror. He fucked up, he completely and utterly fucked up, word gets out and he is ruined. Forever. He'll be absolutely ruined forever.
"You good man?" Kyle asked gently, giving Kenny the most empathetic look he could manage. He was still riding the high of kissing his best friend and maybe long time crush.
Kenny nodded as he stood up, his knees felt weak, "Yeah, perfectly fine," His stomach was turning impossibly fast and he can already feel that twisting sensation at the pit, "Would you rather I hurl in your toilet or on the lawn?"
Kyle was on his feet in a second and helping the McCormick over to the stairs and up them. He looked sea sick, like he's on a boat for the first time in his life and really disagreeing with the way they work. He's clutching his stomach as he makes his way to drop down on the floor, back pressed against the side of the bathtub. He tilts his head back to stare up at the fluorescent light, knees hitched and brought to his chest.
Kyle sits down beside him, staring at the floor in shame, how could he dare be so bold? What an idiot! Thinking that Kenny could possibly be into him, he's ramrod straight and Kyle decided that going for a kiss would be worth it. Using really good chocolate as bait at that, while ingenious, maybe a little bit cruel to use against Kenny. He hesitantly places a hand on his friends back and rubs circles on it.
"Sorry," Kyle got out quietly, "I should not have done that."
"It's fine," Kenny managed to get out, "Really, it's fine."
"Dude, I fucking baited you with chocolate to try and get a kiss," Kyle said, sounding exasperated but only with himself, "That is not fine."
"My fault that I went for it," Kenny said, he gave a full body shudder as another wave of nausea hit him.
"You're not even queer man," Kyle said, he gave a heavy sigh, "And now you're here, on the verge of throwing up because I kissed you."
Kenny pursed his lips before speaking, "I am queer, I just, didn't want anyone to know yet," He barely speaks loud enough for Kenny to hear.
Kyle paused, "Oh, yeah I guess you would've pushed me off if you weren't."
"Yeah man," Kenny said, giving a weak laugh as he spoke, "We aren't, we aren't going to tell anyone about that, right?" Fear laced his voice and the notions alone made him feel even worse.
"Of course not," Kyle said and Kenny visibly relaxed, every muscle of his body dropping tensions just a bit.
"Thanks," Kenny got out quietly, he tapped his feet against the floor, "Could you do it again?"
"Do what man?" Kyle asked.
"Kiss, could we like, do it again?" Kenny asked, nervousness seeped into his voice and he hated it. He could talk about sex in the most graphic detail known to mankind without stuttering even once or getting flustered in the slightest. But asking for a kiss? That's what kills his charisma.
Kyle gives a hum, "Maybe after you figure out if you're gonna vomit, unlike some people I find regurgitated chocolate to be nasty."
Kenny gives a laugh, "Fucking nasty."
"Super nasty," Kyle countered with, grin on his face.
"The nastiest of them all," Kenny answered without fail.

y'all ever think about your D&D characters and how much you want good things for them and also how much you are personally responsible for good things not happening to them

What do you think the Cullens would do if some person they were talking to, out of nowhere just quite literally exploded in front of, and on them? Kinda like in that movie Spontaneous. Would they lose control and slurp up the mess on the ground, (and themselves) or would their bloodlust be curtailed by shock of wtf just happened?
I'd say something witty about how this is a strange anon to receive, but holy jesus you've sent me down a rabbithole.
Here's a trailer to the movie Spontaneous. It looks amazing. Kevin Feige wishes this had been his plot for Infinity War.
Here's a trailer for the movie Spontaneous Combustion, which I found by accident while searching for your fic. This looks amazing too. Can't believe Marvel didn't buy the rights to this guy.
I'm serious, people, you definitely want to watch these trailers. I just about died laughing.
So, on to your ask.
In the spirit of your ask, which implies a level of randomness, I thought the people blowing up should be random too. So, being in the mood to procrastinate through spending way too much time on tumblr things, I wrote a program that'll generate for me random Twilight characters.
Unsure whether the explosion should kill vampires or not, I generated an answer. The answer is yes, any generated vampire dies.
Without further ado:
Alice watches Vladimir blow up.
Alright, alright.
The first question to be answered here is why Alice is in Vladimir's presence in the first time. In canon they only meet once, at the end of Breaking Dawn.
For the sake of simplicity, we'll have Vladimir blow up then.
The Cullens and the witnesses are all celebrating being alive, when Vladimir suddenly explodes.
For the sake of the ask, Alice is sitting closest to him when this happens and making conversation.
Her first thought is utter shock. Not just that he blew up, but that she didn't see it coming (she wouldn't, because I randomly generated him. No decision was made). Her second thought is horror.
The Cullens just confronted the Volturi, now mere hours afterwards their allies are blowing up.
Holy fuck, Aro has a gifted ace up his sleeve, and he's using it to kill them remotely.
