Clarke Griffin Appreciation Week 2023!

Hey Clarke Kru! It's been a while since Daily Clarke Griffin has had an event, don't you think? Well, it's time to change that! We're bringing Clarke Griffin Appreciation Week back for its third year! As always, the event will run from October 24th to October 30th. (We start on Eliza's birthday and end the day before Halloween, it's the perfect time to celebrate Clarke, not to mention it's her birth month too!)

As we've done before, a list of prompts have been selected for each day to give you some inspiration for what you create for the week! Like we have said in the past, this event is hosted for all types of content creators, whether you make gifs or graphics or moodboards or videos or fic, we try to pick out themes we think will work for everyone. Check them out below!

Prompts:

Day 1: Favorite Look — For our first day we'd love to see your favorite Clarke outfit/look! Do you love her classic season one outfit? Maybe you like the black and blue outfits of season two! Or maybe give a nod to her temporary outfits like the Ark flashback or one of her dresses? Maybe you think her short hair could use some more appreciation, or you could even make a compilation of all her different hairstyles throughout the years!

Day 2: Favorite Underrated Friendship — We've done favorite friendship/dynamic, but what about a pairing that you think deserved more love? Maybe you wished we got a lot more out of the Clarke and Wells relationship. Maybe it's another one of the delinquents like Miller or Harper. Or what about Clarke and Roan? There's tons of duos to choose from, tell us your fave underrated relationship!

Day 3: Color — For this day we want to challenge all of your beautiful creative minds by channeling color! Whether that be one single color that makes you think of Clarke or a whole plethora of colors by making a rainbow edit! You could even use a color palette generator for some inspo if you want! Anything goes!

Day 4: Lyrics & Poetry — We love seeing things like this in the fandom and we want to see some more! Find a quote of some sort, whether it comes from a song or a poem or even somewhere else, and let it inspire you into creating something beautiful to celebrate Clarke! This could be in the form of gifs, moodboards, fanart, even a songfic! Whatever you want to create, we want to see!

Day 5: Bi Pride — It's not Clarke Griffin Appreciation Week without bi pride day! As always, we'd love to see all the bi love whether it's with a bi flag inspired gifset, a moodboard with cute bi aesthetics, maybe you could even use some lyrics from your fave bi musician as inspo! (Gentle reminder that this day is about bi positivity, we're here to celebrate Clarke's role as a bi leading character!)

Day 6: Halloween — The holiday is right around the corner and we'd love to see some fun and spooky ideas! You could do something orange and black themed, you can make an AU edit like Clarke as a witch or a werewolf! Maybe a manip of what you think Clarke would dress up as. You could also do some spooky horror-inspired editing if that's your thing. Even a Halloween drabble if you feel like writing instead. We hope you have fun with this one!

Day 7: Free Day — As always, we're going to end the week by giving you free rein to do whatever you like for the final day! If you have an extra idea or something you've been meaning to post, now's the chance to do it! It can be funny or shippy or completely AU or even just another compilation of your favorite Clarke moments! It's the last day so we want to see what you love to make!

Yeah, Pyrrha for the ask game, let's go.

1: sexuality headcanon

I like to headcanon Pyrrha as a biromantic demisexual.

2: otp

Gonna have to say Pyrrha x Weiss for this one, but Pyrrha x Blake is a close second! Pyrrha and Weiss just have great potential as romantic partners, and their first season clips together so easily read as Weiss having a crush on Pyrrha and Pyrrha being like "Oh pretty disaster girl, I can fix you." XD

Pyrrha and Nora! I already talked about them recently, but they could be such close friends!

4: notp

Can I say 'anything involving a Jaune harem?' I don't mind Pyrrha x Jaune on its own if it's done well (in a way that doesn't treat Pyrrha as the prize to be won or Jaune's cheerleader,) but every time I see some Jaune x Pyrrha, Weiss, Blake, Ruby, Neo, Glynda, Willow, Cinder all at the same time any of that... Ugh. That's so embarrassing.

5: first headcanon that pops into my head

I saw a fanart once of Pyrrha and Neptune as kids together living in Argus, and now I love the headcanon that they went to combat school together and actually know each other pretty well. (Of course, in my headcanons, Neptune isn't nearly as sucky. XD) Oh wait, no, I want to talk about Pyrrha's parents! Because the whole monument to Pyrrha seems like something Pyrrha really wouldn't want, I've started headcanoning that her parents were the ones who fought to get that statue made but that they both never really listened to Pyrrha and had kind of pushed her all the time growing up, and were sort of similar to pageant parents. So even though Pyrrha loved them, she also had very complicated feelings towards them, and felt like they didn't know her well, which made her very eager to establish a found family at Beacon (and to latch onto possible mentor/parental figures.)

6: favorite line from this character

"I'll do it. If you believe this will help humanity, then I will become your fall maiden." This line is so good at further establishing what we already know about Pyrrha. She's trusting, she's a follower, she's kind, she's good, she wants to do the right thing because it's the right thing, she doesn't even ask for an explanation because when someone tells her that people need help and this will help, she jumps in with both feet before even thinking through the implications. It's both a sign of some flaws (it's pretty naive to trust people just because they're your teachers and some guy, it's pretty reckless to let people do experiments on you without even asking very many questions,) and proof of her deep goodness and her good intentions. Also I like to think that Pyrrha looked at Amber and felt a connection to her, something drawing her to Amber, and felt like she understood Amber in that moment even though they'd never met, and then her being so willing to take on that power and that responsibility was also for Amber and for her legacy. (Side note, the concept of Amber is slept on both in the show and in the fandom.)

7: one way in which I relate to this character

We both seem to be attracted to disaster people? Lol. But in all seriousness, I feel like I do share some minor similarities to her like her tendency to be protective (I will break his legs) and her over-polite awkwardness and slight passive aggressive tendencies. XD

8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character

The romance with Jaune. As I said before, I don't mind Arkos in theory. But the way it's done in canon? Gross tbh. They more or less invented Pyrrha for Jaune, made the majority of her story revolve around him, didn't give her real connections with other characters, used her death to prop up his character in a very fridgey way without letting anyone else grieve, and in volume six they gave her a tribute she wouldn't have wanted to remind everyone of how sad Jaune is... And Pyrrha never got any song that wasn't about her feelings for Jaune. Yikes!

9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave?

One of the only cinnamon rolls left in this show! Pyrrha may have her minor flaws, but by and large, she's a good person who tries to treat everyone well (except for Cardin the bigoted asshole bully which is a good thing) and she spent her life trying to help everyone. Rip that Pyrrha never got to connect with Penny because they would've been the ultimate cinnamon roll redhead duo.

Okay, here we go!! I went a little all out on this post because it’s more about personal preference, but I still stand by it :D

An Angel who did not so much Fall In Love as Settle Into It Gradually by TheLadyZephyr - 7.5k - Rated T

Crowley was standing in the middle of the room, hands in his pockets, looking a little lost. Aziraphale eyed the distance between them. Five steps. Five steps, and six thousand years, and a battlefield spanning an eternity.

The story of the little moments over the millennia that shape an angel’s regard for a demon, and the way he slowly, with great reluctance but inevitable surety, falls in love.

I simply adore this fic. It’s one of those fics that follows them through the ages and its just done so well. I don’t even know what else to say, just that you should go read it, and the fanart is also gorgeous!

Something So Magic by apliddell - 3.9k - Rated G

Crowley gets stuck in his serpent form, and Aziraphale tries his best to help.

This fic is simple, yet adorable, and I cannot get enough of it.

How Much To Give, How Much To Take by thechemicalgirl - 3k - Rated G

“It’s like…’ he paused, trying to calm down. ‘It’s like after I came back from Heaven and we switched our bodies back, something has happened. I can’t use my power anymore, not even to start the Bentley.”

