✦ my album and/or era ranking (or favorite of each): [screams] this is hard. the dream chapter: magic and minisode1 blour are definitely tied for first. tdc magic is just so important .. long hair taehyun..long hair hueningkai.....RUN AWAY ???????? angel or devil ........ magic island..cwjltma.. its literally full of the best songs ever made. blour was my first txt era so it will always be special<3 in addition to that . its a perfect album , like i can sit down and loop my blour cd for ten hours. i have done that. multiple times. like once a week. ghosting ..[falls to the floor] wishlist is pretty good<3

then ...... its basically neck and neck with all the others and i dont have the emotional capacity to pick <3 i would like to instead take this space to list some of my favorite txt songs in no particular order: wishlist , nap of a star , frost , eyes, wishlist , trust fund baby , cat&dog , ghosting , dear sputnik , eternally , anti romantic , no rules , cant you see me , wishlist , puma , loser lover , 0x1 lovesong , 0x1 lovesong jp ver. thamk u for ur time

✦ how i got into them: i found them in the [redacted] tag. and then kept seeing their early tiktoks on my pinterest page, namely soobin running into the metal pole and taehyun in the mirror. i think i watched both of them at least 30 times, hence the first bias situation. also i saw a gen z idol comp and yeonjun dropped the pasta and i think i screm laughed for like 30 mins straight at that

✦ which member would be my best friend: hueningkai and i know this for several reasons: first and foremost bc im obsessed with him and he'd adore that , second that i would sew him any plush he wanted , third that i make a million jokes a minute and he loves laughing

✦ something i associate with them (or with a bias/any member): cowboy hats and crocs. alexa play be the cowboy by mitski , i associate hueningkai with plushies and hoodies and laughter and marshmallows and headphones and pretty green grass and the >3< kissy face , and i associate soobin with da da da da da da da da da da 🐬. taehyun with tdc magic and all magic and sour patch kids and (ofc) cheese tteokbokki and cats and math :(

Alright time to ramble about I Need U & Run!!

But!! For us to really be able to discuss these 2 in depth, we need to add in a 3rd player—On Stage: Prologue

The order to watch them in is: I Need U -> On Stage: Prologue -> Run

OS:P actually has Butterfly as the main song in it and they actually have Butterfly - Prologue Mix on Spotify which I loooove listening to

Anyway! I Need U focuses mainly on the tragedy that kicks off the time loop—we see everyone but Seokjin having tragic fates (tho we don’t really see Namjoon’s fate, we just see him having a rough time at the gas station, tho that is important for his character’s storyline). Most importantly, we see Taehyung stab and kill his father.

Which is where OS:P kicks off. There’s a version on YouTube where a fan has subtitled it bc the original doesn’t have English subtitles, but we see that Taehyung calls (presumably) Namjoon and tells him that he wants to see his friends, immediately after he tries to wash his father’s blood off of his hands. Taehyung then goes to an abandoned pool where the rest of the guys meet up with him, and they have fun.

They then hang out outside of Namjoon’s boxcar (the same one we see at the beginning of Run) and light a fire, similar to what we see in I Need U. We see Namjoon have the running motif of Reflections/Mirrors as he writes “We Must Survive” on his mirror, we see Yoongi have the running motif of fire as he pensively flicks his lighter, we see a Polaroid of the ocean view from I Need U in Seokjin’s hands. Seokjin is the observer—he’s the one who always has a camera, a camcorder. Jungkook blows out Yoongi’s fire, foreshadowing how he’s the only one who can save him from his fiery suicide attempt.

Then we go to the beach, and we see Seokjin’s black pickup—a very important object that helps establish if something is within the BU or not. It’s like TXT’s hatchback in 0X1=LOVESONG, LO$ER=LOVER, and GBGB JP—it helps establish that these are in the same universe. (Ironically, I think those 3 MVs are telling an independent story to TXT’s The Star Seekers, which includes Nap of a Star, Magic Island, Run Away, Can’t You See Me?, Eternally, and FROST—those are the MVs that are connected to the BU via the odd-eyed cat)

We see Namjoon’s gas station again, we see Seokjin take a picture with Yoongi, then we’re at the same pier from I Need U. Yoongi and Jungkook share a moment that feels….a little more intimidate, at least from Jungkook’s side, than what is platonic (it’s widely theorized that Yoongi & Jungkook in the storyline are in love, which—there’s a lot of lines in the novellas that hint at that, specifically one line from I think Hoseok where he asks Yoongi, “Why don’t you go see Jungkook? Don’t you know what you mean to him?” and Yoongi thinks to himself something like, “of course I do. That’s why I can’t go see him.”)

