buck/eddie | 06x12 coda | 911 spoilers

"so, what? you're thinking about leaving? going to italy, have a pray eat love kind of thing?" eddie asks and he can't keep the bitterness out of his tone, no matter how much he tries.

buck huffs and shakes his head. "no, it's not that—" he frowns and licks his lips. "maybe i haven't been to italy... but i've been to a lot of different places, you know? i would drive all night or sleep in my jeep sometimes, i met people from everywhere... i've done that." buck sighs.

"i was wandering around, you know? just coasting... until i got here. until i met the 118." buck softly gazes up at eddie. "this is home."

and i don't wanna leave you. i don't wanna be like abby, he thinks but doesn't say it out loud.

"then what is it, buck? what's going on in that head of yours? talk to me." eddie pleads as he steps closer.

they're in the kitchen and it's late, buck's had a few too many beers and he's just—

"i don't know, eddie. i died and i—" he looks down and shrugs one shoulder. "i feel a little lost right now, i guess?"

"evan, look at me." eddie asks, his voice so soft and tender and careful. buck's gaze lifts and they lock eyes and it takes the air out of him. "we'll figure it out, okay? together."

eddie smiles at him, sad and hopeful and small— barely twitching his lips upwards. "you don't have to pretend with me."

buck lets out a surprised wet chuckle and nods and then, maybe because he's feeling emboldened by the three beers he's taken, he pulls eddie towards him and buries his head against the man's neck, inhaling the scent that's so uniquely eddie.

they hold each other, hugging tightly. buck can feel eddie's hands grabbing at his back, his fingers digging in between his shoulder blades and waist.

buck finally relaxes surrounded by eddie, letting himself feel and breathe.

he's not ready yet. he hasn't healed yet.

but this hug? them, hanging around in the kitchen? it feels like hope.

it feels like one step closer in the right direction.

“Other than the scare of Buck dying briefly, now that he’s okay, why do you think you’re still struggling?”

He asks this with the kind of tone that leads Eddie to believe Frank already knows the answer, and is simply feeling out how much Eddie is aware of. 

“Beyond the idea of having to live without him being a completely terrifying prospect?” Eddie asks.

Franks nods. 

“I mean, I think part of it is how similar the whole thing felt to losing Shannon.”

“Tell me what you mean by that.”

Eddie takes a moment. It’s hard to speak about. It’s hard to put language to what feels more like a fundamental ache in him. 

“He was intubated. And she… When she… It was something Chimney had said, and…” Eddie takes a deep breath. “I’m sorry.”

06x12//Never Gonna Give You Up - weekly recap

aka the one where I go against the grain, and you’re free to move on if that’s not for you

- Vic looking cute in the beginning and being ready to defend/save Travis with a baseball bat. Including their sweet and funny friendship moment and Vic being a nerd - what else could we ask for?

- Andy looks just great in this episode as well, both at home and in the field. Could have done without The British Dude, though, just saying

- that exchange between Andy and Ross in the beginning was just great, and I’m all here for it

- We need more of the casual jokes, like Maya saying “I hate that I know this” and Travis going “Oh, I know her”

- Vic supporting Theo, even though she didn’t quite understand what he was going through and was having a hard time, is still something I love about them (even though I did wonder what the repercussions would be in real life for just starting your own investigation like that). In general, Theo’s current storyline is so important and relevant to tell, and they’re doing such a great job at portraying all these emotions and conflicts

- For one of the first times (or the first time?) Maya is actually distracted from her job when they hear the news about what’s going on at the clinic, and it shows that a) priorities seem to be shifting for her and b) she clearly still isn’t okay. Which brings us back to “why is she already back on active duty?”, but I digress

- Which brings us to how Ross reacted to Maya losing her cool, and I really think she handled that one pretty well. Ross isn’t exactly known to be all warm at work, but while she did make it clear that they were on the job and that there was no time or space for personal panic, she was also empathetic of Maya’s situation and told her she would try to get more information and I loved that small gesture

- I wish that scenario with the girl and her smartphone was completely unrealistic, but having worked with younger folks, I am sad to report that nope, I’ve definitely seen stuff like that happen before. But to keep the peace: Of course that was a very extreme case, because it’s a drama show, duh.