Crowley loses his demonic abilities and Aziraphale tries to help him cope with it, but things get much more complicated than that.

Angsty, but also soft, and just a great execution of a favourite premise.

In Peace I Will Both Lie Down and Sleep by fizzybiscuits - 5.6k - Rated G

Aziraphale starts having nightmares. For some reason, he doesn’t talk to Crowley about this right away.

Title is from Psalms 4:8. “In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.”

This fic just has everything. It’s a stellar example of an established relationship fic and is cavity-inducingly fluffy.

“Seven…” Aziraphale muttered under his breath. He had a bad feeling about this and it showed. He twiddled his thumbs nervously as he waited for more details.

Crowley scrunched his face and shook his head. “Oh you don’t mean–”

“Correct. The Sins have been charged with the task,” Beelzebub interjected.

“Crap.” Crowley groaned. He slapped his hands onto his face and dragged them downward slowly. This was just what they didn’t need.

Gabriel nodded. He had a rather unpleasant grin on his face as he said, “Don’t know much about them, myself, but they can be a pretty gnarly group of high-class demons from what I’ve heard. On par with the archangels back home. Wouldn’t want to… what’s that delightful human phrase? Oh, right. Wouldn’t want to cock this up.”

Listen, in my opinion, this fic is massively underrated. I unintentionally binged it all in one go because it was so gripping. The angst in some chapters had me practically screaming, and the whole idea is a brilliant take on the seven deadly sins. The pining is magnificent, and I live for the Husbands drama.

Let Sleeping Snakes Lie by Blue_Sparkle - 2.6k - Rated G

Aziraphale confesses his love for Crowley when he can contain it no longer. Oh, not to the demon himself of course. To a sleeping snake.

Another fic featuring Snake!Crowley, this one is magnificently soft, and I adore the scene in Stardust it’s inspired by. Just can’t stop coming back to read, 10/10 recommend!

Serpent of Eden, Original Tempter by noodlefrog - 33.4k - Rated T

During Crowley’s trial, the agents of Hell present evidence that the demon has been fraternizing with the enemy. Careful to protect Crowley’s pride (and his own concealed feelings), Aziraphale turns on the saunter and leans into his friend’s reputation as a tempter to spin their relationship into something that looks more demonic than lunch dates and feeding the ducks.

This fic combines Pining, Misunderstandings, and a fantastic ‘what if?’ for the execution scenes, and I am here for it. The Original Characters are written fantastically well, and I loved the bonus chapter!

What They Say About Assumptions by DragonGirl - 7.9k - Rated T

While it’s true that God bestowed upon the angels the divine power to sense love of all kinds, that does not mean they were given the ability to sense exactly who or what that love is directed at. A minor design flaw that hasn’t been much of an issue. Until now.

Or:

Aziraphale has known that Crowley loved someone since the beginning. He’s also spent most of that time believing that someone was a demon.

Aziraphale’s obliviousness in this fic was so ridiculous it felt plausible. It was hilarious but also heartwarming, and has one of my fave love confessions. It was angsty as hell in the best way, and I just implore that you read it!

Crowley pretends to sleep. Aziraphale talks.

Just adorable. Cavity inducing fluff and love confessions are my favourite things and god does this deliver on that.

Foolish Principality by seashadows and WikdSushi - 6.6k - Rated M

Upon moving into a South Downs cottage, Crowley gets left alone while Aziraphale rushes to help the new proprietors of his bookshop. Thanks to a miracle gone wrong, Crowley discovers Aziraphale's greatest material secret, and a few things neither of them could ever fully face.

Is rated M but in my opinion there’s nothing too bad in here, though you should judge for yourself. The poetry is beautiful, horrifying masterpieces, and it is honestly fantastically funny and sweet.

Just This Once by Arinia - 2.7k - Rated T

An idea came, slowly at first, before filling up his heart, setting every nerve alight. It might be another decade, another century even, before he saw Crowley again. No one had come to rescue him from Above. No one had chastised Crowley for wasting a miracle from Below. Perhaps, just this once…

The streets of Paris are soaked with blood, and Aziraphale realizes just how much he owes Crowley for saving his life.

It’s freaking adorable, the kissing is fantastic, and I have a secret love of the French Revolution that made me love the fic all the more. Read it, I beg you.

Neighborly Affection by Thestarlitrose - 4.6k - Rated T - Human AU

Anthony J Crowley was four years old the first time he met the tiny Ezra A Fell; he wasn’t impressed.

He was forty-six when he found him again in a bookshop in Soho.

The Childhood Friends, Flower Shop, Christmas, Friends to Lovers fic nobody asked for in the middle of October.

This fic is a complete tangle of tropes, and it’s also incredibly sweet. Perfect for the fast approaching holiday season!

Two idiots. One book series.

or alternatively, Aziraphale and Crowley are united over their common love of books and the scheming of one Miss Anathema Device

This fic manages to be both very funny and incredibly endearing at the same time. The book names were hilarious, and I adored Anathema’s matchmaking.

A Jaunt Or Two by sonicsora - 3.1k - Rated T - Human AU

They meet by happenstance twice over, only to end up quite woven into one anothers lives. It’s all quite accidental, but sticks.

Crowley realizes a bit belated he’s quite attached to this man who freely uses the word jaunt and wears cream-colored suits.

This fic is just adorable. It’s sweet, fluffy, and exactly my kind of thing. Also Gabriel’s a dick in the comedic way, which is fun to see.

Restoration by arealshitwizard (gaiusgallus) - 2.6k - Rated G - Human AU

Ok I had this idea in my head and it wouldn’t go away so here is Aziraphale as a painting restorer and Crowley as a flash stock broker… There’s just one chapter sorry for my sins

This is a really unique fic (I know I keep saying that, but it’s true!), and featured such fun interpretations of their characters!

Rant of the Droid: Miraculous Ladybug Season 3: Love Eater & Miracle Queen

Hello, people from Tumblr! How have they been in all this time? As always, I hope very well ...

Why honestly I am not.

The reason for that is that I recently saw two disgusting chapters that almost make me eye cancer.

Yes, like that!

As you will guess from the title, the chapters I saw early Love-Eater and Miracle Queen, both from the Miraculous Ladybug series and corresponding to the end of the third season.

But before I go straight to the point, I will say the first thing that must be said: If you, reader, hate the character of Chloé Bourgeois or have recently begun to hate her for the chapters they transmitted and think that all this text is to rant in Against her, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but you've come to the wrong place. There is a wonderful little arrow on the upper left side of your browser that will take you out of my post.

Second, if you are going to comment on my post, let it be only on the condition that you agree with my posture. Even I know that this is extremist, but honestly, I don't want to and I don't have the energy to argue, just to give my point of view. Now, having said the above I start with my post to rightly discharge my anger.

First, the designs of the two Akumas are simply horrible. We have Love-Eater, having a disturbing design, but not in a good way, but seeing it throughout its chapter makes you uncomfortable. That and that in addition, its power is really pathetic. Miracle Queen better not to speak, in just a stick of accessories from the Akuma Queen Wasp. Astruc, old man, put more effort to Akumas designs, by God! This is just a scam of the greats, their designs are flat and do not impress at all.

Second, the two chapters, although they have a certain continuity, the truth be told, they have a narrative too rushed. Not only that, the chapters feel without substance, lacking in soul, they feel like filler chapters when they should have been more shocking chapters, since they are the ones that give the closing to the third season. On the other hand, the first appearance of Dragon Bug and Snake Noir had no more relevance than that of appearing as fillers, their presence had no impact. In addition, the action feels soporific and well below the level to which viewers are accustomed. Miracle Queen promised to be an Akuma of terrifying powers and in the end, it was only a mockery, since they defeated her in such an insultingly easy way; Only one more Akuma remained from the pile.

