My apartment building has coin-op laundry in the basement, and on the shelf where people store detergent there are also just enough quarters to start one load in the washer. This is the collective "oh shit I forgot my quarters" bank that anyone can borrow from to start laundry without having to climb all the way back up the goddamn stairs first. These quarters have been steadily used and replaced for multiple years now, and every time I see them I think about how upon such small foundations rests all of human society.

out of curiousity, why go with desert duo as moirails? Is that their dynamic from the start? do you plan to have their dynamic shift at all? because i could definitely see them dancing between moraillegence, kismesitude and matespritship

They are moirails to start off with, yes! Or at least that’s what they tell people (& usually tell themselves): Griann is there to pacify high blood Scar for everyone’s safety & in exchange Scar offers protection to Griann, who is a mutant blood. (In fact, Griann probably wouldn’t have made it to adulthood & getting off planet if it weren’t for the fact that his moirail is royalty, but that’s a different post.)

Most people who meet them find this odd because in what world is Scar dangerous? That tall goofy-ass sea dweller? Dude who cries every time the lusus dies in any given film? Can barely keep himself alive guy? Surely Griann mostly is protecting Scar from himself right?

Then they play The Game & realize that oh no, Scar really is a typical sea dweller underneath it all. & even worse, Griann, while very capable of pacifying Scar, will often just choose not to, instead fanning the flames of Scar’s bloodlust.

‘Cause that’s the thing with these two: look even a little close at their relationship & you’ll realize they have the sloppiest effing quadrants you’ve ever seen. Are they pale? Are they flushed? Are they pitch? Who even knows! They sure as hell don’t. Heck, half the time Griann is running around acting ashen between Scar & the world to try to keep him alive!

They say The Signless & The Disciple’s relationship transcended quadrants; Griann & Scar’s more so just vacillates wildly between them all, smashing anything in their path.

But yeah, if you ask them, they are definitely moirails, cut & dry, definitely no confusion there whatsoever, how could you even suggest such a thing, how absolutely rude & out of line of you.

(Spoilers for The Locked Tomb, esp Nona the Ninth)

I know a lot of folks were meh on the storyline with Nona and the schoolkids, and felt it didn’t really progress the plot much.

But I think that they might actually be the most important factor in the end. They were the purest, most human connections Nona had. And now that she has returned to being Alecto, that is vital. She is angry, she has been hurt and betrayed. House belief is that she will end Jod and the world. And maybe she would.

But you can’t take loved away.

And it is stated over and over that Nona loves those kids. Those scrappy, coarse, rough little survivors. And Noodle.

And its no mere chance that they are literal children. They are humanity’s future. And I think that love is what will be the deciding factor for Alecto. She won’t want to destroy them. She will want a better future for them. And Harrow will follow her in that goal. She will have found her true god, like Anastasia before her. And they will be what finally truly saves humanity.

Because you can’t take loved away. And Nona/Alecto loves those kids.

What made you ship it?

obviously the enemies to lovers trope, but i also really liked the forbidden love trope they went through with the whole Chris rule thing.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

they love and like each other!!! it's not exactly a friends to lovers ship, at least not a long friendship before they started dating, but they really and truly enjoy each other's company so much, and on top of that they're in love... if that ain't goal then what is?? they communicate well, they understand each other's passions even though they don't share all of them (lil sebastian and star trek come to mind on either side) and they're equals, which is not something that's often seen in het ships. i adore them.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

i feel like i never know how to define it as popular or not, because i don't really care about whether or not other fans agree with me (we're all allowed to have headcanons and it's okay if they don't match perfectly). but one thing i wish we'd seen more is the triplets!! as much as i enjoyed the least season, the time gap before it made me miss the domestic!benslie family. i cherish that deleted triplets dinner scene to this day 🙌🏻

the fact that Jaime's the prettiest dude in the land and Brienne the ugliest lady, and still he quickly goes from teasing her about her appearance and gender to finding her so impressive both physically and morally that he falls for her lmao what a dumbasssss

What are your favorite things about the ship?

they made each other grow, and that's a fucking Kink™️ of mine. Brienne went from a guarded morally rigid knight to someone who's still loyal and good, but who understands better how the world isn't white and dark around her (and how that especially applies to Jaime). Jaime was always, in my opinion, a "good" person (my boi Armin would say that doesn't mean anything, but i haven't slept in a while so allow me), he just played a role he hated most of his life and Brienne helped him realize his true self could be honorable and inspiring and not unrealistic or stupid. also the bath scene and all their goodbyes they thought were the last and omfgggg THAT KNIGHTING SCENE AJZMGLKFLMMRGML

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

nope, can't think of any. i'm so glad they're both alive and well and doing so good now that Jaime's recovered fom his injuries and has found his personality back after whoever the fuck that was who took over when he joined Cer$ei 🥲 and i'm sure they have a bunch of kids he looks after while Brienne defends the realm
