Today I managed to reach a real live human being at Senator Butler's office to register my concerns about KOSA. I went through my concerns that this bill would be used by red state AGs to silence queer people online. But then I did something that seemed to make an impression.

I got a bit more personal, and said that as a transgender person I am actually scared that this will drive me off the internet and cut me off from my community.

I also said that my friends have trans kids, who depend on the internet for support. And I'm legit worried what'll happen to them.

I think that talking about my personal worries for this bill really helped drive my message home. I got a somewhat warmer response than in the past when I've called.

I've said this before, but my guess is that if this bill passes, it will be similar to what happened with sesta-fosta.

Platforms will either ban content that might be challenged, or merely shadowban it.

There is a lot of fear-mongering right now about algorithms recommending harmful content to kids. In response, platforms may do the opposite: set up algorithms to ensure that nobody sees content that Republicans don't like.

Disabled homeless trans lesbian artist in need; new items added to our Ko-fi shop!

We are currently homeless and living out of a hotel- I am spending $38/night every night that I'm here. I'm working with an apartment complex that is waiting for approval from the government to get me my unit. I still haven't been approved and I have been working with them since October. i like the phrase “assigned gender at birth”. it’s both accurate in that i was given my gender assignment against my will AND it makes it sound like i am a cool spy, given the assignment of gender in a top secret operation i concealed so well for so long.

Because you *should* play this game: #ISAT is a very lovingly crafted RPG with very fun and emotional writing. #The characters are great and the mysteries you slowly uncover are intriguing! #The way the gameplay ties into the player's own emotional state is nearly always in sync with the protagonist. You *will* feel things. #And it is not afraid to let those things be hard emotions! Do mind the content warnings and know your limits though. #As someone who sucks at video games I also appreciate that it is so generous with your time and keeps things fun. #Not to mention it is honestly underpriced for the amount of content in it. I think what some people overlook when it comes to non-binary representation, but that Good Omens has managed to nail on the head (as usual), is how often we see afab nbs being masculine (short hair, gender neutral/male clothes etc.) and amab nbs being feminine (long hair, feminine characteristics etc.).

And that's just... I don't want to say wrong because it's not, but it's just so telling of how they still see that person as their agab.

What I mean by that is, if someone only accepts afab nb people when they're nonconforming or should I say deviating from their agab, then they still view them as women. The same goes for amab nb people. If someone expects gender nonconformity from them and a more feminine expression, then at a basic level, they still view them as men. And yes, there's been that discussion about trans people not being required to perform and how stereotypes are harmful, but I mean this on a more psychological/ingrained level. (That's why I'm mentioning afab and amab so much (sorry))

And Good Omens absolutely knocks it out of the park with this. Not only does it say a giant fuck you to gender expectations for nb beings, but it has such a diverse range of identities represented. Muriel, an afab nb person who dresses feminine. Beelzebub an afab nb person who presents masculine. Andrew, an amab nb person who presents feminine. Aziraphale, an amab nb person who presents masculine. Crowley, an amab nb person who is somehow every single one of these combined. (I know none of them are humans. I'm speaking about how they are perceived by the audience)

When someone only views nb people as afab=must present masculine and amab=must present feminine, then all they're doing is saying they still view nb individuals as their agab, because if they didn't tie nb people's agab to their personalities then them presenting as their agab would have no influence on a person's perspective of their identity. Nb people deserve to present as their agab without their identity being invalidated or them being viewed as cis.

homeless disabled trans person needs help paying for hotel, storage unit & phone while government assistance housing program keeps delaying their move in date

March 21st, 3/21/2024: hello, I'm equinox or Johnny, I'm a severely multiply disabled trans person living in a hotel right now due to not being able to afford apartments on the housing market right now. i have a guaranteed apartment through a government assistance program, but their compliance team keeps delaying my move in date because they cannot figure out how to calculate my earned income because i am self employed. they have been running me in circles asking for the exact same information for six months and have been becoming increasingly more condescending and rude as I've pointed out that they're asking for information i physically cannot provide, like "bank statements" for GoFundMe, a fundraiser website that considers all money earned personal gifts, and tumblr bank statements.

i haven't been able to get my hormones in weeks.

i was promised to move into my apartment on the 7th, then the 11th of this month, and it was requested of me to put the electricity bill in my name so I could get moved in as soon as possible. I did this and now i have a $20 electric bill in my name because they've delayed for so long. my unit has been sitting empty for 6 months and now I'm expected to pay for the electricity that is running in a 1 bedroom apartment I'm not living in.

i have been homeless for 6 months straight. i have been living in my hotel for 2 months. my hotel has been without WiFi for a month which forced me to get a Tracfone with a data plan so I can do my job and communicate with this apartment complex via email. i unfortunately need to buy more data because this has taken so long. most of my possessions including large portions of my stock and shipping supplies are in my storage unit, of which the $78 bill is due in 3 days.

the hotel I'm staying at is normally $40/night but the prices are skyrocketing this weekend because this is a very cheap hotel due to its low rates. i can't afford any of these nights independently of each other, let alone altogether, and it's Thursday and i haven't heard a single word about my move in date.

i have been depressed and crying for days, i cracked a tooth from clenching my teeth and i haven't been sleeping due to stress and nightmares. anything helps. thank you for taking the time to read and support and share. everyone has kept me housed for 2 months so far. i owe you all so much