Third, and this is where I am going to download all my anger. Basically what they have done was destroyed the development of Chloé Bourgeois. We had little, but it was development after all, where we could see a slightly more human side in her. And with Miracle Queen, they make it a very empty and flat villain. In part, I understand Chloé's frustrations and the motivations for which she acted like this, but even with those, it is quite notorious and irritating that writers have treated the character like that. For a moment, when Hawk Moth convinces Chloé, we see the blonde doubt for a few seconds, for later and from nothing decide to ally with him. That felt too rushed and without context.

Honestly, I am increasingly convinced that they did this on purpose so that the fandom would hate the character even more. And more and more I think that Astruc is really burned to see people in the fandom that they hold Chloé in high regard. Because it is not enough for him to hate her, we all have to share his feeling of contempt so that he feels fulfilled.

Nice try Astruc. Your plan worked ... halfway, but it worked. It worked because I have seen comments from people who have already hated Chloé again and even their hatred increased much more after such a horrible chapter. But, and this is good for me, your plan also failed, since there are people, annoyed like me, of your questionable decisions and how you have ruined the development of my favorite blonde.

Because despite everything, there are some who still love the character in spite of everything. Indeed, we know that Chloé's actions are her responsibility and her alone. But it is her responsibility within her world. Here, in the real world, you and your team are responsible for burying her development. Astruc, dude, I don't ask you to turn Chloé into a Marinette 2.0 or a Rose 2.0, I'm asking for a development to become a decent person! Only that, you only had that job and did it that bad way.

Which brings me to this point: you and your team of screenwriters, with these two chapters, have just shown me that they no longer know which direction to take their work. Each chapter that premiered this season was a chapter that was highly criticized, each chapter contained its good doses of salt in the fandom.

Dude, realize that you and your team of screenwriters are doing things wrong! And the sooner they recognize it, the better they can correct the wrongs that have been sent!

I have reached a point where I no longer know what to do with your series. If I continue seeing it with the vague hope that now you will do justice to Chloé and in general to all your characters equally or if you will continue to make mistake after error that the only thing they generate in the fandom frustrations everywhere.

Do you know something? It is not to show off, but I consider myself a fairly patient person. However, as you will guess, like everyone else, my patience has a limit. And with these two chapters, I have run out of patience ... Not only patience but also the hope that they would do something significant with my favorite blonde. Well, in part they did, but they did the opposite of what I expected.

As a fan of Chloé Bourgeois, I feel scammed. I feel insulted and in fact, those two chapters are an insult to my intelligence and intellect. Basically, it is as if Thomas Astruc had made me a sleeve cut, showed me the middle finger, spit in my face, insulted my parents and not satisfied with that, to kick my dog. Those two chapters, especially the last minutes of Miracle Queen, where they completely destroy my favorite blonde were the most frustrating minutes of my life.

Throughout my life, I have seen many series, and this is the first time it happens to me that I feel cheated.

Considering the spoilers we have from the fourth season, the end of Miracle Queen is nothing surprising. At the moment there is evidence that Luka and Kagami will be akumatized again and I am already imagining the reason: Adrien and Marinette will break their courtship with these two. If my prediction comes true, it would re-confirm my theory that they no longer know how to handle the series or the relationships and dynamics of the characters. That at the end of the fourth season we will know which ship will win: if the Lukanette or the Adrinette.

And damn, we all know that the Adrinette is going to win, and we know it from the “Origins” chapter.

We do not even know the name or the real appearance of the new Queen Bee, but I am already beginning to hate that character since the most certain thing is that the development that Chloé needed, they will give it to her in a tray of silver. That's what bothers me the most when I think of the new Queen Bee. They would be telling me that it is her and not Chloé, the character I must support. Because she is sweet and not evil

Already with Marinette herself, Rose and Mylene we already had enough with sweet girls.

I insist again: what was the use of seeing all those scenes where they showed a deeper and more human side of Chloé if, in the end, they were going to turn her into a villain, what its I least wanted?

Astruc, why did you give me expectations that way, to destroy them in such a cruel way? I would have preferred you to leave Chloé like a flat brat and devoid of personality as it was in the first chapters of the first season instead to make this tremendous crap.

All the characters, at the end of the episode, have their moments of happiness and hope, all, including Mayor Bourgeois and Audrey (that, let's face it, that part of the script was taken from the back). Everyone except Chloé.

Chloé fans are waiting for difficult times. More Chloé salt post. More anti-Chloé post. More fanfics and more fanarts where they do bashing her. More people who will try to convince us to hate the character. More people who will leave us negative comments when we upload fanfic or fanarts where we just want to express our support and pleasure to her character.

I have already lost all interest in the fourth season. If it succeeds or fails, I don't give a damn. What I am going to do will be to look for summaries, in order to save myself twenty precious minutes of my life, and thus not waste them in a series that is no longer worth it to me.

There is something I have to grant them. And they said that the end of the third season would have us crying in mucus. And you know they really did it with me. I have cried ... but from frustration and anger to see what they have done.

There is no more perfect GIF to express what I feel right now XD.

Tangled: The series Q&A with Chris.

This is a recapitulation from today’s (February 9th, 2019) Questions and Answers session with Chris on the Tangled Discord Server.

Q: How was your day? How has the crew been? A: That’s an easy one... so far, my day has been great! We’ve all been actually REALLY great! Everyone is still loving making the show! And we all can’t wait for you all to see what’s coming up!

Q: What this series means to you personally? A: As most already know, the show is very personal for me. I pull a lot of the themes and situations from my own experiences and the experiences of the people I love. The writers do an amazing job!

Q: Which episode are you most excited for out of the new titles that were released? A: I need to stay away from commenting on anything coming up. Sorry guys!!! You will love them though, I promise!

Q: Do you know whether or not there will be a long hiatus between season 2 and season 3 too? A: I do not know anything about Disney Channel’s plans for the shows schedule.

Q: I wonder who has built the caravan. Was it Rapunzel herself? A: We all just imagined that the caravan was picked up along the way shortly after the events of season one. I liked the idea that they were out there picking up supplies and things along their way. There could be more stories about how they acquired it. Those stories could be very fun.

Q: I know there are a lot of questions coming in but when you have a moment, would you mind telling us some of your favorite fan theories or AUs? A: AU’s - Well, that Moon Varian thing has gotten a lot of attention.

Q: What did you think when you heard that Germany was getting the episodes first? A: Honestly, it was quite odd to hear that Germany was getting the new episodes first. But again, I have zero say over how programming works at the channel. No one at the studio really does.

Q: Do you read fanfiction of the show? A: I don’t really have the time to read fan fiction, and I’d be worried that some of those ideas would find themselves into the show, so I stay away from them.... I’m sure they are great though!! I love that people feel so connected to the story that they write their own stories! That is SO GREAT! And inspiring in itself!

Q: Have you met any cosplayers? A: Uh, I met a few at D23! Amazing people!

Q: Fave piece of fanart? A: Any of the Cass fan art! I screen shot them and send a few of them to Eden! She loves them!!!

Q: Who's your favorite character? A: It’s hard to have a fav. I love them all so much!

Q: Bouncing off of that question, do you have a favorite villain? A: Well cone on, what would happen to me if I didn’t say Varian wasn’t my fav? HAHAHA!!! I do love Varian!

Comment: I noticed Varian went through lots of design changes, not really a question but I just gotta say how amazing his design is. Chris: He was conceived very early on in the development of the show. But he didn’t really come to life until Jeremy stepped into the role. His design changed after Jeremy was cast. Once we knew more about him he started to take more visual shape. He was a little softer in his design, not as dynamic. Ben Balistreri really found the right tone with him and gave him his final look! You can thank him!

