Continuing my never ending journey through memory lane, I remembered sprite animations were a thing back then, so I looked for one of my favorites and boy, am I happy to see they are still here <3.

Coodoo17 was my favorite sprite animator and even got me into one of the most important things in my life nowadays, prog rock, through The Alan Parsons Project as BGM in a half sprite half Gmod video.

The joy I felt when I noticed he released a video last year, made in a similar fashion to the ones from the late 00's, is indescribable and immeasureable. It really took me back to my happy place while portraying both recent and older internet humour.

Top 10 anime comebacks, as my fellow kids would say.

Also, I remember being scared to death of the Tails Doll and now I'm extremely willing to commision a knitted plush of him for the nostalgia hahaha.

the funny thing is the reason I came back from a massive burnout was because I finished a few sketches and notes from 2021 and 2022 (one of which was correcting some information on my fankid MayMay Jona’s sketch) and I watch a video about Archie sonic 

I kid you not one of my fankids was inspired by Sally Acorn (Satam and Pregenesis wave) 

there is so much resemblance I’m even gonna post about that too

photos were going around of a yibo vcr played in a chanel annual meeting in china. we were all happy to see wyb lookin so good and fresh faced, but what we noticed is his top.

the style of top he was wearing (p1) is very similar to that of GG’s (p2) at the airport when he was flying back to Beijing. it’s probably because the weather is getting colder so they wear this instead of their usual esspensive t-shirts?

the point is it’s kind of like the same-style in a close timeframe from each other. so it seems like their tastes in casual clothes are still very close.

Ngl the most surprising part of my transition has been coming full circle back to dressing like a time traveler, just instead of 50's repro dresses I'm wearing what my mom calls "80s throwback" plus late 00's makeup

i have a very sad hank comic in my head and it is absolutely me projecting little bits of my childhood onto the man

starts out with hank, age 16, dressed like a standard teen of the early 00's who listened to alt rock/metal would, listening to linkin park's "in the end" and totally loving it bc that song slaps. he's either got long blonde wavy hair that goes past his shoulders or short and filled-with-way-too-much-hair-gel spiky hair lmaoo. to fit with the other two scenes, maybe he's sitting on his family couch and he just got the album or something and it's his first time listening to it.

then it cuts to him at age 48 or 49, still got blonde hair but much shorter, and cole jumps up on the couch and says, "play the piano song, daddy!! please please please!!" and hank goes, "again? ahh alright, alright," and he puts the same song on and cole starts jumping on the couch and rockin out to the song with his dad

and then it cuts to hank, 52 or so and now with the longer grey hair we're used to seeing him with, sitting on the couch, view from behind but you can still see all the empty beer bottles around him, and he has the radio on which says, "and now for a throwback song!" and the same song starts playing. he lets it go on for a sec before he says "radio off" and it turns off leaving him in the dark and silence by himself

(if you're wondering why this song, it's literally just cuz this is something i did as a kid and is one of the few good memories i have with my dad, listening to "the piano song" and jumping around on the couch with my brothers. i also called the song "down with the sickness" by disturbed "the monkey song" because the vocal thing he does at the beginning uh. sounded like a monkey to me. LMAO)

Return of the Mermaid

2023’s 3rd Most Memorable Moment

If we had a dose of Vitamin C last January, we had an actual mermaid last December.

By Mermaid, I mean my very close friends, Monica, who immigrated to the US shortly after we graduated high school and has only been here in the Philippines for a vacation every few years—the last time was in 2019, and it was also a contender for my Top 10 Moments list for that year but sadly fell short, giving birth to our #JusticeForMermaids group chat.

Anyway, we had a better plan this year, that’s why it placed really high—and my 2023 wasn’t eventful, to be honest.

We rented an Airbnb rest house in Amadeo, Cavite, but before we headed there, we had lunch at Balay Dako. Some of the food we ordered were their signature paella, lumpiang sariwa, camaron rebosado, ginataang langka, and chicharong bulaklak—Monica had been craving this for days, and tried to order in two different restaurants she had been to recently, but they were sadly unavailable.

After buying some groceries, we then went to our Airbnb. The place was very cozy, it had a small, four-feet deep pool, and we had the entire place to ourselves.

When we’ve already settled, we had a mandatory photoshoot at the side of pool, then we went back inside our room to present our ✨ Life update ✨ presentations, which was Wilma’s idea. I created mine just that morning, right before I readied myself, and I simply copied the stuff from my blog and placed it on a pdf.

Wilma went first, then me. I also introduced to them the guy I was seeing who joined us via Zoom—they were so thrilled to meet him. Marjette, Monica, and Trish followed after me in that order. These presentations went on until 11:00 PM, and we finished one bottle of pink moscato—around 75% was consumed by me, so I was a bit drunk when it was Trish’s turn. And even though I’d love to share all their juicy stories here, they’d kill me if I did.

The following day, we played Cards Agains Humanity, and then went out for a while to buy food for breakfast. Then, we took dip in the pool right after eating.

Upon checking out, we hit the road going to Imus—we were gonna have lunch at Wilma’s house. It was a last minute idea, so her mom just prepared all the food she could get out from the fridge for us. We stayed and rested there for a while, then took a short drive going to Monica’s house for her dinner party.

We brought Wilma’s Tetris Jenga and played for one round, but we never got to finish it ‘coz we were already invited to eat. The moment we returned to our table with our food, the wind blew the jenga tower that we’ve built so far.

Our high school friends, Sarah and Jef, came to the party as well. And we sang karaoke while emptying the three remaining bottles of pink moscato—again, I think I may have drunk 75% of those, meaning I was more wasted then than I was the night before. My most favorite song that we sang that night was Rivermaya’s “You’ll Be Safe Here” because it was such a throwback, and we were harmonizing when we were singing.

You know why I love this memory so much? I woke up the day after feeling a bit depressed ‘coz I just missed being with them. Stuff like this happens only once every few years, and we haven’t even been complete yet—Celine was missing here, Monica wasn’t present back in January.

Maybe we should plan for the next winter solstice, then?

Hi!!! older girl anon who get back to school this year, here. How to feel SO OLD in a second? Hear me out ! My teacher asked us, as a homework to give him a song we listened in a loop when we were teenagers…. So for me, it's Mr.Brightside (The Killer) or Chelsea Dagger (The Fratellis) or even I Just Wanna Live (Good Charlotte)… but I'm in class with people who's Lando's age… and their teenages songs are Blank Space (Taylor Swift), Break Free (Ariana Grande), Hotline Bling (Drake)….and someone told me that her teenage song was High on Life by Martin Garrix (Fkng 2018 !!!!! do you hear me?!). I swear that when I heard this, I wanted to cry like : wait, what?!? I swear it was such a generation shock for me, i felt SO OLD and at the same time it was funny. bitter but funny

...and here I am with my britney spears, nsync, backstreet boys, Coldplay and my mp3 player full of 00's songs. Girl I was bopping my head to evacuate the dance floor by cascada and tik tok by kesha while in some teen club and you're telling me, while I got drunk on dance festivals with high on life and all that there were teens listening to it and making that their throwback teen song? 😭 girl, now I feel old..like I knew I was getting older but damn 😭
