Whumpee overhears Caretaker talking to someone on the phone, saying how stressed they’ve been lately, how they haven’t gotten any sleep for the past couple of days, and how paranoid they are that Whumper could come back.

So of course, Whumpee blames themself. 

The stress is likely because Whumpee’s sensitivity and neediness.

The lack of sleep is because Whumpee is always having nightmares or waking them up in the middle of the night to sleep in their bed with them.

They’re paranoid Whumper will show up because of them. Whumper is only looking for them, not Caretaker.

So they figure the only solution is to run away, where they’ll never be a burden to Caretaker again. 

Now it’s a race to see who will find Whumpee first: Caretaker or Whumper?

idk if this is a controversial or unpopular opinion but uhm. el does have a personhood and a personality outside of mike. and imo her getting a final amount of strength from hearing someone she loves reciprocate that love is not really an issue, my only problem with it is that it was corny writing and unconvincing. like stranger things loves to do the power of love thing tbh but i like that its about a lot of forms of love - familial, platonic, romantic, etc, and i don’t think that monologue was diminishing to el’s character or independence. tbh i actually thought el’s character was one of the best handled ones in vol 2, especially with how they wrote her scene with dr brenner dying and everything that happened with max.

who do i think did lose their personality a bit? (non controversial) mike. his entire arc and personality now revolves solely around el, to the point where he cannot even properly engage with other characters because they have him on this like ‘el only’ plot line (for example when he does not notice will crying next to him in the car which is just. an insane(ly bad) decision to me). el has the arc with mike, but also her connections to other characters are so important (dr brenner, max, even the end with her and lucas hugging for like 2 seconds honestly made me feel more than the m*ke m*nologue did lmao because of the shared trauma and love they have about max). mike literally only has the arc with el. this is especially weird because even in that character arc he is very passive. el is expressing her emotions and is reacting to everything he is doing (in the beginning in cali) and he is fairly unresponsive. he doesn’t make the monologue until will literally pushes him into doing it. also making him unaware of will’s character arc (being in love with him), they make him so oblivious and ignorant of it that hes completely passive in that arc as well, so much so that i would say its basically only a will arc when it should have been about both of them.

everyone on the server was willing to give him a life to keep him from dying first. He and bdubs interacted like once but the second bdubs heard that he was on 7 minutes he let jimmy kill him. Scott let jimmy kill him. bot joel AND grian said they were going to give him a life to stop him from getting out first. when he died, even people that were AGAINST him were disappointed. and somehow the ONE TIME that the ENTIRE SERVER is rallying on his side, where half the server would have let him kill them for a life, the way he dies is by mysteriously unshifting on the edge of a structure

im a fic writer bro that was the watchers they were pissed that literally everyone except mister goodtimeswithsadism and like, cleo were rooting for him and they just flicked him off the edge bro what. also the fact that he should have died earlier from etho's boogie kill...they were just compensating.

Idk if you’re much of a fanfic person but I recently found a Sakura-centric story on ao3 called “roots run deep” and it’s pretty good so far! Not complete yet but it’s canon divergent with some good team 7 bonding. The author is also an artist, which made me think of your amazing art, which made me want to recommend it :)

I’ve just been reminded again how much I hate the way fanon treats Lazarus Pit Madness, because there’s actually compelling (ok personally satisfying/amusing) retcons I would LOVE to jokingly attribute to the Lazarus Pit if it was well known at causing odd, longer term effects, but the way Jason fanon goes on about it makes me super doctrinaire about its actual effects.

Because if we are discussing ‘weird Pit effects’, Dinah got time-reversed Pit madness that convinced her to date Ra’s al Ghul in Birds of Prey, Bane getting dunked in Gotham Knights and his madness being cured led to a nagging tendency towards better behaviour that eventually turned into his Secret Six run (it eventually wore off, thanks to universe reboots), and Cass became more vulnerable to drug induced behaviour that Slade exploited into her Evil Cass arc. It probably also cured Edmund Dorrance of his narrative invulnerability to death, given he doesn’t get any subsequent surprise survivals and was dead for Blackest Night.

There’s also the hilarious concept that, given the timing of Kate’s run in ‘Tec and Batman & Robin #9, Kate Kane went into the Lazarus Pit unrelated to Bruce Wayne and came out his cousin (and personally immune to Flashpoint). Maybe getting her resurrection alongside the clone body DNA did weird stuff to her family tree.

ive got an essay due at 3pm tomorrow and ive not even looked at it i am so so unserious about my degree and by the grace of some higher being i somehow keep managing to crawl through it's actually getting a bit funny

#me and an old friend of mine used to have a running joke during a-levels that im just one of those people where shit Works Out #and it started bc we shared two a-levels (english and economics) and in BOTH classes i regularly didn't do the homework #or the reading etc and yet it would ALWAYS work out for me #like we'd walk into a class neither of us having done the homework and they'd get yelled at while i went under the radar somehow #or that one english essay i got the highest score in the class when i literally hadn't even read the fucking book it was on #and when we pointed the theory out it started just becoming really prevalent #like no matter how late i am for things i'll arrive and by some miracle the thing im late for is also late (e.g a train or teacher) #like im just one of those people that has very very mundane luck #and low and behold i am fighting this degree with bloody fists putting the absolute bare minimum in for my own sanity's sake #and i SOMEHOW keep pulling through. literally failed two modules last year and STILL got a 2:1 average #and the last essay i wrote was the worst essay id ever done in my life and i get my standards are higher bc ik im good at essays #but the point still stands and you know what? i got a FIRST #literally was pure waffle i have never blagged it so hard and i got a FIRST #and all this shit just makes me cockier and cockier and go even more by the skin of my teeth and it ALWAYS WORKS OUT #it's soooo silly but im not complaining. anyway ill keep u posted about this essay <3 it's econ history so is actually interesting #but the most ive done for it is ask the sc ai lmao and for context degree-level essays usually require a good few days of graft #live love laziness #hella goes to uni