Q: What about Cass. DId she change as well? A: Cass was similar. We had a pretty good idea of who she was, and what she would look like. But once I heard Eden’s voice, she became much more real and started to influence the design much more. Tough and able, she needed to look older and feel different than Rapunzel.

Q: Are you planning to add any more major-ish characters? A: Can’t really speak about upcoming episodes, SORRY!!!

Q: Do you or the other crew members have any pets that inspired any of the animals in the show, like Max or Rudiger or Pascal or Owl? A: Not REALLY?!I wanted my Scottish terrier to make it into the show, but he never did. His name was Conan!

Q: Is there anything you can tell us about (Shorty)? A: No, I like his mystery.

Q: Is he gonna be the Old Man Mcgucket of the series? A: He will NOT be the Old Man Mcgucket of the show.

Q: What is working on a creative team like? It's something i would love to do one day, but i was wondering what studio life is like? A: Working with the crew is the best part of the show. They are amazingly talented and inspiring! I love our crew. The artists, the writers, the voices, the musicians. It’s an amazing process. I’m so lucky that I get to work with ALL of them. I’m the only one that gets to work one on one with every single person on the show. Every single person brings a unique voice to the show. It has its challenges, but at the end of the day, you guys make it ALL worth it. So much more to come! You guys have no idea! I feel like the best stuff is ahead of us. I just wish there were more of you! I know, you guys do a GREAT job. But it’s amazing that so many “Tangled” fans still don’t even know that there is a SHOW!

Q: So at what point in the creative process do you think it's easiest to see what the episode will be? A: Hopefully it’s pretty early, but it doesn’t become solid for me until we start talking to the director and board artists about it. I love the visuals so it becomes clearer to me when I can start seeing things. The themes are always clear. It’s really about finding what the individual episode has to do with the season. Then I can start fine tuning it.

Q: What is you favourite scene? A: Oh I have so many. Um.......When her hair comes back. Her jumping out into the moonlight was my drawing. I loved that. It was like her being reborn.

Q: What made you decide that the leaf people on the Island (Lorbs) should talk with a German accent? A: It just seemed to be a funny thing for them to be German. Flula Borg is hilarious. He was in Pitch Perfect. And is on Conan O’Brien all the time.

Q: Has there ever been bloopers during the series? A: Bloopers are rare in animation. We cut scenes from time to time but the process needs to be tight so very few things get cut!

Q: Did anyone who said the idols name have trouble pronouncing "Idol of the Vershaftsbezeigungengien"? A: Oh! That?! HA! Flula just said it, nailed it. And it just became what the idol was called! We laughed every time he said it. He never messed it up. Nailed it every time.

Q: What background do we have on Friedborg's creation? A: Oh Friedborg.... She was simply meant to be this fun silent member of the castle. The show is SO heavy... and emotional, we just try to look for as many light moments and characters as we can to lessen the heaviness of the overall story.

Q: Did you have any inspiration for the character of Cass? A: Oh Cass. Ummm... she’s made up of a lot of people and experiences. I had an older wiser friend growing up that showed me the ropes. I wanted Rapunzel to have one of those. I cool, experienced buddy. Outside of Eugene. There’s your boyfriend, and then there’s your BFF. They are different.

Q: Were show auditions done all at the same time? Or as new characters needed? A: No, Lance came later, but I knew who I wanted for him. James was ALWAYS Lance.

Q: I'm curious, why did you decide to give Cass an Owl? A: Ben loves owls. And it seemed like something she’d have. Lives most of its real life at night.

Q: What was your inspiration for Quirin, Varian, and their family? A: Varian really came out of necessity. We needed something that would illustrate Rapunzel and her Father’s strained relationship.

Q: What inspired you to get so much Broadway talent for the voices? A: Well. I love broadway. And it seemed in line with the film already. Donna Murphy is a Broadway legend! So it only seemed natural. I knew there was going to be a lot of music and wanted a more sophisticated talent pool than just the regular Disney Channel Stars. Our cast is AMAZING! You guys have no idea.

Comment: Im a huge broadway fan I was so sad Christian Borle didn't sing. Chris: He didn’t sing.... BUUUUT STILL!!! CHRISTIAN BORLE!!!! He’s amazing!!!

Q: Whose bird design is your favourite? A: I loved them all. They won an award!!!

Q: With two legends like the actors playing mother and father, why did you decide to not do a song? A: Songs are difficult to do in the 22 min episodes. We knew we wanted Rapunzel and Cass to sing about the road, so after that we just ran out of time!

Q: Without going into spoilers, any information we can know on Adira's development? A: Well obviously she has the tattoo... So she’s connected in SOME way.

Q: On character design, how long does it take to design a character? A: As far as time goes.... The crew gets a few weeks to design a show, but for major characters that we know we will see over multiple episodes, we take more time. Ben was working on Adira’s design even before we ended season one.

Q: Could I be cheeky and ask for some portfolio tips? Like.. what would be the number one thing a studio (not just disney, any really) would look for when it comes to a character design artist? A: Good question...The number one thing needed for a designer is to know how to turn a character in space.It’s boring, but it’s the NUMBER ONE THING required for the job. Knowledge of shape and space. Not just 3/4 front. So many portfolios have these amazing drawings, but they don’t mean anything if that can’t animate. Do tons and tons of turns. A lot of people think that character design is this super creative flourish of whatever you want all day long. And honestly, it’s not.It’s a lot of mundane clinical turns that are done for use by animators.It’s very boring most of the time.

Q: Would that be very similar for general concept art? A: Well, there’s a difference between visual development and character design.Character design for TV is CLINICAL AND STERILE. But VERY useful. And necessary.But it’s not the life of a “Art of” book.You need to be able to think like a computer.

Q: How early did you have the concept for Lance, and did his role change during development? A: I think I’ve told this story before but I love telling it. About Lance. So. I had flown to New York to pitch the show to Music legend Alan Menken... We spent the day pitching and Alan loved the concept of the show and agreed to write our songs!!! HUGE! Life changing day for sure. So I think he got us tickets to see Aladdin that evening on Broadway. I had never seen it on stage. So we went and I always keep notes for ideas in my phone. And the moment I saw James Monroe Iglehart, I knew he needed to be in the show. He was so much fun! And big! And funny! And a GREAT singer.I wrote down “Eugene needs a fun friend from his past and James would be perfect!” This was before we even began writing any scripts for the show. So from then on out, he became a character in my head, it was just the details of how he would play into the story.But we all love him and James is like a brother to me. We have so much in common! He’s the best! He’s in Hamilton on Broadway now! He and Lin go back a LONG way!They have been friends for years! Q: Which movie or show song is your favourite? A: Well, if it’s not too obvious, I’m a “Little Shop of Horrors”/“Little Mermaid” guy.I love the tragedy of Little Shop and the beauty of Mermaid. I love music and animation. I think our songs are some of the best Disney has to offer across the board. I’d put any of our songs against the features any day.And there are more coming that are some of the best in the series!!!

Comment: Listen up is one of my favorites. Chris: I like listen up because Rapunzel at that point needs to listen to the voices in her head... it was motivated by the things that were happening in the bigger story.

Comment: I liked View from up here. Chris: View from Up Here was also motivated by the bigger arc of the story. Songs for me should work hard to inform the audience what is happening in the story overall, not just what’s happening AT THE MOMENT. “Ready as I’ll ever be” was really about Rapunzel getting ready to leave home. She was as ready to start her adventure as she was going to be. We just used the song to give that same attitude to everyone. But Rapunzel is the focus. Everything SHOULD have purpose. Narrative purpose.

