Cinch had three charges in her care once, Celestia entrusted her with the day-to-day care of Prince Blueblood, the new Princess Cadence and her student Sunset Shimmer - running a kingdom is difficult enough alone without three young ponies to look after - so when Celestia is absent (often) that means Cinch was in charge of these three ponies. And while the matron of the castle was always rigid about rules and wanted her three charges to uphold her reputation and to build their own budding reputations high, she cared about them very much. You'd have to, spending your time with the same three young ponies for so long, guiding and teaching them to be their best...
By the time Ditzy came into the picture, Cinch was down to two charges. She refused to fail them the way she failed...
Well, with one down, there were two left and she cared so much she wouldn't let anyone ruin them, especially not themselves. Surely they would come to realize Cinch was only helping.

stultifera navis rerun AKA thinking about Iberia hours again because a lot of the Iberians have such fascinating relationships with the concept of home but specifically Thorns and Lumen are eating at my brain. like where do you call home when the place that is your home Just Fucking Hates You? Elysium's rewinding breeze specifically makes a point to hammers home how differently Iberia treats its Liberi and its Aegir
(which is especially interesting since this comes right after a conversation where Purestream commented on how despite Leizi being a high ranking government official, there are still some experiences that are universal for all Yanese people - because the experience of what Iberia itself is like isnt universal for all Iberians)
But all that being said, Thorns also straight up states that Aegir is not his home, and yeah, how could it be? How could a place you've never been to, never truly known, ever be your home? How could it ever feel like a home?
so where do you go when the place that you are from hates your people and the place your people are from is completely unfamiliar and alien to you? Thorns' answer at the end of the conversation with Aya is: my home is where i chose it to be. my home is where there are people I care about and people who care about me
in the complete opposite direction, Lumen's oprec asks: why do you still stay in a place that wants you gone? because the people of Gran Faro like Jordi well enough but when push comes to shove, they will want the only Aegir in town gone
and yet, when Rald the messenger offers him a chance to leave Jordi turns him down and when he's forced to escape Gran Faro after the people there literally try to send him to his death (or worse) at the hands of the Inquisitors he keeps trying to go back because like everyone in stultifera navis, Jordi is clinging to his own dreams of a golden age
but the shape of that dream is unique to every character and for Jordi, his dreams are deeply, inseparably bound to the Eye of Iberia, the legacy his parents left behind
and it's this dream of becoming someone great, of bringing about that golden age that his parents devoted their lives to help create that ties Jordi to this nothing town because despite everything, despite the mistrust of the townsfolk and the hostility of the Inquisition and the danger from the ocean, he simply cannot leave it behind
(or, because i personally dislike the official translation,)
"I just see this place as my home"
so yeah. not sure what overall point i was trying to make here i'm just. deeply in love with these stories about chosing what is and isn't your home, of saying you will not call a place your home because it has given you no reason to or saying you consider a place your home even though it has given you every reason not to. deeply unwell about them <3

it’s pretty clear that a few in-universe years have passed between botw and totk, but now I’m wondering when those years have passed
by which I mean, is the intro sequence of zelda and link exploring under the castle happening after that gap, or does the gap happen while Link is recovering from having lost his arm?
or third option, both?
because it’s clear that zelda has been busy before she disappeared. She’s found the dondon, she’s helped people, she’s started a school, etc
but at the same time, people have adapted to the events that followed the upheaval to such a degree (the yigas in the depth, the sheikahs in kakariko...) that it also feels like a while has passed since that happened...

i've been looking for anywhere you've said so and haven't been able to find it so i gotta ask: what is an archfiend?
Oh gosh?? I could’ve sworn I answered this in more detail somewhere else, but I also can’t find it lol ^^’ So I’ll answer it again now!!
(And also add “archfiend” to the OFND dictionary-)
OFND plays a lot into themes of radiation and intelligence when it comes to specific characters and foes. In this post-apocalyptic world, creatures are split into two: mindful (creatures that have intelligence comparable to the extinct humans), and mindless (creatures that have intelligence that are the same to their real life animal counterparts). With that being said, any creature, regardless of the status of their minds, has the potential to be touched by radiation and develop unique traits.
When a mindless creature gets multiple of these traits, they also have the potential to grow exponentially in size - to about the size of a small school bus. This growth trait is not found in any mindful. When a mindless grows to this size, with all of their traits, their brains stay the same size, leading to additional aggression, less of a drive for self-preservation, and more of a drive for destruction. They are killing machines, and nothing more.
These creatures are called “archfiends”.

i literally do not know what i want to do with adaline. like i dont necessarily want her to die but endwalker is It for her. she does not do any of the post-patch quests. she isnt there. thats not her. dawntrail? she isnt going. but she is like the least likely of all the scions to Ever retire. being the warrior of light is a type of atonement for her. it is what she must do even if she despises it. so the only answer for her really is death.

My “favorite” thing about the bloodborne AU is each time I get a burst of excitement and inspiration for it, the very first thing I have to do is scrap tens of thousands of words of written work because it’s cluttering the story.
I’m not deleting them, but good god each time I look at this monster I realize a huge problem is I’m doing the equivalent of trying to explain all the backstory and lore in the fic itself. Which, like, most of my worldbuilding has been more for me than my readers. For internal guidelines and rules to follow, but they would detract from the story if left in.
I am just not used to doing this kind of in depth world building, so I have to stop come up with explanations and background to help me chart out the plot, and then painfully realize that there is no way for me to include some of these things at all.
I have a hole document just for Etherian Customs and Practices, a deep dive breakdown on the main types of blood (one of which I don’t think even makes a named on page appearance), major institutions, political historys and alliances, important items to the story, and a timeline that stretches over the 72 years the broader fic takes place during.
And today I realized I need to focus in on one character’s story if I ever hope to finish this.
I’m glad I’m making it better! Just! Would be cool to write something that will actually be in the fic. :)

Me: The only way I'm going to spread my wings and get myself out there in the world is if I meet new people and let myself be known
