do you have any good DBH fic recommendation lists?

Oh my God YES (Mostly Reed900 and Simarkus :D)

The first fic I'll always recommend to everyone is Leading By Example by Kurana. It's hands down the best Simarkus fic I've ever read, and one of the best fics I've ever read in general. It's got fake relationship to lovers, mutual pining, sharing a bed, emotional intimacy, good North content, dad Carl, even some minor dad Hank in the background, and a cool plot with Kamski that interprets his character a bit differently than I would but is just as fascinating and intriguing. I love it so much and it makes me feel emotions I didn't know I had. I still cry everytime I read it.

White Lilac by WritingIsMyCoffee - This has LOTS of Dad Hank/Anderson Fam content, which is why I read it in the first place. It's kinda Chloe x Connor centric, which I don't ship but I didn't mind it, and it was cute for the story. There's background Simarkus and developing Reed900. Very angsty, but has a happy ending.

From now on forever by KaterinaSentByCyberLife, if you like wedding fluff (I usually don’t, but this one is so good). Reed900, background Simarkus, and Dad Hank, it’s beautiful I love it a lot

Interstellar Methods of Love and Murder by wordscavenger. It's Simarkus and Reed900, and an AU fic. idk what the AU is exactly but they're gay and in space, shit goes down, and they have to stop it. It's got a super cool plot and the pining is real. I love it. Also has funny RK bros shenanigans.

and the secret garden bloomed and bloomed by farouche. It's a beautiful modern AU Simarkus fic and also Simon works in a flower shop and Markus is an artist who's drawn to him. There's also some funny Daniel and Simon being brothers content.

Heavenly Bodies by raphae11e - Simarkus canon compliant AU, everything's the same except the revolution lasts several months rather than a week, and there's so much mutual pining.

Turning the Tide by LupoLight and He's My Partner by LupoLight. They’re not related fics but I like them both a lot.

Nines is Nefarious by AndroidTrash800. It's a Reed900 Dexter AU (basically, serial killer with morals) and it's amazing. It's also funny and angsty but with a beautiful happy ending. Also Dad Hank <3

Time in a Tree and The Last Romance by SunshineHead. It's a two part series and it's so sad and sweet and ofc it has a happy ending bc I can't do angst without a happy ending but it def made me tear up. More Dad Hank <3 (Nines is called Conan in this series but I just downloaded it as an epub, opened it through the Calibre e-book editor, and used the find and replace feature to replace every instance of "Conan" with "Nines" bc I can't read him with a different name djfhsj)

GRIND ME DOWN by @texssins (texs_sins on ao3). I was expecting smut with casual plot and got blindsided by some excellent angst. There's also a twist that I SHOULD have seen coming but definitely didn't and it was awesome.

And of course, last but certainly not least, I have to recommend Adapt and Endure (the fic and the comic) by @aydaptic. It's a staple Reed900 fic. The second part - Liberosis - is great as well.

Just finished chapter 3 - the quickest so far 😇 If I keep up that pace I would be able to finish the whole thing before the deadline which is the end of April 😎

1. Lito Perezito @turningpointweb - one of the first Reed900 pieces I’ve discovered and one of my favorites so far 😍 Not only did he created the most gorgeous 3D webcomic he also made an incredible soundtrack for it 🎼 One of his songs made a huge impact on the future chapter 💙

Spell Your Name in Songs

Okay, let’s do it!

Thank you @kolchekyourweapons for the tag and your magnificent choice of songs! First of all, English is not my first language so... if there is anything cringe, you know why. I’ll try my best! Also this is a good method to practice :)

To further complicate my existence, I’ve decided to make a list with video games songs ONLY. It's been hard to find them, I admit, but very funny.

1. Never fade away by P. T. Adamczyk & Olga Jankowska - Cyberpunk 2077

So sad and beatiful song. It reminds me that death is always the end (a peaceful but scary death), but the beauty is in what we do and leave along the way and the people we loved and who loved us. In the context of the game, I absolutely loved the relationship between V and Johnny and felt devastated at the end (no spoilers but what a bittersweet ending).

2. Under Stars by AURORA - Mass Effect Andromeda

The feelings are similar to the one before, but more hopeful. Also “how small I feel in the vastness of the universe”, if that makes any sense. Mass Effect & Dragon Age are my favourite games, all of them, and I can’t wait for the next ones!