Cersei x Jaime Shipper Ask Game || @lannisqueen sent me all the questions, how greedy

1. What first made you start shipping them? At first, it was because of this quote: “I crossed a thousand leagues to come to you, and lost the best part of me along the way. Don’t tell me to leave.” I really feel for Jaime each time I read it. They both were separated for so long and he comes back to her at an awful time but you can see he loves her. He just wants to marry her and for them to be together, of course he’s kinda selfish, he knows she’s vulnerable and will need him, but in a way so is he because he lost what he thought defined him and it’s all a mess but a beautiful mess. After that, rp happened and they became my OTP.

2. Do you prefer Cersei or Jaime? Jaime, he’s my muse for a reason. I liked him since day one when he pushed Bran out of that window. He appears to be arrogant, impulsive and careless, which he is, but looking deeper into his blunt remarks and his ruthlessness, he's not the dishonorable and disloyal man everyone in that world thinks he is, sure, he can be questionable but he has his own code to act on (eve if he saw all the knighthood ideals he believed in shattered), and that is love. Love is his main fuel and that is something I relate with. He operates in this really grey area where he can do some good things or some really terrible ones for love, and he's aware of it, he knows what he’s done and why, and he’s not sorry for any of it. His POV is the one I enjoy the most too.

3. Do you prefer Cersei and Jaime’s relationship in the books or in the show? They’re so different I can’t pick just one! It’s a bit unfair because now their story is complete in the show and I loved every second of it, specially the end.

4. What other fictional couples remind you of them? Lucrezia and Cesare from The Borgias. I haven’t finished watching BUT I know the important bits and a friend of mine always talked to me of how alike they were.

5. Do you read fanfiction? If so any favs/recs? From time to time and only because two people I know wrote these x x

6. Do you enjoy fanart? If so, any favs/recs? I do but I don’t really have them saved anywhere public to share the links. I’ve already shared my faves with you.

7. Fav Cersei x Jaime edit or gif set? There’s the Jaime & Cersei husband/wife references from the books and this He will come. I know he will. He must. Jaime is my only hope.

8. Have you writen fanfiction or drawn fanart of them? Not yet but I’m in the process of writing my first fic.

9. Name one headcanon you have of them. :) Jaime got his appendix removed when he was eight and Cersei couldn’t sleep that night he was at the hospital, she was feeling the pain he was in too.

10. Fav alternate universe setting for them? I’m trash for all the modern stuff and I know it was crack but I sort of love our changed at birth au.

11. What star sign do you think they are? I pick Leo as canon, for reasons, but Aries works too.

12. What MBTI type/types do you think they are? Jaime is ESTP and Cersei is probably ESTJ, I’m not 100% sure about her.

13. Who do you think takes control more in the bedroom? Jaime does have more control, he likes to dominate more often than not there but they tend to switch.

14. Should Cersei and Jaime have fled to the free cities together at any point and if so when? When they were younger and Cersei wasn’t as ambitious about the throne.

15. What songs remind you of Cersei and Jaime? Already replied.

16. Genderbent Cersei x Jaime, yes or no? Nah. If Jaime was a woman he’d be Cersei and if Cersei was a man she’d be Jaime, so what’s the point?

21. Do you think Nik and/or Lena ship Cersei x Jaime? I don’t know if they’d use the word “ship it”, I think they’re really great and professional actors who really understand their characters and their motivations, and know the importance of their characters’ relationship. BUT THEY SHIP IT, OKAY?

22. Fav cast quote about their relationship? Nikolaj: It’s the end of the movie, there’s been a big, big battle. Go to dark. It’s black for ten seconds… and comes up this sign that says “20 YEARS LATER”. There’s a small cottage, Jaime and Cersei are sitting there. “Finally, my love. Finally”. And the music

23. Do you believe that Tommen would have accepted their relationship if he had known? Eventually, after a looooooot of time and space to process things. He’s too young and I think what made Myrcella accept it as fast as she did was the time she spent in Dorne, it gave her a different perspective of things, and Tommen’s world is not as open and accepting.

24. What would they have named their baby if they had lived? As cliche as it is and its everywhere already, Joanna for a baby girl, and don’t kill me, but Tyrion for a boy just because they owe him their lives.

25. What would have happened between them if Jaime would have stayed in Kings Landing in season 7? I think it would have been harder for Cersei to concrete that alliance with Euron but other than that not much. Cersei was right about what was going to happen once the fight in the North was over. I know one thing that wouldn’t have happened though lol

26. Why did Jaime sleep with and have a brief relationship with Brienne? I need an entire one-shot to describe what happened there.

27. Do you think Cersei really ordered for Jaime to be killed? It wouldn’t be out of the ordinary. I have a thread with one Qyburn where he insinuates that Jaime siding with the enemies presents a vulnerability to their strategy and Jaime’s a traitor betraying the Queen, so he makes me suspect Qyburn is the one behind the order. He’s very smart. But who know?

28. Fav Cersei x Jaime book scene? The altar sex! I found this post I need to reblog about the importance of that scene. It’s a symbolic union, the comfirmation of their love in front of all the gods since they can’t make it public. She’s his home. Also what we talked about, how it proves wrong those who says she was disgusted by his stump and how he still is her champion and Cersei’s the first one to remind him he still has another hand, also “I am not whole without you”.

29. Fav book quote regarding their relationship? “Come at once. Help me. Save me. I need you as I have never needed you before. I love you, I love you, I love you."

30. Do you think Jaime is the valonqar? Yes, I wish he wasn’t but it’s possible. GRRM makes me doubt about all prophecies.

31. Do you think Cersei and Jaime will die together? Yes!!! To infinity.

32. Do you think Jaime will have any sort of romantic or sexual relationship with Brienne? I don’t think so, I see their book relationship more based on respect than actual romantic feelings.

33. Do you think Cersei will meet and have any sort of romantic or sexual relationship with Euron? I think the vision of Aeron Greyjoy about the kraken like figure with tentacles on the Iron Throne and a woman by its side is a foreshadowing of Euron and Cersei. I don’t see them involved romantically, no, but in a sexual way, could be.

34. Will Cersei and Jaime have sex again? I wish, Jaime will always be attracted to her and feel that desire, but it’s hard to find the right time and for him to forget about the other men she’s been with.

Generally In this kind of situation I want to watch some moments when the love between couple is the most visible, usually when between the couple there is some intensive moment full of love.

5.What song or songs remind you of your favorite fandom, character or ship?

Seal - Kiss from the rose 💕

It was a song when, while listening to it I read VK for the first time in 2010. In that moment I read first volume and I said: “Wow - This is great!” Later, after many years, after deeper listening, It turned out that the words of this song perfectly suit to the yume ship. From then on, I associate this song with both the first time when I was charmed by this series and with yume pair.

6. If the creators of your favorite fandom asked you to write the ship canon-confirmation episode, what will you write/how will it happen?

VK / Yume: A lot of things have already been said and done. However, I would doubtless make Yuuki and Kaname be together again (in the normal sense, not like now xp) and that Yuuki would say straight what we see while the whole series, but what hasn't been said directly - that Kaname is the love of her life and that she have never loved anyone so much as she loves Kaname. Such an expressions of feelings and the connection of these two after all these things they have survived (like in the case of Okabe x Kurisu or Mirai x Akihito) would be just a wonderful last chapter. In the case of anime series, I admit that I like the ending. And as for the continuation, we both know well how I would do it ^^

7.Do you prefer to indulge in (consume or create) fanart or fanfic of your favorite ship?

I prefer to indulge in create fanarts and fanfic but usually not related to my favorite ships.

8.Smut or fluff? (VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION xD)

I like both eqally ;3 Or remix 👀!!

9.What ship are you embarrassed to admit you like?

I guess none.

10.What task are you most likely to procrastinate so you can indulge in your ship or fandom?

