"Okay, dove! I'm heading out now; see you later. I love you!" Hawks chirps in the crisp early hours of the day as he bent down to press a kiss onto your lips before walking over towards the bedroom door to leave.

"Bye, have a good day at work," you respond softly as you watch Hawks shut the door, leaving you alone in the bedroom. Hearing him stop in your tracks caused you to quietly giggle before the door opened and Hawks popped his head back into the room.

"I said, I love you," he repeated with a smile. Mirroring his smile, you sit up in the bed, the blankets falling off your chest and onto your lap. "I know, hun," you continue, "I said, have a good day at work."

Now Hawks was puzzled. Stepping fully into the room, he stared at you with narrowed eyes, his arms crossing over his chest, "Dove, I'm leaving to work. You know, hero work? Kinda dangerous?"

"Baby, you're going to be late! Have a safe day at work, okay?" you try, but Hawks doesn't budge—the large red wings behind him drooping onto the floor sadly.

"Why won't you say it back?" The hurt in his voice is evident and you could feel your heart break from his tone. His eyes were glossy and you wanted to kiss the frown on his lips away.

Hawks dropped his visor on the floor before walking over to you and throwing himself onto you, causing you to fall back onto the soft bed. His gold eyes peer into yours as you glance down at him, inches away from his face.

"Is something wrong, baby bird?" He whispers before brushing the back of his hand against your cheek. "Keigo, you're going to be late to work," you try once more but hearing his name, his first name instead of your pet names, did it for him.

"Keigo?" he gasps, "do you not love me anymore?" his voice practically cracking as tears swelled in his eyes. You gasped before pulling him in for a hug, "Baby! I'm sorry! It was just a prank, I've been watching too many videos and I just wanted to mess with you a bit," you confess, pressing kisses onto his face.

Hawks pulls back enough to glance at you, a frown on his face and you give him a small playful smile.

"Say it then," his eyes are still sharp, breath fanning across your lips before you lean in to press a quick kiss onto his, "I love you, I love you so much. I'm sorry, birdie."

He lets out a huff before leaning down to press kisses all over your face, causing you to break out in giggles. "This is what you get for being mean to me," he says through kisses before placing a final kiss onto your lips.

Standing up, he lets out a relieved sigh before walking back over to pick up his visor at the bedroom door. "Okay, let's try this again," he starts, placing the visor on his face before turning towards you once more, "I'm heading out now, I love you."

You give sit up and smile at him, "Have a good day at work."

"BABY! NO!" he cries, jumping back at you.

dabi

"Gotta go do this dumb recruiting thing. I should be back late tonight, don't wait up for me," Dabi explains as he tied sat on the floor, tying his boots.

"I like waiting for you, though," you respond, hovering over his back with your hands on his shoulders as you lean over him.

"Do what you want, I guess, I gotta head out," he responds, finishing up with his boots. "Love you, don't do anything stupid," he replies and you hum, leaning over him to press a kiss to his forehead, "'kay, bye."

Dabi stood up, still in his spot for a quiet minute before he moved to open the door to the apartment with one last look, "love you, bye."

"I know, be safe," you say innocently as you stare up at your boyfriend, who held onto the door frame openly confused. "I said I love you," he says, slightly offended.

You couldn't help but internally chuckle at his bad boy exterior with the big softy interior.

"Yep, got it. See you later," you repeat, standing up to head towards the bedroom. "Hey! What's your problem?" he shouts and you give him a wave goodbye with that precious smile he loves so much. "(Name)!"

"You better head out before you get in trouble!" you shout back, adding fuel to Dabi's frustration. "Fine, whatever," he mumbles loud enough for you to hear, causing you to giggle before running back.

"Nooo, don't be mad, I'm sorry," you whine, wrapping an arm around his waist as you press your cheek against his back. "It was just a prank." But Dabi stayed quiet as his hand rested on the doorknob.

"I always need to hear you say it you know," he says quietly, which causes guilt to wash over you. You let out a small sigh, "I know, I'm sorry for joking so much."

Turning to glance at you over his shoulder, Dabi couldn't help the slight frown on his lips, "I love you," he tries one again and you lean up to press your lips against his, give him a warm smile, "I love you too, lots."

"That's what I like to hear."

The Distance Between Us 03. Dauntless Gets to Choose Now

Summary: Alexandria Eaton is the youngest child of Marcus Eaton. What will happen when she defects from Abnegation and decides to follow in her older brother’s footsteps. Can she make it through Dauntless initiation with her secret or will she find herself in the factionless? And what will happen when the most cold-hearted leader takes an interest in her?

“Hey, where’d you go?” Christina asked as I walked through the door of the dormitory.

“I just felt weird waiting in here since I was the first one done,” I told Cristiana

“Okay,” she says slightly confused.

One of the Dauntless members comes in, “Pick up your old Faction clothes. We’re burning them and then going to the dining hall.” They say and walk off.