3.  Radical Mat (Ai Catch) by Goatbed - Dramatical Murder

Well, here we are with my obsession with NitroChiral games, especially Dramatical Murder. A great BL (boy’s love) visual novel, fantastic + enigmatic characters and a shocking + rich history, and a bit more positive than all the other games of the company. This song is pure caos, searching for something that doesn’t exist, feeling love and madness at the same time, missing a part of ourselves from the past but looking for a happy future.

4. I Found a Way by First Aid Kit - Life is Strange 2

This song reminds me that we all have a beast inside and we need to be in peace with it, even letting it out from time to time, but without losing ourselves. And also be there for the people who need us (parents, siblings, friends, lovers, etc.). I know is not a popular opinion, but LiS2 is my favorite game of the three (I just love the road trips) and it has de BEST songs (this one and many others)! I cried a lot with this game!

5. All As One by Miracle Of Sound - Dragon Age Inquisition

Could not miss :D This song embraces the essence of the Dragon Age (and ME) franchise. A group of strangers, united by fate, can become a family and unite for a better future. It's a song for any revolution.

What was the biggest challenge you encountered while writing one of your fics?

It’s a bit hard to explain, but I’ve started to figure out that I have a problem with really conveying the emotional significance of scenes sometimes. I just find myself looking at the words thinking it looks all like a garbled mess in comparison to what I was trying to convey.

What fic or fics are you most proud of? Why?

Honestly, I have a bit of a soft spot for Rooftop Adventures and Love Addict, if only because they’re ones in which I saw the source material and just...went, in just about a single sitting.

And, well, since it’s the only big fic I’ve only ever really managed to make a definite go at finishing, God bless, Bakery AU.

What is the longest fic you have ever written?

I mean, honestly, it’s still Bakery AU. That thing’s well past what even my Nanowrimo story was---and that had to be 50,000 words to qualify.

Is there any fic you’d make changes to? What are those changes?

Honestly, poor Bakery AU suffers in a way from how long I spent holding it as a story to return to in my head. There’s so much that I tried to cram into it that sometimes I feel the urge to return to it if only to iron out the wrinkles in the pacing.

What is the one thing you wish people knew about your writing process?

Sometimes it truly is my own horrible procrastination tendencies that are keeping me from writing. But, honestly, I sometimes think that people can forget that fic writers have lives outside the internet. Sometimes my real life conflicts too much the one I have here, either through social or work obligations or, in worse ways, through affects those can have on my mental health.

I know it can be sucky, but just know I haven’t forgotten a bit of writing anymore than you have.

 I’m a wee bit late, but better late then never! I was tagged by the lovely @aydaptic!

Rules: It’s time to love yourselves! Choose your 5 favorite works you’ve created this year (fics, art, edits, etc!) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you’ve brought into the world in 2017. Tag as many writers/artists/etc as you want (fan or original!) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome works.

1. Finished Downtown Eastside. Although I had started the fic in 2016, I finished writing and posting it in 2017. I’m rather proud of it, if I’m going to be honest. Took a lot of work but it was all worth it. I enjoyed writing it immensely and I’m still flabbergasted and thankful at how many people enjoyed it. So thank you!

2. Two Peas in a Log, written for @rightherejackass. Cute and simple and really fun to write. I don’t often get to write just fluff without my inner demon saying I need ‘Deep Plot’ mixed in. This time I just wrote something simple for once and I liked it!

3. Jealous of a Cutie-Patootie. My first collaboration with the so very talented @fiishes. I had a lot of fun writing this, but I think it deserves special praise because of the incredible artwork done by Fishes. Honestly, skip the fic and just admire the artwork! 

4. Tali and the Terrible Flirt. I was asked to write a Tali/Garrus fic set in my Downtown Eastside universe, and damn was it fun to write! I don’t often focus on relationships outside of my beloved mshenko world, so it was really fun to branch out just a tiiiiiiny little bit (I still wrote it from Shepard’s POV but whatever). Writing Tali is one of my favourite things to do as well. 

5. Escape. I can’t say why I’m proud of this one, but I just am. Getting to explore a... softer, curious side of my Shepard is a treat for me.