Sometimes I’m able to not sleep all night because to the morning I’m talking with fans of sth I love, I’m watching my favorite serieses or watching/reading sth depends on it, don’t mentioning about when I’m writing sth by my own. Then the time doesn’t matter 💀 then anything doesn’t matter. It remind sth like a state of trance. - I recommend! 🔥🔥🔥

11.How many hours of the day do you spend reading fanfic or looking at fanart or other media?

In case of fanfics and fanarts, none. I choose to look for some nice edits or news about real series. I can spend from few minutes to few hours, but not everyday, only sometimes.

12.How many memorabilia’s do you own of your favorite fandom or ship (clothes, plushies, etc.)?

VK: The uniform of night class which I was sewing every day for two weeks so it’s really important to me 💖 I also have all 19 volumes, all DVDs, postcards, posters and badges. I will have soon also a fanbook ^^

I have also a lot of some little details from various another serieses like all volumes of Love Stage. But mostly I focus on VK.

13.If you could own one authentic item from your favorite fandom world, what would it be?

All dragon balls xD or at least Goku’s four-star ball 💖

And the Kaname’s bed - with Kaname in the set! 🥂💕🔥

14.What fandom have you found to be too toxic to deal with?

Since I have been on Tumblr, I got involved in only one fandom, so tbh, I can't answer it, because I have no comparison with another fandoms. I also don't have an intend to get too involved in other fandoms, at most superficially.

Nevertheless, withouth doubt the continuous ships-war is tiring and ridiculous. I've always wondered, why among zekis the some of them are still such stubborn, that they can't just get over it and admit that Yuuki's first choice was always Kaname, and Zero on the end turned out to be only the "consolation prize". This is a sad truth, but these are the facts. I think that the only way to real, honest coexistence is to accept this truth on the both sides. Just like when yume accepted that zeki is also a canon and Zero to a degree was also loved by Yuuki in a romantic way, though by not as strong love as Kaname.

It's all simple and transparent, it's enough to notice it.

The answer: "She loves both equally." is no solution ... "She loves one the most." - this is the only acceptable solution in every LT. Even in Arabic harems there is a division on the "first wife" and "next wives". So it's a natural state of things - one the biggest choise. I think that this is the point of attachment and the right, healthy way to resolve this conflict.

It's interesting that when the VK manga was still published, among my native fandom there was also a clear division between yume and zeki. There was no hatred in this. It was just something like a gulf. Then I saw the same for MAL and here. It inspired me to create a theory that this division is not only a division into ships, but also a division based on a systems of views. And in such a situation it's quite difficult to blur the boundaries... That's why I think that determining ONE plot is the most reasonable way. Later we can at most see, how much my theory works in practice, and in how many cases it's jusr an ordinary, superficial choice of a "more cool ship in someone's taste".

15.Do you have or would you consider getting a tattoo depicting your favorite ship or fandom?

I don't think so I would ever have a tattoo, but I for sure wouldn't walk past indifferently next to earrings or necklace with the symbol of Cross Academy ;3 - I love this symbol, it's so beautiful !!

16.What is the strangest thing you’ve done to honor your favorite fandom, ship or character?

It’s hard tbh... One time I created with my friend some dumb “event” which looked like “A night with Kaname” xD She prefered Kain, but she also liked Kaname so it was no problem to do it with her. All night we created a funny or pervert memes, edits, posts, games, and we came up with that we would print the posters of our fave. As a result we didn’t do it but... when I think about it right now, this wish is still “alive” xD ...

It was also one night, when I wrote some poem about sth like “how it would be, if I would kiss someone like Kaname”. I mean, although I know he’s not real, it can’t be denied that It’s sth really pleasant to imagine that in our world there might exist someone such amazing like Kaname. This poem was sth like a vision of kiss with the potential, “real” Kaname. It’s a bit embarrasing, when I think about it because this erotic was incredibly personal and intimate, showing not just a kiss but some feelings accompanying to kiss the real love. So yeah, it was very personal and some kind of mix my deep symphaty and love to Kaname character + the description of my feelings while a real passionate kiss with someone, when my knees are bending, face is burning etc + the showing an experience of romantic moment with someone I love. So it was about Kaname and not about Kaname, sth between in other words xD

I also love to say about VK and Kaname in some serious discussion on studies. I think it’s nothing weird or embarassing to mentioned about some aspects from mangas on such an discussions. I think this manga are not just vampire and dumb LT thread but there is sth really deep and interesting, forcing as to think and reflect about what is love, sin, desire, death, will of life, etc... I love this in VK.

Greetings from Miraland! Love, the POPNikki Team

That’s all of us. All 30+*. This is the team that’s worked (for a lot of us daily) since May to brainstorm, draft, and bring life to this crazy vision-turned-project.

Now that we’re literally 30 days from Zine launch (and two weeks away from launching Site + our YouTube channel), I want to introduce you to everyone because POPNikki is not just the simple FanZine Project I started out asking fans to join. It’s since become a collective of like-minded creators, and don’t you think you’d like to meet all of us?

*NOTE: Our FanArt Team Co-Lead Kira is technically missing from this group shot, but she’s with us in spirit and despite a busy schedule WILL make an appearance in our Summer Zine after all! ^^ Also not pictured is Site Team’s periidote and IRL Team’s Luna-- also with us in spirit!

Team Leads

POPNikki is divided into three divisions and each has its own subdivs requiring, well, WORK. The following group of Contributors help me keep each sector running smoothly (including a Contributor named Lilly who you’ll meet in the next section!).

The Librarian: Editor-in-Chief of POPNikki Zine and the founder of this operation, I have a toe in every division if I really think about it. Clow: Site Team Co-Lead, Developer, and Zine Editor (read: my partner-in-crime), Clow is a great collaborator who can take a vision, no matter how messy and turn it somehow into exactly what you need + want. Clow’s creative but modern style (and way of thinking) is reflected in the Site she’s helped design (can’t wait for y’all to join and see! ^^). You’ll want to follow Clow’s blog for all sorts of LN related posts, my faves being the lovely Starry Corridor photos found from all over.

Yoko: Unfortunately Yoko is taking a break from Tumblr, but when Site opens, we’ll update with a way to reach her! Yoko is the other Site Team Co-Lead and Developer whose incredible patience and research skills have helped bring Site to fruition.

Ms. Loki: Ah, Loki... What can I say that you don’t already know? When I can’t find my head or my glasses (which often leads to me consistently uploading the wrong things), Ms. Loki is right there going above and beyond the call of IRL Team Co-Lead. Not only does she manage a group of Contributors (and I swear, most days, me!), but she also finds time to Contribute, herself! Look forward to her art and articles as she’s become a key part of our FanArt and IRL Teams. (And if you’re not already following for ALL OF THE LN THINGS... ^^ Ms. Loki is usually the OP!)

Val: FanArt Team Co-Lead Val has really had to step up this season due to an unexpected scheduling conflict. "Single-handedly” juggling a whole team of artists using a collaborative leadership style, Val has shown not only her skill as an artist but as a leader this term. Follow her art blog for a peek at her versatile art style or her personal blog to reciprocate the support she’s shown to POPNikki this Summer~

Sea: My FanVid Co-Lead and one of our three video editors, Sea is just amazing to work with. Perhaps it’s her eye for beauty (or the fact that she can find the beauty in everything), but every conversation ends in laughter and every problem finds a solution. She’s always ready to cheer our team on, so please do the same for her (and we’ll be sure to link you to her personal YouTube channel after Zine Launch!).