Then………Taehyung climbs the tower and jumps. It pauses before he hits the water and we learn in the Notes novellas that that’s bc this action sent Seokjin back in time

But……y’know where he does hit the water?

Run.

Run opens with Butterfly playing faintly in the background as Taehyun falls backwards into water. Throughout the video he’s thrashing underwater, seemingly drowning. Throughout the video, we see Seokjin looking at the camera with a thousand-yard stare, like he’s remembering the time loops (Seokjin doesn’t have the ability to remember the time loops at first, but then he’s granted the power to remember so he can use his memories to help try to fix things).

We see Namjoon and Taehyung spraying graffiti together, a running motif for the pair of them. We see Seokjin building a house of cards—BTS’ song House of Cards plays during the end credits of OS:P. Taehyung knocks over the house of cards, representing how him jumping off the tower ruined Seokjin’s plans. We see Hoseok and Jimin in a mental hospital together, which is a very important location for the both of them and explored more in the Notes, the Webtoon, and the LIE and MAMA short films

Namjoon picks up a playing card with a Butterfly on it—referencing OS:P

Ah, the iconic Yoonkook fight. When Yoongi breaks the mirror, Seokjin reacts strangely, like he’s expecting to go back in time—since the sound of breaking glass is one of the things he hears when the loop restarts. We even see smeraldo flowers in this scene, in the mirror’s reflection before Yoongi breaks it, which Seokjin has for his date in Highlight Reels. I have a tattoo of a smeraldo flower lol

And in the tunnel scene, there’s Seokjin’s truck again!

And then! The credits are Butterfly and the behind the scenes clips include clips from OS:P

OS:P actually has a deleted scene at the end that was taken out of the original but I think you can still find it on YouTube, where Seokjin pulls out the Polaroid of himself and Yoongi, but he’s no longer in the photo. At the end of Run, after the credits, we see a shot of them all at the beach, on Seokjin’s truck—but when we see I Need U Jimin holding the Polaroid of that photo, Seokjin is gone.

I’m sure I missed some things, there’s one thing in particular I know I’m forgetting, but this is already so much lol I need to calm down

literally everything is falling into place now. I had a feeling Run was related to I Need U. The use of imagery like the boxcar and the pickup is a really effective way to establish continuity especially in MVs where you dont have much time to communicate. but i missed on almost all the things you described here. Mostly bc of the missing piece of the puzzle, On Stage: Prologue, that is connecting the two pieces together (as well as additional context in the novellas)

I really like how, even if i was lost on the story, i could catch on the undercurrents of tension and doom between their moments of bliss. Again, excellent video. My initial interpretation was waay off though. I thought they were slowly readjusting to normalcy after their suicide attempts. But this is more like their last moments of normalcy before hell breaks loose. Or not actually last bc it will repeat till eternity.

Yoonkook is… interesting. Like yes let’s add more drama into the mix, between that and Taehyung’s suspicion on Seokjin its a perfect recipe for a friend group collapse. The Smeraldo flower being a symbol of magic… reminds me of the flower in Tangled honestly, how it glows… your tattoo must be so cool omg BU and BTS must mean so much to you like… music be really out there saving our lives huh

genuinely wondering why bighit seems to be translating songs into japanese a LOT less now (i.e. bts vs txt)

i was looking at the tracklist for sweet and sugar rush ride is the only tnc:t song getting a jp translation and hydrangea love is the only new jp song (i don't think i should count the intro & outro as "full songs" tbh). most of the tracklist consists of previously released jp versions of songs (0x1 lovesong, gbgb, moa diary) or previously released original jp songs (ito, hitori no yoru, ring). i'm looking at the tracklist for still dreaming and it's a similar story where it's mostly jp title tracks + original songs, but almost no b-sides.

and i'm pretty used to, say, bts japanese albums where they won't translate the whole kr album, but they will at least translate a good number of b-sides. youth had jp versions of butterfly, baepsae, boyz with fun. face yourself had best of me, not today, go go. mots: the journey had make it right, dionysus, airplane pt. 2.

