Li and I took on a hunt from the Bounty Board at Headquarters, because I like taking my students into the field.. even though I've witnessed Li's usage of the sword on certain missions. Though, this hunt was moreso just me and him as opposed to a team. This albino wyvern had supposedly been terrorizing other dragons and people through Coerthas, so we had to take down our aggressive foe.

Li didn't like the cold, though rightfully so. I even dressed for warmth and allowed him to bask in it for comfort. Though.. once we arrived near Steel Vigil, it was clear that our foe was not happy. In fact, this fellow immediately thought to barrell us off the cliffside into a rather high drop. We managed not to, and proceeded to go all out on our target. This time, I brought Tenken given it was a much larger target, and Li brought his sword. After a few successful swings through our coordination, Li particularly utilizing his paralyzing powders.. the thing grew enraged.

All I remember was my insides being instantly shattered upon the fuck of the dragon, along with Li being the last thing I saw. Everything went cold.. I just remember Li shouting.. in the distance. Was that a dream? Later on, I would find out it was not.

When I came to, I felt Shasta's paw on my cheek. Shasta is Li's newfound shikigami, a capybara spirit. He has healing properties that a natural hot spring would. To my horror I saw my lover collapsed out cold before me in a pool of the beast's steaming blood. It was then Shasta told me Li's wishes.. To heal me and take care of me first and foremost. This wish of.. of putting me first. Before himself..! In that moment, this feeling rose out of me. Guilt? Frustration? I don't know what it was, but I found myself clawing my way to my lover to hold him close.

Li has always spoken about putting me first.. And when I think about it, a pit of rocks hits my stomach, yet something warm rising in my chest. It was a foreign feeling. It was new, and one I still process to this day. That much was made true in that moment I realized just how impactful his words were. Just how precious.. I want to scream instinctively that he doesn't need to do that, that I can always be the one to look after him, look over him.. Yet, that isn't fair. Not to him, and not to me. I may be a thousand, my wounds my heal, my life may be eternal, but Li has shown me on a whole new level not to simply walk as a meat shield to all my people in this eternity.

Afterwards, Shasta took us to his realm. A place where those healing hot springs were present, as well as granting us a less-bloody change of clothes, a fine meal, and sent us on our way to Bounty Call. Li held this.. feral aura around him throughout the night, I could tell. He did not speak much, and our friends voiced their concern.. though ultimately we relaxed with some of our good friends downstairs and shared in some sake.

Later that evening.. I found myself itching to know what happened whilst I was blacked out on my hunt with Li. That was when he voiced the capability of showing me through dreams..? ..This boy keeps continuing to leave me breathless in so many ways. A strange.. relieved feeling washed over me. I can see just how clearly he expended himself for us.. For me. Such a daring.. magnificent display of a swordsman. Yet, it only made me want to wrap him up tighter.

..And tighter.