Dayan: IRL Team Co-Lead and Artist, Dayan’s ideas and participation have both played integral parts in the fruition of this project. Dayan almost bursts with creativity and an energy that really keeps you going. Did you know that in addition to her LN Blog, she also has another blog for her art? I’m such a fan of all our Contributors, but there’s something so lovely about Dayan’s style that I can’t help but share every post. I feel so lucky to have her on board, and y’all are lucky too because you won’t have to wait for Zine before seeing some of her work. She’s also been working on a very fun Site Feature that will meet you guys once we launch! ^^

tbh I adore Bellamy and his story but My fave will always be Clarke and I don't get some people who think Clarke is emotionally closed off and only started loving her his season, don't get me wrong I love Clarke this season but I've always loved her, she's always being a strong character who saves herself and doesn't ever really fall into the princess who needs rescuing, she rescues herself and others but maybe that's just me like my fave princess's were Belle and Mulan and fave GOT is Dany

I can see you have a preference for your princesses. I can’t say I don’t share it.

But you know, don’t you, how much shit Dany’s gotten for being a princess like she is, taking charge, rescuing herself, making bad decisions, using the weapons she has. There are a LOT of people who consider Dany a VILLAIN.

I shake my head at that, because she is in no way written as a villain. I mean, we might not like her, we might focus on the trouble certain leadership decisions caused or what have you, but to decide she’s a VILLAIN, when she is more clearly like Jon (who people think of as the hero) than she is like Cersei, an actual mustache twirling (no mustache required) villain. She’s not morally gray. She’s evil.

I’ve gotten a lot of comments and asks on this subject today, and I just need us all to pay attention to the DISCOMFORT that this issue brings up in us.

Some of us like Clarke better when she is less traditionally female, kicking ass, and remorseless. Some of us like her better when she is more traditionally female, emotionally open, and deferring to Bellamy. We keep defining her so that the one side we resonate with is “better” and the other side is “wrong.” We say “oh it’s normal for us to relate to the emotionally open Clarke,” or “she’s no longer driving her own story so she’s weak.”

The truth is that Clarke IS BOTH.

She IS the princess. She needs to be rescued sometimes and sometimes she does the rescuing. She is RUTHLESS, utterly remorseless and emotionless… except love drives EVERYTHING SHE HAS EVER DONE. EVER. She defers to Bellamy… except when she sweeps right over him and does what she thinks needs to be done. She is Wanheda, Commander of Death, who presides over life. She is the hero of the story, the driving force, and yet, it is not just about her, it’s is bellamy’s story too, and the rest of the 100, and humanity.

We are UNCOMFORTABLE because she doesn’t fit the mold, and our expectations of what a woman character should be, and what women should be, are tossed out the window. Because she’s the political leader and the mother whose primary focus is on her child.

And she can’t be both?

And WE can’t be both?

And we can’t fail and make bad decisions without being cast down from our perfect female pedestal? And we can’t fall in love with the wrong person? And we can’t sacrifice those we love or runaway from pain or claim ourselves as in charge? And we’re not allowed to hurt people because that makes us bad even if there was no way to do what was right without hurting someone? And we’re not allowed to abdicate our power because we’re tired? And we’re not allowed to be cruel sometimes, and kind sometimes, and want peace but be willing to cut a bitch to get it?

I think Clarke Griffin is BOTH the utterly ruthless killer with no emotion who will sacrifice EVERYTHING to save humanity, and the vulnerable woman and protector and mother and lover who will support those she loves and wants everyone to be happy and strong.

We get uncomfortable when she holds both sides of the dichotomy within herself. Just so we’re aware. Bellamy Blake ALSO holds both sides of the dichotomy within himself, the soft protector and the cold blooded killer… and yet, when he acts to embrace both sides of his personality, he is applauded for being more traditionally feminine, for his flaws, for fighting back from his dark side. “Best Dad in the Universe” gets memes and fanart and gushing and “Captain Daddy,” so sexy. “Mama Bear,” gets called cheesy and OOC and forced.

I’m not saying everyone is straight along these lines or that the issue is clear and there is no overlap. I’m saying that these things happen FAR TOO OFTEN to be coincidence in a society that tells women that they HAVE to be soft and feminine and motherly, but WHEN they are, they are lesser humans. Act like a man, or you aren’t worthy. I mean, it just occurred to me that one of your favorite princess actually POSES AS A MAN. Hey, I love that trope, too, but doesn’t it say something?

Women are SCREWED. There is no way to be a woman without being dehumanized in one way or another. What we do is ALWAYS wrong. And here Clarke is, being a woman unapologetically, and being powerful and changing/killing/saving the world and she is ripped apart for every choice she makes, whether she’s taking power or letting it go.

Especially when those choices end up being complex, have repercussions, affect her as a human being, hurt people as much as save them. In other words, when she acts as a realistic, complex human being, instead of a cartoon character.

How did you discover the show?

I'd noticed references floating around (like, a ton of ‘hasta la later Keith!’ quotes and fanart) but Jin and Miguel’s cosplay of Shiro and Keith is what made me actually look it up. (I’ve been following their cosplays for a long time so seeing how excited Jin was about Voltron made me add it to my watch list).

Was it love at first sight or did it take you a while to get into the show?

So the first episode threw me off at first because I couldn’t not hear Finn every time Lance opened his mouth, but about 20 minutes in I was hooked. I've said this before but that first episode is A+ content 💯

I started watching when Season 2 first came out so it helped that there was a lot to binge all at once. plus it was great timing because I’d just caught up on Doctor Who and needed something to watch til Series 10 dropped

Do you have a favorite Paladin?

Pidge and Hunk are my favourites! But admittedly I like Pidge a little bit more.

Do you have a favorite Lion? (If it’s different from your fav paladin, why?)

okay so I picked this username because I wanted to work in a VLD quote but I do actually really like the Yellow Lion! I'm not very good at strategy in games so I tend to just attack everything at full strength and ramp up defenses and that is exactly what the Yellow Lion is good at and that's VERY COOL

Do you have a favorite Villain?

Hmm... I do like Lotor's generals, especially Ezor. I'm also really intrigued by the druids.

Do you have a favorite Alien Race? (recurring and/or minor)

Space mermaids!! They had such great designs and apparently used to be in contact with other planets?? So they should be able to handle space which means they should come back.

Favorite side / other character(s)- Rebels, General, Blade of Marmora, Garrison, etc?

Honestly I really enjoy Slav! and idk if Coran is considered main or side but he's another fave.

How/Why did you join the fandom?

Looking up fanfic/art made me want to make my own because the characterizations I was seeing didn't really match the show?? It was kind of strange to see how pervasive fanon was. (I write really slowly though so most of my stories are still...... not done.) Then I realized just how huge the fandom was/how many different opinions were out there and that made things a little more interesting.

Anyway I ended up focusing on the Plance side of the fandom after reading some of amillionsmiles‘ fics. (I was really happy to find out I wasn't the only one who’d thought Pidge had kind of an obvious crush, haha.)

Care to share a favorite headcanon?

Keith's dad's name might as well be Tex. He’s been going by the nickname since his Garrison days, and it’s been so long that no one even remembers his real name anymore.

What do you think is the best part of the show?

The main cast of characters (backed up by stellar animation and incredibly talented voice actors). They're a great team, they've all got clear strengths and weaknesses and no one's reduced to being a stereotype. Half the criticism of the show is how the writing treats the established characters rather than how the plot is unfolding/revealing more information, and I think that goes to show how fleshed out they all were right from the beginning. I can’t think of many other shows that accomplished that within the first couple episodes.

(I also appreciate all the tributes to other movies/series and how the show plays around with so many different tropes and that alternate realities are literally canon and-)

Any hopes and wishes for future episodes / seasons?

He finds Dick bleeding to death and is forced to save him. Tim and Damian make appearances. Jason has anger issues. That doesn’t stop him from caring. Bruce and Jason hash things out in the mostbeautiful (painful) way.