- And of course they use yet another rescued person as a *hint hint nudge nudge* for one of the main characters (*cough cough* Ross and Sullivan) and at this rate it’s so hilariously and painfully obvious when they do that

- The British Dude being annoying af, man. (side note: That actor seems brilliant though)

- The controversial part: I loved that conversation between Andy and Ross towards the end. In the beginning, Ross was upset at the team’s actions and called it a mutiny and seemed just about ready to shut this station down herself, but then she watched them out in the field and thought about what Andy did, and she actually changed her mind and I loved that they showed that. Ross is, in no way, meant to be a perfect character. In fact, they made it clear from almost day one that she is deeply flawed, despite her ambitions as a female chief. Andy calmly but firmly explained why they did what they did and Ross considered her point of view and ended up agreeing with her, and I can respect that change of mind. Whatever happens between Maya and Ross in the future, is a different topic altogether, and I don’t like to make predictions about that, based on the relationship or lack thereof they are having at the moment, after Maya’s insubordination, mental breakdown and her blackmailing

- I also understand why Andy declined the position as acting captain. She really, truly, wants to be captain of 19, but she doesn’t want it, only to have it taken away from her again so soon. She is showing more and more that she can be and is a fantastic leader, but she doesn’t want it to be a makeshift thing and I understand that decision

- I love that Ross chose Theo as the acting captain instead and that Theo did not decline it, meaning he has made progress since asking for his own demotion all those years ago. Also, we got a bro hug between Travis and Theo out of that, and that’s always a nice bonus

- final side note about Grey’s: I loved that Ben pointed out to Maya that how she had felt about Carina is how Carina feels about her all the time when they’re at work. Maya is all about figuring out other people’s perspectives and feelings, and Ben might have helped her a lot with that

PS: The visual of Andy, Maya and Ross in those overalls was very much appreciated

911 06x12 once again SLAPPED in the best way possible and here‘s why:

- Buck looks like he gives the absolute best hugs and I will not be taking notes on this one I mean Look at how he hugs Maddie. They are my favorite siblings since ever.

- Bobby finally finding peace and knowing his friend and sponsor died trying to save someone had me SOBBING. Him helping two struggling people in turn was so beautiful. That man is sich a caring Dad I just… 🥹

- Athena Supporting her husband in every way possible WE LOVE TO SEE IT.

- Chimney‘s ‚As much as I love to tease your brother, he is not an actual idiot.‘ Because truth. And because I want more interaction between those two.

- JOSH COMING OVER FOR SUDOKU WAS DOWNRIGHT HILARIOUS. For the love of god can These two please become acccidential besties?

- Cameron checking in on Buck was a nice touch. Hope the fandom now sees that he‘s just a dude that asked a favor and does indeed care about his friend.

- HEN AND THE FONDUES I CAN‘T I NEARLY DIED WHEN CHIM UNPACKED THE GIFT

- Hen being Buck‘s second bog sister. Love their Besties-Era. Give me more.

- Buck going to Eddie‘s Place for refugee. Falling asleep on Eddie‘s godforsaken COUCH. Eddie Diaz being a massive dork. THE DOMESTICITY. ‚So now can I ask you how you are?‘ , their honest and serious conversation about shared trauma. Buck being so open and vulnerable and Eddie reciprocating this. Just…those two <3 I really want Buddie to become canon but even as friends, they are so special.

- Buck‘s face as he Seems to consider going to Italy (There is a ‚Eat, Pray, Buck‘ fic forming in my Head, please hold me back!)

- Buck facing the place of his trauma bravely alone

- Buck Opening up to Maddie 🥹🥲💖

- IT WAS JUST ANOTHER GREAT EMOTIONAL EPISODE, OKAY?!

I hope we get more Hen and Chimney in the Next ones. I want to know what’s going on with Danny and his Dad. And how Chim feels now that Buck is okay after blaming himselffor what happened.

And I also still hope that Eddie and Buck get to spend some fun times which might lead to more honest conversations. I want Eddie to admit how scared he was of losing Buck.

Anyway, this Show stays an amazing piece of television. I liked the break from the usual format for the last episodes but am also looking forward to the return of calls.

genuinely i think the biggest problem with s6 is too many plot threads. first half of the season has sam's resurrection, the campbells, the alphas, soulless sam, the angel war, crowley shenanigans, purgatory, and lisa and ben. and then the second half starts off with eve. that's almost a plot per episode. there was potential there but it couldn't get off the ground.
