☆ for both French and Spanish? 💛
☆ : give the first lines of a song which is originally in your language
oh I have a really good one for this. Je l'aime à mourir is a French song originally written by Francis Cabrel (my favorite French singer-songwriter) in 1979, and it's one of the most beautiful love songs I've ever heard. It was later on translated to Spanish by Luis Gómez-Escolar (and sung by Cabrel himself), under the name La quiero a morir, and both versions are incredibly beautiful. I have a slight preference for the original French one, but they are so ravishing and one of my favorite exercises in translation ever. Shakira famously sang both versions in Paris, it was a Moment™. And the lyrics start as follows...
🇫🇷 Moi, je n'étais rien et voilà qu'aujourd'hui / Je suis le gardien du sommeil de ses nuits / Je l'aime à mourir
[ I used to be nothing and today I am / the guardian of her nights' slumber / I love her so much I could die ]
🇪🇸 Y yo que hasta ayer solo fui un holgazán / y hoy soy el guardián de sus sueños de amor / la quiero a morir
[ and I, who until yesterday was but a good-for-nothing / am today the guardian of her dreams of love / I love her so much I could die ]

2 8, and 25 from the "hi, i'm not from the us" asks? if you're still taking them? (ily clara!!! i hope you're well!)
2. do you prefer spending your holidays in your country or travel abroad?
honestly I think that traveling within your own country is underrated! you don't need to go very far to witness breathtaking beauty, and I feel like Europeans tend to forget that, because thanks to Schengen and how easy it is to travel within the EU, you can end up crossing borders literally on accident. obviously I have a bucketlist as long as my forearm and love the culture shock as much as the next gal, but I also love spending half of my vacation time in familiar places. it's the comfort of home for me 💜
8. do you get confused with other nationalities? if so, which ones and by whom?
even if they never ask or comment on it unprompted (because why would they lol), I know French people always assume I'm German bc they always admit it later, when I bring up the fact that I am, in fact, Not German. my name sounds Germanic to them and I'm blonde and blue-eyed, so that's the first assumption they latch onto. I take perverse pleasure in telling unassuming people, "i have another nationality, guess" and watch them decompose lmao. I get a lot of US American too, even when I haven't said a word of English. and Spanish people don't question my nationality, but then again I don't give them any reason to. the giveaway is my last name and I'm typically not out here giving it to random people on the streets of Madrid lol
25. would you like to come from another place, be born in another country?
lowkey yes, lowkey no? I'm constantly thinking about how much of who I am was shaped by the place I was born in and the grounds I played on. I couldn't imagine being me if I hadn't been torn across the Pyrenees, but at the same time I think about my ancestors in Cuba, my cousins in Argentina, and I can't help wishing I'd known a home in those places, too. in the end I don't think it's so much a desire to be from somewhere else as it is curiosity about my family's past, and how substantially different a person I would've been had I not been born here.

Thing about the word "landlord" in English is that in China it didn't mean "guy who owns a couple apartments and rents them" (though that is also a superfluous job in capitalism) but rather "huge landowners that owned most of China and kept peasants in slave-like conditions".
I'm not gonna discuss all the intrincacies of the Chinese revolution, but I think when first-world people hear "landlord" they think "oh that fucking guy who doesn't come to repair my faucet" and not "people who own half of the arable land of the country and decide the livehoods of millions of people and the political and economic destiny of the country". I think that regardless of your views, you need to understand that if you want to understand history and why such a revolution occurred.