Panic ensues, not just for Alice, but among all the witnesses. Some of them refuse to leave, Bella has to shield those 24/7, though given the belief that her gift is psychic that doesn't make them feel very safe.
The others decide to go after the Volturi and beg for mercy, assuring them they never meant to challenge them.
Aro, of course, is very confused, but agrees. Why, yes, he does have a vampire who blows people up. Yes, yes he does.
Bella watches Aro blow up.
Oh I'm dying laughing at this one. And wishing I'd put this down for Carlisle, that would be even funnier, but alright.
Bella is walking about post-Breaking Dawn, minding her own business, when suddenly Aro appears in front of her. He looks around himself, utterly surprised by his sudden deplacement, and then blows up.
Bella has been living in terror of this man for years.
In Volterra he had his servant torture her and Edward and then made ominious threats, then a few months later the Eclipse disaster unfolded, finally we have Breaking Dawn where he showed up to murder her and everyone she loved.
Her shield may be powerful, but for as long as Aro was alive her family was never truly safe.
His untimely implosion changes all of that.
I imagine after a long moment of incredulity, Bella burns the rubble, just to be sure, then tells her family the joyous news.
Carlisle gives the guy a funeral. It's weird.
Carlisle watches Vassilii blow up.
Close call, due to my not switching out the names we almost had Angela. In which case Carlisle have stood there, covered in blood and in shock for several long seconds, before bringing out the bleach and gasoline for a crime scene clean.
As it is, Carlisle is minding his own business when suddenly an immortal child dressed like a medieval Eastern European appears before him. It says something in a foreign language that might mean "hi", he doesn't know but he says "hi" to it back, then the child blows up.
Carlisle stares at the rubble for a very long time, wondering if he is perhaps losing his mind. If, perhaps, Aro was right about animal blood being a slow suicide, and Carlisle has finally hit the limit for how long a vampire can go on without human blood.
He burns the rubble and prays for the child's soul, as an immortal child is doomed anyway, and keeps his silence about what happened. In part because there's a solid chance this was all in his imagination.
If Aro ever touches his hand again, and sees the immortal child that he burned a thousand years earlier resurrect, travel through time, all in order to blow up in front of Carlisle, he... well there comes a point where you say "nothing to see here" and refuse eye contact with the universe glitching.
Edward watches Randall blow up.
Randall, for the ignorants, is one of Carlisle's friends that came to witness for the Cullens in Breaking Dawn.
Suddenly he appears in front of Edward, says hi and how do you do, and then he blows up.
Edward tells Carlisle, who is saddened by this, and they try to piece the guy together. They fail.
Edward sends a somber thought to this noble man who agreed with Edward that the Cullens are awesome enough to be worth dying for.
Emmett watches Mary blow up.
Emmett will never admit it, but it's the coolest, raddest thing he's ever seen.
Esme watches Eleazar blow up.
Oh boy.
The Cullens are visiting the Denali. Irina has not been dead for long, but given the crystal clear memory of vampires, and the loss they already suffered (Sasha's death traumatized them) it doesn't really matter how long it's been, the Denali are devastated anyway.
The whole coven is as fragile as it can possibly get.
Then, Eleazar goes to join Esme in the kitchen, and explodes all over her and the kitchen.
The remaining Denali and the Cullens are called to the kitchen by the sound of Esme's screaming, and find her in hysterics, surrounded by gray rubble.
The Denali are near catatonic with grief at this point, while cooking has been ruined for Esme. One moment you're making food, the next people are exploding all over your kitchen.
Yeah.
Esme is not okay.
Jasper watches Nahuel blow up.
It's a shameful moment in his life.
But, hybrids are edible.
And that blood was splattered all over him.
Jasper has the worst control fail of his life, worse even than when he failed with Bella because this fail means he can't be around Renesmée anymore.
It's miserable all around.
The one highlight here is that it didn't happen when they were headed to the Volturi trial together.
Rosalie watches Emmett blow up.
Jesus christ, random Twilight character generator, just when I thought you were just going to give me boring results.
Not only does Rosalie lose the love of her life, the guy who kept her together, the one good thing she had going for her who made her life worth living, but he did so right in front of her, blowing up out of nowhere.
There's no explanation to be had, no culprit to be found, no reason for it. She had no goodbye, just as she can have no revenge.
She will never have closure.
Renesmée watches Renée blow up.
We go out on a high note, my god. Well done, generator, I'm laughing.
Renesmée is curious enough about her grandmother to go to Florida. She was going to watch from afar, but finds herself talking to the woman who raised her mother.
It's all going well until Renée suddenly explodes all over Renesmée.
Renesmée's first thought is nothing, she's in shock.
Then...
Well, she was controlled as an infant, so I don't think an adult Renesmée would lose it unless under extreme circumstances, like if she encountered a singer.
More, though, Renesmée might have any reasons of her own not to drink human blood, but she has been raised with this being a big no-no.
So she shouldn't.
However...
Is she ever going to get a better chance?