We all follow the Dauntless member and once we’re all finished throwing our clothes into the incinerator, they lead us to an area with multiple tables with food on them. I look up to see where the leaders were, my eyes land on Eric, as he looks over to us our eyes meet but I quickly look away and follow Tris and Christina.

We try to find a place to sit but most of the tables are already taken. I look around to see if there are any others open. As we walked up to a table, some other guys sat down. I look around a bit more.

“Shall we sit there?” I hear Tris and look over. Only to suggest sitting next to my brother.

“Ummmm…. We can find another place” I say looking around and turn back to see Christina and Tris sitting down. The only spot left was next to my brother. This is gonna be harder than I thought to avoid him, I think to myself.

I take a seat next to my brother trying not to look him in the eye or even really acknowledge him. I pick up a flat round disk, which I assume is a hamburger, from the center of the table, and pour myself some water.

“Have you guys never seen a Hamburger before?” Christina asks Tris and I, noticing us being a bit hesitant.

“No” Tris responds.

“Just haven’t tried one before” I explain further.

“Abnegation eat plain food, plant-based diets, no sauces, and minimum of seasonings.” The boy across from us interrupts.

“Which textbook did you swallow?” Christina asks jokingly.

“Nice to meet you too. I’m Will. Erudite.”

“Of course you are.” I slightly mumble.

We continue to converse about our old Factions for a while until my brother interrupts, “I don’t wanna hear about your old Factions. You’re Dauntless now.” He says in a monotone voice. I shoot a look at him and look back down at my plate.

“Were you a transfer too or Dauntless Born” I hear Tris say from my left side. She’s clearly talking to my brother.

“Are you kidding?” Four responds back looking at Tris in disbelief.

“No”

“What makes you think you can talk to me?” I clench my jaw at the words, wishing I could openly talk to my brother.

“It… must be because you’re so approachable,” Tris responds back. I tried to hold back my chuckle at the comment but failed. And Christina chuckled with me.

Eric comes up to Four to talk to him before they walked away, Four taps my twice knee under the table to “say sorry”, just like he used to in Abnegation. Eric looks at us and makes eye contact with me before turning away. A few moments go by before Max, a leader of Dauntless, calls the room to become quiet.

“Initiates, stand,” Max says. I stand up along with Tris and the other initiates.

“You have chosen to join the warrior faction tasked with the defense of this city and all its inhabitants. We believe in ordinary acts of bravery and the courage that raises one person to stand up for another. Respect that. Do us proud.” He announces. Cheers erupted from everyone in the room, as the members came to pick us up.

After dinner, Christina, Tris, Will, Al, and I decide to go to the Pit, to see if anything was going on. There wasn’t much going on, just a few Dauntless-born initiates and members hanging out.

“Hey, how are you guys adjusting? I’m Uriah, Dauntless-born” A tall darker skin male says as he walks up to us.

“It’s different for sure. But we’ll get used to it,” I respond.

“I’m sure you’ll fit in great. It’s nice having you all here,” He responds. You all hang out with Uriah and his friends for the rest of the night before heading to bed.

The next morning we were woken up abruptly by a loud banging of metal on metal, “ I want everyone in the Pit. Two minutes,” Four says. Everyone quickly gets ready and we all head to the pit. The Dauntless-born sat behind us, initiates as Four and Eric explain how the training process works.

“There are two stages of training. The first is physical, push your bodies to the breaking point and master the methods of combat. The second is mental, again breaking point, you’ll face your worst fears and conquer them unless they get you first. You’ll be trained separately from the Dauntless born, but you’ll be ranked together. After initiation rankings will determine what jobs you move into. Leadership, guarding the fence or keeping the factions from killing each other,” Four explains.

“The rankings will also determine who gets cut,” Eric adds.

“Cut?” Christina asks.

“At the end of each stage of training, the lowest ranking initiates will be leaving us,” Eric explains.

“To do what?” One of the kids from dinner asks.

“Why didn’t we know that?” Will asks.

“It’s a new rule,” Eric answers.

“A new rule? Somebody should have told us that,” Christina says.

“Why? Would you have chosen differently? Or out of fear? Well if that’s the case, you might as well get out now. If you’re really one of us it won’t matter to you that you might fail. Now you chose us, now we get to choose you,” Eric says coldly

A/N: Here is the third part! The training will probably be split up over multiple parts...like a lot just to hopefully make this little series as interesting as possible haha. I hope you all enjoyed!

Hiii darlings! We have another quiet week this week; I wasn't feeling too well because of the heat and work, but I did manage to get some stuff done!

What was done:

I continued working on chapter 3 part 1; the lead up to the paths selection is taking a while, but it needs to be done before getting to the fun stuff!

I made an aesthetic for the social medias of Attollo!

I did some prompts!

I picked beta readers!! Yay!

What will be done:

Moreee chapter 3! I want to get that lead up done so I can hop on that good character drama and that's the biggest priority for this week!