so i'm coming from that and i'm genuinely surprised that we don't get, say, japanese versions of tinnitus or opening sequence or frost or anti-romantic. (hell, loser lover didn't get a jp translation and it's also a title track!) the only txt b-sides i've seen with jp translations are angel or devil, drama, and moa diary. on one hand that means less work in the recording studio for the boys and they already have enough on their plate, so i don't mind less work for them. and maybe j-moas are more receptive to listening to the original korean versions than j-armys. who knows!

but on the other hand it makes me feel like all the marketing stuff for sweet is a lot of fluff bc at the end of the day you're paying a full album for... 1 new song, 1 new translation, and 1 new intro/outro. sure, there's a brand new concept and i do think that the sweet concept photos (esp. the surrender ones!) are gorgeous, but in terms of the musical content... eh.

Oh this is sorta off topic but also related but—it’s giving such Lost Boys energy which is something I was suspecting would be incorporated somehow since the whole Neverland concept implemented in the trailer (I had no idea they would make Lost Boys so ethereal and fairylike tho wow) BUT ALSO

I just wanna rave about this for a sec ‘cause like. It is so. Freaking brilliant to me. That the only explicitly Star Seekers content we got from The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE was FROST. And we didn’t get any with Thursday’s Child.

Because. If we take the Neverland references into account. “FREEZE” can be taken as a reference to the fact that in the book and the 2003 live action movie, Neverland literally freezes over when Peter Pan isn’t there.

Most of The Chaos Chapter and Thursday’s Child completely swerved away from Star Seekers—while the Dream Chapter addressed romance some of the time, a lot of TCC addressed romance, more so than it addressed friendship like TDC did in abundance, and Thursday’s Child is a breakup album solely about romance. We also got a contained trilogy telling one cohesive story not connected to Star Seekers (0X1=LOVESONG, L=L, GBGB JP Ver.) So it’s like…..the boys took time away from their Magic Island. And it froze over, like Neverland.

Now, they’ve returned, and I suspect we’re gonna get waaayyyyy more Star Seekers/TU content with this album than we got the last 2 eras, and I’m so so so excited!!!!!!!!!!

When it comes to the Minisodes, I feel like they stray away from the storyline purposefully. I feel like the intention of the Minisodes is to have a break in between chapters and experiment with other things whether it be style, sound, or both.

That being said, I definitely am feeling the lost boys vibe in the concept trailers! But I also feel like I get that sort of magical / Peter Pan vibe in the majority of their releases bc it is a common theme for them. Personally I don’t know much about The Star Seekers as I have never really paid attention to that content aside from photos.

The Neverlamd freezing over part though? You’re onto smth there NSNDNJEKDKD BC LIKE—YEAH… I can totally see that. They addressed a lot of romance related pain in the last chapter and I’m curious to see how that transitions into the new one!

okay, so, let me just pour some thoughts (even if they are obvious or me being a clown as usual ✌🤡 lol)

to me it seems like with this mv they are going to address current world problems and the effects it has on young people:

hueningkai is in a bathtub full of plastic bottles and soobin is in a dump -> pollution

yeonjun is in a room full of boxes as if he just moved in or is about to move out -> not fitting in?

beomgyu is in a hospital (or infirmary room since he has what it seems to be a school uniform) -> the pandemic?

taehyun has a pair of wings that have lost a lot of feathers and is in a classroom -> clipping wings to young generations (why him tho since hueningkai is the one with wings in the star seekers storyline 🤔 they are similar to those in 'nap of a star' and i doubt this is not connected to the storyline)

What connects them all is loneliness and the fact that they are all listening to music, aka what gives them comfort

anyway I love that they keep doing this with their music and i can't wait for the mv 👀

(I will say that I came up with most of my fic crossover idea that I’ll probably never finish waaayyyy before the GBGB JP ver came out, so I didn’t incorporate any of that video into it ;-; since in my crossover, part of Yeonjun’s psychosis involved him *thinking* he had stolen money, but the bag is actually empty, and he hallucinates his friends with him during LOVESONG and L=L before driving the car off the cliff…….I did so much research for what diagnosis he would have and why and what symptoms he would have man I should reread my notes)

The fanfic premise is super cool, and maybe txt is the missing piece that Seokjin needs to stop the time loop. 0x1 would clearly support that YJ hallucinated both the robbery and his friends. But GBGB JPN in the picture messes up a lot of things, the robbery clearly happened and the rest of the boys are very real. If you want to still pursue the fanfic you’d have to move around a lot of things.