Ethically, she could easily argue this is the right choice. No one will be negatively affected by this, at least not directly.
The human is right there, already dead, and there's no body so while Renesmée does have to clean up the gore. Hell, if she laps up the blood on her clothes and the ground she will be cleaning up. Why waste perfectly good blood?
If Renesmée Cullen is ever going to have human blood, this is it.
It will come down to how much she respects her grandfather, and how important she believes Renée was to Bella.
-
Bonus, because I'm having way too much fun with this:
Bree watches Atheonodora blow up.
Bree is minding her own business when suddenly a vampire unlike any she has ever seen before, one with hazy eyes and odd skin, appears before her. They stare at each other. Then the woman blows up.
Bree takes this to mean that exploding is apparently something vampires just do sometimes, runs off in a panic and, sobbing, tells Riley.
Riley, having no idea what to make of any of this, tells her it was those evil yellow-eyes with their witchcraft and sorcery.

Caress (Adam x f!detective)
Pairing: Adam du Mortain x f!detective (Emilia Miranda) Word count: 1.1K Warnings: None Summary: The detective got a new haircut and Unit Bravo is quick to notice, some more than others.
Author’s Note: Hi, I’m Bree. I just finished TWC and was left with a lot of feelings. It’s been days and I haven’t stopped thinking about that option to change the detective’s hair in the book 3 demo. So here we are.
Thank you @aestheticartsx for pre-reading!
Tumblr media
The Detective's heartbeat flutters wildly, like the wings of a desperate, terrified hummingbird. Adam can hear the erratic rhythm even before Unit Bravo strides into the station that morning.
They pass the officers and staff whose names he hadn't bothered to learn, the drumming of her pulse reaching a fever pitch. It becomes evident that Emilia is nervous, even terrified, of something. By the time they reach her door, his mind has conjured a multitude of scenarios where her safety is compromised, each more horrifying than the last.
Adam quickens his stride, every nerve on high alert, his muscles coiled with concern.
Until his eyes land on her.
Her back is to them but even then, he can immediately appreciate the difference in her appearance. The curtain of long, glossy hair that once rippled down her back in the most maddening way is gone, for the most part. It is replaced instead with a blunt sheet of waves that barely reach her chin.
Adam feels a sharp, inexplicable pang of loss at the absence of tantalizing brown waves. And then she turns to face them, the full effect of sharper cheekbones and a graceful, long neck halting his steps.
Felix wolf whistles. “Em, you look—”
For the first time in a long time, even Felix is speechless.
“Hot.”
Shell shocked, everyone turns to Mason, already seated in his dark corner, a plume of smoke swirling from his cigarette. He shrugs, unabashed about the brief compliment.
Felix nods in solemn agreement.
“More than hot.” His fingers make a faux photo frame, inspecting Emilia through it as though she was a piece of fine art. “Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before.”
Emilia lets out an unrestrained bout of laughter. Adam revels in the sound, incredulous that he once found it irritating.
“I never should have sent you that meme,” she says to Felix, though the rosy bloom of her cheeks indicates she's flattered.
“You look lovely, Em,” Nate informs her earnestly before taking his usual seat.
Emilia gives Nate a grateful smile that makes Adam's insides twist with longing.
A short silence ensues and everyone's attention falls on Adam, no doubt awaiting his reaction.
Except he has no words.
“It's…” he begins, his voice sounding gruffer than usual even to his own ears.
Immediately, he amends that last thought. He could think of many words, in many languages, that could begin to pay homage to her. They would fall short, never encapsulating her incandescent charm or her arresting beauty, but for a second, Adam wants to spend hundreds of years trying.
The detective visibly takes in a breath through parted, pink lips as she waits for the end of that sentence. Her heartbeat picks up again and it dawns on him that this is what she was so nervous about.
Adam's teeth clench together, masterfully stifling the wave of emotion she effortlessly draws.
“... Practical.”
Emilia's expression falls, her gaze moving away from his with a resignation that makes his stomach clench painfully.
“It is,” she says in a small voice.
The words feel like a blunt knife.
She doesn't look at him once for the duration of their meeting, even when he offers brusque input from his spot by the window. By the time their time together draws to a close, Adam's crossed arms dig into his chest, every nerve ending aware of her every move.
“You really do look great, Em,” Felix is saying with a simper as he prepares to leave. “Don't mind Adam, though. He's only upset he can't fantasize about pulling your hair from—”
The murderous look Adam throws the younger vampire cuts the words short. Instead, Felix dissolves into a wicked laugh before following Nate and Mason out of the office.
Adam begins to follow, too, but he stops at the door. Shoulders pinched with tension, he turns to face her, despite his better judgment. Her gaze clicks with his, paralyzing him on the spot and charging the air around him with crackling energy.
The silence is heavy, deafening.
Then, Emilia glances away, busying herself with some documents on her desk. An errant lock of hair falls across her face with the movement and Adam's fingers curl at his sides.
