not to keep being all 'poor adrien,' BUT the framing of the special is also so sad. because we've just come off the miraculouses being stolen and chat noir inadvertently using his power on a human. marinette is in her safe, warm room being comforted by her best friend. adrien is alone in his dark room staring at the news on a mute, agonizing over using his power to hurt someone.

considering this setup, it would've been nice if the special had given ladybug the opportunity to give chat a pep talk about the nature of his power and his place on the team. instead, midway through the special chat gives ladybug another pep talk about her brilliant mind, abilities, and leadership. this, of course, coming right on the heels of the pep talk he gave her only hours previous when the whole city was cheering her (and only her) name.

and then we wrap up the special with marinette and alya comforting each other again, and adrien....shrug. and it's mind-numbing because the show has tried to make the point that the distinction between adrien and alt adrien is that our adrien had friends and a support system to help him through his struggles, but then the narrative plays out like that.