Okay I know he is a talented young acrobat and all but how the FUDGE did Dick get up on that chandelier?! the kid can truly fly (yeah yeah, the stairs probably lead up to a hallway floor/balcony that Dick leapt off of but still) I wonder how many grey hairs the kid gave Alfred in those first weeks alone

On dark days I like to remember the time bby birb Dick Grayson caved in the Joker’s cheek with a well-placed kick. My nine or ten year old son then proceeded to smash in the Joker’s teeth with a stick a few minutes later and it was amazing

5. I used to hate when fic writers would shorten Damian’s name to Dami (kind of like how I majorly dislike when people shorten Sirius Black’s name to Siri, he is not an iPhone gosh). But then I read a post on tumblr that said something about Dami actually meaning something in Arabic, something like blood or life-blood or heart blood…I can’t exactly remember what and maybe it isn’t even true but I choose to believe it is and that Dick knows exactly what it means and he calls Damian Dami as a way to show how special he is, how much Dick loves him. Because Damian is his little brother/son and means the absolute world to Dick. And Damian, though he pretends to despise all nicknames, absolutely LOVES that Dick calls him this

Just finished watching vld season 2

AND IM SCREAMING!!!! Spoilers ahead so don't read if you haven't watched the whole season yet. I just need a place to fangirl about this. So please bear with me. I can't believe I watched this one sitting instead of sleeping. I'm dying. Let's talk Keith. He's my baby, my fave, so a whole season that's mostly centered around him? I'm so down! Right from the get go we finally delve into his "mysterious past." It's confirmed. He's galra, but he also isn't purple, which, I'm personally happy for? Like, I love all the fanart and fanfics but I don't think it would make sense for him to suddenly turn purple. It's funny because he and Hunk were joking around (kind of) about it. We get to see his dad, and we know that it's his MOM that has some sort of galra connection. Since a lot of fanon was Thace being Keith's dad, it's pretty interesting that it was the mom. But we don't even know how much galra he is though, so that's a bit disappointing. AND HE GOT TO MEET THACE!!! "It was an honor to meet you." I'm crying. Like Keith baby, you're not just an emo kid, you have so much depth and I love it. But wow, I can't believe they killed of Thace so quickly... or did they? But dude, this season they did not play around. There was so much death and torture! It's not explicit, but I was really surprised how dark they went here. Like wow. The Galra empire is super evil. With a side of boot licking commanders, haha. But I love how it's Keith who is trying to humanize the galra. Like yes, Shiro was the one to find the first rebel (I forgot his name sorry) and advocate for him, but as soon as Keith became suspicious of his heritage, he kept connecting to how it's possible that not all galra were evil, even when his team looked at him like he was crazy. The reveal was a bit anticlimactic in my opinion. Like, there wasn't a lot of angst on Keith's part I believe? Like there was a lot of frustration and desperation to know the truth, which is definitely a lot different from fan fiction, where he is im denial or self loathing. But instead he really embraced it which was an interesting twist, not what I expected. The rest of the Paladins seem to take it well, which was surprising too, since there's usually a lot of mixed reactions in fan fiction (this is turning out to be a comparison between what happened in season two and most fan fiction predictions which wasn't intended but oh well). They all seem to accept him for who he is, all except for Allura. Which is interesting because I don't think Coran really cared. But Allura was really harsh towards Keith, surprising since they had their bonding moment (I'm sure the Kallura fans are rejoicing) right before their reveal. But I really appreciate showing the theme of prejudice and maybe even racism within Allura, who is one of the good guys. It's a good thing that she overcame it for Keith in the end (I'm sure the Kallura fans are squeeling at the hug. I was laughing because of the way Allura hugged him. It was such a strange way to initiate a hug, lol. But it was cute, I admit) but it's nice to show that the good guys are flawed too. Something that I noticed was the Keith was thrown into space a lot, and each time Red came to save him. Like... I think she saved him almost half the season. It's strange, because I don't think the other lions did it for their Paladins, granted that no one else was really hurled into space but still. And all of the Paladins got an upgrade on their lions, except for Keith. Like, does that mean anything? And does Keith have the strongest bond with his lion, or his lion just the most overprotective? Like, she attacked the rebel base because Keith was in distress! He wasn't rolling around in space yet! It might not even be an important detail but I can't help but wonder if the directors are going to go with that somewhere. And oh ho ho foreshadowing. Shiro doesn't die/disappear/gets captured this season. ITS FOR THE NEXT ONE LOL THE STUDIO TROLLED US ALL. But seriously. There was so much Shiro and Keith bonding!!! They definitely care for each other. Keith really looks out for Shiro's wellbeing, and look at the desperately he ran towards Black, and Shiro was the one that Keith wanted to see during the trial for the knife. Shiro also trusts Keith a lot and noticed when Keith was stressed out. BUT THEY DIDNT SHOW THE BACKSTORY BETWEEN THESE TWO SO IM CRYING. I'm crossing my fingers for season three. There's a lot of glimpses of Keith potentially leading voltron too. In the first episode, he was able to pilot Black. Granted it was for the sake of Shiro, but still. He was able to do it. I feel like that's huge because each paladin has a special connection to their lion. Since Keith could pilot Black (that one time) it really makes me question his bond with Red. There was no special bonding moment between him and Red, no new unlocked power. But like I mentioned before, Red is super protective. And in the last episode, when Shiro is down for the count for a few moments, Keith took charge. And I have a feeling that now that Shiro is gone (I hope it's just a temporary thing) Keith will really have to step up. But is he ready? I don't even think he wants to. Every time Shiro mentioned Keith leading, Keith was like nope! It could be because Keith didn't want Shiro gone, but also he may not like the responsibility of leading others. He's pretty independent and likes to make his own decision. He stated back to the rebellion commander (I don't remember his name either), that no was commanding/ordering him to sneak into Zarkon's fleet. He's just going to do it. Like. Keith, baby. You have a tendency of going on suicide missions. (On a side note, I found it interesting that Hunk is the one who's assigned to the most dangerous missions. I wonder if there's a reason for it.) Keith had a bonding moment with everybody except for Pidge and Coran. Which is highly disappointing. There's a lot of fanon of Keith and Pidge being conspiracy buddies and for a moment it seems like they could be, but they are barely togetherrr. I hope that they could bond more in season three. And I love Coran, and I would love to see him make deeper bonds than just with the princess. But holy crap, young Coran, teen Coran, child Coran and baby Coran. I DIED. Moving on away from Keith, out of all the villains I respect Haggar the most. Zarkon was reduced to a character obsessed with Black, which became pretty disappointing since I wanted a more complex villain, but HAGGAR. She definitely cares for Zarkon a lot, to the point that she would betray her own people. (Which I hope is something that Allura will come to terms with. That not all Galra are evil and that not all Alteans are good.) Haggar also did what needed to be done while Zarkon was busy locating the black lion, and even if she disagreed with Zarkon, she did her best to support him, instead of trying to overthrow him. It's clear that she supports Zarkon and his reign, not her own power. Which is kind of cool. And Allura. My girl. You are so strong. Like they totally bamfed you up this season. It's great. I love it. Sorry, going to go back to Keith again, but that galra that he rescued in the belly of the worm. Who was that??? They didn't speak at all, and didn't try to harm Keith in anyway, just took what they needed and ran. I really hope that they come back in season three. And that Keith reunites with them. It's such a slim chance, like that random galra was probably just another random faceless galra but still. Here's to hoping. And Matt. He escaped with the rebellion but I don't think it was the blades of something (I forgot that too, sorry). So who did he escape with? More allies for voltron I presume? I really hope that Pidge could reunite with him in season three. And maybe Keith could reunite with his family too? If they're even alive? Like what happened to his parents? When did he get orphaned? Like, he remembers his dads face, so definitely not when he was an infant, but he had the knife all his life and didn't know why. BUT PRINCE LOTOR IS COMING PRINCE LOTOR IS COMING!!! SEASON THREE I AM SO READY AND IM GOING TO DIE FROM THE WAIT.