“Is there anything else, Commanding Agent du Mortain?”
The use of his professional moniker is expected. Yet, that doesn't ease the sting of hearing it.
“Not at all, Detective Miranda.”
She barely nods in acknowledgement, already making her way to the exit with a purposeful gait. “Good. If you'll excuse me, I have to meet with Verda about—”
Her words stop abruptly when Adam remains fixed on the spot, blocking her path out the door.
Their considerable height difference has her staring straight at his chest. Beautiful, soulful brown eyes move to his neck like the delicate, featherlight caress of a lover. By the time her gaze reaches his eyes, Adam's mouth is dry, his skin feeling too tight for his body.
He swallows with much effort, unable to look away.
They remain like that, mere inches apart. Emilia searches his expression, desperately hoping to find something.
“It suits you.”
The words leave Adam before he can stop them.
“What?”
“You hair.”
Emilia blinks, unsure of what to say.
Having her so close that her breath brushes his skin is pure torture for Adam, his body aching to pull her closer still. Before reason kicks in, he reaches out to her, his fingers brushing away that stray piece of hair.
The detective sucks in a shuddering breath but she doesn't move away from his touch. Instead, her eyes flutter closed, long lashes casting shadows across jutting cheekbones.
Adam's fingers move to the plane of her cheeks, tracing a path so delicate, it's as if he's afraid to scare her away.
In a way, he is.
He is terrified she will realize just how undeserving he is of her.
His eyes follow the movements with as much intensity, enraptured by how right their skin looks, pressed together. The pad of his thumb reaches the corner of her mouth, aching to travel the swell of her bottom lip.
“Emilia, Verda is wondering—Oh.”
The officer called Tina comes to an abrupt stop a few paces behind Adam.
“I'll be right there,” Emilia calls to her friend.
Adam opens his mouth though he is unsure what to say. It doesn't matter because the detective has already averted her gaze, her spine straightening with quiet dignity.
Perhaps she knows that had it not been for her friend's interruption, Adam would have retreated, as he always did.

The missing note- Magical Mystery Ride Chapter Fifteen
Tumblr media
Author’s Note- This is a Teddy/Tyler chapter.
Warnings- language and angst;
Previous Chapter- Trouble in Paradise-
https://starshine-hockey-girl.tumblr.com/post/658710228764901376/trouble-in-paradise-magical-mystery-ride-chapter
                                        Wednesday May 9th
Teddy gathered her things and did a quick check of the villa for any remaining items. Bree watched silently from a cracked bedroom door. Teddy placed Katie's birthday gift on the kitchen island where it couldn't be missed. Next to it, placed an envelope with Tyler's name written in neat handwriting. She put on her sunglasses and walked out the door. The black suburban waited as she emerged from the Villa. The driver grabbed Teddy's bag and placed it in the rear of the SUV as Teddy slid into the backseat. They rode silently as Teddy checked her phone once again, still no contact from Lex. She furrowed her brow and put the phone away. The suburban pulled onto the airstrip and Teddy got out of the car and walked up the stairs into the awaiting jet. After she got settled in her seat, the steward approached, “Ms. Baxter, the pilot needs to complete the flight plan. What will be our final destination today?” Teddy checked her phone again- no text from either Lex or Tyler. “Pittsburgh,” she sighed, “I need to do something in Pittsburgh.”
Back at the villa, Bree came out of her bedroom  and surveyed the kitchen. She rolled her eyes at the beautifully wrapped gift Teddy had left on the counter. “Of course,” Bree thought, “She is just so perfect.” Bree’s eyes scanned the counter and saw the envelope to Tyler. She grabbed it and held it in her hands and looked around the room. “That fucking bitch,” Bree thought to herself, “She cannot stay away from him.” She took the envelope and returned to her bedroom. She tore the envelope open and read the note.
Dear Tyler- I am sorry for leaving without saying goodbye to you. I knew that you would only try to stop me. I need to go and finally end things with Lex for good. Thank you for your support the past six months as I stupidly longed and pined for Lex. I allowed myself to be blinded to the amazing man who has been by my side though thick and thin. I don’t know why I didn’t see it until tonight. Maybe it is my imagination, but it felt like something changed between us on the jet when you held my hand. Did you feel it too? Then I felt it again last night while we danced. If there is a chance that you feel the same way, know that I am only a phone call/text away. If you don’t feel that way about me, I can accept that. We’ll still be friends and I will see you when you return for the season. Either way, know that I care about you. I want only good things for you,Tyler, because that is what you deserve. Love-Teddy
Bree tore up the note and flushed the bits down the toilet. “Good luck with that you stupid bitch,” she taunted as watched it go down the drain. She finished her make-up and went into the kitchen to wait for Tyler. The rest of the group was slowly rising for the day. The sun and alcohol along with the Bree/Teddy drama had left them exhausted. Andrea and Bish come of their rooms first, got their coffees and took them outside to drink.
Tyler walked out of the smallest bedroom drying his hair with a towel, shorts slung low on his hips. He nodded at Bree before knocking on Teddy's bedroom, "Teddy? It's me." A few moments passed and Tyler knocked again, "Teddy? Are you okay? I'm coming in." He entered the room to find the bed made and no trace of Teddy in the room. His eyes scanned the room in confusion. He went out into the living room, game room, through the kitchen and onto the balcony. Andrea and Bish were laying on a lounger, enjoying the sunshine. "Hey, have you seen Teddy? I can't find her," Tyler called with a tinge of panic in his voice.
"No, but we slept in this morning," Bish called back. Tyler went back and retraced his steps through the house. Bree watched him silently, the anger rising in her.
Tyler passed by again without acknowledging her and knocked on Katie and Benn's door. "Hey, Is Teddy in there?"
Benn called back, "yeah, she agreed to my fantasy threesome last night."
Tyler's eyes flashed with anger and Katie slapped Benn's head before answering the door. "You can't find her? She did say something about leaving last night," Katie answered.
"What do you mean- leave?" Tyler questioned.
Bree spoke in a sing song voice, "Are you looking for Teddy? She left an hour ago. She had her bags with her."
Tyler spun around, "You saw her leave? Did she say anything?"
Bree inwardly squealed in her newfound power. "She said that she was leaving, and she needed some space. She said she would reach out when she is ready to talk to you," she lied.
Tyler's face twisted, "She left? She didn't even say goodbye. That's not like her."
Bree shrugged, "I mean, what do expect Tyler? She moped over Big Rig for two days and he ghosted her. She practically dry humped you last night and you rejected her. Then there was the whole fight with me. She is probably embarrassed. I would give her space."
Tyler tried to remember the exact details of dancing with Teddy the night before. He didn't remember explicitly rejecting her, but it was fuzzy. Had he embarrassed her? Tyler turned to Katie, "Do you think that's it? Should I give her space?"
Katie paused for a moment, "I think she is obviously going through something if she left without saying goodbye to anyone. She will reach out when she is ready."
Tyler rubbed his hands through his curls, "Okay, if you think so."
Tyler walked Bree to the car and waited as the driver loaded her bags into the car. "So do you have boarding pass on your phone?" Tyler asked.
Bree looked up from her phone, "Uhhhh, yeah. I got it."
They stood silently for a moment before Tyler asked, "Did you ever care about me? Even a little?"
Tyler retorted, "So that’s a no? Fair enough since I really didn’t care about you either. We’re done though. Have a safe trip. Paul will send you everything from the house. I don't think there is much there though."
Bree tilted her head, "Tyler, you know it was just a casual thing for both of us. You got what you wanted from me and I got what I wanted from you. If it’s over, no hard feelings."
Bree shrugged her shoulders and got in the car. She rolled her window down, “Tyler, do you think that Teddy would be interested in you? I mean, come on- you’re the ultimate fuck boi. You should stick to what you know best and forget her.” Tyler winced at her words and walked back into the villa.
Teddy’s jet landed in Pittsburgh six hours later. The crew of the jet started the refueling process as Teddy spoke with the captain briefly. “Yes, the plane will be ready to leave when you return,” he confirmed. She got into the waiting car and gave the address to Lex’s apartment. During the ride, Teddy texted her father to give him the update. She looked around nervously when she exited the car. She bent down and told the driver to wait for her. Teddy composed herself and walked the hall to Lex’s apartment. She heard the sound of the TV as she knocked on the door.
“Just a minute,” she heard him call as he walked to the door. He swung open the door with beer in his head. He was dressed casually in sweatpants and an old tournament jersey. His eyes were blood shot and his curls were unruly. “What the….” he mumbled and dropped the beer to the floor as he saw Teddy standing in front of him.
“Hi Lex”, she stated quietly, “Can I come in?” He stepped aside and she walked past him, careful to step over the beer pouring out onto the tile floor. He scrambled to grab a hand towel to clean up the beer as Teddy walked around the living room slowly and quietly. Teddy crossed her arms and waited by the couch as Lex finished cleaning the mess.
“What are you doing here Bliss?" Lex asked as he put the damp towel in the hamper.
“Good question Lex, but I am not sure what I am doing here either,” Teddy spit out. Lex retreated back into the kitchen, but Teddy followed. “Can I see your phone?” she inquired.
“Why?” Lex questioned before handing her his phone. She scrolled to their text conversation. “Yep, it’s there. The last text message that you sent me about being a bad ass, the three additional selfies I sent that you didn’t respond to, and then the final text telling you that I needed you and to please call. That was 18 hours ago Lex and no response. Can you explain it to me? Why I am not worthy of a text or a call?” Teddy tried valiantly to keep a brave face, but tears flowed down her face.
Lex looked down, “Fuck.”
Teddy parroted back, “Fuck is right.”
They stood in the silence for a few minutes. “Now I am not even worthy of a response when I am standing right here? What the fuck Lex?” she cried.
“You know that’s not the truth, Bliss. You know that you are worth more to me than that. I just couldn’t do it yesterday. I couldn’t and I am sorry that it hurt you,” Lex pleaded.
“What happened Lex? What happened yesterday?” Teddy replied. She looked around the room and saw the empty beer bottles and takeout containers. “Are you okay Lex?” she asked.
He shook his head no and walked over to the couch. “I am trying to be okay, but I am not,” he admitted before sitting down.
“Did something happen specifically or is it the playoffs? Talk to me Lex,” she urged as she sat down beside him. She noticed of how quickly she had switched her focus from herself to him and made a note to discuss with her therapist.
She nudged his knee and sat back. “Okay, I will just wait right here. Do you want to hear about my shitty day first?” she joked.
Lex leaned back, “Nah, I will go first. I just had a pity party for myself. I got drunk and had a pity party for myself, then I sobered up and asked for some help. I saw a therapist today.”
Teddy turned to face him, “You saw a therapist?”
Lex joked, “Yeah, this really smart woman named Bliss told me all about therapy. Turns out she’s right.” He continued, “Being traded fucked with my mind more than I realized. Now being a restricted free agent, I am feeling anxiety about my future which is new to me. I think the Penguins want to keep me, but what if they don’t? Then I have to start over someplace else. That’s why I didn’t call or text you. I didn’t want to disappoint you.”
Teddy climbed into Lex’s lap and hugged him tight. “Disappoint me? I don’t think I have been prouder of you than in this moment. Look at you feeling anxiety and getting help. You’re a badass!”
Lex squirmed underneath Teddy and she resumed her spot next to him. “Your turn,” Lex spoke softly.
Lex sighed, “I don’t feel like a badass.” Teddy looked into his eyes, “Well then, I will remind you every day until you do. That’s what best friends do.”
Teddy took a breath, “Okay, but I don’t think that you are going to like it, so I apologize in advance if I am adding to your shitty day.”
Lex raised an eyebrow, “Well now I am curious.”
Teddy sighed, “I think I may be sort of, kind of in love with Tyler.”
Lex laughed, “What happened?”
Teddy turned to look at Lex, “Wait, you aren’t mad or upset?”
Lex propped his long legs on the coffee table, “Why would I be mad or upset about it? I figured it out a while back. At least that he has feelings for you. Now tell me what happened”
Teddy started to explain, but questioned, “What you do you mean he has feelings for me?”
Lex threw his hands into air, “Damn it Bliss, I will tell you later. Tell me what happened!”
Teddy continued to explain happened on the jet Monday on the way to St. Thomas and the Tuesday night dance. She commented, “I have hugged and being physically close to him before, but I never felt anything like a I felt on Monday. Then Tuesday night I almost kissed him after practically dry humping him while dancing. It just felt perfect for just a few minutes. Like everything I ever wanted was right there in front of me.”
Lex turned to her, “If that’s the case, why are you here? Why aren’t you saying this to Tyler?
Teddy blinked, “Oh for just about a gazillion reasons.”
Lex countered, “like you are being a chickenshit and running from the truth?
Teddy pursed her lips, “Damn, one therapy session and you think you got all the wisdoms. What exactly is the truth Lex? Tyler has given me zero indications that he is into me other when he is drunk.”
Lex pursued, “Didn’t you mention a hard-on on the plane? He wasn’t drunk then, was he? I also think the fact that he lost his mind and wanted to fight me during the game is another indication. Didn’t you say that he was going to send Bree home today because of your fight? Face it Bliss, the signs are there.”
Teddy thought for a few moments, “But what if you are wrong?”
Lex countered, “But if what I am right?”
Teddy rested her head on Lex’s chest, “You’re right. I am being a chickenshit. I am just scared.”
Lex kissed the top of her head, “We can be scared together.”
Teddy whispered, “I did leave him a note though and told him about my feelings in the note. That’s something, right? We’ll see what he does.”
Teddy and Lex sat in silence on the couch. “Oh fuck, I need to text the car and plane. I told them I wasn’t going to stay, but now I kind of want to stay with you tonight. Can I stay?”
Lex nodded, “Sure as long as you promise me a Wicked free existence.”
After sending texts, Teddy rested again on Lex. “Hey Lex, this feels different today. Does it feel different to you?”
He wrapped his arms around her, “Yeah, but not in a bad way. This feels really good, but we have changed since you went and fell in love.”
She sat up and kissed his cheek, “Still best friends?”
He smiled, “Best friends forever.”
                                      Summer 2018
Teddi spent the next two weeks with Lex. First packing up his Pittsburgh apartment for the offseason then traveling to his family’s cottage to decompress. Teddy and Penny spent the majority of the time ganging up on him while he pretended to whine. When Lex dropped off her at the airport for her flight back to Dallas, they left with promise both of them continuing therapy and of a return trip by Teddy to Pittsburgh for the beginning on the season.
Teddy and Tyler didn’t contact each other over the summer. Teddy assumed that Tyler didn’t return her feelings and Tyler assumed that she needed her space. You know what happens with assumptions. They kept up each other lives through Instagram likes and comments. Tyler traveled back to Toronto and then finished his summer with BioSteel camp. Teddy quit her corporate job and focused on her social media platforms.
                                   Monday, September 3rd- Labor Day
Tyler pulled up to Bishop’s house for the Second Annual Labor Day bash. He smiled as he parked his car in the same spot as last year and walked into the house. He had failed to notice Teddy’s jeep also parked in her parent’s driveway. The party was going strong when Tyler arrived. The food and drinks were plentiful and there was a bevy of beautiful women vying for his attention. Instead, Tyler found his teammates to laugh and catch up after their summers.
Teddy was laying out with Katie who had just returned to town with Benn. She lifted her head when she heard the sound of Tyler’s voice. She turned to look at him and stomach flipped. “Damn,” she thought to herself, “Why do I do this to myself?
Tyler’s felt Teddy’s gaze on him before he turned around. The hair on the back of head stood on end and he felt a tingle down his spine. Teddy had just turned her head when his gaze rested on her physique. “Shit,” he told himself, “She looks good.” He corrected himself as he continued to watch her from a distance, “No, she looks happy.”
Teddy and Tyler spent the rest of the afternoon playing a subconscious game of Cat and Mouse. When one got too close, the other would make an immediate retreat in the opposite direction. Stephen Johns picked up his phone and facetimed Lex, “Hey buddy, are you seeing what I am seeing here?” Lex watched as Johnsy followed Teddy and Tyler actively trying to avoid each other.
“Shit,” Lex muttered, “She is still being a chickenshit.”
Teddy and Tyler continued avoiding each and it worked perfectly until they literally ran into each in the hallway, although this time it was Tyler with his head down looking at his phone. The force of the collision caused both of them to stumble. One of Tyler’s strong arms wrap around Teddy and guided her back against the wall before using his hands to brace himself against the wall also.
“You know I’ve heard bad things happen when you don’t keep your head up-particularly in hockey, “ Teddy quipped as her face rested inches away from Tyler’s face. Neither of them moved and they stared into each other’s eyes. Tyler’s hand ghosted around her face before resting on the wall again. Again, neither moved until Tyler blinked his eyes and stood up slowly.
There was a slightest twist to Tyler’s face as he asked, “Were you going to ignore me all day? Like you have ignored me all summer?”
Teddy stood up straighter, “I wasn’t ignoring you. I was respecting your decision.”
Tyler had begun to walk away and turned around, “What decision Teddy? I didn’t have a decision. You just walked away-you didn’t even have the decency to say goodbye!”
Teddy froze a second, “What do you mean I didn’t say goodbye? I did! I left a note for you on the counter. Didn’t you get it?”
Tyler furrowed his brow and shouted, “There wasn’t a note. There was the gift for Katie, but no note. Go ask Katie. She’ll tell you. You just disappeared without telling anyone!”
Teddy’s mind raced. Even if Tyler hadn’t gotten a note, why wouldn’t he have tried to reach out at all? Did he just not care? She pushed him away and ran down the hall and out to the patio. She grabbed Katie by the arm, “Was there a note in St. Thomas? I left a note for Tyler when I left. It was right by your gift.”
Katie shook her head, “No, there wasn’t a note.”
Teddy spun around and she raced into the kitchen. She saw Tyler there pouring himself a drink and then spun around right into the chest of Johnsy. He grabbed her by the arm and took her into the media room. Her phone rang with a Face time call from Lex. She broke down in tears when she saw Lex’s face.
“Bliss, what’s wrong? Why are you crying?” he asked.
Teddy looked from the phone to Johnsy but he had disappeared from the room  and back to Lex, “He didn’t get the note, Lex. He didn’t get the note and that’s why he never called or texted. He must hate me now.”
Johnsy reappeared with Tyler and Katie. The motley crew stood and stared at each other until Johnsy took charge again. He pointed to Teddy to the nearest chair, “You sit there” and repeated the command for Katie and Tyler.
Tyler huffed, “Why are we in here Johnsy? Tell me- why we are in here?” Tyler looked around the room but refused to make eye contact with Teddy.
Johnsy spoke, “We are in here because of this.” He pushed the play button on the large screen. Short videos of Tyler staring at Teddy played followed by short videos of Teddy staring at Tyler played on the big screen.
Teddy and Tyler’s mouths dropped. “You were taking videos of us? Why?” Teddy questioned.
Lex’s voice boomed out of the phone, “Because Bliss I love you, but the two of you need to your heads out of your asses.”
Tyler got up and paced, “My head is not up my ass. She left me in St. Thomas with no goodbye and no contact since then."
Teddy shot back, “For the last time, I left a note, but even if I didn’t, why would you not contact me if I left with no goodbye? You weren’t the least bit worried about where I went or how I was? Did you really think that I would just leave without any sort of explanation? Do you really think that I am that heartless?”
Tyler questioned back, “Did you really think that if I had gotten a note that I wouldn’t have contacted you? Did you really think I didn’t have a reason not to contact you?”
Katie and Johnsy followed the back and forth like a tennis game and Lex just listened, trying to keep up. Katie interjected, “Tyler didn’t contact you because Bree told us that you said you would contact him when you are ready.”
Teddy turned to Katie, “Bree told you what?”
Katie continued, “Yeah, she told us that you were upset, that you needed space and that you would contact Tyler when you were ready.”
Teddy turned to Tyler who turned away, “I never talked to Bree that morning. I swear to God. I never said any of what she said I did. I would never leave without saying goodbye to you. You gotta know that. Tyler, please look at me.”
Tyler turned his head and looked at Teddy who blinked back tears, “I swear Tyler, I would never leave without saying goodbye. I would never do that to you. That’s why you didn’t contact me this summer? Because she said that?”
Tyler nodded, “That among other things. If you left this note and didn’t hear from me, why didn’t you contact me? You know that I wouldn’t just go the entire summer and no contact you, right?”
Teddy froze, “I didn’t contact you because I assumed that you read the note, made your choice and followed what I told you in the note.”
Tyler’s face twisted, “What choice? What choice was in the note Teddy?”
Teddy looked down on the ground and choked back tears, “I can’t say it. It’s too embarrassing.”
Lex’s voice boomed from the phone again, “It’s not embarrassing Bliss. You are just scared. You can say it.”
Teddy whispered, “I can’t. I’m scared.”
Lex’s voice boomed again, “Bliss, I swear to God. I am not going to let you miss out because you are being a chickenshit. Either you tell him or I will.”
Teddy spit out, “I really don’t like you right now Lex.”
Lex responded, “I don’t care. I wouldn’t be your best friend if I didn’t make you do it. Now go!”
The group turned their gaze to Teddy, “The note said that I was sorry for not saying goodbye, but I knew that he would try to stop me from leaving. That I was thankful for his friendship even when I was being an idiot and pining for Lex because I didn’t see the amazing man who has been by my side through it all. That I felt something change on the jet on the way to St. Thomas and when we danced. That if he felt the same, to call or text, but if he didn’t, I would see him for the season and we would still be friends because I care about him and only want good things for him.”
Tyler’s mouth dropped. He ran his hands through his hands and looked at the floor.
Lex’s voice boomed out again from the phone, “And what did you tell me in Pittsburgh, Bliss? Tell him that too.”
Teddy looked at Tyler and gulped, “I told you that I think that I am in love with Tyler. So that’s why I didn’t contact you Tyler. I thought you got the note and didn’t feel the same. Then today I thought I could just go back to being just your friend and I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t put the feeling back into the bottle.”
Teddy groaned as she heard Lex’s voice boom again, “Look at you Bliss. Being a badass!”
Katie took Johnsy and left the room. Lex hung up the phone call. Tyler and Teddy sat across from each other in silence. Teddy got up to head toward the door, “It’s okay if you don’t feel the same Tyler. I understand. I’m not the girl who gets Tyler Seguin. I don’t know who she is, but she is damn lucky.”
Tyler looked at her and whispered, “Did you mean it? Did you mean it when said that I am an amazing man? You don’t think that I am some Fuckboi?”
Teddy came and sat on her knees in front of Tyler, “Yes, I meant it. You don’t have any idea how amazing you are. You are the one who noticed that I was struggling the night of the Haunted House. You are the one who carried me out when I was frozen in fear. You are the one who came to check on me the next day. You are the one who hounded Bishop and came after me when I fought with Lex. You are the one who took care of me after Lex left and humiliated himself to call Crosby because I was freaking out. It has always been you, Tyler. I was just too blind to see it. You are furthest thing from a Fuckboi. Who told you that?”
Tyler lightly grabbed Teddy by shoulders and pulled her up to his lap. “It’ doesn’t matter who told me that now. Can I I kiss you now? because I know that I am in love with you too.”
“Yes,” Teddy gasped, “Wait, you’re in love with...”
Tyler put his hands on her cheeks and kissed her softly. He then kissed again a little more firmly. The kisses between Teddy and Tyler grew like their friendship-more passionate with each kiss. Their tongues and lips communicated a year of unspoken feelings of friendship and love. They broke apart and stared at each other before starting the kisses began again. The passion was pure and electric at same time. They stayed in the media room for the next hour, just kissing and enjoying each other’s company.
Finally, Tyler spoke “Teddy, would you go on a date with me?”
Teddy giggled, “Ummm yes- when did you want to go on a date with me?”
Tyler smiled, “Is tomorrow too soon? I need to make up for some lost time.”
Teddy kissed him again and whispered into his ear, “I like the sound of that.”
